Objectives:Homoeopathic dilutions are used to increase active principles in medicinal plants, detoxify plants, increase plant growth rate and fruit production, improve plant metabolism and control diseases. This controlled experimental prospective study was conducted to evaluate the effect of homoeopathic medicinesZincum metallicum6CH andZ. metallicum12CH on plant growth ofAbelmoschus esculentusL. in a natural environment. This study helps assess and establish the role of homoeopathy in propagating plant growth.Materials and Methods:A. esculentusseeds were cultivated in a designated area of the Homoeopathy University campus. Among these, 30 receivedZincum6CH (20 drops in 1 litre water), while 30 receivedZincum12CH (20 drops in 1 L water) and 30 received normal water. After 60 days, the entire plant was measured for height, pod length and productivity.Results:After 60 days, the number of fruits (plant productivity) in the groups receivingZincum6CH and 12CH was 335 and 267, respectively; in the group receiving normal water, the number of fruits was 159. The heights of plants receivingZincum6CH (M = 48.4 cm, SD=2.65) and 12CH (M = 40.1 cm, SD=2.39) were comparatively more than in plants receiving normal water (M = 31.6 cm SD = 2.26). The length of pods in plants receivingZincum6CH (M=13.3 cm, SD = 0.96) and 12CH (M = 10.3 cm, SD = 0.97) was comparatively more than in plants receiving normal water (M = 8.9 cm SD = 0.62).Conclusion:The application of potentised homoeopathic medicinesZincum6CH and 12CH onA. esculentusdemonstrated a beneficial result, as observed through significant differences in plant productivity, mean plant height and mean pod length among the experimental and control groups.Zincum6CH showed more efficacy than 12CH in all aspects of growth.

Allergic rhinitis can occur continuously or intermittently throughout the year by an allergen to which the individual is more or less always exposed, characterized by sudden attack of sneezing, swelling of nasal mucosa, profuse watery discharge, itching of eyes and lachrymation. This study is to know the effectiveness of Homoeopathic medicines in the treatment of Allergic Rhinitis.

Introduction: Human immune system has evolved through eons of struggle between the host and pathogens. Although Arsenic can act as immunostimulant by causing an elevation of inflammatory responses in our body, the immunosuppressive effects of Arsenic include modulation of the numbers, survival and functions of immune and hematopoietic cells and impaired humoral and cell-mediated immunity. Immunomodulation is a kind of regulatory modification in the immune system to bring the desired response. Homoeopathy embraces a holistic approach in curing diverse diseases and it is used globally as an alternative medicine and seeks to cure in harmony with natural laws of healing. The present review focusses on the collection of results of studies carried out on effect of arsenic on immunity. Methodology: In this review literature available from various published studies and databases like PubMed, Springer, Elsevier and AYUSH research portal and references from the relevant articles published literature were searched in English language up to December 2020. Results: 25 studies were included in this review of which 10 in vivo, 9 in vitro, 2 Ex vivo and 4 review articles. Most of the studies substantiate the definitive role of Arsenic on immunomodulation. Conclusion: In future extensive studies are required to further explore the immunomodulatory effects of homoeopathic medicines Arsenicum album and studies based on human‑derived immune cells need more attention.

Background: Antioxidants are rampantly studied due to their ability to trap the free radicals. Due to excessive stress these free radicals take part as fundamental components in oxidative damage leading to changes in SOD, CT, GSSH, GPx, GSH, LPO, GGT, LDH. High Dilution Medicines (HDM) are also being investigated in deciphering their antioxidant properties. Methodology: The database for the research paper was screened from Google scholar, PubMed, and Web of Science. The search keywords used were Antioxidant, Homoeopathy, Homeopathy, In-vitro, In-vivo, Clinical trial in various permutation and combinations. The research article in original full text with English language is included in this manuscript. Score for assessment of biological experiment on homeopathy (SABEH) was referred for screening the research articles. Results: Around 14 research manuscript showed the research conducted on HDM with respect to their antioxidant properties. Four In-vitro, Eight In-vivo studies and two Clinical studies were used in assessing the antioxidant activity. Out of 14, only 12 studies were included in SABEH criteria scores above 5/9. SOD, CT, GSH, GPx, LPO, GSSH, GGT, LDH, 2,2 DPPH were found to be explored with HDM with their antioxidant properties. Conclusion: HDM can further be studied at to what extent they provide preventive role, interception role and repair role pertaining with their antioxidant properties, also comparing the efficacy of antioxidant properties through oral route and injectable in various stages of disease.

Conduct disorder is a psychiatric syndrome occurring in childhood and adolescence, and is characterised by a long-standing pattern of violations of rules and antisocial behaviour. The aetiology of conduct disorder involves an interaction of genetic/constitutional, familial and social factors. Conduct disorder increases the risk of several public health problems, including violence, weapon use, substance abuse and dropping out of school. Thus, it is important to identify conduct disorder and begin intervention as early as possible.Three cases of conduct disorder are presented here, which have been treated exclusively with homoeopathic medicines without any supportive therapies. The diagnosis and severity were assessed by Conduct Disorder Diagnostic Tool and the symptomatic assessment was done by using Conduct Disorder Rating Scale-Parent Version. Possible causal attribution of changes was explicitly depicted by Naranjo Criteria.The initial outcome of homoeopathic treatment shows a positive role of homoeopathy as the cases are exclusively managed by homoeopathic medicine.

Background: The unprecedented Covid-19 pandemic has created havoc in most areas of human lives. Anxiety disorders are the most prevalent psychiatric disorders, and the incidence increased in recent times. Homoeopathy is an alternative system of medicine with evidence-based effectiveness in mental health issues. There is a dearth of literature concerning the potential utility of Homoeopathy in the management of psychological issues during this pandemic. Objectives: This overview aims to assess the commonly prevalent anxiety disorders during Covid-19 and assess the usefulness of homoeopathic medicines in managing anxiety. Materials and methods: Selective literature in PubMed search engine to identify most prevalent anxiety disorders during Covid-19 using terms "Covid-19" and "Anxiety" and available research studies in homoeopathy on anxiety have been put forward in this narrative review. Results: The identified anxiety disorders during Covid-19 and the role of Homoeopathy in managing anxiety disorders have been summarized in the article. The homoeopathic perspective of anxiety and the rubrics related to anxiety disorders in different repertories are discussed. Conclusion: mental health is a critical concern in the pandemic’s scenario, and Homoeopathy can be a safe and effective alternative or adjunctive to the conventional system in the management of anxiety disorders during this chaotic situation. © International Journal of High Dilution Research. Homoeopathic medicines along with vaccination, face mask and social distancing can give relief in the coronavirus Pandemic.

Homoeopathy is the second most popular system of medicine but the mechanism of action of the homoeopathic medicines is still unclear and debatable, thus posing a prodigious challenge to describe its scientificity. This article aims to make a comprehensive review of immunomodulatory effect of Homoeopathy and attempts to elucidate the course of this mechanism.

INTRODUCTION: This study was aimed in understanding the pain management of hemorrhoids in adult age group using homoeopathic medicines, study the risk factors of hemorrhoids with respect to sexes and also to study the relation of hemorrhoids with respect to occupation. MATERIALS AND METHODS: A clinical study with sample of 30 cases of both sexes and age group of 18 - 60 yrs suffering from hemorrhoidal pain were selected from the OPD/IPD and rural centres of Sarada Krishna Homoeopathic Medical College. Case details were recorded and prescription was done based on totality of symptoms. Cases were followed for a period of 6 months. Observations were recorded and, pain before and after treatment were evaluated based on scoring criteria. Comparison of pain was done by paired ‘t’ test. Relationship of pain score was compared by correlation analysis. RESULT: Thirty cases were analyzed. After 6 months of treatment, there was a significant difference for pain. Sulphur was the remedy which was most used and scale most used was centisemal. Occupations in which people who have to sit for prolonged periods are at risk of developing haemorrhoids. Sedentary life style was a major risk factor which was seen in both sexes. CONCLUSION: This study shows that homoeopathic medicines are useful in pain management of haemorrhoids in adult age group. But to arrive at a confirmatory conclusion, more different study designs have to be applied.

Background: Frozen shoulder, is characterised by significant restriction of both active and passive shoulder motion that occurs in the absence of a known intrinsic shoulder disorder. It is more common in 40 - 60 age group and in manual workers. Methods: A Prospective, observational study was done in O.P.D. of Dr. Girendra Pal Homoeopathic Hospital, Jaipur. 35 patients aged 35 years and above suffering from frozen shoulder were enrolled as per inclusion and exclusion criteria and treated with homoeopathic medicines along with physiotherapy. Shoulder pain and disability index was used for pre and post treatment assessment Results: Homoeopathic medicines provided significant benefit to patients suffering from frozen shoulder, difference of mean = 1.72857, t (34) = 13.965, P = 0.005. Paired sample t- test result shows, disability improved by homoeopathic medicine, difference of mean = 1.73714, t (34) =11.707, P = 0.005. Conclusion: Homoeopathic treatment can provide relief to patients of frozen shoulder.

According to Hahnemann, homoeopathic medicines must be great immune responses inducers. In crude states, these medicines pose severe threats to the immune system. So, the immune-system of an organism backfires against the molecules of the medicinal substances. The complex immune response mechanism activated by the medicinal molecules can handle any threats which are similar to the threats posed by the medicinal molecules. The intersectional operation of the two sets, medicine-induced immune responses and immune responses necessary to cure diseases, shows that any effective homoeopathic medicine, which is effective against any disease, can induce immune responses which are necessary to cure the specific disease. In this article, this mechanism has been exemplified by the action of Silicea in human body. Also, a neuroimmunological assessment of the route of medicine administration shows that the oral cavity and the nasal cavity are two administration-routes where the smallest doses (sometimes even few molecules) of a particular homoeopathic medicine induce the most effective and sufficient (in amount) purgatory immune responses. Administering the smallest unitary doses of Silicea in the oral route can make significant changes in the vital force line on the dose–response relationship graph. The dose–response relationship graph further implicates that the most effective dose of a medicine must be below the lethality threshold. If multiple doses of any medicine are administered at same intervals, the immune-system primarily engages with the medicinal molecules; but along the passage of time, the engagement line splits into two: one engages with the medicinal molecules and another engages with diseases. The immune system's engagement with the diseases increases along the passage of time, though the engagement with the medicinal molecules gradually falls with the administration of descending doses. Necessarily, I have shown through mathematical logic that the descending doses, though they seem to be funny, can effectively induce the most effective immune responses.

The amount of time that the children spend on mobile phones has been increased drastically, added to the development of applications, learning features, gaming had made children more vulnerable to use more time. When speaking about safe and efficient way of treatment in managing such problems, Homoeopathy has an upper hand due to its individualistic and holistic approach. So, this study is mainly concentrating to determine the efficacy of homoeopathic medicines in management of mobile phone addiction in children. A sample of 15 cases screened and diagnosed with Problematic Mobile Phone Use Questionnaire (modified) to have mobile phone addiction is taken from the hospital in Kulasekharam. After analyzing for a period of time, 73% (11 cases) showed marked improvement, followed by slight improvement in 7% (1 case) and no improvement in 20% (3 cases). Hence, Homoeopathy found to be effective in controlling mobile phone addiction in children.

Objectives: To study the improvement in the Quality of Life in Epilepsy affected Children’s with Homoeopathic medicines. To find the Homoeopathic remedies in the treatment of Epilepsy from complete repertory.Background: Children with epilepsy particularly suffer from the Problems with Chronic antiepileptic medication use which is associated with possible side effects and have an influence on a child´s overall health and quality of life. Homeopathy system of medicine which not only relieves the symptom of the disease but also improve the quality of life in chronic diseases, as the medicine selection is based on the individuality of the patient. Materials and Methods: Random selection of 15 cases presenting with similar symptoms of Epilepsy from the OPD, and peripheral centres of Sarada Krishna Homoeopathic Medical College are taken. Pre and post treatment analysis was done using Quality of Life in Childhood Epilepsy scale score (QOLCE-55).Remedies prescribed based on the rubrics selected from the complete repertory.Result and Conclusion: Comparing the before and after scores based on Quality of life scale 55 for epilepsy of all the 15 cases taken for this study, 7 cases showed marked improvement, 5 cases showed moderate improvement, 1 case showed mild improvement and 2 case did not show any improvement. The study concludes that individualistic approach of Homoeopathy on epilepsy affected children’s found effective in the management of epilepsy as well as improvement in the quality of life.

Objectives: To investigate the role of individualized homoeopathic medicines in treatment of the Musclo Skeletal Disorders (MSS) of the elderly.Materials and Methods: An Observational cohort study was done by the secondary data analysis of 278 patients (age group of 60-65 years) visiting the Homoeopathic hospital from a period of 10 years (2000- 2010) to observe the subjective relief with homoeopathic medicines in the Musclo Skeletal System Disorders (MSS).Result: In the study after using homoeopathic medicines, 7.32% of patients reported 25% relief, 35% of patients had 50% relief, 17% patients were better by 75%, 14% patients were free of pain and ease in mobility, while 16% patients reported no relief. Homoeopathic medicines like Kali Carb (27.3%), Silicea (21.2%), and Calcarea Flour (13.7%) were the most indicated remedies in the elderly patients with MSS complaints and centesimal scale (30C - 38% of patients & 200C - 59% of the patients) was the most common potency scale used.Conclusion: Homoeopathy is effective in offering subjective sense of relief in elderly patients from their MSS complaints.

Endometrial ovarian cysts are one of the most common gynecological disorders found in women of reproductive age. They are frequently the cause of surgical interventions, undertaken not only by gynecologists but also by pelvic surgeons. Therefore, at least in this context, endometrial ovarian cysts should be considered an interdisciplinary problem. Here we present a case of 22 years old female having irregular menses, painful menstrual periods with heavy menstrual bleeding for the last 9 months, she had consulted with Gynaecologist and diagnosed with left ovarian Endometriotic Cyst. She was treated with conventional medical therapies for the last 1year but no successful result. At this point, she took homoeopathic treatment (Pulsatilla followed by Medorrhinum) and showed normal USG findings within one year. This case shows the positive role of constitutional anti miasmatic homoeopathic treatment in Endometriotic cyst.

Background and Objective: Migraine is the common cause of headache. Studies shows that these patients are more prone for suicide, depression and learning problems. Though there are many modes of treatment, no method can give satisfactory result in cases of migraine. Homoeopathy has unlimited possibilities for a case of migraine as literature suggests. Through this study an attempt is made to verify the effectiveness of Homoeopathic medicines in migraine.Methodology: Prospective, observational, non-randomized study was carried out in 30 patients within the age group of 15-45 years suffering from migraine and followed for a period of 6 months to 1 year. The outcome assessment was done by scores before and after treatment.Results and Conclusion: Among the 30 samples, 14(46.67%) patients showed marked improvement, 12(40%) patients showed moderate improvement and 4(13.33%) patients showed no improvement. The result shows that there is broad scope for homoeopathy in the treatment of migraine.

PEM is fairly common worldwide in both children and adults and accounts for 6 million deaths annually. By giving proper nutrition to the sufferer along with the support of homoeopathic medicines PEM can be managed very effectively.

Background Primary dysmenorrhoea (PD) is painful menstruation without any identifiable pelvic pathology. More than 70% of teenagers suffer from varying degrees of discomfort during menstruation. Effective conventional treatment of PD includes non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs or oral contraceptive pills that usually have adverse effects.Objective The objective of the present study was to compare the effectiveness of individualised homoeopathic medicines with symptomatic conventional treatment in management of PD in young unmarried females by using Visual Analogue Scale (VAS) for assessing intensity of pain and World Health Organization Quality of Life: Brief Version (WHOQOL-BREF) scale for assessing the quality of life (QoL).Materials and Methods In this randomised, open-label, clinical study, 80 patients were randomly allocated in two groups: one with indicated homoeopathic medicines (Group I; N = 40) and the other with conventional treatment (Group II; N = 40). The selection of homoeopathic medicines was based on individualisation, and follow-up of cases was done every month for six cycles. VAS score was used to assess pain intensity and WHOQOL-BREF scale was used for assessing QoL, at 3 and 6 months of treatment.Results In Group I, out of 40 patients, 14 (35%) cases reported moderate pain and 26 (65%) reported severe pain before treatment, out of whom 29 (72.5%) patients had mild pain, 8 (20%) cases moderate pain and 3 (7.5%) cases severe pain, after homoeopathic treatment. In Group II, out of 40 patients, 11 (27.5%) reported moderate pain and 29 (72.5%) had severe pain before treatment, whereas 12 (30%) patients reported mild, 16 (40%) moderate pain and 12 (30%) severe pain, after conventional treatment. The t-value was –4.186 (p Conclusion It was concluded that intensity of pain during menses was reduced and QoL improved in patients with PD in homoeopathic intervention group, which proved the effectiveness of individualised homoeopathic medicines.

Background Otitis is a general term for inflammation or infection of the ear. Otitis media is the presence of inflammation or infection in the middle ear. Homoeopathy is the most popular treatment among the complementary and alternative medicine therapies sought for otitis media. Several studies revealed promising role of homoeopathic treatment in otitis media. The present study comprises the role of homoeopathic medicines in the treatment of 20 cases of otitis media. Materials and Methods It is a case series of 20 cases of otitis media which is unicentric retrospective observational study. Data was collected after consecutive appointments of patients visiting one outpatient clinic of Regional Research Institute for Homoeopathy, Guwahati, during the 12 months, January 2019 to January 2020. Individualised homoeopathic medicines were administered according to the rules of homoeopathy. In this study, outcome related to impact on daily living scale was used to assess the patient's well-being. The outcome score recorded at the last follow-up appointment per case was thus the single value analysed. Result Among the patients (n = 20) included in the study, the number of patients belonging to female category was 10, (50%) while 10 patients (50%) were male, with a ratio of 1:1. Several medicines (n = 8) were prescribed and administered as follows: Belladonna (n = 1, 5%), Chamomilla (n = 1, 5%), Kali muriaticum (n = 2, 10%), Kali sulphuricum (n = 4, 20%), Mercurius dulcis (n = 2, 10%), Mercurius solubilis (n = 7, 35%), Pulsatilla (n = 2, 10%), Silicea (n = 1, 5%). No patient required antibiotics. Out of 20 cases, only four patients needed second prescription. Change of prescription was done in only one case among them. Higher potency was administered for the other three cases. 16 patients followed-up and 4 patients were dropped out after first prescription. Of these 16 follow-ups, there was a positive outcome in 12 (60%), negative in 2 (10%) and no change in 2 (10%) patients. In our study, outcome did not depend on the age but on medicine. Correctly chosen remedy with strict homoeopathic principle shows maximum improvement. When duration of illness was analysed, it was found that cases with complaints of short duration improve early, whereas cases with long duration of illness took much time to recover or remained status quo. Conclusion The study reflected the importance of homoeopathic prescribing in the treatment of otitis following strict homoeopathic principles.

Eczema is a superficial inflammation of the skin. In conventional medicine, it is treated with emollients and topical steroids. We present the case of a 44-year-old male patient with eczema over the face, neck, chest and hands, who was treated with the homoeopathic medicines sulphur and graphites without the aid of emollients and steroids. It is clearly apparent from this evidence-based case report that homoeopathy has a positive role in the treatment of eczema. This finding can provide the basis for conducting large-scale studies with different study designs regarding the treatment of eczema with homoeopathy.

Pseudomonas aeruginosa is one of the major bacteria for nosocomial infections because the conditions are favourable for its growth and with multidrug resistance to various antibiotics. Homoeopathy, the system of medicines which doesn't show any adverse reaction is considered safe for administration. The homoeopathic medicines Barosma Crenata 30CH, Holarrhena Antidysenterica 30CH, Laurocerasus 6CH gave more than 75% inhibition in single-dose, whereas gave inhibition of more than 84% when administered in repetition. These medicines were also given in conjunction with different medicines in double and triple doses where inhibition was more than 83% and 87% respectively. Out of all the medicines selected for the experiments, Laurocerasus 6CH gave the most inhibition i.e. 90.91%, which gave more inhibition then Doripenem per cent inhibition (86%).

There are the wide ranges of Homoeopathic medicines considered as rare remedies on the basis of Paucity of symptoms and Large medicines with rare symptoms representing the uniqueness when selected on the basis of totality inclusion. Homoeopathic clinical approach requires understanding for these of its broad range of medicines belonging to both large and lesser group of medicines. Use of rare medicines is required as management during the acute stages as well as in one sided presentation of symptoms in such cases.

Objective is to guide that necessity of Orientation classes for parents and need of usage of homoeopathic medicines on treating ADHD.

Haemorrhage in an ovarian cyst is very common. These cyst are known as haemorrhagic ovarian cysts (HOCs).Most of the cyst disappears spontaneously, but certain cyst requires surgical intervention. HOCs are formed because of occurrence of bleeding into a follicular or corpus luteum cyst. Allopathic system of medicines used various hormonal pills for its management which may have adverse drug reactions. Homoeopathic medicines are very helpful to manage such conditions. This article is about a case of 27 years old female who was suffering from haemorrhagic cyst. Homoeopathic medicine was given on the basis of totality of symptoms and patient cured within three months of treatment. Patient’s consent has been taken for the publication of this case report.

Background Symptomatic benign prostatic hyperplasia (BPH) is a common condition in elderly men and has a significant impact on their daily lives. Surgical procedures are currently used for the conventional treatment for BPH; but they have been associated with clinically significant adverse effects in patients. Objectives The main purpose of this article is to evaluate the role of homoeopathic medicines for the treatment of BPH. Materials and Methods Clinically diagnosed 30 subjects of BPH were given homoeopathy treatment and followed up for a period of 1 year. Homoeopathic medicines were prescribed to the subjects according to the principles of homoeopathy. Effects of homoeopathic medicines were analysed periodically by American Urological Association score (AUA score) and ultrasonography. Results Marked amelioration of symptoms and reduction in size of prostate gland in BPH subjects were observed after homoeopathic treatment when analysed by AUA score and ultrasonography. There was marked reduction in various symptoms of BPH like nocturia, straining, incomplete sensation after urination, interrupted flow of urination with dribbling of urine and urgency significantly from 21.60 ± 4.64 units to 12.23 ± 3.68, that is, ∼57% reduction in symptoms of obstruction of bladder problem. The reduction was statistically significant (p = 0.001). However, transabdominal pelvic ultrasonic scan did not show statistically significant results. Conclusion Homoeopathic medicines can prove to be an alternative treatment of BPH.

ObjectivesTo provide a contemporary description of complementary medicine (CM) product use in Australia.DesignCross-sectional survey.SettingOnline.ParticipantsA nationally representative sample (n=2019) of the Australian adult population.Primary and secondary outcome measuresPrimary outcomes measures included the use and type of CM products used, and source of recommendation. Secondary measures included disclosure of CM product use to health practitioners, concomitant use of pharmaceuticals and predictors of use.ResultsPrevalence of CM product use was 50.3%, with the most frequently used being vitamin and mineral supplements (VMSs; 47.8%) and homoeopathic medicines the least used (6.8%). A majority of respondents using CM products were also using pharmaceutical products, and small but significant associations were found between the use of CM products and pharmaceuticals (p2(29)=174.70, pConclusionsThe number of Australians using CM products has remained relatively stable and substantial for nearly two decades. The majority of CM use relates to VMSs. Given the number of Australians using both CM products and pharmaceutical medicines, it is important to evaluate the potential clinical implications of such practices to ensure safe, effective and coordinated health policy and patient care.

Dizziness or Vertigo is a hallucination of the sense of equilibrium and movements, where the person feels that either his surroundings are going round him, or he himself is rotating. Approximately 2540% patients who present with the chief complaint of dizziness have benign paroxysmal positional vertigo (BPPV). BPPV is characterized by momentary vertigo, which occurs only in certain positions of the head, while changing the position. It is often accompanied by nystagmus. The lesion is supposed to be in the Otoliths of the vestibule. In half of all cases, BPPV is called ‘idiopathic”. Methods: 30 cases were selected fitting the case definition. Inclusion and exclusion criteria were laid down. Creteria for assessment was laid down. Results: All the results were tabulated. Graphical presentation was made of all the observations. Score before and after treatment was compared. It was found that there was vast difference in scores before and after treatment which showed that there was great improvement after treatment with Homoeopathic Medicines. Conclusion: Homoeopathic Medicines are effective in managing cases of BPPV.

Background: The World Health Organization (WHO) considersHypertension (HT) as one of the most important causes of premature death worldwide.It is directly responsible for 57% of all deaths due to stroke and 24% of all deaths due to coronary heart disease deaths in India. Recent studies conducted on Indian population have shown that the prevalence of hypertension in urban areas is 25%,whereas, it is 10% in rural areas. 1 According to the statistics of the WHO, homoeopathy is the second most useful health care system in the world. However, a meta-analysis in 2005 concluded that the clinical effects of homoeopathy are nothing but placebo effects. 2 Although a conflicting conclusion was arrived at earlier in 1997 by another meta-analysis. 3 The aim of this study was to evaluate whether individualized homoeopathic medicines could produce any significant hypotensive effect different from placebo in patients with essential hypertension by comparing the lowering of blood pressure level between groups. Settings and Design: A prospective, double-blind, randomized, placebo-controlled, parallel-arm clinical trial was conducted atDr.NishantDaryani’s clinic, Jaipur &Dr.NiveditaPattanaik’sclinic, Udaipur.(Raj.). Material and Methods:Total 233 hypertensive patients were assessed for eligibility, out of which 150 were enrolled and randomized for the study (verum/homoeopathy 70 &control/placebo 80). Among 150 patients 18 were dropped out during the study while 132 remained under regular follow up (verum 64, control 68). The outcome measures were assessed at the end of 3 and 6 months. Results: The baseline data were not significantly different between the groups. After 6 months, mean Systolic Blood Pressure (SBP) in the homoeopathy group reduction was 26.6 mm Hg (95% CI 21.5, 31.7) whereasSBP in the placebo group increased by 3.6 mm Hg (95% CI -8.7, 1.5). Similarly, the mean Diastolic Blood Pressure (DBP) in the homoeopathy group reduced by 11.8 mm Hg (95% CI 9.2, 14.4) whereas DBP increased by 1.6 mm Hg (95% CI -3.6, 0.4) in the placebo group. Repeated measures ANOVA also showed significant difference (P=0.0001) between the groups. Detailed case recording of each patient was doneon Case recording format (CRF) following guidelines laid down by Master Hahnemann in Organon of Medicine 4 and Kent's philosophy 5 .Wherever required repertorization was done from synthesis repertory using RADAR software version 10.5 6 and final selection of medicine was done through Homoeopathic MateriaMedica. Frequently prescribed medicines were Natrummur.,Lachesis, Glonoine, Gelsemium, Bryonia alba, Aurum met.,Pulsatilla, Sulphur, Digitalis and Belladonna.

The densities, ρ, ultrasonic speeds, u and viscosities, η and refractive indices, nD of pure ethanol, 15 samples of succussed ethanol controls, 15 formulations of acidum salicylicum in unsuccussed ethanol and 15 formulations of acidum salicylicum in succussed ethanol have been measured for potencies from 2 C to 30 C (with an interval of 2 C) at 298.15, 308.15 and 318.15 K and atmospheric pressure. From these experimental data, the isentropic compressibilities, κs, intermolecular free length, Lf, acoustic impedance, Z, relative association, RA, excess isentropic compressibility, κsE, excess intermolecular free length, LfE, excess acoustic impedance, ZE, excess viscosity, ηE and excess refractive index, nDE have been calculated. The results have been qualitatively discussed in terms of interactions/physicochemical behaviour of acidum salicylicum in these solutions. The results indicate that even in extreme dilutions the molecules of acidum salicylicum may be present in these homoeopathic formulations. Both the presence of acidum salicylicum as well as succussion phenomenon may be responsible for the variation of the physicochemical properties of these homoeopathic formulations.

In a group of 100 patients diagnosed with allergic rhinitis, the results of homeopathic treatment based on classic homeopathy were tested. Remedies were selected with the use of Phatak's Concise Repertory.

Terminalia chebula is an important medicinal plant, extensively used in Ayurveda, Unani and Homoeopathic medicines. The present study was aimed to reveal its genetic diversity based on molecular markers from twelve T. chebula accessions. Molecular diversity was studied using RAPD markers. A total of 8 polymorphic primers produced 314 polymorphic bands and 195 monomorphic bands. Unweighted Pair Group Method with Arithmetic Mean (UPMGA) dendrogram divided the accessions into 2 major clusters. Accession IIHRTc2 and IIHRTc10 showed maximum genetic diversity with 55% similarity. This characterization based on molecular markers will help in identification of economically useful accessions for further crop improvement programme.

Background: This review discusses the importance of inter-individual variations in Homoeopathy and role of immune modulation through cytokine induction behind these variations in symptoms. Objectives: To analyse the effects of homoeopathic drugs in modulation of cytokine synthesis to find the individualised immunological mechanisms of these drugs. Methods: The PubMed database was searched for studies which analysed effects of homoeopathic medicines on cytokine synthesis. Full texts of shortlisted studies after scrutiny of abstracts, were analysed for study design, homoeopathic medicines used, cytokines analysed and results. Results: The PubMed search yielded 21 studies. After analysis of abstracts of 21 studies, 10 were shortlisted, which included 7 in vivo and 2 in vitro studies. One study had both in vivo and in vitro interventions. Majority of in vivo studies used rat and exposure to immunological challenge before administration of homoeopathic medicine. The cytokines studied were interleukin (IL)-1α, IL-1β, interferon-gamma, tumour necrosis factor alpha, IL-2, IL-4, IL-5, IL-6, IL-10 and IL-12. The two in vitro studies evaluated effects of Saussurea lappa and Mercurius solubilis on lymphocytes and macrophage culture, respectively. Out of 10 studies analysed, 8 showed homoeopathic medicines can modulate cytokine synthesis either by increasing or decreasing the cytokine synthesis, in a statistically significant manner. Conclusion: The studies were heterogeneous regarding the antigenic challenge given to stimulate immune cells and only 50% of studies clearly mentioned random allocation of animals in groups. Though majority of studies showed that homoeopathic medicines can modulate cytokine synthesis, the mechanism of cytokine modulation remained unexplored.

Background. Status of autonomic homoeostasis in hemostasic disturbances due to hemophilia needs to be studied. Objectives. To compare autonomic nervous system markers measured by heart rate variability (HRV) and blood flow variability (BFV) in hemophiliacs and healthy age-matched control population using medical analyzer system. Design. Cross-sectional study. Settings. Motiwala Homoeopathy Medical College, and Hemophilia Clinics, Nashik. Subjects. Eighty subjects. Interventions. Nil. Outcome Measures. Autonomic function markers for HRV and BFV. Results. Among 80 subjects, BFV time domain measure, root mean square of successive NN (normal-to-normal) interval differences (RMSSD), was significantly higher among hemophiliacs than nonhemophiliacs. Frequency domain analysis parameter, low frequency for both HRV and BFV was significantly higher among hemophiliacs as compared with nonhemophiliacs. Conclusions. Hemophiliacs were shown to have higher autonomic activity as compared with healthy controls. Homoeopathic medicines used as an adjunct was associated with decrease in parasympathetic modulations.

Lacrimal glands are exclusive structures possessing both epithelial and lymphoid tissue and may produce a variable range of pathologies such as neoplastic, infective, infiltrative, inflammatory and structural. Treatment is either anti-inflammatory in the form of corticosteroids, radiotherapy or complete excision in the field of modern medicine. A female patient named IB, aged 35 years, came with bilateral firm swelling of the lacrimal gland. She started treatment under modern medicine doctors; however, when she was advised for biopsy, for histopathological examination, she preferred to go for Homoeopathy. The swelling was developing gradually for 2 months – painless, no fluctuation, no fixity to skin and underlying structures. After thorough case-taking followed by repertorisation, Calcarea carbonica 1M, two doses were prescribed. The patient reported after 2 months with zero Outcome in Relation to Impact on Daily Living instrument score. Further modification was done in repertorisation, and now Silicea 1M, two doses was prescribed. Treatment continued for 4 more months and no new medicine or further repetition was required. Documentation was done in the form of photographs of the patient from the same angle under similar light exposure in every follow-up.

Context: Scientific assessment of proving symptoms or already recorded symptoms in patients refers to Clinical Verification (CV). There are serious shortcomings of existing methods of CV, mostly arising from qualitative observations made on absolute occurrence of symptoms instead of relative ones. This problem can be resolved by the use of the Likelihood Ratio (LR). Aim: This study aims to estimate the prevalence and LRs of general symptoms of 29 less frequently prescribed homoeopathic medicines. Methods: The study was multicentric, open and observational. Patients were enrolled as per pre-specified eligibility criteria. Alongside, presenting complaints and general symptoms were taken into account during prescription. Medicines were prescribed in centesimal potencies. LR calculation of general symptoms was based on clinician-rated outcomes as 'improved' and 'not improved' of presenting complaints and was divided into three sections: (1) when the prevalence of a symptom was available from literature, LR was calculated by assessing the prevalence of that symptom in the responder sample, (2) in the absence of so, calculation was restricted to mean prevalence data from study sample ('confined LR') and (3) 'confined LRs' were not calculated for symptoms whose prevalence were not recorded for at least five medicines and were kept for estimation in future. Results: Of 166 general symptoms of 29 medicines, LRs and confined LRs >1.5 were elicited for 6 and 49 symptoms, respectively. Conclusion: In spite of considerable caveats, it is the first insight into prevalence and LRs of general symptoms of less frequently prescribed homoeopathic medicines. Further research is warranted.

This paper seeks to develop a hypothesis on the scientific basis of homoeopathic medicine, and the research opportunities that this field of medicine presents, by primarily stating the cardinal laws on which homoeopathy is based, and secondly reviewing literature on the basic sciences in an attempt to find out as to whether the latter has any explanation of the said laws. This has been achieved by focusing on the assumptions and theories of the founder of homoeopathy Dr. Samuel Hahnemann, precisely homoeopathy’s cardinal law which states that a substance which when administered to a healthy person produces sick symptoms in that person, will cure disease with symptoms similar to those that it produces on one hand, while on the other hand the concept of serial dilutions (potencies) and the notion that the higher the dilution, the more stronger the therapeutic effect of the drug on the other. Outcomes based evidence in support of the efficacy of homoeopathic medicines is visited, which proves the authenticity of both the law of similar and the effectiveness of potentised homeopathic drugs. Thereafter both theories are then explained in terms of established scientific laws, principles and theories. Consequently, it is established that Homoeopathic medicine holds with science in general and modern day science in particular, with the vaccination and nanoparticle theories coming up as the most conspicuous scientific explanations for the two said homoeopathic laws. Lastly, this field of medicine presents broad research opportunities, for example the determination of the number of above Avogadro number nanoparticles of a substance in a given serial dilution, so as to establish as to whether each serial dilution possess evenly distributed nanoparticles at any given time.

In this study, we have chosen HPTLC as a method of analysis to develop a standard procedure based on fingerprinting characteristics for the evaluation of homoeopathic formulations. A simple and accurate HPTLC method has been developed for the quantification of BacosideA and fingerprinting of the in-house mother tincture considered here to be a standard with that of different marketed samples available from manufacturers of homoeopathic medicines in India. This HPTLC method was quantitatively evaluated in terms of stability, repeatability, accuracy and calibration providing the utility in the analysis of the mother tincture.

Homoeopathy is among the commonly used alternative approaches in Cancer. It is being widely used as palliative and curative in patients suffering from cancer. Though studies on the use of Homoeopathy in cancer after surgery, radio therapy and chemotherapy have been reported, clinical trials on effects of Homoeopathy in cancer are rare. Some studies on the effect of dosage of Homoeopathic medicines and their mechanism of action in cancer have also been published. A few case reports published here and there also find a mention in different databases. This review aims to describe literature available on the approach of Homoeopathy in Cancer by searching various databases like Elsevier, Google Scholar, Pub Med, Scopus, Springer and Wiley online library, electronically. It was found that beneficial effect of Homoeopathic medicines are reported on some cancer cell lines via apoptosis and immune modulation. Homoeopathic treatment given as add on also improves the quality of life, survival time and presenting complaints. However, more evidence needs to be generated to demonstrate anti tumor or antimetastatic potential in controlled clinical trials.

Introduction: The first-of-its-kind World Integrated Medicine Forum (WIMF) on the regulation of homoeopathic medicinal products (HMPs) which was attended by various stakeholders from 23 countries witnessed rigorous discussions to strengthen existing regulatory framework of homoeopathic medicines in the world, as well as to bring harmony within the Homoeopathy market for drug manufacture standards including pharmacopoeial convergence. Materials and Methods: A feedback questionnaire was shared with the participants through SurveyMonkey online platform to seek their opinion about the Forum, obtain their country-specific views about regulations of HMPs, to evaluate the extent to which the Forum could meet its objectives and also to identify areas of improvements which may be taken note for organising a future WIMF. Results: Sixty-one percent participants from 18 countries returned the survey. Analysis of the responses revealed a group consensus about the remarkable organisation of the Forum, its usefulness from a national perspective, etc. The questions could also fetch insight about country-specific reforms that are required in the availability and regulations of HMPs. All the respondents who took the survey recommended a next Forum on the same lines, out of which 92% said they would recommend it to other colleagues. Conclusion: Homoeopathy is a widely recognised and accepted system worldwide. Based on its increasing demand, a harmonised regulatory system for homeopathic medicines must be developed to ensure good quality of HMPs, and this can be achieved through cooperative interactions among various stakeholders, both nationally and globally. A Forum such as this, at least once every 2 years, can provide the right push on this front.

While the "Materia Medica fo the Homoeopathic medicine” by the Indian homoeopath S. R. Phatak has a large circulation, and the "Concise Repertory of the Homoeopathic medicines” has recently been issued in German translation, there is only scarce knowledge about Phatak's practice, as he did not leave behind a written method. To close the gap, the author studied the writings and the structure of the works by Phatak and thus developed a methodical system, which is being compared to the method of Boger.

Es kann gezeigt werden, das im vorliegenden Fall Beschleunigungs- und Druckverlauf bei maschineller und manueller Verschuttelung weitgehende Ahnlichkeiten aufweisen. Diluting and shaking are indispensable Operations for the production of homoeopathic medicines. But beyond 10 liters, manual shaking can no longer be done if parallel Operations are to be avoided. At this stage it is necessary to employ mechanical shakers. A newly developed mechanical shaking machine gives rise to Publishing quantitative data on the acceleration of the shaken vessel and the pressure within the vessel during the shaking process. It can be shown that, basically, the mechanical shaking process conforms to the manual shaking process.

Conventional chemistry has no answer to either the secret of medicinal value of high potency (above 12c) homoeopathic medicines or how they can be identified, that is, differentiated from one another. Original medicinal substance being diluted away these are chemical-free medicines. This gives leverage to skeptics to brand cures by such medicines as placebo effect or mental cure. This article shows major contradictions in their hypothesis. Thereafter, as a logical derivation it arrives at the structural model: A substance is to be recognized as a medicine if it has the capability of curing disease(s) while its medicinal property is to be attributed to molecular structure of vehicle like water or of distinct chemical substance when it exists. It is a shift of focus from chemical formula to physical structure. Several works are cited to show that the no-chemical homoeopathic medicines have water structures. Structure, be it of crude medicinal substance or of molecular structure of water vehicle, plays the predominant role throughout the potency range. So, structures give us the generalized understanding of medicines. The article also shows that there is a link between structure, medicinal value and biological effect.
