The integration of 2D materials into future applications relies on advances in their quality and production. We here report a synthesis method that achieves ultrahigh optoelectronic performance at unprecedented fabrication scales. A mediator-assisted chemical vapor deposition process yields tungsten-disulfide (WS2) with near-unity photoluminescence quantum yield, superior photosensitivity and improved environmental stability. This enhancement is due to the decrease in the density of lattice defects and charge traps brought about by the self-regulating nature of the growth process. This robustness in the presence of precursor variability enables the high-throughput growth in atomically confined stacks and achieves uniform synthesis of single-layer WS2 on dozens of closely packed wafers. Our approach enhances the scientific and commercial potential of 2D materials as demonstrated in producing large-scale arrays of record-breaking optoelectronic devices.

The focus of this study is development of an intelligent fault detection, diagnosis and health evaluation system for real industrial robots. The system uses principal component analysis based statistical process control with Nelson rules for online fault detection. Several suitable Nelson rules are chosen for sensitive detection. When a variation is detected, the system performs a diagnostic operation to acquire features of the time domain and the frequency domain from the motor encoder, motor current sensor and external accelerometer for fault diagnosis with a multi-class support vector machine. Additionally, a fuzzy logic based robot health index generator is proposed for evaluating the health of the robot, and the generator is an original design to reflect the health status of the robot. Finally, several real aging-related faults are implemented on a six-axis industrial robot, DRV90L7A6213N by Delta Electronics, and the proposed system is validated effectively by the experimental results.

SUMMARYThe variable stiffness actuator (VSA) is helpful to realize the post-collision safety strategies for safe human–robot interaction.1 The stiffness of the robot will be reduced to protect the user from injury when the collision between the robot and human occurs. However, The VSA has a mechanism limit constraint that can cause harm to users even if the stiffness is minimized. Accordingly, in this article, a concept combining danger index and robust fault detection and isolation is presented and applied to active–passive variable stiffness elastic actuator (APVSEA). APVSEA can actively change joint stiffness with the change of danger index. Experimental results show that this concept can effectively confirm the fault mode and provide additional protection measures to ensure the safety of users when the joint stiffness has been adjusted to the minimum.

Pyrochlore titanate (Y2Ti2O7) is a promising material for a wide range of applications in optoelectronics and photocatalysis due to its advantageous chemical, mechanical, and optical properties. To enhance its potential for such uses, however, a high-quality and scalable synthesis method is required. We here investigate the crystallization of sol–gel produced Y2Ti2O7 layers. We observe a transition of the amorphous pyrochlore phase at annealing temperatures below 700 °C. The transmittances of the Y2Ti2O7 thin layers annealed at 400 to 700 °C are approximately 92.3%. The refractive indices and packing densities of Y2Ti2O7 thin layers annealed at 400–700 °C/1 h vary from 1.931 to 1.954 and 0.835 to 0.846, respectively. The optical bandgap energies of Y2Ti2O7 thin layers annealed at 400–700 °C/1 h reduce from 4.356 to 4.319 eV because of the Moss–Burstein effect. These good electronic and optical properties make Y2Ti2O7 thin layers a promising host material for many potential applications.

The success of van-der-Waals electronics, which combine large-scale-deposition capabilities with high device performance, relies on the efficient production of suitable 2D materials. Shear exfoliation of 2D materials’ flakes from bulk sources can generate 2D materials with low amounts of defects, but the production yield has been limited below industry requirements. Here, we introduce additive-assisted exfoliation (AAE) as an approach to significantly increase the efficiency of shear exfoliation and produce an exfoliation yield of 30%. By introducing micrometer-sized particles that do not exfoliate, the gap between rotor and stator was dynamically reduced to increase the achievable shear rate. This enhancement was applied to WS2 and MoS2 production, which represent two of the most promising 2D transition-metal dichalcogenides. Spectroscopic characterization and cascade centrifugation reveal a consistent and significant increase in 2D material concentrations across all thickness ranges. Thus, the produced WS2 films exhibit high thickness uniformity in the nanometer-scale and can open up new routes for 2D materials production towards future applications.

Process capability analysis is conducted assuming that the process under study is in statistical control and independent observations are generated over time. However, in practice it is very common to come across process which, due to their inherent natures, generate autocorrelated observations. An approach that has proved useful in dealing with autocorrelated data is to directly model the correlative structure with an appropriate time series model, use that model to remove the autocorrelation from the data. The object of this paper was to generating the tables, which show the lower and upper 90%, 95% and 99% confidence limits for Cp and Cpk, for various level of confidence and autocorrelated. We also will provide tables for the engineers/practitioner to use for their in-plant applications.

This study examines the relationship between innovation strategy and performance. It will test the hypothesis that environmental munificence moderates the relationship between a firm's innovation strategy and its performance. The sample will collect from high-tech industry in Science Park. The results will implicate for another sectors, as well as for the practice of management.

Broadcasting is an often seen operation in the wireless network environment. In an ad hoc wireless network, because of the mobility of each host, it is not an easy job for every mobile host to receive the broadcast message. Applications such as current time synchronisation, paging, finding the route to a particular destination, etc., all need to broadcast frequently. A simple broadcasting strategy is flooding. However, flooding leads to many redundant broadcasts and makes poor utilization of bandwidth. We try to improve the performance of broadcasting in an ad hoc wireless network. We propose several methods to reduce the redundancy of rebroadcasting the same message and increase the reachability.
