Bu makalede, Kur’an’dakihac menâsikininnass-olgu, vahiy-vakıa diyalektiği içinde okunması ve bu menâsikin İslâm öncesi câhiliyeArap ve antropolojik temellerinin ortaya konulmasısuretiyle, Kur’an’ı,kendi döneminin dinamik kültürü içinde anlama metodolojisine katkı sunulması hedeflenmiştir. Kur’an’a yansımış olan Hac tasavvur ve teâmüllerinin ibdâ‘ ve îcât mahiyetinde silbaştan hususlar olup-olmadığı problemi burada irdelenmeye çalışılmıştır. Aynı şekilde tenzihatçı vetakdisatçı,bir o kadar apolojik bir edayla İslâm âlimlerininin büyük bir çoğunluğu tarafından metafizik temellere yani Hz. İbrahim ve Hz. Âdem’e oradan da TanrısalRuh’a (Cebrâîl) ircâ‘edilen (dayandırılan) hac menâsikinin bu ircâ‘sının, vakıaya mutabık ve muvafık olup-olmadığı da tartışılmıştır. Klasik kaynaklardan câhiliyeyeilişkin verileri elde etme, bu verilerin analizlerini yaparak bir senteze varmaşeklinde takip edilen yöntem neticesinde,Kur’an’ın hac menâsikinin, şirk unsurlarındanayıklanmış ve tevhitle mayalanmış, İslâm öncesi Hicazbölgesi Arap ve diğer kadîm toplumlarınilah evleri ritüellerinin bir devamı niteliğinde olduğuanlaşılmıştır.Câhiliye Araplarındinî tasavvurları, tahayyülleri ve aynı zamanda ritüelleri, âdât ve tekâlitlerianlaşılmadan bu topluma hitaben inmiş olan Kur’an’ın doğru anlaşılmasında ciddisorunların ortaya çıkacağı kaçınılmazdır. Şöyle ki Kur’an’da da “Arabî birKur’an”, “Arabî bir hüküm”, “Arabî bir lisân” terkipleriyle ifade edildiğiüzere Allah Teâlâ, yedinci yüzyıl Hicaz bölgesi Arapların tasavvur vetekâlitlerini esas alarak onların dil ve kültür kalıplarında onlara hitapetmiştir. Bu nedenle Kur’an’ı içinde vücut bulduğu bu sosyo-kültürelgerçeklikten soyutlayarak, kasd-ı ilahiyi istinbât ve istihrâç etmede, ikikapak arasına sıkışmış bir metin olarak masa başında gerçekleştirilecek her türokuma ve anlama eyleminin ne kadar gayret edersek edelim hiç şüphesiz sadraşifa vermeyeceği bir gerçekliktir.O bakımdan biz buçalışmada Kur’an’ın, telbiye, ihram, Arafat, Müzdelife ve Mina vakfeleri,şeytan taşlama, Hacer-i Esved’i selamlama (istilâm), tavaf, sa’y, zemzem suyuile teberrük, hedy kurbanı, halk ve taksiri (saçı kesme ve kısaltma) içinealan, namaz ve oruç gibi, Kur’an’ın en temel ibadetleri arasında yer alan Hacve Umre ibadetini, vahyin doğup büyüdüğü tarih sahnesinde İslâm’a yakın son ikiyüz yılı kapsayan ikinci câhiliye dönemi Arapların dinî tahayyül, tasavvur,âdât ve tekâlit havzasında okumaya ve anlamaya çalıştık. Her ne kadar Hz.Muhammed’i ve onun ümmetini tazîz ve tebcîl adına takdisatçı ve tenzihatçı vebir okadar da apolojik bir dil ile İslâm âlimlerinin büyük bir çoğunluğutarafından, hac menâsiki metafizik temellere yani Hz. İsmail’e, İbrahim’e hattaAdem’e oradan da Cebrâil’e ircâ‘ edilmiş ve bunlardan tevarüs eden bir ibadetolduğu hipotezi ileri sürülmüş olsa da biz, burada Hac/Umre menâsikiningerçekten vahiy orijinli mi yoksa Sami, İbrani ve Arap kültür mirası mı olduğuproblemini tartıştık. Bu ritüellerin câhiliye Arapları yahut daha kadîmtoplumlarca maruf olup-olmadığını, onların dinî-içtimaî âdât ve tekâlitleri arasındayer alıp almadığı sorununu irdelemeye, tayin ve tespit etmeye çalıştık.Şunu da ifade etmekgerekir ki câhiliye Arapların hac ritüelleriyle ile ilgili müstakil birçalışmaya henüz rastlamış değiliz. Bununla beraber, gerek kadîm kaynaklardagerekse de çağımız kitap, makale ve sempozyum çalışmalarında câhiliyedeibadetler başlığı altında bu konuya yer yer temas edilmiştir. Nevar ki bu türçalışmalarda Kureyş’in cahiliyedeki Hac ve Umre ibadetlerine zaman zaman atıfyapılmış olsa da vahiy-vakıa, nass-olgu ilişkisi bağlamında derinlemesine kaydadeğer analitik bir araştırma yapıldığını söylemek oldukça zordur. O bakımdan bumakale, İslâm’a bitişik câhiliye dönemi Hicaz bölgesi Arapların Hac tasavvur veteamüllerini etraflıca ele almış, bunlara ilişkin rivayetleri toplamış olmak veKur’an’ın bu ritüellerini vücut bulduğu tarih ve kültür havzasında vahiy-vakıa,nass-olgu, hitap-muhatap diyalektiği içinde eş zamanlı okumakla özgün birdeğere sahip olduğu ve bu alanda bir boşluğu dolduracağı, kanaatindeyiz. İşteKur’an’da yer alan Hac menâsikinin ibdâ‘ ve icât mahiyetinde İslâm’la ortayaçıkan ritüeller olup-olmadığı, geleneğimizde câhiliyede var olup da Kur’an’ayansımış her şeyi Hz. İbrahim ve İsmail’e hatta Adem’e ircâ‘ etmenin, malumArap ananesinin bir ürünü mü yoksa gerçekten vahyin (Kur’an’ın) “mutabakâtunli’l-vâki‘” yani Arap olgusallığına, Arap vakıasına mutabık ve muvafık hükümlerbina etmesinin bir mahsülü mü olduğu sorununu irdelediğimiz bu araştırmaneticesinde şu sonuçlara ulaşılmıştır.Kur’an’ın Hac veUmre menâsikinin zannedildiği gibi, Kur’an’ın, daha genel bir ifadeyle İslâm’ınibdâ‘ ve îcâd mahiyetinde inşa ettiği hususlar olmadığı, câhiliye dönemindeKureyş’in gerekse de diğer Arapların kısmı azamının takdis ve ta‘zim ettiğisemboller arasında yer aldığı müşahede edilmiştir. Aynı zamanda bu çalışmada,Kur’an’ın bir boşlukta vücût bulmadığı ve bir boşluğa hitap etmediği, o günküArapların dinî tasavvur, tahayyül ve teamülleri çerçevesinde forma büründüğü,müfessirlerin ifade ettiği gibi Allah’ın onların güzel ve hoş gördükleri (bimâ‘arafûhu ve bimâ ehsenûhu) şeylerle onlara hitap ettiği Hac ve Umre menâsikiözelinde bir bakıma gözler önüne serilmiştir. Yine bu çalışmada, geleneğimizdeKur’an’a yansımış her şeyi İbrahim ve İsmail’e ircâ‘ etmenin, İslâm’ı takdis,ta‘zim, tebcîl etmenin, onu câhiliyeden tenzih etme tarzında ortaya çıkanapolojik bir anlayışın ürünü olduğu, aslında İslâm öncesi Sami (İbrani, Arap)adât ve tekâlidinden tevarüs edegelen bu ritüellerin Kur’an’da yer almasının,gerçekte vahyin (Kur’an’ın) “mutabakâtun li’l-vâki’” yani vakıayamutabık ve muvafık bir tarzda nazil olmasının bir başka ifadeyle yedinci yüzyılArap olgusallığı ve vakıasını hesaba katmasının bir sonucu olduğu ortayakonulmuştur.Kısaca bugün İslâmdünyasında gerek Hac aylarında gerekse de vesair zamanlarda, yüksek sesleTanrıya seslenme (telbiye), ilah evleri mabet ritüellerine özgü günahsızelbiselere bürünme (ihram), Arafat, Müzdelife, Mina gibi dağ kült ve ayinleri(vakfe), şeytan taşlama (ramyü’l-cimâr), kutsal taş Hacer-i Esved’i selamlama(istilâm), köşegenli ilah evinin etrafında dönme (tavaf), mukaddes Safa veMerve kayaları arasında yürüme (sa’y), İlah evi sularını (zemzem)i kutsama veonunla kutsanma (teberrük), İlah evine kurban (hedy) takdimi ve saçı kesipkısaltmak (halk ve taksir) gibi bir kısmına Kur’an’ın atıf yaptığı buritüellerin, câhiliye Arapların meçhulü olmadığı, başka bir deyişle Kur’an’ın,silbaştan ibdâ‘ ve îcât mahiyetinde mukaddes kıldığı yeni bir teşri‘ olmadığı,bu ayinlerin câhiliye dönemi Kureyş teamüllerinde köklerinin var olduğu, hattadaha kadîm toplumlara İbranilere, İsrailoğullarına kadar uzandığı görülmüştür.Dolayısıyla İslâm’ın maslahat ve makasıdı, tevhid öğretisi ve temel ilkeleriyleçelişip de iptal edilenler hariç tutulursa, tashih, tağyir ve tebdilleriylebirlikte hem Hz. Peygamber’in getirdiği hem de Kur’an’ın yer yer resmettiğitasavvur ve teamüllerin, itikat ve ibadetlerin, câhiliye dönemi Arap toplumuvakıasına, onlarda yaygın olan Allah’a yakınlaşma âdât ve geleneklerine mutabıkve muvafık şeyler olduğu, Allah’ın onların anladıkları, bildikleri, tecrübe vetatbik edegeldikleri şeylerle onlara hitap ettiği sonucuna varılmıştır., In this article, thepurpose is to contribute to the methodologyin understanding the Qurʾān within its dynamic culture in its period byinterpreting the ḥajj ritual in the Qurʾān with its being divinetext-phenomenon and revelation-reality dialectics and by introducingpre-Islamic jāhiliyyā Arab and anthropological foundations of these rituals. Theissue of whether the ḥajj imagination and customaries mentioned in the Qurʾān are “initial” and “invention”, which arere-organized from the initial stage, is investigated in this study. Similarly,the issue of whether the ḥajj is based on metaphysical bases i.e. to Abrahamand Adam, and then, to Holy Spirit (the Angel Gabriel) by the majority ofIslamic scholars in a purifyingand glorifying, and apologicalmanner being in agreement with the reality or not is also examined in thestudy. As a result of the method in which the data collection is made fromclassical sources on jāhiliyyā, and the analyses of these data are made toreach a synthesis, it is understood that the concept of ḥajj in the Qurʾān ispurified from polytheist elements andmerged with the unity of God, and to be a continuation of the rituals of thehouses of God, pre-Islamic Arabs and other ancient civilizations in the HejazRegion. It is inevitable that serious problems will emerge inunderstanding the Qurʾān in an accurate manner without understanding thereligious imaginations, apprehensions, and the rituals, customs and traditionsof the Arabs in Jāhiliyyā period. In actual fact, as it is mentioned in theQurʾān with the terms “An Arabic Qurʾān”, “An Arabic judgment”, “An Arabiclanguage”, Allah addressed the Arabs in their language and cultural structuresby considering their imaginations and traditions in seventh century around theHijaz area. For this reason, it is an undeniable fact that, to discover andreveal the divine desire, the act of reading and understanding the Qurʾān bysitting around a table as a text limited between two covers of a book afterabstracting it from the socio-culture reality in which it was revealed will notyield any good. In this respect, in this study, we tried to read andunderstand the Ḥajj and Umrahworships, which are among the most primary principles of Islam like the salāt and fasting, and which include talbiya,ihrām, Arafāt, Muzdalifah and Mina waqfahs,stoning the devil, greeting the Hajaral-Aswad (istilām), tawāf, sa’y, blessing with the water zam-zam,hedy sacrifice, halqand taqsir (cutting and shorteningthe hair) mentioned in the Qurʾān, in the context of the historical scene inwhich the revelations were born and spread with respect to the religiousimaginations, apprehensions, customs and traditions of the Arabs in the SecondPeriod of Jāhiliyyā, which lasted for two centuries and which was close to theIslamic period. No matter the majority of the Islamic scholars associated the Ḥajjworship with metaphysical basics, with Ismael, Abraham, and even with Adam andGabriel, and claimed that this worship was inherited from them in the name ofglorifying Mohammad (pbuh) and his Ummah with a blessing and apologicallanguage; here, we have discussed the problem of whether the Ḥajj/Umrah worships reallyoriginated from the revelations or were a cultural heritage from the Samis,Hebrews or Arabs. We have tried to investigate, examine and determine whetherthese rituals were known by the Arabs in Jāhiliyyā period or by more ancientcommunities, and whether they were included among the religious-social customsand traditions of these ancient societies. It must also be mentioned that we have not yetobserved any individual studies investigating the Ḥajj ritual of the Arabs inJāhiliyyā Period. However, this topic has been mentioned in ancient scripturesand also in books, articles and symposiums under the title “Worships in Jāhiliyyā” in our presentday. But in these studies, and works, although sometimes it has been referredto the Ḥajj and Umrah worships of Quraysh during Jāhiliyyā Period, it isextremely difficult to say that there is in-depth an analytical, worthy studymentioning here in the context of revelation-reality, text-case relationship.In this respect, this paper has dealt with the Ḥajj imaginations and practicesof the Arabs in Hejaz Area in the Jāhiliyyā Period, which is adjacent to theIslamic Period and collected the narrations about these topics, and examinedthe rituals of the Qurʾān in detail within the dialectics ofrevelation-reality, text-case and address-addressee bases in a simultaneousmanner, and within the historical and cultural context, we believe that it has a unique value and willfill in the gaps in this field in the literature. As a result of the study in which we investigatedwhether the Ḥajj ritual mentioned in the Qurʾān was a ritual that emerged withIslam as an innovation or invention or whether referring everything mentioned in the Qurʾān and which existedin the Jāhiliyyā Period to Abraham, Ishmael and even to Adam was a result ofwell-known Arabian tradition or whether it was really a product of “mutābakātun li’l-wāqi‘” i.e. Arabianfactivity that agreed and fit with the Arabian Phenomenon, the followingconclusions have been made.It has been determined that Ḥajj and Umrah rituals arenot among the topics that were invented as an innovation by the Qurʾān, or in abroader sense, by Islām as it is presumed; and these rituals were among thesymbols respected and glorified by the Quraysh and the majority of the Arabs inJāhiliyyā Period. Meanwhile, it has also been revealed in this study that theQurʾān was not embodied in a void and did not address void spaces, but it wasembodied around the imaginations and apprehensions of the Arabs in those times,and as the interpreters mention, Allah addressed them in a nice and pleasantmanner i.e. with “bimā ‘arafūhu ve bimāehsenūhu” specifically in Ḥajjand Umrah. Again, in this study, it has also been determined that referringeverything reflected in the Qurʾān and in our culture to Abraham and Ishmaelwas a product of an apological understanding that emerged in the form ofglorifying, blessing and honoring Islam and purifying it from Jāhiliyyā; and inactual fact, these rituals were inherited from the customs and traditions ofPre-Islamic period Samis (Hebrew, Arab) and were included in the Qurʾān, whichis interpreted as a result of the Qurʾān being revealed “mutābakātunli’l-wâqi‘” i.e. in a way that is in agreement with the reality, in otherwords, these rituals were in agreement with the Arab factivity and reality inseventh century. In brief, in this study, it has been determinedthat the rituals some of which are referred by the Qurʾān, such as addressingGod in a high voice (talbiya),wearing sinless clothes specific to the sanctuaries (ihrām), cults and rituals in mountains like Arafat, Muzdelifah, Mina (waqfah), stone the devil (ramy al-cimār), greeting the holy stoneHajar al-Aswad (istilām), turningaround the cubic house of god (tawāf), walking between the holy Safa andMerve rocks (sa’y), blessing thewater of the house of god (zam-zam)and being blessed with it (tabarruk),sacrifices for the house of god (hady)and cutting and shortening the hair (halqand taqsir), which are performed in Ḥajj period and also in some othertimes in the Islamic world today, were not unknown the Arabs in the JāhiliyyāPeriod; in other words, these rituals were not “invented” as an innovation andwere blessed by the Qurʾān, and the roots of these rituals existed in thepractices of the Quraysh in the Jāhiliyyā Period, they even dated back to moreancient societies like the Hebrews. For this reason, it has been concluded that-except for those that were excluded because of their conflicting status withthe Tawhid Belief and primaryprinciples of Islam and its purpose- the practices, beliefs and worshipsbrought by the Prophet (pbuh) and depicted by the Qurʾān in some versestogether with corrections, changes and transformations were in agreement withthe customs and traditions of the Arabs in Jāhiliyyā Period that were meant tomake people move closer to Allah; and Allah addressed them with the things thatwere known, understood, experienced and practiced by them.
