Methods: Genome-wide chromosomal CNVs were investigated in 6 cervical cancer cell lines by Human Genome CGH Microarray Kit (4x44K). Gene expression profiles in cervical cancer cell lines, primary cervical carcinoma and normal cervical epithelium tissues were also studied using the Whole Human Genome Microarray Kit (4x44K). Results: Fifty common chromosomal CNVs were identified in the cervical cancer cell lines. Correlation analysis revealed that gene up-regulation or down-regulation is significantly correlated with genomic amplification ( P =0.009) or deletion ( P =0.006) events. Expression profiles were identified through cluster analysis. Gene annotation analysis pinpointed cell cycle pathways was significantly ( P =1.15E-08) affected in cervical cancer. Common CNVs were associated with cervical cancer. Conclusion: Chromosomal CNVs may contribute to their transcript expression in cervical cancer.

Smart transportation and smart healthcare are considered as essential Smart City applications. The emerging light-weight sensors facilitate real-time monitoring drivers' status in various applications especially safety and healthcare. As such, the statistics reveals that >60% of adult drivers felt sleepy while driving, and drunk drivers are found in >40% of traffic accidents. In this paper, an electrocardiogram (ECG) based Drivers' Status Monitoring (ECG-DSM) system is developed to detect drowsy and drunk driving. The proposed ECG-DSM extracted similarities of ECG signals under normal, drowsy and drunk conditions, and the corresponding feature vector was built. The classifier is expected to alert drivers accurately and timely to prevent traffic accidents. Hence, the classifier's trade-off between accuracy and detection time was analysed by adjusting the dimensionality of feature vector. Safety analysis using Monte Carlo simulation was carried out to determine the best classifier under practical working environment. The results demonstrated that the best classifier for ECG-DSM achieves 91 % of average accuracy and 4.2s of detection time, and it can prevent >92 % of vehicle collisions due to drowsy and drunk driving. The proposed work will contribute to road traffic safety and save $50 billion US dollars on the cost of traffic injuries.

The quasi-one-dimensional (QOD), many-hard-disks system is a model of the motion of N circular particles within a long, narrow two-dimensional channel. Interaction consists of elastic hard collisions between neighbouring particles. The curvature of the interaction surfaces and the symmetries of the dynamics give the system a number of properties, which we investigate by the numerical calculation of its Lyapunov spectrum and Lyapunov vectors. We focus on the Lyapunov modes, which are the Lyapunov vectors corresponding to the near-zero part of the Lyapunov spectrum. We attempt to explain the form of the Lyapunov modes purely as a result of the structure of tangent-space dynamics, using a phenomenological field theory approach. The basic structure of the dynamics is an exchange of a fraction of the difference between the corresponding tangent-vector elements of a pair of colliding particles. This structure leads to the different Lyapunov mode forms, which we treat as fields, given the appropriate restrictions. The time-constant sinusoidal transverse modes are due to a minimisation problem. The same applies to the longitudinal and momentum-proportional parts of the LP modes; the wavelike motion is produced by the coupling between the two fields. We verify these ideas by introducing a toy model which reproduces the basic structure of the tangent-space dynamics by replacing certain expressions involving phase variables with random numbers.
