Üç ayrı makaleden oluşan bu doktora tezinde, Türkiye’de işveren ve kendi hesabına çalışan olma eğilimini belirleyen etkenler ve bu durumlar ile diğer işgücü durumları arasındaki geçiş eğilimleri incelenmiştir. Analizlerde Türkiye İstatistik Kurumu tarafından üretilen Gelir ve Yaşam Koşulları Araştırması’nın 2006-2018 panel ve kesit veri setleri havuzlanarak kullanılmıştır. Panel verilerden yararlanılan ilk makalede, kadın ve erkeklerin girişimci, işveren ve kendi hesabına çalışan olma olasılıklarının mikroekonomik belirleyicileri ücretliler ve ücretsiz aile işçileri ile karşılaştırmalı olarak bireylerin gözlenemeyen girişimcilik eğilimlerinin hesaba katıldığı çok düzeyli genelleştirilmiş bir yaklaşım ile logit yöntemiyle incelenmiştir. Bulgular Türkiye’de girişimcilik eğiliminin cinsiyet, yaş, aile içinde yüklenilen roller ve önemli derecede öz sermaye varlığı ile ilişkili olduğuna işaret etmektedir. Kesit verilerin analiz edildiği ikinci makalede, işverenlik ve kendi hesabına çalışma eğilimlerinde bölge ve cinsiyet farklılıklarına yoğunlaşılmış ve bu farklılıkların ortaya çıkmasına etki eden faktörler araştırılmıştır. Çalışmanın bulguları Türkiye’de girişimcilik eğiliminde önemli boyutta cinsiyet eşitsizliği olduğunu, kadınların girişimcilik eğilimlerinin toplumsal rollerle ilgili değişkenlerden etkilendiğini ve bölgeler arasındaki farklılıkların bir ölçüde bölgelerin gelişmişlik düzeyine bağlı olduğunu göstermiştir. Üçüncü makalede özellikle işverenlik ve kendi hesabına çalışmayı içeren geçişlere odaklanılarak panel veri setlerinden Markov yöntemi ile elde edilen bireylerin farklı istihdam durumları, işsizlik ve işgücü dışı arasındaki geçiş olasılıkları incelenmiş ve geçiş olasılıklarının mikroekonomik belirleyicileri çoklu tercih logit modelleriyle araştırılmıştır. Bu bölümün bulguları işverenlik ve kendi hesabına çalışmaya geçişlerin farklı bireysel güdülerden kaynaklandığını göstererek Türkiye’de kendi hesabına çalışma açısından gelişmekte olan ülkelerdekine benzer dualistik bir işgücü piyasasına işaret etmektedir., This dissertation consists of three essays investigating the factors that determine the probability of being an employer or a self-employed in Turkey and transition possibilities between these particular labour market states and others. From the results of Survey of Income and Living Conditions undertaken by Turkish Statistical Institute, pooled panel and cross-section microdata sets that span the period 2006-2018 are utilized. The first essay which uses pooled panel data, analyses the microeconomic determinants of the probability of being an entrepreneur, employer and self-employed in comparison with employees and unpaid family workers with logit method in a generalized multi-level framework enabling us to take the unobserved entrepreneurial tendencies of individuals into account. The findings suggest that entrepreneurial propensity is related to sex, age, roles within the family and with a considerable extent to own capital. The second essay focuses on regional disparities and gender inequality in the propensity to be an employer or a self-employed, and analyses the factors affecting these differences. The findings of this section signal a significant entrepreneurial gender gap in Turkey where entrepreneurship probabilities of women are affected by variables regarding societal roles and the regional disparities that stem from their level of development to some extent. The third essay studies the Markov transition probabilities between different employment states, unemployment and being out of the labour force, focusing on transitions including employers and self-employed, as well as the microeconomic determinants of the aforementioned transition probabilities with multinomial logit models. The findings of this chapter show that transitions into self-employment and employership derive from different personal motives, and thus, point out to a dualistic labour market regarding self-employment that is similar to developing countries.

YÖK ID: 659780 Ülkemizde borçlanma araçları piyasası uzun süre gelişim gösterememiş ve bu piyasalarda kamu kesimi ağırlığını devamlı korumuştur. Dışlama etkisiyle piyasalarda özel sektör fon bulamamış ve uzun süre ya borçlanma aracı ihraç edememiş ya da çok düşük miktarlarda ihraç edebilmiştir. Fakat 2006 yılından itibaren ihraçlar tekrar özel sektör tahvili ile başlamış, diğer borçlanma araçlarının ihracı da özel sektör tarafından takip eden yıllarda devam etmiştir. Çalışmada borçlanma araçları piyasasında işlem gören araçların seçiminde hangi bağımsız değişkenin etkili olduğu araştırılmıştır. Veri seti olarak borçlanma piyasasında işlem gören ve itfa tarihi henüz dolmamış olan 303 borçlanma aracı kullanılmıştır. Multinomial logit ve multinomial probit modellerle elde edilen sonuçlar ortaya konulmuştur. Göreceli risk oranı hesaplaması yapılırken devlet tahvili temel seçim senaryosu olarak belirlenmiştir. Yatırımcıların bunun yerine hazine bonosunu seçmesinde temiz fiyat kriterinin etkili olduğu belirlenmiştir. Özel sektör tahvilinde kapanış, hacim, basit ağırlıklı ortalama kriterleri etkili olmuştur. Finansman bonosunda temiz fiyat, hacim ve birikimli hacim etkili olmuştur. Kapanış fiyatları açısından değerler incelendiğinde finansman bonosu ve hazine bonosunun tercih edilmesinde risk çok fazladır. Marjinal etkilere bakıldığında, temiz fiyata göre devlet ve özel sektör tahvillerini tercih ettiği görülmüştür. Kapanış fiyatına göre ise hazine ve finansman bonosu tercih edildiği ve finansman bonosunun daha fazla tercih edildiği bulunmuştur. Hacim olarak devlet tahvili ve hazine bonosu öne çıkmaktadır. Birikimli hacimde finansman bonosu dışındaki tüm araçlar tercih edilmektedir. Nominal değerde yalnızca finansman bonosu tercih edilmektedir. Basit ağırlıklı ortalamada devlet tahvili ve finansman bonosu tercih edilmektedir. Böylece iki model üzerinden yatırımcıların hangi aracı hangi kritere göre tercih ettiği ortaya konulmuştur. The debt securities market in our country has not developed for a long time and the public sector has maintained its dominance in these markets. Due to the crowding – out effect, the private sector could not find funds the markets and either could not issue debt instruments or was able to issue very small amounts for a long time. However, since 2006, issues started again with private sector bonds, and the issuance of other debt instruments continued by the private sector in the following years. In this study, it has been investigated which independent variable is effective in the selection of instruments traded in the debt instruments market. 303 borrowing instruments, which are traded in the borrowing market and whose amortization date has not yet expired, have been used as the data set. The results obtained with multinomial logit and multinomial probit models are presented. While calculating the relative risk ratio, government bonds are determined as the basic selection scenario. Clean price criteria is determined to be effective on investors choosing the treasury bills instead of government bonds. The closing price, volume and simple weighted average criteria are effective in private sector bonds. Clean price, volume and cumulative volume are effective in financing bills. When the values are analyzed in terms of closing prices, the risk is very high in choosing financing bills and treasury bills. Looking at the marginal effects, it is seen that it prefers government and private sector bonds by the clean price. According to the closing price, it is found that treasury and financing bonds are preferred and financing bonds are preferred more. Government bonds and treasury bills stand out by volume. For cumulative volume, all instruments except financing bills are preferred. At nominal value, only financing bills are preferred. On simple weighted average, government bonds and financing bonds are preferred. Thus, over these two models, it has been revealed that which instruments investors prefer based on which criteria.

This study determines the customer churn among the product groups and packages; specifies the major factors that cause the churn and also makes some suggestions by analysing a telecommunication firm's data. Discrete choice modelling (multinomial or conditional logit) which has not been used in the previous studies in this area is applied as a modelling technique. In the modelling phase, package features, demographic characteristic and usage information of customers are chosen as variables. As a result, significant demographic characteristics such as income level, household number, dwell type and monthly call duration, and their relative effects are determined. Also, package fee is observed as the most descriptive package feature in the model. By using these variables, package selection probabilities are determined, and suggestions are made for the company and the telecommunication sector.

DergiPark: 326355 trakyasobed The objective of this study is to determine factors influencing political preferences of voters in Thrace and İstanbul. Therefore, the voters’ preferences survey has been conducted with 2357 voters in the region randomly selected and evaluated. The informative factors influencing political preferences collected in these surveys have been determined by the multinomial logit model. A lot of independent variables have been used in this model, but, because some independent variables were not found as significant according to likelihood ratio test, these variables are not included in the analysis. Nine important factors influencing political preferences of voters have been determined. These factors are newspaper reading habit, foreign language, civil society organization membership, art preferences, sport habits, gender, age, birthplace and social security of voters. Whether the political preferences are independent, has been tested with testing independence of irrelevant alternatives of Hausman. According to this test, it has been found that the political preferences are independent Bu araştırmanın amacı, farklı sosyoekonomik grupları olan ve kalabalık bir nüfusu barındıran Trakya ve İstanbul ilindeki seçmenlerin, siyasi tercihlerini etkileyen faktörleri belirlemektir. Bu nedenle, seçmen tercihleri anketi, bölgede rassal olarak seçilmiş toplam 2357 seçmenle yapılmış ve değerlendirmeye alınmıştır. Bu anketlerden elde edilmiş siyasi tercihleri etkileyen bilgi verici faktörler, multinominal logit model ile belirlenmiştir. Bu modelde birçok bağımsız değişken kullanılmış ancak, bazı bağımsız değişkenler LR testine göre anlamlı bulunmadığından dolayı analize dahil edilmemiştir. Siyasi tercihleri etkileyen 9 önemli faktör tespit edilmiştir. Bu faktörler, seçmenlerin gazete okuma alışkanlıkları, yabancı dil durumları, sivil toplum kuruluşlarına üyelik durumları, ilgi duydukları sanat dalı, düzenli spor durumları, cinsiyetleri, yaşları, doğum yerleri ve sosyal sigorta durumlarıdır. Siyasi tercihlerin bağımsız olup olmadığı ise Hausman’nın ilişkisiz alternatiflerin bağımsızlık testi ile test edilmiştir. Bu teste göre, siyasi tercihlerin bağımsız olduğu bulunmuştur
