The effects of different surface modifiers on the CO2 adsorption capacity of coal-based activated carbons were studied, and the diffusion behavior, adsorption kinetics and thermodynamic parameters of CO2 in activated carbons were analyzed. The results show that compared with ethylene glycol, 1,2-propylenediamine and zinc chloride, potassium hydroxide and sodium hydroxide can greatly improve CO2 adsorption capacity. The adsorption rate is faster, and the adsorption capacity is larger, with the maximum CO2 adsorption capacity being 33.54 mL/g. Fick's law can well describe the diffusion behavior of CO2 in activated carbon. The addition of a surface modifier can increase the diffusion coefficient. The diffusion of CO2 in activated carbon falls into the category of crystal diffusion. The adsorption kinetics of CO2 before and after surface modification follow the Bangham equation. During the adsorption process, δ H < 0, δ G < 0, δ S < 0. Surface modification can reduce adsorption heat and promote adsorption, and the adsorption process is dominated by physisorption.

Objective: To characterize carotid wall shear stress (WSS)following carotid artery stenting (CAS) in patients with carotid stenosis. Methods: Twenty-eight patients with carotid stenosis treated with CAS between March 2021 to May 2022 in the eighth medical center of the PLA General Hospital were selected for our study. Carotid ultrasound was performed before the operation, one week post-operation, and six months post-operation. Carotid artery WSS was detected by blood flow vector imaging, and the changes in WSS before and after the operation were collected. Genetic testing of drugs was detected for patients with restenosis. Results: Pre-operative WSS of the proximal, narrowest region, and distal carotid arteries in patients with ischemic carotid artery stenosis was 7.88±3.18Pa, 14.36±6.66Pa, and 1.55±1.15Pa, respectively. Comparatively, pre-operative WSS of the proximal, narrowest region and distal carotid arteries in patients without ischemic symptoms was 5.02±1.99Pa, 9.68±4.23Pa, and 1.10±0.68Pa, respectively, with a significant difference between the two groups (p 0.05). Conclusion: Changes in carotid WSS are closely related to carotid stenosis, which can provide important hemodynamic information for the treatment of CAS. The technique has important application value in pre-operative evaluation, curative effect evaluation, and long-term follow-up.

Prototheca species are the only microalgae known to cause opportunistic infections in vertebrates and humans. Most cases of protothecosis in humans are caused by Prototheca wickerhamii, but knowledge of the pathogenicity and biology of Prototheca is limited. Globally, the diagnostic rate of Prototheca species infection is much lower than the actual rate of P. wickerhamii. The precise mechanisms underlying the pathogenesis of Prototheca infections remain unclear. In this study, we identified a strain of P. wickerhamii with atypical colony morphology. To reveal the morphological differences between P. wickerhamii S1 (mucous) and the molecular basis of its pathogenicity, the transcriptomics, proteomics, and metabolomics of two pathogenic P. wickerhamii strains and one environmental strain were analysed. Interestingly, mannan endo-1,4-β-mannosidase was significantly downregulated in P. wickerhamii S1, which contributes to a thinner cell wall in S1 compared to strains with typical colony morphology, and the toxicity of macrophages is reduced. Metabolite analysis revealed that the mucoid appearance of P. wickerhamii S1 may have been caused by an increase in linoleic acid, glycerol, and other metabolites. There is still a need to better understand the ecology, aetiology, and pathogenesis of P. wickerhamii, and in particular, its transmission between humans, animals, and the environment, from a One Health perspective.

This paper analyzes the spatial structure and movement characteristics of bones in Taiji movement, and puts forward the viewpoint that the human body forms a "rigid and flexible" coupled movement force system with the bones and fascia during Taiji movement, and this relates to the structural forces experiences by the human body in Taiji movement. In Taiji movement, the fascia wraps and connects bones in series. This forms a rigid flexible coupling prestressed force system in the human body. It is believed that to understand the ancient process of Taiji scientifically, it will be required to undertake a combined study of fascia science, fluid mechanics, spatial structure mechanics, modern kinematics, with other research disciplines.

PURPOSE: To explore the relationship between ATM, ATR and CAT polymorphisms and prognosis of lung cancer patients received platinum-based chemotherapy.METHODS: 404 patients with lung cancer who received platinum-chemotherapy were enrolled and DNA typing was performed. Cox regression analysis and stratification analyses was performed to assess relationships between OS and PFS with SNPs genotypes. The prognosis of lung adenocarcinomaand squamous cell carcinomapatients was analyzed with The Cancer Genome Atlas (TCGA) database according to the grouping of CAT expression.RESULTS:CAT rs769217 was significantly related to PFS of patients with lung cancer who received platinum-chemotherapy. In the Additive model, rs769217 was associated with PFS (HR = 0.747, 95% CI = 0.581–0.960, p = 0.023). In the Dominant model, CT and TT genotypes led to lung cancer progression 0.738 times more than CC genotype. In stratification analyses of association between CAT rs769217 polymorphisms and PFS, the HR of patients at stage IV in additive model was 0.73, and HR was 0.745 (p = 0.034) in dominant model. For OS analyses, HR was 0.672 in the older lung cancer patients (>55 years old) in additive model. Meanwhile, in the Dominant model, it was found that the older patients with CT and TT genotypes had better prognosis, and the risk of death after receiving platinum-based chemotherapy was 0.692 times that of patients with CC genotype (p = 0.037). TCGA data shows that LUAD patients with high CAT expression have longer OS (p = 0.020).CONCLUSION:CAT rs769217 is significantly related to PSF of platinum-based chemotherapy in lung cancer patients and may be a biomarker for predicting the prognosis of lung cancer patients with platinum-based chemotherapy.

Parahellenia trongduyii Juan Chen, V.C.Nguyen, K.S.Nguyen & N.H.Xia, sp. nov. Diagnosis:—It is similar to P. tonkinensis, but differs in unbranched or barely branched (vs. densely branched) stems, narrowly triangularlanceolate (vs. broadly triangular) and glabrous (vs. densely pubescent) axillary buds, softly mucronate (vs. pungent, making a finger bleeding if touched) bract apex, yellow to whitish yellow labellum with longitudinal orange to red lines at center (vs. yellow labellum with longitudinal red lines at center), anther crest 9‒12 mm (vs. 3‒5 mm) long and slightly bilobed (vs. deeply bilobed) dorsal appendage of stigma. Type:— Collected from the material cultivated at V. C. Nguyen’s private garden on 25 August 2021, V. C. Nguyen & V. K. Nguyen CD 01 (holotype HN; isotypes HN, IBSC). Originally collected by T. D. Nguyen in July 2019 from Vietnam, Dak Lak Province, Krong Bong District, Chu Yang Sin National Park, Yang Mao Commune, along banks of small streams at elevations of 700‒900 m a.s.l. (Figs. 1‒3). Terrestrial evergreen perennial herb. Rhizome plagiotropic, tuberous, 2‒4 cm in diam., brown externally, white internally, glabrous. Leafy shoot 75‒140(‒250) cm tall, up to 3 cm in diam. at base. Stem more or less straight, erect to suberect, unbranched or barely branched at higher nodes. Axillary bud 1 at each node, narrowly triangular-lanceolate, 12‒15 × 5‒6 mm, green with red tip, glabrous. Bladeless sheaths closed, reddish brown, membranous, caducous, glabrous. Leaves 10‒20, consistently clustered toward the shoot apex; sheaths closed, pale green when young, later becoming reddish brown, glabrous; ligule 1.8‒2.5 mm long, glabrous, upper margin minutely fimbriate; petiole 0.9‒2.2 cm long, 0.8‒1 cm in diam., adaxially grooved, yellowish green, reddish brown at base, glabrous; blades 20‒35 × 5‒8 cm, the lowest ones obovate to oblanceolate, the upper ones oblanceolate to elliptic, base narrowly attenuate, apex acuminate, adaxial surface deep green, abaxial surface pale green, glabrous on both sides, midvein slight sunken adaxially and conspicuously raised abaxially. Seeds 3‒4 × 2‒2.3 mm, irregularly barrel-shaped, black, aril basal and not enclosing the seed, white. Phenology:—Flowering from June to August; fruiting from July and likely continuing till October. Etymology:—The specific epithet is named after Mr. Nguyen Trong Duy, who collected the living material of the species in its type locality. Suggested common names:—Mía dò Trọng Duy (Vietnamese), Øṃṁƛ&aogon;ae (du&omacr; lè dì w&omacr; s&ubreve;n hu&amacr;) (Chinese). Distribution, habitat and conservation:—This species is currently known from Chu Yang Sin National Park in Dak Lak Province and Thach Nham protected forest in Kon Tum Province in Vietnam. Parahellenia trongduyii grows in shady, moist places along small streams, in evergreen broad-leaved forests at elevations of 700–900 m a.s.l. We observed five clumps of the species in Chu Yang Sin National Park, a protected area where agricultural activities and exploitation of non-timber forest products are prohibited. Due to lack of information on the distribution (extent of occurrence (EOO) or areas of occupancy (AOO)) and population size of P. trongduyii, its conservation status is assessed here as Data Deficient (DD), following the IUCN Red List Categories and Criteria (IUCN 2012). Notes:—As elaborated in the diagnosis, Parahellenia trongduyii closely resembles P. tonkinensis but is readily distinguished from it in the field even by vegetative characters, e.g., barely branched leafy shoots and narrowly triangular-lanceolate glabrous buds. Parahellenia trongduyii is also similar to P. candida, but differs in reddish brown (vs. brown) and glabrous (vs. densely puberulent) bladeless sheaths, glabrous (vs. puberulous) abaxial side of leaf blade, softly (vs. sharply) mucronate bract apex and yellow (vs. white) flowers. Parahellenia candida (Škorni&ccaron;k., Böhmová & H.Ð.Trẫn) N.H.Xia & Juan Chen, comb. nov. Basionym:— Cheilocostus candidus Leong-Škorni&ccaron;ková, Böhmová & Trẫn (2022: 105). Type:— VIETNAM. Lam Dong Province (cultivated in the Singapore Botanic Gardens, Singapore), collected from cultivation on 21 September 2021, Leong-Škorni&ccaron;ková GRC-421 (holotype SING; isotypes E, P, SGN). Phenology:—Flowering in the natural habitat was observed in June; in cultivation, it extends to October; fruiting unknown. Distribution, habitat and conservation:—Endemic to Vietnam, occurring near rocky streams in lowland broadleaved evergreen forest, at elevations about 200– 300 m. According to Leong-Škorni&ccaron;ková et al. (2022), there is no reliable information on the population sizes or distribution of this species. It was therefore treated as Data Deficient (IUCN 2012). Notes:— Parahellenia candida is characterized by unbranched or barely branched stems, radical inflorescence, long and narrow floral tube fused with the style base more than halfway (assessed from Fig. 2 in Leong-Škorni&ccaron;ková et al. 2022) and bilamellate stigma. With these features, this species fits well the concept of the genus Parahellenia. A large amount of agro-industrial residues are produced from the planting, production and processing of traditional Chinese herbs. As a tonic, edible, and economical herb, Codonopsis pilosula root has been extensively developed into medicine and functional food. However, thousands of tons of aerial parts (stems, leaves, flowers and fruits) have been directly discarded after harvest each year. To utilise agro-wastes, Pleurotus ostreatus was cultivated on a basal substrate supplemented with C. pilosula stems and leaves (CSL). Physicochemical analyses revealed that the basal substrate mixed with CSL was more abundant in cellulose, hemicellulose, and most of micronutrients such as K, Ca, Mg, S, Fe, Zn and Mo. After the first flush, the fruit bodies in CSL group exhibited a higher fresh weight, a wider average pileus diameter and a lower moisture level. Nutrition analyses presented a higher protein content and a lower fat content in mushrooms from CSL group compared with control group. Interestingly, 14 amino acids (glutamine, arginine, valine, leucine, and etc.) and 3 micronutrients (Se, Fe and Zn) were increased after CSL addition to the substrate. Based on untargeted metabolomics, a total of 710 metabolites were annotated. Compared with control group, there were 142 and 117 metabolites significantly increased and decreased in the CSL group. Most of them were grouped into classes of amino acids and peptids, fatty acids, carbohydrates, terpenoids, and etc. Moreover, an abundance of phytometabolites from Codonopsis were detected in P. ostreatus from CSL group, including polyacetylenes or polyenes, flavonoids, alkaloids, terpenoids, organic acids, and etc. UPLC-MS/MS results demonstrated that lobetyolin content in the CSL group samples was 0.0058%. In summary, the aerial parts of C. pilosula processed for use in the production of edible mushroom is an emerging strategy to converting agricultural waste into functional foods.

Selection of covariates is crucial in the estimation of average treatment effects given observational data with high or even ultra-high dimensional pretreatment variables. Existing methods for this problem typically assume sparse linear models for both outcome and univariate treatment, and cannot handle situations with ultra-high dimensional covariates. In this paper, we propose a new covariate selection strategy called double screening prior adaptive lasso (DSPAL) to select confounders and predictors of the outcome for multivariate treatments, which combines the adaptive lasso method with the marginal conditional (in)dependence prior information to select target covariates, in order to eliminate confounding bias and improve statistical efficiency. The distinctive features of our proposal are that it can be applied to high-dimensional or even ultra-high dimensional covariates for multivariate treatments, and can deal with the cases of both parametric and nonparametric outcome models, which makes it more robust compared to other methods. Our theoretical analyses show that the proposed procedure enjoys the sure screening property, the ranking consistency property and the variable selection consistency. Through a simulation study, we demonstrate that the proposed approach selects all confounders and predictors consistently and estimates the multivariate treatment effects with smaller bias and mean squared error compared to several alternatives under various scenarios. In real data analysis, the method is applied to estimate the causal effect of a three-dimensional continuous environmental treatment on cholesterol level and enlightening results are obtained.

Background: Seed abortion is a common phenomenon in Chinese jujube that seriously hinders the process of cross-breeding. However, the molecular mechanisms of seed abortion remain unclear in jujube. Methods: Here, we performed transcriptome sequencing using eight flower and fruit tissues at different developmental stages in Ziziphus jujuba Mill. ‘Zhongqiusucui’ to identify key genes related to seed abortion. Histological analysis revealed a critical developmental process of embryo abortion after fertilization. Results: Comparisons of gene expression revealed a total of 14,012 differentially expressed genes. Functional enrichment analyses of differentially expressed genes between various sample types uncovered several important biological processes, such as embryo development, cellular metabolism, and stress response, that were potentially involved in the regulation of seed abortion. Furthermore, gene co-expression network analysis revealed a suite of potential key genes related to ovule and seed development. We focused on three types of candidate genes, agamous subfamily genes, plant ATP-binding cassette subfamily G transporters, and metacaspase enzymes, and showed that the expression profiles of some members were associated with embryo abortion. Conclusions: This work generates a comprehensive gene expression data source for unraveling the molecular mechanisms of seed abortion and aids future cross-breeding efforts in jujube.

The paper deals with a non-linear barotropic vorticity equation in a shear flow, the model is applied to get the non-linear Rossby solitary wave with the effects of topography and other external forcing. Basing on the perturbation method, the variable coefficient KdV equation is derived for Rossby waves. The periodic-like solution for the equation is obtained with the help of Jacobi elliptic functions, the solitary solutions can also be obtained in the limit case. The analysis indicates that the wave amplitude and velocity will be related to the topography effect. It is also shown that the external forcing plays an important role in evolution of the waves.

Clear cell renal cell carcinoma (ccRCC) is one of the most lethal urological malignancies with high tumor heterogeneity, and reliable biomarkers are still needed for its diagnosis and prognosis. WEE family kinases function as key regulators of the G2/M transition, have essential roles in maintaining cellular genomic stability and have the potential to be promising therapeutic targets in various tumors. However, the roles of WEE family kinases in ccRCC remain undetermined. In the present study, we first explored multiple public datasets and found that PKMYT1 was up-regulated in both RCC tumors and cell lines. Expression levels of PKMYT1 were highly associated with pathological stage and grade. Kaplan-Meier curves showed that high PKMYT1 expression was associated with lower overall survival and disease-free survival. Receiver operating characteristic curves revealed that the expression of PKMYT1 could better distinguish ccRCC from normal samples. Functional enrichment analysis demonstrated that cell cycle- related pathways and epithelial to mesenchymal transition (EMT) might be potential mechanisms of PKMYT1 in ccRCC tumorigenesis. Moreover, knockdown of PKMYT1 in vitro attenuated the proliferation, migration and invasion of RCC cell lines, promoted cell apoptosis and prevented the EMT phenotype in vitro. In conclusion, our study demonstrated that PKMYT1 has the potential to act as a diagnostic and prognostic biomarker for RCC patients. Targeting PKMYT1 may be considered as a new potential therapeutic method and direction in RCCs.

ObjectivesSeveral COVID-19 vaccines list “uncontrolled epilepsy” as a contraindication for vaccination. This consequently restricts vaccination against COVID-19 in patients with epilepsy (PWE). However, there is no strong evidence that COVID-19 vaccination can exacerbate conditions in PWE. This study aims to determine the impact of COVID-19 vaccination on PWE.MethodsPWE were prospectively recruited from 25 epilepsy centers. We recorded the seizure frequency at three time periods (one month before the first vaccination and one month after the first and second vaccinations). A generalized linear mixed-effects model (GLMM) was used for analysis, and the adjusted incidence rate ratio (AIRR) with 95% CI was presented and interpreted accordingly.ResultsOverall, 859 PWE were included in the analysis. Thirty-one (3.6%) and 35 (4.1%) patients were found to have increased seizure frequency after the two doses, respectively. Age had an interaction with time. The seizure frequency in adults decreased by 81% after the first dose (AIRR=0.19, 95% CI:0.11–0.34) and 85% after the second dose (AIRR=0.16, 95% CI:0.08–0.30). In juveniles (DiscussionThe inactivated COVID-19 vaccine does not significantly increase seizure frequency in PWE. The limitations of vaccination in PWE should focus on aspects other than control status. Juvenile PWE should be of greater concern after vaccination because they have lower safety. Finally, PWE should not reduce the dosage of anti-seizure medication during the peri-vaccination period.

The influence of perfectionism and statistics anxiety on academic performance (AP) in statistics courses was investigated using a multidimensional perfectionism scale and a statistics anxiety rating scale. For perfectionism, the factor of personal standards (PS) had a significant direct positive effect on AP, while the factor of parental expectations (PE) was significantly negatively correlated with AP. Other factors (concern over mistakes, organization, and doubts about actions) did not significantly influence AP. For statistics anxiety, the two factors (test and class anxiety and computation self-concept) significantly impaired AP. These results indicated a need for innovation in classroom instruction and the reform of statistics course content and presentation to reduce statistics anxiety and improve PS. There is also a need to ensure that students better internalize PE and to revise instructional design techniques to enhance students’ independent learning ability.

Two isostructural tetranuclear lanthanide clusters named [Ln4(L)4(CH3O)4]·CH3OH (Ln = Gd(III) for 1, Dy(III) for 2, H2L = N′-(2-hydroxy-3-methoxybenzylidene)-6-(hydroxymethyl) picolinohydrazide) were successfully isolated by using a polydentate Schiff based ligand and Ln(III) nitrate salts. The structures of 1 and 2 were characterized by X-ray structural analyses, they are held by four double deprotonated ligands L2−. In them all the lanthanide ions are eight-coordinated and distributed over four vertices of a parallelogram, presenting a Ln4 cluster with a strict [2 × 2] square grid pattern. The details of magnetic analysis show that 1 displays weak anti-ferromagnetic exchange between neighboring Gd(III) ions through carboxylate oxygen and methanol oxygen ligand atoms. Furthermore, 1 exhibits significant magnetocaloric effect with the maximum entropy change –ΔSm value of 28.5 J/(kg·K) for ΔH = 7.0 T at 2.0 K. For compound 2, remarkable slow magnetic relaxation behaviors are observed in the presence of zero magnetic field with τ0 = 1.02 × 10−6 s and energy barrier ΔE/kB = 43.24 K.

Tribasic zinc sulfate (TBZ) is insoluble in water and chemically less active than zinc sulfate, making it more suitable to be used in pig diet. To investigate the effects of TBZ on the growth performance, gut morphology, and zinc transporter expression levels, we performed a single-factor experiment and 168 pigs were allocated to three groups with seven pens per treatment. Pigs were either fed a basal diet without zinc supplementation (control group), or a basal diet supplemented with TBZ at 100 mg/kg diet (LTBZ group) or 1000 mg/kg diet (HTBZ group). We found that daily weight gain and feed intake were higher in the LTBZ group than in the HTBZ and control groups. The pigs in the LTBZ group had a higher villus height and villus height/crypt depth ratio when compared with other pigs. Moreover, the pigs in the LTBZ group exhibited higher mRNA expression levels of solute carrier family 39 and lower expression levels of solute carrier family 30 than those fed the HTBZ-supplemented diet. Together, these results indicate that TBZ may potentially be used as a dietary zinc source for young growing pigs and that dietary supplementation with LTBZ benefits growth performance and gut morphology.

This research constructed a relationship model between human capital, social capital, and the employability of college students. With two moderating variables introduced, the perception reduction of employment opportunities under the COVID-19 epidemic and future career clarity, this research studied the direct impact of human capital and social capital on the employability of college students and boundary conditions. Research data from 810 employed Chinese college graduates shows that both human capital and social capital have a positive and significant impact on the employability; the perception reduction of employment opportunities under the COVID-19 epidemic negatively regulates the relationship between human capital and the employability of college students; the future career clarity positively regulates the relationship between human capital and the employability of college students; the perception reduction of employment opportunities under COVID-19 epidemic and the future career clarity jointly regulate the relationship between human capital, social capital and the employability of college students. These conclusions enrich the relevant theoretical and practical research on the employability of college students under the COVID-19 epidemic.

Background: Previous studies have suggested that proton pump inhibitors could impair the antiplatelet effect of clopidogrel. It is uncertain whether ilaprazole affects the antiplatelet effect of clopidogrel. This study aimed to determine the drug-drug interaction between ilaprazole and clopidogrel.Methods: A randomized crossover trial of 40 healthy subjects was performed. Clopidogrel was administered alone or in combination with ilaprazole for 7 days. The maximal platelet aggregation (MPA) to 5 μmol/L adenosine diphosphate was measured by light transmission aggregometry and the platelet reactivity index (PRI) was determined by vasodilator-stimulated phosphoprotein P2Y12 assay. High on-treatment platelet reactivity (HOPR) was defined as a MPA of >40%. The inhibition of platelet aggregation (IPA) and PRI in the two phases were compared between two regimens after the last dosing.Results: IPA was comparable between the two regimens at 0, 10 and 24 h (p > 0.05), but higher at 4 h in the clopidogrel alone regimen compared with that in the combined treatment regimen (75.66 ± 18.44% vs. 70.18 ± 17.67%, p = 0.031). The inhibition of PRI was comparable between the two regimens at 0 and 24 h. There were no significant differences in the area under the time-IPA% curve (AUC) or the incidence of HOPR at all time-points between the two regimens.Conclusion: In healthy subjects, ilaprazole has limited effect on the pharmacodynamics of clopidogrel and it may not be clinically relevant.Clinical Trial Registration: [www.chictr.org.cn], identifier [ChiCTR2000031482].

Background As well as having a higher genetic vulnerability to psychiatric problems, children of a parent with schizophrenia suffer a significantly poorer quality of life than those with healthy parents. In mental healthcare settings, the well-being of these children is still overlooked. It is crucial to develop child-centered interventions for them. This scoping review focuses specifically on children of a parent with schizophrenia to identify the likely impacts on their life and development, the factors and strategies that may alleviate negative impacts, and available interventions. Methods We applied a systematic approach to search the following databases: PsycINFO, MEDLINE, Embase, Google Scholar, CNKI and CEPS to identify relevant English and Chinese publications focusing on children. Quality assessments of quantitative and qualitative studies were undertaken, using the Downs and Black instrument and the CASP Checklist respectively. Results After screening, thirty-three studies were included for review. The existing evidence indicates that children of a parent with schizophrenia experience multiple deficits. Although various factors have been identified that can potentially alleviate their negative experiences, few are well supported with solid empirical evidence that confirm causal effects. The needs of these children are commonly neglected: little professional support has been provided, and the usefulness of the available support has yet to be determined. Conclusions Based on the review, we argue that effective means should be implemented so that children of a parent with schizophrenia needing help can be identified and experts can overcome barriers to providing help. The potential modifiable factors that can alleviate the negative impacts of having a parent with schizophrenia on youngsters need to be tested and confirmed. Interventions should be evidence-based, schizophrenia-specific, and child-centered.

Gastrodia elata Blume was used to treat stroke and headaches caused by “Feng” for thousands of years. The present study has shown a significant effect of G. elata Blume in improving cerebral ischemia–reperfusion injury (CIRI). However, the mechanism of G. elata Blume in improving CIRI by regulating the intestinal flora has not been reported until now. This research aimed to comprehensively evaluate the mechanism of G. elata Blume in CIRI based on fecal metabolomics and 16S rDNA sequencing. The rat model with CIRI was created based on the Zea Longa method. Enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA) was used to monitor the inflammatory factors in rat serum. Damages of brain tissues were observed using hematoxylin and eosin (H&E) staining. Cerebral infarction was observed by 2,3,5-triphenyltetrazolium chloride (TTC) staining. The balance of intestinal flora in cecal contents of rats was evaluated by high-throughput sequencing. Changes of metabolites in the intestinal flora were evaluated by fecal metabolomics through Ultra high performance liquid chromatography-orbitrap exploris-mass spectrometer (UHPLC-OE-MS). The area of brain necrosis, cerebral infarction volume, and the contents of inflammatory factors in CIRI rats can be effectively reduced after oral administration of G. elata Blume. CIRI can cause disturbances in the intestinal flora and its associated metabolites. G. elata Blume can significantly regulate the composition of the intestinal microflora. It reversed CIRI-induced changes in the levels of multiple intestinal bacteria, including Prevotellaceae, Coriobacteriaceae; Prevotella, Gamma proteobacteria unclassified, Barnesiella, Escherichia, Shigella; uncultured Shigella sp., Flavonifractor sp., Escherichia sp. enrichment culture clone NBAR004, Veillonella sp. R-32, and Lactobacillus intestinalis. The levels of metabolites in cecal contents were disturbed in rats with CIRI, including amino acid, purine, and sphingolipid metabolism. The changes in the level of biomarkers in amino acid metabolism induced by CIRI were significantly reversed after treatment with G. elata Blume. Correlation studies show that Prevotellaceae was significantly positively correlated with interleukin (IL)-6, and L. intestinalis and L-phenylalanine were negatively interrelated to IL-1β. Beta-glycerophosphoric acid was significantly negatively interrelated to high-sensitivity C-reactive protein (hs-CRP). There were significantly negative correlations between L-phenylalanine and L. intestinalis, beta-glycerophosphoric acid and Prevotellaceae. G. elata Blume protected against CIRI, which may be related to improved intestinal microflora composition and metabolism, resulting in decreased inflammation.

During carbon fiber–reinforced plastic (CFRP) hole-making, exit damages such as burrs and delamination frequently occur. Some hole-making technologies are invented to cater to the demands of the high hole quality for CFRP laminates. To adequately eliminate the process-induced damages, a novel dill-milling tool is designed, and a series of drill-milling experiments are conducted on CFRP by using this novel drill-milling tool. Theoretical and experimental analyses of the drill-milling process and the performance of the novel drill-milling have been conducted. The result indicates that compared with the drilling process, using the new drill-milling process, the burrs can be thoroughly removed and the delamination can be reduced significantly, even removed. The changes of the hole quality and the exit damages are different with the variations of the helical milling parameters. Therefore, by comprehensive consideration, proper helical milling parameters should be chosen adequately. Furthermore, in theory, the right-handed helix angles βy should be raised, which is favorable for improving the hole accuracy and reducing the exit damages.

ObjectiveTo investigate the role of pre-treatment magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) radiomics for the preoperative prediction of lymph node (LN) metastasis in patients with hypopharyngeal squamous cell carcinoma (HPSCC).MethodsA total of 155 patients with HPSCC were eligibly enrolled from single institution. Radiomics features were extracted from contrast-enhanced axial T-1 weighted (CE-T1WI) sequence. The most relevant features of LN metastasis were selected by the least absolute shrinkage and selection operator (LASSO) method. Univariate and multivariate logistic regression analysis was adopted to determine the independent clinical risk factors. Three models were constructed to predict the LN metastasis status: one using radiomics only, one using clinical factors only, and the other one combined radiomics and clinical factors. Receiver operating characteristic (ROC) curves and calibration curve were used to evaluate the discrimination and the accuracy of the models, respectively. The performances were tested by an internal validation cohort (n=47). The clinical utility of the models was assessed by decision curve analysis.ResultsThe nomogram consisted of radiomics scores and the MRI-reported LN status showed satisfactory discrimination in the training and validation cohorts with AUCs of 0.906 (95% CI, 0.840 to 0.972) and 0.853 (95% CI, 0.739 to 0.966), respectively. The nomogram, i.e., the combined model, outperformed the radiomics and MRI-reported LN status in both discrimination and clinical usefulness.ConclusionsThe MRI-based radiomics nomogram holds promise for individual and non-invasive prediction of LN metastasis in patients with HPSCC.

Water scarcity is relative and variable concept that can occur at any level of supply and demand. It is also a social construct, which is linked to the intervention in the water cycle and changes over time as a result of natural hydrological change. It is more severe when water acts as a backbone in economic policies, planning and management methods. Water scarcity can be expected to increase with most forms of economic development, but, if properly identified, many of its causes can be expected and avoided or mitigated. However, the limited irrigation management is considered a very important issue in the agricultural scope. Therefore, in this study, the relationship between water, crop production, photosynthesis, crop transpiration, crop growth, crop yields and water use efficiency have been discussed under limited irrigation conditions. However, the crops have some ability to adapt and resist against limited irrigation. Hence, under high temperate conditions, this is a shortage of water and photosynthesis is decreased with a pore (stoma) restraining. At the same time, the evapotranspiration reaches to the utmost value and the water use efficiency rises because of optimal monitoring of leaf pore (stoma). Therefore, the modality which is the reduction of the risks and improving industrial control in incomplete irrigation are the chief constraints of providing irrigation water in the future, which leads to increased crop production and ultimately providing a provision of food security.

Hepatitis B surface antigen (HBsAg) loss and seroconversion are considered as an end point of a functional cure. Therefore, it is crucial to find new agents which could efficiently decrease HBsAg. Traditional herbal plants have been considered as an important source of new hepatitis B drugs development for their extensive use in antimicrobial and anti-inflammation. In this study, Peristrophe japonica, which could remarkably reduce HBsAg in the supernatant of HepG2.2.15 cells, was screened out for further extraction. Here, an active ethyl acetate fraction of Peristrophe japonica containing 34 sub-fractions was extracted. Subsequently, the monomeric compound Ciliatoside A was isolated and identified as a potential antiviral reagent with low cytotoxicity from Fraction 30. Ciliatoside A exhibited strong inhibition on intracellular and circulating HBsAg and HBV RNAs in HBV-infected cells and an HBV recombinant-cccDNA mouse model. The mechanistic study revealed that Ciliatoside A exhibited a potent anti-HBV effect through inducing autophagy-lysosomal pathway to autophagic degradation of HBc by activating AMPK-ULK1 axis and inhibiting mTOR activation. In summary, we have identified a novel antiviral compound Ciliatoside A isolated from Peristrophe japonica. This study may provide important direction and new ideas for the discovery of hepatitis B cure drugs.

Codonopsis pilosula has been used in traditional Chinese medicine for hundreds of years, where it has been used to treat anaemia, fatigue, a weak spleen, and stomach problems, among other ailments. The roots of C. pilosula are considered medicinal, while the aerial parts are always directly discarded after harvest in autumn or winter. Some studies have shown that the stems and leaves of C. pilosula also contain a variety of active metabolites, including saponins, flavonoids, terpenoids, and polysaccharides. To efficiently utilise resources, waste products from C. pilosula leaves and stems were analysed by untargeted metabolomics and chemometrics. A total of 1508 metabolites were detected and annotated, of which 463 were identified as differentially expressed metabolites (DEMs). These DEMs were grouped into classes, such as carboxylic acids and derivatives, steroids, organic oxygen compounds, fatty acyls, prenol lipids, and flavonoids. Metabolic profiling of C. pilosula tissues showed that the contents of polyacetylenes, polyenes, flavonoids, some alkaloids, steroids, terpenoids, and organic acids were higher in stems and leaves, whereas the contents of the main lignans and some alkaloids were more enriched in roots. Moreover, C. pilosula stems and leaves also contained a lobetyolin, syringin and atractylenolide III, which were detected by LC-MS/MS and HPLC-UV. The extracts of C. pilosula aerial parts also showed stronger antioxidant properties than roots. C. pilosula stems and leaves were rich in active ingredients and might have great value for development and utilisation.
