Aortic aneurysm and dissection (AAD) are leading causes of death in the elderly. Recent studies have demonstrated that silicate ions can manipulate multiple cells, especially vascular-related cells. We demonstrated in this study that silicate ions as soluble form of bioactive ceramics effectively alleviated aortic aneurysm and dissection in both Ang II and β-BAPN induced AAD models. Different from the single targeting therapeutic drug approaches, the bioactive ceramic derived approach attributes to the effect of bioactive silicate ions on the inhibition of the AAD progression through regulating the local vascular microenvironment of aorta systematically in a multi-functional way. The in vitro experiments revealed that silicate ions did not only alleviate senescence and inflammation of the mouse aortic endothelial cells, enhance M2 polarization of mouse bone marrow-derived macrophages, and reduce apoptosis of mouse aortic smooth muscle cells, but also regulate their interactions. The in vivo studies further confirm that silicate ions could effectively alleviate senescence, inflammation, and cell apoptosis of aortas, accomplished with reduced aortic dilation, collagen deposition, and elastin laminae degradation. This bioactive ceramic derived therapy provides a potential new treatment strategy in attenuating AAD progression.

We study the classical expander codes, introduced by Sipser and Spielman [M. Sipser and D. A. Spielman, 1996]. Given any constants 0 < ��, �� < 1/2, and an arbitrary bipartite graph with N vertices on the left, M < N vertices on the right, and left degree D such that any left subset S of size at most �� N has at least (1-��)|S|D neighbors, we show that the corresponding linear code given by parity checks on the right has distance at least roughly {�� N}/{2 ��}. This is strictly better than the best known previous result of 2(1-��) �� N [Madhu Sudan, 2000; Viderman, 2013] whenever �� < 1/2, and improves the previous result significantly when �� is small. Furthermore, we show that this distance is tight in general, thus providing a complete characterization of the distance of general expander codes. Next, we provide several efficient decoding algorithms, which vastly improve previous results in terms of the fraction of errors corrected, whenever �� < 1/4. Finally, we also give a bound on the list-decoding radius of general expander codes, which beats the classical Johnson bound in certain situations (e.g., when the graph is almost regular and the code has a high rate). Our techniques exploit novel combinatorial properties of bipartite expander graphs. Verrucosidins, a methylated α-pyrone class of polyketides rarely reported upon, have been implicated in one or more neurological diseases. Despite the significance of verrucosidins as neurotoxins, the absolute configurations of most of the derivatives have not been accurately characterized yet. In this study, three pairs of C-9 epimeric verrucosidin derivatives, including the known compounds penicyrones A and B (1a/1b) and 9-O-methylpenicyrones A and B (2a/2b), the new compounds 9-O-ethylpenicyrones A and B (3a/3b), together with the related known derivative verrucosidin (4), were isolated and identified from the culture extract of Penicillium cyclopium SD-413, which was obtained from the marine sediment collected from the East China sea. Their structures were established based on an in-depth analysis of nuclear magnetic resonances (NMR) and mass spectroscopic data. Determination of the absolute configurations of these compounds was accomplished by Mosher’s method and time-dependent density functional theory (TDDFT) calculations of electronic circular dichroism (ECD) and optical rotation (OR). The configurational assignment of penicyrone A demonstrated that the previously reported C-6 absolute configuration of verrucosidin derivatives needs to be revised from (6S) to (6R). The 9R/9S epimers of compounds 1–3 were found to exhibit growth inhibition against some pathogenic bacteria, indicating that they have potential as lead compounds for the creation of antimicrobial agents.

Access control data will continue to be exposed to the threat of privacy leakage even if blockchain technology currently offers a new solution for the security and privacy of the internet of things (IoT). However, its usability and privacy are not completely leveraged. This paper first discusses the IoT and blockchain technology and then examines each technology's structural models in order to address the issue of information security and privacy protection for the global organization IoT based on blockchain. Second, the information security and privacy guarantee system based on blockchain is built with ZKP and TEE at its heart after problems with zero-knowledge proof (ZKP) and trusted execution environment (TEE) in information security guarantee based on blockchain are investigated. By comparing the simulation trials, the proposed system's viability is finally confirmed. The results demonstrate that the suggested algorithm's evidence generation time is 352 ms when it reaches the experiment's highest node 28, which is clearly faster than previous techniques.

Using JMatPro numerical simulation to determine the range of process parameters, the solution aging treatment of Ni30 superalloy was carried out, and the influence of different solution treatment temperatures on the microstructure and hardness of the alloy was studied. The results show that with the increase of solution temperature, the grain grows rapidly, the grain growth process conforms to Arrhenius formula, and the activation energy Q of grain growth is about 74.33kJ/mol. The maximum hardness value of the sample is 41.80HRC after solution aging treatment at 980°C.

Background: Language ability differs between the sexes. However, it is unclear how this sex difference is moderated by genetic factors and how the brain interacts with genetics to support this specific language capacity. Previous studies have demonstrated that the sorting protein-related receptor (SORL1) polymorphism influences cognitive function and brain structure differently in males and females and is associated with Alzheimer’s disease risk. Objective: The aim of this study was to investigate the effects of sex and the SORL1 rs1699102 (CC versus T carriers) genotype on language. Methods: 103 non-demented Chinese older adults from Beijing Aging Brain Rejuvenation Initiative (BABRI) database were included in this study. Participants completed language tests, T1-weighted structural magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) and resting-state functional MRI. Language test performance, gray matter volume, and network connections were compared between genotype and sex groups. Results: The rs1699102 polymorphism moderated the effects of sex on language performance, with the female having reversed language advantages in T carriers. The T allele carriers had lower gray matter volume in the left precentral gyrus. The effect of sex on language network connections was moderated by rs1699102; male CC homozygotes and female T carriers had higher internetwork connections, which were negatively correlated with language performance. Conclusion: These results suggest that SORL1 moderates the effects of sex on language, with T being a risk allele, especially in females. Our findings underscore the importance of considering the influence of genetic factors when examining sex effects.
