The main purpose of this study was to determine effects of glutamine supplementation on performance and blood parameters including Hsp70 and acute phase protein when chicken were subjected to transportation stress. A total of four hundred day-old-male cobb-500 chicks were obtained directly from a local hatchery. The chicks were allotted to two groups as: immediate placement (1 hour after hatching) with access to feed and water and placement after 24h transportation without access to feed and water. The experiment consisted of a factorial arrangement of 2 different diets and 2 different time of placement. Chicks from each placement group were fed either basal diet or basal diet + 1% glutamine from 1 to 21 days of age. The results indicated that dietary glutamine improved the body weight gain and feed conversion ratio significantly when chicks were subjected to delayed or immediate placement. In conclusion, supplementing chicken with glutamine in diet can reduce negative effects of delayed access to feed and water during transportation. Moreover, APP concentration and HSP70 level were positively affected when chicks supplemented with glutamine in the diet.

The purpose of this study was to investigate effects of coconut milk supplementation on corticosterone and acute phase protein level under high stocking density. A total 300 Cobb 500 male chicks were placed in cages and stocked as 10 birds/cage (normal stocking density) and 15 birds/cage (high stocking density). The treatments were as (i) control diet and stocked at 10 and 15 birds/cage (ii) control diet + 3% coconut milk from 1-42 day and stocked at 10 and 15 birds/cage (iii) control diet + 5% coconut milk from 1-42 day and stocked at 10 and 15 birds/cage. On day 42, 20 birds per treatment were slaughtered to collect blood samples. The results showed higher level of corticosterone and acute phase protein level in control diet compare to other supplemented diets with coconut milk. In conclusion, coconut milk decreased the level of corticosterone and acute phase protein when chicks were subjected to high stocking density.

Therefore, studies are undertaken on diagnosis, treatment and pathogenesis of panleukopenia infection in. Hence, this study was aimed to determine serum concentrations of PTX-3 in cats infected with feline parvovirus and additionally, it is aimed to contribute to the elucidation of the pathogenesis of the disease by investigating the relationship between hematological and biochemical parameters and PTX-3.. This study included 12 cats of different breed and genders with complaints of weakness, stagnation, loss of appetite, diarrhea, and vomiting tested positive for FPV at the Private Aksaray Veterinary Clinic and Teaching Hospital of Veterinary Faculty, Aksaray University and 7 cats that were considered healthy. FPV positive cats were blood sampled before the beginning of the treatment as well as healthy cats. Complete haemothological and blood biochemistry parameters, including TAS, TOS, OSI, SAA, CRP, PTX-3 concentrations were determined, and the relationship between PTX-3 and evaluated was statistically determined. The results revaled that the ill cats had a significant panleukopenia compared to healthy subjects, serum PTX-3 (58.69 pg/mL), SAA (59.91 µg/mL), TOS (14.35 µmol H2O2 Eq/L) and OSi (1.17 arbitrary unit) values were also found to be significantly high in diseased cats. It was determined that there was a correlation between serum PTX-3 level and oxidative damage in cats infected with FPV. In conclusion, the plasma level of PTX-3 was determined for the first time in naturally infected cats with FPV, and the serum PTX-3 level was elevated in these subjects. However, it was concluded that more comprehensive studies are needed to determine its role in disease prognosis.
