Cordra is a digital object server that can function as a key infrastructural piece in FAIR DO (findable, accessible, interoperable and reusable digital object) implementations. Cordra manages JSON records and payloads as typed digital objects identified by handles. Cordra is neither a database nor an indexer, but it integrates the two and provides a unified interface. Cordra is intended to support both quick prototyping as well as production systems. For prototyping, Cordra makes it easy to get up and running rapidly with a digital object server. A potential Cordra administrator can download Cordra and very quickly have a server which supports creation, search, and retrieval of digital objects with resolvable identifiers. The server supports Digital Object Interface Protocol (DOIP) and HTTP APIs out of the box, as well as an immediately usable prototype user interface. Cordra saves substantial development time as it comes with ready-made functionality ranging from user authentication and access control to information validation, enrichment, storing, and indexing. By default, Cordra is configured to store objects on the local file system of the machine and use embedded Apache Lucene for indexing. Simply by editing type definitions in Cordra's user interface, the administrator can start changing the behavior of the APIs and user interface in real time for experimentation, including adding custom operations. For production use, Cordra allows intensive extension and customization of the processes underlying the digital object server: how digital objects are stored and indexed, how they are validated and enriched, how users authenticate, when and to whom to give access to objects, and what custom operations can be performed. In production Cordra is run at scale, supporting high reliability and performance; among other options Cordra supports MongoDB and Amazon S3 for storage, and Elasticsearch and Apache Solr for indexing. By definition of the underlying types and operations, Cordra is intended to serve directly as the API backend for a production application. This talk will cover basic Cordra features as well as customization/configuration basics. Examples of current use will be shown, including the use of the Digital Object Interface Protocol (DOIP), for which Cordra serves as a reference implementation. Current users of Cordra include the Derivatives Service Bureau (DSB), which uses Cordra as part of its backend to manage the automated generation of International Securities Identification Numbers (ISINs) for OTC derivatives in the financial services sector; and the British Standard Institute (BSI) whose Identify service for construction product manufacturers aims to assign a Universal Persistent Identification Number (UPIN) "for every product that is specified and incorporated in a building structure". The DSB, Cordra users since 2017, has a production system with over 80 million identified digital objects which receives millions of searches each month. BSI.Identify has a system where Cordra's DOIP interface is directly accessible as the service's public API.

Severe Acute Respiratory Syndrome Coronavirus 2 (SARS-CoV-2) emerged in March 2020 in Italy, leading to the pandemic of coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) that continues to cause high global morbidity and mortality in human populations. Numerous studies have focused on the spread and persistence of the virus in the hospital setting. New scientific evidence shows that SARS-CoV-2 is present in different community environments. Although aerosol is one of the main routes of transmission for SARS-CoV-2, indirect contact through virus-contaminated surfaces could also play a key role. The survival and persistence of SARS-CoV-2 on surfaces appear to be influenced by the characteristics of the material, temperature, and humidity. In this study, we investigated the presence of SARS-CoV-2 RNA on surfaces in 20 supermarkets throughout the Apulia region during the lockdown period. We collected a total of 300 swab samples from various surfaces including supermarket scales, trolley handles, refrigerator and freezer handles, and keyboards. In total, 13 (4.3%) surfaces were positive for SARS-CoV-2 RNA contamination, with shopping trolley handles being the most frequently contaminated. This study showed that contamination in public spaces can occur, so we remark the importance to adopt adequate preventive measures, including environment ventilation, careful surfaces sanitation, hand hygiene, and correct usage of masks, to reduce the likelihood of virus transmission.

Infection control and prevention is critical to delivering safe and high‐quality care to patients undergoing sonographic procedures. In Australia comprehensive standards for reprocessing of ultrasound probes are based on the AS/NZS, TGA and ASUM recommendations. These standards align with the US Centers for Disease Control and Prevention recommendations. However compliance to these guidelines is not ideal and there exists an unmet need for refinement of the guidelines relating to specific factors in clinical sonography. Significant microbiological evidence exists reflecting the increased risk of infection transmission specifically through inadequately reprocessed ultrasound probes. Studies have reported > 80% of transvaginal ultrasound probe handles are contaminated with disease causing pathogens since handle disinfection is omitted from standard reprocessing protocols. Significantly, it was recently discovered that widely‐used high level disinfectants referred to in guidelines are unable to kill HPV while it is becoming increasingly apparent that attention must be paid to the clinical sonography environment as a potential source of nosocomial pathogens. Ultrasound probe reprocessing guidelines and standards are comprehensive however the challenge is in general awareness and effective implementation into practice. As future research in this area is performed, guidelines will need to be amenable to revision to provide patients with the best standard of care.

Part 5: Malware Forensics; International audience; Malware is the fastest growing threat to information technology systems. Although a single absolute solution for defeating malware is improbable, a stacked arsenal against malicious software enhances the ability to maintain security and privacy. This research attempts to reinforce the anti-malware arsenal by studying a behavioral activity common to software – the use of handles. The characteristics of handle usage by benign and malicious software are extracted and exploited in an effort to distinguish between the two classes. An automated malware detection mechanism is presented that utilizes memory forensics, information retrieval and machine learning techniques. Experimentation with a malware dataset yields a malware detection rate of 91.4% with precision and recall of 89.8% and 91.1%, respectively.

A T-handle has been designed to be used for minimally invasive implantation of a dynamic hip screw to repair fractures of the proximal femur. It is capable of being used in two actions: (i) push and hold (while using an angle guide) and (ii) application of torque when using the insertion wrench and lag screw tap. The T-handle can be held in a power or precision grip. It is suitable for either single (sterilised by γ-irradiation) or multiple (sterilised by autoclaving) use. The principles developed here are applicable to handles for a wide range of surgical instruments.
