Venous thromboembolism (VTE) is a major health issue among hip fracture patients. This study aimed to develop an information platform based on a mobile application and then evaluate whether information platform-based nursing could improve patient's drug compliance and reduce the incidence of VTE in hip fracture patients.This study retrospectively analyzed hip fracture patients who were treated with conventional prevention and intervention methods for VTE (control group) between January 2008 and November 2012, and prospectively analyzed hip fracture patients who were treated with nursing intervention based on the information platform (study group) between January 2016 and September 2017. All the patients included in the both groups were hip fracture patients who had an age over 50 years, treated with surgery, and hospitalized ≥ 48 h. Patients were excluded if they admitted to hospital due to old fractures, had a severe bleeding after 72 h of admission, diagnosed with any type of VTE, or refused to participate in the study. The information platform was divided into medical, nursing, and patient interface. Based on the information platform, medical practitioners and nurses could perform risk assessments, monitoring management and early warnings, preventions and treatments, health educations, follow-up, and other aspects of nursing interventions for patients. This study compared essential characteristics, drug compliance, VTE occurrence, and mean length of hospitalization between the two groups. Besides, a subgroup analysis was performed in the study group according to different drug compliances. SPSS 18.0 software (IBM Corp., NY, and USA) was used for statistical analysis.Altogether 1177 patients were included in the control group, and 491 patients in the study group. Regarding baseline data, patients in the study group had more morbidities than those in the control group (p 0.05). The difference of drug compliance between the two groups was statistically significant (p 0.001): 761 (64.7%) of the patients in the control group and only 30 (6.1%) patients in the study group had poor drug compliance. In terms of VTE, 10.7% patients (126/1177) in the control group had VTE, and the rate in the study group was 7.1% (35/491), showing a statistically significant difference (p = 0.02). Moreover, the average length of hospitalization in the study group was also significantly lower than that in the control group (10.4 days vs. 13.7 days, p 0.001). Subgroup analyses of the study group showed that the incidence of VTE in patients with poor, partial, and good compliances were 56.7% (17/30), 5.8% (10/171), and 2.8% (8/290), respectively, revealing a significantly huge difference (p 0.001).Poor drug compliance leads to higher VTE occurrence. The information platform-based nursing can effectively improve the compliance of hip fracture patients and thus considerably reduce the incidence of VTE. The mobile application may be an effective tool to prevent VTE in hip fracture patients.

In the field of ultrafast magnetism, i.e., subpicosecond or femtosecond time scales, the dynamics of magnetization can be described by the inertial Landau-Lifhitz-Gilbert equation. In terms of this equation, the intrinsic characteristics is investigated in detail for the theoretical limit of the magnetization reversal field. We can find that there is a critical value for the inertia parameter τc , which is affected by the damping and anisotropy parameter of the system. When the inertial parameter factor τ < τc , the limit value of the magnetization reversal field under the ultrafast magnetic mechanism is less than that of the fast magnetic mechanism. When τ > τc , the limit value of the magnetization reversal field will be greater than the limit value under the fast magnetic mechanism. Moreover, it is important to point out that the limit value of the magnetization reversal field under the ultrafast magnetic mechanism decreases with the increasing inertial factor, as τ < τc /2, while increases with inertial factor τ as τ > τc /2. Finally, with the joint action of damping and anisotropy, compared with fast magnetism, we find that the limit value of the magnetization reversal field has rich variation characteristics, i.e., there is not only a linear and proportional relationship, but also an inverse relationship, which is very significant for the study of ultrafast magnetism.

Recent compelling results indicate possible links between neurotransmitters, intestinal mucosal IgA + B cell responses, and immunoglobulin A nephropathy (IgAN) pathogenesis. Here, we demonstrated that γ-amino butyric acid (GABA) transporter-2 (GAT-2) deficiency induces intestinal germinal center (GC) B cell differentiation and worsens the symptoms of IgAN in a mouse model. Mechanistically, GAT-2 deficiency enhances GC B cell differentiation through activation of GABA–mammalian target of rapamycin complex 1 (mTORC1) signaling. In addition, IgAN patients have lower GAT-2 expression but higher activation of mTORC1 in blood B cells, and both are correlated with kidney function in IgAN patients. Collectively, this study describes GABA signaling–mediated intestinal mucosal immunity as a previously unstudied pathogenesis mechanism of IgAN and challenges the current paradigms of IgAN.

Background: Compared with other types of compressors, although the scroll compressor has a simple structure and low noise, due to the limitation of the structure, it has defects such as excessively high discharge temperature, and has extremely high requirements on the machining accuracy of parts. The oil-free scroll compressor is a new type of scroll machine, which does not contain oil during the working process; it can be applied to cases with low displacement requirements and a high-pressure ratio. Objective: Taking a scroll compressor with a rated displacement of 0.6 m3/min as the research object, the analysis and research of the working performance parameters of the scroll compressor in actual work provide a certain theoretical basis for the improvement and optimization of the test prototype. Methods: The thermodynamic model of the scroll compressor in the actual working process is established by the variable-mass system thermodynamics and the control volume method. Based on the CFD method, a three-dimensional unsteady-state numerical simulation of the flow characteristics of the working fluid in the scroll compressor's working chamber is carried out in order to verify the thermodynamic model. Considering the accuracy of numerical simulation, a test platform with air as the working fluid is set up. Results: Through the thermodynamic model and numerical simulation, the changes of temperature, pressure and velocity in the working chamber of the scroll compressor with the orbiting angle of the main shaft as well as the gas force and torque acting on the orbiting scroll tooth are obtained. Through experiments, the law of volume flow and shaft power of the scroll compressor with the speed of change, and the law of the change of discharge temperature with pressure at different speeds are obtained. Conclusion: At the same time, the thermodynamic model established by considering heat transfer and leakage is more in line with the actual working process of the compressor; the mass exchange between adjacent working chambers of the scroll compressor has a greater impact on the temperature and pressure in the working chamber. Due to internal leakage and irreversible loss, such as heat transmission, there is a deviation between the theoretical volume flow and the actual volume flow.

In this paper, we investigate binary response models for heterogeneous panel data with interactive fixed effects by allowing both the cross-sectional dimension and the temporal dimension to diverge. From a practical point of view, the proposed framework can be applied to predict the probability of corporate failure, conduct credit rating analysis, etc. Theoretically and methodologically, we establish a link between a maximum likelihood estimation and a least squares approach, provide a simple information criterion to detect the number of factors, and achieve the asymptotic distributions accordingly. In addition, we conduct intensive simulations to examine the theoretical findings. In the empirical study, we focus on the sign prediction of stock returns, and then use the results of sign forecast to conduct portfolio analysis.

This paper considers a time-varying vector error-correction model that allows for different time series behaviours (e.g., unit-root and locally stationary processes) to interact with each other to co-exist. From practical perspectives, this framework can be used to estimate shifts in the predictability of non-stationary variables, test whether economic theories hold periodically, etc. We first develop a time-varying Granger Representation Theorem, which facilitates the establishment of asymptotic properties for the model, and then propose estimation and inferential methods and theory for both short-run and long-run coefficients. We also propose an information criterion to estimate the lag length, a singular-value ratio test to determine the cointegration rank, and a hypothesis test to examine the parameter stability. To validate the theoretical findings, we conduct extensive simulations. Finally, we demonstrate the empirical relevance by applying the framework to investigate the rational expectations hypothesis of the U.S. term structure.

This paper considers statistical inference of time-varying network vector autoregression models for large-scale time series. A latent group structure is imposed on the heterogeneous and node-specific time-varying momentum and network spillover effects so that the number of unknown time-varying coefficients to be estimated can be reduced considerably. A classic agglomerative clustering algorithm with normalized distance matrix estimates is combined with a generalized information criterion to consistently estimate the latent group number and membership. A post-grouping local linear smoothing method is proposed to estimate the group-specific time-varying momentum and network effects, substantially improving the convergence rates of the preliminary estimates which ignore the latent structure. In addition, a post-grouping specification test is conducted to verify the validity of the parametric model assumption for group-specific time-varying coefficient functions, and the asymptotic theory is derived for the test statistic constructed via a kernel weighted quadratic form under the null and alternative hypotheses. Numerical studies including Monte-Carlo simulation and an empirical application to the global trade flow data are presented to examine the finite-sample performance of the developed model and methodology.

Cementitious materials are well acknowledged as one of the most adaptable materials for immobilizing heavy metals. Belite calcium sulfoaluminate cement (BCSA), one of the low-carbon alternative binders to cement with superior properties regarding chemical resistance and mechanical properties, is found with a desirable capability for waste immobilization. In this study, BCSA was used for Co(II) immobilization with a dosage of up to 2.5% by weight of BCSA. The results showed that Co(II) could promote the hydration of BCSA pastes, specifically accelerated the hydration of ye'elimite. More hydration products could be generated in the Co(II)-doped BCSA pastes, leading to the construction of a denser microstructure. The compressive strength of BCSA pastes would be slightly improved when BCSA was used for Co(II) immobilization, and the electrical resistivity would decrease. In terms of Co(II) immobilization, BCSA cement exhibited a desirable capacity for Co(II) immobilization. The majority of the Co(II) could be immobilized within the first 100 min of mixing BCSA with Co(II) solutions. The immobilization degrees of Co(II) in hardened BCSA pastes could approach about 99.99% after 7d. The acquired results indicated that BCSA cement is effective for Co(II) immobilization. Therefore, BCSA has a low-carbon advantage with superior strength development over time and prospective capacity of heavy metals immobilization.

Caryota obtusa of Arecaceae is a fascinating palm tree native to southwestern China, India, Myanmar, Thailand, Laos and Vietnam. It is an economically important and threatened species and appears as a canopy dominant in some karst areas in Yunnan. We aim to clarify the forest structure, species diversity, population status and regeneration dynamics of C. obtusa in the karst forest ecosystem of Yunnan, China. We established 56 vegetation plots dominated by C. obtusa in 10 counties of southern Yunnan. Based on the plot data, we analyzed the community stratification, floristic composition and C. obtusa’s population structure. We used questionnaires to interview local people and recorded the human activity history in C. obtusa-dominated forests. Caryota obtusa palm forests were distributed on limestone mountain slopes and gullies. There were seven forest community types. The stratification of each community included arborous layer, shrub layer and understory. The communities had rich species composition. For all the plots as a whole of each community type, Shannon–Wiener diversity index of either woody or herbaceous species ranged from 2.1 to 3.8. The diameter at breast height (DBH)-class frequency distribution of C. obtusa was a multimodal type. The regeneration was sporadic and dependent on intermediate natural disturbances. In the current population structure, a number of C. obtusa trees with small DBHs consisted mainly of the forest communities with no or a slight degree of human disturbances. Intensive human activities terribly hindered recruitment of C. obtuse, followed by the medium intensity of human activities.

Ecological factors have received increasing attention as drivers of speciation but also in the maintenance of postspeciation divergence. However, the relative significance of the responses of species to climate oscillations for driving niche divergence or conservatism in the evolution of many species that pass through diverse environments and limited geographical boundaries remains poorly understood. Paeonia rockii (one of the ancient species of Paeonia) comprising two subspecies called Paeonia rockii subsp. rockii and Paeonia rockii subsp. taibaishanica is an endemic, rare, and endangered medicinal plant in China. In this study, we integrated whole chloroplast genomes, and ecological factors to obtain insights into ecological speciation and species divergence in this endemic rare peony. RAxML analysis indicated that the topological trees recovered from three different data sets were identical, where P. rockii subsp. rockii and P. rockii subsp. taibaishanica clustered together, and molecular dating analyses suggested that the two subspecies diverged 0.83 million years ago. In addition, ecological niche modeling showed that the predicted suitable distribution areas for P. rockii subsp. rockii and P. rockii subsp. taibaishanica differed considerably, although the predicted core distribution areas were similar, where the population contracted in the last interglacial and expanded in the last glacial maximum. Under the emissions scenarios for the 2050s and 2070s, the suitable distribution areas were predicted to contract significantly, where the migration routes of the two subspecies tended to migrate toward high latitudes and elevations, thereby suggesting strong responses of the distributions of the two subspecies to climate change. These findings combined with the phylogeographic relationships provide comprehensive insights into niche variation and differentiation in this endemic rare peony, and they highlight the importance of geological and climatic changes for species divergence and changes in the population geographic patterns of rare and endangered medicinal plants in East Asia.

Background: With the rapid consumption of non-renewable energy such as coal, oil and natural gas and the growing demand for environmental protection, the reutilization of low-grade waste heat energy has become an important approach to improve energy utilization efficiency. As a new technology, organic Rankine cycle (ORC) power generation technology can make full use of and convert waste heat. Objective: Both the suction and discharge pressures of the scroll expander have a certain influence on the output and motion characteristics of the orbiting scroll. By studying the position and arrangement of the suction and discharge ports of the expander, a theoretical basis can be provided for the design of these ports. Methods: For the scroll expander using working fluid R134a, by establishing the geometrical and three-dimensional models of the suction and discharge ports of the scroll expander with different positions and structures, based on the Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) method. Results/Discussion: Through comprehensive comparison, it was found that the structure of the original suction pipe outperformed any of the other structures; the fluid flow in the original discharge pipe was more complicated, and the simplified model of the commonly used scroll mechanical discharge pipe had the optimal performance. Conclusion: Compared with the original prototype SEI2, the suction port area is increased, and the suction port pulsation intensity coefficient and the suction pressure loss coefficient of the prototype SEI4 are reduced by 34.833% and 5.264% respectively, which can make the suction process of the expander more stable. Since the unilateral discharge ports Outlet3 and Outlet5 are located in the moving and static regions, respectively, there is a difference in the perturbation of the outlet fluid by the movable scroll, so that the gas pulsation intensity at Outlet3 is nearly double that of Outlet5.

Ferroelectric polarizationhas been considered to be an key factor to tune the structural and photoelectric properties of perovskites and their heterostructures. While there has been growing researches made in the novel phenomena originating from interface formed between oxide perovskites, the effects of ferroelectric polarization on the electronic properties of halide perovskites and their heterostructures are rarely studied. Herein, by using first-principles calculations, all-inorganic halide perovskite heterostructure composed of 3D perovskite tetragonal CsPbBr3 and 2D Ruddlesden-Popper (RP) perovskite Cs2PbI2Cl2 is constructed for disclosing the relationship between the intrinsic polarization of tetragonal CsPbBr3 and electronic band structure of heterostructure. Cs atoms and Pb atoms of tetragonal CsPbBr3 in heterostructure are artificially moved away from the equivalent centers to simulate increased polarization. Our results show that with the spontaneous polarization of tetragonal CsPbBr3 increasing, the bandgap of heterostructure decreases, and the band alignment switches from staggered type-II to broken-gap type-III. Moreover, large cation-anion displacements along z-direction in tetragonal CsPbBr3 can be observed when tensile strains (≥5%) are applied, indicating a increased ferroelectric polarization, which also facilitates the decreasing of bandgap in heterostructure and the type-II-type-III transition of band alignment. Our study suggests that control over the polarization of ferroelectric materials is of great importance to tune the photoelectric properties of perovskite-based devices.

Background: Heat pump air conditioning technology has broad application prospects and high market value in the field of electric automobiles owing to its increasing performance and energy saving. Pure electric vehicles require high-energy consumption at low temperatures, which seriously affects the popularity of electric vehicles with a heat pump air conditioning system. Objective: The aim of this research is to describe the recent developments in the study of the heat pump air conditioning system for electric vehicles. Methods: This paper summarizes the research work of scholars published worldwide based on the electric vehicle heat pump air conditioning system, premised on lately published patents and journal articles. Starting from the components of the air conditioning system, focusing on the research results and development trends that have been achieved in this field. Results: The new technology path and pattern of the electrical vehicle heat pump air conditioning system provide methods and suggestions for future growth, put forward by the current development situation. Conclusion: The latest progress of the electric vehicle heat pump air conditioning system has been summarized and prospected. There are still some problems and technical bottlenecks in heat pump air conditioning system. It is of great significance to improve the environmental adaptability of electric vehicles and optimize the reasonable heat pump air conditioning system for the endurance of electric vehicles.

The forest tree family Aceraceae is widespread in the northern hemisphere and it has ecological and economic importance. However, the phylogenetic relationships and classifications within the family are still controversial due to transitional intraspecific morphological characteristics and introgression hybridization among species. In this study, we determined the evolutionary relationships and molecular evolution of Aceraceae based on plastid phylogenomics and two nuclear gene variations. Phylogenetic analysis based on the plastid genomes suggested that Aceraceae species can be divided into two larger sub-clades corresponding to the two genera Acer and Dipteronia. Conjoint analysis of the plastid and nuclear gene sequences supported the classification with two genera in the family. Molecular dating showed that the two genera diverged 60.2 million years ago, which is generally consistently with previously reported results. Divergence hotspots and positively selected genes identified in the plastid genomes could be useful genetic resources in Aceraceae.

Globally, increasing temperatures due to climate change have severely affected natural ecosystems in several regions of the world; however, the impact on the alpine plant may be particularly profound, further raising the risk of extinction for rare and endangered alpine plants. To identify how alpine species have responded to past climate change and to predict the potential geographic distribution of species under future climate change, we investigated the distribution records of

Optical fiber Bragg sensors (FBGs) have great potential in the field of flexible wearable devices for tracking human gestures. Due to different human sizes, different wearable tensions inevitably cause errors when tracking arm joint movements. We have designed a flexible wearable smart sleeve with four heads of FBG and spandex polyurethane fibers (SPFs). SPFs sewn with flexible fabric sleeves convert elbow yawing and wrist pitching and roll into an axial strain of FBG. The measuring system has been developed to deduce personalized sensitivity using a dynamic calibration method. For males and females, dynamic calibration, verification and tracking tests were carried out. From the male’s experimental data, the relative errors between the verification sensitivity and the personalized sensitivity are 1.93%, 5.85% and 7.16%, and the average relative errors between the tracking sensitivity and the personalized sensitivity are 7.09%, 5.58% and 2.52%, respectively. And from the data of the female’s experiment, the relative errors between the verification sensitivity and the personalized sensitivity are 0.25%, 5.0% and 6.75%, and the average relative errors between the tracking sensitivity and the personalized sensitivity are 0.99%, 5.56% and 6.95%, respectively. The experimental data have shown that this wearable smart sleeve and the measuring system work well. The research results can be used to develop FBG sensing systems for monitoring joint movements for different human sizes on-line.

In general, two-dimensional semiconductor-based van der Waals heterostructures (vdWHs) can be modulated to achieve the transition of band alignments (type-I, type-II, and type-III), which can be applied in different applications. However, it is rare in three-dimensional perovskite-based vdWHs, and it is challenging to achieve the tunable band alignments for a single perovskite-based heterostructure. Here, we systematically investigate the electronic and optical properties of all-inorganic perovskite vdWHs CsSnBr3/WS2(1-x)Se2x based on density functional theory (DFT) calculation. The calculated results show that the transitions of band alignment from type-II to type-I and type-III to type-II are achieved by modulating the doping ratio of the Se atom in the WS2(1-x)Se2x monolayer for SnBr2/WS2(1-x)Se2x and CsBr/WS2(1-x)Se2x heterostructures, respectively, in which the CsBr and SnBr2 represent two different terminated surfaces of CsSnBr3. The change of band alignments can be attributed to the conduction band minimum (CBM) transforming from the W 5d to Sn 5p orbital in SnBr2/WS2(1-x)Se2x vdWHs, and the valence band maximum (VBM) and CBM change from an overlapped state to a separated one in CsBr/WS2(1-x)Se2x vdWHs. This work can provide a theoretical basis for the dynamic modulation of band alignments in perovskite-based vdWHs.

Squash leaf curl China virus (SLCCNV) is a bipartite Begomovirus. The function of the protein AC5, which is encoded by SLCCNV, is unknown. Here, we confirmed that the 172-amino acids (aa) long AC5 protein of SLCCNV could suppress single-stranded RNA but not double-stranded RNA-induced post-transcriptional gene silencing (PTGS). Furthermore, we determined that the C-terminal domain (96–172 aa) of the AC5 protein was responsible for RNA silencing suppressor (RSS) activity via deletion mutant analysis. The AC5 protein can reverse GFP silencing and inhibit systemic silencing of GFP by interfering with the systemic spread of the GFP silencing signal. The SLCCNV AC5 protein was localized to both the nucleus and cytoplasm of Nicotiana benthamiana cells. Furthermore, deletion analysis showed that the putative nuclear localization signal (NLS, 102–155 aa) was crucial for the RNA silencing suppression activity of AC5. In addition, the AC5 protein elicited a hypersensitive response and enhanced potoao virus X (PVX) RNA accumulation in infected N. benthamiana plants. Using the infectious clones of the SLCCNV and SLCCNV-AC5 null mutants, mutational analysis confirmed that knockout of the AC5 gene abolished SLCCNV-induced leaf curl symptoms, showing SLCCNV AC5 is also a virulence determinant.

Growth and environment literature has gained much attention in recent times. However, the emphasis was laid on the conventional economic growth or gross domestic product at the expense of the category of growth that is evenly shared and whose social benefits are far reaching than just an increase in the overall economic pie. It is on this note that the present paper looks at the type of relationship between growth and environment with particular emphasis on growth that is all inclusive. Data are sourced from World Governance and Development Indicators (WGI and WDI) and an index of inclusive growth constructed using principal component analysis (PCA). The findings indicate that institutional quality plays a major role in enhancing growth-environmental sustainability. The results further find a new phenomenon called environmental inclusive-growth Kuznets curve (EIKC) and added to the EKC debate. That is, at the early phase of inclusive growth, environmental degradation rises as well but environmental quality improves with the rise in inclusive growth at a higher phase of the relationship. The study recommends that policymakers should encourage the economies of sub-Saharan Africa to pursue inclusive growth and not compromise it for sustainability since sustainability comes later. Institutional quality which serves as a transmission mechanism in the study can as well be used as a robust and efficient structure to avoid adverse environmental externalities of inclusive growth.

3-Methyl-6-(3,5-difluorophenyl)imidazo[2,1-b]thiazole (mdfpit) and 3-methyl-6-(3,4,5-trifluorophenyl)imidazo[2,1-b]thiazole (mtfpit) were easily prepared from thiourea, acetone, and 3,5-difluorobenzoyl bromide or 3,4,5-trifluorobenzoyl bromide. These were used as primary ligands to synthesize twelve phosphorescent IrIII complexes with picolinic acid (pic), isoquinoline-3-carboxylic acid (3-IQA), quinoline-2-carboxylic acid (2-QA), 2-(pyridin-2-yl)phenol (2-ylppy), 2-(2,4-difluorophenyl)pyridine (dfppy), and pyridine-2-sulfonic acid (2-sappy) as auxiliary ligands. Their structures, photoluminescence, and electrochemical properties were investigated. Upon introducing more fluorine atoms into the benzene ring of the primary ligand, the thermal stability, photoluminescence quantum yield (PLQY), LUMO energy level, and luminous efficiency of the resulting IrIII complexes are significantly improved, and the photoluminescence emission spectra are blue-shifted. Their maximum emission wavelengths are present in the range of 517–618 nm, and the luminous colors span from the green to red light region. Using the synthesized IrIII complexes as emitters, LED chips based on InGaN chip excitation were developed, which showed good performances. Among all LEDs, the PLQY of the (mtfpmt)2Ir(pic) based LED is 58.4%, and the luminous efficiency is as high as 17.11 lm W−1; the luminous efficiency of the (mdfpmt)2Ir(2-QA) based LED is 3.41 lm W−1 with CIE coordinates of 0.60 and 0.38, which are very similar to the saturated standard red light emission. The results demonstrate the potential of the studied IrIII complexes as candidates for LED materials.

A novel bacterial strain, TLK-CK17T, was isolated from cow dung compost sample. The strain was Gram-stain-negative, non-spore-forming, short rod-shaped, aerobic, and displayed growth at 15–40°C with an optimum at 35°C, with 0–5.0% (w/v) NaCl (optimum 0.5) and at pH 6.5–8.5 (optimum 7.0–7.5). Cells contained summed iso-C16:0, iso-C15:0, and feature 9 (comprising C17:1 ω9c and / or 10-methyl C16:0), as its major cellular fatty acids (>10.0%) and ubiquinone-8 (Q-8) as the exclusively respiratory quinone. The polar lipid profile of strain TLK-CK17T consisted of phosphatidylethanolamine, phosphatidylglycerol and diphosphatidylglycerol. The DNA G+C content was 68.2 mol%. On the basis 16S rRNA gene sequence comparison, strain TLK-CK17T showed the highest sequence similarity (98.9%) with L. penaei GDMCC 1.1817T, followed by L. maris KCTC 42381T (98.3%). Furthermore, the average nucleotide identity (ANI) and digital DNA–DNA hybridization (dDDH) between strain TLK-CK17T and closely related strains L. penaei GDMCC 1.1817T, and L. maris KCTC 42381T were 79.9–85.6% and 23.9–29.6%, respectively. Based on presented results, we propose a novel species for which the name Lysobacter chinensis sp. nov. is suggested, with the type strain TLK-CK17T (=CCTCC AB2021257T= KCTC 92122T).

Ochratoxin A (OTA) is a naturally occurring mycotoxin that poses serious threats, such as kidney damage, to human health. Therefore, we developed a DNA walker-based dual-signal electrochemical ratiometric platform for OTA detection, which could overlook the variations in environmental and instrumental factors and DNA load densities. Cobalt metal-organic frameworks (Co-MOFs) and toluidine blue were used as the electrochemical signal tag and internal reference probe, respectively. In the presence of OTA, this developed machine resulted in the DNA labelled-Co-MOFs far away from the electrode. Thus, Co-MOFs signal at -1.18 V decreased, while toluidine blue at -0.28 V increased. This proposed strategy has displayed superior sensitivity (limit of detection = 0.31 fg/mL, linear range = 1-50 ng/mL) and high reproducibility. The sensor was also applied for determining OTA content in red wine samples and the results were comparable to those of commercial enzyme-linked immunoassay kits with satisfactory results.

The set-up considered by Pesaran (Econometrica, 2006) is extended to allow for endogenous explanatory variables. A class of instrumental variables estimators is studied and it is shown that estimators in this class are consistent and asymptotically normally distributed as both the cross-section and time-series dimensions tend to infinity.

This study aimed to explore the anti-tumor effect of icaritin loading poly (lactic-co-glycolic acid) nanoparticles (refer to PLGA@Icaritin NPs) on gastric cancer (GC) cells. Transmission Electron Microscope (TEM), size distribution, zeta potential, drug-loading capability, and other physicochemical characteristics of PLGA@Icaritin NPs were carried out. Furthermore, flow cytometry, confocal laser scanning microscope (CLSM), Cell Counting Kit-8 (CCK-8), Transwell, Elisa assay and Balb/c mice were applied to explore the cellular uptake, anti-proliferation, anti-metastasis, immune response activation effects, and related anti-tumor mechanism of PLGA@Icaritin NPs in vitro and in vivo. PLGA@Icaritin NPs showed spherical shape, with appropriate particle sizes and well drug loading and releasing capacities. Flow cytometry and CLSM results indicated that PLGA@Icaritin could efficiently enter into GC cells. CCK-8 proved that PLGA@Icaritin NPs dramatically suppressed cell growth, induced Lactic dehydrogenase (LDH) leakage, arrested more GC cells at G2 phase, and inhibited the invasion and metastasis of GC cells, compared to free icaritin. In addition, PLGA@Icaritin could help generate dozens of reactive oxygen species (ROS) within GC cells, following by significant mitochondrial membrane potentials (MMPs) loss and excessive production of oxidative-mitochondrial DNA (Ox-mitoDNA). Since that, Ox-mitoDNA further activated the releasing of damage associated molecular pattern molecules (DAMPs), and finally led to immunogenic cell death (ICD). Our in vivo data also elaborated that PLGA@Icaritin exerted a powerful inhibitory effect (∼80%), compared to free icaritin (∼60%). Most importantly, our results demonstrated that PLGA@Icaritin could activate the anti-tumor immunity via recruitment of infiltrating CD4+ cells, CD8+ T cells and increased secretion of cytokine immune factors, including interferon-γ (IFN-γ) tumor necrosis factor-α (TNF-α) and interleukin-1 (IL-1).++ Our findings validate that the successful design of PLGA@Icaritin, which can effectively active ICD and facilitate tumor recruitment in GC through inducing mitoDNA oxidative damage.

In this paper, we propose a simple inferential method for a wide class of panel data models with a focus on such cases that have both serial correlation and cross-sectional dependence. In order to establish an asymptotic theory to support the inferential method, we develop some new and useful higher-order expansions, such as Berry-Esseen bound and Edgeworth Expansion, under a set of simple and general conditions. We further demonstrate the usefulness of these theoretical results by explicitly investigating a panel data model with interactive effects which nests many traditional panel data models as special cases. Finally, we show the superiority of our approach over several natural competitors using extensive numerical studies.

Moving average infinity (MA(∞)) processes play an important role in modeling time series data. While a strand of literature on time series analysis emphasizes the importance of modeling smooth changes over time and therefore is shifting its focus from parametric models to nonparametric ones, MA(∞) processes with constant parameters are often part of the fundamental data generating mechanism. Along this line of research, an intuitive question is how to allow the underlying data generating mechanism evolves over time. To better capture the dynamics, this paper considers a new class of time-varying vector moving average infinity (VMA(∞)) processes. Accordingly, we establish some new asymptotic properties, including the law of large numbers, the uniform convergence, the central limit theory, the bootstrap consistency, and the long-run covariance matrix estimation for the class of time-varying VMA(∞) processes. Finally, we demonstrate the empirical relevance and usefulness of the newly proposed model and estimation theory through extensive simulated and real data studies.

Despite its paramount importance in the empirical growth literature, productivity convergence analysis has three issues that have yet to be addressed: (1) the hierarchical structure of industry-level datasets has little been fully explored; (2) industry-level technology heterogeneity has largely been ignored; and (3) crosssectional dependence has rarely been allowed for. This paper aims to address these three problems within a hierarchical panel data framework. We establish asymptotic properties for the proposed estimator, and apply the framework to a dataset of 23 manufacturing industries from a wide range of countries over the period 1963-2018. Our results show that both the manufacturing industry as a whole and individual manufacturing industries at the ISIC two-digit level exhibit strong conditional convergence in labour productivity, but not unconditional convergence. In addition, our results show that both global and industry-specific shocks are important in explaining the convergence behaviours of the manufacturing industries.

In this paper, we consider a wide class of time-varying multivariate causal processes that nests many classical and new examples as special cases. We first prove the existence of a weakly dependent stationary approximation for our model which is the foundation to initiate the theoretical development. Afterwards, we consider the QMLE estimation approach, and provide both point-wise and simultaneous inferences on the coefficient functions. In addition, we demonstrate the theoretical findings through both simulated and real data examples. In particular, we show the empirical relevance of our study using an application to evaluate the conditional correlations between the stock markets of China and U.S. We find that the interdependence between the two stock markets is increasing over time.

In this paper, we study the trending behaviour of COVID-19 data at country level, and draw attention to some existing econometric tools which are potentially helpful to understand the trend better in future studies. In our empirical study, we find that European countries overall flatten the curves more effectively compared to the other regions, while Asia & Oceania also achieve some success, but the situations are not as optimistic as in Europe. Africa and America are still facing serious challenges in terms of managing the spread of the virus and reducing the death rate. In Africa, the rate of the spread of the virus is slower and the death rate is also lower than those of the other regions. By comparing the performances of different countries, our results on the performance of different countries in managing the speed of the virus agree with Gu et al. (2020). For example, both studies agree that countries such as USA, UK and Italy perform relatively poorly; on the other hand, Australia, China, Japan, Korea, and Singapore perform relatively better.

This paper introduces a novel approach to study the effects of common shocks on panel data models with endogenous explanatory variables when the cross section dimension (N) is large and the time series dimension (T) is fixed: this relies on conditional strong laws of large numbers and conditional central limit theorems. These results can act as a useful reference for readers who wish to further investigate the effects of common shocks on panel data. The paper shows that the key assumption in determining consistency of the panel TSLS and LIML estimators is the independence of the factor loadings in the reduced form errors from the factor loadings in the exogenous variables and instruments conditional on the factors. We also show that these estimators have non-standard asymptotic distributions but tests on the coefficients have standard distributions under the null hypothesis provided the estimators are consistent.

Income elasticity dynamics of health expenditure is considered for the OECD and Eurozone over the period 1995-2014. Motivated by some modelling challenges, this paper studies a class of non-linear cointegration panel data models, controlling for cross-section dependence and certain endogeneity. Using the corresponding methods, our empirical analyses show a slight increase in the income elasticity of the healthcare expenditure over the years, but still with values under 1, meaning that healthcare is not a luxury good in the OECD and Eurozone.

Vector autoregressive (VAR) models are widely used in practical studies, e.g., forecasting, modelling policy transmission mechanism, and measuring connection of economic agents. To better capture the dynamics, this paper introduces a new class of time-varying VAR models in which the coefficients and covariance matrix of the error innovations are allowed to change smoothly over time. Accordingly, we establish a set of asymptotic properties including the impulse response analyses subject to structural VAR identification conditions, an information criterion to select the optimal lag, and a Wald-type test to determine the constant coefficients. Simulation studies are conducted to evaluate the theoretical findings. Finally, we demonstrate the empirical relevance and usefulness of the proposed methods through an application on US government spending multipliers.
