Mobile edge computing (MEC) is proposed to boost high-efficient and time-sensitive 5G applications. However, the "microburst" may occur even in lightly-loaded scenarios, which leads to the indeterministic service latency (i.e., unpredictable delay or delay variation), hence hindering the deployment of MEC. Deterministic IP networking (DIP) has been proposed that can provide bounds on latency, and high reliability in the large-scale networks. Nevertheless, the direct migration of DIP into the MEC network is non-trivial owing to its original design for the Ethernet with homogeneous devices. Meanwhile, DIP also faces the challenges on the network throughput and scheduling flexibility. In this paper, we delve into the adoption of DIP for the MEC networks and some of the relevant aspects. A deterministic MEC (D-MEC) network is proposed to deliver the deterministic service (i.e., providing the MEC service with bounded service latency). In the D-MEC network, two mechanisms, including the cycle mapping and cycle shifting, are designed to enable: (i) seamless and deterministic transmission with heterogeneous underlaid resources; and (ii) traffic shaping on the edges to improve the resource utilization. We also formulate a joint configuration to maximize the network throughput with deterministic QoS guarantees. Extensive simulations verify that the proposed D-MEC network can achieve a deterministic MEC service, even in the highly-loaded scenarios.

Dilute magnetic semiconductors (DMSs), such as (In, Mn)As and (Ga, Mn)As prototypes, are limited to III–V semiconductors with Curie temperatures (Tc) far from room temperature, thereby hindering their wide application. Here, one kind of DMS based on perovskite niobates is reported. BaMxNb(1−x)O3−δ (M = Fe, Co) powders are prepared by the composite-hydroxide-mediated method. The addition of M elements endows BaMxNb(1−x)O3−δ with local ferromagnetism. The tetragonal BaCoxNb(1−x)O3−δ nanocrystals can be obtained by Co doping, which shows strong saturation magnetization(Msat) of 2.22 emu g−1, a remnant magnetization(Mr) of 0.084 emu g−1 and a small coercive field (Hc) of 167.02 Oe at room temperature. The ab initio calculations indicate that Co doping could lead to a 64% local spin polarization at the Fermi level (EF) with net spin DOS of 0.89 electrons eV−1, this result shows the possibility of maintaining strong ferromagnetism at room temperature. In addition, the trade-off effect between the defect band absorption and ferromagnetic properties of BaMxNb(1−x)O3−δ is verified experimentally and theoretically.

In this contribution, three polymerizable benzophenone photoinitiators containing maleimide group including 4-maleimidebenzophenone (MBP), 4-chlorine-4′-maleimide benzophenone (CMBP), and 4-maleimide-4′-[(4-maleimide)thiophenyl]benzophenone (MMTBP) were designed and synthesized to enhance the polymerization degree of photosensitive polysiloxane containing methacryloxy active groups (MAPSO). The polymerization behaviors of the MAPSO cured by different photoinitiators were investigated using Fourier transform infrared (FTIR). It was noted that the MAPSO initiated by MMTBP showed a high carbon–carbon double bond conversion above 80% because of the existence of thiophenyl group which could generate more radicals from the photolysis reaction at the CS bond. In addition, the thermal stability of the UV-cured MAPSO were studied by thermogravimetric analysis (TGA), the result showed that the initial 5% mass loss (T5%) and residual weight percent at 800 °C in nitrogen of the UV-cured MAPSO initiated by MMTBP systems was 200 °C and 33.8%. The strength, performance, and application of carbon fiber reinforced plastic (CFRP) composites are directly affected by the interfacial bonding between fiber and resin. Wet winding technology is a commonly used composite productive process, and improving interfacial bonding of composites by on-line treatment has always been the focus of attention. In this paper, an on-line ultrasonic treatment system is designed and realized, the resin content of prepregs is determined by the dissolution method; standard deviation and dispersion coefficient are also calculated. The surface morphology, internal structure of prepregs, and the component of resin are observed and analyzed using a Metallurgical Microscope, scanning electron microscope (SEM), and near infrared radiation spectra (NIRS). The strength and performance of prepregs [(tensile strength, bending strength, tensile modulus of elasticity, bending modulus of elasticity, and interlaminar shear strength (ILSS)] are also tested. The results show the on-line ultrasonic treatment system can effectively improve the interfacial bonding of CFRP composites and enhance the strength and performance of CFRP composites.

The mutual irradiated aramid fibers in 1,4-dichlorobutane was ammoniated by ammonia/alcohol solution, in an attempt to improve the interfacial properties between aramid fibers and epoxy matrix. Scanning electron microscopy (SEM), X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS), dynamic contact angle analysis (DCA), interfacial shear strength (IFSS), and single fiber tensile testing were carried out to investigate the functionalization process of aramid fibers and the interfacial properties of the composites. Experimental results showed that the fiber surface elements content changed obviously as well as the roughness through the radiation and chemical reaction. The surface energy and IFSS of aramid fibers increased distinctly after the ammonification, respectively. The amino groups generated by ammonification enhanced the interfacial adhesion of composites effectively by participating in the epoxy resin curing. Moreover, benefited by the appropriate radiation, the tensile strength of aramid fibers was not affected at all. © 2017 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. J. Appl. Polym. Sci. 2017, 134, 44924.

Al2O3·SiO2sf/Al–Cu composites with different Cu contents were successfully fabricated by squeeze casting. The wear test results show that friction coefficient of the composites decreases with increasing Cu contents. Moreover, the wear resisting property of the prepared composites firstly increases and then decreases with increasing Cu contents. In wear testing process, Al2O3·SiO2 fibers are firmly fixed in the matrix and formed the framework which can protect Al matrix from grinding. Therefore, the wear resistance of the composites is increased by addition of Al2O3·SiO2 fiber reinforcement. The main wear mechanism of Al2O3·SiO2sf/pure Al composite is adherence abrasion, while that of Al2O3·SiO2sf/Al–Cu composite is adhesive wear accompanied by abrasive wear.
