The study aimed to determine if there is a significant relationship between multiple intelligence and learning. For this reason, the research was carried out in higher education. The type of research is applied, being the level of descriptive and correlational research. The research was cross-sectional; since the survey was carried out only once using the technique of the questionnaire and notes. The sample is simple random 48 students. Naturalistic intelligence was shown to be at the highest level of 3.3750; while interpersonal and emotional is 3.3125, musical is 3.2917; and the lowest is Kinesthetic-Corporal is 3.0833 and the general average is 3.2176. Therefore, multiple intelligences improve student learning; however, it is necessary that teachers take into account in their classes the naturalistic, interpersonal and emotional intelligences are the most representative. It was determined that more than 50% of the respondents are located at 3,0000, since the maximum is five, then it is favorable. Likewise, the most repeated times is 3.00 Likewise, 1.14854 scale units deviate from the average, because it is low it induces less data dispersion. Therefore, it is used in learning the multiple intelligences of the students. Finally, the calculated p value is 0.000, which is less than 0.01 (0.000< 0.001), so the null hypothesis is rejected and the alternative hypothesis is accepted. The rho coefficient is 0.852, which indicates that the relationship between the variables is direct and its degree is very high. In conclusion: It can be stated with 99% confidence that there is a very high positive relationship between the degree of multiple intelligences and the learning of university students.

The study aimed to determine if there is a significant relationship between self-esteem and academic performance. For this reason, research on self-esteem was carried out to improve academic performance in higher education. The type of research is applied, being the level of descriptive and correlational research. The research was cross-sectional, since the survey was carried out only once using the technique of the questionnaire and notes. The sample is simple random 56 students. It was shown that emotional and personal self-esteem occupies 64.3% (36) at the highest level; 21.4% (12) represent family self-esteem; 14.3% (8) is the minimum of the study. Therefore, self-esteem improves in the academic performance of students; however, it is necessary that teachers consider emotional and personal self-esteem in their classes. It was determined that more than 50% of the respondents are above 2.00, that is, they have a favorable attitude. On average, the subjects are located at 1.93 (favorable). Likewise, 0.599 scale units deviate from the average. Therefore, self-esteem benefits the student. Finally, it is concluded that there is an adequate significant relationship between self-esteem and the academic performance of university students, since 9.4877 > 4.445a; then, the null hypothesis is accepted and the alternative hypothesis is rejected, that is, it is favorable.

The objective of the study was to determine if there is a significant correlation between academic motivation and student learning. For this reason, research on academic motivation was carried out to improve the teaching and learning of university students. The study carried out is applied, being the level of descriptive-correlational research. The research was cross-sectional; since the CEAP48 Scale survey was applied only once; but only the EMAP-01 Learning Motivation Subscale was used, which consists of 24 statements and notes. The sample is a simple random of 46 students enrolled in the 2022-1 semester. It was shown that the application of academic motivation and learning occupies 71.7% (33) at the highest level in the performance motivation dimension. Therefore, motivation improves in learning; however, it is necessary for teachers to apply this didactic resource in their classes, since it is demonstrated in the results. It was determined that more than 50% of the respondents are above 3.96 in the mean, that is, they have a favorable attitude. On average, the subjects are located in superficial motivation. Likewise, 0.631 scale units deviate from the average. Therefore, the use of this resource benefits the student. Finally, it is concluded that there is an adequate significant relationship between the variables, due to a moderate correlation, that is, it is favorable.

Tujuan penelitian ini adalah untuk mengetahui pengaruh kreativitas produk, inovasi produk, dan kualitas produk terhadap kinerja UKM pada UKM pasar Jatinegara. Metode pengambilan sampel dalam penelitian ini menggunakan purposive sampling dengan instrumen yang digunakan adalah kuesioner. Penelitian ini dilakukan kepada 70 UKM pasar Jatinegara di bidang fashion. Teknik analisis data yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini adalah structural equation modeling dan dianalisis dengan menggunakan SmartPLS 4. Hasil penelitian ini menunjukkan bahwa kreativitas produk dan inovasi produk berpengaruh positif dan tidak signifikan terhadap kinerja UKM dan kualitas produk berpengaruh positif dan signifikan terhadap kinerja UKM. The purpose of this study was to determine the effect of product creativity, product innovation, and product quality on the performance of SMEs in the Jatinegara market SMEs. The sampling method in this study used purposive sampling, with the instrument used a questionnaire. This research was conducted on 70 Jatinegara market SMEs in the fashion sector. The data analysis technique used in this study is structural equation modeling and analyzed using SmartPLS 4. The results of this study indicate that product creativity and product innovation have a positive and not significant effect on SME performance, and product quality has a positive and significant effect on SME performance.

The sample is simple random 41 students enrolled in the 2022-1 semester, which constitute the study of the Professional School of Accounting-UNDC. It is shown that of the total number of respondents (the medium level predominates, that is, represented by 39.0% (16) perceives that the application of teamwork occupies 61.0% (25) at the highest level More than 50% of those surveyed are above 2.61, that is, they have a favorable attitude.The average of those surveyed is located at 2.61 (favorable).In addition, they deviate from the average by 0.494 units on the scale Finally, it is concluded that there is an adequate significant relationship between the variables, due to a moderate correlation of 0.738, that is, it is favorable.

Identifying and investigating protein-DNA interactions, which play significant roles in many biological processes, is essential for basic and clinical research. Current techniques for identification of protein-DNA interactions are laborious, time-consuming, and suffer from nonspecific binding and limited sensitivity. To overcome these challenges and assess protein-DNA interactions, we use a magnetic modulation biosensing (MMB) system. In MMB, one of the interacting elements (protein or DNA) is immobilized to magnetic beads, and the other is coupled to a fluorescent molecule. Thus, the link between the magnetic bead and the fluorescent molecule is established only when binding occurs, enabling detection of the protein-DNA interaction. Using magnetic forces, the beads are concentrated and manipulated in a periodic motion in and out of a laser beam, producing a detectable oscillating signal. Using MMB, we detected protein-DNA interactions between short GC-rich DNA sequences and both a purified specificity protein 1 (Sp1) and an overexpressed Buttonhead (BTD) protein in a cell lysate. The specificity of the interactions was assessed using mutated DNA sequences and competition experiments. The assays were experimentally compared with commonly used electrophoretic mobility shift assay, which takes approximately 4-72 h. In comparison, the MMB-based assay's turnaround time is ∼2 h, and it provides unambiguous results and quantitative measures of performance. The MMB system uses simple and cheap components, making it an attractive alternative method over current costly and time-consuming techniques for analyzing protein-DNA interactions. Therefore, we anticipate that the MMB-based technique will significantly advance the detection of protein-DNA interactions in biomedical research.

Obtaining a rapid etiological diagnosis for infants with early-onset rare diseases remains a major challenge. These diseases often have a severe presentation and unknown prognosis, and the genetic causes are very heterogeneous. In a French hospital network, we assessed the feasibility of performing accelerated trio-genome sequencing (GS) with limited additional costs by integrating urgent requests into the routine workflow. In addition to evaluating our capacity for such an approach, this prospective multicentre pilot study was designed to identify pitfalls encountered during its implementation. Over 14 months, we included newborns and infants hospitalized in neonatal or paediatric intensive care units with probable genetic disease and in urgent need for etiological diagnosis to guide medical care. The duration of each step and the pitfalls were recorded. We analysed any deviation from the planned schedule and identified obstacles. Trio-GS was performed for 37 individuals, leading to a molecular diagnosis in 18/37 (49%), and 21/37 (57%) after reanalysis. Corrective measures and protocol adaptations resulted in a median duration of 42 days from blood sampling to report. Accelerated trio-GS is undeniably valuable for individuals in an urgent care context. Such a circuit should coexist with a rapid or ultra-rapid circuit, which, although more expensive, can be used in particularly urgent cases. The drop in GS costs should result in its generalized use for diagnostic purposes and lead to a reduction of the costs of rapid GS.

't Hooft anomalies of quantum field theories (QFTs) with an invertible global symmetry G (including spacetime and internal symmetries) in a $d$d spacetime are known to be classified by a $d+1$d cobordism group TP$_{d+1}$(G), whose group generator is a $d+1$d cobordism invariant written as an invertible topological field theory (iTFT) Z$_{d+1}$. The deformation class of QFT is recently proposed to be specified by its symmetry G and an iTFT Z$_{d+1}$. Seemingly different QFTs of the same deformation class can be deformed to each other via quantum phase transitions. In this work, we ask which deformation class controls the 4d ungauged or gauged (SU(3)$\times$SU(2)$\times$U(1))/$\mathbb{Z}_q$ Standard Model (SM) for $q=1,2,3,6$ with a continuous or discrete $(\bf{B}-\bf{L})$ symmetry. We show that the answer contains some combination of 5d iTFTs: two $\mathbb{Z}$ classes associated with $(\bf{B}-\bf{L})^3$ and $(\bf{B}-\bf{L})$-(gravity)$^2$ 4d perturbative local anomalies, a mod 16 class Atiyah-Patodi-Singer $\eta$ invariant and a mod 2 class Stiefel-Whitney $w_2w_3$ invariant associated with 4d nonperturbative global anomalies, and additional $\mathbb{Z}_3\times\mathbb{Z}_2$ classes involving higher symmetries whose charged objects are Wilson electric or 't Hooft magnetic line operators. Out of $\mathbb{Z}$ classes of local anomalies and 24576 classes of global anomalies, we pin down a deformation class of SM labeled by $(N_f,n_{\nu_{R}},$ p$',q)$, the family and "right-handed sterile" neutrino numbers, magnetic monopole datum, and mod $q$ relation. Grand Unifications and Ultra Unification that replaces sterile neutrinos with new exotic gapped/gapless sectors (e.g., topological or conformal field theory) or gravitational sectors with topological or cobordism constraints, all reside in an SM deformation class. Objectives A blunted response of the hypothalamic-pituitary-adrenal axis immediately after exposure to traumatic events has been proposed as a risk factor for posttraumatic stress disorder (PTSD). Accordingly, administration of hydrocortisone in the aftermath of a traumatic event is indicated. This study consisted of a randomized, placebo-controlled, double-blind trial investigating whether a single intravenous dose of hydrocortisone administered within 6 hours after exposure to trauma would reduce the incidence of PTSD at the 13-month follow-up. Methods A total of 118 consented patients with acute stress symptoms were administered a single intravenous bolus of hydrocortisone/placebo within 6 hours of the traumatic event. Blood samples were taken before hydrocortisone administration. Results At 13 months, the hydrocortisone group did not differ from the placebo group regarding PTSD prevalence or symptom severity. However, a significant interaction between time of the trauma (ie, night, when cortisol’s level is low) and treatment was found. Specifically, a lower prevalence of PTSD was found at the 13-month follow-up in the hydrocortisone night group. Conclusions Administration of hydrocortisone within 6 hours of the traumatic event was not effective in preventing PTSD compared to placebo. However, nocturnal administration (when cortisol levels are low) may suggest a new venue for research.

Lattice regularization of chiral fermions has been a long-standing problem in physics. In this work, we present the density matrix renormalization group (DMRG) simulation of the 3-4-5-0 model of (1+1)D chiral fermions with an anomaly-free chiral U(1) symmetry, which contains two left-moving and two right-moving fermions carrying U(1) charges 3,4 and 5,0, respectively. Following the Wang-Wen chiral fermion model, we realize the chiral fermions and their mirror partners on the opposite boundaries of a thin strip of (2+1)D lattice model of multi-layer Chern insulator, whose finite-width implies the quantum system is effectively (1+1)D. By introducing carefully designed two sets of six-fermion local interactions to the mirror sector only, we demonstrate that the mirror fermions can be gapped out by the interaction beyond a critical strength without breaking the chiral U(1) symmetry, via the symmetric mass generation (SMG) mechanism. We show that the interaction-driven gapping transition is in the Berezinskii-Kosterlitz-Thouless (BKT) universality class. We determine the evolution of Luttinger parameters before the transition, which confirms that the transition happens exactly at the point when the interaction term becomes marginal. The most well-known mechanism for fermions to acquire a mass is the Nambu-Goldstone-Anderson-Higgs mechanism, i.e. after a spontaneous symmetry breaking, a bosonic field that couples to the fermion mass term condenses, which grants a mass gap for the fermionic excitation. In the last few years, it was gradually understood that there is a new mechanism of mass generation for fermions without involving any symmetry breaking within an anomaly-free symmetry group. This new mechanism is generally referred to as the "Symmetric Mass Generation (SMG)." It is realized that the SMG has deep connections with interacting topological insulator/superconductors, symmetry-protected topological states, perturbative local and non-perturbative global anomaly cancellations, and deconfined quantum criticality. It has strong implications for the lattice regularization of chiral gauge theories. This article overviews the recent developments in applying the idea of deconfined quantum criticality in condensed matter physics to understand quantum phase transitions among grand unified theories in high energy physics in the 4-dimensional spacetime. Genes belonging to neuroplasticity, monoamine, circadian rhythm, and transcription factor pathways were investigated as modulators of antidepressant efficacy. The present study aimed (1) to replicate previous findings in an independent sample with treatment-resistant depression (TRD), and (2) to perform a pathway analysis to investigate the possible molecular mechanisms involved. 220 patients with major depressive disorder who were non-responders to a previous antidepressant were treated with venlafaxine for 4–6 weeks and in case of non-response with escitalopram for 4–6 weeks. Symptoms were assessed using the Montgomery Asberg Depression Rating Scale. The phenotypes were response and remission to venlafaxine, non-response (TRDA) and non-remission (TRDB) to neither venlafaxine nor escitalopram. 50 tag SNPs in 14 genes belonging to the pathways of interest were tested for association with phenotypes. Molecular pathways (KEGG database) that included one or more of the genes associated with the phenotypes were investigated also in the STAR*D sample. The associations between ZNF804A rs7603001 and response, CREB1 rs2254137 and remission were replicated, as well as CHL1 rs2133402 and lower risk of TRD. Other CHL1 SNPs were potential predictors of TRD (rs1516340, rs2272522, rs1516338, rs2133402). The MAPK1 rs6928 SNP was consistently associated with all the phenotypes. The protein processing in endoplasmic reticulum pathway (hsa04141) was the best pathway that may explain the mechanisms of MAPK1 involvement in antidepressant response. Signals in genes previously associated with antidepressant efficacy were confirmed for CREB1, ZNF804A and CHL1. These genes play pivotal roles in synaptic plasticity, neural activity and connectivity.

Consumer perception through digital marketing has become one of the important factors in banking in the city of Batam to be known by marketers. Digital marketing at Rural Credit Banks (BPR) makes this possible to explore banner preferences for digital marketing, social media banking for digital marketing and prioritizing website banking for consumer perceptions through digital marketing from all banks in Batam City in part or thorough. The sample collection method is a quantitative approach (Quantitative Research) and qualitative with a purposive sampling technique on active banking customers in Batam City. This study reveals that the role of social media banking has a significant effect on digital marketing with an acceptance index of 69.5% which refers to the quite satisfactory category.

Fundamental properties of macroscopic gene-mating dynamic evolutionary systems are investigated. We focus on a single locus, any number of alleles in a two-gender dioecious population, for a large class of systems within population genetics. Our governing equations are time-dependent differential equations labeled by a set of genotype frequencies. Our equations are uniquely derived from 4 assumptions within any population: (1) a closed system; (2) average-and-random mating process (mean-field behavior); (3) Mendelian inheritance; (4) exponential growth/death. Although our equations are nonlinear with time-evolutionary dynamics, we have obtained an exact analytic time-dependent solution and an exactly solvable model. From the phenomenological viewpoint, any initial parameter of genotype frequencies of a closed system will eventually approach a stable fixed point. Under time evolution, we show (1) the monotonic behavior of genotype frequencies, (2) any genotype or allele that appears in the population will never become extinct, (3) the Hardy-Weinberg law, and (4) the global stability without chaos in the parameter space. To demonstrate the experimental evidence for our theory, as an example, we show a mapping from the data of blood type genotype frequencies of world ethnic groups to our stable fixed-point solutions. This fixed-point Hardy-Weinberg manifold, attracting any initial point in any Euclidean fiber bounded within the genotype frequency space to the fixed point where this fiber is attached. The stable base manifold and its attached fibers form a fiber bundle, which fills in the whole genotype frequency space completely. We can define the genetic distance of two populations as their geodesic distance on the equilibrium manifold. Narrow Band Internet of Things (NB-IoT) is the latest cellular radio access technology that was based on LTE technology and implemented as part of the 3GPP 3GPP 3GPP for Low-power Wide-area Network (LPWAN). The paper considers the features of NB-IoT standards based on the characteristics of the physical and channel layers of NB-IoT technology based on release 14-15 of the 3GPP group. The aim of this work is also to build and study a model for serving heterogeneous traffic in an isolated cell of the LTE standard, which supports the functionality of the Internet of Things IoT (Internet of Things), in particular eMTC (enhanced Machine Type Communication). The constructed mathematical model takes into account the heterogeneity of the arrival of requests and their dependence on the number of users of cellular services. Depending on the number of sources, incoming requests are described by Poisson or Engset models. The studied model makes it possible to dynamically allocate resources that have LTE.

Pengabdian ini merancang Photostock dengan mengimplementasikan Kerangka Scrum. dari hasil dokumentasi yang telah diedit menggunakan Adobe Photoshop dan Adobe Lightroom. Hasil dari pengabdian ini berupa 108 foto yang telah diserahkan kepada pihak sekolah, untuk kemudian diunggah ke dalam media sosial Sekolah Bodhi Dharma. Photostock ini telah membantu pihak sekolah sehingga dapat memberikan informasi yang akurat dan menarik tentang kegiatan sekolah dan fasilitasnya, dan hal ini menjadi strategi promosi Sekolah Bodhi Dharma. This Photostock has helped the school so that it can provide accurate and interesting information about school activities and facilities, and this has become a promotion strategy for Bodhi Dharma School. We prove that the boundaries of all nontrivial ($1+1$)-dimensional intrinsically fermionic symmetry-protected-topological phases, protected by finite on-site symmetries (unitary or antiunitary), are supersymmetric quantum mechanical systems. This supersymmetry does not require any fine-tuning of the underlying Hamiltonian, arises entirely as a consequence of the boundary 't Hooft anomaly that classifies the phase, and is related to a ``Bose-Fermi'' degeneracy different in nature from other well known degeneracies such as Kramers doublets.

Strong, electromagnetic, and weak forces were unified in the Standard Model with spontaneous gauge symmetry breaking. These forces were further conjectured to be unified in a simple Lie group gauge interaction in the grand unification. In this work, we propose a theory beyond the Standard Model and grand unification by adding new gapped topological phase sectors consistent with the nonperturbative global anomaly cancellation and cobordism constraints (especially from the baryon minus lepton number B−L, the electroweak hypercharge Y, and the mixed gauge-gravitational anomaly). Gapped topological phase sectors are constructed via symmetry extension, whose low energy contains unitary Lorentz invariant topological quantum field theories (TQFTs): either (3+1)D noninvertible TQFT (long-range entangled gapped phase), or (4+1)D invertible or noninvertible TQFT (short-range or long-range entangled gapped phase). Alternatively, there could also be right-handed neutrinos, or gapless unparticle conformal field theories, or their combinations to altogether cancel the mixed gauge-gravitational anomaly. We propose that a new high-energy physics frontier beyond the conventional 0D particle physics relies on the new topological force and topological matter including gapped extended objects (gapped 1D line and 2D surface operators or defects, etc., whose open ends carry deconfined fractionalized particle or anyonic string excitations). Physical characterizations of these gapped extended objects require the mathematical theories of cohomology, cobordism, or category. Although weaker than the weak force, topological force is infinite-range or long-range that does not decay in the distance, and mediates between the linked world volume trajectories via fractional or categorical statistical interactions.

We show how $1+1$-dimensional fermionic symmetry-protected topological states (SPTs, i.e., nontrivial short-range entangled gapped phases of quantum matter whose boundary exhibits 't Hooft anomaly and whose bulk cannot be deformed into a trivial tensor product state under finite-depth local unitary transformations only in the presence of global symmetries), indeed can be unwound to a trivial state by enlarging the Hilbert space via adding extra degrees of freedom and suitably extending the global symmetries. The extended projective global symmetry on the boundary can become supersymmetric in a specific sense, i.e., it contains group elements that do not commute with the fermion number parity ${(\ensuremath{-}1)}^{F}$, while the antiunitary time-reversal symmetry becomes fractionalized. This also means we can uplift and remove certain exotic fermionic anomalies (e.g., ``parity'' anomaly in time-reversal or reflection symmetry) via appropriate supersymmetry extensions in terms of group extensions. We work out explicit examples for multilayers of $1+1\mathrm{d}$ Majorana fermion chains, then comment on models with Sachdev-Ye-Kitaev (SYK) interactions, intrinsic fermionic gapless SPTs protected by supersymmetry, and generalizations to higher space-time dimensions via a cobordism theory.

Standard lore views our 4d quantum vacuum governed by one of the candidate Standard Models (SMs), while lifting towards some Grand Unification-like structure (GUT) at higher energy scales. In contrast, in our work, we introduce an alternative view that the SM arises from various neighbor vacua competition in a quantum phase diagram. In general, we regard the SM arising near the gapless quantum criticality (either critical points or critical regions) between the competing neighbor vacua. In particular, we demonstrate how the $su(3)\times su(2)\times u(1)$ SM with 16n Weyl fermions arises near the quantum criticality between the GUT competition of Georgi-Glashow (GG) $su(5)$ and Pati-Salam (PS) $su(4)\times su(2)\times su(2)$. We propose two enveloping toy models. Model I is a conventional $so(10)$ GUT with a Spin(10) gauge group plus GUT-Higgs potential inducing various Higgs transitions. Model II modifies Model I plus a 4d discrete torsion Wess-Zumino-Witten-like term built from GUT-Higgs field (that matches a nonperturbative global mixed gauge-gravity anomaly captured by a 5d invertible topological field theory $w_2w_3$), which manifests a Beyond-Landau-Ginzburg criticality between GG and PS models, with extra Beyond-the-Standard-Model (BSM) excitations emerging near a quantum critical region. If the internal symmetries were treated as global symmetries, we show a gapless 4d deconfined quantum criticality with new BSM fractionalized fragmentary excitations of Color-Flavor separation, and gauge enhancement including a Dark Gauge force sector, altogether requiring a double fermionic Spin structure named DSpin. If the internal symmetries are dynamically gauged, we show a 4d boundary criticality such that only appropriately gauge enhanced dynamical GUT gauge fields propagate into an extra-dimensional 5d bulk. Discrete spacetime symmetries of parity P or reflection R, and time-reversal T, act naively as $\mathbb{Z}_2$-involutions in the passive transformation on the spacetime coordinates; but together with a charge conjugation C, the total C-P-R-T symmetries have enriched active transformations on fields in representations of the spacetime-internal symmetry groups of quantum field theories (QFTs). In this work, we derive that these symmetries can be further fractionalized, especially in the presence of the fermion parity $(-1)^{\rm F}$. We elaborate on examples including relativistic Lorentz invariant QFTs (e.g., spin-1/2 Dirac or Majorana spinor fermion theories) and nonrelativistic quantum many-body systems (involving Majorana zero modes), and comment on applications to spin-1 Maxwell electromagnetism (QED) or interacting Yang-Mills (QCD) gauge theories. We prove that the boundaries of all nontrivial (1+1)-dimensional intrinsically fermionic symmetry-protected-topological phases, protected by finite on-site symmetries (unitary or antiunitary), are supersymmetric quantum mechanical systems. This supersymmetry does not require any fine-tuning of the underlying Hamiltonian, arises entirely as a consequence of the boundary 't Hooft anomaly that classifies the phase, and is related to a "Bose-Fermi" degeneracy different in nature from other well known degeneracies such as Kramers doublets.

Oxidative stress is associated with numerous health conditions and disorders, and aldehydes are known biomarkers of oxidative stress that can be non-invasively measured in exhaled human breath. Few studies report breath aldehyde levels in human populations, and none claim participant numbers in the hundreds or more. Further, the breath community must first define the existing aldehyde concentration variance in a normal population to understand when these levels are significantly perturbed by exogenous stressors or health conditions. In this study, we collected breath samples from 692 participants and quantified C4-C10 straight chain aldehyde levels. C9 aldehyde was the most abundant in breath, followed by C6. C4 and C5 appear to have bimodal distributions. Post hoc, we mined our dataset for other breath carbonyls captured by our assay, which involves elution of breath samples onto a solid phase extraction cartridge, derivatization and liquid chromatography-quadrupole time of flight mass spectrometry (LC-qTOF). We found a total of 21 additional derivatized compounds. Using self-reported demographic factors from our participants, we found no correlation between these breath carbonyls and age, gender, body mass index (BMI), ethnicity or smoking habit (tobacco and marijuana). This work was preceded by a small confounders study, which was intended to refine our breath collection procedure. We found that breath aldehyde levels can be affected by participants' using scented hygiene products such as lotions and mouthwashes, while collecting consecutive breath samples, rinsing the mouth with water, and filtering inspired air did not have an effect. Using these parameters to guide our sampling, subjects were instructed to avoid the prior conditions to provide a breath sample for our study.

Transcription factors encoded by Homeobox (HOX) genes play numerous key functions during early embryonic development and differentiation. Multiple reports have shown that mis-regulation of HOX gene expression plays key roles in the development of cancers. Their expression levels in cancers tend to differ based on tissue and tumor type. Here, we performed a comprehensive analysis comparing HOX gene expression in different cancer types, obtained from The Cancer Genome Atlas (TCGA), with matched healthy tissues, obtained from Genotype-Tissue Expression (GTEx). We identified and quantified differential expression patterns that confirmed previously identified expression changes and highlighted new differential expression signatures. We discovered differential expression patterns that are in line with patient survival data. This comprehensive and quantitative analysis provides a global picture of HOX genes&rsquo, differential expression patterns in different cancer types.

By developing a generalized cobordism theory, we explore the higher global symmetries and higher anomalies of quantum field theories and interacting fermionic/bosonic systems in condensed matter. Our essential math input is a generalization of Thom-Madsen-Tillmann spectra, Adams spectral sequence, and Freed-Hopkins's theorem, to incorporate higher-groups and higher classifying spaces. We provide many examples of bordism groups with a generic $H$-structure manifold with a higher-group $\mathbb{G}$, and their bordism invariants --- e.g. perturbative anomalies of chiral fermions [originated from Adler-Bell-Jackiw] or bosons with U(1) symmetry in any even spacetime dimensions; non-perturbative global anomalies such as Witten anomaly and the new SU(2) anomaly in 4d and 5d. Suitable $H$ such as SO/Spin/O/Pin$^\pm$ enables the study of quantum vacua of general bosonic or fermionic systems with time-reversal or reflection symmetry on (un)orientable spacetime. Higher 't Hooft anomalies of $d$d live on the boundary of $(d+1)$d higher-Symmetry-Protected Topological states (SPTs) or symmetric invertible topological orders (i.e., invertible topological quantum field theories at low energy); thus our cobordism theory also classifies and characterizes higher-SPTs. We introduce a web of strongly correlated interacting 3+1D topological superconductors/insulators of 10 particular global symmetry groups of Cartan classes, realizable in electronic condensed matter systems, and their new S U ( N ) generalizations. The symmetries include S U ( N ) , S U ( 2 ) , U ( 1 ) , fermion parity, time reversal and relate to each other through symmetry embeddings. We overview the lattice Hamiltonian formalism. We complete the list of field theories of bulk symmetry-protected topological invariants (SPT invariants/partition functions that exhibit boundary ’t Hooft anomalies) via cobordism calculations, matching their full classification. We also present explicit 4-manifolds that detect these SPTs. On the other hand, once we dynamically gauge part of their global symmetries, we arrive in various new phases of S U ( N ) Yang–Mills (YM) gauge theories, analogous to quantum spin liquids with emergent gauge fields. We discuss how coupling YM theories to time reversal-SPTs affects the strongly coupled theories at low energy. For example, we point out a possibility of having two deconfined gapless time-reversal symmetric S U ( 2 ) YM theories at θ = π as two distinct conformal field theories, which although are secretly indistinguishable by correlators of local operators on orientable spacetimes nor by gapped SPT states, can be distinguished on non-orientable spacetimes or potentially by correlators of extended operators.

OBJECTIVE: Prospective studies have not identified a viable pharmacologic strategy for secondary prevention of posttraumatic stress disorder (PTSD). The authors examined whether preventive intervention via early and short-term administration of a selective serotonin reuptake inhibitor (SSRI), within 1 month of exposure to a traumatic event (before diagnosis of PTSD could be made), may reduce the severity of PTSD symptoms according to DSM-IV at 13 months' follow-up. METHODS: Over 25,000 screening calls to patients referred to an emergency department for a traumatic event performed between June 2006 and December 2008 yielded 353 participants who were recruited within the month following a traumatic event. Participants were randomly assigned in a double-blind design to escitalopram (n = 176) or placebo (n = 177). The per-protocol analysis comprised 198 participants (escitalopram, n = 102; placebo, n = 96) who received treatment for 12 to 24 weeks and were available for follow-up at week 56. RESULTS: The primary outcome measure, the Clinician Administered PTSD Scale (CAPS), revealed no prevention effect. However, a secondary outcome, the Pittsburgh Sleep Quality Inventory (PSQI), showed better results for the SSRI group than for the placebo group. For a subset of participants who experienced intentional trauma (missile attacks, rape, or physical assault; n = 50), the prevention effect was found on both primary and secondary measures (CAPS, PSQI and measures of depression and global illness severity). CONCLUSIONS: Early and short-term administration of escitalopram was not shown to prevent PTSD, although it did improve sleep quality. In a subgroup of participants who experienced intentional trauma, however, this early-treatment approach may be effective as secondary prevention. This large study is the first to investigate the preventive effect of early administration of escitalopram on PTSD. IntroductionTelepsychiatry (TP) can provide an alternative to traditional face-to-face (FTF) assessments. However, TP in the emergency room setting is much less prevalent, probably due to lack of solid evidence about its effectiveness and acceptability.ObjectivesTo directly compare traditional FTF and TP modalities in the emergency room setting.MethodsPsychiatric patients (n=38) presented to the emergency room went through traditional in-person and videoconference TP interviews in varying order. Both FTF and TP interviewers that examined the patients as well as a third psychiatrist, acting as an observer for both modalities, determined the diagnosis, disposition recommendation and indication for involuntary admission.ResultsRater decisions had a high matching on disposition and indication for involuntary admission (Cohen’s Kappa (CK) of 0.84/0.81, 0.95/0.87 and 0.89/0.94 for FTF-TP, Observer-FTF and Observer-TP, respectively). Although identical diagnosis matching between the raters was relatively low, the partial diagnosis matching was high (CK of 0.52/0.81, 0.52/0.85 and 0.56/0.85 for FTF-TP, Observer-FTF and Observer-TP, respectively). Telepsychiatry assessments had comparable acceptability in items such as psychiatrists’ certainty and interviewers’ and patients’ satisfaction.ConclusionsTP and FTF psychiatric assessments in the emergency room settings have similar validity and acceptability. Implementation of TP in emergency room settings might improve the mental health services’ quality and access especially for remote populations. TP is especially important during the COVID-19 pandemic to enable treatment for epidemiologically isolated patients and to protect the medical personnel.

Hensikten med oppgaven er å finne ut hvordan vernepleiere kan fremme kommunikasjon med afasirammede etter hjerneslag. Metoden som er brukt i for å belyse denne oppgaven er litteraturstudie. Gjennom et systematisk litteratursøk ble det funnet 5 studier som var relevante for å belyse problemstillingen: «Hvordan kan vernepleiere fremme kommunikasjon med afasirammede etter hjerneslag?». Resultatene av studiene resulterte i to hovedtema: relasjon og kunnskap. Oppgaven vil se på hvordan disse temaene er med på å fremme kommunikasjonen. Many people will experience stroke and get aphasia as an outcome from that. It is important to be able to communicate so the learning disability nurses can understand the patient’s individual needs and interest. The aim of this study is to find out how the learning disability nurses can promote communication with people who has aphasia after stroke. The method used was a literature study. Through a systematic literature search, 5 relevant peer reviewed articles were found which answered the research question «How can the learning disability nurses promote communication with the patient with aphasia after stroke». The analysis of the peer reviewed articles resulted in two main themes: Relationship and knowledge. The study enlightens how these themes are central in promoting communication.

The existence of quantum non-liquid states and fracton orders, both gapped and gapless states, challenges our understanding of phases of entangled matter. We generalize the cellular topological states to liquid or non-liquid cellular states. We propose a mechanism to construct more general non-abelian states by gluing gauge-symmetry-breaking vs gauge-symmetry-extension interfaces as extended defects in a cellular network, including defects of higher-symmetries, in any dimension. Our approach also naturally incorporates the anyonic particle/string condensations and composite string (related to particle-string or p-string)/membrane condensations. This approach shows gluing the familiar extended topological quantum field theory or conformal field theory data via topology, geometry, and renormalization consistency criteria (via certain modified group cohomology or cobordism theory data) in a tensor network can still guide us to analyze the non-liquid states. We propose an effective field theory (EFT) of fractional quantum Hall systems near the filling fraction $��=5/2$ that flows to pertinent IR candidate phases, including non-abelian Pfaffian, anti-Pfaffian, and particle-hole Pfaffian states (Pf, APf, and PHPf). Our EFT has a 2+1$d$ O(2)$_{2,L}$ Chern-Simons gauge theory coupled to four Majorana fermions by a discrete charge conjugation gauge field, with Gross-Neveu-Yukawa-Higgs terms. Including deformations via a Higgs condensate and fermion mass terms, we can map out a phase diagram with tunable parameters, reproducing the prediction of the recently-proposed percolation picture and its gapless topological quantum phase transitions. Our EFT captures known features of both gapless and gapped sectors of time-reversal-breaking domain walls between Pf and APf phases. Moreover, we find that Pf$\mid$APf domain walls have higher tension than domain walls in the PHPf phase. Then the former, if formed, may transition to the energetically-favored PHPf domain walls; this could, in turn, help further induce a bulk transition to PHPf., 72 pages, 10 figures, 5 tables. We explore 4d Yang-Mills gauge theories (YM) living as boundary conditions of 5d gapped short/long-range entangled (SRE/LRE) topological states. Specifically, we explore 4d time-reversal symmetric pure YM of an SU(2) gauge group with a second-Chern-class topological term at $\theta=\pi$ (SU(2)$_{\theta=\pi}$ YM), by turning on background fields for both the time-reversal (i.e., on unorientable manifolds) and 1-form center global symmetry. We find four classes of time-reversal and Lorentz symmetry-enriched SU(2)$_{\theta=\pi}$ YM, labeled by $(K_1, K_2)$: $K_1=0,1$ specifies Kramers singlet/doublet Wilson line and new mixed higher 't Hooft anomalies; $K_2=0,1$ specifies boson/fermionic Wilson line and a new Wess-Zumino-Witten-like counterterm. Higher anomalies indicate that to realize all higher $n$-global symmetries locally on $n$-simplices, the 4d theory becomes a boundary of a 5d higher-symmetry-protected topological state (SPTs, as an invertible topological quantum field theory (TQFT) or a cobordism invariant in math, or as a 5d higher-symmetric interacting topological superconductor in condensed matter). By dynamically gauging the 1-form symmetry, we transform a 5d bulk SRE SPTs into an LRE symmetry-enriched topologically ordered state (SETs); thus we obtain the 4d SO(3)$_{\theta=\pi}$ YM-5d LRE-higher-SETs coupled system with higher-form gauge fields. We further derive new exotic anyonic statistics of extended objects such as 2-worldsheet of strings and 3-worldvolume of branes, physically characterizing the 5d SETs. We discover triple and quadruple link invariants associated with the 5d higher-gauge TQFTs, hinting at a relation between non-supersymmetric 4d pure YM and topological links in 5d. We provide 4d-5d lattice simplicial complex regularizations and bridge to 4d quantum spin liquids. The integrative analysis of high-throughput reporter assays, machine learning, and profiles of epigenomic chromatin state in a broad array of cells and tissues has the potential to significantly improve our understanding of noncoding regulatory element function and its contribution to human disease. Here, we report results from the CAGI 5 regulation saturation challenge where participants were asked to predict the impact of nucleotide substitution at every base pair within five disease-associated human enhancers and nine disease-associated promoters. A library of mutations covering all bases was generated by saturation mutagenesis and altered activity was assessed in a massively parallel reporter assay (MPRA) in relevant cell lines. Reporter expression was measured relative to plasmid DNA to determine the impact of variants. The challenge was to predict the functional effects of variants on reporter expression. Comparative analysis of the full range of submitted prediction results identifies the most successful models of transcription factor binding sites, machine learning algorithms, and ways to choose among or incorporate diverse datatypes and cell-types for training computational models. These results have the potential to improve the design of future studies on more diverse sets of regulatory elements and aid the interpretation of disease-associated genetic variation.

Whereas many researchers have examined the way in which health institutions have been transformed through funding modalities, and particularly through prospective payment systems (PPS), few have investigated the architecture of these systems, that is, costs and cost variance. Focusing on the study of costs and on the production of hospital rates, this chapter shows that the French PPS, called “rate per activity” made possible what we call a policy of variance. For health policymakers, the aim was to make the different accounting figures between hospitals, and between ways of practising healthcare, visible, in order to reduce these variances. This policy was attended by uncertainty in the processes of quantification, which led to metrological controversies. As a consequence of the issues around the way of calculating costs, some accounts and calculations were redone. In this chapter, we consider the case of metrological controversy over the remuneration of costs for cystic fibrosis patients’ hospital stays, and over the action of a patient organization that criticized the costs calculated officially. It leads to the analysis of the way calculative infrastructures, as cost accounting and rates, are challenged, and how some actors try to stabilize them.

Hydrogen peroxide is responsible for certain bactericidal effects observed in biological systems, such as growth inhibition of one bacterial species by another and killing of invading microorganisms by activated phagocytic cells. H2O2 might be generated in bacteriological media by their exposure to light and/or oxygen and become an important mediator of toxic effects. H2O2 cytotoxicity is apparently due to its capacity-generally mediated by transition metal ions-to generate more reactive and cytotoxic oxygen species such as the hydroxyl radical, which is a powerful oxidant, and which can initiate oxidation of biomolecules. The conversion of H2O2 into more cytotoxic compounds may be potentiated by reducing agents and by peroxidases. Cells may protect themselves against H2O2 toxicity either by the action of catalases or, in the case of DNA damage, by repairing the damage after it has taken place. Assays for the detection and quantitation of H2O2 in cell cultures include those based on (i) catalase-dependent oxidation of formate to CO2, (ii) generation of fluorescent products due to a H2O2- mediated oxidative reaction, (iii) the loss of fluorescence upon the oxidation of scopoletin, (iv) change in absorbance upon oxidation of phenol red, or (v) formation of complexes with peroxidases. Some possible antimicrobial uses of H2O2 in the food industry are presented.

We show that the 3450 U(1) chiral fermion theory can appear as the low energy effective field theory of a 1+1D local lattice model of fermions, with an on-site U(1) symmetry and finite-range interactions. The on-site U(1) symmetry means that the U(1) symmetry can be gauged (gaugeable for both background probe and dynamical fields), which leads to a nonperturbative definition of chiral gauge theory—a chiral fermion theory coupled to U(1) gauge theory. Our construction can be generalized to regularize any U(1)-anomaly-free 1+1D gauged chiral fermion theory with a zero chiral central charge (thus no gravitational anomaly) by a lattice, thanks to the recently proven “Poincaré dual” equivalence between the U(1) ’t Hooft anomaly-free condition and the U(1) symmetric interaction gapping rule, via a bosonization-fermionization technique.
