This paper argues that humor should be taken seriously as it plays a key role in understanding larger issues such as gender relations, social interactions, power, and status in a society. Acknowledging its significance as more than a cultural object, the paper first focuses on the theoretical approaches to humor in anthropology and then constructs a conceptual framework by adding to these theories a new approach that treats the production, sharing and consumption of humor in daily life more effectively. Following this novel theoretical framework, humor interactions among women of a mountainous village of Yeniköy in the city of Muğla are analyzed by positioning them within the context of social and power relations in everyday life. The argument of the analysis is that humor creates a space of agency for the women of Yeniköy who occupy a marginal space in their society and that these women creatively manipulate humor as a tactic for resisting existing power structures. As anthropological studies of humor are increasing in the world, Turkish studies on humor are yet to discover the potential of humor in pointing out important dimensions of everyday life. This study aims to contribute to such studies in Turkey through an analysis of the physicality of humor and the way it resonates through the individual and social body through a long-term participatory observation, and a localized and experience-based investigation. The anecdote is one of entertainment, learning and education tools. It should not be thought that every anecdote would make people laugh. Turks sometimes called the anecdote, which has existed in every society since centuries as joke or wit. Today, the word anecdote, which was adopted from the West, has also been used. An aspect that has not been discussed in anecdote researches done until now was discussed as main subject of this article. Anecdote groups that are assessed as sub-branches in different anecdote classifications were minimized and two branches were determined. These terms/names have not been discussed clearly to date. This opinion is a suggestion and disputable. New anecdotes have been added as well as thousands of anecdotes that have been told from of old. Human, object and subject position of traditional anecdotes have been overcome and a new human type has been a formed and new object that have not existed yesterday. These developments create the modern anecdote. However, some anecdotes, which have been produced lately, have the richness to include both types. While events experienced frequently were forming an anecdote in the past, anecdotes are being romanced, namely produced. Some of this type of anecdotes have been taken from different cultures and adopted into the new environment. Actually, adopting some anecdotes is useful in terms of understanding; however, there are anecdotes that are more appropriate to use authentically as well. It is also possible to tell the anecdotes which base on a specific word / sentence. Furthermore, attracting attention of an anecdote may cause producing similar modern anecdotes. Objective: Suicide is an important problem which has social, cultural and socio-economic aspects. The coping attitudes used for to minimize or eliminate the negative effects of stressor events are universal. When the coping mechanisms among stressful events are ineffective and not problem solving oriented, also unsufficient support of family to child and youth, suicide attitude may pass through from thought to action easily. In this study we asessed coping strategies of children and youths who have suicide attempts. Methods: This study was carried out by 30 child and youths who had suicide attempts and 33 child and youths who had no attempts. The data was collected for the socio-demographic properties of the youth by a form. The scale of Coping Strategies (COPE) and Hamilton Depression Inventory (HAM-D) were performed. The socio-demographic properties of the both groups are identical. Results: In suicide attempt group, coping strategies like positive re-interpretation and evolution, mental disregard, positive social support usage, active overcoming, joking, dealing attitudes are found significantly using less than control group (p<0.05) Positive re-interpretation, active overcoming, joking are overcoming attitudes for the problems. Conclusions: The less usage of those shows that child and adolescent can not deal with the stressful events in their environment. Not using social support network and trying to deal with stress by themself and unsolvably let child and adolescent be drift towards suicide attempts. In depression, anxiety and stress emotional oriented coping strategies are using more then problem solving oriented coping strategies. It is necessary to apply optimistic attitudes education models for increasing problem solving coping mechanisms before adolescence.
