Bu çalışmada Eski Doğu Uygarlıkları bölümünde; Anadolu, Mezopotamya ve Mısır Uygarlıkları'nın, Eski Batı Uygarlıkları Bölümü'nde ise Ege ve Yunan Uygarlıkları ile Roma Uygarlığının tarih düşme anlayışlarına değinilmiştir., An epoch when a historical event occurs is of great importance. An event, the epoch of which can not be located, is impossible to be interpreted accurately as other circumstances also can not be known. Therefore, societies have felt compelled to date events since ancient times. When they date events, humanity uses different methods due to the influence of their different surroundings. Until the invention of calendar, people made use of relative chronology, and with the introduction of calendar, they used absolute chronology. Throughout the history of civilization, when locating historical events, especially ancient events, concurrence of emperors, lists of emperors, local expressions specific to regions, festivals, agricultural practices, religious beliefs, motions of the moon, the sun and stars, and sport activities (Olympics) are quite significant. In this paper, in the section of ancient eastern civilizations dating methods of Anatolian, Mesopotamian, and Egyptian Civilizations and in the section of ancient dating methods of western civilizations Aegean, Greek and Roman Civilizations are treated.
