In challenging economic conditions, motivational mechanisms capable of maintaining sustainable logistics management of agricultural enterprises are declining. This study aims to specify the forms of connecting the motivational policy, KPI and sustainable logistics of agricultural enterprises. As a result of theoretical research, we have proved that the competencies of logistics managers can be the appropriate connector. We have considered the hypothesis that there are key competencies that logistics managers recognize as the most important and most often implemented for advancing sustainable procurement logistics. To confirm the hypothesis, we collected data from interviews with logistics managers of Ukrainian agricultural enterprises. To process the data, we used the method of integrated ABC-XYZ analysis. As a result, we found that the AX group (the most important and frequently used competencies) includes the high general qualification and the ability to assess the effectiveness of logistics operations and processes objectively. Unlike other studies, the novelty of the presented results is as follows. We advocate the idea of the motivational influence of performance indicators and propose to form KPI system taking into account the importance and frequency of using the established competencies of logistics managers. Being an informal caregiver to a loved one with an illness, disease, or chronic disability is a rewarding but frequently stressful experience. In this design research project, caregivers participated in a half-day workshop to (1) share their caregiving experience, (2) reflect on the potential of a mobile smartphone ‘app’ for carers and (3) co-design this app, as well as in-depth interviews. Our design research process used multiple arts-based methods, including visual experience mapping tools, storytelling, photo-elicitation, documentary photography, cartoons, drawing, and research poetry, to provide rich and empathic insight into daily life as a caregiver and illuminate the potential of technology. Workshop activities included creating a visual collage of lived experience, annotated visual maps illustrating the reality and misconceptions of caregiving, pathways of care, and mapping a day in their life using the visual metaphor of a clock. Carers then trialled and provided feedback on a prototype app, creating a collective map of desired features. This co-design feedback informed the final app design, which was formally launched at a public exhibition showcasing stories collected from our arts and design-led processes. This paper outlines the value of arts and design methods in the design of future health technologies, which provide a critical space for an informed, reflexive, and empathic dialogue about illness and caregiving, resulting in designs that truly met consumer’s needs.

The Australian Autism Educational Needs Analysis (ASD–ENA) highlighted the need for teachers to enhance their knowledge and understanding of autism. Researchers in the Autism CRC education program have developed a significant evidence base with the potential to inform and change teacher practice in order to improve student learning outcomes. However, knowledge translation is a complex business and changing the practice of teachers can be problematic. To meet this challenge, and ensure the direction and resources directly align with the needs of users, an online learning portal was co-designed and constructed to engage educators. This online learning portal would subsequently disseminate professional learning resources for educators, parents, and young people on the autism spectrum while supporting implementation of these in such a way that optimised school practices. This chapter reflects upon the identification of a set of national core themes in professional learning for teachers engaging with diverse learners and students on the autism spectrum. User experience and user research have been central throughout all stages of resource development and realised through wide consultation with all state-based and national stakeholders including teachers, clinical staff, principals, guidance officers, therapists, and policy makers. This process has been guided by core values of inclusion and authenticity, striving to authentically reflect the experiences and perspectives of young people on the autism spectrum. The portal intends to facilitate teacher understanding and adoption of evidence-based practices, the success of which will ultimately be realised through improved student outcomes.

In academia there is a strong push to forge meaningful partnerships with external industry and community. There are various reasons for this including to help generate income, expand networks, increase institutional reputation – but importantly it is also to try and make sure that the research conducted has practical and real-world impacts that tackle important social challenges and drive economic growth. However this is challenging territory in both corporate and not-for-profit (NFP) sectors. For corporate partnerships, the two sides – academic and business – have very distinct cultures and different incentives for establishing partnerships. For NFP partners, while the incentive to contribute to public good is shared, the challenges may be operational, e.g. funding to keep abreast and in the lead of latest technological innovation. Academics are not often trained in how to effectively engage and manage these relationships, and organisations are often unaware of the relevance of academic research. So, as design academics we asked; can we leverage a human-centred approach to help create more effective university-industry collaborations? By sharing three case studies, and contextualising our reflections within a co-design model, we hope to provide academics with useful insights to help establish, build and manage these important collaborations in the future.

Background Breastfeeding is considered the biological norm and essential to reduce infant morbidity and mortality. Mothers are responsible for breastfeeding but the support of others, including their partners is an influential determinant. The aim of this study was to compare antenatal breastfeeding knowledge, attitudes, and perceived breastfeeding support of expectant couples in Mekelle, Ethiopia. Methods As part of a randomised controlled trial of an mHealth intervention, 128 couples in their third trimester from three selected health centres in Mekelle city were recruited to participate between September and October 2018. Couples who each had a personal mobile phone, read and spoke Tigrigna, and lived together were included. Baseline data on breastfeeding knowledge, attitudes, and perceived support (breastfeeding savvy, help, appreciation, presence and responsiveness) were collected using previously validated tools through interview by health workers. Results Compared to mothers, male partners were more likely to indicate their intention to provide breastfeeding appreciation (p = 0.02), breastfeeding presence (p = 0.002), and breastfeeding responsiveness (p = 0.04). The mothers’ prenatal perception of their partners’ intended breastfeeding support was lower than fathers’ perceptions to support their partners. Multiparous mothers had more positive perceptions regarding their partners’ breastfeeding savvy (p = 0.03), and breastfeeding help (p = 0.02) compared to primiparous mothers. Conclusions Fathers in Ethiopia are potentially strong supporters of breastfeeding practice. Future breastfeeding interventions should promote the involvement of fathers in breastfeeding and encourage mothers to increase their partners’ involvement in breastfeeding.

BACKGROUND Adolescence is a life stage characterized by intense development and increased vulnerability. Yet, young people rarely seek help for mental health, often due to stigma and embarrassment. Alarmingly, even those who do seek help may not be able to receive it. Interventions focused on well-being offer a protective factor against adversity. Highly effective, innovative, theoretically sound, accessible, and engaging mobile health (mHealth) interventions that can be used to look beyond mental ill-health and toward mental well-being are urgently needed. OBJECTIVE We aimed to explore how young Australians conceptualize and construct recovery journeys from feeling unwell to being well in order to inform the conceptual design of a youth-led information-, resource-, and support-focused mHealth intervention. METHODS A sample of young people, grouped by age (12-15 years, 16-19 years, and 20-25 years), took part in 3 in-person participatory design workshops (per group). Young people’s understanding and representation of well-being, feeling unwell, and the recovery journey were investigated using visual and linguistic data collection methods: photo elicitation and journey mapping. A social constructionist perspective was used for thematic analysis to produce a conceptual model of the recovery journey. A mobile app was co-designed and all app functions were mapped through iterative development and testing by young people and a team of psychology, research, design and information technology experts. RESULTS Young people (n=25) described a 6-stage journey with specific barriers and coping strategies. The findings, when situated within the personal recovery framework in mental health, emphasize the cyclic and iterative model of change. Through co-design, the new app—Niggle—was conceptualized as a visual representation of an amorphous problem, which can be addressed through app functions corresponding to the most helpful strategies that young people used to progress through the stages of their recovery journey. CONCLUSIONS Niggle is available to offer support to young people for a range of problems and provides a hot link to counseling services in Australia. This paper elaborates on the process of in-depth qualitative data collection through visual, linguistic, and co-design methods. The findings of this study give insight into young people’s understanding of well-being and recovery. This paper could aid the development of high-quality personalized mHealth interventions and support resources.

На фоне описанной ситуации актуальна проблема выбора эффективных и действенных подходов к логистическому управлению сельскохозяйственным предприятием и подбор эффективных инструментов логистики. В статье рассматриваются подходы к управлению в целом и подходы к логистическому управлению в частности с присущими ему инструментами в деятельности сельскохозяйственных предприятий.

Indonesian Micro Small Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) is a major contributor to the socio-economic development that faces challenges with its sustainability in the current and future market. As a majority of total enterprises in Indonesia, MSMEs has contributed significantly to interconnecting local community empowerment with local economic and business development, resulting in various outcomes for both the business and the community. This research demonstrates that there are still gaps in our knowledge concerning the interaction of creative processes in daily MSMEs business, and in understanding how MSMEs’ creative production can be harnessed to add value and grow their potential for increasing competitive advantage alongside benefits to social welfare. This paper argues that a new approach is needed to support the sustainability of Indonesian MSMEs during the design development process, one that supports and facilitates innovative practice.The study explores how principles in creative process and social life found to be essential to innovation in MSME sector could be integrated within the MSME production cycle holistically using a newly proposed Compassionate Design approach. The new model serves as an overarching framework for establishing and fostering dynamic collaboration among key stakeholder groups and offers a holistic integrated approach of new model be engaged in future direction of local businesses and market opportunities.

Mobile apps provide a highly accessible way of reducing alcohol use in young people. This paper determines the 1-month efficacy and 2, 3 and 6 month outcomes of the Ray's Night Out app, which aims to increase alcohol knowledge and reduce alcohol use in young people. User-experience design and agile development processes, informed by the Information-Motivation-Behavioral skills model and evidence-based motivational interviewing treatment approaches guided app development. A randomized controlled trial comparing immediate versus 1-month delayed access to the app was conducted in 197 young people (16 to 25 years) who drank alcohol in the previous month. Participants were assessed at baseline, 1, 2, 3 and 6 months. Alcohol knowledge, alcohol use and related harms and the severity of problematic drinking were assessed. App quality was evaluated after 1-month of app use. Participants in the immediate access group achieved a significantly greater increase in alcohol knowledge than the delayed access group at 1-month, but no differences in alcohol use or related problems were found. Both groups achieved significant reductions in the typical number of drinks on a drinking occasion over time. A reduction in maximum drinks consumed was also found at 1 month. These reductions were most likely to occur in males and problem drinkers. Reductions in alcohol-related harm were also found. The app received a high mean quality (M = 3.82/5, SD = 0.51). The Ray app provides a youth-friendly and easily-accessible way of increasing young people's alcohol knowledge but further testing is required to determine its impact on alcohol use and related problems.

Інструментом розв’язання означених проблем є логістика, раціональне використання якої забезпечить ефективне виробництво та доставку необхідної споживачам продукції із забезпеченням належного рівня сервісу.У статті розглянуто управління логістичною діяльністю сільськогосподарських підприємств. Виокремлено основні види логістики та логістичні процеси, що в них протікають.

BACKGROUND Emotion dysregulation increases the risk of depression, anxiety, and substance use disorders. Music can help regulate emotions, and mobile phones provide constant access to it. The Music eScape mobile app teaches young people how to identify and manage emotions using music. OBJECTIVE This study aimed to examine the effects of using Music eScape on emotion regulation, distress, and well-being at 1, 2, 3, and 6 months. Moderators of outcomes and user ratings of app quality were also examined. METHODS A randomized controlled trial compared immediate versus 1-month delayed access to Music eScape in 169 young people (aged 16 to 25 years) with at least mild levels of mental distress (Kessler 10 score>17). RESULTS No significant differences between immediate and delayed groups on emotion regulation, distress, or well-being were found at 1 month. Both groups achieved significant improvements in 5 of the 6 emotion regulation skills, mental distress, and well-being at 2, 3, and 6 months. Unhealthy music use moderated improvements on 3 emotion regulation skills. Users gave the app a high mean quality rating (mean 3.8 [SD 0.6]) out of 5. CONCLUSIONS Music eScape has the potential to provide a highly accessible way of improving young people’s emotion regulation skills, but further testing is required to determine its efficacy. Targeting unhealthy music use in distressed young people may improve their emotion regulation skills. The period between 15 and 25 years is characterised by much personal change and is the peak age of onset of mental health problems. This prompts an interest in everyday strategies that young people might use to support their well-being. Music use is the preferred leisure activity among young people yet little is known about how music is linked to well-being in this population. This study aimed to develop and test a model of the relationships between young people’s use of music and their well-being, drawing on theories from the music psychology and clinical psychology fields. A qualitative analysis of transcripts from focus groups with 11 participants aged 15–25 years revealed four ways in which music listening links with well-being: relationship building, modifying emotions, modifying cognitions and emotional immersion. These linking variables were operationalised using questionnaire scores and tested on a new sample of 107 young people. Results of a multiple mediation analysis revealed that music listening was significantly related to all four linking variables, but not directly related to well-being as measured by the Mental Health Continuum. Nevertheless, the four linking variables indirectly mediated the effect of music listening on social wellbeing. The findings are consistent with earlier research on the role of music in emotion regulation and social connection although there are clearly other factors involved in determining young peoples’ well-being. These findings will help inform music-based interventions for young people.

Research shows that approximately half of creative practitioners operate as embedded creatives by securing gainful employment within organisations located in the field beyond their core discipline. This foregrounds the significance of having the skills necessary to successfully cross the disciplinary boundaries in order to negotiate a professional role. The multiple implications of such reframing for emerging creative practitioners who navigate uncertain professional boundaries include developing a skill of identifying and successfully targeting the shifting professional and industry coordinates while remaining responsive to changes. A further implication involves creative practitioners engaging in a continuous cycle of re-negotiation of their professional identity making the management of multiple professional selves - along with creating and recreating a meaningful frame of references such as the language around their emerging practice - a necessary skill. This chapter presents a case study of a set of Work Integrated Learning subjects designed to develop in creative industries practitioners the skills to manage their emerging professional identities in response to the shifts in the professional world.

The third wave of Human Computer Interaction (HCI) involves more ubiquitous and embedded forms of computing. Making these useful, usable and even delightful for people needs design research. The more technologies become enmeshed in our lives and the more dependent upon them we become, the more essential it is that they are simple for everyone to use and they do not let us down in those annoying ways we have become used to tolerating. Embedding computing into more and more of the objects and environments we interact with makes them less visible but more ubiquitous, making their usability essential but challenging at the same time. Design research is a mechanism which can help researchers, programmers and designers to understand how to create better twenty-first century computing systems and environments. This chapter discusses how design research can contribute to allowing third wave HCI to benefit the lives of all citizens rather than frustrate them.

the theoretical framework of visual analysis blends approaches to analysing packaging, social semiotic analysis and Chinese semiotic analysis. A package of Chinese West Lake Dragon Well tea is an example of a physical object that communicates social meaning related not only to the product itself but also to Chinese culture. To have a better understanding of social meaning for traditional Chinese visual language on contemporary tea packages, this study considers visual social semiotic theories and Chinese visual design semiotic analysis theories that provide insights into the meaning of visual elements of packaging by understanding the signs used in this packaging. Furthermore, there is diversity in understanding of these packaging elements due to language, culture and expertise. It is also useful to draw on packaging analysis theory, which facilitates the identification of traditional and contemporary design elements. This study identifies the representations of traditional cultural symbols used on the bestselling contemporary tea packages in China and provides a way for contemporary tea packaging designs to be analysed. It provides one answer for the question: “How can traditional symbols be interpreted as cultural meaning?”

Adequate support for lactating mothers is crucial to improve the rates of early initiation, exclusive, and continued breastfeeding. Maternal breastfeeding intention and ongoing breastfeeding duration are strongly predicted by their partners' breastfeeding beliefs. Partner support has a significant effect on improving rates of any and exclusive breastfeeding, when compared with professional support, particularly in low-income populations. This systematic review investigates the effectiveness of breastfeeding interventions targeting fathers in low- and middle-income countries (LMIC). A systematic literature search was undertaken on Medline (EBSCOhost), PsycInfo, CINAHL, and Scopus databases and via manual searching. Inclusion criteria were experimental or quasiexperimental designs targeting fathers from LMIC, which measured either breastfeeding initiation, breastfeeding exclusivity, or duration of breastfeeding as the main outcomes. No time restriction was put in place, and all articles were published in English. The quality of selected papers was assessed using the Joanna Briggs Institute tool. A total of 8 articles were included from 6 interventions: 2 quasiexperimental and 4 randomized control trials. All interventions involved breastfeeding education targeting fathers; 2 were given only to fathers, and 4 delivered to both fathers and mothers. Among these interventions, 2 measured both early initiation and exclusive breastfeeding; one exclusive breastfeeding only; one exclusive breastfeeding, knowledge, and attitudes; one exclusive breastfeeding and knowledge; and one breastfeeding, continued breastfeeding, and awareness. Across all interventions, breastfeeding education showed significant improvement in breastfeeding outcomes in the intervention compared with the control groups. In summary, breastfeeding education interventions targeting fathers in LMIC are effective in improving early initiation of breastfeeding, exclusive breastfeeding, and continued breastfeeding. Thus, breastfeeding promotion should consider the education and involvement of fathers in the intervention.

This article reviews a project which has produced creative design solutions for the development of online counselling in collaboration with Australia's largest youth telephone counselling service, Kids Helpline (KHL). Our discussion focuses on the shape of interaction design research conducted against the dual background of young people's multi-literacies and professional counselling practice. Existing text-based communication tools already available for Kids Helpline's clients were integrated with graphical image-based tools, while engaging young people in problem-solving and empowerment during online counselling sessions. The paper considers the fashioning of a conducive design and interactive communication environment for distressed young people and the independent evaluation of the new site design. Preliminary results are that young people report a greater sense of control and comfort in their net-based interaction with a counsellor.

Design is undergoing a reconceptualization triggered by debates about its potential to instigate meaningful social, cultural and environmental change. Simultaneously, design and the allied design-based industries are experiencing a vigorous ascendancy across many spheres of life. While our collective aesthetic is finely tuned to con - tem plate and consume all things designer, innovations in digital media are generating new dimensions in the design realms – spawning new industries and aesthetic developments. From designer kitchens and clothes to technology and landscapes, our senses have become hard-wired to appreciate the nuances and aesthetics of the visual.
