The new manuscript (named Günbed) of the Book of Dede Korkut was purchased by Veli Muhammed Hoca on December 12, 2018 from a book store in Tehran, Iran. The previous owner of the manuscript has told that he descends from Ağa Muhammed Han, the founder of the dynasty Kaçar whose library kept the book for a long time. However, when the language of the book is examined carefully, it is seen that its language has nothing to do with contemporary Turkmen. Therefore, there must be a mistake with the narrative regarding its relation to Merv. In this article, recently found Günbed manuscript of Dede Korkut has been elaborated and, characteristics and language properties of the new olamanuscript have been addressed. The Günbed manuscript is considered important for these reasons: It contains a new epic story; it is different from other manuscripts of Dede Korkut; various verses indicate that it belongs to a different branch at the roots; this manuscript shows that the narratives and manuscripts of Dede Korkut made its way till 18th century and the language of the book reflects the features of the vernacular of South Azerbaijan, Tabriz. Considering the manuscripts of Vatican and Dresden, one can claim that the Günbed manuscript is mostly different from these two manuscripts but when all Oğuznames are examined together, it is understood that the new manuscript is in harmony with some of the parts of the past manuscripts. The Günbed manuscript isn’t only important for its verses and a new epic story but also in terms of the language. In this respect, it is necessary to elaborate the text with regard to problematic words and phrases. Before three new studies have been published regarding the new manuscript, I wrote that this new manuscript must be from 17 or 18th century, South Azerbaijan by examining the first pictures of the newly found manuscript that appeared on social media. We can say that this manuscript was obviously copied after the year 1759 as its language proves this assertion.
