Using 980 ${\rm fb}^{-1}$ of data {collected} with the Belle detector operating at the KEKB asymmetric-energy $e^+e^-$ collider, we report the measurements of the masses, and the first measurements of the instrinsic widths, of the $\Sigma_c(2455)^+$ and $\Sigma_c(2520)^+$ charmed baryons. We find $M(\Sigma_c(2455)^+)-M(\Lambda_c^+) = 166.17\pm 0.05^{+0.16}_{-0.07}\ {\rm MeV}/c^2$, $\Gamma(\Sigma_c(2455)^+) = 2.3 \pm 0.3 \pm 0.3\ {\rm MeV/c^2}$, $M(\Sigma_c(2520)^+)-M(\Lambda_c^+) = 230.9 \pm 0.5 ^{+0.5}_{-0.1}\ {\rm MeV}/c^2$, and $\Gamma(\Sigma_c(2520)^+) = 17.2^{+2.3\ +3.1}_{-2.1\ -0.7}\ {\rm MeV}/c^2$, where the uncertainties are statistical and systematic, respectively. These measurements can be used to test models of the underlying quark structure of the $\Sigma_c$ states.

The Balloon-borne Experiment with a Superconducting Spectrometer (BESS) has carried out precise observation of the low-energy cosmic rays. Using a tracking system (in a 0.8 T uniform magnetic field) with a rigidity resolution of ∼0.4% at 1GV and a time-of-flight system with a time resolution of 120 ps, the BESS instrument enables us to distinguish isotope events. In December-January 2007-2008, BESS-Polar II achieved a 24.5-day observation during its balloon flight over Antarctica. By using 4.7 billion cosmic-ray event data obtained during the flight, rare $^{10}$Be events have been searched and analyzed. In this paper, we will report the analysis process of the beryllium isotope ratio measured by the BESS-Polar II.

Atomic and Molecular Physics, and Optics - Abstract
The superposition of a fundamental laser pulse and its second harmonic can form an asymmetric laser field that is useful in many applications. The temporal characterization of the two-color laser field becomes necessary. However, the temporal characterization of the two-color laser pulse is a challenging task due to its broad bandwidth and a spectral gap between the two frequency components. Here we demonstrate the temporal characterization of the two-color laser field using multiple ionization yield measurements near the laser focus. This new approach enables the complete temporal characterization of the two-color laser field, including the relative phase between the two frequency components.

We report results from a study of the spin and parity of $\Xi_{c}(2970)^+$ using a $980~\mathrm{fb^{-1}}$ data sample collected by the Belle detector at the KEKB asymmetric-energy $e^{+}e^{-}$ collider. The decay angle distributions in the chain $\Xi_{c}(2970)^+ \to \Xi_c(2645)^{0}\pi^{+} \to \Xi_c^{+}\pi^{-}\pi^{+}$ are analyzed to determine the spin of this charmed-strange baryon. The angular distributions strongly favor the $\Xi_{c}(2970)^+$ spin $J =1/2$ over $3/2$ or $5/2$, under an assumption that the lowest partial wave dominates in the decay. We also measure the ratio of $\Xi_{c}(2970)^+$ decay branching fractions $R={\mathcal{B}[ \Xi_{c}(2970)^+ \to \Xi_c(2645)^{0}\pi^{+} ]} / { \mathcal{B}[ \Xi_{c}(2970)^+ \to \Xi_c^{\prime0}\pi^{+} ]} =1.67 \pm 0.29\mathrm{(stat.)}^{ +0.15}_{ -0.09}\mathrm{(syst.)} \pm 0.25\mathrm{(IS)}$, where the last uncertainty is due to possible isospin-symmetry-breaking effects. This $R$ value favors the spin-parity $J^P=1/2^+$ with the spin of the light-quark degrees of freedom $s_{l}=0$. This is the first determination of the spin and parity of a charmed-strange baryon.

We report measurements of the branching fractions of singly Cabibbo-suppressed decays Λc+→pη and Λc+→pπ0 using the full Belle data sample corresponding to an integrated luminosity of 980.6 fb-1. The data were collected by the Belle detector at the KEKB e+e- asymmetric energy collider. A clear Λc+ signal is seen in the invariant mass distribution of pη. The fitted number of signal events of the Λc+→pη process is 7734±263; from this, we measure the ratio of branching fractions B(Λc+→pη)/B(Λc+→pK-π+)=[2.258±0.077(stat)±0.122(syst)]×10-2, from which we infer the branching fraction B(Λc+→pη)=[1.42±0.05(stat)±0.11(syst)]×10-3. In addition, no significant signal for Λc+→pπ0 is found, so an upper limit on the branching fraction of B(Λc+→pπ0)

We report searches for B0→invisible and B0→invisible+γ decays, where the energy of the photon is required to be larger than 0.5 GeV. These results are obtained from a 711 fb-1 data sample that contains 772×106BB¯ pairs and was collected near the ϒ(4S) resonance with the Belle detector at the KEKB e+e- collider. We observe no significant signal for either decay and set upper limits on their branching fractions at 90% confidence level of B(B0→invisible)

The experimental results on the ratios of branching fractions $\mathcal{R}(D) = {\cal B}(\bar{B} \to D \tau^- \bar{\nu}_{\tau})/{\cal B}(\bar{B} \to D \ell^- \bar{\nu}_{\ell})$ and $\mathcal{R}(D^*) = {\cal B}(\bar{B} \to D^* \tau^- \bar{\nu}_{\tau})/{\cal B}(\bar{B} \to D^* \ell^- \bar{\nu}_{\ell})$, where $\ell$ denotes an electron or a muon, show a long-standing discrepancy with the Standard Model predictions, and might hint to a violation of lepton flavor universality. We report a new simultaneous measurement of $\mathcal{R}(D)$ and $\mathcal{R}(D^*)$, based on a data sample containing $772 \times 10^6$ $B\bar{B}$ events recorded at the $\Upsilon(4S)$ resonance with the Belle detector at the KEKB $e^+ e^-$ collider. In this analysis the tag-side $B$ meson is reconstructed in a semileptonic decay mode and the signal-side $\tau$ is reconstructed in a purely leptonic decay. The measured values are $\mathcal{R}(D)= 0.307 \pm 0.037 \pm 0.016$ and $\mathcal{R}(D^*) = 0.283 \pm 0.018 \pm 0.014$, where the first uncertainties are statistical and the second are systematic. These results are in agreement with the Standard Model predictions within $0.2$, $1.1$ and $0.8$ standard deviations for $\mathcal{R}(D)$, $\mathcal{R}(D^*)$ and their combination, respectively. This work constitutes the most precise measurements of $\mathcal{R}(D)$ and $\mathcal{R}(D^*)$ performed to date as well as the first result for $\mathcal{R}(D)$ based on a semileptonic tagging method.

We report the result for a search for the leptonic decay of B$^{+}$ → μ$^{+}$ν$_{μ}$ using the full Belle dataset of 711 fb$^{-1}$ of integrated luminosity at the ϒ(4S) resonance. In the Standard Model leptonic B-meson decays are helicity and Cabibbo-Kobayashi-Maskawa suppressed. To maximize sensitivity an inclusive tagging approach is used to reconstruct the second B meson produced in the collision. The directional information from this second B meson is used to boost the observed μ into the signal B-meson rest frame, in which the μ has a monochromatic momentum spectrum. Though its momentum is smeared by the experimental resolution, this technique improves the analysis sensitivity considerably. Analyzing the μ momentum spectrum in this frame we find B(B$^{+}$ → μ$^{+}$ν$_{μ}$) = 5.3 ± 2.0 ± 0.9) × 10$^{-7}$ with a one-sided significance of 2.8 standard deviations over the background-only hypothesis. This translates to a frequentist upper limit of B(B$^{+}$ → μ$^{+}$ν$_{μ}$) < 8.6 × 10$^{-7}$ at 90% confidence level. The experimental spectrum is then used to search for a massive sterile neutrino, B$^{+}$ → μ$^{+}$N, but no evidence is observed for a sterile neutrino with a mass in a range of 0–1.5 GeV. The determined B$^{+}$ → μ$^{+}$ν$_{μ}$ branching fraction limit is further used to constrain the mass and coupling space of the type II and type III two-Higgs-doublet models.

The review presents an update on the electroencephalographic characteristics and neurophysiology of juvenile myoclonic epilepsy (JME) in Russia and foreign countries.Materials and methods.The authors have performed a literary search for the full-text publications on JME electroencephalography and neurophysiology worldwide and in the Russian Federation, which are available in Russian and foreign databases.Results and discussion. Analysis of the literature suggests that JME patients have some electroencephalographic pattern features that include the atypical morphology of spike-and-slow-wave complexes, as well as amplitude asymmetry, focal discharges, focal onset of paroxysms, focal paroxysmal shift, and generalized paroxysmal fast rhythm.The analysis of the literature also indicates that primary care neurologists, clinical neurophysiologists, and epileptologists should be informed about the electroencephalographic characteristics of JME to timely diagnose the disease and to rule out the use of inadequate therapy.

We present the first measurement of the Michel parameters η ‾ and ξκ in the radiative leptonic decay of the τ lepton using 703 fb-1 of data collected with the Belle detector at the KEKB e + e − collider. The Michel parameters are measured by an unbinned maximum likelihood fit to the kinematic information of e + e − → τ + τ − → ( π + π 0 ν ‾ ) ( l − ν ν ‾ γ ) ( l = e or μ ) . The preliminary values of the measured Michel parameters are η ‾ = − 2.0 ± 1.5 ± 0.8 and ξ κ = 0.6 ± 0.4 ± 0.2 , where the first error is statistical and the second is systematic.

We present a new measurement of the Cabibbo-Kobayashi-Maskawa matrix element |Vcb| from B0→D*-l+νl decays, reconstructed with the full Belle data set of 711 fb−1 integrated luminosity. Two form factor parametrizations, originally conceived by the Caprini-Lellouch-Neubert (CLN) and the Boyd, Grinstein and Lebed (BGL) groups, are used to extract the product F(1)ηEW|Vcb| and the decay form factors, where F(1) is the normalization factor and ηEW is a small electroweak correction. In the CLN parametrization we find F(1)ηEW|Vcb|=(35.06±0.15±0.56)×10-3, ρ2=1.106±0.031±0.007, R1(1)=1.229±0.028±0.009, R2(1)=0.852±0.021±0.006. For the BGL parametrization we obtain F(1)ηEW|Vcb|=(34.93±0.23±0.59)×10-3, which is consistent with the world average when correcting for F(1)ηEW. The branching fraction of B0→D*-l+νl is measured to be B(B0→D*-l+νl)=(4.90±0.02±0.16)%. We also present a new test of lepton flavor universality violation in semileptonic B decays, B(B0→D*-e+ν)B(B0→D*-μ+ν)=1.01±0.01±0.03. The errors quoted correspond to the statistical and systematic uncertainties, respectively. This is the most precise measurement of F(1)ηEW|Vcb| and form factors to date and the first experimental study of the BGL form factor parametrization in an experimental measurement.

Using data samples of e+e- collisions collected at the ϒ(1S), ϒ(2S), and ϒ(3S) resonances with the Belle detector, we search for the three-body decay of the Ω(2012) baryon to KπΞ. This decay is predicted to dominate for models describing the Ω(2012) as a KΞ(1530) molecule. No significant Ω(2012) signals are observed in the studied channels, and 90% credibility level upper limits on the ratios of the branching fractions relative to KΞ decay modes are obtained.

We present the first measurements of the absolute branching fractions of $\Xi_c^+$ decays into $\Xi^- \pi^+ \pi^+$ and $p K^- \pi^+$ final states. Our analysis is based on a data set of $(772\pm 11)\times 10^{6}$ $B\bar{B}$ pairs collected at the $\Upsilon(4S)$ resonance with the Belle detector at the KEKB $e^+e^-$ collider. We measure the absolute branching fraction of $\bar{B}^{0} \to \bar{\Lambda}_{c}^{-} \Xi_{c}^{+}$ with the $\Xi_c^+$ recoiling against $\bar{\Lambda}_c^-$ in $\bar{B}^0$ decays resulting in ${\cal B}(\bar{B}^{0} \to \bar{\Lambda}_{c}^{-} \Xi_{c}^{+}) = [1.16 \pm 0.42(\rm stat.) \pm 0.15(\rm syst.)] \times 10^{-3}$. We then measure the product branching fractions ${\cal B}(\bar{B}^{0} \to \bar{\Lambda}_c^- \Xi_c^+){\cal B}(\Xi_c^+ \to \Xi^- \pi^+ \pi^+)$ and ${\cal B}(\bar{B}^{0} \to \bar{\Lambda}_c^- \Xi_c^+){\cal B}(\Xi_c^+ \to p K^- \pi^+)$. Dividing these product branching fractions by $\bar{B}^{0} \to \bar{\Lambda}_{c}^{-} \Xi_{c}^{+}$ yields: ${\cal B}(\Xi_c^+ \to \Xi^- \pi^+ \pi^+) = [2.86 \pm 1.21(\rm stat.) \pm 0.38(\rm syst.)]\%$ and ${\cal B}(\Xi_c^+ \to p K^- \pi^+)=[0.45 \pm 0.21(\rm stat.) \pm 0.07(\rm syst.)]\%$. Our result for ${\cal B}(\Xi_c^+ \to \Xi^- \pi^+ \pi^+)$ can be combined with $\Xi_c^+$ branching fractions measured relative to $\Xi_c^+ \to \Xi^- \pi^+ \pi^+$ to set the absolute scale for many $\Xi_c^+$ branching fractions.

It is necessary for nuclear power plant operation and spent fuel canisters to provide a sound technical basis for the safety and security of long-term operation and storage respectively. A new code case for mitigation of Primary Water Stress Corrosion Cracking (PWSCC) and Chloride Induced Stress Corrosion Cracking (CISCC) in Section III components by using an advanced surface stress improvement technology (ASSIT) is being developed by Task Group ASSIT which is one of the task groups under the ASME (The American Society of Mechanical Engineers). The necessary technical reports supporting this code case are being developed as part of joint research projects conducted by Doosan Heavy Industries and Construction (DOOSAN), Electric Power Research Institute (EPRI) and Sun Moon University (SMU). A well-known approach to prevent PWSCC and CISCC are to be performed using materials resistant to PWSCC and CISCC. The objective is to eliminate residual tensile stresses, or to induce compressive residual stress using ASSIT methods such as laser peening, water jet/cavitation peening, ultrasonic peening and ultrasonic nanocrystal surface modification (UNSM). Performance and measurement criteria for mitigation of PWSCC by ASSIT will be established based on the magnitude of surface stress and depth of compressive residual stress, sustainability, inspectability and lack of adverse effects. Additionally, for mitigation of CISCC by ASSIT, the evaluation of chloride induced corrosion pitting, the depth and density of corrosion pits and stress corrosion crack initiation and growth under chloride salt chemistry conditions are also being examined. This paper explains the approach, and progress of testing and analysis. The results and details from testing and analysis will be presented in a future PVP paper upon completion.

We report a search for the charmless baryonic decay $B^0\to p\bar{p}\pi^0$ with a data sample corresponding to an integrated luminosity of 711~$\rm fb^{-1}$ containing $(772\pm 10)\times 10^6$ $B^0\bar{B}^0$ pairs. The data was collected by the Belle experiment running on the $\Upsilon(4S)$ resonance at the KEKB $e^+e^-$ collider. We measure a branching fraction $\mathcal{B}(B^0\to p\bar{p}\pi^0)= (5.0\pm1.8\pm0.6 )\times 10^{-7}$, where the first uncertainty is statistical and the second is systematic. The signal has a significance of 3.1 standard deviations and constitutes the first evidence for this decay mode. We also search for the intermediate two-body decays $B^{0}\to\Delta^+\bar{p}$ and $B^0\to\bar{\Delta}^-p$, and set an upper limit on the branching fraction: $\mathcal{B}(B^0\to \Delta^+\bar{p})+\mathcal{B}(B^0\to\bar{\Delta}^-p)

We report the first observation of the doubly-strange baryon $\Xi(1620)^0$ in its decay to $\Xi^-\pi^+$ via $\Xi_c^+ \rightarrow \Xi^- \pi^+ \pi^+$ decays based on a $980\,{\rm fb}^{-1}$ data sample collected with the Belle detector at the KEKB asymmetric-energy $e^+ e^-$ collider. The mass and width are measured to be 1610.4 $\pm$ 6.0 (stat) $^{+5.9}_{-3.5}$ (syst)~MeV$/c^2$ and 59.9 $\pm$ 4.8 (stat) $^{+2.8}_{-3.0}$ (syst)~MeV, respectively. We obtain 4.0$\sigma$ evidence of the $\Xi(1690)^0$ with the same data sample. These results shed light on the structure of hyperon resonances with strangeness $S=-2$.

We report the study of B+→pΛ¯K+K- and B+→p¯ΛK+K+ decays using a 772×106 BB¯ pair data sample recorded on the ϒ(4S) resonance with the Belle detector at KEKB. The following branching fractions are measured: B(B+→pΛ¯K+K-)=(4.10-0.43+0.45±0.50)×10-6, B(B+→p¯ΛK+K+)=(3.70-0.37+0.39±0.44)×10-6, B(ηc→pΛ¯K-+c.c.)=(2.83-0.34+0.36±0.35)×10-3 and B(B+→pΛ¯ϕ)=( 7.95±2.09±0.77)×10-7, where c.c. denotes the corresponding charge-conjugation process. The intermediate resonance decays are excluded in the four-body decay measurements. We also find evidence for B(ηc→Λ(1520)Λ¯+c.c.)=(3.48±1.48±0.46)×10-3 and B(B+→Λ(1520)Λ¯K+)=( 2.23±0.63±0.25)×10-6. No significant signals are found for J/ψ→Λ(1520)Λ¯+c.c. and B+→Λ¯(1520)ΛK+; we set the 90% confidence level upper limits on their decay branching fractions as

We report the first observation of the spontaneous polarization of Λ and Λ[over ¯] hyperons transverse to the production plane in e^{+}e^{-} annihilation, which is attributed to the effect arising from a polarizing fragmentation function. For inclusive Λ/Λ[over ¯] production, we also report results with subtracted feed-down contributions from Σ^{0} and charm. This measurement uses a dataset of 800.4 fb^{-1} collected by the Belle experiment at or near a center-of-mass energy of 10.58 GeV. We observe a significant polarization that rises with the fractional energy carried by the Λ/Λ[over ¯] hyperon.

We report a measurement of time-dependent CP violation in B0→KS0π0π0 decays using a data sample of 772×106 BB¯ pairs collected by the Belle experiment running at the ϒ(4S) resonance at the KEKB e+e- collider. This decay proceeds mainly via a b→sdd¯ “penguin” amplitude. The results are sin2ϕ1eff=0.92-0.31+0.27 (stat.) ±0.11 (syst.) and A=0.28±0.21 (stat.) ±0.04 (syst.), which are the most precise measurements of CP violation in this decay mode to date. The value for the CP-violating parameter sin2ϕ1eff is consistent with that obtained using decay modes proceeding via a b→cc¯s “tree” amplitude.

- Abstract
We report the first observation of the double strange baryon Ξ(1620)^{0} in its decay to Ξ^{-}π^{+} via Ξ_{c}^{+}→Ξ^{-}π^{+}π^{+} decays based on a 980 fb^{-1} data sample collected with the Belle detector at the KEKB asymmetric-energy e^{+}e^{-} collider. The mass and width are measured to be 1610.4±6.0(stat)_{-4.2}^{+6.1} (syst) MeV/c^{2} and 59.9±4.8(stat)_{-7.1}^{+2.8}(syst) MeV, respectively. We obtain 4.0σ evidence of the Ξ(1690)^{0} with the same data sample. These results shed light on the structure of hyperon resonances with strangeness S=-2.

We present first evidence that the cosine of the CP-violating weak phase 2β is positive, and hence exclude trigonometric multifold solutions of the Cabibbo-Kobayashi-Maskawa (CKM) Unitarity Triangle using a time-dependent Dalitz plot analysis of B^{0}→D^{(*)}h^{0} with D→K_{S}^{0}π^{+}π^{-} decays, where h^{0}∈{π^{0},η,ω} denotes a light unflavored and neutral hadron. The measurement is performed combining the final data sets of the BABAR and Belle experiments collected at the ϒ(4S) resonance at the asymmetric-energy B factories PEP-II at SLAC and KEKB at KEK, respectively. The data samples contain (471±3)×10^{6}BB[over ¯] pairs recorded by the BABAR detector and (772±11)×10^{6}BB[over ¯] pairs recorded by the Belle detector. The results of the measurement are sin2β=0.80±0.14(stat)±0.06(syst)±0.03(model) and cos2β=0.91±0.22(stat)±0.09(syst)±0.07(model). The result for the direct measurement of the angle β of the CKM Unitarity Triangle is β=[22.5±4.4(stat)±1.2(syst)±0.6(model)]°. The measurement assumes no direct CP violation in B^{0}→D^{(*)}h^{0} decays. The quoted model uncertainties are due to the composition of the D^{0}→K_{S}^{0}π^{+}π^{-} decay amplitude model, which is newly established by performing a Dalitz plot amplitude analysis using a high-statistics e^{+}e^{-}→cc[over ¯] data sample. CP violation is observed in B^{0}→D^{(*)}h^{0} decays at the level of 5.1 standard deviations. The significance for cos2β>0 is 3.7 standard deviations. The trigonometric multifold solution π/2-β=(68.1±0.7)° is excluded at the level of 7.3 standard deviations. The measurement resolves an ambiguity in the determination of the apex of the CKM Unitarity Triangle.

We report measurements of sin2β and cos2β using a time-dependent Dalitz plot analysis of B0→D(*)h0 with D→KS0π+π- decays, where the light unflavored and neutral hadron h0 is a π0, η, or ω meson. The analysis uses a combination of the final data sets of the BaBar and Belle experiments containing 471×106 and 772×106 BB¯ pairs collected at the ϒ(4S) resonance at the asymmetric-energy B factories PEP-II at SLAC and KEKB at KEK, respectively. We measure sin2β=0.80±0.14(stat)±0.06(syst)±0.03(model) and cos2β=0.91±0.22(stat)±0.09(syst)±0.07(model). The result for the direct measurement of the angle is β=(22.5±4.4(stat)±1.2(syst)±0.6(model))°. The last quoted uncertainties are due to the composition of the D0→KS0π+π- decay amplitude model, which is newly established by a Dalitz plot amplitude analysis of a high-statistics e+e-→cc¯ data sample as part of this analysis. We find the first evidence for cos2β>0 at the level of 3.7 standard deviations. The measurement excludes the trigonometric multifold solution π/2-β=(68.1±0.7)° at the level of 7.3 standard deviations and therefore resolves an ambiguity in the determination of the apex of the CKM Unitarity Triangle. The hypothesis of β=0° is ruled out at the level of 5.1 standard deviations, and thus CP violation is observed in B0→D(*)h0 decays. The measurement assumes no direct CP violation in B0→D(*)h0 decays.

We measure the branching fraction and time-dependent CP-violating asymmetry for B0→J/ψπ0 decays using a data sample of 711 fb-1 collected on the ϒ(4S) resonance by the Belle experiment running at the KEKB e+e- collider. The branching fraction is measured to be B(B0→J/ψπ0)=[1.62±0.11(stat)±0.06(syst)]×10-5, which is the most precise measurement to date. The measured CP asymmetry parameters are S=-0.59±0.19(stat)±0.03(syst) and A=-0.15±0.14(stat)+0.04-0.03(syst). The mixing-induced CP asymmetry (S) differs from the case of no CP violation by 3.0 standard deviations, and the direct CP asymmetry (A) is consistent with zero.

We report measurements of the branching fractions of the decays Lambda(+)(c) -> Sigma(+)pi(-)pi(+), Lambda(+)(c) -> Sigma(0)pi(+)pi(0) and Lambda(+)(c) -> Sigma(+)pi(0)pi(0) relative to the reference channel Lambda(+)(c) -> pK(-)p(+). The analysis is based on the full data sample collected at and near the gamma(4S) resonance by the Belle detector at the KEKB asymmetric-energy ethorne-collider, corresponding to an integrated luminosity of 711 fb(-1). We measure B(Lambda(+)(c) -> Sigma(+)pi(-)pi(+))/B(Lambda(+)(c) -> pK(-)pi(+)) = 0.719 +/- 0.003 +/- 0.024, B(Lambda(+)(c) -> Sigma(0) pi(+)pi(0))/B(Lambda(+)(c) -> pK(-)pi(+)) = 0.575 +/- 0.005 +/- 0.036 and B(Lambda(+)(c) -> Sigma(+)pi(0)pi(0))/B(Lambda(+)(c) -> pK(-)pi(+)) = 0.247 +/- 0.006 +/- 0.019. The listed uncertainties are statistical and systematic, respectively.

We report the observation of ϒ(2S)→γηb(1S) decay based on an analysis of the inclusive photon spectrum of 24.7 fb-1 of e+e- collisions at the ϒ(2S) center-of-mass energy collected with the Belle detector at the KEKB asymmetric-energy e+e- collider. We measure a branching fraction of B[ϒ(2S)→γηb(1S)]=(6.1-0.7-0.6+0.6+0.9)×10-4 and derive an ηb(1S) mass of 9394.8-3.1-2.7+2.7+4.5 MeV/c2, where the uncertainties are statistical and systematic, respectively. The significance of our measurement is greater than 7 standard deviations, constituting the first observation of this decay mode.

We study bottomonium production in association with an $$\eta $$ meson in $$e^+e^-$$ annihilations near the $$\varUpsilon (5S)$$ , at a centre-of-mass energy of $$\sqrt{s}=10.866$$ GeV. The results are based on the 121.4 fb $$^{-1}$$ data sample collected by the Belle experiment at the asymmetric-energy KEKB collider. Only the $$\eta $$ meson is reconstructed and the missing-mass spectrum of $$\eta $$ candidates is investigated. We observe the $$e^+e^-\rightarrow \eta \varUpsilon _J(1D)$$ process and find evidence for the $$e^+e^-\rightarrow \eta \varUpsilon (2S)$$ process, while no significant signals of $$\varUpsilon (1S)$$ , $$h_b(1P)$$ , nor $$h_b(2P)$$ are found. Cross sections for the studied processes are reported.

The first search for double charged charmoniumlike state production in gamma (IS) and gamma (2S) decays and in e(+) e(-) annihilation at root s = 10.52, 10.58, and 10.867 GcV is conducted using data collected with the Belle detector at the KEKB asymmetric energy electron-positron collider. No significant signals are observed in any of the studied modes, and the 90% credibility level upper limits on their product branching fractions in gamma(1S) and gamma(2S) decays [B(gamma(1S, 2S) -> Z(c)(+)Z(c)((')-)) x B(Z(c)(+) -> pi(+) + c (c) over bar ) (c (c) over bar = J / psi, chi(c1) (1P), psi(2S))] and the product of Born cross section and branching fraction for e(+)e(-) -> Z(c)(+)Z(c)((')-)) (sigma(e(+)e(-) -> Z(c)(+)Z(c)((')-)) x B(Z(c)(+) -> pi(+) + c (c) over bar )) at root s = 10.52, 10.58, and 10.867 GeV are determined. Here, Z(c) refers to the Z(c) (3900) and Z(c) (4200) observed in the pi J/psi final state, the Z(c1)(4050) and Z(c2)(4250) in the pi chi(c1)(1P) final state, and the Z(c)(4050) and Z(c)(4430) in the pi psi(2S) final state.

We report a measurement of time-dependent CP violation parameters in B0→KS0ηγ decays. The study is based on a data sample, containing 772×106BB¯ pairs, that was collected at the ϒ(4S) resonance with the Belle detector at the KEKB asymmetric-energy e+e- collider. We obtain the CP violation parameters of S=-1.32±0.77(stat)±0.36(syst) and A=-0.48±0.41(stat)±0.07(syst) for the invariant mass of the KS0η system up to 2.1 GeV/c2.

We measure the inclusive production cross sections of hyperons and charmed baryons from e(+)e(-) annihilation using a 800 fb(-1) data sample taken near the gamma(4S) resonance with the Belle detector at the KEKB asymmetric-energy e(+)e(-) collider. The feed-down contributions from heavy particles are subtracted using our data, and the direct production cross sections are presented for the first time. The production cross sections divided by the number of spin states for S = -1 hyperons follow an exponential function with a single slope parameter except for the Sigma(1385)(+) resonance. Suppression for Sigma(1385)(+) and Xi(1530)(0) hyperons is observed. Among the production cross sections of charmed baryons, a factor of 3 difference for Lambda(+)(c) states over Sigma(c) states is observed. This observation suggests a diquark structure for these baryons.

We report the first observation of the $$\Xi _{c}(2930)^0$$ charmed-strange baryon with a significance greater than 5 $$\sigma $$ . The $$\Xi _{c}(2930)^0$$ is found in its decay to $$K^- \Lambda _{c}^+$$ in $$B^{-} \rightarrow K^{-} \Lambda _{c}^{+} \bar{\Lambda }_{c}^{-}$$ decays. The measured mass and width are $$[2928.9 \pm 3.0(\mathrm stat.)^{+0.9}_{-12.0}(\mathrm syst.)]$$ MeV/ $$c^{2}$$ and $$[19.5 \pm 8.4(\mathrm stat.) ^{+5.9}_{-7.9}(\mathrm syst.)]$$ MeV, respectively, and the product branching fraction is $$\mathcal{B}(B^{-} \rightarrow \Xi _{c}(2930)^0 \bar{\Lambda }_{c}^{-}) \mathcal{B}(\Xi _{c}(2930)^0 \rightarrow K^- \Lambda _{c}^{+})=[1.73 \pm 0.45(\mathrm stat.) \pm 0.21(\mathrm syst.)]\times 10^{-4}$$ . We also measure $$\mathcal{B}(B^{-} \rightarrow K^{-} \Lambda _{c}^{+} \bar{\Lambda }_{c}^{-}) = [4.80 \pm 0.43(\mathrm stat.) \pm 0.60(\mathrm syst.)] \times 10^{-4}$$ with improved precision, and search for the charmonium-like state Y(4660) and its spin partner, $$Y_{\eta }$$ , in the $$\Lambda _{c}^{+}\bar{\Lambda }_{c}^{-}$$ invariant mass spectrum. No clear signals of the Y(4660) nor its spin partner are observed and the 90% credibility level (C.L.) upper limits on their production rates are determined. These measurements are obtained from a sample of $$(772\pm 11)\times 10^{6} B\bar{B}$$ pairs collected at the $$\Upsilon (4S)$$ resonance by the Belle detector at the KEKB asymmetric energy electron–positron collider.

We search for CP violation in the charged charm meson decay D+ -> pi(+)pi(0), based on a data sample corresponding to an integrated luminosity of 921 fb(-1) collected by the Belle experiment at the KEKB e(+)e(-) asymmetric-energy collider. The measured CP-violating asymmetry is [+2.31 +/- 1.24(stat) +/- 0.23(syst)] %, which is consistent with the standard model prediction and has a significantly improved precision compared to previous results.

We report a new measurement of the exclusive ${e}^{+}{e}^{\ensuremath{-}}\ensuremath{\rightarrow}{D}^{(*)\ifmmode\pm\else\textpm\fi{}}{D}^{*\ensuremath{\mp}}$ cross sections as a function of the center-of-mass energy from the ${D}^{(*)\ifmmode\pm\else\textpm\fi{}}{D}^{*\ensuremath{\mp}}$ threshold through $\sqrt{s}=6.0\text{ }\text{ }\mathrm{GeV}$, using the initial-state radiation technique. The analysis is based on a data sample collected with the Belle detector with an integrated luminosity of $951\text{ }\text{ }{\mathrm{fb}}^{\ensuremath{-}1}$. The accuracy of the cross section measurement is increased by a factor of 2 over the first Belle study. We perform the first angular analysis of the ${e}^{+}{e}^{\ensuremath{-}}\ensuremath{\rightarrow}{D}^{*\ifmmode\pm\else\textpm\fi{}}{D}^{*\ensuremath{\mp}}$ process and decompose this exclusive cross section into three components corresponding to the ${D}^{*}$ helicities.

We search for the J(PC) = 0(--) and 1(+-) light tetraquark states with masses up to 2.46 GeV/c(2) in gamma(1S) and gamma(2S) decays with data samples of (102 +/- 2) million and (158 +/- 4) million events, respectively, collected with the Belle detector. No significant signals are observed in any of the studied production modes, and 90% credibility level (C. L.) upper limits on their branching fractions in Upsilon(1S) and Upsilon(2S) decays are obtained. The inclusive branching fractions of the Upsilon(1S) and Upsilon(2S) decays into final states with f(1)(1285) are measured to be B(Upsilon(1S) -> f(1)(1285) + anything) = (46 +/- 28(stat) +/- 13(syst)) x 10(-4) and B(Upsilon(2S) -> f(1)(1285) + anything) = (22 +/- 15(stat) +/- 6.3(syst)) x 10(-4). The measured chi(b2) -> J/Psi + anything branching fraction is measured to be (1.50 +/- 0.34(stat) +/- 0.22(syst)) x 10(-3), and 90% C. L. upper limits for the chi(b0;b1) -> J/Psi + anything branching fractions are found to be 2.3 x 10(-3) and 1.1 x 10(-3), respectively. For B(chi(b1) -> omega + anything), the branching fraction is measured to be (4.9 +/- 1.3(stat) +/- 0.6(syst) x 10(-2). All results reported here are the first measurements for these modes.
