The mite Otodectes cynotis is distributed worldwide and parasitism the ear canals of cats and dogs, causing otitis externa. Molecular biology of O. cynotis is poorly understood, with only a few genes being deposited in public databases. In the present study, we aimed to perform transcriptome analysis of O. cynotis using SMRT and Illumina sequencing of RNA from different development stages. SMRT-Seq of O. cynotis demonstrated 5,431 final transcripts, including 406 long non-coding RNAs and 2,698 differentially expressed genes (DEGs), including 1,357 up-regulated genes and 1,341 down-regulated genes between adult mites and nymph/larva. A total of 397 putative allergen genes were detected, 231 of which were DEGs. Among them, 77 were homologous of known mite allergens. The expression level of allergen genes hints at the pathogenicity of mites in different life stages, and the protein interaction network analysis could identify possible key genes in the pathogenic mechanism. Intriguingly, Gene Ontology analysis showed that most of the (DEGs) were associated with the terms hydrolase activity and proteolysis. Kyoto Encyclopedia of genes and genomes (KEGG) analysis identified drug metabolism-cytochrome P450 signal pathway as one of the top pathways. SMRT-Seq of the full-length transcriptome of O. cynotis was performed first, and a valuable resource was acquired through the combination analysis with the Illumina sequencing data. The results of our analyses provide new information for further research into Otodectes cynotis.

Usually, uranyl (UO22+) is competitively adsorbed by coexisting potentially toxic metal ions (Xn+: Rb+, Sr2+, Cr3+, Mn2+, Ni2+, Zn2+, Cd2+) that limit the adsorbent application. Here, the core–shell MFe2O4–TiO2 (M = Mn, Fe, Zn, Co, or Ni) nanoparticles were synthesized on K-montmorillonite (MMT) edge sites and assessed as new selective adsorbents. The results revealed that UO22+ and Xn+ were simultaneously adsorbed on the TiO2(101) surfaces, MFe2O4(111)–TiO2(101)/MMT(100)–MFe2O4(111) interfaces, and MMT inner layers. Specifically, the Xn+ ions were mainly adsorbed on the TiO2(101) surfaces. We note that, according to Freundlich models, UO22+ and Cr3+ were selectively adsorbed on the MFe2O4(111)–TiO2(101) interface. The high adsorption capacity of UO22+ was 109.11 mg g–1 in the MMT–Fe3O4(111)–TiO2(101) interface. The interface electron gases transferred from MMT(100)–MFe2O4(111) to MFe2O4(111)–TiO2(101) prevent the Cr3+ oxidation–reduction reaction and further adsorption. Water evaporation driven by solar energy is an efficient, renewable, and environmentally friendly method to purify polluted or saline water. However, current solar-powered evaporation systems generally suffer from the poor stability, high materials cost, and complex fabrication processes. In this work, an inexpensive and versatile photothermal membrane (PTM) is prepared with basalt-fibers, which are prepared from natural basalt and synthesized by fiber forming and annealing. Owing to the special chemical composition and physical structure, the basalt-fiber PTM is very robust and corrosion resistant in extreme environments such as a strong acid, organic solvent, and alkali. The water evaporation processes are investigated and the floating-with-insulator mode shows the lowest heat dissipation and highest water evaporation rate. The basalt-fiber fabric is optimized by carbonization and a vaporization rate of 1.50 kg·m−2·h−1 and energy utilization efficiency of 82.5% are achieved for evaporation of pure water. The basalt-fiber PTM can be hand washed at least 30 times without efficiency deterioration and the process can be readily scaled up to address commercial needs.

The ground surface settlement is inevitable during shield tunneling, due to the over excavation by shield machine and the annular gap between the shield and surrounding soils (i.e., shield-out space). The shield-out space will become a part of the shield-end space during the shield tunneling, which requires that the filling materials is temporarily filled and cannot hinder the movement of the shield machine. In this paper, the clay shock was introduced, which is a two-component grouting material being promoted for the treatment of shield-out space. The viscosity of component A, mechanical strength, and microstructure of the clay shock were studied by a series of laboratory tests. The test results indicate that the final viscosity of component A is always in a range from 30 to 65 Pa·s. The viscosity of component A could be reduced by dispersant, while increased by stabilizer and thickener. The unconfined compressive strength (UCS) of the clay shock was weakened by dispersant, stabilizer, thickener, water and sodium silicate. The chemical reaction between sodium silicate and bentonite was more complete with the increment of water content, showing that the mass ratio of sodium silicate should be reduced for the high water content in practice.

This paper presents a closed dual-loop controller based on pole-assignment for single-phase high-frequency (HF) link inverter. It is not difficult for the controller to design the controlled parameters using the method. The controller consists of the inner current loop and the outer voltage loop. To improve overall performance of the system, it is adopted that the control method combined the instantaneous inductance current control with the forward compensation control of the disturbing loads. The controller has the function to limit load current, compared with the instantaneous voltage single-loop controller. Simulation results are presented for the closed loop system under linear and nonlinear loads. It is shown that the control method provides good dynamic response with low harmonic distortion and nice static characteristics, even under full-bridge rectifier loads.

A direct type multilevel current source inverter (CSI) and its closed-loop strategy are studied in this paper. In the three phase static symmetric axes (a, b, c), parameters on the AC side of the three phase five-level CSI are time-variant AC variables, which is a difficult point in the designing of control system. So a direct current control method based on the synchronous rotational axes (d, q, 0) is proposed. This strategy transforms AC variables in the three-phase static symmetric axes into direct values in the synchronous rotational axes (d, q, 0), so the problem of controlling the AC variables is transformed into adjusting the direct values. This control strategy has little influence over changes of system parameter, it suit well with linear system and nonlinear system. Simulations are carried out with software PSIM to confirm feasibility of the proposed control method.
