This paper is written in support of my documentary film Musya. The film follows a group of students from a Russian school in Toronto as they re-enact life stories of a living witness to Stalin’s Reign of Terror, for whom “life under the Soviets was worse than under the Germans during the war”. With major parts of the Soviet security service archives still classified, the topic of mass repressions is being deliberately excluded from the pro-Soviet narrative currently propagated by the Russian political elite. As the memory of this human tragedy is fading, with just a few witnesses remaining, this research project explores how the re-enactment method accompanied by analytical discussions can be used as an alternative way to ignite an intellectual and empathetic conversation on the mistakes of the past, and humanize historical narratives of pain and suffering.

PbCu(SeO

PbCu(SeO4)(OH)2, the selenate sibling of the mineral linarite, was synthesized hydrothermally, investigated in measurements of magnetization M, specific heat Cp and dielectric permittivity ε, and analyzed within density functional theory formalism. This quasi-one-dimensional compound evidences formation of a short-range correlation regime at T* ~ 8 K and experiences a long-range magnetic order at TN = 4.3 K. A magnetization saturation of approximately 1 µB is reached at µ0Hflip ~ 16 T preceded by a jump at µ0Hflop = 2.4 T. Additionally, there are multiple indicators of the formation of an additional electrically active phase above the Neel temperature, which suggests that PbCu(SeO4)(OH)2 is a multiferroic system.

This article studies the issues of international space law and analyses the reasons for its occurrence. At the moment, space law actively develops, and space exploration has become increasingly popular and demanded. Nevertheless, this field’s legal regulations were drawn up in the mid-20th century and are now partly obsolete. Moreover, the set of space-related legal relations in regard to the exploration and use of outer space and celestial bodies undergoes significant changes. Therefore, it is of sufficient importance to seek new possible areas and improve existing means of resolving current legal issues to ensure the progress of international and national space law. Every year problems related to unregulated actions of private companies in the sector increasingly occur. This topic requires analysis to provide ways to address those gaps in international space law.
