ETHNOLOGY , *PHOTOGRAPHY , *MEMORY - Abstract
In this research, I examine the methodological and theoretical contributions of using multiple techniques together in urban ethnography, focusing on the background of the field studies I conducted between 2013-2023. I investigate the contribution of walking to understanding the urban social life through the field notes I took during my urban researches. I focus on the (auto)ethnographic researches I conducted in Istanbul, Izmir and Sapanca, and the effects of the techniques I used while expanding the possibilities of urban ethnography. While analyzing the daily life of the metropolitan city, I discuss mobility as a pedestrian in the city, its class and gender. The development of technologies also makes it possible to keep track of the natural structure that has disappeared in the areas that have begun to urbanize. Mobile technologies, increasingly used in the field, greatly contribute to urban memory and collecting city stories. However, different issues come into play when operating multiple techniques in the field. I am trying to develop suggestions on how the methods can be multiplied without interfering with the relationships in the field and the daily life of the researched. I explore the possibilities of employing participatory methods and transforming ethnography into a tool for social justice through the utilization of multiple techniques in urban ethnography, specifically for marginalized groups. ACTIVITIES of daily living , *HEALTH surveys , *LEG , *TYPE 2 diabetes , *POLYNEUROPATHIES , *MUSCLE strength , *WALKING , *QUESTIONNAIRES , *LONGITUDINAL method - Abstract
Background: The aim of this study was to evaluate the lower extremity muscle strength of type 2 Diabetes mellitus (DM) patients with and without polyneuropathy (PNP) using isokinetic methods and to determine the effect of possible losses of muscle strength on patients' daily lives and quality of life. Materials and Methods: 60 patients with type 2 DM patients and 30 healthy individuals aged 40-70 years were included in this prospective controlled study. Of the 30 DM patients with PNP were defined as Group 1, 30 DM patients without PNP as Group 2 and 30 healthy individuals were defined as Group 3. Short Form-36 (SF 36) was used to evaluate the quality of life for all participants. Stair climb test (SCT) and timed up and go test (TUG) were performed for functional evaluation. The muscle strength of all participants was measured with the aid of a Biodex isokinetic device. Results: SF-36 parameters measuring quality of life and muscle strength were significantly lower in DM patients compared to the control group. Also, TUG and SCT tests of patients with DM were significantly longer than the control group. There was no significant difference between DM groups with and without PNP in terms of muscle strength, SF-36 parameters, TUG and SCT tests. Conclusions: This study showed that DM affects the quality of life of patients by causing a decrease in muscle strength independent from the presence of polyneuropathy. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

POSTMENOPAUSE , *SLEEPWALKING , *CONTROL groups , *HORMONE therapy , *SLEEP hygiene - Abstract
Purpose: The aim of this study was to determine the effect of regular walking program on sleep quality in postmenopausal women. Materials and Methods: The study has semiexperimental design with pretest-posttest control group. The sample consisted of 66 women (33 training, 33 controls) who were at least literate, who went through menopause by natural means, did not exceed 65 years of age, did not receive hormone replacement therapy, did not have any chronic disease. The data were collected with Pittsburgh Sleep Quality Index (PSQI) and Introductory Information Form. The women in the training group were asked to take regular and paced walking for at least 30 minutes three days a week for six weeks, and they were followed up by telephone. No attempt was made to women in the control group. Results: There was no statistically significant difference between pretest sleep quality and PSQI mean scores of women in the training and control groups. In the last test after six weeks of regular and paced walking application, it was found that the good sleep quality of the training group increased from 6.1% to 39.4%. On the other hand, control group it was found that the rate of good sleep quality, which was 15.2% in the pretest, decreased to 12.1% after 6 weeks. The difference between training and control groups pretest-posttest sleep quality was found to be statistically significant. Conclusion: It has been shown that regular and paced walking for 6 weeks increases the sleep quality of postmenopausal women. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

BONE fractures , *MEDICAL records , *RISK assessment , *SPINA bifida , *WALKING , *RETROSPECTIVE studies , *DISEASE complications , *DISEASE risk factors - Abstract
Objective: The aim of this study is to investigate the frequency of fractures and related factors in children with spina bifida who were followed up in our hospital. Materials and Methods: By retrospectively examination of the medical records of 450 patients with spina bifida, who were followed up by our clinic between 2000 and 2018, the patients were evaluated in terms of factors such as frequency of fracture, age of the first fracture, lesion level, ambulation capacity, physical therapy initiation age, fracture site and mechanism. Results: In the 450 patients examined, the fracture rate was 5.7%. While there was a relationship between low ambulatory capacity and high-level lesions and fracture risk, the early initiation of physical therapy did not protect against fracture. Conclusion: According to these data, fractures are more common in patients with spina bifida. It was concluded that the quality of mobilisation, not the duration, was the more important risk factor for fracture. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Bu bağlamda çalışmada yürümenin düşünme üzerindeki etkisi, filozof ve bilim insanlarının çıkmış oldukları düşünsel yolculuklar üzerinden ortaya konulmaya çalışılacaktır., As an essential factor in human beings' linguistic and intellectual development, walking is a movement of displacement both physically and intellectually. It is possible to observe that the academic journey of many philosophers in the history of philosophy also depends on a walking habit. Walking has an essential place in obtaining scientific knowledge in the lives of many scientists who shape modern science. Therefore, it can be claimed that walking in the history of both philosophy and science has an essential function in developing ideas. Experimental studies on the effect of walking on thinking and mental development in modern science also support this claim. Based on these studies, although a direct cause and effect relationship cannot be established between walking and thinking, it can be said that there are structural similarities. To think is to travel with concepts. However, one needs experiences and journeys that will enable him to acquire concepts that will take him on a journey. Where (in nature, in the city) and how (by walking or using various means of transportation) people go on this journey have a decisive role in shaping the relationship they will establish with their environment. Although the places where people live and the means of transportation have changed over time, walking has continued to be a part of human life as the purest human action. In this context, the effect of walking on thinking will be tried to be revealed through the intellectual journeys of philosophers and scientists.

The aim of this study was to determine the factors affecting participation in activities of daily living in individuals with stroke. In the study, the relationship between the levels of participation in daily living activities of individuals with stroke and demographic data, clinical features, spasticity, functional level, balance, gait, cognitive status, fatigue, depression and upper extremity functionality were examined. It was investigated whether spasticity, cognitive status, functional level and upper extremity functionality affected participation in individuals with stroke.Forty-nine stroke individuals between the ages of 18 and 80 years participated in the study. In the evaluation of individuals, Modified Ashworth Scale (MAS) for spasticity, Modified Rankin Scale (mRS) for functional level, Berg Balance Scale (BBS) for balance, Timed Up and Go (TUG) for gait, Montreal Cognitive Assessment (MoCA) for cognitive status, Fatigue Severity Scale (FSS) for fatigue, Hospital Anxiety and Depression Scale (HAD) for depression, Nine Hole Peg Test (NHPT) and Dexterity Questionnaire-24 (DextQ-24) for upper extremity and Stroke Impact Scale (SIS) for participation were used. While there was a significant relationship between assistive devices, balance, gait, fatigue, depression, upper extremity functionality, cognitive status with participation (p < 0.05), no significant correlation was found between BMI and disease duration with participation (p > 0.05). It was determined that upper extremity skills predicted 71 % of individuals’ social participation levels and 64 % of functional status. It was determined that NHPT for the dominant extremity estimated 8 % of the individuals’ social participation levels, and 27 % for the non-dominant extremity. It was determined that muscle tone for the upper and lower extremities affected participation. Stroke individuals experience limitations in participation in activities of daily living, and restrictions change in the period following stroke. Upper extremity problems, functional status and cognitive level are important determinants of participation in activities of daily living.

Objective: The effect of tracking the recommended dose of physical activity with pedometer on body composition was investigated. Methods: Participants were randomly assigned to control, walking (PAC) and pedometer (PAC-PED) groups, and moderate- to high-intensity physical activity was prescribed. The participants performed the recommended exercises in PAC group by taking notes on follow-up cards, in PAC-PED group by pedometer, and in control group without a follow-up. Results: A total of 50 participants, 23 in the control group, 11 in the PAC group and 16 in the PAC-PED group, were completed. The average age of all participants was 47.1 ± 12.8 (25 - 81), the proportion of women and men was 74% and 26%, respectively. The mean body mass index of the participants was 29.7 ± 5.5 kg / m2 and body fat ratio was 33.8 ± 8.5. Participants were followed up for an average of 2.0 ± 1.2 [0.5 - 6.3] months. There was a significant decrease in body weight in all groups. Body fat percentage did not change in the control group, but significantly decreased in the PAC and PAC-PED groups. Conclusion: While individual follow-up by card in patients with moderate- to high-intensity physical activity reduces body fat ratio, individual follow-up by pedometer reduces body fat ratio even more. Body fat ratio does not change when individual follow-up is not performed. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Sandfly fever, also known as 'three-day fever' or 'pappataci fever' or 'Phlebotomus fever' is a viral infection that causes self-limited influenza-like symptoms and characterized by a rapid onset. The disease occurs commonly in endemic areas in summer months and especially in August during which sandflies are active. In this article, two siblings who presented with high fever, redness in the eyes, headache, weakness, malaise and inability to walk, who were found to have increased liver function tests and creatine kinase levels and who were diagnosed with sadfly fever with positive sadfly IgM and IgG antibodies are reported because of the rarity of this disease. Walking as a form of mobility is discussed mostly in social theory with regard to urbanization and modernity. As Urry (2000, 2007) argues, walking is closely related to governmentality and has shown alterations historically in terms of gender and social classes in public space. Hence, this differentiation has also reflections in the literature. Therefore, this paper will evaluate how this differentiation occurs in urban space. Walking sociologically as a technique is used by first theorists (Simmel, Engels and Benjamin) studying urban space. Walking has been evaluated in social theory in different urban realms: from as an element contributing to city's democratication to aesthetic and critical practice in Surrealism; and a resistance to capitalist and modernist urban planning of Situationists. Thus, it is reminded in this paper that walking is more than a mundane mobility feature but an important practical performance and research technique in exploring and reconsidering city critically. Objective: In this study, our aim was to investigate the development of the lower extremity by using anthropometric measurements in the children with hemiplegic cerebral palsy (HCP). Material and Method: In our study, lower extremities of 32 children with HCP in the age group 5-12 years and 40 normal children in the same age group were measured anthropometrically. Results: Most of the values for the circumference, length and width of the plegic side of the lower extremity of the children with HCP were significantly lower than those of the unaffected side of the lower extremity of the children with HCP. Nevertheless, all of the values for the circumference, length and width of both the unaffected and the plegic sides of the lower extremity of the children with HCP were significantly lower than those of the lower extremity of the normal children. Conclusion: When compared with normal children, retardation of muscle and bone development due to functional limitation was seen in the lower extremity of children with HCP both on the plegic side and unaffected side. Performing an exercise program of the unaffected side as well as rehabilitation of the plegic side may shorten the process of gaining the ability of walking. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

WHEAT , *PASTURES , *GRAZING , *LACTATION , *GOAT behavior , *GOAT milk yield , *GOATS - Abstract
Pasture use and management are of importance to ensure the sustainability of pastures and to meet the need for food which increases in the spring in dairy goat husbandry. Some behavioral and performance traits of goats in the types of pasture with different grazing intensities were determined in this study. For this purpose, totally 24 Turkish Saanen goats were followed in 6 pasture plots consisting of natural and wheat pastures of 3 different sizes for 3 months. In the natural pasture where the rates of species of Poaceae, legumes and other families were 67%, 4% and 29%, respectively, the grass yield had values close to those of the wheat pasture in the period corresponding to early April, while it decreased as time passed. It was determined that all of the behavioral traits under consideration varied by type of pasture, plot size, date of observation, and observation period (P≤0.039). The goats in the wheat pasture group displayed 31% fewer grazing behaviors, 50% fewer walking behaviors and 20% fewer lying behaviors than the goats in the natural pasture plots, whereas they displayed 73% more ruminating behaviors and 49% more standing behaviors (P≤0.0001). The behavioral traits significantly varied by plot size, while it was determined that the variation did not display any linear tendency (P=0.0480). The levels of live body weight and milk yield were higher among the goats in the wheat pasture throughout the experiment. It is thought that the wheat pasture is a convenient pasture for the lactating goats which provide the required food by grazing and walking for a shorter period and that it might be useful to reduce the pressure on the natural pasture undergoing the early sprouting period. On the other hand, it turned out that the natural pasture was inadequate for the lactating goats and that natural pasture grazing management should be formed with detailed studies. Objective: To explore the effects of 12-week supervised exercise program (SEP) on quality of life (QoL), walking abilities, balance impairment and fatigue in patients with multiple sclerosis (MS) and to compare these outcomes according to the severity of the disability. Methods: Demographic characteristics and medical history of a total of 24 MS patients were recorded. Disability [The Expanded Disability Status Scale (EDSS)],functional balance [The Berg Balance Scale (BBS)], balance confidence [The Activities-pecific Balance Confidence (ABC)_Scale], walking difficulties [The 12-Item Multiple Sclerosis Walking Scale (MSWS-12)], fatigue [The Fatigue Impact Scale (FIS)], QoL [The MS International Quality of Life (MUSIQOL)] were evaluated before, at the end of the treatment (3rd month) and at the 6th month. Additionally, the effectiveness rate of the physiotherapy was calculated according to the disability and disease duration. Results: The outcome results of the 17 participants with a mean age of 45.2±8.6 years(seven patients were excluded because of acute attacks) showed that the differences between the mean scores of MSWS-12, BBS and ABC_Scale were resulted from the2nd assessment (p<0.001), and this differences remained at the follow-up measurements (p<0.001, p=0.003, p=0.001, respectively). The differences between the MUSIQOL scores were resulted from the 3rd assessment at the follow-up (p=0.014).There were statistically significant and positive correlation between the scores of MUSIQOL significantly positively correlated with scores of FIS-total and subgroups, in addition, MSWS-12 significantly positively correlated with MUSIQOL, BBS, ABC_Scale,FIS-total and subgroups, and EDSS scores (p<0.05).Conclusion: 12-week SEP was resulted in similar improvements in QoL and walking abilities in both patients with low and severe disabilities. Additionally, these findings strongly suggest that treatment for walking abilities may also extend to improvements in QoL. Therefore, the rehabilitation team should consider the benefits of regular exercise and should focus and encourage people with MS to participate in exercise independent from the disease severity. URBAN planning , *ARCHITECTURAL designs , *PUBLIC spaces , *SPACE (Architecture) , *EXTRAVEHICULAR activity (Human space flight) , *SOCIAL context , *SUSTAINABLE architecture - Abstract
With advancing communication technologies, the interaction of people and the environment they live in has taken on a new direction. Today, architecture, planning, designing and urban planning disciplines are all questioning the interactions of people with their surroundings and trying to come up with new approaches. These disciplines mutually develop more interconnected relations and their topics and items of interest are constantly positioned on more unstable grounds. Public spaces, which people position and realize themselves in, constitute the base of this study. In the spatial structure of our environment, the roads, alleys, streets, squares and court-yards that make up public spaces are important "representation" locations. Among these, streets are especially significant living environments because they are considered as "movement channels" and "socializing centers." For centuries, the "walking" process, whereby people experience being a resident of the city, has been of crucial importance as the most basic and simple means of transport. It can easily be stated that walking is the most direct and prejudice-free activity for people to position and realize themselves. In cities, urban spaces can be considered "successful" to the extent that they provide people the ability to walk and experience human-environment and human-human interaction. What is meant with "success" is the facilitation of a social environment. Public environments can achieve social and perceptive meaning according to how much they support walking. As an action enabling people to perceive their environment in relation to their walking speed and point of view, walking can be performed for various reasons and motives. People can walk in order to satisfy daily needs, health issues or social requirements. The urban spaces appealing to the different walking needs of people generally become centers of attraction and socializing. Thus, public spaces can be considered successful in accordance with their walkability. Walkability is the extent to which the built environment supports and encourages walking by providing for pedestrian comfort and safety, connecting people with varied destinations within a reasonable amount of time and effort, and offering visual interest in journeys throughout the network. Even though the concept of walkability didn't gain validity in our literature, in the present situation of our cities significant importance should be given to walkable urban environments. It is observed that new housing areas are disconnected from the city center so they have a lack of socializing by walking. A conceptual model is suggested in this study to question the walkability of urban public spaces. Studies have shown that individual, group, regional, and spatial environmental variables may all affect the decision of walking. Currently, however, it is not clearly understood which of these factors are most salient, nor is it clear how or whether these factors interact in affecting a person's level of physical activity. Many factors are believed to influence a per-son's level of physical activity, but in the model suggested, the perception of human being is influenced by four main factors. The conceptual model outlined here posits that individual, group, regional, and spatial environmental variables affect an individual's choice to walk at different points in his or her decision-making process and that some factors are more prominent in the decision-making process than others. Spatial environmental characteristics, being the main center point of this study, are examined in more detail. The decision process of walking is mainly shaped by the affordance of urban spaces' spatial environmental characteristics. These characteristics have been identified and suggested as walking needs in a hierarchy: Feasibility, Safety, Accessibility, Usefulness, Physical Comfort and Social Environment/Sociability. The Human-Environment-Behavioral Studies approach that this study is based on has been selected because of convenience for interdisciplinary questioning and studies. In this context, psychology, sociology, health, philosophy, engineering and social anthropology are all used as needed, in order to benefit from what they have to contribute. The environment that people live in and their thorough examination of the relationship they build with that environment, may be leading while developing new designs for the future. The theoretical model and the conceptual framework of this research are user-focused. The parameters that effect users' decisions to walk in urban spaces are determined with the conceptual framework drawn in this study. These parameters can be used when designing new urban spaces or when redesigning urban spaces in order to make them sustainable. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Objective: Our purpose was to investigate the relationship between location and intensity of pain and activity in hospital workers. Methods: The localization and intensity of pain that felt during the last 24 hours the relationship between forced to leave the activity (general activity, mood, walking ability, normal work, relations with other people, sleep, enjoyment of life) was examined by using Brief Pain Invertory-Short Form in 351 adults. Spearman correlation test was used in statistical analysis. Results: 351 patients who have pain during the last 24 hours, 101 patients had low back, 75 of whom had neck, 72 patients had thoracic, 56 patients had lower extremity, 47 patients had upper extremity pain. These pains were highly correlated with activity ( p=0.01). Pain in the upper and lower extremity were higher than spine pain at the worst pain and average pain assessments. Conclusion: It has been reported that in adults, despite the more common pain was seen in the spine the intensity of pain was seen more in the extremities. These results may be associated with because of greater use of extremities in participation of activities lead to limitations. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

MULTIPLE sclerosis , *FATIGUE (Physiology) , *WALKING , *SPASTICITY , *STATISTICAL correlation , *CONTROL groups , *PATIENTS - Abstract
Objective: This study aimed first to identify the range of the Expanded Disability Status Scale (EDSS) score by comparing the actual walking distance and the estimated walking distance of multiple sclerosis (MS) patients, and second, to investigate the effect of fatigue on walking distance. Patients and Methods: Thirty MS patients and 20 age -and gender- matched healthy volunteers were included in the study. MS patients were divided into two groups according to the EDSS score. Fatigue was measured using the Fatigue Severity Scale (FSS) and motor fatigue was measured using the 200 meter walking test. The increase in muscle tone was evaluated by Modified Ashworth Scale. The first group of MS patients and healthy control group patients were asked to estimate the distance they can walk without rest within six minutes. Then, their actual walking distance was measured for six minutes. The second group of MS patients was asked to estimate their most probable walking distance without rest; then, the actual walking distance of the patients was measured. Results: In terms of FSS values, fatigue severity was different in the two MS groups (p< 0.05). The fatigue severity of the second MS group was higher than of the first group. Walking fatigue index values were also different (p< 0.05), and the higher value was seen in the second MS group. The second group of MS patients had significantly higher spasticity for both muscles compared to the first group (p< 0.05). While estimated and actual walking distance was not found significantly different in the first MS group and control group (p> 0.05), the second MS group's estimated and actual walking distances were significantly different (p< 0.05). A negative correlation was found between FSS scores and estimated walking distance in the second MS group (p< 0.05). A negative correlation was present between motor fatigue and actual walking distance only in the second MS group (p< 0.05). Conclusion: EDSS evaluation is more reliable in patients with low level disability. The accuracy issues arise in patients with EDSS scores of 4-5. Additionally, there is an important correlation between motor fatigue and walking distance in these patients. For motor fatigue, spasticity is an important determinant. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

The aim of this study was to assess dual task and functional capacity of subjects with type 2 diabetes and compare with healthy subjects. Eleven healthy subjects, 11 T2DM subjects with neuropathy and 11 T2DM subjects without neuropathy, with a mean age of 55,09 ±7,08 were included to the study. For the assessment of functional capacity, sit and stand test, six minute walking test and timed up and go tests were used. Anahtar Kelimeler: Adım uzunluğu, boy tahmini, yürüyüş hızı INTRODUCTION: Reliable identification is without doubt of importance in forensic cases. Several studies have been cited in the literature on the identification of the victims. However studies on the identification of the offender are limited. Foot prints available in the crime scene by the offender could be evaluated for identification if there is not any other evidence. The aim of the present study is to estimate stature from step length depending on the distance between foot prints. MATERIAL AND METHOD: The study is conducted on 104 male and 102 female a total of 206 individuals. All the participants were either the students of Başkent University or the staff working for Başkent University. The participants with cardiopulmonary diseases or lower limb disabilities were not included to the study. Stature on body weight of all participants were measured and reported. In addition step length and stride length were taken for two different walking speeds. Walking speed were 3,3km/h and 5,3km/h for males, 2,7km/h and 4,7km/h for females. For both sexes after the individual started to walk on treadmill speed was increased gradually up to the first speed is reached and the participant wanted to walk at that speed for one minute. Later the speed of the treadmill was again gradually increased up to the second speed and the participant again wanted to walk for one minute. RESULTS: For female subjects statistically significant positive correlation was found between stature and step length and stride length, both for 2,7km/h and 4.7km/h (r = 0,334; r = 0,300, r = 0,344; r = 0,384 respectively). In males significant positive correlations between stature and step and stride lengths both for 3,3km/h and 5,3km/h. were also observed. (r = 0,327; r = 0,333; r = 0,260; r = 0,255. However, it was observed that the regression coefficients obtained from the step and stride length were very low.CONCLUSION: The results did not support the hypothesis of the study; regression equations and respected correlation coefficients calculated for stature estimation from step and stride lengths were too low. It could be concluded that step and stride lengths are not suitable independent variables for stature estimation. This study was approved by Başkent University Institutional Review Board and Ethics Committee (Project no: KA 18/149. Informed consents of the participants were taken and confidentiality of the results was quarantined). 60

Bu gözlemsel klinik araştırmada; diz üstü ampute hastalarda mikroişlemci kontrollü (MİK) protezlerin yürüme paterni ve enerji tüketimi üzerine olan etkisini araştırmayı amaçladık.Çalışmaya 34 unilateral diz üstü ampute hasta dahil edildi. Bu hastalardan, birinci gruptaki 17 kişi MİK protez kullanıyorken; ikinci gruptaki 17 kişi MİK olmayan protez kullanıyordu. Hastalar kullandıkları protez grubuna göre yürüme paternleri, enerji tüketimleri, hareket becerileri, yaşam kaliteleri, protezlerinden memnuniyet durumları ve yürüyüş kapasiteleri açılarından karşılaştırıldı. Değerlendirme ölçütleri olarak 3D yürüme analizi, egzersiz tolerans testi, Short form 36 (SF-36) anketi, Lökomotor Kapasite İndeksi-5 (LKI-5), Protez Memnuniyet Anketi (PMA) ve 6 dakika yürüme testi (6DYT) uygulandı.Çalışmanın sonucunda; MİK protezlerin yürümenin hız, ampute taraf adım uzunluğu, ampute taraf adım süresi ve ampute taraf tek destek fazı özelliklerine MİK olmayan protezlere göre istatistiksel olarak anlamlı ölçüde katkı sağladığı saptandı (p0.05). Protezle hareket etme becerilerinde MİK protez kullanan hasta grubunda minimal yükseklik olsa da istatistiksel olarak anlamlı seviyede değildi (p>0.05). MİK protez kullanan hastalar protezlerinden anlamlı ölçüde daha memnunlardı (p 0.05). The ability to move with prosthesis was minimal high but not statistically significant in the patient group using MIC prosthesis (p> 0.05). Patients using MIC prosthesis were significantly more satisfied with their prosthesis (p

The relationship between foot posture and arch structure with lower extremity biomechanics is especially important for clinicians. In this study, group I (flat foot) and group II (normal foot) were detected. It was aimed to evaluate some of the general gait parameters and supination resistance of the subtalar joint in these groups. 61 volunteers (30 females, 31 males) aged 18-30 years were participated in the study. Related demographic information of the individuals were collected. Based on the left foot, according to the 6-foot posture index (FPI-6), normal foot (values between 0-5) and pronated foot (values between 6-12) types were determined and according to the navicular height ratio, low arch ( 0.05). However, there was a negative correlation between FPI-6 and navicular height ratio (p 0.05). It has shown that general gait parameters and supination resistance did not differ significantly between group I and group II (p>0,05). 71

Walking, as a defining common characteristic of human existence, is an action in order to find the unseen or solely to drive the body to experience, discover and interpret the world. In the 1960s most especially in Europe and America, this pedestrian and ordinary movement became an art creation tool and object itself. The artists instrumentalized walking as a rebellion to the traditions of art production as well as presentation and used walking to create and exhibit their work. Today the history of `Walking Art` can be read especially with the late 1960's references within the scope of various theories such as; `space` in sculptural practices, `place` in Avangard's practices and `body` in choreographic processes. This thesis as a reflection of a choreographic process and a thinking practice embraces the process as research practice by working with diverse tools and notions and prioritize the trust to the process. Two bodies create a time-based choreography by measuring the space solely using the walking act in the choreography `WELCOME` and a video `pureland` as a final result of it. 83

The aim of this study was to compare the operated extremity with the intact extremity and the dominant extremity of healthy individuals in terms of gait and squat. Twenty-five patients who underwent ACL repair with hamstring tendon graft 36 (12-60) months ago and 23 healthy individuals were included in the study. Both extremities Semitendinosus (ST), Biceps Femoris (BF) and Rectus Femoris (RF) EMG evaluations were performed by using BTS Bioengineering Free EMG 100 RT. Muscle activation percentages were evaluated during walking and squat activities. In order to determine the walking phases during walking activity, G-walk device of BTS Bioengineering company was placed in L5 vertebra levels of individuals. When the operated and intact extremity was compared, muscles activation percenteges of BF (p = 0.001 / 0.014) and ST (p = 0.009 / 0.018) were higher in the swing / stance phase on the operated side. In addition, RF muscle activation percentage was similar in both swing (p = 0.247) and stance (p = 0.242) phases. ST muscle activation percentage was higher (p = 0.010) on the operated side during squat. BF (p = 0.128) and RF (p = 0.160) were similar. BF (p = 0.006) and ST (p = 0.021) were significantly higher in the stance phase of the gait on the operated side compared to the control group. RF muscle activation percentage was similar (p = 0.348). In the swing phase of the gait, BF (p = 0.002) muscle activation percentage was found higher on the operated side, whereas ST (p = 0.194) and RF (p = 0.306) were found similar. BF (p = 0.002) and ST (p = 0.016) muscle activations were higher on the operated side and RF (p = 0.798) muscle activation percentage was similar. We think that the reason of continuation of muscular activation differences although an average of 36 (12-60) months has passed over the operation is the continuation of the adaptation mechanisms developed as a result of ACL injury. We suggest that in addition to the strengthening programs, it is important to emphasize the motor learning programs to reflect the gains of strengthening programs on functional activities in daily life. By doing this, changed kinetic balance and kinematics of the knee can be approached to the pre-injury level. 125

The aim of this study was to compare the effects of yoga and conventional physiotherapy programs on fatigue, balance, walking and quality of life in patients with multiple sclerosis. Twenty volunteers (11F, 9M; 46.35 ± 11.89 years) were included in the study. The study group was randomly divided into two groups. The first group received yin yoga (n:10) and the second group received conventional physiotherapy (n: 10) 3 days a week, 60 minutes a day for a total of 8 weeks. Before and after treatment, fatigue severity scale (FSS), balance with Berg Balance Scale, walking with MS Walk Scale (MSWS-12 vst), MS Quality of Life Scale (MSQOL-54) were evaluated. In group analysis, yoga group after treatment; There was a statistically significant decrease in fatigue (p = 0.041) and MS walking (p = 0.003) scores in this group in terms of quality of life (MSQOL-54) assessment of mental and physical (p = 0.013, p = 0.006) and balance parameters (p = 0, 01) statistically significant increase. In the conventional physiotherapy group; there was no statistically significant difference between fatigue, balance, MS walking and quality of life scores. According to our findings, we found that the yoga group gave better results and we think that yoga may be an option to support exercise-based physiotherapy and rehabilitation programs in patients with mild to moderate MS. 119

On çocuk kontrol grubuna (Grup I), 12 çocuk çalışma grubuna (Grup II) dahil edildi. The aim of this study is to investigation of the effects of dynamic elastic orthosis on balance and gait parameters for lower body and pelvis in children with cerebral palsy with walking independently. Twenty two children (7 girls and 15 boys), between 4-10 years of ages, with spastic type cerebral palsy who were able to walking independently at I and II levels according to gross motor function classification system were included to the study. Children who had undergone botolinium toxin and/or surgery for the lower limb and pelvis within the last six months were not included in the study.Children who met the inclusion criteria were randomly divided into two groups. Ten children were included in the control group (Group I) and 12 children were included in the study group (Group II). Physiotherapy and rehabilitation programs were applied to all study groups in accordance with neurodevelopmental treatment approaches. The application was continued twice a week for a total of 8 weeks. In addition to the physiotherapy and rehabilitation sessions in Group II, neoprene orthosis was dressed in the thoracolumbosacral region. Frequency of use of orthosis; it was spread over the whole week, and was determined to stand on the day during which they were active (8 hours a day). After the demographic data of the children were recorded, Pediatric Balance Scale and Modified Time Up and Go Test were used for balance assessment. The walking parameters and kinematics of pelvis were evaluated using the BTS G-Walk® wireless miniature digital gait analysis system. At the end of the study, the balance parameters of the groups did not change. It was seen that the children in Group II had prolonged posture in the affected side with dynamic elastic orthosis and increased symmetry in the transverse and frontal plane in the pelvis. As a result, the elastic dynamic orthoses focusing on the lower body and the pelvis along with physiotherapy play an active role in modifying some walking parameters and increasing the symmetry in pelvis movements. 93
