How does information management and control affect bank stability? Following a national bank holiday in 1933, New York state bank regulators suspended the publication of balance sheets of state-charter banks for two years, whereas the national-charter bank regulator did not. We use this divergence in policies to examine how the suspension of bank-specific information affected depositors. We find that state-charter banks experienced significantly less deposit outflows than national-charter banks in 1933. However, the behavior of bank deposits across both types of banks converged in 1934 after the introduction of federal deposit insurance.

This study designed and implements a biometric-based student information retrieval system using finger print recognition. The findings showed that the existing manual system is prone to lots of errors such difficulties in accessing records, wrong data entry, difficulties in data manipulation, identity management and difficulties in updating students’ records. Structured system analysis and design methodology was adopted for this research. The design and implementation of the developed application software showed that computerized student information retrieval system using biometrics greatly enhanced the documentation, manipulation and retrieval of student information in a more accurate, fast and secured manner.

The interest in digital identities has increased considerably in academia and practice in recent years. This can be seen by the many electronic identity projects worldwide and the numerous published studies that provide insightful narratives and descriptive case findings about success factors and barriers to the adoption of national authentication infrastructures. In this paper, we take a closer look to the role of trust on the design and implementation of a nation-wide e-credential market. We argue that trust in political and economic institutions can be an important factor to explain differences in the chosen cooperative arrangement which can range from monopolistic, purely state-controlled e-credential markets, to polypolistic, decentralized e-credential markets where also private vendors offer state recognized e-ID on their own or in partnership with the government. Following an inductive reasoning process, we develop three testable propositions which may inspire further empirical research and offer practitioners a new angle to rethink e-credential markets in the light of citizen trust in political and economic institutions.

Muitas organizações reconhecem a importância e aplicam a Gestão do Conhecimento (GC) para melhorarem o desempenho de suas atividades e obterem vantagens competitivas. Nas organizações públicas, em geral, sua adoção representa utilizar um modelo de gestão voltado para melhoria do cumprimento de sua missão. Antes da implementação da GC, as organizações devem realizar uma análise prévia quanto aos aspectos relacionados à dinâmica do conhecimento interno. Neste contexto, este estudo teve como objetivo identificar o grau de maturidade em GC em um Laboratório Farmacêutico Oficial (LFO), englobando as atividades de produção de medicamentos, pesquisa científica, desenvolvimento tecnológico e educação. Esta cadeia integra o cumprimento de sua missão institucional no Sistema Único de Saúde (SUS) brasileiro. Este trabalho foi classificado como qualitativo e quantitativo, de natureza exploratório-descritiva e aplicada, por meio de um estudo de caso. A coleta dos dados se deu por meio de entrevistas, adaptado do modelo de instrumento de avaliação da GC proposto por Batista (2012) no contexto do LFO. Este instrumento foi aplicado desde a alta gestão até ao nível operacional da instituição. Os resultados alcançados demonstram que o LFO apresenta o grau de maturidade no Nível 2 (Iniciação), o que indica que se reconhece a necessidade de gerenciar o conhecimento e a importância da GC e seus benefícios, a partir da aplicação de práticas e técnicas que permitam a gestão adequada do conhecimento no universo explorado. A contribuição desta pesquisa se dá como subsídio no aprimoramento da gestão organizacional para os LFO, como forma célere de identificar lacunas e oportunidades existentes na gestão do conhecimento institucional, além de servir como modelo para aplicação em outras indústrias farmacêuticas. Many organizations recognize the importance and apply Knowledge Management (KM) to improve the performance of their activities and obtain competitive advantages. In public organizations, in general, its adoption represents the use of a management model aimed at improving the fulfillment of their mission. Before implementation of KM, organizations must perform a prior analysis of aspects related to the dynamics of internal knowledge. In this context, this study aimed to identify the degree of maturity in KM in an Official Pharmaceutical Laboratory (LFO – Brazilian term), encompassing the activities of drug production, scientific research, technological development and education. This chain is part of the fulfillment of its institutional mission in the Brazilian Unified Health System (SUS - Brazilian term). This work was classified as qualitative and quantitative, of exploratory-descriptive and applied nature, by means of a case study. Data collection took place through interviews, adapted from the model of KM assessment instrument proposed by Batista (2012) in the context of the LFO. This instrument was applied from the top management to the operational level of the institution. The results achieved demonstrate that the LFO presents the maturity degree at Level 2 (Initiation), which indicates that it recognizes the need to manage knowledge and the importance of KM and its benefits, from the application of practices and techniques that allow the appropriate management of knowledge in the universe explored. This research contributes to the improvement of organizational management for LFO, as a quick way to identify gaps and opportunities existing in the management of institutional knowledge, besides serving as a model for application in other pharmaceutical industries.

Introducción: Se presenta un artículo de revisión acerca de la relación entre gestión de información y aseguramiento de la calidad en Instituciones de Educación Superior-IES. Objetivo: Analizar el sentido de correspondencia entre la gestión de la información y el aseguramiento de la calidad como fundamento para que las IES respondan efectivamente a los requerimientos informacionales actuales relacionados con la calidad. Metodología: La sistematización metodológica integra: selección temática, estrategias de búsqueda de información, clasificación y selección de fuentes y documentos, análisis documental, síntesis de información y construcción de texto (con una finalidad descriptiva e interpretativa). Resultados y discusión: Se genera un texto argumentativo en torno a categorías tales como: dispersión de los datos, conformación de información, trascendencia de dicho recurso hacia lo estratégico, relevancia de la capacidad humana, lo tácito, lo explícito y los sistemas de indicadores como instrumentos de captura y desarrollo de información (aunado esto a un ejemplo asociado a la función sustantiva de investigación). Die Dominanz von digitalem Content und Digitalisierungsmaßnahmen verändern die Berufswelt von Beschäftigten in Bibliotheken. Die dafür benötigten digitalen Kompetenzen erfordern ständige Adaptierungen in den Ausbildungsprogrammen. Allerdings unterliegen diese Ausbildungsprogramme mehreren Spannungsfeldern, um aktuelle Ausbildungsinhalte anbieten zu können. Unterschiedliche Spannungsfelder, unter anderem Spezialisierung vs. breite Wissensbasis, der Anteil an Informationstechnologien, eine Schwerpunktsetzung im Informationsmanagement oder der Bedarf an einem offenen, erweiterten Kompetenzspektrum werden diskutiert., The dominance of digital content and digitization are changing the professional world of library employees. The new and changed digital competencies require constant adaptations in the training programs. However, these programs are subject to several conflicts in order to be able to offer up-to-date teaching content. Different areas of conflict are discussed, including specialization vs. broad knowledge base, the amount of information technologies, a focus on information management, or the need for an open, broadened spectrum of competencies.

In-company training is facing new challenges in preparing employees for the demands of digitalized and automated manufacturing. New training concepts like microlearning are necessary to support work-process-related learning. To handle the limitations of microlearning, we develop a 360-degree learning system to demonstrate a realistic work environment. Nonetheless, there is a lack of design knowledge supporting the motivation and performance of employees using the system. Based on a systematic literature review and semi-structured interviews, we have developed design requirements for interactive 360-degree learning environments. We used a workshop-based mixed-method approach with interviews, concept maps, and video analysis to evaluate the motivation and performance of precision mechanics within a prototypical work-process-oriented learning environment in an inter-company vocational training center. The results show a positive effect on learning outcomes and motivation. In addition, the ease of use and sense of presence while using the learning environment are rated as high. We contribute to theory by shedding new light on learners' motivation and performance within work-process-oriented interactive 360-degree learning environments. Furthermore, we offer guidelines for developing such interactive 360-degree learning environments.

The article evidences the implementation of a mobile application to manage information on the consumption of vital liquids in the homes that make up the administrative board of drinking water of the Santa Fe parish. Such a computer system allows for improving collection services and records, updating water consumption and monthly charges data, viewing the geographical location of the meters on a map, and synchronizing user information in real time. The study is an empirical investigation of a descriptive type - application with a quantitative modality. For project management and software development, the agile Scrum methodology was used, which allowed the tasks to be executed effectively together with the client's active participation. The preliminary results reveal that the processes in the transport of the information were optimized from the meter reading carried out by the company employee to its billing (delivery of receipt to the consumer), reducing response times, for which previously they were carried out by through printed cards and notebook for later typing and printing. In other similar projects, they also state that the development and use of technological tools for collecting water bills increase the benefits and efficiency for administrators and clients of an administrative board of a cantonal or regional locality., El artículo evidencia la implementación de una aplicación móvil para la gestión de información sobre el consumo del líquido vital en los hogares que conforman la junta administradora de agua potable de la parroquia Santa Fe, tal sistema informático permite mejorar los servicios en la recolección, registros, actualización de datos sobre el consumo de agua y los cobros mensuales, visualiza la ubicación geográfica de los medidores en un mapa y sincroniza la información de los usuarios en tiempo real. El estudio realizado es una investigación empírica de tipo descriptivo – aplicativo con una modalidad cuantitativa, para la gestión del proyecto y desarrollo del software se empleó la metodología ágil Scrum que permitió ejecutar las tareas de manera eficaz conjuntamente con la participación activa del cliente. Los resultados preliminares revelan que se optimizo los procesos en el transporte de la información desde la lectura de medidores que realiza el empleado de la empresa hasta su facturación (entrega de recibo al consumidor) reduciendo los tiempos de respuestas, por lo que anteriormente lo realizaban a través de fichas impresas y cuaderno de apunte para su posterior digitación e impresión. En otros proyectos similares también manifiestan que el desarrollo y utilización de las herramientas tecnológicas para el cobro de las planillas del agua incrementa los beneficios y eficiencia tanto a los administradores y clientes de una junta administradora de una localidad cantonal o regional.

[ES] La capacidad de búsqueda y valoración de la información y el aprendizaje autónomo de estudiantes y profesionales son de gran relevancia en una sociedad en la que el conocimiento es amplísimo y se genera de forma muy rápida. Con objeto de trabajar estos aspectos relacionados con la competencia aprender a aprender (AaA) y la gestión de la información se desarrollaron materiales (documentación en texto y vídeos) y actividades formativas, que se implantaron en asignaturas del ámbito de la electrónica del Grado de Ingeniería Biomédica. En 3º curso con énfasis en la búsqueda y evaluación de la información y en 4º curso incorporando énfasis en la gestión de dicha información. Asimismo, se generaron rúbricas para la valoración de los aspectos más relevantes y se diseñaron sesiones de evaluación entre pares. Para valorar los resultados de las actividades y materiales desarrollados en este curso, se realizaron encuestas de autoevaluación de la competencia AaA en general, específicas de gestión de la información y sobre las propias actividades; además se realizó una sesión de ‘focus group’. Los resultados muestran una mejora en aspectos como su capacidad de buscar y seleccionar información para estudiar las asignaturas, el pensamiento crítico o en el manejo de TICs. Asimismo, los estudiantes realizan búsquedas de información de forma más habitual; también aumenta la frecuencia en que emplean herramientas para el refinado de búsqueda, repositorios especializados y contrastan la fiabilidad de la fuente. In order to work on these aspects related to the learning to learn (LtL) competence and information management, materials (documentation in text and videos) and training activities were developed and implemented in subjects in the field of electronics of the Biomedical Engineering Degree. In the 3rd course with emphasis on the search and evaluation of information and in the 4th course incorporating emphasis on the information management. Likewise, rubrics were generated for the assessment of the most relevant aspects and peer evaluation sessions were designed. To assess the results of the activities and materials developed in this course, self-assessment surveys were carried out on the LtL competence in general, information management in particular and on the activities themselves; in addition, a focus group session was held. The results show an improvement in aspects such as their ability to search for and select information to study the subjects, critical thinking or ICT management. Likewise, students search for information more frequently; it also increases the frequency with which they use search refinement tools, specialized repositories and verify the reliability of the source. In addition, the students show great satisfaction in general with the materials and activities and recommend their application in other courses and areas.

ZusammenfassungDatengetriebene Plattform Ökosysteme bilden eine Formalisierung und Automatisierung des Datenaustausches zwischen Unternehmen. Als solche stellen sie eine Technologie dar, durch dessen Verwendung Vorteile gegenüber eines herkömmlichen Datenaustausches (z. B. über Excel-Sheets und Emails) erzielt werden können. Jedoch sind Studien, die aus einer Ökosystem-Perspektive beleuchten, wie solche Plattformen mehrwert-optimiert gestaltet werden können, bislang unterrepräsentiert. Diese Forschungslücke soll innerhalb der vorliegenden Studie durch eine Datenerhebung in der Praxis geschlossen werden.In einer Interviewstudie mit 11 Vertretern aus deutschsprachigen, international tätigen Unternehmen wurden Organisationsteilnehmer des mittleren und gehobenen Managements zu ihrer Partizipation in datengetriebenen Plattformen befragt. Dabei liefert dieses Paper im Wesentlichen 3 Beiträge:1. Designfaktoren zur Wertmaximierung der Plattform-Teilnehmer wurden aus einer Ökosystem-Perspektive herausgearbeitet. Zusätzlich wurde ein Framework zur Auflistung und Kategorisierung wichtiger Designfaktoren angefertigt.2. Auf Grundlage der Literaturanalyse und Praxisdaten wurden zwei Thesen entwickelt, die spezifische Design-Anforderungen beschreiben, welchen im Rahmen der Datensammlung und -Auswertung besondere Beachtung zugesprochen wurde.3. Das Verständnis von Wertbildung im digitalen Raum wurde auf Datenaustausch-Plattformen erweitert.Die ersten beiden Beiträge dieses Papers adressieren Praktiker. Unternehmen sollen ermächtigt werden, zielgerichtete und informierte Entscheidungen im Bezug zur wertmaximierenden Gestaltung inter-organisationalen Datenaustauschs treffen zu können. Gleichzeitig soll mittels der zwei Thesen zu datengetriebenen Austauschplattformen eine Diskussion über ihre Rolle in der Praxis angestoßen werden. Der dritte Beitrag dieser Studie widmet sich dem akademischen Diskurs, da über die Erweiterung des Verständnisses von Wertbildung im digitalen Raum auf Datenaustausch-Plattformen eine Grundlage für die weitergehende Erforschung dieses Plattform-Typs geschaffen werden soll.

Objectives Mass spectrometry-based steroidomics combined with machine learning (ML) provides a potentially powerful approach in endocrine diagnostics, but is hampered by limitations in the conveyance of results and interpretations to clinicians. We address this shortcoming by integration of the two technologies with a laboratory information management systems (LIMS) model. Methods The approach involves integration of ML algorithm-derived models with commercially available mathematical programming software and a web-based LIMS prototype. To illustrate clinical utility, the process was applied to plasma steroidomics data from 22 patients tested for primary aldosteronism (PA). Results Once mass spectrometry data are uploaded into the system, automated processes enable generation of interpretations of steroid profiles from ML models. Generated reports include plasma concentrations of steroids in relation to age- and sex-specific reference intervals along with results of ML models and narrative interpretations that cover probabilities of PA. If PA is predicted, reports include probabilities of unilateral disease and mutations of KCNJ5 known to be associated with successful outcomes of adrenalectomy. Preliminary results, with no overlap in probabilities of disease among four patients with and 18 without PA and correct classification of all four patients with unilateral PA including three of four with KCNJ5 mutations, illustrate potential utility of the approach to guide diagnosis and subtyping of patients with PA. Conclusions The outlined process for integrating plasma steroidomics data and ML with LIMS may facilitate improved diagnostic-decision-making when based on higher-dimensional data otherwise difficult to interpret. The approach is relevant to other diagnostic applications involving ML.

Enterprise architecture management (EAM) is commonly employed by large organizations to coordinate local information system development efforts in line with organization-wide strategic objectives while simultaneously avoiding redundancies and inconsistencies. Even though EAM tools and processes have become increasingly mature over the past decade, many organizations still struggle to generate impact from their EAM initiatives. To this end, we describe how enterprise architects at Commerzbank, a major international bank, employed a control mechanism portfolio perspective to more effectively anchor EAM within the organization. This approach allows to purposefully combine a wide range of different formal and informal EAM control mechanisms, thereby going beyond the formal, topdown driven mechanisms predominantly discussed in EAM literature. Furthermore, such EAM control mechanism portfolios provide an effective means to purposefully realign EAM in reaction to major strategic shifts. The application of this perspective is demonstrated by tracing the evolution of EAM at Commerzbank for more than a decade (2008 to 2018) through a turbulent and challenging competitive environment, resulting in several major strategic realignments that required corresponding adjustments in EAM. We believe that such consciously designed and diversified EAM control mechanism portfolios also provide a useful means for other large organizations to more effectively conduct EAM.

In order to inform understanding of the public's health information management during the COVID-19 pandemic, we applied a modification of TMIM from a serial mediation model to a conditional process model (moderated mediation). In doing so, the current study attempted to refine some of the relational propositions of the original TMIM with a focus on efficacy while addressing the distinction between a mediator and a moderator in a behavioral decision model. Findings from an online survey of U.S. adults (n = 488) demonstrated that anxiety can positively motivate evaluation of information seeking during the COVID-19 pandemic context, a unique context of application for TMIM. Efficacy was found to be qualified as an individual difference variable that moderates the relationships of uncertainty perception and health decision. Our newly proposed conditional process framework of the TMIM opens research directions in health information-seeking and encourages researchers to continuously incorporate updated methodological thought and approach in applying and building communication theory.

Finding redundant requirements or semantically similar ones in previous projects is a very time-consuming task in engineering design, especially with multilingual data. Due to modern NLP it is possible to automate such tasks. In this paper we compared different multilingual embeddings models to see which of them is the most suitable to find similar requirements in English and German. The comparison was done for both in-domain data (requirements pairs) and out-of-domain data (general sentence pairs). The most suitable model were sentence embeddings learnt with knowledge distillation.

Purpose – The growing complexity of social systems and the faster technology evolution make central the role of the innovative information technology in complex organisations, geared towards collective intelligence processes among the various social actors and analytical tools. These are able to foster the participant knowledge, manage the feedback through a holistic approach and hence shift organisations from a plurality of voices to an interactive intelligence representing the ultimate identity of the organisation itself. In this regard, the aim of this paper is to offer a model for managing external and internal knowledge in order to support the viability of the organisation (system) in the longer term. Design/methodology/approach – The paper adopts the interpretative lens provided by Systems Thinking, System Dynamics and Viable System Approach (vSa) to investigate the challenging domain of the knowledge and information management for complex systems as organisations. Therefore, a qualitative and interpretative approach is carried out to reflect upon Big Data approaches and Collective Knowledge Systems (CKS), embracing a system perspective. Findings – The proposed conceptual model shows the crucial role covered by the holistic managing of the external and internal knowledge that permits to align the information variety of the organisation to the context and the entities that compose it in order to create harmonic relations. Leveraging on the concepts of vicariance, bricolage and exaptation, several advantages emerge that are correlated to the capacity of the complex system to reach a greater level of survival, by adapting and dynamically evolving itself. Originality/value – The paper shows how Systems Thinking and Viable System Approach can provide deep insights into the field of information technology, evidencing the systems thinking contribution in analysing, understanding and managing dimensions and paths of social dynamics. A contribution to previous studies is provided with reference to themes as Big Data, information and knowledge management.

In hospitals, one of the dominant issues is the development of an accurate and precise nursing management system which is hard to implement due to the various problems in the implementation of the traditional manual system. For this purpose, we are to solve the imperfect functions of the traditional nursing information management system and the strong subjectivity and low accuracy of the way of manually judging the patient’s condition. Firstly, the Immune Genetic Algorithm (IGA) is used to optimize the Backpropagation Neural Network (BPNN). A mortality prediction model using IGA-BPNN is proposed. Secondly, a nursing information management system for critically ill patients in neurosurgery is designed. The IGA-BPNN prediction model is used as a part of the system to predict the mortality of critically ill patients. Finally, the performance of the predictive model and the system is tested using the Medical Information Mart for Intensive Care (MIMIC)-III data set design experiment. The results show the following: (1) Precision, Recall, and F1-score of mortality prediction using the IGA-BPNN model are 7.2%, 7.2%, and 7.3% higher than those of other prediction models. The designed model has better performance. (2) The comprehensive performance of the system during operation can reach the standard. The researched content aims to provide important technical support for the nursing information management of critically ill patients in neurosurgery and the intelligent analysis of patients’ condition.

The goal of this work is to investigate the system configuration and information management of primary care delivery with electronic visits (e-visits). We consider a medical institution employing primary care physicians and other clinicians that offer office visits (in-person) and e-visits (through secure messaging from patient portals), and where different queue-joining behaviors: denoted as the mixed strategy, the duplication strategy and the threshold strategy are adopted by flexible patients based on different system configurations. Different queueing models are developed to capture flexible patients' queue-joining behaviors according to queueing information provision. In particular, we develop the equilibrium behavior of a dual server system where state information is available for one of the servers and the flexible patient exhibits a utility-maximizing behavior, which extends the literature on the analysis of queueing systems with strategic customers. The duplication strategy with deletion offers the least expected waiting time for the patients, and the threshold strategy provides the next best performance which is superior to the mixed strategy, which demonstrates the value of information. The image management function of picture archiving and communication system (PACS) plays a very important role while electronically preserving medical records. However, details of these mechanisms vary from manufacturer to manufacturer, which could be a problem if system specifications or image management functions are not confirmed by a user during system installation or operation. The purpose of this research was to record the differences in PACS settings and image data management in hospitals. A questionnaire survey was conducted in 261 hospitals having the PACS system in Hokkaido prefecture, Japan. Questionnaire contents consisted of a face sheet and the following two items: 1) PACS image deletion method, 2) rules regarding the PACS receiving an image of data that was already registered. Results of the questionnaire survey showed that the image deletion method in the PACS server, and the overwriting rule in case of existent images being re-transmitted to the server were different between different hospitals. Furthermore, these variations were not dependent on the vendors or manufacturers, but on the settings of each hospital. Since the image management method of PACS is not standardized, we were considered to be needed more attention and appropriate regulation for safe management of electronic medical records as per the national guideline.

The advancements in Internet of Things have augmented the importance of innovation and smart technologies, such as self-driving, self-monitoring, and self-controlling as key enablers for future intelligent transport system (ITS). In ITS, critical services such as rescue and disaster, medical emergency, etc., require an efficient route planning by considering performance parameters such as delay, energy, and service-level agreements during peak and off-peak hours. The ignorance of these performance parameters can lead to loss of life, or financial property, or service users. Therefore, Third Eye, a secure information management scheme is proposed by satisfying all the performance parameters as well as satisfying the trust metrics among the vehicles and devices. The proposed scheme is evaluated using various parameters such as qualifying service set mean route between the source and destination (as $s$ to $t$ ), average energy consumption for data transmission, average hop counts, probability of attack strength and error, end-to-end delay, and users query response. The performance results demonstrated the superior performance of the proposed scheme in comparison to the other state-of-the-art schemes.

A cloud computing passou por alguns questionamentos até a sua consolidação enquanto modelo computacional, algumas destas ainda não sanadas na sua totalidade, mas fator que não tem impedido a sua disseminação, pois os benefícios se sobressaem. Na ambiência organizacional, este aspecto é percebido pela possibilidade de redução do investimento em suporte de tecnologias de informação e comunicação em detrimento de suportes convencionais, ou seja, investimento nos centros de dados próprios. Este estudo se caracteriza como exploratório e adota a pesquisa bibliográfica como método, o estudo resulta na proposta de um modelo que colige a cloud computing e a gestão da informação. O estudo evidencia que a computação em nuvem pode ser uma alternativa efetiva para a gestão da informação, desde que seja considerado o pleno conhecimento das necessidades informacionais dos usuários, sendo este um fator crítico de sucesso para a correta gestão dos recursos de dados e informações tratados e organizados na nuvem. This study aims to present and discuss potentials of the evolution of cloud computing from the point of view of innovation and its adoption from the organizational prism. For such, disruptive innovation is adopted as a characteristic in the origin and dissemination of this computational concept to the market. The potential in changing the habits of users in terms of resources for storing data and information is the main reason for this characterization, especially in the impact on information management in organizations. Cloud computing has had some questioning until it’s consolidation as a computer model, some of these have not yet entirely resolved but a factor that has not prevented its spread because the benefits stand out. In the organizational environment, this aspect is perceived by the possibility of reducing the investment in support of Information and Communication Technologies in detriment of conventional support, that is, investment in the own data center. This study is characterized as exploratory and adopts bibliographic research as a method, the study results in the proposal of a model that combines cloud computing and information management. In the beginning of traditional roadmapping workshops, brainstorming activities are conducted so that experts can populate roadmap templates. However, when large groups are involved, information management and facilitation can become time-consuming and difficult. An alternative option for improving brainstorming with large expert groups is the individual collection of information before the workshop through interviews. This article analyzes three strategic roadmapping projects in which experts were engaged using a hybrid approach, based on interviews and workshops. Based on the data collected, this alternative design was assessed in terms of impact on roadmapping design, facilitation, and experts’ contribution. As a result, despite adding a relevant effort to roadmapping teams, the hybrid strategic roadmapping approach seems to better manage experts’ involvement. In addition, individual interviews are shown to support the effective data gathering in large groups of experts, leading to richer and focused workshops in terms of information, involvement of participants, and decision-making.

A pressure injury is a common and painful health condition, particularly among people who are elderly or surgical patients. In order to explore how to use the information management system to optimize the pressure injury management process of surgical patients, this work establishes an integrated pressure injury management information platform for surgical patients, which can effectively control the key links in the process and realize the multistep full-process monitoring of surgical patients from admission to discharge. A total of 578 patients before the operation of the information platform were selected as the control group (CG), and after the operation of the information platform, 662 cases became the observation group (OG). Various evaluation metrics are employed to evaluate pressure injury in terms of single-pass rate, high-risk pressure injury, transfer skin condition description matching rate, hospital pressure injury incidence, and incidence of pressure injury in surgical patients at various stages. The results showed that the qualified rate of the pressure injury assessment in the OG was 99.2%, the accuracy rate of high-risk pressure injury screening and reporting was 100.0%, and the matching rate of the transfer skin description was 100.0%, which was higher than that of the CG. The integrated pressure injury management information platform for surgical patients based on the information management system realizes the full, continuous, accurate, and dynamic evaluation and monitoring of patients’ skin. Furthermore, it can effectively improve the quality of pressure injury care and facilitate care management.

Intelligent agents (IAs) are permeating both business and society. However, interacting with IAs poses challenges moving beyond technological limitations towards the human-computer interface. Thus, the knowledgebase related to interaction with IAs has grown exponentially but remains segregated and impedes the advancement of the field. Therefore, we conduct a systematic literature review to integrate empirical knowledge on user interaction with IAs. This is the first paper to examine 107 Information Systems and Human-Computer Interaction papers and identified 389 relationships between design elements and user acceptance of IAs. Along the independent and dependent variables of these relationships, we span a research space model encompassing empirical research on designing for IA user acceptance. Further we contribute to theory, by presenting a research agenda along the dimensions of the research space, which shall be useful to both researchers and practitioners. This complements the past and present knowledge on designing for IA user acceptance with potential pathways into the future of IAs.

Circular construction practices and business models are considered essential to reduce the profound impact of the construction sector to the widening global circularity gap. However, practitioners and clients in Hong Kong have encountered profound challenges in integrating circular economy principles into modular construction projects. Therefore, this paper investigates the critical success factors for implementing circular modular construction projects. The research process comprised a focused literature review, consultation with subject matter experts, questionnaire survey of industry practitioners, mean score ranking, factor analysis, and fuzzy synthetic evaluation. The analyses revealed twenty-one significant success factors for integrating circular economy principles into modular construction projects in Hong Kong. The top five significant success factors include early design completion and freezing, early understanding and commitment of the client, effective leadership and support of a specialist contractor, adequate knowledge and experience of the project team, and collaborative working and information sharing among project teams. These underscored the significance of the planning and design stages for implementing circular modular construction projects successfully. Further analysis derived three clusters of the significant success factors: effective supply chain management, competence and early commitment, and collaboration and information management, explaining 61.461% of the total variance. A fuzzy synthetic evaluation showed that these three clusters significantly influence the success of circular modular construction projects. The paper provided practical and technical guidance on how to implement circular modular construction projects effectively. Therefore, this paper provides some important insights into the critical success factors for integrating circular economy objectives into circular modular construction projects.

In capital-intensive industries, the management and optimization of the work in daily maintenance and turnaround maintenance is a significant area requiring attention. Especially the increasing collaboration with external companies call for better understanding on how information should be exploited in daily maintenance management and in shutdown planning, and what challenges the companies encounter. In this paper, we propose a framework for data-driven maintenance planning and problem solving, and integrate reliability and maintenance management processes in this framework. We also apply the framework to practical examples and illustrate the benefits expected to arise from using the proposed framework in empirical case studies. The concept of a maintenance community as a form of advanced collaboration sets a reference for current practices. Exchange of information and collaborative processes are in the core of such communities.

Building information modelling (BIM) technology has been focusing on the creation, sharing and use of a comprehensive digital twin of the facility under construction or renovation. It is believed that a more comprehensive, structured and complete model would be better. The aim of this paper and the underlying research is to reaffirm the view that the essence of information is to inform the user and that the main purpose of information models is that they are informative – that they contain the necessary information. Parsimonious information is information that is necessary but as simple as possible. Our hypothesis is that in many cases simpler models could be more useful, as they do not introduce technological barriers with the usually involved low- and medium-level contractors. One such case is the energy retrofitting of existing buildings. Many public and residential buildings with poor energy performance are located all over the world, especially in Eastern and Central Europe, as well as in China. They are an efficient target for a significant improvement in their energy performance by improving the building envelope and openings. The paper presents an economical process model for the modernisation of existing buildings. This model provides a basis for a parsimonious product model, which is currently under development. The broader objective of the research presented is to examine cases where a heavy information model may not be necessary and where a detailed process definition – as described in the BIM implementation plan and related documents – would lead to over-specification that would limit the free dynamics of a workflow. Menijo, da bi bil celovitejši, bolj strukturiran in popoln model boljši. Namen tega prispevka in raziskave, na kateri temelji, je ponovno potrditi stališče, da je bistvo informacij obveščanje uporabnika in da je glavni namen informacijskih modelov, da so informativni - da vsebujejo potrebne informacije. Parsimonične informacije so informacije, ki so potrebne, vendar čim bolj preproste. Naša hipoteza je, da bi lahko bili v številnih primerih preprostejši modeli bolj uporabni, saj ne uvajajo tehnoloških ovir z običajno vključenimi izvajalci na nizki in srednji ravni. Eden od takih primerov je energetska prenova obstoječih stavb. Veliko javnih in stanovanjskih stavb s slabo energetsko učinkovitostjo je po vsem svetu, zlasti v vzhodni in srednji Evropi ter na Kitajskem. So u činkovit cilj za znatno izboljšanje njihove energetske učinkovitosti z izboljšanjem ovoja stavbe in odprtin. V članku je predstavljen ekonomski model procesa za posodobitev obstoječih stavb. Ta model je osnova za enostaven proizvodni model, ki se trenutno razvija. This paper presents an exploratory analysis to identify civil engineering challenges that can be addressed with further data sensing and analysis (DSA) research. An initial literature review was followed by a web-based survey to solicit expert opinions in each civil engineering subdiscipline to select challenges that can be addressed by civil engineering DSA research. A total of 10 challenges were identified and evidence of economic, environmental, and societal impacts of these challenges is presented through a review of the literature. The challenges presented in this paper are high building energy consumption, crude estimation of sea level, increased soil and coastal erosion, inadequate water quality, untapped and depleting groundwater, increasing traffic congestion, poor infrastructure resilience to disasters, poor and degrading infrastructure, need for better mining and coal ash waste disposal, and low construction site safety. The paper aims to assist the civil engineering research community in setting an agenda for data sensing and analysis research to address these challenges. © 2014 American Society of Civil Engineers.

New political objectives, emerging regulatory regimes for the digital sphere, and higher penalties for violations have intensified the pressure to develop lawful IT artefacts. As the adaptation of existing IT artefacts to new regulations can be expensive and arduous, a more attractive approach would be to design IT artefacts lawfully from the beginning. A major challenge is that the law is generally technology-neutral, and lawful design requires legal expertise throughout the development, which is costly and time consuming due to communication challenges between legal experts and developers. One possible approach to proactively consider IT regulations in the systems development is design patterns that convey legal design knowledge and support developers in determining the appropriate design options. Consequently, we develop a framework for lawful design patterns and demonstrate their feasibility and advantages using the example of developing AI-based assistants and the regulation of the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR). Using the design pattern framework, we develop design patterns for lawful AI-based assistants and evaluate them using (a) an experimental approach to show the usefulness of the patterns for developers and (b) rely on a legal simulation study to holistically evaluate how design patterns contribute to lawful IT.

Information exchange is regarded as a vital component of crisis management, yet organizations continue to struggle with the timely distribution of information across organizational and professional boundaries in a crisis. In this chapter, we reflect on the doctrine of “netcentric operations” in the Netherlands, which has been implemented to enhance the quality and speed of information exchange in distributed crisis management networks. First, we provide an overview of the principal tenets of netcentric operations: self-synchronization, distributed sensemaking, information superiority, transparency, and connectivity. Next, we highlight five key challenges from a decade of operations: (1) how to codify and make sense of information; (2) how to foster goal-directed collaboration; (3) how to enable collaborative decision-making; (4) how to overcome a reluctance to share information; and (5) how to maintain functionality in extensive distributed networks. Finally, we specify future directions to improve connectivity and transparency and reflect on finding an alternative for self-synchronization.

IT support is under growing pressure to ensure efficient, flexible, and scalable use of digital technologies (Kumbakara, 2008). As a result, technical support staff is affected by monotonous work and work overload (Schmidt et al., 2022). Our research aims to augment the precarious workplace of support agents with artificial intelligence (AI). To incorporate an employee-centered perspective a priori and ensure positive impacts, we propose a framework for combining work design theory (e.g. Demerouti et al., 2001) and design science theory (Peffers et al., 2007, Niehaves & Ortbach 2016). The advances in AI promise to leverage large potential in optimizing and enhancing service processes and workplaces (Huang & Rust, 2018, de Keyser, 2019). Introducing AI into service processes, imply effects on work characteristics (Larivière et al., 2017). By combining human and artificial intelligence we propose hybrid intelligence (Dellermann et al., 2019) as a suitable solution for mitigating the persistent issues of support workers and the possible negative impacts of AI. To a great extent, IS research emphasizes the implied impacts of AI use in workplaces (Verma & Singh 2022, Wang et al., 2020). As such, work design models are widely used to empirically evaluate the impacts of AI design (Sturm & Peters, 2020), but are rarely utilized to substantiate the design of AI-augmented work systems. Only Poser et al. (2022) and Zschech et al. (2021) recently applied such models. The goal of this paper is to overcome the lack of work design in design science research (DSR) for AI-based systems and to steer the development into desired socio-technological configurations. The here presented work is expected to answer : How can work design theory inform the design of AI-augmented workplaces? RQ1 How should a hybrid intelligence system be designed to augment IT support agents’ workplaces by incorporating work design theory? RQ2 To systematically design the integration of AI, we make use of the DSR paradigm (Peffers et al., 2007). We first interview support agents and utilize the organizing move theory of Pentland (1992) and the technical support work theory of Das (2003) to ensure relevance. Based on a review of the IS literature on work design theories, we then derive a preliminary theoretical framework (Paul & Benito, 2018) RQ1. The framework represents a kernel theory for the development of meta design requirements. Contributing to the second research question, we design and subsequently evaluate the augmentation based on work-related outcomes RQ2.

Various processes are carried out in the Soil and Fertilizer Department of the Ministry of Agriculture at Granma's province in Cuba, including information management for investment approval. In response to these needs, in this investigation, an informatics system is developed that will enrich the management of the information for the approval of investments of Soils and Fertilizers in Granma. For the development of the system was utilized as methodology of development of software Extreme Programming (XP). PHP 7.3.3 and SQL as server-side, client-side programming languages HTML 5, CSS 3, JavaScript and JQuery 1.2.2. APACHE 2.4.38 web application server, MySQL 5.0.12 as Database manager, CodeIgniter 3.1.10 as Framework and DBDesigner 4 as an aid to database modeling. As a result of investigation, a system validated by means of proofs of software was obtained, which vouch for his correct functioning. Apresenta o diagnóstico do nível de transparência dos municípios da Região Metropolitana do Recife conforme determinam as legislações vigentes sobre o tema. Metodologicamente, emprega o estudo descritivo nos portais de transparência das 15 cidades da Região Metropolitana do Recife e aplica um protocolo de avaliação contendo 60 itens, divididos em três categorias: avaliação do conteúdo dos portais, avaliação do sítio eletrônico e avaliação dos princípios básicos dos dados abertos. Os resultados apontam que, em relação ao conteúdo dos portais, observa-se maior cumprimento da disponibilização dos dados sobre despesas do que sobre receitas, sendo 79,6% a média de cumprimento dos itens; quanto à avaliação dos sítios eletrônicos, a média geral do nível de transparência foi de 75,8%; e quanto aos princípios básicos dos dados abertos, a média geral de atendimento foi de 82%. O município melhor colocado no ranking de transparência foi o município de Recife e o pior colocado foi o município de São Lourenço da Mata. A média geral do nível de transparência dos municípios da Região Metropolitana do Recife, considerando a avaliação dos 60 itens das três categorias, foi de 79,1%. Conclui-se que há cumprimento parcial dos itens avaliados, demonstrando que os municípios precisam melhorar a publicação de dados governamentais e que há possibilidades de atuação dos gestores de informação para aperfeiçoamento dos portais em termos de usabilidade e disponibilidade das informações para proporcionar mais transparência sobre as ações públicas., It presents the diagnosis of transparency level of municipalities in the Metropolitan Region of Recife, as determined by the current legislation on the subject. Methodologically, it uses descriptive study in transparency portals of the 15 cities in the Metropolitan Region of Recife, and applies an evaluation protocol containing 60 items, divided into three categories: evaluation of portals’ content, evaluation of the website, and evaluation of the principles of open data. The results show that, in relation to the content of the items, there is a greater compliance with the availability of data on revenue expenses, with 79.6% being the average of compliance within the items; regarding the evaluation of electronic sites, the general average level of transparency was 75.8%; as for the basic principles of open data, the overall average of conformity was 82%. The municipality best placed in the transparency ranking was Recife, and the worst placed was São Lourenço da Mata. The overall average level of transparency in the municipalities of the Metropolitan Region of Recife was 79.1%, considering the assessment of the 60 items in the three categories. It concludes that the partial fulfillment of the items demonstrates that the municipalities need to improve the publication of government data, and that there are possibilities for action by information managers to enhance the portals in terms of usability and availability of information to provide more transparency about public actions

Medical information is private, and medical data are valuable for medical research. Thus, medical information sharing is challenging because the data might be manipulated improperly and revealed during the operational process. The accuracy and integrity of medical information should be guaranteed throughout the sharing process. Medical institutions require shared information for scientific research and development; however, the issue of privacy inhibits the sharing process. In this article, we propose a new business process and a blockchain-based platform for medical information sharing. Our method exploits the advantages of blockchain in medical information recording and sharing. Information can be stored, shared, and credibly verified among parties in the distributed network. In addition, we propose a new consensus algorithm and a universal anonymous sharing model. These methods improve the efficiency and security of medical information sharing between users. In this way, both the information and the traces of the transaction can be stored in a distributed manner to prevent manipulation and fraud. Consequently, the value of medical information can be fully utilized.

BACKGROUND Cancer care is complex, involving highly toxic drugs, critically ill patients, and various different care providers. Because it is important for clinicians to have the latest and complete information about the patient available, this study focused on patient safety issues in information management developing from health information technology (HIT) use in oncology ambulatory infusion centers. OBJECTIVE The aim was to exploratively and prospectively assess patient safety risks from an expert perspective: instead of retrospectively analyzing safety events, we assessed the information management hazards inherent to the daily work processes; instead of asking healthcare workers at the front line, we used them as information sources to construct our patient safety expert view on the hazards. METHODS The work processes of clinicians in three ambulatory infusion centers were assessed and evaluated based on interviews and observations with a nurse and a physician of each unit. The 125 identified patient safety issues were described and sorted into thematic groups. RESULTS A broad range of patient safety issues was identified, such as data fragmentation, or information islands, meaning that patient data are stored across different cases or software and that different professional groups do not use the same set of information. CONCLUSIONS The current design and implementation of HIT systems do not support adequate information management: clinicians needed to play very close attention and improvise to avoid errors in using HIT and treat cancer patients safely. It is important to take the clinical front-end practice into account when evaluating or planning further HIT improvements.

Amaç: Bu çalışmada, blockchain teknolojileri konusunda internet üzerinde içerik yayınlayan bir platformun içerik analizi yapılmıştır. Araştırmanın amacı, platformun Facebook’ta paylaştığı içerikler için başlık bazında okunma oranını etkileyen faktörlerin (kelime ve kelime gruplarının) tespit edilmesidir. Yöntem: Araştırma sınırlılıkları kapsamında belirlenen tarih aralığında yayınlanan 2206 içerikten 500 tanesi rastgele seçilmiştir. İçeriklerin başlıkları Python programlama dili kullanılarak bu çalışmadaki probleme özel olarak farklı bir yaklaşımla ve standart metin madenciliği teknikleriyle çözümlenmiş ve metinler üzerinden yapısallaştırılmış iki farklı veri kümesi elde edilmiştir. Elde edilen iki farklı veri kümesi üzerinde çoklu doğrusal regresyon yöntemi kullanılarak analizler gerçekleştirilmiştir. Bulgular: Analizler sonucunda içerik başlıklarında kullanılan bazı kelime ve kelime gruplarının, içeriklerin okunma oranını etkilediği tespit edilmiştir. Ayrıca uygulanan farklı yaklaşımın standart metin madenciliği tekniklerine göre daha yüksek performans sağladığı belirlenmiştir. Sonuç: Araştırmada ham veri işlenerek değerli bilgiler elde edilmiştir. Teorik olarak ortaya çıkarılan bilgiler, uygulama pratiğiyle karşılaştırılmış ve tutarlı sonuçlar elde edildiği gözlemlenmiştir. Uygulanan farklı yaklaşımın etkili bir şekilde benzer metin madenciliği problemlerinde kullanılabileceği saptanmıştır. Bu yönüyle çalışma özgün bir nitelik taşımaktadır., Purpose: In this study, a content analysis of a platform that publishes content on the internet about blockchain technologies was made. The study aims to determine the factors (word and word string) affecting the reading rate of the digital content -on a titles basis- posted by the platform on Facebook.Method: 500 out of 2206 examples of content published between the specified dates were chosen randomly. The titles of the content were processed using standard text mining techniques and a new approach specific to the problem in this study on python programming language and then two different datasets were collected. The datasets were analysed using multiple linear regression.Findings: As a result of the analysis, it was discovered that some words and phrases used in the content titles affected the reading rate of the content. In addition, it has been determined that the new approach provides higher performance than standard text mining techniques.Implications: In this study, valuable information was obtained by processing raw data. As a result of the study, the theory was compared with the practice, and it was observed consistent results. It is determined that the new approach can be used effectively in similar text mining problems.Originality: The research relying on text mining was handled with a new approach on the basis of the content title. In this respect, the study has a unique quality.

Purpose: Rapidly developing information technology increases expectations for obtaining much more efficient structures by providing accurate, sufficient and secure information sharing in supply chains as well as in many other fields. Traceability is a critical element in supply chain management, especially in security-sensitive sectors such as food, medicine, etc. Blockchain is a decentralized record platform that provides traceability, transparency and security, and it shows promise in alleviating traditional supply chain management problems and making a positive contribution. This article aims to improve the relevant literature by revealing the level of impact of blockchain technology on supply chain management.Methodology: First of all, a traditional closed-loop supply chain (CLSC) network was designed and modeled. Then, the main model was developed by creating four more scenarios for different applications of the blockchain technology to the existing model and the application results were analyzed.Findings: This paper demonstrated the implementation of blockchain technology in forward and reverse flows activities coordination for effective and efficient supply chain management, and the resulting gains by developing appropriate models through explanatory scenarios. The implications showed that blockchain technology could significantly reduce supply chain costs.Originality: While blockchain technology is gaining attention, there are very few studies focused on its integration into the supply chain. Over the last decade, e-government has evolved tremendously from being a problem in itself to a cross-cutting transformational issue that supports governments' ability to deliver on promises. Defined differently by different actors, e-government usually refers to the use of information and communication technologies to change the relationship between citizens, businesses and different branches of government. This involves much more than just translating government services to digital platforms. Rather, e-government has become a form of interaction between government and non-governmental stakeholders. It is a process that requires a common government (or interagency) strategy, planning, resources, and political will. It is now important for governments to look at their achievements, identify and focus on the medium- and long-term issues that will emerge in the next decade. E-government basically uses information and information technologies and entails the development of e-services and the provision of quality information to citizens. It also seeks to increase transparency and accountability and create effective public institutions. This development has led to an increase in the amount of information that government agencies need to collect, send and pluralize. European governments are encouraged to invest in the development of e-government and provide citizens with access to their information flows. Europe has adopted the Public Sector Information Directive because it is seen as a resource that can stimulate innovation and national development. Governments around the world are enacting freedom of information laws to facilitate access to government information. However, it will also require a robust information management structure that includes archiving and recording information, common specifications to facilitate the exchange of information between government agencies, business process analysis to identify important information, and management of the entire information contingent. This study is aimed at revealing legal approaches to e-government, the concept of e-government in Ukraine and the world, tools for the introduction of the digital state, as well as the prospects and transition of the state apparatus in real time.

In a nursing home, the elderly gets health services to support their daily life. These services are documented and reported periodically to elderly families. In addition to managing information about nursing services, there is other information that must also be managed properly to help the smooth operation of the nursing home. To support the information management process, reliable software is needed to have the functions and benefits that are in accordance with the needs. One of the supporting components that contribute to building good software is interface design. This study will discuss the design of nursing home service application interfaces that have fields, characteristics, and functions that are different from other fields, especially the field of special health services for the elderly. The purpose of this study is to provide an overview and insight to desktop, mobile, and web application developers regarding aspects of designing an interface that is acceptable to system users in nursing homes. This will certainly make it easier for developers to produce good and acceptable software. The design of the interface is carried out using the Human-Centered Design (HCD) method which applies a user-focused design approach so that it makes it easy to understand what their needs are. There are several stages in HCD, namely the stage of identifying and determining the context of the user (Understand and specifying the context of use), the stage of identifying user requirements (Specifying the user requirements), the stage of producing design solutions (Producing design solutions) and the stage of evaluating the design (Evaluating the design). This research produces an interactive and easy-to-use interface design because the testing process uses a prototype as a demonstration tool. The test results using the End User Computing Satisfaction (EUCS) method show that 88.25% of users are satisfied with the design made and in line with the needs of users in a nursing home.

PurposeThe fuel retailing landscape in India is undergoing a structural shift with the reforms undertaken by the government that would help the private and foreign firms to enter this market. India is poised to become the world's largest growth market for energy by the mid-2020s. IoT has become an integral digital technology for the fuel retailers in the retail oil outlet (ROO) ecosystem. The purpose of this paper is to develop an Internet of Things (IoT) business model for the Indian oil marketing companies (OMCs') ROOs.Design/methodology/approachUsing literature review along with a survey among 660 respondents led to 402 valid observations, and the variables that contributed to IoT adoption at the OMCs' ROOs were identified. Using the BMC tool (Osterwalder and Pigneur, 2009), the relative importance of the variables within each building block was established. The means of all the variables were measured against the average of all the variables, and significant differences were searched for in each block. The notable differences of the means along with significant high and low means were highlighted.FindingsThis paper depicts empirical research that led to a framework of an IoT business model for Indian public sector ROOs. It also represents the usefulness of the Technology-Organization-Environment framework at the OMCs ROOs and extends the literature by incorporating “data security” to the existent framework of technology, organization and environment within the IoT ecosystem.Research limitations/implicationsThe outcome of the research should be analysed in the Indian context as all the respondents were from India. The study was conducted for the ROOs of Indian Oil Corporation Limited, Hindustan Petroleum Corporation Limited and Bharat Petroleum Corporation Limited and excluded their downstream operations. The dispensers in the OMCs vary along with their marketing strategies in the retail segments. The IoT business model can be customized for a particular OMC, which is scope of further research.Practical implicationsThe study has practical implications for those global fuel retailers embarking on the IoT adoption drive at their ROOs about the need to install “data security” measures in the connected IoT environment. The study provides insights on how the OMCs can stay ahead of competition in the Indian market vis-à-vis the private sector fuel retailers by embracing the IoT business model.Social implicationsThe new emerging technological business models provide competitive edge to those organizations adopting them (Barney, 1991; Clemons and Row, 1991; Feeny and Ives, 1990). The study will enable the OMCs to implement the IoT business model at their ROOs for enhancing their revenue streams and profitability and lowering of operating costs. The study provides insights on how the OMCs can stay ahead of competition in the Indian market vis-à-vis the private sector fuel retailers by embracing the IoT business model.Originality/valueThe contribution of the paper is that it is among the first to map the variables that contribute to IoT adoption at the OMCs' ROOs, within the building blocks of the BMC tool (Osterwalder and Pigneur, 2009), according to their importance. To retain their dominance and have a first-mover competitive advantage, this study enables the OMCs to adopt the IoT business model and transform their ROOs into Internet-connected intelligent fuel outlets.

Traditional information management approaches in distributed systems are most often unsuitable for modern Internet of Things (IoT) environments due to the huge amount and the extreme dynamism of the entities involved. Smart objects (enhanced devices or IoT services belonging to a smart system) interact and maintain relations which need of effective and efficient handling mechanisms better to meet users and services requirements. This paper proposes an agent-based algorithm for achieving a distributed resources organization in an IoT environment. Software agents, representing each a single smart object, execute a set of local computations simultaneously, enabling an organized structure to emerge at global level. A natural language processing approach, able to capture the semantic context and represent objects with high-dimensional vectors, was exploited to map the IoT objects, so enabling advanced agents’ operations. The emerging organized virtual structure, i.e. a similarity based overlay network of agents, allows building informed resource selection/discovery services, therefore more efficient, in a highly dynamic and, basically, unstructured environment. Preliminary results confirm the validity of the approach.

ZusammenfassungSocial Machines sind ein Paradigma für die Gestaltung soziotechnischer Systeme, die unter Verwendung von Web- und Plattformlösungen das Potenzial digitaler Technologien mit der Eigenlogik sozialer Interaktion, Organisation und Strukturbildung auf neue Weise zusammenführen. Im Folgenden diskutieren wir das Paradigma der Social Machine aus den Perspektiven der Informatik, der Wirtschaftsinformatik, der Soziologie und des Rechts, um Orientierungspunkte für seine Gestaltung zu identifizieren. Der Begriff ist in der Literatur jedoch bisher nicht abschließend definiert sondern nur durch Beispiele illustriert.In diesem Artikel stellen wir zunächst die folgende Definition zur Diskussion: Social Machines sind soziotechnische Systeme, in denen die Prozesse sozialer Interaktion hybrid zwischen menschlichen und maschinellen Akteuren ablaufen und teilweise algorithmisiert sind. Im Anschluss beleuchten wir drei aktuelle, sich gegenseitig bedingende Entwicklungen von Social Machines: die immer stärkere Verschmelzung von Sozialität und Maschine, die Vermessung von Nutzeraktivitäten als Grundstoff gesellschaftlichen Zusammenhalts und die zunehmende Algorithmisierung gesellschaftlicher Prozesse. Abschließend diskutieren wir, dass eine teilhabeorientierte, demokratischen Werten folgende Gestaltung von Social Machines die Perspektiven der Nutzungsakzeptanz, der gesellschaftlichen Akzeptabilität und der nachhaltigen Wirtschaftlichkeit adressieren und umsetzen muss.

Now, entering the 21st century, with the continuous improvement of my country’s higher education level, the enrollment rate of all colleges and universities across the country is increasing year by year. Faced with the information management of a large number of students, the workload and work pressure of consultants at various universities have doubled. The rapid and effective development of modern computer software and hardware has also initiated and effectively developed the informatization process of universities. The student management system is the core and foundation of the entire school education management system. This study mainly introduces the application of student behavior analysis and research models based on clustering technology. This paper uses the application research of student behavior analysis and research model based on clustering technology, uses clustering technology to analyze student behavior, and reasonably analyzes the feasibility of KMEANS algorithm and campus data mining. The cluster analysis algorithm is used to divide students into different groups according to the characteristics of the students, and then, data analysis and data association rules’ mining are performed on each group of students. At the same time, the decision tree algorithm is used to predict the future of students based on the historical data of the students and the current data of the students. The development status of the school helps the school to understand the situation of the students in real time, make predictions and warnings for possible situations, provide personalized applications for teachers and students, and provide decision-making support for the management. It can be seen from the experimental analysis that the application of student behavior analysis and research models based on clustering technology has increased the efficiency of student education by 17%. The limitations of student behavior analysis and research on clustering technology provide good applications for the KMEANS algorithm. Analysis, discussion, and summary of the methods and approaches are obtained to enrich the academic research results.

Existing research spanning academic and industrial literature shows that due to the ever-increasing number of descriptions of BIM on top of a saturation of standards methods and procedures, with little evidence on how to achieve goals for truly collaborative BIM, a gap is forming between theoretical and applied BIM, and thusly reducing the potential advantages and benefits of implemented BIM. Objectives set as part of this research, post systematic review of both academic and industrial literature were to firstly define a common meaning of what collaborative BIM is through the development of a syntax to support a hypothetical infrastructure project utilising academic and industry BIM experts. This was then followed by bringing to the front the inefficiencies in their current form and define how the fundamental parts of BIM are assigned and then prioritised both qualitatively and quantitively, in order to enhance information clarity (goals and objective achievement) and inconsistency reduction towards better ways of implementation. Conclusive findings derived from this research states that information management was determined by the focus group in being the key and top-level component in achieving collaborative BIM, which was determined via the contribution and development of an objective focused implementation framework adapted from the Analytical Hierarchy Process (AHP). This methodology increases the certainty of goal attainment for project team members, by presenting them with a dynamic qualitative and quantitative methodology that guides, determines and agrees the objective focus in an adaptable method through focal clarity of the intended use and what is required to be achieved through the adoption of collaborative BIM for a range of stakeholders. In summary, the research findings herein assert the need and benefit of objectifying collectively agreed focus on the desire of collaborative BIM including a range of stakeholders. Furthermore, inconsistencies towards agreements of standardisation and quality assurance are revealed, which is countered and supported by the developed novel methodology, in order to reduce the impact of such lack of consensus going forwards towards seeking better understanding and thus implementation of collaborative BIM.

The marketing literature has continued to examine trust and consumer privacy concern. A 1999 study that examined 17 industries found that improving trust and reducing privacy concern are two distinct approaches to managing consumer information, with the former being a more effective strategy than the latter (Milne & Boza, 1999). However, considering the shifting levels of consumer vulnerability due to technologies, managerial actions, and legal environment in the past two decades, a re-evaluation and extension of their findings is warranted. The current study uses a new and expanded dataset as well as new analytical techniques to re-examine the role of trust and privacy concern in managing consumer information. The new analysis shows that building trust still has a greater effect than reducing privacy concern on consumers' willingness to participate in information markets. Although trust and privacy concern have a negative relationship with each other, we find that privacy concern, paradoxically, is not negatively but positively related to direct marketing usage. This study also assesses the impact of trust and privacy concern across a typology for four quadrants of industries, the relationship of trust and concern with the managerial levels of transparency and control, and the moderating influence of age and sex.

In recent years, We Media’s chaotic behavior has emerged one after another. How to properly supervise We Media and effectively manage its violations has become an urgent problem in the process of national governance system and governance capacity building. From the three aspects of opportunity, motivation, and control methods, this paper analyzes the relevant stakeholders and their relationships in the process of We Media information dissemination. It constructs a tripartite evolutionary game model of government, We Media, and public participation, which focuses on the analysis of the equilibrium point of the game model and carries out simulation experiments to explore the influence of government responsibility constraints on the evolution results. The research results show that government regulation plays an important role in restricting We Media’s information release. When the government's willingness to regulate increases, We Media will be punished more if it violates rules. In order to reduce the cost of punishment and other factors, We Media will reduce the willingness to violate the rules. After the occurrence of social hot events, the public is more willing to be guided by positive information from We Media, prompting the government to choose strict supervision strategies, effectively reducing the violations of We Media and achieving the Pareto optimum. According to the research results, this paper puts forward reasonable countermeasures to realize the comprehensive governance pattern of noncompliance of We Media and correct guidance of public emotional cognitive behavior under responsibility constraints. The research results provide theoretical support and decision-making basis for We Media information management and control.

Building information modelling (BIM) has been adopted in the architectural heritage industry. The digital protection method with BIM Technology as the core can introduce the information management workflow into the protection of architectural heritage, which can provide possibility for the complete preservation of all kinds of information related to the architectural heritage, improve the efficiency of protection, and meet the management needs of the whole life cycle of the architectural heritage. This paper is based on digital technology and combined with the characteristics of architectural heritage to create a BIM model of architectural heritage. The Autodesk Revit software, which is commonly used in China, is used as the entry point, and the C# language is used to develop Revit to make up for the shortcomings of traditional architectural heritage protection. At the same time, all kinds of information related to the architectural heritage are completely preserved, improving the efficiency of protection work, and meeting the information management needs in the process of building heritage maintenance and management.
