Abstract

International audience; This paper shows a comparison between Vector fitting and rational Krylov fitting techniques for the determination of rational models concerning the fitting accuracy, the computational performances and the model order. Primarily, the mathematics behind the second technique are presented. It should be noted that rational Krylov fitting have never been used in transmission line modeling. A new procedure is proposed to use rational Krylov fitting instead of vector fitting in the universal line model (ULM). Furthermore, it is demonstrated that this procedure has several advantages over the traditional one. Two illustrative examples involving a transmission system are presented for validation of the new procedure.

Abstract

The paper presents a new method to solve the electromagnetic field in 2-D cylindrical geometries. The method is based on the analytical solution of the magnetic potential. The method can be used to compute inductor or transformer winding resistance or leakage inductance with high accuracy up to several megahertz. The proposed method assumes no simplification of the problem, and then achieves higher accuracy than the classical method such as homogenization techniques. The method requires no meshing unlike finite-element analysis (FEA) resulting in shorter computation time. The method is compared with FEA on the bifilar line. The method overperform existing methods in terms of accuracy and computation time.

Abstract

This paper highlights an energy management of battery-PEM fuel cell hybrid energy storage for electric vehicle. Generally, fuel cells (FCs) are not sufficient to satisfy the load demand, so batteries are added to make the system more sustainable. The studied system consists of fuel cells and battery bank storage to produce energy without interruption. The hybrid source is sized for feeding an electric vehicle of 3 kW. The mathematical model topology and the identification of each subsystem are presented. The power management control (PMC) is developed to supply electric vehicle without interruption. Two algorithms of PMC are developed in this paper. The first one, based on power balance, is used just to show the power flow between the different storage sources. The second one is proposed to recover fuel cells energy in case of energy excess. Obtained results under Matlab/Simulink and some experimental ones are presented and discussed.

Abstract

TiO2-like polymer films were synthesized by inductively coupled plasma in pulsed radio-frequency (RF) modes. The plasma chemistry, studied by optical emission spectroscopy, showed that the ra- dicals and fragments formed in the discharge were dependent on the precursor, and that the species density in the plasma gas is as a function of flux de gas that is used to carry the monomer into the plasma reactors.

Abstract

Modeling and computing of mutual inductance between solid conductors or coils of rectangular cross section carrying uniform current and parallelepiped magnets of rigid polarization have been made. For this purpose, the integral approach using a quasi-static Green's functions is used. The inductance is calculated between the total volume of a conductor and the equivalent current surfaces densities described by the Amperian model of permanent magnets. The analytical results are obtained after five integrations. It is to be noted that the formulas developed in this paper are more general that the ones established in the literature and can be used for optimization purposes. In addition, this paper is carried out without using any simplifying assumptions. Consequently, these expressions are accurate whatever the magnet dimensions are. This analytical formulation compared with finite element method one is suitable for the design of unconventional magnetic couplings, magnetically planar actuator, electric machines, wigglers, and so on.

Abstract

COSPAS-SARSAT system which consists of space segment and ground segment provides a distress alert and the position information for a distressed airplane with beacon equipment. Currently, COSPAS-SARSAT system it's low on the second generation of beacons because allows for the encoding of position data in the transmitted 406 MHz message, thus providing for quasi-real time alerts and position information through the GEOSAR service. This paper presents realization of a beacon ELT second generation 406 MHz for use in aerospace applications and detection and decoding of frames sent. Also, performance is presented through the experience.

Abstract

This paper highlights an energy management of battery-PEM Fuel cell Hybrid energy storage for electric vehicle. The battery alone cannot cater the load demand; it is why fuel cell (FC) is integrated to make the system more sustainable The hybrid system is used to produce energy without interruption and it consists of a proton exchange membrane fuel cell (PEMFC) and battery bank storage (BBS) for short-term storage. The mathematical model topology and the energy management of the global system are presented. Obtained results under Matlab/Simulink and experimental ones obtained, using dspace DS1104 real-time controller, are presented and discussed.

Abstract

Nowadays, the distribution networks are facing with new challenges such as the electrical vehicle connection, the emergence of new charges such induction cookers especially in South America and a strong integration of distributed generation at the low voltage level. In addition, the costumers are transforming their habits in order to become much more active in the network. Hence, this paper assesses the impact of new load/generation connected at low voltage as well as proposes a demand side management technique in order to try to reduce the main power peak during the night. The authors use real information coming from measurements.

Abstract

Fabrication and characterization of multilayered screenprinted P(VDF-TrFE) piezoelectric microgenerators is reported. Micrometer-sized films were deposited on a flexible polymer substrate with evaporated gold-bottom electrodes, followed by deposition of PEDOT:PSS electrodes. Electrical characterization showed excellent ferroelectric properties and open-circuit voltage was measured as a function of applied strain. Generated energy is calculated and discussed in terms of energy harvesting applications. Maximum open-circuit voltage of 10 V and corresponding energy density of 275 µJ/cm3 are achieved.

Abstract

Power by wire concept is a novel trend in modern electrical systems. Hence, system networks have become more and more sophisticated, and their modeling is no longer an easy task. In this paper, we propose an analytical analysis of a global EMC of a modern electrical network. Explicitly, we develop an analytical model to evaluate differential mode impedance at different sites of a complex network. To this end, we use a Transmission Line “TL” theory applied in the case of bifilar cables. Bifilar cable parameters, such as the propagation constant and the characteristic impedance, are identified by measurement via the impedance analyzer Agilent 4294A. Such parameters are included into the analytical model for the computation process. The impedances, computed at different sites are compared to each other, and on the same time, to the impedance of Line Impedance Stabilization Network (LISN) in accordance with the CISPR 22 standard. To assess the model performance, we have carried out an experimental test bench. The measured impedances agree with those computed analytically.

Abstract

We propose in the present paper a lower gain adaptive Sliding Mode Control (SMC) method, of Doubly Fed Induction Generator (DFIG) stator powers. This allows eliminating some problems caused by high gain SMC. The main idea is to put the DFIG model under state space presentation using as states the stator and rotor currents with rotor speed. Using Euler method, the DFIG model can be rewritten as ARMA model, which used to online identification of DFIG resistances and inductances based on Recursive Least Square (RLS) algorithm and Low-Pass Filter (LPF). These identified parameters are used to calculate the stator power control law. In this case, we demonstrated using Lyapunov function that a lower gain satisfied to achieve the control objectives. The viability of our approach is verified by simulation results in the case of DFIG rating at 1.5 MW.

International audience; Cet article propose un couplage entre la méthode des éléments finis et un modèle d'arc électrique dans le vide pour le dimensionnement des disjoncteurs à vide. La méthode des éléments finis permet de calculer le champ magnétique dans l'espace inter-électrodes. Un modèle dépendant de ce champ permet de trouver une nouvelle position d'arc. Dans une dernière partie, une méthode simple pour estimer le pas de temps séparant deux positions d'arc successives est proposée. ABSTRACT. This paper proposes a coupling between finite element method and an electrical arc model for sizing vacuum circuit breakers. FEM allows to calculate magnetic field between electrodes. A model depending on this field is then applied to find the new arc position. In last part a time step estimation method is proposed. Abstract

The design of electronic power converters includes many aspects such magnetism, material choice, geometry and heat transfer. Their simulations require complex and iterative methods. The compact thermal model (CTM) can then be used to limit the computation time in the design stage. In the model adopted in this paper, the system is represented by two exchange surfaces. An impedance matrix is used to link the temperature of the surfaces to the heat fluxes. This matrix should be independent of the boundary conditions applied at each exchange surface. The computation of the impedance matrix elements versus the frequency is explained. The model is validated using finite element simulations.

Abstract

The present work focuses on modelling of sensor-less Direct Power Control based on Virtual Flux (DPC-VF) for three levels AC/DC converter for wind power system in the case of grid abnormality. As a fact, when an unbalance appears in the grid, the negative sequence affects the quality of Dc-link at the output of the converter and makes deterioration in grid current. In order to improve the behaviour of the converter under grid abnormality, the grid currents and Virtual Flux are decomposed in separating positive and negative sequence using double second order generalized integrator Direct Power Control (DSOGIFLL) then compensating active and reactive powers are calculated according to the control objective and injected in the referencing one. The proposed controller ensures voltage balance in DC-link capacitors by using redundant vectors in a space vector modulation block without needing additional components. In order to test the effectiveness of the control scheme, a numerical simulation is performed using the Matlab-Simulink software. The results prove the validity of the proposed control algorithm.
