UK was one of the worst impacted countries by the COVID-19 pandemic. As of January 2021, The number of coronavirus cases in the UK has exceeded two million, while the death toll exceeded 60,000. The leading cause for the spread of the virus was identified as the droplets ejected by infected individuals. Hence, to prevent the spread of the virus, governments worldwide have implemented restrictive measures to decrease population mobility. The UK had followed many strategies during their combat against the disease. Their strategies were: herd immunity, lockdowns, and partial lockdowns. After detecting a more infectious strain of the virus, strict restrictions are again implemented in the UK. In this paper, we analyze the relationship between coronavirus cases and public transportation mobility in the UK. Our analysis results show that mobility restrictions are highly effective, but it takes about nine days to see the full impact on the number of new COVID-19 cases.

To evaluate neutrophil to lymphocyte ratio (NLR) and monocyte to lymphocyte ratio (MLR) in patients with gouty arthritis. Forty-five patients with gout and 45 healthy age and gender matched individuals, were included in this study. Clinical and laboratory data of patients during acute gouty arthritis (AGA) attack period, as well as in remission and control group data were reviewed and recorded from medical files. Patients were divided into two groups as having the arthritis attack and in remission. Neutrophil to lymphocyte ratio values were 4.19 ± 3.37 in AGA patients, 2.64 ± 1.74 in patients in remission and 2.07 ± 1.01 in controls. As part of our ongoing effort to investigate transit timing variations (TTVs) of known exoplanets, we monitored transits of the four exoplanets HAT-P-18b, HAT-P-19b, HAT-P-27b/WASP-40b and WASP-21b. All of them are suspected to show TTVs due to the known properties of their host systems based on the respective discovery papers. During the past three years 46 transit observations were carried out, mostly using telescopes of the Young Exoplanet Transit Initiative. The analyses are used to refine the systems' orbital parameters. In all cases we found no hints for significant TTVs, or changes in the system parameters inclination, fractional stellar radius and planet-to-star radius ratio. However, comparing our results with those available in the literature shows that we can confirm the already published values.

In this paper, a new ultra-compact optical biosensor based on photonic crystal (phc) resonant cavity is proposed. This sensor has ability to work in chemical optical processes for the determination and analysis of liquid material. Here, we used an optical filter based on two-dimensional phc resonant cavity on a silicon layer and an active area is created in center of cavity. According to results, with increasing the refractive index of cavity, resonant wavelengths shift so that this phenomenon provides the ability to measure the properties of materials. This novel designed biosensor has more advantage to operate in the biochemical process for example sensing protein and DNA molecule refractive index. This nanoscale biosensor has quality factor higher than 1.5 × 104 and it is suitable to be used in the home healthcare diagnostic applications.

The aim of this study was to make a conclusion about aplicability of two differnet gonadothropins in COS (rFSH versus HP-hMG). The primary conclusion for the success as a result of COS are the mean number of retrived oocytes, mature oocytes, fertilization rate, mean number of quality embrios, and criopreverzed embrios. The secondary conclusions were clinical pregnancy rate and delivery rates.The study was a retrospective case-control study,. A total of 1238 fresh, non donor, IVF cycles with COS were analyzed, but to minimize the bias, only the first cycle for each patient below 40 yaears old, in that period was analyzed. This selection composed the group of respondents that was analyzed which in total amounted to 760 patients.( rFSH = 422, HP-hMG = 338). The patients underwent COS by long luteal protocol using two differnt inducers of COS (rFSH and HP-hMG).The average starting dose of rFSH used was significantely lower (152.7 +/- 41.1IU), whereas with HMG it was (228.8 +/- _68.7 IU, p=000000). The average number of IU gonadothropin used in therapy, statistically highly is significantly lower when r- FSH is used as an inducer. (1639.2 +/- 476.9 IU, rFSH vs 2356.4 +/- 955.1 IU, HP-hMG, p0.001). We received significantly higher average number of oocytes and mature oocytes in the group of r-FSH (oocytes; rFSH v HP-hMG-11.8 +/- 7.1 v 10.7 +/- 6.5, p = 0.028 ; mature oocytes: rFSH v HP-hMG 9.9 +/- 6.2 v8.7 +/- 5.5 p = 0.009). However, we did not find a significant difference in the use of the COS inductors regarding the clinical pregnancy rate (rFSH v HP-hMG 49.5% vs 48.9% p=0.92) and delivery rate (rFSH vs HP-hMG 42.9% vs 43.4% p=0.96).CONCLUSIONSs: Our study showed that rFSH is more powerful and more applicable in individualized dosing then HP-hMG and brings better results from COS (more oocytes, more matured oocytes).

WOS: 000324692900001 A 12-week feeding experiment was conducted to evaluate the use of skate meal derived from fishery by-catches as a partial or complete replacement of fishmeal in diets for tilapia fry (Oreochromis niloticus). Five isonitrogenous (33%) and isoenergetic (15.3 kJ g-1) diets were formulated to replace 0 (control), 25%, 50%, 75%, or 100% of fishmeal by skate meal. Fish were stocked in triplicate groups of 20 fish in 120-l aquaria and fed three times daily to apparent satiation. Final body weight, weight gain, and specific growth rate in fish fed the diet containing skate meal at a replacement level of 25% were best and statistically similar to those in fish fed the control. Feed intake, feed conversion ratio, and protein efficiency ratio in fish fed the diets containing up to 50% replacement were similar to those fed the control. There were insignificant differences in the crude protein and ash contents of the final fish whole body, however, moisture and lipid content were significantly affected by dietary treatment. The highest apparent digestibility coefficients for protein, lipid, energy, and ash were obtained in fish fed the 25% replacement diet. Together, our results indicate that up to 25% of fishmeal can be replaced by skate meal in practical diets for tilapia fry without causing a significant reduction in growth performance, feed efficiency, body composition, or digestibility. Treacher Collins syndrome is an autosomal dominant disorder of craniofacial development with an incidence of I in 40,000 to in 70,000 live births. It is characterized by abnormalities of the pinnae which are frequently associated with atresia of the external auditory canals and anomalies of the middle ear ossicles. Rarely congenital heart defects can be present. Prenatal paroxetine exposure may enhance the risks of major malformation, particularly cardiac defects. This article reports a newborn, whose mother used paroxetine during pregnancy, presenting with multiple congenital heart defects associated to typical physical characteristics of Treacher Collins syndrome.

Objectives: Nucleus accumbens plays an important role in opioid addiction. Topiramate, increases postsynaptic gamma-aminobutyric acid receptor activity and antagonizes glutamatergic activity. Brain-derived neurotrophic factor (BDNF), which plays a key role in synaptic plasticity, is produced from proBDNF. The aim of this study is to investigate the effects of 100 μM topiramate applied into the lateral ventricle or nucleus accumbens on naloxone-induced morphine withdrawal and the BDNF/proBDNF ratio in the frontal cortex. Methods: In the study, 36 adult male Wistar rats weighing 250–350 g were used. Morphine dependence was created with morphine pellets following guide cannula implantations. Withdrawal findings were evaluated in naloxone-induced morphine withdrawal syndrome following topiramate administration, and locomotor activity measurements were performed simultaneously. The brains of sacrificed animals were removed for determination of BDNF/ proBDNF ratio. Results: Topiramate administered by either route significantly suppressed the number of jumps in morphine withdrawal. Topiramate applied into the nucleus accumbens significantly reduced stereotypical behavior in morphine withdrawal, but did not cause any changes in other locomotor activity behaviors. Topiramate applied into the lateral ventricle significantly decreased the BDNF/proBDNF ratio, whereas administered into the nucleus accumbens significantly increased this ratio. Conclusion: The findings of this study indicate that topiramate administered into the lateral ventricle and nucleus accumbens reduces naloxone-induced morphine withdrawal symptoms, stereotypical locomotor activity, and changes the BDNF/proBDNF ratio.

Purpose Non-functioning pituitary neuroendocrine tumors are challengingly diagnosed tumors in the clinic. Transsphenoidal surgery remains the frst-line treatment. Despite the development of state-of-the-art techniques, no drug therapy is currently approved for the treatment. There are also no randomized controlled trials comparing therapeutic strategies or drug therapy for the management after surgery. Therefore, novel therapeutic interventions for the therapeutically challenging NF-PitNETs are urgently needed. Methods We integrated epigenome and transcriptome data (both coding and non-coding) that elucidate disease-specifc signatures, in addition to biological and pharmacological data, to utilize rational pathway and drug prioritization in NFPitNETs. We constructed an epigenome- and transcriptome-based PPI network and proposed hub genes. The signature-based drug repositioning based on the integration of multi-omics data was performed. Results The construction of a disease-specifc network based on three diferent biological levels revealed DCC, DLG5, ETS2, FOXO1, HBP1, HMGA2, PCGF3, PSME4, RBPMS, RREB1, SMAD1, SOCS1, SOX2, YAP1, ZFHX3 as hub proteins. Signature-based drug repositioning using hub proteins yielded repositioned drug candidates that were confrmed in silico via molecular docking. As a result of molecular docking simulations, palbociclib, linifanib, trametinib, eplerenone, niguldipine, and zuclopenthixol showed higher binding afnities with hub genes compared to their inhibitors and were proposed as potential repositioned therapeutics for the management of NF-PitNETs. Conclusion The proposed systems’ biomedicine-oriented multi-omics data integration for drug repurposing to provide promising results for the construction of efective clinical therapeutics. To the best of our knowledge, this is the frst study reporting epigenome- and transcriptome-based drug repositioning for NF-PitNETs using in silico confrmations.
