Functionalized single-walled carbon nanotubes into HKUST-1 ([Cu3-(btc)2]; btc = 1,3,5-benzenetricarboxylate) metal organic framework composite materials were synthesized by solvothermal method and characterized using different techniques such as XRD, BET,TG, SEM, and in situ Raman spectroscopy. It is important to mention that for the first time the thermal stability of the materials was determined by in situ Raman spectroscopy. Our results demonstrated that the incorporation of functionalized SWCNTs into HKUST-1 a slight increase in the thermal stability of MOF was observed. Too, a significant enhancement in the hydrogen adsorption capacity from 23.5% at 77 K and 1 bar of in the composite materials was observed. After of 5 cycles, hydrogen uptake is still above 2.98 wt% for 0.5SW/HKUST-1 sample. The hydrogen adsorption isotherms in the composite materials were completely reversible, reflecting only the physisorption of hydrogen molecule in the structure surface. Our results showed that the composite material with small amount of carbon nanotubes can be a promising candidate for the hydrogen storage.

Magnetite nanoparticles@Fe-BTC composite material was synthesized by a solvothermal method, where magnetite nanoparticles were added during the synthesis and was characterized by different analytical techniques analytical such as XRD, Raman and FTIR spectroscopy, and nitrogen physisorption at 77 K. Magnetite nanoparticles into Fe-BTC composite material was used in the adsorption of metals ions such as copper (Cu(II)), mercury (Hg (II)), arsenic (As (III)), and lead (Pb (II)). The experimental data of the adsorption of Cu(II), As (III), and Pb (II) metals ions showed a better fit to Langmuir isotherm model, while for the Hg (II) ion adsorption was observed a better adjusts to Temkin isotherm model. The kinetic pseudo-second-order model is the one that better describes the experimental data in all metal ions. The composite material showed a maximum adsorption capacity of 55 mg/g, 57 mg/g, 147 mg/g, and 155 mg/g for Cu (II), As (III), Pb (II), and Hg (II), respectively which was considerable. The adsorption selective for composite material in the mixed metal solution followed the order of Cu (II)> Pb (II) > Hg (II) > As (III). Therefore, composite material could be a good alternative as adsorbent material for the remediation of contaminated water by heavy metals.

Naproxen is an organic micropollutant widely distributed in municipal wastewaters and water bodies, it is not eliminated by wastewater treatment plants, and it accumulates in soil. In this research, the capability of the non-viable Rhizopus oryzae biomass (wet and dry) to sorb naproxen at environmentally relevant concentrations was assessed in batch experiments. Naproxen sorption was carried out as a function of pH and modeled by kinetic and equilibrium equations. Naproxen sorption increased with increasing pH values using wet biomass, but it also increased at acidic pH values with dried biomass. Dried biomass was more efficient and faster in removing naproxen and the maximum sorption was 1027.45 μg naproxen per gram of dried biomass at pH 4.7. Wet biomass sorption capacity was low and slow, and the equilibrium was achieved at 7 days, whereas with dried biomass at 26 h. Freundlich isotherm describes naproxen sorption by dried biomass.
