We have performed a spectral-timing analysis on the black hole X-ray binary MAXI J1535--571 during its 2017 outburst, with the aim of exploring the evolution of the inner accretion flow geometry. X-ray reverberation lags are observed in the hard-intermediate state (HIMS) and soft-intermediate state (SIMS) of the outburst. During the HIMS, the characteristic frequency of the reverberation lags $\nu_0$ (the frequency at which the soft lag turns to zero in the lag-frequency spectra) increases when the spectrum softens. This reflects a reduction of the spatial distance between the corona and accretion disc, when assuming the measured time lags are associated with the light travel time. We also find a strong correlation between $\nu_0$ and type-C Quasi Periodic Oscillation (QPO) centroid frequency $\nu_{QPO}$, which can be well explained by the Lense-Thirring (L-T) precession model under a truncated disk geometry. Despite the degeneracy in the spectral modellings, our results suggest that the accretion disc is largely truncated in the low hard state (LHS), and moves inward as the spectrum softens. Combine the spectral modelling results with the $\nu_0$ - $\nu_{QPO}$ evolution, we are inclined to believe that this source probably have a truncated disk geometry in the hard state.

The popularity of «Prose Poems» (1878–1882) by Ivan Sergeevich Turgenev dates back more than a hundred years, while they remain the very first works of the writer, translated into Chinese. The study of Turgenev has gained particular relevance in China. This article discusses the understudied issue of the influence of the Turgenev’s prose poem «Threshold» on Chinese literature through the example of the work of the classics of Chinese literature of the first half of the 20th century, such as Lu Xin (1881–1936), the father of the modern Chinese novel, Li Ni (1913–1968), the singer of «sorrow and grief», and Lu Li (1908–1942), one of the founders of the new Chinese lyrical prose. Using the comparative method, the article analyses the artistic features of the following prose poems: «The Traveler» by Lu Xin, «The Falcon Song» by Li Ni, and «The Door and the Recluse» by Lu Li. The author reveals the significant influence that the philosophical ideas of Turgenev and his creative style had on these writers and Chinese literature in general. The comparative analysis shows that in the poems of Lu Sin and Li Ni, the spatial characteristics of Turgenev's prose poem «The Threshold» are recreated, while Lu Li was inspired by the philosophical meaning of this work of art. In this way, opening a new page for Russian literary scholars in the history of the relationship between Russian and Chinese cultures, the research topic and the analysis done reveal new material for Russian literary studies about on the history of the reception of Turgenev‘s creative work in China.

The number of Sertoli cells in the testis is a major regulator on the sperm production capacity. MicroRNAs (miRNAs) participate in regulating the proliferation and apoptosis of porcine immature Sertoli cells. However, the functions and mechanisms of action of most identified miRNAs in porcine Sertoli cells remain largely unknown. In the present study, based on our previous results from an EdU-based high-content screening assay, we further studied the mechanism of action of miR-191 on the proliferation and apoptosis of porcine immature Sertoli cells through flow cytometry, Western blotting, and dual-luciferase activity analyses. To understand the epidemic status of clonorchiasis and awareness of prevention and control knowledge in Xinfeng County of Jiangxi Province, so as to provide the evidences for control measures.The baseline survey was carried out with a clue in vestigation of raw-fish eating behavior in potential endemic areas in 2016.The residents were examined by stool tests. The metacercariae ofThe residents in 26 villages had the habit of eating raw freshwater fish, and 19.51% of the respondents had this habit. The average infection rates of the population,Twenty-six villages in five townships were endemic areas of clonorchiasis in Xinfeng County. The permanent solution of prevention and control of clonorchiasis is to strengthen the health education and change the habit of raw-fish eating gradually.[

The purpose of this dissertation is to examine whether the implementation of site-based management leads to higher levels of principal autonomy and more collaborative decision-making processes between principals and teachers. It also measures the effects of principals’ job autonomy and other principal- and school-related factors on the levels of principal turnover. The data of this dissertation mainly come from the 2011-12 Schools and Staffing Survey (SASS) and the 2012-13 Principal Follow-up Survey (PFS). The controlled principal- and school-related factors include the individual characteristics of the principal, the contextual factors of the school which assess the physical background of the school and the composition of the student and teacher body, and also the working conditions of the principal. Using Wald-tests, linear regression models and logit regression models, I find that charter school principals perceive that they have higher levels of job autonomy than do traditional public school principals. I also find more collaborative and democratic decision-making processes in charter schools than in traditional public schools. In addition, I find that the levels of principals’ job autonomy negatively affect their turnover rates. Charter school principals, however, are more likely than traditional public school principals to leave their jobs even though they enjoy higher levels of job autonomy. The differences in the contextual factors of the school drive the higher levels of turnover probability among charter school principals.

We reply to the comment by Jung, Bokes, and Godby (arXiv:0706.0140) on our paper Phys. Rev. Lett. 94, 186810 (2005). We show that the results in their comment should not be taken as an indication that the viscosity corrections to the conductance of real nanoscale structures are small. We combine ab initio, tight-binding methods and analytical theory to study piezoelectric effect of boron nitride nanotubes. We find that piezoelectricity of a heteropolar nanotube depends on its chirality and diameter and can be understood starting from the piezoelectric response of an isolated planar sheet, along with a structure specific mapping from the sheet onto the tube surface. We demonstrate that coupling between the uniaxial and shear deformation are only allowed in the nanotubes with lower chiral symmetry.
