The COVID-19 pandemic that broke out in China in 2019 influenced the whole World and due to the pandemia all countries has entered a rapid change. This change also affects the purchasing behavior and food consumption habits of the consumers. The purpose of this study is to examine how COVID-19 pandemia effects the consumers' buying behavior of food products in Turkey and to examine the effect of demographic variables. The data obtained from the questionnaires sent online without any city restriction and 231 participants were evaluated in the SPSS program. During the analyses, independent sample t test, one-way analysis of variance and Tukey Multiple Comparison tests were performed and significant differences were found in the statements about food purchases according to the income level of the consumers, gender and marital status. Percentage of customers that prefers online shopping came up lesser than expected. Also, obtained results had shown that participants preferred healthier diet during this period, such as greengrocery to supply vitamins, products containing high fiber, dairy products and fruit juices fortified with vitamins.
