Exploateringsområdet Barkarbystaden är Nordens nuvarande största pågående exploateringsprojekt. Här väntas 14 000 nya bostäder vara klara till 2032. En beräknad mängd på ca 488 000 leveranser förväntas under byggtiden. Under denna byggtid verkar flera kvarter och olika byggherrar samtidigt. För att lyckas hantera allt detta ställs ett stort fokus på en fungerande logistiklösning med bra planering och framförhållning.Syftet med arbetet är att undersöka hur logistiklösningar påverkar produktionens effektivitet genom att undersöka och studera hur leveransplaneringen i Barkarbystaden fungerar. Målsättningen med arbetet är att komma fram till data och studier som bidrar till en effektivare och mer lönsam produktion i Barkarbystaden och för byggbranschen i helhet.Frågeställningarna examensarbetet utgår ifrån är följande: Hur skiljer sig leveransplaneringen gentemot det verkliga utfallet, hur har entreprenören anpassat leveransplaneringen och hur kan logistikplaneringen förbättras?För att uppnå ett resultat som besvarar examensarbetets frågeställningar har det genomförts intervjuer, en litteraturstudie samt en fallstudie. Examensarbetet är genomfört i samarbete med företaget Prolog som är involverade i logistiklösningen på projektet Barkarbystaden. Prolog har givit arbetet möjligheten att komma i kontakt med relevanta nyckelpersoner för intervjuer samt delat med sig av kunskap om projektet Barkarbystaden som varit till nytta för att genomföra fallstudien.Fallstudien resulterade i att planerad ledtid är nästan fyra gånger längre än den faktiska ledtiden. Vid mätningarna noterades klockslaget när transporterna anlände och när de lämnade. 39% av leveranserna lämnar efter planerad avfärdstid.Logistiklösningen i Barkarbystaden är endast dryga ett år gammal och är inte för alla entreprenörer ett tidigare känt arbetssätt. Entreprenörerna har haft olika stora utmaningar när det gäller att anpassa sig till logistiklösningen. Vissa entreprenörer ser utmaningar med ett annat arbetssätt men det blir med tiden. Entreprenörer som jobbat med liknande logistiklösningar på andra projekt har en fördel när de ska anpassa sig till Barkarbystadens logistiklösning.Logistikansvariga bör bli mer noggranna när dom bokar in respektive leverans med avseende på vad det är för transport och lossningsmetod som ska användas. Samt att korta ned den planerade ledtiden i bokingssystemet. Då skillnaden var markant mellan planerad respektive faktisk ledtid.Vid kontraktsskrivning mellan entreprenör och leverantör bör entreprenören kravställa att de ankommer inom angivet lossningsfönster och reglera konsekvenserna av för sen ankomst parterna sinsemellan. The Barkarbystaden development area is the Nordic countries currently largest ongoing development project. Here, 14,000 new homes are expected to be ready by 2032. An estimated amount of approximately 488,000 deliveries is expected during the construction period. During this construction period, several blocks and different contractors operate simultaneously. In order to succeed in handling all this, great focus is placed on a working logistics solution with good planning and foresight.The purpose of the work is to investigate how logistics solutions affect production efficiency by examining and studying how delivery planning in Barkarbystaden works. The aim of the bachelor’s thesis is to obtain data and studies that contribute to a more efficient and profitable production in Barkarbystaden and for the construction industry as a whole.The questions the degree project is based on are the following: How does the delivery planning differ from the actual outcome; how has the contractor adapted the delivery planning and how can the logistics planning be improved?In order to achieve a result that answers the bachelor’s thesis questions; interviews, a literature study and a case study were conducted. The bachelor’s thesis has been carried out in collaboration with the company Prolog, which is involved in the logistics solution for the Barkarbystaden project. Prologue has given the work the opportunity to get in touch with relevant key people for interviews and shared knowledge about the Barkarbystaden project that has been useful for conducting the case study.The case study resulted in the planned lead time being almost four times longer than the actual lead time. During the measurements, the time was noted when the transports arrived and when they left. 39% of deliveries leave after the planned departure time.The logistics solution in Barkarbystaden is only just over a year old and is not a previously known way of working for all contractors. This means that the contractors have had various challenges when it comes to adapting to the logistics solution. Where some have said that from the beginning it was difficult with a different way of working but that it got better and better with time. While some of the respondents said that they had worked with a similar logistics solution on previous projects, which obviously means an advantage when they have to adapt to Barkarbystaden's logistics solution.Logistics managers should be more careful when booking lead times for each delivery. By careful it is meant that logistics managers should take more account of what kind of transport and unloading method is to be used and to generally shorten the planned lead time in the booking system. This is because the difference was significant between the planned and actual lead time. When writing a contract between contractor and supplier, the contractor should require them to arrive within the specified unloading window and regulate the consequences of late arrival between the parties.

Most construction companies want to deliver the best possible results for their customers while spending the least possible resources. Nevertheless, the construction industry has traditionally been full of unnecessary inefficiency regarding workflows. One of the most successful methods to prevent inefficiency workflow is lean construction. Lean construction consists of various methods that aim to streamline workflow as optimally as possible. Purpose: The purpose of the degree project is to use specific lean methods and tools to identify different waste and be able to use them to reduce downtime of a studied construction project. Method: A case study has been carried out where the project Heby - care homes has been studied. To gather more information a survey study has been done. To gather even further information about the project an interview was conducted with a person who has a leading role. Results: The result shows a analysis of the survey and the interviewe answers. It also includs working methods, transparency and waste minimization. Furthermore it includs solutions like identify problems, create order and structure, standardize and work on improvements. Conclusions: The conclusion that can be drawn is that standardizations in the form of checklists and guides need to be in each project. More openness and to review your chosen forms of agreement. To have a more dynamic working group that strives to achieve common goals and continuous improvements. These are the most important aspects of making a project effective.

The mining industry of the future has a strong focus on sustainability, which for example is reflected in the Swedish mining industry association Swemin´s goal of a mining industry free of carbon dioxide in 2035. To make this possible, a broad investment is now being made in the electrification of mining machines, which is believed to have great potential for reducing emissions. Epiroc Rock Drills AB is a driving force in the transition to battery-driven vehicles and has had electric machines in its product catalog for several years. From 2022, they have started to assemble batteries in-house that were previously assembled by the supplier. This thesis investigates the streamlining opportunities for the assembly process for the batteries ST14, MT42, ST1030 and MLE regarding lead time. First, a description and analysis of the current situation were carried out where five areas were identified to have an impact on the assembly process. This resulted in several proposed general improvements: developing a system for handling proposed improvement, more distinct communication of the quality philosophy, better resource efficiency and improvement of kitting and 5S. In addition, three new layout proposals were developed which were analyzed and weighted to select the most suitable proposal under the current conditions. The result was a layout where ST14 and MT42 models are assembled in two mixed model assembly lines and ST1030 and MLE are assembled by fixed position. Continued research includes making data collection when the processes are more mature and to apply the data on the study´s suggested improvements., Framtidens gruvindustri har ett stort fokus på hållbarhet vilket bl.a. speglas i den svenska branschorganisationen Svemins målsättning om en koldioxidfri gruvdrift år 2035. För att detta ska vara möjligt sker nu en bred satsning på elektrifiering av gruvmaskiner vilket bedöms ha en enorm potential för att minska utsläppen. Epiroc Rock Drills AB är drivande i omställningen till batteridrift och har haft elmaskiner i sitt sortiment ett antal år. Från och med 2022 har de även tagit över montering av tillhörande batterier som tidigare monterats av leverantör. För att klara av att möta framtidens efterfrågan undersöker detta examensarbete vilka möjligheter det finns till effektivisering av monteringsprocessen för batterierna ST14, MT42, ST1030 och MLE med avseende på ledtid. Först genomfördes en nulägesbeskrivning och nulägesanalys där fem områden identifierades ha inverkan på monteringsprocessen. Det mynnade sedan ut i ett antal generella förbättringsförslag: utvecklat system för hantering av förbättringsförslag, tydligare kommunikation av kvalitetsfilosofi, bättre resurseffektivitet samt förbättring av kittning och 5S. Dessutom togs tre nya layoutförslag fram som analyserades och viktades för att välja ut det under förutsättningarna mest lämpade förslaget. Det resulterade i en layout där ST14 och MT42 monteras på två blandflödeslinor och ST1030 och MLE monteras genom fast position. Fortsatt arbete inkluderar att göra ny datainsamling när processerna är mer mogna och applicera det på studiens förbättringsförslag.

Arbetet har utförts vid Tekniska Högskolan i Jönköping där en studie har genomförts i samarbete med Kitron AB som är ett elektroniktillverkande företag. Kitron strävar efter att reducera kapitalbindningen för att vara kostnadseffektiva och därmed hålla hög konkurrenskraft. Studiens syfte var att identifiera de aspekter som påverkar företagets kapitalbindning och ta fram åtgärdsförslag för att minska kapitalbindningen som orsakas av materialflödet för ett av Kitrons kundprogram inom medicinteknik. Olika metoder användes för att samla in data gällande materialflödet. För att finna åtgärder analyserades materialflödet utifrån insamlad teori och genomförd värdeflödesanalys. Studien resulterade i identifiering av ett antal aspekter som påverkar kapitalbindningen och utifrån de togs åtgärder fram. De rekommenderade åtgärderna grundas i teori om Lean production. Åtgärdsförslagen bidrar till att effektivisera materialflödet och minimera den totala ledtiden för att reducera kapitalbindningen. Ett effektivare materialflöde kan uppnås genom att producera enligt principerna inom just in time och minimera slöseri. God samverkan med de kunder och leverantörer som påverkar materialflödet är också önskvärt. Den produktstruktur som Kitron utgår ifrån kan även anpassas efter produktionen för att minimera produktionsledtiden. Sammanfattningsvis krävs en kortare ledtid för att reducera kapitalbindningen inom det studerade kundprogrammet. Med hjälp av en del av de presenterade åtgärdsförslagen skapades ett idealt materialflöde som innebar reducering av produktionsledtiden med 15,5 dagar. Detta skulle medföra en reducering av kapitalbindningen med ungefär 454 000 kronor. This project has been carried out at Jönköping University of Technology. The study has been executed in collaboration with the electronics manufacturing company, Kitron AB. Kitron aims to reduce the capital tied up to be cost efficient and improve the competitiveness. The purpose with this study was to identify the aspects that affect the company´s capital tied up and also find solutions to reduce the capital tied up caused by the material flow. A case study was executed at the company where the study was delimited to one specific customer of Kitron that make biomedical technology. Different methods were being used to gather data which has later been analyzed based on the theoretical framework. To find the solutions and identify the material flow an analyze was executed from theoretical aspects and a value stream map. The study resulted in identification of several aspects that affect the capital tied up. From these aspects, solutions were found. The recommended solutions are based on theory about lean production. The solutions contribute to a more efficient material flow and help reduce the total lead time to enable a lower capital tied up. A more efficient material flow can be achieved by producing according to the principles of just in time and by reducing waste. It is preferable to cooperate with customers and suppliers that affect the material flow to improve it. The product structure can be arranged differently to enable a shorter production lead time. In conclusion, a shorter lead time is necessary to reduce the capital tied up concerning the studied customer. An ideal material flow was created by using some of the suggested solutions, which resulted in a shorter production lead time by 15,5 days. This would also contribute to a reduction of the capital tied up with 454 000 SEK.

In studies carried out at wooden house companies, it has been shown that the window assembly process has been a bottleneck. Bottlenecks cause waste in the process as it can lead to unused value-creating time. Window mounting is also done in a way that is not ergonomic for the worker which damages their productivity and health. By getting rid of the bottleneck, there is the possibility of a lead time reduction. The purpose of the study was to investigate whether a new window mounting method can replace the existing one in an advantageous way. The study was conducted at the fall company Vida Building AB, which is a manufacturer of prefabricated wooden houses. To fulfill the purpose, qualitative and quantitative collection methods have been used to map work steps in the production flow and its cycle times. In this way, a comparison has been made between the existing and the new window mounting method. It has then been possible to make an analysis to investigate whether it is possible to fill queue times with the new method. Several improvement proposals have been made based on the data collected. The utilization of the new window mounting method enables a balancing in the production flow, as well as a reduction in waste partly due to ergonomic work but also due to a more efficient mounting method. To further increase productivity, proposals for aids have been specified to improve the workers working position.

Detta arbete har utförts på avdelningen för produktion av brandglas hos en av Sveriges främsta glasleverantörer, Martin G Anderson. Företaget upplever i dagsläget låg lönsamhet för deras brandglasprodukter. Anledningen till detta beror på problem i form av långa ledtider, stökiga arbetsutrymmen och allmän oreda på avdelningen. Målet med arbetet har således fokuserat på att kartlägga slöserier i tillverkningsprocessen för brandglas som ger upphov till dessa problem, samt reducera ledtiden och samtidigt kvalitetssäkra processen. Arbetets metodgång är av en analyserande karaktär, där en stor del av tiden ägnats åt insamling av data i form av observationer, intervjuer samt litteraturstudier. Arbetet initierades med att undersöka nuläget och utföra en nulägesanalys. Manuella tidtagningar utfördes under fyra veckor i syfte att få en bild över hur ledtiden ser ut i dagsläget. Därefter användes verktyg inom Lean för att analysera den information som sammanställts i nulägesbeskrivningen. Exempel på verktyg som tillämpats är styrdiagram, 7+1 leanslöserier samt rotorsaksverktyget 5 varför. När nuläget var känt och insamlad data analyserad, tillämpades Lean verktyget 5S för att reducera de slöseri som identifierats i processen. En ny manuell tidtagning utfördes där resultatet visar en 19% reducering av ledtiden. Slutligen presenteras förslag till fortsatt arbete. Dessa förslag består bland annat av fortsatt tillämpning av verktyget 5S, men även hur en mer hållbar process kan åstadkommas utifrån social hållbarhet. This project has been carried out in the department for the production of fire-resistant glass products at one of Sweden's leading glass suppliers, Martin G Anderson. The company currently experiences low profitability for their fire-glass products. The reason for this is due to problems in the form of long lead times, messy areas and general disorder in the department. The goal of the project has thus been focused on locating wastes in the production process for fire-resistant glass that causes these problems, as well as reducing lead time and at the same time assuring a high process quality. The methodology of the work is of an analytical nature, where a large part of the time has been devoted to the collection of data in the form of observations, interviews and literature studies. The project was initiated by investigating the current situation and performing a current situation analysis. Manual timings were carried out during four weeks in order to get a picture of what the lead time looks like today. Subsequently, tools within Lean were used to analyze the information compiled in the current description. Examples of tools used are control diagrams, 7 + 1 lean waste and the root cause analysis 5 why. Once the known state and collected data were analyzed, the Lean tool 5S was applied to reduce the waste identified in the process. A new manual timing was performed where the result shows a 19% reduction in lead time. Finally, proposals for further work are presented. These proposals include, among other things, continued application of the 5S tool, but also how a more sustainable process can be achieved based on social sustainability.

Syfte: “Studiens syfte är att undersöka vad som förklarar svenska onoterade företags benägenhet att lämna in sin årsredovisning i ett tidigt eller sent skede”. Metod: I denna kvantitativa studie har sekundärdata samlats in från databasen Retriever. För att uppnå studiens syfte används multivariata regressionsanalyser med lead time och i tid/sen som beroende variabler och lönsamhet, ålder, storlek, revision, skuldsättning, bokslutsmånad samt bransch som oberoende variabler. Resultat och Slutsats: Resultaten visar på ett negativt signifikant samband mellan lead time och lönsamhet. Sambandet mellan lead time och företagets bokslutsmånad var positivt och signifikant. Företagens val att ha revisor visade sig även det ha ett positivt signifikant samband med lead time, vilket innebär att företag med revisor kommer att lämna in sin årsredovisning senare än företag utan revisor. Det finns däremot inget som tyder på att ha en revisor eller inte påverkar huruvida företag lämnar i tid eller inte. Bidrag: Studien har bidragit till forskningsområdet kring aktualitet dels genom att utföra studien i Sverige och dels genom att studera onoterade företag. Detta har medfört att en variabel som inte tidigare har studerats, företagets val att ha revisor eller inte, har kunnat inkluderas. Studien bidrar även till de senaste årens debatt kring tidsgränsen för hur sent årsredovisningar ska få lämnas in. Förslag till vidare forskning: Ett förslag till vidare forskning är att studera om årsredovisningars aktualitet förändrades i och med avskaffandet av revisionsplikten. Det hade även varit intressant att utföra en liknande studie med longitudinell design där flera år undersöks för att kunna fastställa orsaksriktningen mellan variablerna. Aim: “The aim of this study is to examine what explains Swedish unlisted companies’ tendency to file their annual reports in an early or late period”. Method: In this quantitative study secondary data is obtained from the database Retriever. To achieve the aim of this study multivariate regression analyses are used with lead time and in time/late as the dependent variables and profitability, age, size, audit, leverage, fiscal year-end and sector as independent variables. Results and Conclusions: The results show a negative relationship between lead time and profitability. The relationship between lead time and company fiscal year-end was positive and significant. If a company have chosen to have an auditor is shown to have a positive significant relationship with lead time, this mean that companies with an auditor will file their annual reports later than companies without an auditor. There is on the other hand no indications that having an auditor or not will affect whether the company file on time or not. Contributions: This study has contributed to the field of research of timeliness partly by performing the study in Sweden and partly by studying unlisted companies. This resulted in the inclusion of a variable that takes into account if the company has an auditor or not, which has not been studied before. The study also contributes to previous years debate about the time allowed for companies to file their annual reports. Suggestions for future research: A suggestion for future research is to study if the timeliness of annual reports changed as a result of the abolition of the audit obligation. It would also be interesting to conduct a similar study with a longitudinal design where more than one year is reviewed so that the causal direction of the variables can be determined.

I denna studie undersöks hur faktorer som ledtid, kostnad och miljö påverkas av valet avverksamhetsform på avlägsna marknader. Även konsekvenser på produktionsstrategi,produktflöde och ekonomiska vinster undersöks. I studien görs fallstudier av svenska företagi länderna Japan och Kina för att undersöka hur företag väljer att etablera sig och arbeta påavlägsna marknader. Fallstudierna analyseras och diskuteras för att undersöka hur de valdafaktorerna påverkas. En rekommendation åt samarbetsföretaget presenteras därrekommendationen utgår från studiens slutsats. This study examines how factors such as lead time, cost and environment are affected by thechoice of form of operation in remote markets. Also, the consequences on productionstrategy, product flow and economic gains are examined. In the study, case studies are carriedout at various swedish companies Japan and China to investigate how companies choose toestablish themselves and work in remote markets. The case studies are analyzed anddiscussed to examine how the selected factors are affected. A recommendation is presented tothe partner company where the recommendation is based on the study's conclusion.

Logistics is an integral component in making the production process more efficient in companies. An important concept in logistics is lead time, the time it takes for a product to go through the process from inbound and outbound to the customer. A normal logistical process comprises the initial receival of goods, controls upon arrival and further quality controls carried out before the product ends up in the storage. The delivery process is a central process with many sub-processes including varying working methods and routines that can result in permeating inefficiencies in the company if they aren’t done properly. The purpose of the study is to identify causes of inefficiency that might cause extended lead times and reduced productivity in the delivery process. This is achieved by studying the internal workflow and routines of Volkswagen Parts Logistics delivery process. This study’s based on a case and the data is gathered by semi-structured interviews and observations at Volkswagen Parts Logistics. Thereafter the results are analysed through literature and scientific articles. The study first identifies one cause of inefficiency through factors such as simplification, synchronization, communication and integration. To identify the root-cause, a root-cause analysis has been used on these factors, which are then compiled into a cause and effect diagram and finally six factors have been explained. From the analysis and discussion of the six factors, four improvement suggestions have been submitted to Volkswagen Parts Logistics. The suggestions included education & training, standardized working methods, understanding the whole process and cooperation between groups. The study presents a scientific gap regarding the efficiency improvement of lead time with Human Lean aspect with a focus on the delivery process. The study contributes to the gap through the six factors and improvement suggestions based on analysis and discussion. Logistik har blivit allt viktigare för att effektivisera produktionen i företag. Ett viktigt begrepp inom logistik är ledtid, i den här studien innebär ledtid tiden det tar för en reservdel inleverans till utleverans vidare mot kund. En väsentlig del inom logistik är inleveransprocessen för inkommande gods som går igenom godsmottagning, ankomstkontroll och kvalitetskontroll för att sedan hamna på lagerhyllan. Inleveransprocessen är en central process med många delprocesser och varierande arbetssätt samt rutiner som vid brister kan medföra en genomsyrande ineffektivitet i företaget. När avvikelser uppstår kan det medföra en förlängning av ledtiden vilket påverkar resten av processen och framförallt utleveransen till kunden. Studiens syfte är att identifiera orsaker till ineffektivitet som kan leda till förlängda ledtider och minskad produktivitet i inleveransprocessen. Det görs genom att studera arbetssätt och rutiner i inleveransprocessen. För att utveckla kunskap rörande faktorer som påverkar inleveransprocessen är en fallstudie som grund med genomförda semistrukturerade intervjuer och observationer genomförts på Volkswagen Parts Logistics. Resultat har analyserats med hjälp av litteratur och vetenskapliga artiklar från forskningsområdet. I studien identifieras först orsaken till ineffektivitet genom faktorer som förenkling, synkronisering, kommunikation och integration. För att identifiera rotorsaken till ineffektivitet har en rotorsaksanalys genomförts på dessa faktorer som sedan sammanställts i en orsakverkan-diagram och slutligen har sex stycken faktorer presenterats. Utifrån analys och diskussion för de sex faktorerna framtogs fyra stycken förbättringsförslag till fallföretaget. Förbättringsförslagen innefattade utbildning & upplärning, standardiserade arbetssätt, förståelse för hela processen och samarbete mellan grupper. I studien framförs ett vetenskapligt gap gällande effektivisering av ledtid med Human Lean aspekt med avgränsning till inleveransprocessen. Studien bidrar till detta gap genom de sex framtagna faktorerna samt formulerade förbättringsförslag baserat på analys och diskussion.

Syfte: Syftet med rapporten var att bättre förstå vilka faktorer som har en inverkan på kapacitetsplaneringen samt de metoder som finns att tillgå gällande kapacitetsplanering. Utefter detta formulerades det tre stycken frågeställningar som studien avser att besvara: Vilka metoder inom kapacitetsplaneringen kan tillämpas i ett kundorderstyrt företag? Vad utmärker kapacitetsplaneringen i ett kundorderstyrt företag? Hur kan kapacitetsplaneringen förbättras utifrån fallföretagets nuvarande situation? Metod: För att besvara frågeställningarna och uppfylla studiens syfte valdes det att genomföras en fallstudie på Lindab Götene AB i Götene. Den första frågeställningen besvaras genom att identifiera relevant teori kring kapacitetsplanering och analysera dessa med empirin. Den andra frågan besvaras med hjälp av empirin där en nulägesanalys har genomförts som ger en inblick i fallföretaget samt den informationen om hur kapacitetsplaneringen tillämpas i fallstudieobjektet. Även här analyseras empirin med teorin. Den tredje frågan besvaras utifrån den analys och insamling av empiriskt material i nulägesbeskrivningen för att identifiera vad som kan förbättras angående kapacitetsplaneringen i en kundorderstyrd verksamhet. Den empiriska datan utgjordes utav intervjuer, dokumentstudier och observationer. Slutsats: I dagsläget sker kapacitetsplaneringen för hela företaget, författarna föreslår att fallföretaget tillämpar metoden kapacitetsbehovsprofiler då den möjliggör att planera kapaciteten per avdelning. Vilket skulle kunna ge en bättre uppfattning om hur beläggningen i produktionen ser ut utifrån fallföretagets förutsättningar. Ytterligare rekommendationer är att utföra tidsstudier för att säkerställa att korrekta operationstider finns tillgängliga som kapacitetsplaneringen baseras på för att inte över- eller underskatta graden av kapacitetsbehov. Uppföljning och återkoppling bör även göras för att se hur produktionen ligger till gentemot planeringen för att även skapa ett underlag för eventuella förbättringar som kan utföras, samt att skapa rutiner och se till att dessa följs. Purpose: The purpose of the report was to achieve a greater understanding over which factors have an impact on capacity planning as well as the methods available regarding capacity planning. Along this, three questions were formulated that the study intends to answer: Which methods within capacity planning can be applied in a customer-managed company? What distinguishes a capacity planning in a customer-managed company? How can capacity planning be improved in the business case based on the current situation? Method: In order to answer the questions and fulfil the purpose of the study, it was decided to conduct a case study at Lindab Götene AB in Götene. The first question is answered by identifying relevant theory about capacity planning and comparing them with empiric materials. The second question is answered with the help of the empirics where a current situation analysis has been conducted that gives an insight into the case company and the information on how capacity planning is applied in the case study. The theoretical and empirical material are analysed as well. The third question is answered on the basis from the analysis and collection of empirical material in the current situation description to identify what can be improved regarding capacity planning in a customer-ordered business. The empirical data consisted of interviews, documentary studies and observations. Conclusion: Today the capacity plan is created for the whole company as one unit, the authors are suggesting that the business case applies the method capacity bills which makes it possible to plan capacity for each division. Thus, creating a better chance of understanding the current situation in the production. Further recommendations are such as conducting time studies to ensure that correct operational times are available which capacity planning is based on, this for not under- or overestimate the need of capacity. Follow-up and feedback should be done to see how the current situation of the production is against the production plan, also to create a ground for potential improvements that can occur. Creating routines and making sure that they are followed.

Effektiviseringar inom företagen är en viktig del för företagens överlevnad, under de senaste decennierna har intresset för effektiva materialflöden ökat allt mer. Genom att ständigt effektivisera sparar företagen både tid och pengar. Denna studie fokuserar på att effektivisera ett produktionsflöde i ett företag. En litteraturstudie genomfördes för att lyfta fram olika nyckelfaktorer för en effektiv process, skapa förståelse för olika begrep och lade grunden för olika typer av analyser som senare används i studien. För att få en helhetsbild av den verkliga processen som skall studeras användes fallstudie som metod vilket innefattar intervjuer och observationer. Tre förslag på nya produktionsflöden arbetades fram genom att granska de nyckelfaktorer som togs fram under litteraturstudien, genom analysen av intervjuerna och analysen av observationerna. Faktorer som även beaktades var hur dessa nyckelfaktorer påverkar varandra. Förslagen utvärderades genom en Pugh-matris där ett av förslagen framträdde som det starkaste, som sedan rekommenderas till fallföretaget. Det rekommenderade produktionsflödet förväntas minska ledtiden från nuvarande produktionsflöden vilket är 114 respektive 196 minuter till den nya beräknade ledtiden på tolv minuter för respektive flöde. Med det rekommenderade produktionsflödet reduceras tiden för både transporter och hantering av detaljerna och detta motsvarar en minskning på 4,25 personer, vilka kan frigöras för andra arbetsuppgifter inom företaget samt att det frigörs mer uppställningsyta för inkommande gods. Business efficiency enhancements are an important part of corporate survival, in recent decades, interest in efficient material flows has increased more and more. By constantly improving, companies save time and money. This work focusses on streamlining a production flow in a company. A literature study was conducted to highlight different key factors for an effective process, to create an understanding of different concepts and to lay the foundation for different types of analyzes later used in the study. In order to get an overall picture of the actual process to be studied, case study was used as a method which includes interviews and observations. Three proposals were dealt with by examining the key factors that emerged during the literature study, through the analysis of the interviews and the analysis of observations. Factors that were also considered were how these key factors relate to each other. The proposals were evaluated through a Pugh-matrix where one of the proposals emerged as the strongest, which is then recommended to use by the company. The recommended production flow is expected to reduce lead time from current production flows, which is 114 and 196 minutes to the new estimated lead time which is twelve minutes for each production flow. With the recommended production flow, both the transport and management of the part items decrease, and 4.25 people are released from the work stations, which means that these resources can be used to within other applications within the company and that more loading space for incoming goods is released.

This bachelor thesis was composed by the initiative of a large aluminium profile producer in southern Sweden. Together, the authors and the company analyzed and mapped the current production flow of a selected item. The lead time and total output for a selected article was determined in order to examine the possibility of reducing the amount of tied up capital and related costs. Findings showed that reducing tied up capital and associated costs could be done through adjustment of production layout, production efficiency as well as alterations of produced quantities. By combining these three proposals for improvement, an overall recommendation for future course of action for the company was composed. Bakgrund: Det problem som utgör grunden för uppsatsen är förankrat i ProfilGruppens osäkerhet gällande vart i en artikels flödesväg kapitalbindning uppstår. Flödesvägar anses kunna ha onödiga delprocesser, samtidigt som använd lager- samt produktionskvantitet inte är teoretiskt förankrad. Potentiellt skulle kapitalbindning och kapitalkostnad kunna reduceras genom analys av dessa aspekter. Syfte: Uppsatsens syfte är att utreda förbättringsmöjligheter i termer av reducerad kapitalbindning och kapitalkostnad inom en typartikels flödesväg. Metod: Studien följer en kombination av de kvalitativa och kvantitativa forskningsstrategierna. Arbetet präglas av ett positivistiskt synsätt, eftersom målet är att nå en kvantitativ reduktion av företagets kostnader. Samtidigt är uppsatsen en fallstudie, en design tätt kopplad till kvalitativ forskning. Studien utmärks av ett ständig förhållande till teoretisk relevans, i syfte att kunna applicera genomförd analys på andra företag försatta i liknande situation. Slutsats: Forskningens resultat visar att tre av de fyra analyserade förbättringsförslagen är av intresse att implementera i företagets verksamhet. Genom att kombinera samtliga förslag till en sammanställd rekommendation presenteras en övergripande framtida handlingsplan för ProfilGruppen att vidta.

Mossberg (1998) bekräftar att batch-baserad logstik inom bokbranschen har flertalet negativa konsekvenser. Mossberg (1998) skriver följande; ”ETT PÅGÅENDE RESURSSLÖSERI De osålda böckerna drar på sig transport- och lagerkostnader… …överskottet -- inte sällan mer än halva upplagan! -- makuleras inom en treårsperiod. Bortsett från det stötande i detta resursslöseri bidrar förfarandet till att den svenska bokmarknaden har fått den ’’färskvaruprägel’’ som tidigare berörts -- och som innebär en tidsmässig begränsning av den svenskspråkiga litteraturen.” (Mossberg, 1998) Mossbergs (1998) iakttagelser stödjer även de observationer vi gjort på fallföretaget. Detta är också grunden till vårt projekt där vi bidrar till ett mera effektivt och hållbart arbetssätt hos en av Sveriges största ekonomiboksproducenter. Syftet med denna studie är att undersöka vilka fördelar som enligt teorin kan uppnås vid en övergång från en batch-baserad till en print-on-demand baserad logistikhantering av böcker. Målet är att presentera rekommendationer för beslutsfattande och framtida strategi för fallföretaget, men också för att hjälpa andra företag med liknande krav och behov. Denna fallstudie genomförs på ett svenskt företag där man i huvudsak arbetar med kundservice/support till företag som använder sig av deras bokföringsprogram och servicetjänster. En viktig del i deras tjänst innebär publicering samt e-försäljning av informationsböcker. Vi har dock kunnat se att ytterst lite görs för att förbättra sin kvalitet inom detta område. Vår undersökning visar att fallföretaget sammantaget skulle vinna flera fördelar genom att använda sig utav en print-on-demand-lösning. Detta eftersom man skulle förbättra sin kvalitet i alla de avseenden vi fokuserat på, med en lägre totalkostnad, ingen kapitalbindning och en minskad påverkan på miljön. Aside from the offensive in this waste of resources, this procedure contributes to the fact that the Swedish book market has got the '' fresh character '' as mentioned earlier -- and as entails a temporal limitation of the Swedish-language literature" (Mossberg, 1998) Mossberg's (1998) findings also support the observations we have made in this study. This constitutes the foundation of this survey, where we contributes for a more effective and sustainable operation at one of Sweden's largest economy book producers. The purpose of this study is to examine the advantages and disadvantages that come with make-to-stock and a batch based logistics management of books. But also to identify the advantages that, according to the theory, can be achieved in a transition to make-to-order with a print-on-demand solution. The goal is to present recommendations for decision-making and future strategy for the company where this study took place, as well as to help other companies with similar needs and requirements. This case study is conducted at a Swedish company which essentially work with customer service / support to businesses using their accounting software and services. An important part of their service means publishing as well as e-books sale of information books. We have noticed that little is done to improve their efficiency and quality in this area. Our study shows that this company would gain several benefits by making use out of a print-on-demand solution. This because it would improve their quality in all respects we’ve focused on, with a lower total cost, no tied up capital and en reduced environmental impact.

Sammanfattning: Syfte: Arbetsdag för en snickare består till 60-80 % av icke värdeskapande arbete så som väntan. Syftet med rapporten är att förbättra ledtiden för SME-företag. Målet med arbetet är att utreda de faktorer som kan minska ledtiden för det totala material - och verktygsflödet. Metod: För att kunna identifiera brister och utreda de faktorer som kan minska ledtiden hos företaget har kvalitativa intervjuer och observationer utförts på tre olika byggarbetsplatser från Gärahovs bygg. Problemen blev lösta genom olika verktyg från Lean productions filosofi. Tidsbesparing i form av leveranser till och på arbetsplatsen har lösts genom "Just In Time (JIT)" som är det verktyg som förespråkar leveranser till rätt plats, med rätt mängd, vid rätt tidpunkt. Två andra verktyg har används för att lösa problemen med leveranser bland annat "Jidoka" som förespråkar: gör rätt från början och "Kaizen" som talar för ständiga förbättringar. Strukturen i verktygsbodarna och arbetsplatsen har behandlats med Lean productions "5S" som står för Sortera, Strukturera, Städa, Standardisera och Självdisciplin. Resultat: Just In Time (JIT), kvalitet och ständiga förbättringar är de Lean-verktyg som har använts vid skapandet av en "checklista" för mottagningen av leveranserna. Checklistan är till för att skapa en standardiserad rutin, effektivisera leveranserna, minimera risken att göra fel och slutligen minska ledtiden. Verktygsbodarna och arbetsplatsen bör struktureras upp gemensamt av platschef, arbetsledare och byggarbetarna med en standardiserad "checklista" som återfinns i rapporten. Checklistan är uppbyggd med Leans 5S i för att införa standardiserade rutiner. Syftet är att effektivisera ledtiden genom införande av standardiserade rutiner i form av checklistor, vad gäller leverans och struktur, därmed minska ledtiden och förbättra material - och verktygsflödet för SME-företag. Konsekvenser: En effektivare leveransmottagning samt en strukturerad byggarbetsplats skulle medföra kortare ledtider och effektivare flöden, detta medföra bättre konkurrenskraft på marknaden. Effektiviseringen är möjlig genom att införa en standardiserad rutin i form av checklistor. Begränsningar: Arbetet är avgränsat till små till medelstora byggföretag (SME-företag) med mindre än 249 anställda. Förbättringar av flöden då i form av leveranser till och på arbetsplatsen, samt strukturen i verktygsbodarna har fokus varit på tidsaspekterna. Detta berör i sin tur byggkostnaden och konkurrenskraften. Abstract: Purpose: A workday of a carpenter consists of 60-80% non-value added work, such as waiting. The report aims to improve the lead time for Small and medium sized enterprises. The goal is to investigate the factors which can reduce the lead time by improving the total material - and tool flow. Method: In order to identify shortcomings and to investigate the factors that can reduce the working hours of the company, qualitative interviews and observations has been performed on three different construction sites from Gärahovsbygg. The problems have been solved through various tools from Lean Productions philosophy. Time savings in the delivery of the supplies in and at the construction site has been resolved through the tool "Just In Time (JIT)". This is the tool that advocates delivery of the supplies to the right place, with the right amount, at the right time. Two other tools are also necessary to solve the problems with delivery of the supplies including "Jidoka" which advocates: do it right from the beginning and "Kaizen" which stands for continuous improvement. The structure of the tool sheds and the workplace have been treated with Lean Productions "5S" which stands for sort, straighten, shine, standardise, and self-discipline. Results: Just In Time (JIT), quality and continuous improvement are the tools that have been used in the creation of a "checklist". The checklist is designed to develop a standardized routine, to make deliveries more efficient and minimize the risk of making mistakes. Tool sheds and the workplace should be structured jointly by the site manager, supervisors and construction workers with a standard "checklist". The checklist is organized with 5S to establish standardized procedures which will help the workers to be more effective in their work, thus increasing performance and lowering costs. The aim is to make the lead time more efficient through the introduction of standardized procedures related to delivery and order, which in turn will reducing the lead times and improving material - and toolflow for SMEs. Consequences: A more efficient delivery receipt and a structured construction site would make shorter lead times and lead to better competitiveness in the market. This improvement of efficiency is possible by introducing a standardized procedure in the form of checklists. Limitations: The work will be limited to the small to medium-sized construction companies (SMEs), with less than 249 employees. Improvements of the deliveries to and at the construction site, the structure of the tool sheds and the workplace will affect the aspects of time. This in turn affects construction cost and competitiveness.
