1. Freight Fleet Glasses—Augmented Reality Application to Support an Automated and Interconnected Fleet Management

Abstract

ZusammenfassungInnovative Wearable-Technologien haben sich in Form von Smart Glasses (dt.: Datenbrillen) für eine anwender- und prozessorientierte Bereitstellung von Informationen mit einem hohen betrieblichen Nutzen für lagerlogistische Prozesse etabliert. Durch die Verarbeitung von Detailinformationen in Echtzeit sowie die Anbindung an bestehende Informationssysteme, wird der Technologieeinsatz zur Bewältigung komplexer und datengetriebener Arbeitsaufgaben in einem dynamischen Betriebsumfeld auch für das Reparatur- und Instandhaltungsmanagement von Fahrzeugflotten hochrelevant. In Kombination mit einer visuellen Überlagerung von Objekten oder Inhalten in die reale Umgebung durch Augmented Reality (AR) eröffnen sich weitere Potenziale. In diesem Beitrag zeigen die Autoren die Einsatzbereiche von AR für ein automatisiertes und vernetztes Flottenmanagementsystem auf, das im Rahmen eines vom Bundesministerium für Wirtschaft und Klimaschutz geförderten Konsortialforschungsprojekts entsteht. Dazu wird der neuartige Ansatz Freight Fleet Glasses zur kontextadaptiven und automatisierten Ausführung identifizierter Werkstattprozesse präsentiert. Eine Einblendung fahrzeugspezifischer Reparatur- und Instandhaltungsdaten sowie die Dokumentation der Arbeitsprozesse mithilfe einer integrierten Kamera unterstützen die Arbeitsprozesse und den Informationsaustausch des vernetzten Systems. Im Anschluss wird das präsentierte Konzept in das Entwicklungsvorhaben Smart Managed Freight Fleet eingeordnet. Abschließend werden Implikationen für die Akteure im Flottenmanagement im Kontext der digitalen Transformation der Güterverkehrsbranche formuliert. AR-Technologien erhöhen die Prozesseffizienz und können gewinnbringend integriert werden, um nicht ausgeschöpfte Dienstleistungspotenziale für das Flottenmanagement zu heben.

ZusammenfassungDer Einsatz innovativer Informationstechnologien in Gütertransportsystemen offenbart neue Entfaltungspotenziale, um die Servitization in der Branche voranzutreiben. Neue datenbasierte Dienstleistungsangebote entstehen dabei durch Internet of Things (IoT) Plattform-Ökosysteme und ermöglichen den Informationsaustausch zwischen den beteiligten Akteuren. Diese Entwicklung wird insbesondere durch die Nutzung mobiler Telematik als Enabler-Technologie deutlich, die zunehmend für Transportladungsträger (TLT, z. B. Trailer) im B2B Bereich angewendet wird, damit intelligente Dienste entstehen, die von den Akteuren gemeinsam genutzt werden können. Vor diesem Hintergrund ermöglichen telematikgestützte TLT eine Value Co-Creation durch die Einbeziehung des Kunden, die von den einzelnen Akteuren in übergreifenden Dienstleistungsbereichen realisiert wird. In diesem Beitrag stellen die Autoren das Konzept Freight Service Platform Ecosystems (FSPEs) vor, das eine prozessorientierte Value Co-Creation durch telematikgestützte TLT in Plattform-Ökosystemen orchestriert. Basierend auf den Ergebnissen einer durchgeführten Studie wird ein Gestaltungsvorschlag für FSPEs präsentiert. Anschließend wird auf Grundlage des Value in Interaction Modells die positive Gestaltung der Werte entlang der identifizierten Dimensionen in FSPEs herausgestellt. Durch das präsentierte Konzept und die plattformbasierten Interaktionen werden abschließend strategische Handlungsmaßnahmen für gemeinsame Wertschöpfungen formuliert. Eine Value Co-Creation entsteht für die Akteure insbesondere für die Leistungsbewertung, Anomalieerkennung, Risikobewertung, Kommunikation und den Frachtinformationsaustausch, die einen vernetzten Flottenbetrieb in digitalisierten und zunehmend autonomen Transportlogistikketten unterstützen.

Im Bereich der modularen und flexiblen Produktion stellen konventionelle Ansätze für die Maschinensicherheit (Safety) Hürden in der Produktivität und Wirtschaftlichkeit dar. In diesem Artikel wird ein Konzept mit Fokus einer digitalen Produktionsplanung und -durchführung für Betreiber diskreter Produktionen entwickelt, welches die Sicherheits-Problematik durch einen Smart-Safety-Ansatz beantwortet und zur Steigerung der Effizienz der Produktion beiträgt. Im entwickelten Konzept werden verschiedene Akteure durch Softwareagenten repräsentiert, die je nach Anforderung auf wissensbasierte oder erlernte und freigegebene Nebenbedingungen zurückgreifen.

5. Designing a shared freight service intelligence platform for transport stakeholders using mobile telematics

Abstract

Internet of Things (IoT) technology transforms freight transport operations by adopting novel data-driven services and enables information sharing among actors involved in global transport chains. Mobile telematics represents emerging IoT technologies for global forwarding increasingly applied to full loads conveyed by freight transport assets (FTAs) (e.g., ISO containers) facilitating intelligent services. In this light, telematics-enabled FTAs support freight transport operations utilized by individual stakeholders in three overarching service dimensions: transport management, fleet management, and risk management. This topic is, however, understudied by information systems (IS) research and service science. For this reason, we establish a design science research project, conceptualize a shared Freight Service Intelligence Platform (FSIP), and introduce freight service intelligence as an interdisciplinary research field. To this aim, we first review related literature, interview 14 transport stakeholders, and theorize six meta-requirements. Second, we propose five design principles that indicate how the meta-requirements may be associated. Third, we develop a web-based prototype application to instantiate the proposed design principles comprising performance analytics, anomaly detection, risk assessment including prediction, data exchange, communication, and IS integration. Subsequently, we evaluate the application with six transport stakeholders and logistics software vendors. Finally, we conclude with a discussion on the implications of an emerging topic addressed by this paper.

7. Smart Managed Freight Fleet: An Automated and Connected Fleet Management System in a Federated Data Ecosystem

ZusammenfassungDas starke Wachstum des E‑Commerce stellt bedeutende Herausforderungen an die Betreiber von Fahrzeugflotten, um den kostenintensiven Fahrzeugeinsatz in einem digital getriebenen Transportmarkt zu optimieren. Innovative Fahrzeug- und Datentechnologien bieten dabei neue Möglichkeiten für die serviceorientierte Gestaltung digitaler Ökosysteme mit weiteren Stakeholdern durch cloudbasierte Infrastrukturen. Bei genauerer Betrachtung der Transportkette wurde ein durchgehendes, automatisiertes und vernetztes Flottenmanagement in einem gemeinsamen Datenraum bisher nicht realisiert. In diesem Beitrag stellen die Autoren das Konzept „Smart Managed Freight Fleet“ vor, das im Rahmen des vom BMWK geförderten Konsortialprojekts „GAIA-X 4 ROMS“ (Remote Operation for Automated and Connected Mobility Services) entwickelt werden soll. Dazu zeigen die Autoren zunächst die bestehenden Informations- und Fahrzeugtechnologien für ein vernetztes Flottenmanagement auf. Anschließend wird ein innovativer multiagentenbasierter Flottenmanagementansatz beschrieben, der insbesondere Telematik-gestützte „intelligente Wechselbrücken- und Trailer (iWT)“ mit neuartigen „autonom navigierenden Paketstationen (ANP)“ auf der ersten bzw. letzten Meile verknüpft. Ein sicherer und souveräner Datenaustausch zwischen den Akteuren, Softwareagenten und weiteren Diensten wird dabei durch ein Gaia-X-konformes Datenökosystem erfolgen. Im Anschluss werden die hieraus entstehenden wissenschaftlichen und praktischen Implikationen für ein datenbasiertes Flottenmanagement beschrieben. Abschließend gibt der Artikel einen Ausblick auf die nächsten Entwicklungsschritte zur Gestaltung frei nutzbarer Flottenmanagementdienste in einem interoperablen Datenökosystem.

9. Mathematics First: Russell’s Methodological Response to Bradley

In this article I examine the dispute between F. H. Bradley and Bertrand Russell concerning the reality of relations. I show that Bradley’s objections to Russell’s view, that there are such things as relations which serve to effect the unity of complex items, were rooted in a methodological approach which Russell did not share. On Bradley’s view, one must be able to offer reductive analyses of the items one postulates in order that commitment to those items be justified. I argue that Russell expressly rejected this methodological principle of Bradley’s, and instead adopted the view that one may justifiably postulate entities if doing so aids in the illumination of mathematical truths. I show that the postulation of relations does, on Russell’s view, serve to provide that illumination. Russell held that the truths of mathematics constitute fixed data, and that philosophical positions may be judged as successful according to the extent that they possess explanatory power with respect to this data. I argue that Bradley’s and Russell’s exchanges in print, as well as in private correspondence, reflect Russell’s awareness of a fundamental difference in methodological approach. I conclude that Russell elected not to answer Bradley’s objections on their own terms, but rather rejected the methodological assumptions from which those objections emerged.

Abstract

Purpose:Metastatic castration-resistant prostate cancer (mCRPC) remains a disease with high unmet medical need, as most patients do not achieve durable response with available treatments. Prostate-specific membrane antigen (PSMA) is a compelling target for mCRPC. It is highly expressed by primary and metastatic prostate cancer cells, with increased expression after progression on androgen deprivation therapy.Experimental Design:We developed AMG 160, a half-life extended, bispecific T-cell engager immuno-oncology therapy that binds PSMA on prostate cancer cells and cluster of differentiation 3 on T cells for treatment of mCRPC. AMG 160 was evaluated in vitro and in mCRPC xenograft models. AMG 160 tolerability was assessed in nonhuman primates (NHP). AMG 160 activity as monotherapy and in combination with a PSMA-imaging agent, novel hormonal therapy, and immune checkpoint blockade was evaluated.Results:AMG 160 induces potent, specific killing of PSMA-expressing prostate cancer cell lines in vitro, with half-maximal lysis of 6–42 pmol/L. In vivo, AMG 160 administered weekly at 0.2 mg/kg engages T cells administered systemically and promotes regression of established 22Rv-1 mCRPC xenograft tumors. AMG 160 is compatible with the imaging agent gallium 68–labeled PSMA-11, and shows enhanced cytotoxic activity when combined with enzalutamide or an anti-programmed death-1 antibody. AMG 160 exhibits an extended half-life and has an acceptable safety profile in NHPs.Conclusions:The preclinical characterization of AMG 160 highlights its potent antitumor activity in vitro and in vivo, and its potential for use with known diagnostic or therapeutic agents in mCRPC. 17. The bias blind spot among HR employees in hiring decisions

Abstract

Research on human resources (HR) indicates that many biases (e.g., halo effect, confirmation bias, stereotyping bias) affect decisions taken by HR employees. However, it remains unclear whether HR employees are aware of their susceptibility to bias. To improve understanding, this study examines the “bias blind spot” phenomenon, the tendency of individuals to believe they are less likely to be biased than their peers. This quantitative survey among 234 HR employees in Switzerland measured the bias blind spot on seven interview biases in recruitment decision-making. The study shows that participants rated the average HR colleague as more susceptible to bias than themselves. Furthermore, male HR employees partly showed a greater bias blind spot than female HR employees. These findings contribute to behavioral research in HR and offer practical insights.

ZusammenfassungNeben der menschen-induzierten Diskriminierung von Gruppen oder Einzelpersonen haben in der jüngeren Vergangenheit auch immer mehr KI-Systeme diskriminierendes Verhalten gezeigt. Beispiele hierfür sind KI-Systeme im Recruiting, die Kandidatinnen benachteiligen, Chatbots mit rassistischen Tendenzen, oder die in autonomen Fahrzeugen eingesetzte Objekterkennung, welche schwarze Menschen schlechter als weiße Menschen erkennt. Das Verhalten der KI-Systeme entsteht hierbei durch die absichtliche oder unabsichtliche Reproduktion von Vorurteilen in den genutzten Daten oder den Entwicklerteams. Da sich KI-Systeme zunehmend als integraler Bestandteil sowohl privater als auch wirtschaftlicher Lebensbereiche etablieren, müssen sich Wissenschaft und Praxis mit den ethischen Rahmenbedingungen für deren Einsatz auseinandersetzen. Daher soll im Kontext dieser Arbeit ein wirtschaftlich und wissenschaftlich relevanter Beitrag zu diesem Diskurs geleistet werden, wobei am Beispiel des Ökosystems Smart Living auf einen sehr privaten Bezug zu einer diversen Bevölkerung bezuggenommen wird. Im Rahmen der Arbeit wurden sowohl in der Literatur als auch durch Expertenbefragungen Anforderungen an KI-Systeme im Smart-Living-Ökosystem in Bezug auf Diskriminierungsfreiheit erhoben, um Handlungsempfehlungen für die Entwicklung von KI-Services abzuleiten. Die Handlungsempfehlungen sollen vor allem Praktiker dabei unterstützen, ihr Vorgehen zur Entwicklung von KI-Systemen um ethische Faktoren zu ergänzen und so die Entwicklung nicht-diskriminierender KI-Services voranzutreiben.

19. School to go: Neues Lernen im Social-Media-Stil

ZusammenfassungMit dem pandemiebedingten ersten Lockdown im März 2020 hat das digitale Lernen einen enormen Aufschwung erfahren. Mit der Initiative „School to go“ wird in Zeiten bundesweiter Schulschließungen ein relevanter Beitrag zur digitalen Bildung für Schülerinnen und Schüler, Eltern, Lehrkräfte und die interessierte Öffentlichkeit geleistet. Auf der gleichnamigen Plattform (www.schooltogo.de) werden digitale Lernangebote für Kinder, Jugendliche sowie junge Erwachsene gebündelt. Ferner finden sich dort Blogbeiträge zu Trendthemen der digitalen Bildung: Wie können digitale und didaktisch motivierte Raumkonzepte zu einem verbesserten Lernen beitragen und welche Bedeutung hat Gamification für die Lernmotivation der Schülerinnen und Schüler? Derzeit befinden sich auf „School to go“ bereits über 1000 innovative Lernformate (Stand Mai 2021) für verschiedene Fächer, die sich an Schülerinnen und Schüler aller Alters- und Jahrgangsstufen richten. Der vorliegende Beitrag zeigt, wie neues Lernen im Zeitalter der Digitalisierung gelingt und wie hierbei Didaktik und Wirtschaftsinformatik in Einklang gebracht werden können, um nachhaltige Lernerlebnisse zu ermöglichen.

20. Optimizing the Supportive Context of Web-Based Self-Help in Individuals With Mild to Moderate Depressive Symptoms

Abstract

Web-based self-help programs have the potential to fill gaps in mental health care. There is now substantial evidence for the efficacy of web-based programs in reducing depressive symptoms. Thereby, programs with therapeutic support seem superior to programs without therapeutic support in terms of the outcome of and adherence to the programs. Although there is no comprehensive theoretical model explaining the treatment outcome, there are theoretical perspectives that explain adherence to web-based programs. One such model is the Supportive Accountability Model (SAM), which focuses on how human support affects participants' feelings of accountability. The central assumption of the model is that participants are more likely to engage with a program when they feel accountable to a person who provides support. The present umbrella paper discusses how well four factors, which potentially improve outcome of and adherence to web-based programs for depressive symptoms, correspond to the SAM conditions. These four factors were investigated in the HERMES study. The umbrella paper also discusses the HERMES study results regarding the SAM assumptions. While the factor guidance was provided according to the SAM, the remaining three factors either did not correspond to the model (i.e., the unguided motivational interviewing module and the automated emails) or only to some degree (i.e., the diagnostic telephone interview). The HERMES study results are in line with what the SAM would suggest. Human support in the form of guidance increases adherence, whereas factors without human support do not. Future studies should include accountability assessments to investigate whether the benefit from human support emerges through accountability. Furthermore, future studies might further investigate the role of adherence regarding the outcome, the possibility of evoking accountability without human support, and the possibility of participants feeling accountable to a study (or, in a broader sense, research)., Internetbasierte Selbsthilfeprogramme haben das Potenzial, Lücken in der psychiatrischen Versorgung zu schließen. Ein solches Modell ist das Supportive Accountability Model (SAM), das sich darauf konzentriert, wie menschliche Unterstützung das Verantwortungsgefühl der Teilnehmenden beeinflusst. Die Schrift erörtert zudem die Ergebnisse der HERMES-Studie in Bezug auf das SAM. Während Guidance gemäss dem SAM angeboten wurde, entsprachen die verbleibenden drei Faktoren dem Modell nicht (das Motivational Interviewing Modul und die automatisierten E-Mails) oder nur zum Teil (das diagnostische Telefoninterview). Die Ergebnisse der HERMES-Studie sind gut mit dem SAM vereinbar. Menschliche Unterstützung in Form von Guidance erhöht die Adhärenz, während Faktoren ohne menschliche Unterstützung dies nicht tun. Künftige Studien sollten Verantwortlichkeit messen und untersuchen, ob der Nutzen der menschlichen Unterstützung durch die Verantwortlichkeit entsteht. Zudem könnten künftige Studien die Rolle der Adhärenz im Hinblick auf das Ergebnis, die Möglichkeit, Verantwortlichkeit ohne menschliche Unterstützung hervorzurufen, und die Möglichkeit, dass sich die Teilnehmer gegenüber einer Studie (oder der Forschung) verantwortlich fühlen, weiter untersuchen.

Abstract

ZusammenfassungLehrkräfte können auf eine Vielzahl von etablierten Unterrichtsmethoden zurückgreifen, um kooperatives Lernen in den Präsenzunterricht zu integrieren. Im Distanzunterricht während der Corona-Pandemie werden diese Methoden jedoch häufig nicht eingesetzt. Dadurch gehen das gemeinschaftliche, strukturierte Lernen und die damit einhergehenden positiven Effekte auf die Schülerinnen und Schüler verloren. Eine State-of-the-Art-Analyse zeigt, dass kaum technische Lösungen existieren, die methodenbasiertes, kooperatives Lernen in einem Distanzunterricht unterstützen – und falls doch, handelt es sich um sehr spezielle Lösungen für die Umsetzung einer konkreten Unterrichtsmethode. Wir schlagen daher das Konzept eines Smart Cooperative Distance Learning Systems vor. Dabei handelt es sich um ein Multiagentensystem in einer Cloud, welches insbesondere die methodenbasierte, kooperative Ausführung von Lerneinheiten unterstützt. Ein Szenario dient zur Veranschaulichung des Smart Cooperative Distance Learning Systems.

24. Taste the rainbow: A review of color abnormalities affecting the herpetofauna of the British Isles

Abstract

Over the years, the terminology in regards to the abnormal coloration of reptiles and amphibians has become more complex with not all authors in agreement regarding the different terms. This, combined with the diversity of chromatic abnormalities, has led to some confusion, particularly between hobbyists and conservationists who tend to use different technical jargon. In this review, we aim to tackle this issue by explaining how color within the skin of amphibians and reptiles arises, and evaluating which terminology should be used. This information will then be used to explore each of the known chromatic abnormalities observed in amphibians and reptiles before summarizing the known cases throughout the British Isles. Finally, we also present a number of previously unrecorded instances of color abnormalities in the hope that it promotes further examples to be recorded.

Abstract

Introduction The combination of internet-based intervention and psychotherapy, commonly termed blended therapy (BT), has gained popularity in recent years. While advantages and disadvantages of BT have been identified from the patient and therapist perspective, the two perspectives have rarely been examined within the same treatment. Moreover, almost all available research on patient and therapist experiences with BT is disorder-specific. This study aimed to investigate patient and therapist experiences within the same transdiagnostic BT. Methods A qualitative analysis of semi-structured interviews with eight patients and eight therapists taking part in a transdiagnostic blended intervention focusing on the topic of emotion regulation was conducted. A qualitative content analysis approach was used. Category frequencies were calculated and similarities and differences between the patient and therapist experience were explored. Results Ten main themes and 59 subthemes were identified in the category system for patient interviews and ten main themes and 50 subthemes were identified in the category system for therapist interviews. Similarities and differences between the two perspectives were reported with regard to 1) expectations toward the intervention, 2) the internet-based intervention, 3) symptomatology and emotion regulation, 4) the therapeutic relationship and 5) the blended format. Conclusion This study provides first insights on the experiences with transdiagnostic BT focusing on emotion regulation. Based on the results, different recommendations for the improvement of transdiagnostic BT are made. Future research on patient and therapist experiences with transdiagnostic BT is necessary, in order to further improve the experience of those involved.

ZusammenfassungIndividuelle Objekte spielen im Alltag eine zentrale Rolle und machen deren Unterscheidung zu einer wichtigen Voraussetzung für den Einsatz von Robotik. Die Herausforderung liegt dabei nicht allein in der sensorischen Wahrnehmung, sondern auch in der Verknüpfung mit vorhandenem Wissen: So können zwei für Verfahren der Objekterkennung identische Gegenstände durch ihre Funktion („Der Akkuschrauber, den ich zuletzt genutzt habe“) oder ihren Umgebungskontext („Die Tasse auf meinem Tisch“) eine eindeutige Zuordnung erhalten. Die Robotik adressiert diese Herausforderung unter dem Begriff des Anchorings, also der Fähigkeit, individuelle Objekte eindeutig zu erkennen und anhand ihres Kontexts wiederzuerkennen, sobald sie einmal aus dem Wahrnehmungsbereich gelangt sind. Auf technischer Ebene besteht dabei das Problem, Beziehungen zwischen Sensordaten und Symbolen in einer Wissensbasis herzustellen und so physische Objekte konkret zu adressieren. Der Beitrag stellt das Anchoring-Problem sowie den Dynamic Anchoring Agent (DAA) als einen Lösungsansatz vor. Anhand von zwei realen Anwendungsszenarien wird der Einsatz des DAA demonstriert: Anhand eines MakerSpaces werden die Möglichkeiten zur erweiterten Kooperation zwischen Menschen und Robotern gezeigt - beispielsweise durch die Suche und Identifikation von persönlichem Werkzeug oder benötigten Produktionsmaterialien. Eine zweite Anwendung verdeutlicht am Beispiel eines Yachthafens den weiterführenden Einsatz in dynamischen Umgebungen.

Abstract

Multiple myeloma (MM) is a hematologic malignancy that is characterized by the accumulation of abnormal plasma cells (PCs) in the bone marrow (BM). Patient outcome may be improved with BiTE (bispecific T-cell engager) molecules, which redirect T cells to lyse tumor cells. B-cell maturation antigen (BCMA) supports PC survival and is highly expressed on MM cells. A half-life extended anti-BCMA BiTE molecule (AMG 701) induced selective cytotoxicity against BCMA-expressing MM cells (average half-maximal effective concentration, 18.8 ± 14.8 pM), T-cell activation, and cytokine release in vitro. In a subcutaneous mouse xenograft model, at all doses tested, AMG 701 completely inhibited tumor formation (P < .001), as well as inhibited growth of established tumors (P ≤ .001) and extended survival in an orthotopic MM model (P ≤ .01). To evaluate AMG 701 bioactivity in cynomolgus monkeys, a PC surface phenotype and specific genes were defined to enable a quantitative digital droplet polymerase chain reaction assay (sensitivity, 0.1%). Dose-dependent pharmacokinetic and pharmacodynamic behavior was observed, with depletion of PC-specific genes reaching 93% in blood and 85% in BM. Combination with a programmed cell death protein 1 (PD-1)–blocking antibody significantly increased AMG 701 potency in vitro. A model of AMG 701 binding to BCMA and CD3 indicates that the distance between the T-cell and target cell membranes (ie, the immunological synapse) is similar to that of the major histocompatibility complex class I molecule binding to a T-cell receptor and suggests that the synapse would not be disrupted by the half-life extending Fc domain. These data support the clinical development of AMG 701.

Abstract

I argue, through appeal to the distinction between analysis and decomposition described by Dummett, that Wittgenstein employs both of those notions in the Tractatus. I then bring this interpretation to bear upon the issue of propositional unity, where I formulate an objection to the views of both Leonard Linksy and José Zalabardo. I show that both Linsky and Zalabardo fail to acknowledge the distinction between analysis and decomposition present in the Tractatus, and that they consequently mischaracterise Wittgenstein’s position with respect to propositional unity.

Abstract

In this article I offer a novel explanation of Wittgenstein’s claim, in his Tractatus, that to represent the logical form of a proposition would require our being positioned outside of logic. The account here presented aims to exploit a connection, widely noticed, between the logical forms of objects and those of the propositions in which the names of those objects figure. I show that the logical forms of propositions may, on Wittgenstein’s view, be identified with places in logical space, and that places in logical space are reducible to the forms of both objects and their names. I argue, though, that according to Wittgenstein the representation of a proposition’s logical form would require the existence of a place in logical space not so reducible. I conclude that on Wittgenstein’s position, the attempt to represent logical forms cannot, therefore, succeed.

32. Working Alliance Mediates the Effect of Guidance in a Web-Based Program for Participants with Mild to Moderate Depressive Symptoms: A Secondary Mediation Analysis

Abstract

Guided web-based self-help programs for individuals with depressive symptoms have shown to be more efficacious than unguided programs. However, research has paid little attention to why guided interventions are superior. The present study investigated whether working alliance and adherence to the program mediated the effect of guidance on depressive symptom outcome. The study is a secondary analysis of a randomized factorial trial. In the trial, 302 adults with mild to moderate depressive symptoms (Patient Health Questionnaire–9 score: 5–14) were randomized to either a guided or an unguided group. All participants received access to a web-based self-help program based on problem-solving therapy. Working alliance with the treatment providers was assessed using an adapted version of the Working Alliance Inventory for Guided Internet Interventions two weeks (early-treatment) and eight weeks (post-treatment) after pre-treatment. The primary outcome was depressive symptoms at post-treatment. The total working alliance score was significantly higher for guided participants compared to unguided participants (at early-treatment: t248.6 = - 3.36, p < .001, d = 0.42, at post-treatment: t194.9 = - 4.77, p < .001, d = 0.66). The total working alliance score correlated significantly with the change in depressive symptoms for guided (rs = 0.16, 0.34) and unguided participants (rs = 0.26, 0.23). The WAI-I total score statistically mediated the relationship between guidance and outcome (at early-treatment: B = - 0.028, at post-treatment: B = - 0.053). Furthermore, the subscale tasks (at post-treatment: B = - 0.051), the subscale goals (at early-treatment: B = - 0.031 and at post-treatment: B = - 0.052), and adherence to the program (B = -0.034) mediated the relationship between guidance and outcome. Finally, in a multiple mediation model both early-treatment working alliance and adherence to the program (B = - 0.050) mediated the relationship between guidance and outcome. These findings indicate that guidance increases working alliance to treatment providers as early as two weeks after treatment beginning. The alliance predicts outcome and mediates the relationship between guidance and outcome. Participants’ agreement with tasks and goals of a program seems to be more important than the bond with treatment providers. Treatment providers might therefore attune web-based programs to the preferences and expectations of participants. In addition to the working alliance, adherence to the program co-mediates the relationship between guidance and outcome.

38. Optimizing the context of support of web-based self-help in individuals with mild to moderate depressive symptoms: A randomized full factorial trial

Abstract

Web-based self-help programs for individuals with depressive symptoms are efficacious. Differences in effect sizes and adherence rates might be due to contextual factors. This randomized factorial trial investigated the effects of four potentially supportive contextual factors on outcome and adherence. Two factors were provided through human contact (guidance and a diagnostic interview), and two factors were provided without human contact (a motivational interviewing module and automated emails). We recruited 316 adults with mild to moderate depressive symptoms (Patient Health Questionnaire-9 score: 5-14). All participants received access to a problem-solving therapy program. Participants were randomized across the four experimental factors (present or absent), resulting in a 16-condition design. The primary outcome was depressive symptoms 10 weeks after baseline. The secondary outcome was program adherence. Overall, results showed significant symptom reduction for the primary depression measure (Cohen's d��=��0.38-0.91). Guided participants showed significantly less severe symptoms of depression at post-treatment (d��=��0.15) and higher treatment adherence (d��=��0.53). At follow-up, these differences were no longer present. The remaining three factors did not influence primary outcome and adherence. These findings indicate that guidance leads to a faster reduction of depressive symptoms and higher treatment adherence.

Abstract

We investigate the average value of the $p$th Dirichlet coefficients of elliptic curves for a prime p in a fixed conductor range with given rank. Plotting this average yields a striking oscillating pattern, the details of which vary with the rank. Abstract

The European physical journal / C 82(4), 289 (2022). doi:10.1140/epjc/s10052-022-10241-z, The study of the production of nuclei and antinuclei in pp collisions has proven to be a powerful tool to investigate the formation mechanism of loosely bound states in high-energy hadronic collisions. In this paper, the production of protons, deuterons and $^{3}\mathrm {He}$ and their charge conjugates at midrapidity is studied as a function of the charged-particle multiplicity in inelastic pp collisions at $\sqrt{s}=5.02$ TeV using the ALICE detector. Within the uncertainties, the yields of nuclei in pp collisions at $\sqrt{s}=5.02$ TeV are compatible with those in pp collisions at different energies and to those in p–Pb collisions when compared at similar multiplicities. The measurements are compared with the expectations of coalescence and Statistical Hadronisation Models. The results suggest a common formation mechanism behind the production of light nuclei in hadronic interactions and confirm that they do not depend on the collision energy but on the number of produced particles., Published by Springer, Heidelberg

Abstract

Therapy-related myeloid neoplasms (TMN) constitute one of the most challengingcomplications of cancer treatment.1 Whilst understanding of TMN pathogenesis remains fragmentary, genomic studies in adults have thus far refuted the notion that TMN simply result from cytotoxin-induced DNA damage.2–4 Analysis of the preclinical evolution of a limited number of adult TMN have retraced the majority of cases to clonal haematopoiesis (CH) that predates cytotoxic treatment and lacks the mutational footprint of genotoxic therapies.2–6 Balanced translocations, generally attributed to treatment with topoisomerase II inhibitors, are implicated in a minority of TMN.1 TMN is a leading cause of premature death in childhood cancer survivors, and affects 7-11% of children treated for high-risk neuroblastoma and sarcoma.7,8 However, the origin of pediatric TMN remains unclear. Targeted sequencing of known cancer genes detects CH in ~4% of children following cytotoxic treatment,6,9 whereas CH is vanishingly rare in young individuals in the general population.10,11 Moreover, to our knowledge, no cases of childhood TMN have been retraced to pretreatment CH. In light of these observations, we asked whether a broader driver landscape had eluded targeted CH screens in pediatric cancer patients and/or whether therapy-induced mutagenesis may be an under-recognised catalyst of CH and TMN in this patient group.

ZusammenfassungUm in zunehmend komplexen und wettbewerbsintensiven Märkten konkurrenzfähig bleiben zu können, muss die Innovationskraft eines Unternehmens sichergestellt werden. Dabei kommt dem Menschen und seiner Kreativität eine zentrale Rolle zu. Design Thinking bietet ein Methodenspektrum, um die Kreativität von Einzelnen in einem gruppendynamischen, benutzerzentrierten Prozess in Innovationen zu überführen. Es kommen insbesondere spielerische Ansätze zur Kreativitätsförderung zum Einsatz, zu denen beispielsweise das Lego-Prototyping gehört. Digitale Unterstützungswerkzeuge sind bisher selten, obwohl sowohl Forschung als auch Praxis die virtuelle Realität aufgrund ihres immersiven Charakters zunehmend als ein Kreativitätsmedium betrachten. Im vorliegenden Beitrag wird daher eine Virtual-Reality-Anwendung zur Unterstützung des Prototypings in Design-Thinking-Prozessen als ein Proof of Concept vorgestellt und im Rahmen einer Case-Study evaluiert. Im Ergebnis resultiert eine Virtual-Reality-Umgebung, die einen positiven Effekt auf das Design-Thinking-Prototyping hinsichtlich der Kreativitätsförderung, der Effizienz und der Intuition hat. Hervorgehend aus den Evaluationsergebnissen entstehen Ansätze für eine folgende Iteration sowie Handlungsempfehlungen für die Gestaltung und den Einsatz unternehmensbezogener VR-Anwendungen. Perspektivisch gesehen eröffnen VR-Anwendungen neue Potenziale zur Gestaltung von digitalisierten Arbeitswelten.

ZusammenfassungDie Kooperation von Wissenschaft und Praxis in anwendungsorientierten Förderprojekten ist zu einem wesentlichen Instrument der Forschung avanciert und intensiviert den Austausch von realen Problemstellungen und innovativen Lösungsansätzen. Themenschwerpunkte, die ein hohes Innovationspotenzial aufweisen, aber noch unscharf diskutiert sind, stellen jedoch klassische Kooperationsformen vor neue Herausforderungen: Einerseits wird die Konzeption eines Projekts vom geringen Kenntnisstand erschwert, andererseits sorgt die geringere Erfolgssicherheit für eine abnehmende Investitionsbereitschaft industrieller Partner. So kann die Forschung um „Künstlichen Intelligenzen“ als Beispiel genannt werden, deren hohe Komplexität im Feld der Kleinen und Mittelständischen Unternehmen eingangs Hemmungen verursachte. Um diesen Herausforderungen zu begegnen, berichtet der vorliegende Beitrag von Erfahrungen, die aus einer dreijährigen Kooperation von sechs Hochschulen und über 30 Praxispartnern in der Form eines Innovationsnetzwerkes gesammelt wurden. Dabei werden zunächst typische Akteure und deren Aufgabenfelder (z. B. Wissenschaftspartner als Lotsen für neue Ideen oder Unternehmen für die Evaluation und Anwendung neuer Forschungsresultate) sowie unterschiedliche Ergebnistypen (z. B. Pilotstudien, Spin-Offs und kooperative Lehrformate) des Innovationsnetzwerkes beschrieben. Zur Illustration der Ergebnisse werden zwei Anwendungsbeispiele von einer branchenübergreifenden Cross-Innovation aus der Lebensmittelindustrie sowie von einem aus dem Netzwerk heraus entstandenen Pilotprojekt zur Digitalisierung von Startup-Vorhaben aufgeführt. Abschließend werden darauf aufbauend Potenziale und Herausforderungen diskutiert, um Impulse für die Konzeption und Umsetzungen solcher Netzwerke abzuleiten.

Abstract

Currently, there is a multitude of CD3 bispecifics with different molecular designs and binding properties in preclinical and clinical development for the treatment of liquid or solid tumors. The key safety concerns with CD3 bispecifics are excessive release of cytokines, which may translate to potentially life-threating cytokine release syndrome (CRS), target organ toxicity due to redirection of T-cells to normal tissues expressing the tumor-associated antigen (TAA) (off-tumor/on-target cytotoxicity), and, in some instances, neurotoxicity. Another key challenge is to arrive at a safe clinical starting dose and an efficient escalating strategy that allows patients in early dose cohorts the potential for clinical benefit in Phase 1 trials. To expand the therapeutic index and bring more treatment options to patients, there are intense efforts to overcome these challenges through improvements in molecular design, preclinical safety assessment strategies, and clinical management practices. A recent workshop at the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) with industry, academic, and regulatory agency representation was held to discuss the challenges and explore where such improvements to the development of CD3 bispecifics can be implemented. Here, the content of the presentations and the discussion that occurred during this workshop are summarized.

Abstract

It is well appreciated that Moore, in the final years of the nineteenth century, emphatically rejected the monistic idealism of F. H. Bradley. It has, however, been less widely noticed that Moore’s concern to defeat monism remained with him well into the 1920s. In the following discussion I describe the role that Moore’s adoption of a ‘common sense’ orientation played in his criticisms of Bradley’s monism. I begin by outlining certain distinctive features of Bradley’s sceptical methodology, before describing the contrasting approach of Moore as it appears in 1910-11 and 1925. I bring these methodological differences into relief by assessing the status of common sense claims in the work of each figure. I show that Moore’s common sense methodology was employed against Bradley’s monistic conclusions, and that it was adopted with Bradley squarely in mind.

Abstract

This article argues in favour of the view that in Theoroi (a.k.a. Isthmiastai) the satyrs had absconded from Dionysus’ choral training, and dedicate a set of votive masks on Poseidon’s Isthmian temple. I propose that at the end of fr. 78c Dionysus offers them javelins and suggests that they dance a pyrrhikhe. This plot rests on a blurring of the distinctions between satyr, human character, and human performer. I interpret how Aeschylus managed plot, scenery, masks, costume, and language in order to transform this blurring to elicit from the audience humorous reflection on the nature of dramatic innovation and of drama as a representational medium.

Die derzeit in Wissenschaft und Praxis gefuhrte Debatte um nachhaltige und nutzenstiftende IoT-basierte Geschaftsmodelle fokussiert haufig ausschlieslich die technisch-physischen Komponenten des Leistungssystems. Ihrer Natur und dem Kundenbedurfnis entsprechend bestehen diese Leistungsbundel jedoch aus zwei Teilen: (Vernetzten) Produkten und (digitalen) Dienstleistungen, welche nur integriert Mehrwerte fur Anbieter und Kunden stiften. Die Ausstattung von Sachgutern mit Sensorik und deren Vernetzung auf physischer Ebene ist dabei elementar, die reine Moglichkeit zur Aufnahme der Datensatze ist jedoch nicht direkt nutzenstiftend. Dies wird erst durch die Auswertung der Daten mittels geeigneter Analyseverfahren und dem daraus abgeleiteten Umgang mit der Situation erreicht, wie es derzeit unter dem Begriff „Predictive Maintenance“ haufig als Beispiel angefuhrt wird. Die Abbildung und Entwicklung solcher integrierten Angebote bringt aufgrund der zu integrierenden Disziplinen und der Vielzahl an unterschiedlichen Elementen umfangreiche Herausforderungen mit sich, fur die bisher keine hinreichenden Integrationsansatze bestehen. Der vorliegende Beitrag adressiert die fehlende Verknupfung der beiden Teile und konzipiert dafur einen auf Graphen beruhenden Ansatz zur Zusammenfuhrung von vernetzten Produkten und Dienstleistungen und zeigt die Funktionsfahigkeit mit Hilfe eines Prototyps auf. Dieser erlaubt die Uberfuhrung von Produkten und Dienstleistungsprozessen in Graph-basierte Datenbanken und ermoglicht eine direkte Verknupfung der Elemente, um integrierte Produkt-Dienstleistungs-Systeme ausfuhrbar darzustellen. Im Ergebnis werden Handlungsstrategien fur die integrierte Entwicklung nachhaltiger IoT-basierter Geschaftsmodelle vorgestellt und die Dimensionen einer Ausrichtung von Entwicklungs- und Integrationsaktivitaten aufgezeigt.
