- Abstract
This study aims to reveal how the perception of parenting, which is thought to change according to generations, is expressed by digital natives. To gain insight into this topic, interviews were conducted with 20 digital natives selected using purposive sampling and the ZMET Technique. The data obtained from these interviews was then examined through content analysis in Maxqda 2020 program and a consensus map was created within the framework of a mother and father image collage. According to the findings, mothers are expressed with love, trust and peace; likened to soft objects; identified with pleasant-sounding sounds such as bird sounds; visually explained with promising images such as suns or seas; smelled like flowers or roses; and associated colors included green (peace), white (refreshing), blue (hope). The emphasis on fathers in literature is mostly focused on protective descriptions and hard objects. Fathers are described as loud-voiced, with contrasting tastes, as mighty as a lion, and as lofty as a tree and a mountain. It is also likened to a strong perfume in terms of smell. The most intense emphasis on fathers was made on dark blue and brown. Regarding parents, the concepts of guiding, love, trust, solution, commitment, togetherness and support are emphasized. Parents, who are mentioned with sweet and traditional dishes, are visualized with forest, sun and nature scenery. Reminiscent of nature, food and the smell of home, parents are identified with orange, blue and white. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

In Sūfī literature, there are many terms that include the word “mother/al-umm”. As limited to the subject of “spiritual guidance in Sufism in general and the guidance of the mother in particular” –without diving into other material about the concept of “mother” in Sūfī literature–, this article deals with the following main ideas: In the history of Sufism, there were examplary mothers such as Ibn Khafīf’s mother Umm Muḥammad; Ibn al-ʻArabī’s turābī (biological) mother Nūr, Ibn al-‘Arabī’s divine mother Fāṭima Bintu Ibnu’l-Muthennā and Kenan Rifāī’s mother Hatice Cenân Vâlide Sultân, who were described as “guides” in the literal sense. It is a remarkable detail that of these, Ibn Khafīf’s is known as al-Shayh al-Kabīr and Ibn al-Arabī is known as al-Shayh al-Akbar. That is to say that the leading figures of Sufism were brought up under the surveillance of their mothers. In addition to these mothers, all turābī mothers are the most worthy of the quality of being a guide (Murshid) having a major role in upbringing of her child, which begins before she/he is born. Besides, the mother is very sincere in all of her efforts to educate her child, not having any other intention than desiring happiness for him/her in this world and the hereafter. Thus, the hazards that al-Muḥāsibī warned about (i.e., slackness in respecting the rights of Allah while teaching/guiding others, falling into hypocrisy, and neglect to take his own lower-soul into account) do not pose a problem in mother’s education of her child.

Lorî, cureyeke anonîm a edebîyata kurdî ya gelêrî ye. Dema ku zarok tên şîrdayin, xewandin, aşkirin an jî ji bo girîyê zarokan bê rawestin ji alîyê dayikan ve tên vegotin. Ne tenê dayik, ji alîyê pîrik, dapîr, metik, xwişk, xaltîk, jinbir, jinap û hwd. ve jî tên vegotin. Li deverên kurdan yên ji hev cuda ev cureya edebî weke lorî, lorîn, lorik tê binavkirin. Dikare bê gotin ku, di binavkirina vê cureyê de lihevkirineke civakî heye. Di vê xebatê de pênase û taybetmendîyên lorîyan tê niqaşkirin. Ji nav taybetîyên lorîyan ya herî berbiçav, nedîyarbûna vebêjerê wan ê ewil û xwerûbûna zimanê wan e. Ji ber ku mixatabê esasî yê vê cureyê bebek û zarok in, bi hesta dayiktîyê tên hilberandin û îcrakirin.

- Abstract
It has been determined in studies that the microbiota has an extremely important effect on human health, development, physiology and immunity. In addition, the increasing number of studies on the importance of microbiota development reveals that this issue should be emphasized. It is known that the microbiota of a healthy mother forms the basis of the healthy microbiota in the newborn. For this reason, following up-to-date information on microbiota, making efforts to ensure that the newborn has a healthy microbiota and preventing the negative factors affecting it, and providing support to women for the formation of healthy microbiota from the prenatal period are essential for the formation of healthy generations. For this reason, it is important to determine the newborn microbiota and the factors affecting the microbiota, and to create a compilation resource in the literature on the subject. The aim of this study was to determine the social support levels, mental health status and related factors of women in the postpartum period during the pandemic process. The data of the descriptive study were collected between 12 May and 27 June 2022. The study was conducted with 264 postpartum mothers who gave birth in a university hospital. Data were collected using Personal Information Form, General Health Questionnaire (GHQ-28) and Multidimensional Scale of Perceived Social Support (SDS). The total mean score of the mothers' GHQ-28 questionnaire was 5.70±5.44, and it was determined that 47.3% of them perceived their mental health as risky. There is a statistically significant difference in the GHQ-28 score distributions according to the mothers age, education level, smoking, family and friend relations, desired pregnancy status, and previous psychological problems. In addition, when the factors related to SBL were examined, it was determined that the level of education, financial situation, friend relationship, and previous psychological problems were statistically significant. There is a positive and significant relationship between mothers' mental health status and social support levels. As a result, almost half of the mothers are at risk for their mental health. Some introductory characteristics of mothers affect their general health status and social support levels. According to these findings, it is recommended that more social support be given to mothers with risky mental health conditions by their families and health personnel.

Yarı yapılandırılmış görüşme aracı ile elde edilen veriler betimsel analiz ile analiz edilmiştir. Analiz sonunda annelerin çocukları ile ara sıra geleneksel yöntemle kitap okuduklarını bunun sonunda çocuklarının sadece dinleme becerilerinde gelişme olduğunu belirtmişlerdir. Etkileşimli okumanın, geleneksel okumadan daha eğlenceli olması nedeni ile farklılaştığını söyleyen anneler, etkileşimli okumanın çocuklarının hayal dünyasını geliştirmesi nedeniyle bundan sonraki okumalarında etkileşimli okumayı tercih edeceklerini ifade etmişlerdir. Etkileşimli okumanın kendilerinin empati duygularını, çocuklarının ise bilişsel açıdan dinleme, konuşma, anlama becerilerini; duyuşsal açıdan mutluluk duygusunu geliştirdiğini; sosyal alanda ise arkadaşlık ilişkilerini güçlendirdiğini vurgulamışlardır.

This research is a descriptive study that aims to examine the relationship between the anxiety levels of mothers and the anxiety levels of children. The universe of the study consists of mothers living in Istanbul and children receiving pre-school education. The study group consists of 137 children and their mothers selected by easily accessible sampling method. The "Family Information form" developed by the researcher to collect data in the study; "Situation-Continuous Anxiety Scale" developed by Spielberger to measure the anxiety levels of mothers and adapted to Turkish by Öner and Le Compte (1976); In order to measure the anxiety levels of children, the "Anxiety Scale (Parent Form) in Preschool Children" developed by Spencer et al., (2001) and adapted to Turkish by Şahin (2020) was used. Due to the normal distribution of the data, the independent t-test was used to test the differences between the mean scores and the personal information in the study, and One-Way Anova analysis to test more than two variables. The significance level was considered as 0.05 in the tests. As a result of the findings obtained, a positive relationship was found between the anxiety levels of the mothers and the anxiety levels of the children. In other words, the increasing level of anxiety in mothers is one of the reasons why the child's anxiety also increases. It was concluded that the age of the mother also has an effect on the child's anxiety level. The mean scores of the general anxiety and the separation anxiety in children of mothers at an early age are higher. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Background: Teething is a physiological process that all babies experience. Many local and systemic symptoms are seen in this process. Objective: The study was carried out to determine the problems experienced by babies between 4-36 months during the teething process and the practices of mothers to cope with the problems. Methods: The descriptive and cross-sectional study was conducted between 30 October 2020-10 January 2021 in a Family Health Center in Istanbul. The sample of the study was the mothers of 145 babies registered in this center. The data were collected through the ‘Questionnaire Form’ prepared by the researchers as a result of the literature review. Data analysis was done in SPSS 22.0 program. Results: It was found that the mean eruption time of babies was 7.55 ± 2.24 (min = 4; max = 18) months. It was determined that the first tooth of the babies erupted was the right lower anterior incisor (49.0%), followed by the left lower anterior incisor (32.4%). It was found that most babies (95.9%) had at least one problem during teething and the most common problems were restlessness (76.6%), redness and itching of the gums (64.8%), increased bitting and chewing (55.2%), increased salivation (52.4%), sleeplessness (49.7%) and fever (48.3%). It was found that the most common practices of mothers for these problems were giving food to chew (71.0%), giving teething ring (60.0%), applying dental gel (43.4%), giving pain medication recommended by the physician (35.9%), and massaging the gums (34.5%). Conclusion: Almost all mothers stated that their babies have problems during the teething process. Parents should be informed about the selection of appropriate methods for these problems by the nurses.

Bone marrow transplantation increase the chances of success in the treatment of this diseases and prolongs lifespan of children, it may also cause some systemic complications as well. During this rather difficult process, particularly for children, it is reported that among the family members, it is often the mother who is affected the most. Long-term attentive care creates a great burden for the mother. Moreover, concerns about whether transplantation will be successful or not, recurrence of the disease, loss of child, how life will continue after loss cause uncertainty, resulting in separation anxiety and existential anxiety for the mother. It is reported that mental illnesses such as depression, anxiety disorder and post traumatic stress disorder are common among those mothers whose children underwent bone marrow transplantations. In this process, which is traumatic for both the child and the mother, the role of the consultant liaison psychiatry (CLP) nurse together with the primary treatment team is important. Objective: The first months after birth is a very difficult period for mothers who are trying to get used to their baby. In particular, it can be even more difficult for mothers with frequent crying babies. The aim of this study is to determine the factors that may cause shaking and shaking of babies aged 1-4 months by their mothers. Material and Methods: A total of 180 mothers were included in our descriptive and cross-sectional study. Research data were compiled using the Edinburgh Postpartum Depression Scale, the Fragile Infant Scale, and the mother and infant descriptive characteristics form. Results: When the variables of mothers and babies and the state of being shaken by their mothers were examined, it was seen that none of the variables were effective. In addition, the frequency of swinging during the day was 5.3±3.2, the frequency of rocking to sleep was 5.7±3.8, the frequency of swinging in the car was 2.9±2.8, and the frequency of playing the game of being thrown into the air was 3.4±3.3. Babies with a high frequency of crying shake about 1.5 times more than babies who do not cry. The mothers' mean depression scores were found to be 12.1±7, and the fragile infant perception mean score was 31.9±5.3. In the correlation analysis, no statistically significant relationship was found between mothers' depression scale score and fragile baby perception scale score and shaking their babies. The first three practices preferred by the mothers when their babies started to cry were shaking (66.6%), breastfeeding/feeding (63.8%) and pacifier (23.3%), respectively. It was determined that the first three practices preferred by the mothers when the babies continued to cry were shaking (61.1%), breastfeeding/ feeding (58.3%), and playing the throwing game (53.8%), respectively. Conclusion: The results of our study showed that the babies of the mothers included in the study had a low risk for shaken baby syndrome, especially in this period when abuse against children increased with the restrictions that came to the fore in the coronavirus disease-2019 epidemic. PSYCHOLOGICAL adaptation , *HOSPITAL care of children , *INTENSIVE care units , *PEDIATRIC intensive care , *MEDICAL personnel , *INTENSIVE care patients - Abstract
Objective: This descriptive study was conducted to determine the needs, anxiety levels and coping styles of the mothers of children hospitalized at the intensive care unit. Material and Methods: The sample of the descriptive study consisted of the mothers (n=210) of children hospitalized at the Children Intensive Care Unit of Niğde Training and Research Hospital. Data were collected with the Child and Parent Information Form, Child Intensive Care Family Needs Scale (Family Form), the State-Trait Anxiety Scale, and the Stress Coping Styles Scale by a face-to-face interview with the mothers. Results: The Pediatric Intensive Care Family Needs Scale (Child Intensive Care Family Needs Scale=165.71±34.64) scores of the mothers showed that their needs were high, with the need for proximity and trust the most and that for support the least prominent. The anxiety levels of the mothers were high (state anxiety score= 44.04±6.79; trait anxiety score=50.02±7.66). Seeking social support was the most commonly used approach among the Stress Coping Styles Scale subscales while helplessness was used the least. According to the correlation analysis, a weakly significant positive relationship was present between the mothers’ anxiety scores and support needs and their submissive and helpless approach scores. Conclusion: The results indicate that health care professionals should inform mothers about the course of the disease, the treatment and the interventions and also make arrangements so that the mothers can see at regular intervals that their children are safe. The aim of the current study is to develop Mother Infant Contact Barriers Scale (MICBS) and to investigate its validity and reliabil-ity. The study was conducted with two separete samples consisted of women who give full-term and preterm birth. To conduct explaratory and confirmatory factor analysis, the first sample was composed of 238 women aged between 19 and 43 (M = 30.33, SD = 4.00). The other sample in which second confirmatory factor analysis was conducted consisted of 194 women aged between 18 and 43 (M = 30.12, SD = 4.96). Depression Anxiety Stres Scale (DASS) and Connor-Davidson Resilience Scale (CD-RISC), and Maternal Attachment Inventory (MAI) were used in this study as well as The Mother Infant Contact Barriers Scale (MICBS). In the exploratory factor analysis, four factors were obtained, namely “Postpartum Physical Contact Barriers”, “Mother-Infant Relation-ship and Harmony Difficulties”, “Negative Experiences Regarding Birth” and “Positive Emotions Regarding Postpartum First Contact”. The results of the confirmatory factor analysis demonstrated that the obtained model fit indices were within acceptable limits and the validity and reliability values of the scale were sufficient. It has been shown that MICBS is a scale with satisfactory psychometric properties that could be used in maternal and infant health research conducted in Turkey.
