Sjuksköterskor upplevde också att det är viktigt att de skapar en god relation till patienter för att kunna ge en hög kvalité av vård. Slutsats: Sjuksköterskor som hade brist på kunskap ska bli fortbildade för att kunna ge en säker och tryggvård till patienter med svåra sjukdomar och även bli tryggare i sin roll. Conclusion: Nurses who had a lack of knowledge must be further trained to be able to provide safe and secure care to patients with severe illnesses and also become more confident in their role. Bakgrund Varje år insjuknar 25 000-30 000 personer i Sverige med stroke. Stroke är ett samlingsbegrepp för hjärninfarkt och hjärnblödning som leder till syrebrist eller direkt skada i hjärnan. Hjärnskadorna kan leda till bestående eller övergående funktionsnedsättningar i varierande grad. Patienterna tas om hand av multidisciplinära team där sjuksköterskan ingår i alla leden i vårdkedjan. Sjuksköterskan utför omvårdnad för att stödja patienterna i deras återhämtning, vilket kan bidra till att förbättra prognosen för dessa patienter. Syfte Syftet med litteraturöversikten var att belysa sjuksköterskans upplevelser och erfarenheter av att vårda patienter som insjuknat i stroke. Metod Studiedesignen var en icke-systematisk litteraturöversikt. Studien baserades på 15 artiklar av både kvalitativ och kvantitativ design. Artikelsökningarna genomfördes i databaserna PubMed och CINAHL. Vidare gjordes en kvalitetsgranskning av de 15 vetenskapliga artiklarnas kvalitet och trovärdighet. Betydelsefulla aspekter och förhållningssätt som identifierades var att känna ett yrkesansvar, arbeta i multidisciplinära team, arbeta utifrån personcentrerad vård och sjuksköterskans relation med patientens närstående. Förbättringsområden inom strokevård var enligt sjuksköterskorna mer strokeutbildning, bättre samarbete i det multidisciplinära stroketeamet och med patientens närstående. Återkommande problem var tidsbrist och underbemanning. The nurse performs nursing care to support patients in their recovery and can help improve prognosis for these patients. Aim The purpose of the literature review was to describe the nurse's experiences in caring for patients taken ill with stroke. Method The design of the study was a non-systematic literature review. The study was based on 15 articles of both qualitative and quantitative design. The article searches were made in the databases PubMed and CINAHL. Furthermore, a quality review was made of the quality and credibility of the 15 articles. Finally, an integrated overview was used as a data analysis method to complete the result. Results The literature review summarized the nurse's experiences of caring for stroke patients. Identified significant aspects and attitudes were as follows, to feel a professional responsibility, to work in multidisciplinary teams, to practice person-centered care, and the nurses' relationship with the patient's relatives. According to the nurses, areas for improvement in stroke care were more stroke training, and better collaboration in multidisciplinary stroke teams and with the patient's relatives. Recurring problems were lack of time and understaffing. Conclusions By studying and summarizing the nurse's experiences in caring for patients taken ill with stroke significant aspects, attitudes and areas for improvement in stroke care can be understood.

Bakgrund: Palliativ vård handlar om att lindra ett lidande, främja patientens livskvalitet samt att beakta patientens behov vid ett obotligt sjukdomstillstånd. Många patienter som vårdas inom palliativ vård önskar att få somna in i sitt eget hem. Sjuksköterskan behöver då ha kunskap, kompetens och erfarenhet för att vårda patienten på bästa sätt. Syfte: Att beskriva sjuksköterskors erfarenheter av att vårda vuxna patienter som erhåller palliativ vård i hemmet. Metod: En kvalitativ litteraturöversikt som baserades på elva vårdvetenskapliga artiklar. Databaserna som användes var CINAHL och PsycINFO samt en manuell sökning. Analysen gjordes enligt Fribergs analysstruktur. Från analysen framträdde två huvudteman och sex subteman. Resultat: Resultatet presenteras i två huvudteman: Att samarbeta i team, Att möta utmaningar vid palliativ vård i hemmet. Vidare presenterades sex subteman: Att samarbeta interprofessionellt, Att samarbeta med patienter, Att samarbeta med närstående, Att anpassa vården i hemmiljön och att känna osäkerhet, Att uppleva att personcentrerad vård inte prioriteras. Slutsats: God kommunikation och samarbete underlättar en säker och personcentrerad vård. Sjuksköterskans arbetsmiljö brister på flera plan, vilket ger risk för skador och stressrelaterade symtom. Aim: To describe nurses experiences of caring for adult patients who are receiving palliative care in their home. Method: A qualitative literature review based on eleven nursing scientific articles. The databases used were CINAHL, PsycINFO and a manual search. The analysis was performed according to Friberg's analysis structure. From the analysis, two main themes and six sub-themes emerged. Background: Violence in a close relationship refers to various acts that can be repeated and systematic, it occurs through physical, mental, financial, sexual violence and abuse. the suffering. Communication is the basis for all meetings, this means listening, understanding and getting closer and being able to receive the affected woman's report of violence. Aim: The aim was to describe nurses' experiences of and attitudes towards meeting women who are exposed to violence in close relationships. Aim: The purpose was to describe nurses' experiences of and attitudes towards meeting women who have been subjected to violence in a close relationship. Method: Literature review performed through 10 selected qualitative scientific studies. The studies were analyzed according to Friberg's method. Scientific articles were retrieved from two database Cinahl Complete and Pubmed. Conclusion: The results of this literature review have been themed on the basis of four themes; (1) exposure to violence eats away at the nurse's strengths, (2) finding the balance between personal values and the nurse's professional role, (3) feeling understanding and hesitation in meeting women who have been subjected to violence & (4) lack of support and room for maneuver in the organization Results: nurses described that it was difficult to meet abused women. Nurses described that it was not obvious how they would act in that situation. This was because the nurses did not understand the situation correctly, they had prejudices, fears or defense mechanisms. A conflict between themselves and their role, organizational constraints or uncontrolled stress made it difficult to work.

Background: In Sweden there are approximately 130 000 to 150 000 people suffering from dementia and according to research this number may double by the year 2050. Dementia is a chronic disorder meaning it is irreversible and those suffering from dementia will deteriorate with time, therefore patients often need specialist care. Knowledge and experience within the field of the various dementia disorders is necessary to provide effective care and ensure quality of life for these patients. According to patients, and relatives of those suffering, the quality of care depends on the relationship between the nurse and patient, and whether nurses have specialist training in dementia care and person centred care (PCC). Aim: The aim of this literature study is to describe nurses' experience of caring for people with dementia. Method: A literature study with descriptive design was conducted based on twelve scientific articles from three different databases: PubMed, Cinahl and PsycINFO. Main results: Through thematic analysing of the twelve chosen scientific articles three main headings emerged along with eight subheadings describing nurses experiences of caring for people with dementia. Theme number one described the importance of individual care in terms of examination, communication, activities and environmental factors. Theme number two focused on relationships that according to the nurses affected the quality of care they provided for the patients. The third theme described nurses' experiences of how resources such as further education as well as better organisation of work and staffing affected their quality of care for patients suffering from dementia. Conclusion: The literature study shows that nurses within dementia care need further education and practical experience to deliver good quality PCC. To make this possible well organised staffing and work structuring from a higher level of management is necessary to create a secure and caring environment where both nurses and patients are satisfied. Detta innebär att dessa patienter kräver en allt mer anpassad och specialiserad omvårdnad där kunskap och erfarenheter kring demenssjukdom spelar en vital roll för patienternas välmående och livskvalité. Vårdkvalitén enligt patienter och anhöriga avgörs beroende på relationen mellan sjuksköterska och patient samt sjuksköterskornas utbildning och kunskap gällande personcentrerad vård (PCV). Syfte: Att beskriva sjuksköterskors erfarenheter kring omvårdnaden av människor med demenssjukdom. Metod: En beskrivande litteraturstudie där tolv artiklar från databaserna PubMed, Cinahl och PsycINFO står för litteraturstudiens resultat. Huvudresultat: En tematisk analys av de tolv utvalda artiklarna resulterade i tre huvudteman samt åtta underteman där sjuksköterskors upplevelser kring omvårdnaden av människor med demenssjukdom beskrevs. Det första temat fokuserade på individanpassning av vård i form av undersökning, kommunikation, aktiviteter och miljö. Slutsats: Resultatet av litteraturstudien visar att sjuksköterskor inom demenssjukvården behöver ytterligare specialistutbildning samt praktisk erfarenhet för att möjliggöra god kvalitativ vård i form av PCV. Detta kräver att organisationen kring omvårdnadsarbetet förbättras och stöds på en organisatorisk nivå som resulterar i en trygg och säker arbets- och omvårdnadsmiljö där både sjuksköterskor och patienter trivs.

Sjuksköterskor kommer i sitt yrke möta både förväntade och oväntade dödsfall och det krävs att sjuksköterskor utvecklar yrkeskompetens för att kunna hantera de emotionella upplevelserna i samband med dödsfall. Sjuksköterskeutbildningen bör förbereda sjuksköterskor inför att möta döende och avlidna personer och vilka uppgifter sjuksköterskor har kring dödsfall, dock uttrycks en brist i utbildningen.Syfte: Syftet med denna litteraturöversikt var att beskriva sjuksköterskors upplevelser i samband med dödsfall inom slutenvården.Metod: Litteraturöversikten är baserad på 16 vetenskapliga artiklar, både kvalitativa och kvantitativa, som är publicerade mellan 2010 och 2020 och hämtade från databaserna CINAHL, PsycINFO och PubMed.Resultat: Resultatet visar att sjuksköterskor påverkas av dödsfall både personligt och yrkesmässigt, det beskrivs även att stöd efter dessa upplevelser är viktigt för att hantera upplevda känslor. Vidare visar resultatet att sjuksköterskor inte alltid är förberedda på vilket ansvar de har vid dödsfall i förhållande till anhöriga. The nursing education should prepare nurses to meet dying and deceased people and what information nurses have about deaths, however, a shortcoming is expressed in the education.Aim: The aim of this literature overview was to describe nurses' experiences in connection with deaths in inpatient care.Method: The literature review is based on 16 scientific articles both qualitative and quantitative that were published between 2010 and 2020 and retrieved from the databases CINAHL, PsycINFO and PubMed.Results: The results show that nurses are affected by deaths both personally and professionally, it is also described that support after these experiences is important for dealing with perceived emotions. Furthermore, the results show that nurses are not always prepared for the responsibility they have in the event of death in relation to relatives. Differences emerge in experiences of expected and unexpected deaths, where nurses experience unexpected deaths as more difficult to deal with.Conclusion: Nurses are affected both personally and professionally and most nurses feel some form of grief when a patient die. Relatives' reactions can affect how the nurse experiences the death. Getting support is an important part of dealing with these situations. Experiences of death are also described as developing for nurses.

Bakgrund: Årligen är cirka 20 miljoner barn världen över i behov av någon form av omvårdnad i livets slutskede. All vård av barn skall vara utformad så att särskild hänsyn tas till barnets bästa. Sjuksköterskans uppgifter vid vård i livets slutskede är att lindra lidande, tillgodose familjens behov samt att bemöta familjerna med respekt, värdighet, medkänsla och med hänsyn till patientens integritet. Syfte: Syftet var att beskriva sjuksköterskors upplevelser av att vårda barn i livets slutskede. Metod: Studien genomfördes som en litteraturstudie med induktiv ansats. Tio resultatartiklar inhämtades och bearbetades i en innehållsanalys. Resultat: Analysen resulterade i tre huvudteman med tillhörande underteman. Huvudtemana var: positiva och negativa känslor, kommunikativa utmaningar och behov av stöd och utbildning. Sjuksköterskorna betonade att arbetet med barn i livets slutskede gav såväl positiva som negativa känslor. Flera sjuksköterskor upplevde brist på tillräcklig utbildning och stöd. Konklusion: Sjuksköterskornas upplevelser visade att omvårdnaden av barn i livets slutskede kunde vara givande, trots tuffa och sorgfyllda situationer. För att förbättra sjuksköterskornas upplevelser är det av stor vikt med en ökad kunskap och utbildning, specifikt inom kommunikation, samt förbättrade möjligheter till stöd på en organisatorisk nivå. The nurse’s responsibilities in end-of-lifecare are to alleviate suffering, fulfill the family’s needs and approach them with respect, dignity, compassion and integrity. Aim: The aim was to describe nurses’ experiences of caring for children at the end of life. Method: The study was conducted as a literature study with an inductive approach. Ten result articles were selected and examined using content analysis. Result: The analysis resulted in three main themes with associated sub-themes. The main themes were: positive and negative emotions, communicative challenges and a need for support and education. The nurses emphasized that end-of-life care of children induced both positive and negative emotions. Several nurses experienced a lack of knowledge and support. Conclusion: The nurses’ experiences showed that caring for children at the end of life could be rewarding, despite the sorrow and tough situations. To improve the nurses’ experiences, it is imperative to increase their knowledge and education, specifically regarding communication, and improving the opportunities for support at an organizational level.

Bakgrund: Smärta är en personligt upplevd förnimmelse som finns för att signalera att något i kroppen är fel. I de fall då smärtan inte pågått i mer än 3–6 månader klassas den som akut. Sjuksköterskor har till uppgift att identifiera smärta hos patienten och för att underlätta detta har det utvecklats smärtskattningsskalor. Syfte: Syftet med studien var att beskriva sjuksköterskors erfarenhet av faktorer som kan påverka användning av smärtskattningsskalor vid akut smärta hos patienter på sjukhus. Metod: En allmän litteraturstudie utifrån Polit och Becks niostegsprincip med nio kvalitativa och tre kvantitativa artiklar. Resultat: Sjuksköterskor anser att det råder kunskapsluckor gällande smärtskattningsskalor. De menar också att tidsbristen och andra organisatoriska aspekter hindrar dem från att smärtskatta utifrån skalor. Likaså är bristande kommunikation mellan patienter och sjuksköterskor en anledning som försvårar identifieringen av smärtan med hjälp av smärtskattningsskalor. Slutsats: Sjuksköterskors erfarenheter av smärtskattning utifrån smärtskattningsskalor utgår från utbildningsnivå, arbetsplatsens smärtskattningsrutiner och sjuksköterskors arbetsbörda. Förslag på fortsatt forskning: Det behövs utvärderas fler strategier och rutiner på hur smärtskattningsskalor kan användas, samt fler skalor anpassade till olika patientgrupper.

Bakgrund: Ungefär 2000 personer i Sverige insjuknar varje år i någon form av psykos. Psykossjukdom förknippas ofta med fördomar och stigmatisering. Forskning har visat att ju mer stigmatisering psykossjuka patienter förväntar sig från omgivningen, desto mer ökar deras stigmatisering av sig själva, vilket i sin tur påverkar deras återhämtning negativt. Personer med psykossjukdom har också beskrivit att de ej fått fullgod somatisk vård på grund av sin psykiska sjukdom. Syfte: Syftet med föreliggande litteraturstudie var att beskriva sjuksköterskors upplevelser av att möta patienter med psykossjukdom inom den somatiska vården. Metod: En beskrivande litteraturstudie baserat på 5 kvalitativa och 5 kvantitativa vetenskapliga artiklar. PubMed och Cinahl var de databaser som användes i sökningarna till de inkluderade artiklarna. Huvudresultat: Okunskapen kring psykossjukdomar beskrevs vara stor inom den somatiska vården. Sjuksköterskor upplevde ofta känslor som rädsla, anspänning och osäkerhet, vilket gjorde mötet med dessa patienter problematiskt. Begränsningar som tidsbrist i den somatiska vårdmiljön beskrevs bidra till ogynnsamma förutsättningar i mötet med psykossjuka patienter. Slutsats: Stigmatisering, okunskap och brister i vårdmiljön kan leda till att omvårdnaden för patienter med psykossjukdom blir bristfällig, och att de inte får vård på lika villkor som andra. Det är därför viktigt att sjuksköterskor blir medvetna om sina egna attityder och fördomar, och att de somatiska verksamheterna erbjuder sjuksköterskor mer kunskap om ämnet. De somatiska verksamheterna bör även se över möjligheter till förbättring i vårdmiljön. Background: Every year approximately 2000 people in Sweden fall ill to some kind of psychotic disorder. Psychotic disorders are often associated with prejudice and stigma. Research has shown a connection between the expected external stigma, internal stigma and the recovery of patients with a psychotic disorder. It has also been described that patients with a psychotic disorder has received insufficient care due to their psychiatric illness. Aim: The aim of this study was to describe how nurses experience the encounter with patients that are suffering from a psychotic disorder within the somatic inpatient and outpatient care. Method: A descriptive literature study based on 5 qualitative and 5 quantitative scientific articles. The databases that was used to obtain articles was PubMed and Cinahl. Main result: It appeared that there is a substantial lack of knowledge regarding psychotic disorders within the somatic care. Nurses often experienced feelings of fear, tension and insecurity, which made the encounter with these patients problematic. Limitations such as time constraints contributed to unfavourable conditions in the care of patients with a psychotic disorder. Conclusion: Stigma, lack of knowledge and deficiencies in the care environment could make the care that patients with a psychotic disorder receive inadequate. Therefore, it is important that nurses in the somatic inpatient and outpatient care become aware of their own preconceptions and attitudes towards these patients, and that nurses get access to additional knowledge on this topic. The somatic units should also try to make improvements in the care environment.

Flertalet sjuksköterskor upplever svårigheter i att vårda döende patienter. Olika känslor uppkommer och varierar beroende på tidigare erfarenhet inom området. För att patienten ska dö med värdighet krävs det att livskvaliteten upprätthålls ända fram till dödstillfället. Problem i omvårdnaden synliggörs när sjuksköterskan upplever att egen erfarenhet, kunskap och förståelse inte är tillräcklig. Det kan resultera i kommunikationssvårigheter, osäkerhet och en otillräcklig helhetssyn av patienten. Syftet med studien är att undersöka hur sjuksköterskor utan erfarenhet inom palliativ vård upplever vårdandet av patienter i livets slutskede. Metoden som användes var allmän litteraturbaserad metod. Nio vårdvetenskapliga studier ingår i resultatet och tre teman kunde urskiljas: Erfarenhet av döden i vårdande kontext, kommunikation och sjuksköterskans upplevelse av döden. Ur dessa teman framkom sju subteman: att bli känslomässigt påverkad, erfarenhet av vårdande i livets slut, att kommunicera med patient och anhöriga, att kommunicera med kollegor, när kommunikationen är en utmaning, den goda döden, den dåliga döden. Resultatet påvisar vikten av kommunikation, erfarenhet, ärlighet och öppenhet i vårdandet av patienten i livets slutskede. Utifrån resultatet diskuteras utvalda upplevelser som vårdandet i livets slutskede medför. Detta gäller sjuksköterskans känslor, erfarenhet, förmåga att kommunicera samt sjuksköterskestudenter och handledares perspektiv. Genom reflektion kan ökad förståelse och därmed ökad kunskap uppnås. Sammantaget är det många faktorer som behövs för att vårdandet i livets slutskede ska vara av god kvalitet.

Bakgrund: PDMS, Patient Data Management System, är ett kliniskt informationssystem som är speciellt utvecklat för intensivvård som genererar stora mängder patientdata. Systemet samlar automatiskt in patientdata från övervakning och medicinskteknisk apparatur och presenterar informationen på ett överskådligt sätt. Tidigare forskning belyser framförallt användbarheten, den minskade dokumentationstiden samt fördelar med läkemedelshanteringen men visar motsägelsefulla resultat vad gäller vad den frigjorda tiden används till. Syfte: att belysa intensivvårdssjuksköterskors erfarenhet av att använda PDMS i vårdarbetet. Metod: kvalitativ intervjustudie med intensivvårdssjuksköterskor som analyserats med hjälp av en kvalitativ innehållsanalys. Resultat: i resultatet framträder fem kategorier; patientnära vårdande, evidensbaserad vård, olika former av kvalitetsutveckling, säker vård och informatik. Dessa kategorier återger intensivvårdssjuksköterskornas erfarenheter av att arbeta med PDMS och resultatet visar tydligt att PDMS ökar patientsäkerheten på flera sätt. Konklusion: Ökad vårdkvalitet, minskad dokumentationstid, mer lättförståeligt kontinuerligt lärande för personalen, möjlighet till uppföljning och forskning samt säkrare läkemedelshantering anses vara de största vinsterna med PDMS. Sammantaget bidrar samtliga faktorer till en ökad patientsäkerhet. Background: PDMS, Patient Data Management System, is a clinical information system specially developed for intensive care which generates a large amount of patient data. The system automatically collects patient data from monitoring and medical equipment and presents the information in a clear overall view. Previous research highlights especially usability of the system, reduced time spent on documentation and benefits with handling medications but shows contradictory results in terms of what the released time is used for. Aim: to highlight intensive care nurses experiences of using PDMS in nursing. Method: qualitative interview-study with intensive care nurses which was analyzed with qualitative content analysis. Results: five categories came forward in the result; close-to-patient care, evidece-based care, different forms of quality developement, safe care and informatics. These categories reflects the experiences of working with PDMS among intensive care nurses and the results clearly demonstrate that PDMS increases patient safety for several reasons. Conclusion: increased quality of care, reduced documentation time, more easy-to-understand continuous learning for the staff, opportunity to follow-up and posibility for reasearch and safer handling with medications are considered the biggest gains with PDMS. Overall, all factors contribute to increased patient safety.

Bakgrund: Varje år dör 90 000–100 000 personer i Sverige, varav många erhåller palliativ vård den sista tiden. Vård i livets slut är en del av den sena palliativa fasen där målet är att skapa välbefinnande och lindra lidande. Sjuksköterskan har det övergripande ansvaret vid vård av patienter i livet slut. Dock erbjuder sjuksköterskehögskolorna begränsad utbildning i palliativ vård. Syfte: Syftet i litteraturöversikten var att beskriva sjuksköterskestudenter och nyutexaminerade sjuksköterskors upplevelse av att vårda patienter i livets slut. Metod: En litteraturöversikt har framställts där elva vetenskapliga artiklar har analyserats utifrån Fribergs (2017) analysmetod. Artiklarna har varit av kvalitativ karaktär varav två även använt kvantitativ metod. Databaserna som användes var CINAHL Complete och PubMed. Resultat: Litteraturöversikten resulterade i tre teman: Emotionella och kommunikativa utmaningar, Föreställningar om döden och Att möta vårdverkligheten – utbildning, erfarenhet och stöd. Sjuksköterskorna upplevde emotionella påfrestningar i samband med vård i livets slut. Personliga erfarenheter och värderingar påverkade de oerfarna sjuksköterskornas idéer om vad en god död innebär. Sjuksköterskorna ansåg att utbildningen inte förberett dem inför vård av patienter i livets slut. Diskussion: Författarna diskuterade i metoddiskussionen styrkor och svagheter med litteraturöversikten. I resultatdiskussionen diskuterade författarna huvudfynden i arbetet utifrån Travelbees omvårdnadsteori om den mellanmänskliga relationen samt mot bakgrunden och annan forskning. Background: In Sweden 90 000-100 000 people die each year, many of whom require palliative care during the last period. End of life care is a part of the late palliative phase and solely involves care that relieves suffering and creates well-being. The nurse has the overall responsibility in the end of life care. However, the nursing universities provide a limited education in palliative care. Aim: The aim of the literature review was to describe undergraduate nursing students and new graduated nurses experience of caring for people in the end of life. Method: A literature review has been developed, were eleven scholarly articles emerged and analyzed using the Friberg (2017) method. The articles have been qualitative, while two also used a quantitative method. The databases CINAHL Complete and PubMed were used. Results: The literature review resulted in three themes: Emotional and communicative challenges, Notions about death and Facing the reality – education, experience and support. The nurses experienced emotional challenges when working in end of life care. Personal experiences and values effected the novice nurses’ ideas of a good death. The education did not prepare the nurses for end of life care. Discussion: The authors discussed strengths and weaknesses of the literature review in the method discussion. The result discussion discussed the main findings using Travelbees human-to-human relationship model and previous research.

Bakgrund: Cannabis är den vanligaste drogen i världen. Cannabismissbruket har successivt ökat de senaste åren. De vanligaste negativa effekterna av cannabis är ångest, panikreaktioner och psykotiska symtom. Många patienter med cannabismissbruk har även psykiska diagnoser. Sjuksköterskor upplever frustrationer när patienter med cannabismissbruk inte vill ta del av behandling och anser att patienter med dubbeldiagnoser är svårbehandlade. Syfte: Att beskriva sjuksköterskors erfarenhet av omvårdnad av patienter med cannabismissbruk inom psykiatrisk vård. Design: Studien har en kvalitativ, induktiv analysmetod. Metod: Intervjuer med 18 sjuksköterskor inom öppen och sluten psykiatrisk vård. Resultat: Sjuksköterskorna uttryckte frustrationer över patientens liberala inställning till cannabis, att patienten såg drogen som ofarlig och inte kopplade missbruket till sina psykiska problem. De möjligheter sjuksköterskorna såg i omvårdnaden var att utgå från där patienten befinner sig, att inte komma med pekpinnar och använda sina erfarenheter av patientgruppen för att motivera patienten till att sluta med missbruket. Konklusion: Sjuksköterskorna uttryckte att de saknade och var i behov av utbildning om patienter med cannabismissbruk för att kunna ge god omvårdnad till patientgruppen. Background: Cannabis is the most commonly used drug in the world. Cannabis abuse has gradually increased in recent years. The most common adverse effects of cannabis use include anxiety, panic reaction and psychotic symptoms. Many patients who abuse cannabis has also psychiatric diagnoses. Nurses experience frustration when patients who abuse cannabis do not want to take part in treatment and considering patients with dual diagnoses are difficult to treat. Aim: To describe nurses’ experience of psychiatric care of patients who abuse cannabis. Design: This study has an inductive, qualitative approach. Method: Interviews with 18 nurses in outpatient and inpatient psychiatric care. Results: The nurses expressed frustrations with the liberal approach the patient had to cannabis, the patient´s approach to the drug as harmless and that the patient did not link abuse to psychological problems. The nurses expressed that they saw opportunities in nursing; to start from the patient´s point of view, not lecturing the patient and to use their experience of this group of patients to motivate the patient to quit his or her abuse. Conclusion: The nurses expressed lack of and need for adequate training in the care of the patient with cannabis abuse.

Background: Caring for an elderly person at the end of life means a complex care situation for healthcare professionals. There are several factors to consider in this regard; the patient's, relatives and healthcare staff as described in this work from the nurse. Aim: The purpose of the study was to describe municipality nurses' experiences of caring for older people in the final stages of life. Method: The study had a descriptive design with a qualitative approach. Data were collected through eight interviews and analyzed using a qualitative manifest content analysis, whereas five categories and ten sub-categories emerged. Results: The result is that the nurse practitioners saw this work as meaningful but also emotional stress. Feelings like insufficiency, participation, adequacy and existential issues were raised at the nurse's nurse. The palliative care complexity was visualized as the patient's self-determination, relatives, and nursing staff's needs were made visible and met. Conclusion: Palliative care is a person-centered care based on patient needs, which proved to be complex. Corresponding to these expectations and implementing the required care creates experiences, good and less good, with nurses who consciously or not, affect them regardless of patient or care opportunity and give a chance of reflection, further experience and opportunity to grow as a person and in profession. Bakgrund: Substansmissbruk har en negativ inverkan på kroppen och är en bidragande faktor till några av världens alla sjukdomsfall. Drogtillgängligheten har ökat och visar på en uppåtgående trend. Patienter med substansmissbruk som söker vård upplever att deras behov inte tas på allvar. Sjuksköterskornas uppgift i detta är att skapa en så god och effektiv vård som möjligt, där patienterna känner sig delaktiga och respekterade. Syfte: Att undersöka sjuksköterskors erfarenheter av att vårda personer med substansproblematik. Metod: Litteraturöversikten bestod av tio vetenskapliga artiklar hämtade från databaserna Cinahl Complete och PubMed. Samtliga artiklar berörde sjuksköterskors erfarenheter av att vårda patienter med substansmissbruk. Resultatet har framställt utifrån likheter och skillnader mellan artiklarna. Resultat: Resultatet visade att sjuksköterskor från olika avdelningar hade olika erfarenheter av att ge vård till patienter med missbruksproblematik. Oavsett avdelning hade ingen av sjuksköterskorna någon specifik utbildning inriktad på ämnet missbruk och beroende. Däremot hade sjuksköterskor som arbetade inom psykiatrin, avgiftningscenter samt alkohol- och drogavdelningar mer erfarenhet av att bemöta dessa patienter. Diskussion: Diskussionen har utgått ifrån Parses teori Humanbecoming. Den berörde med hjälp av teorin sjuksköterskornas olika erfarenheter och hur vården formas utefter detta. Den avslutades med vilken inverkan utbildningen och vårdmiljön har på vården för patienter med substansmissbruk och beroende. Background: Substance abuse has a negative impact on the body and is contributing to some of the world's diseases. The drug availability has increased, showing an upward trend. Patients with substance abuse who seek care feel that their needs are not taken seriously. The nurse’s role in this is to create a care that is as good and efficient as possible, where patients feel involved and respected. Aim: To investigate nurses' experiences of caring for people with substance use problems. Method: The literature review consisted of ten scientific articles taken from the databases Cinahl Complete and PubMed. All articles were based on nurses’ experiences of caring for patients with substance abuse. The result was constructed on the similarities and differences between the articles. Results: The results showed that nurses from various departments had different experiences of providing care to patients with substance abuse problems. Nurses working on different kind of departments did not have any specific training focused on substance abuse. In contrast, nurses who worked in psychiatry, detoxification centers, and alcohol and drug departments, had more experience of dealing with patients suffering from this sort of disease. Discussion: The discussion has been based on Parse's theory Humanbecoming. With help of the theory the discussion included the nurses’ different experiences and how healthcare is formed along this. It concluded with the impact education and healthcare environment has on the care for patients with substance abuse.

Background: Dementia impairs cognitive functions, such as memory and speech, changing a person’s life forever. Providing person-centred care to these persons intend to retain their identities, dignity and autonomy. Such care demands time, devotion and good knowledge of the caring nurse. Dementia is expected to increase in the future and therefore nurses will have to face new challenges. Aim: To describe nurses’ experience of providing person-centred care for people with dementia. Method: A literature review of 15 articles, published between 2009-2016, that have been read and analysed through content-analysis. Results: Nurses experience a positive change in their attitudes, when providing person-centred care to people with dementia, as they gained better understanding of their patients’ dignity and integrity. Education, training and support from management were seen as key factors for providing up-to-date care. Time was viewed as a hindrance for person-centred care, and often led to nurses prioritizing other routines. Two common outcomes of person-centred care were increased satisfaction as well as emotional burnout. Conclusion: Since dementia is increasing and nurses find person-centred care time-consuming, there is a risk of such care becoming poor. To prevent this nurses need good leadership and education. Bakgrund: Generellt betraktas flyktingar, asylsökande och papperslösa ingå i en sårbar population. Med hänsyn till det ökande antalet asylsökande i Sverige det senaste decenniet, kommer de flesta som arbetar inom hälso- och sjukvård troligen att möta patienter som har en flyktingbakgrund. Många yrkesgrupper i vården saknar däremot kunskaper om migrationens påverkan och vilka rättigheter patienten har. Sjuksköterskor måste ha förmågan att tillgodose patientens såväl fysiska, psykiska, sociala, andliga som kulturella behov, och göra detta på ett kulturellt känsligt sätt. Syfte: Syftet var att belysa sjuksköterskors erfarenheter av att vårda flyktingar, asylsökande och papperslösa. Metod: En litteraturöversikt enligt Fribergs metod genomfördes. Arbetet baseras på tolv vetenskapliga artiklar av både kvalitativ och kvantitativ metod från databaserna CINAHL och PubMed. Efter analys av materialet utkristalliserades teman och subteman. Resultat: Resultatet redogörs i form av två huvudteman med tillhörande subteman. Det första huvudtemat Erfarenheter av hinder i vårdmötet behandlar de olika hindrande faktorer för sjuksköterskan i mötet med patienter som är flyktingar, asylsökande och papperslösa. Det andra huvudtemat Sjuksköterskors känslomässiga reaktioner behandlar de subjektiva känslorna som väckts hos sjuksköterskorna i arbetet med denna patientgrupp. Diskussion: Resultatet tyder på att sjuksköterskorna erfor svårigheter i kommunikationen, samt svårigheter i att vårda på grund av olika syn på hälsa. Stereotypbilder och föreställningar om patienter kunde även förekomma, vilket påverkade vårdandet negativt. Dessa betydande fynd diskuteras i relation till Leiningers teori om transkulturell omvårdnad. Background: In general, refugees, asylum seekers and undocumented migrants are considered to be a vulnerable population. With regards to the increasing number of asylum applicants during the last decade in Sweden, health care staff is likely to encounter individuals with a refugee background. Although, many working in health care have limited knowledge about the effects of migration and legal rights. Nurses are required to have the ability to meet patients’ physical, psychological, social, spiritual as well as cultural needs, and to deliver the care in a culturally sensible way. Aim: The aim of this bachelor’s thesis was to illustrate nurses’ experiences of caring for refugees, asylum seekers and undocumented migrants. Method: A literature review according to Friberg’s method was conducted. Twelve scientific articles of both qualitative and quantitative design are the foundation of this paper. Data was collected from the databases CINAHL and PubMed. Themes and subthemes were then formed after analyses of the material. Results: The results are presented in two main themes along with their subthemes. The first main theme Experiences of obstacles in caring describes various difficulties the nurses encountered while caring for patients who are refugees, asylum seekers and undocumented migrants. The second main theme The nurses’ emotional reactions describes subjective feelings the nurses expressed while working with patients who have this background. Discussion: The results show that nurses experienced difficulties in the communication and difficulties giving care related to different cultural views on health. Stereotyping and bias of patients could also occur among nurses, which affected the care negatively. These consequential findings are discussed in relation to Leininger’s theory of transcultural nursing.

Background The word cancer is a term used to describe about 200 different diseases. Cancer patients often receive palliative care, where the purpose is to relive suffering and promote quality of life. Previous research shows that nurses often have a negative approach towards cancer, especially because the lack of knowledge and insecurity in how to communicate with these patients. Aim The aim of this study was to describe nurses' experiences of caring for patients with cancer receiving palliative care in a hospital ward. Method The method used in this study was a literature review based on qualitative studies. Fourteen articles were analysed according to Friberg's (2006) qualitative content analyse in five steps for literature-based studies. Results The result showed that nurses have mixed feelings about meeting patients with cancer in a palliative phase. They had feelings of inadequacy and they felt a great responsibility, many nurses experienced feelings of gratitude towards working with palliative patients with cancer. Nurses also expressed that communication and a trusting relationship with the patients were important. The nurses often felt that they didn't have enough time to give the care that the patients deserved because of a high workload. Conclusion Patients with cancer in a palliative phase are a complex area. Nurses may experience providing care to patients in palliative care as emotionally stressful. To be able to provide high quality care trusting relationships were essential between nurses and patients. Patients with cancer are in need of support from the nurse, but the nurses experienced that time is not enough.

Bakgrund: Psykisk ohälsa är vanligt förekommande hos Sveriges befolkning och räknas till en av folksjukdomarna. Personer med psykisk ohälsa kan drabbas av psykiska eller fysiska besvär och söker sig då till vården där patienterna kommer att möta sjuksköterskor. Syfte: Belysa sjuksköterskornas upplevelser av att bemöta patienter med psykisk ohälsa i vården. Metod: Litteraturöversikt som bygger på åtta kvalitativa artiklar. Resultat: Tre huvudkategorier och två subkategorier skapades. Första huvudkategorin var kunskapens betydelse i vårdandet av patienter med psykisk ohälsa med subkategorierna positiva upplevelser av kunskapens betydelse och negativa upplevelser av kunskapens betydelse. Andra huvudkategorin var upplevda yrkesroll i mötet av patienter med psykisk ohälsa. Tredje huvudkategorin var upplevda känslor i mötet av patienter med psykisk ohälsa med subkategorierna positiva upplevelser och negativa upplevelser. Diskussion: Fynd i huvudkategorierna som diskuterades var sjuksköterskornas bristande kunskap och kompetens leder till att patienter med psykisk ohälsa inte erbjuds den vård de har rätt till. Okunskapen kan leda till rädsla för det okända och en känsla av att psykiatrin inte är en del av allmänsjuksköterskornas ansvar., Background: Mental health illness is common within the Swedish population and is considered an endemic disease. People with mental health illness can suffer from psychological or physical issues and will turn to the health care system, where they will meet nurses. Aim: Shed light on nurses’ experiences of encountering patients with mental health illness in health care facilities. Method: A literature review based on eight qualitative studies. Result: Three main categories and two subcategories were created. The first main category was the importance of education in the encounter with patients with mental health illness with positive experiences in regards to the importance of education and negative experiences in regards to the importance of education as subcategories. The second main category was perceived professional role in the encounter with patients with mental health illness. The third main category was perceived feelings in the encounter with patients with mental illness. The subcategories were positive experiences and negative experiences. Discussion: Findings in the main categories were discussed, where the nurses' lack of knowledge and skills are evident. This means that patients with mental health illness are not cared for in a way they should. The lack of knowledge can lead to fear of the unknown as well as feeling like psychiatry isn't a part of the general nurses’ responsibility.

SAMMANFATTNING Syftet med föreliggande studie var att undersöka dialyssjuksköterskors upplevelse i mötet med en patient som vill avsluta, eller som inte är kapabel att uttrycka sig kring, sin livsuppehållande dialysbehandling. En deskriptiv intervjustudie med kvalitativ ansats utfördes på två dialysmottagningar i Mellansverige. Innehållsanalys av intervjuerna genomfördes vilket gav fem huvudkategorier; sjuksköterskors upplevelse av bristfällig kommunikation och samarbete med läkare, sjuksköterskors upplevelse av läkares svårigheter att diskutera avslutande av dialysbehandling, sjuksköterskors upplevelse av att vårda patienter som inte är kapabla att uttrycka sig kring sin dialysbehandling, sjuksköterskors upplevelse av att vårda patienter som säger, eller på något annat sätt uttrycker, att de vill avsluta sin dialysbehandling och sjuksköterskors upplevelse av stöd och samtal i vården kring patienter som vill avsluta sin dialysbehandling. Huvudresultatet visar att dialyssjuksköterskor upplever många etiska dilemman i mötet med denna patientgrupp. Mötet med en patient som säger, eller på något annat sätt uttrycker att de vill avsluta behandlingen upplevdes positivt, dock upplevdes innebörden av uttrycken ibland vara svåra att tolka. Sjuksköterskorna upplevde det många gånger frustrerande att vårda en patient som inte är kapabel att uttrycka sin vilja om fortsatt eller avslutande dialysbehandling. Slutsatsen var att ytterligare forskning inom detta område är nödvändig för att rutiner och riktlinjer skall kunna utformas. ABSTRACT The aim of the study was to investigate the dialysis nurses' experience of meeting with a patient who wants to end, or a patient who is not able to express itself about, its life-sustaining dialysis treatment. A descriptive interview study with qualitative approach was used on two dialysis centers in central Sweden. Content analysis of the interviews were conducted which resulted in five main categories: nurses' experience of poor communication and cooperation with physicians, nurses' experience of physician's difficulty to discuss the closure of the dialysis treatment, nurses' experience of caring for patients who are unable to express themselves about their dialysis treatment, nurses' experience of caring for patients saying, or otherwise expressing, that they want to end their dialysis treatment and nurses' experience of support and conversations in health care, around patients who want to end their dialysis treatment. The main result shows that dialysis nurses experience many ethical dilemmas facing these patients. The meeting with a patient saying, or otherwise expressing, that they want to end their dialysis treatment was perceived positively, however, could the meaning of the expression sometimes be difficult to interpret. The nurses, often times, felt frustrating to care for a patient who is unable to express themselves about their dialysis treatment. The conclusion was that further research in this area is necessary so that procedures and guidelines can be designed.

Bakgrund: Internationellt humanitärt arbete är ett område där sjuksköterskor är aktiva. Att delta i internationella humanitära insatser innebär emellertid att arbeta i miljöer annorlunda från de normala med andra förutsättningar. Miljön där sjuksköterskan arbetar påverkar också omvårdnaden och det ingår tillika i sjuksköterskans yrkeskunskap att ha kunskap om den miljön där arbetet äger rum. Tidigare forskning visar att sjuksköterskor inte känner sig tillräckligt förberedda inför arbetet i dessa sammanhang. Syfte: Studiens syfte var att undersöka hur sjuksköterskors erfarenheter av miljön i internationella humanitära insatser samt hur upplevelser av arbetet i denna miljö, kommer till uttryck i egna berättelser. Metod: Kvalitativ textanalys, enligt Holme och Solvang, av 18 narrativa artiklar skrivna av sjuksköterskor, eller i enstaka fall intervjuer med sjuksköterskor, som deltagit i internationella humanitära insatser. Resultat: Genom analys av de narrativa artiklarna framkom fyra huvudteman: Bristande resurser, Utsatthet, Emotionella möten, samt Coping. I temat Bristande resurser beskrivs miljön. Miljön präglades av resurssvaghet, något som påverkade sjuksköterskornas arbete. Utsatthet skildrar hur sjuksköterskorna utsattes för risker och faror under uppdragen. Under temat Emotionella möten återfinns sjuksköterskornas beskrivningar av betydelsefulla möten med lokalbefolkningen. Coping berör sjuksköterskornas beskrivningar av strategier för att hantera svårigheter, teamets betydelse samt hur uppdragen upplevdes som givande. Slutsats: Resursbristen i arbetet upplevdes som svår. Arbetet i de internationella uppdragen hade stora variationer. Kreativitet, flexibilitet och förståelse var viktiga för att hantera svårigheter i arbetet under uppdragen. Genom att sätta in resultatet av studien i en klassificeringsmodell av omvårdnadsvetenskapens områden kan internationellt humanitärt arbete konceptualiseras utifrån ett omvårdnadsvetenskapligt perspektiv. Klinisk betydelse: Resultatet från denna studie kan användas för att förbättra utbildningen för sjuksköterskor i internationella humanitära insatser. Background: International humanitarian aid work is a field where nurses are active. Yet, to participate in international humanitarian action is to work in an environment different from what is normal with unlike circumstances. The environment where nurses work also has an effect on the nursing care and it is a part of the nurses’ professional knowledge to have insight of the environment in which the work takes place. Earlier research suggests that nurses feel inadequately prepared for the work in this context. Aim: The aim of the study was to explore in which way nurses’ experiences of the environment in international humanitarian aid work and how experiences of the work in such environment, are expressed in their own narrated texts. Methodology: Qualitative textual analysis, according to the way of Holme and Solvang, of 18 narrated articles written by nurses, or in a few cases interviews with nurses, whom have all participated in international humanitarian aid work. Result: Four main themes emerged from the analysis of the material: Lack of resources, Vulnerability, Emotional meetings, and Coping. The theme Lack of resources describes the environment. The environment was characterized by resource weakness, which affected the nurses' work. Exposure depicts how nurses were exposed to hazards and dangers during the missions. In the theme Emotional meeting the nurses descriptions of meaningful encounters with the locals is to be found. Coping relates to the nurses descriptions of strategies to address difficulties, the importance of the team and how the missions were experienced as meaningful. Conclusions: Lack of resources was perceived as difficult. The work of the international commissions had wide variations. Creativity, flexibility and understanding were important to address difficulties during the missions. By inserting the results of the study in a classification model of nursing science areas, international humanitarian aid work can be conceptualized from a nursing science perspective. Clinical impact: The results of this study can be used to improve education for nurses in international humanitarian aid work.

Syfte: Studiens syfte var att beskriva sjuksköterskors upplevelser av gåronden med fokus påinformation, patientens integritet och delaktighet.Metod: Deskriptiv design med kvalitativ ansats. Åtta omvårdnadsansvariga sjuksköterskor påtvå kirurgavdelningar intervjuades. Datainsamlingen gjordes med semistrukturerade intervjuersom bearbetades med kvalitativ innehållsanalys.Resultat: Information var en stor del av gåronden och kunde både lyfta och sänka gåronden.Patienternas delaktighet och möjlighet till ett eget val beskrevs. Sjuksköterskorna beskrev hurpatienternas integritet kan både bevaras och kränkas under gåroden samt vilka fel somuppkommer.Diskussion: Sjuksköterskorna upplevde att information till patienterna som de förstod var enviktig del av gåronden. Att bevara patienternas integritet under gåronden ansågs varavårdpersonalens uppgift och i många fall enbart sjuksköterskornas. Att patienterna blirdelaktiga under gåronden beskrevs av sjuksköterskorna som både patienternas ochvårdpersonalens ansvar.Slutsats: Samtliga intervjuade sjuksköterskor upplevde att informationen under gåronden varviktigt och att patienten förstod den information som ges. Att patienterna gavs och togmöjligheten till att vara delaktiga var både vårdpersonalens och patientens ansvar.Sjuksköterskorna ansåg det viktigt att arbeta för att skydda patienternas integritet och värnaom privat information Purpose: The purpose of the study was to describe nurses’ experience of the bedside roundfocusing on information, integrity and patients participation.Method: Descriptive design with qualitative approach. Eight nurses in two different surgicaldepartments were interviewed. The data collection was done with semi-structured interviewmethod and analyzed using qualitative content analysis.Findings: Information is a crucial part of the bedside round and could both improve anddegrade it. They describe how patients privacy can both be preserved and impaired during thebedside round, patients participation and opportunity to make a choice.Discussion: The nurses felt that understandable information to the patients was an importantpart of the bedside round. That the patients were involved in the bedside round was describedby nurses as both patients and healthcare staffs’ responsibilities. To preserve patient privacyduring bedside round considered often to be nurses’ task.Conclusion: The nurses felt that information during the bedside round was important and thatthe patient understood the information that was given to them. That patients’ were given andhad the opportunity to be involved were both staffs and the patients’ responsibility. Thenurses felt that it was important to work for the patients' privacy and to protect the patients’private information.
