Recoil nuclei produce high ionization and excitation densities in organic scintillators leading to reduced light yield via ionization quenching. To improve understanding of the relationship between organic scintillator specific luminescence and the characteristics of the recoil particle, this work evaluates proton and carbon light yield data using ionization quenching models over an energy range of tens of keV to several MeV for protons and 1-5 MeV for carbon ions. Previously-measured proton and carbon light yield data were examined for a variety of commercial and novel organic scintillating media: EJ-309, a liquid with pulse shape discrimination (PSD) properties; EJ-204, a fast plastic; EJ-276, a PSD-capable plastic; and a custom organic glass scintillator developed by Sandia National Laboratories. The canonical model of Birks did not adequately describe the ionization quenching behavior. Models proposed by Yoshida et al. and Voltz et al. provided a reasonable description of the proton light yield of a variety of organic scintillators over a broad energy range, but additional work is needed to extend the models to carbon ions. The impact of stopping power data was also investigated by comparing model predictions using SRIM and PSTAR/MSTAR libraries, and the results show a significant discrepancy for carbon ions. This work enhances understanding of ionization quenching and facilitates the accurate modeling of scintillator-based neutron detection systems relevant for medical physics, nuclear security and nonproliferation, and basic science studies.

Breast cancer is the most common malignant tumor in adult women. Its common metastatic sites are lymph nodes, bones, lungs, the liver, and the brain. It is so rare for a patient with breast cancer to have metastases of the gastrointestinal tract, peritoneum, and ovary at the same time that the clinical reporting rate is low. We present a case of a 61-year-old woman who underwent right mastectomy and chemoradiotherapy 3 years ago because of mixed invasive ductal-lobular breast cancer. This time, she came to the hospital due to the symptom of stomach discomfort for 2 weeks. The gastroscopy biopsy result showed gastric metastasis from breast cancer. Then, 18F-FDG imaging and 68Ga-FAPI PET/CT imaging were performed for further diagnosis; 68Ga-FAPI PET/CT demonstrated a significantly elevated FAPI activity in the thickened gastric wall, peritoneum, and bilateral adnexal areas, which was superior to that of 18F-FDG. Finally, a biopsy of suspicious lesions was taken for pathological and histochemical examination, which confirmed that, in addition to the gastric metastasis, the peritoneum and bilateral ovaries were all consistent with metastatic breast cancer.

Mycobacterium tuberculosis (M. tuberculosis) is a highly pathogenic intracellular pathogen that causes tuberculosis (TB), the leading cause of mortality from single infections. Redox homeostasis plays a very important role in the resistance of M. tuberculosis to antibiotic damage and various environmental stresses. The antioxidant sulforaphane (SFN) has been reported to exhibit anticancer activity and inhibit the growth of a variety of bacteria and fungi. Nonetheless, it remains unclear whether SFN exhibits anti-mycobacterial activity. Our results showed that the SFN against M. tuberculosis H37Ra exhibited bactericidal activity in a time and dose-dependent manner. The anti-tubercular activity of SFN was significantly correlated with bacterial reactive oxygen species (ROS) levels. In addition, SFN promoted the bactericidal effect of macrophages on intracellular bacteria in a dose-dependent manner, mediated by increasing intracellular mitochondrial ROS levels and decreasing cytoplasmic ROS levels. Taken together, our data revealed the previously unrecognized antimicrobial functions of SFN. Future studies focusing on the mechanism of SFN in macrophages against M. tuberculosis are essential for developing new host-directed therapeutic approaches against TB.

SETDB1 is characterized as an important epigenetic regulator in many different cancers and involved in transcriptional silencing of many different processes and pathways. It is often overexpressed in many different cancers including colon, melanoma, breast and pancreatic cancers and its high expression is correlated with worse patient outcome. Often associated with repressing complexes such as HUSH and KAP1/KRAB, it has been shown to repress many different genes such as p53 and p21 through histone H3K9 methylation. In addition, it has been implicated in regulating transposable elements (TEs), primarily of the LTR types as well as SINEs and LINEs. Activation of TEs is key to induction of anti-viral response genes such as the type I interferon pathway and immune-stimulated genes (ISGs) which in turn promote innate immune response against the tumor. Here, we show that SETDB1 promotes tumor growth in endometrial cancer possibly through establishing an immune evasion from the innate immune system. Mice subcutaneously injected with SETDB1 depleted endometrial cancer cells show prolonged survival time and reduced tumorigenesis. In NSG mice, we demonstrate that subcutaneously injected endometrial cancer cell, ISHIKAWA, shows both increased penetration and recruitment of macrophages in the tumor when SETDB1 is knocked out. Our macrophage-cancer cells co-culture in-vitro assay suggests that macrophages induce greater killing in SETDB1-/- cells when stimulated into M1 phenotype more so than in WT cancer cells. Further, tumor IHC analysis shows greater proliferation capacity for control tumor relative to SETDB1-/- as evident by greater mitotic figures per unit area and Ki67 staining score. We further show that cytokines such as CCL5 and CXCL9 (previously reported for their positive correlation with T-cell infiltration in tumor) are significantly upregulated in SETDB1 knockout tumors relative to non-targeting control tumors (NT) as well as in cell lines. Endometrial cancer TCGA data show significant negative correlation between SETDB1 and markers of T-cell infiltration such as CD8A and IFNG as well as cytokines CCL5 and CXCL9. Overall, these findings show important implication of SETDB1 in macrophage recruitment and macrophage-mediated killing of cancer cells in addition to its role in promoting tumor cells proliferation. In this paper, we numerically demonstrate a dual-wavelength chiral metasurface with the chirality only existing at two resonant wavelengths, making use of the excitation of two quasi-bound states in the continuum (quasi-BICs). This chiral metasurface is constructed on the basis of photonic crystal slabs with square lattice of circular holes by introducing rectangular holes as perturbations. The two quasi-BICs supported by chiral metasurface are orthogonal to each other, thus the chirality at the two resonant wavelengths can be controlled independently by changing the geometry of the perturbations. Furthermore, a chirality-switchable metasurface is demonstrated taking advantage of the sensitivity of quasi-BICs to the variation of out-of-plane symmetry caused by changing refractive index of surroundings. The proposed chiral metasurface could find potential applications in nonlinear optics, sensing, imaging and near-to-eye displays.

Uterine endometrial cancer (EC) incidence and deaths are on the rise. Hormone therapy, a traditional treatment regimen for this disease, uses progesterone and its synthetic analogue, progestin, to induce cell differentiation, apoptosis, and inhibition of invasion. This therapy is highly effective for progesterone receptor (PR) positive tumors in the short term. However, responsiveness decreases over time due to loss of PR expression; acquired resistance leads to treatment failure and poor prognosis. Primary resistance occurs in advanced, PR-negative tumors. Regardless, progestin therapy can be effective if the PR downregulation mechanism is reversed and if functional PR expression is restored. Using histone deacetylase inhibitors (HDACi), we inhibited cell proliferation in three EC cell lines and restored functional PR expression at the mRNA and protein levels. Two HDACi were tested using an endometrial xenograft tumor model: entinostat, an oral drug, and romidepsin, an IV drug.

Tumor neoantigens are aberrant polypeptides produced by tumor cells as a result of genomic mutations. They are also tumor-specific antigens (TSA). Neoantigens are more immunogenic than tumor-related antigens and do not induce autoimmunity. Based on the rapid development of bioinformatics and the continuous update of sequencing technology, cancer immunotherapy with tumor neoantigens has made promising breakthroughs and progress. In this review, the generation, prediction, and identification of novel antigens, as well as the individualized treatments of neoantigens, were first introduced. Secondly, the mechanism of Chimeric Antigen Receptor T-Cell Immunotherapy (CAR-T) therapy and immune checkpoint blockade therapy in the treatment of tumors were outlined, and the three treatment methods were compared. Thirdly, the application of neoantigens in CAR-T therapy and PD-1/PD-L1 blockade therapy was briefly described. The benefits of the neoantigen vaccines over common vaccines were summarized as well. Finally, the prospect of neoantigen therapy was presented.

Photonics is currently undergoing an era of miniaturization thanks in part to two-dimensional (2D) optical metasurfaces. Their ability to sculpt and redirect optical momentum can give rise to an optical force, which acts orthogonally to the direction of light propagation. Powered by a single unfocused light beam, these lateral optical forces (LOFs) can be used to drive advanced metavehicles and are controlled via the incident beam’s polarization. However, the full control of a metavehicle on a 2D plane (i.e. forward, backward, left, and right) with a sign-switchable LOF remains a challenge. Here we present a phase-gradient metasurface route for achieving such full control while also increasing efficiency. The proposed metasurface is able to deflect a normally incident plane wave in a traverse direction by modulating the plane wave’s polarization, and results in a sign-switchable recoil LOF. When applied to a metavehicle, this LOF enables a level of motion control that was previously unobtainable.

The stability of combustion in the process of fire flooding requires not only a reasonable gas injection rate but also a matching exhaust rate. A reasonable injection-production balance system is very important. Based on the material balance of injection-production, the expression of injection-production ratio suitable for normal fire flooding production is established. The air injection rate of fire flooding combustion and oxygen consumption of formation pressurization is analyzed by this formula to calculate the gas production and liquid production in combustion. The reasonable injection and production parameters for the oilfield are calculated by using the oilfield parameters. It can be seen that the calculated value of injection-production ratio is consistent with the actual value, which shows that the injection-production ratio is reasonable and can guide the adjustment of production parameters in the oilfield.

Convolutional neural network (CNN) is recognized as state of the art of deep learning algorithm, which has a good ability on the image classification and recognition. The problems of CNN are as follows: the precision, accuracy and efficiency of CNN are expected to be improved to satisfy the requirements of high performance. The main work is as follows: Firstly, wavelet convolutional neural network (wCNN) is proposed, where wavelet transform function is added to the convolutional layers of CNN. Secondly, wavelet convolutional wavelet neural network (wCwNN) is proposed, where fully connected neural network (FCNN) of wCNN and CNN are replaced by wavelet neural network (wNN). Thirdly, image classification experiments using CNN, wCNN and wCwNN algorithms, and comparison analysis are implemented with MNIST dataset. The effect of the improved methods are as follows: (1) Both precision and accuracy are improved. (2) The mean square error and the rate of error are reduced. (3) The complexitie of the improved algorithms is increased.

The process of the fluid catalytic cracking (FCC) is accompanied by complex physical and chemical reactions and phase transition processes. For the FCC process–maximizing isoparaffin process (MIP), coupled simulation and optimization of flow reaction can meet the requirements for the design and operation of high efficiency, low energy consumption, low pollution, and low cost in the catalytic device. A combination of Eulerian–Eulerian model and 11-lump kinetic model is adopted to simulate the flow-reaction process of gas–solid two-phase of an industrial MIP riser reactor. A drag model based on the energy-minimization multiscale model established by Yang is incorporated into FLUENT through a user-defined function (UDF). The temperature distribution of the catalyst and the concentration of each product component at the outlet are in good agreement with the industrial measured data, which indicates that the established coupling model of flow reaction and drag model are reliable and effective. The two operating variables of the catalyst-to-oil ratio and catalyst inlet temperature are explored their effects on the flow-reaction process of FCC gas–solid two-phase. In the prelifting zone, the velocity of catalyst particles presents parabolic distribution. In the first reaction zone, the maximum velocity of catalyst particles is about 1/2 of the radius of the riser. In the second reaction zone, the maximum particle velocity of catalyst is located in the central region, with a slight increase in about 1/2 of the radius of the riser. The increase in catalyst-to-oil ratio leads to the decrease in the yield of diesel oil and the increase in yields of gasoline, liquefied petroleum gas, propylene, and dry gas. The changes in the catalyst inlet temperature affect the product distribution of the outlet component, which can provide an important guiding significance.

Control parameters of classical control system are expected to be online tuned and optimized by intelligent methods, in order to improve performance and help engineers reduce a lot of repetitive work in dangerous and harmful working environments. Main ideas and works of this paper are as follows:Firstly, change ratio based expert PID control method (EA-PID) is proposed to expand range of control parameters. Expert rule table (ERT) of expert PID control method (E-PID) is replaced by change ratio table (CRT) of EA-PID. Adjusted parameters of EA-PID are the results of multiplying change ratios in current adjusting cycle and control parameters in previous adjusting cycle. Secondly, NARX prediction-based NARX-E-PID and NARX-EA-PID are proposed. The NARX neural network is designed as a time series predictor to predict the output of the control system, then control parameters are adjusted according to the predicted output. Thirdly, comparative simulations of all the above methods are implemented to verify the improved effects. Finally, theoretical analysis is provided to ensure the stability of control systems. Effect are as follows: Firstly, comparative simulations verify that the improved methods have faster control speed, smaller steady-state error, less overshoot, and better ability of anti-interference. Secondly, theoretical analysis shows that the unstable control systems with adjusted parameters can be changed into a stable system by stability judgment in each adjusting cycle.

Electrical double layer capacitors (EDLCs) featuring low-cost and solution-processable electrode materials have attracted significant research interest for their green and economical applications in energy harvesting and storage devices. Here, we demonstrate a novel synthetic route for films of an underexplored 3-D hexagonal bismuth chalcohalide, Bi13S18I2, and investigate its potential as the active electrode material in EDLC-type supercapacitors. The synthetic procedure has been optimised and comprises the lowest annealing temperature (150 °C) and the shortest processing time (1 h) currently reported. When integrated in a symmetrical EDLC with an aqueous NaClO4 electrolyte, the Bi13S18I2-based device achieves a remarkable areal capacitance of 210.68 mF cm−2 with 99.7% capacitance retention after 5000 cycles. Both the Bi13S18I2 powder and thin-film electrodes have been characterized through XRD, XPS, Raman spectroscopy, and SEM. The superior stability, low-cost, and facile synthesis of Bi13S18I2 proves its promising potential for supercapacitor applications.

As a promising flat optical element, metasurfaces possess the powerful ability to manipulate chromatic dispersion, resulting in achromatic imaging, ultracompact spectrometers, and wavelength-dependent multifunctional nano-devices. However, conventional chromatic metalenses are incapable of arbitrarily tailoring dispersion within different bandwidths. Here, with a supercell composed of two nanostructures, we can arbitrarily control the chromatic dispersion of the metalens by using the phase differential equation and genetic optimization. We design three metalenses to verify the simultaneous tailoring of different chromatic dispersions in dual bands, which exhibits stronger chromatic dispersion manipulation capability compared with a single-structure-cell-based metalens. Our approach paves a new way for dispersion engineering of metalenses with potential applications in spectral imaging and material analysis.

A Bessel beam has the properties of propagation invariance and a self-healing effect, leading to a variety of interesting phenomena and applications. Recently, as a planar diffractive element with miniaturized size, metasurfaces are widely employed to manipulate light in the subwavelength region, including generating a Bessel beam. However, such a metasurface-generated Bessel beam allows output light with no tunable functions. Here, with the interplay of the geometric phase and the dynamic phase, we propose a method to generate and allow conversion from any orthogonal polarizations to independent Bessel beams with a single-layer dielectric metasurface. The simulation results indicate that the arbitrary conversion between different Bessel beams is related to the spin-dependent orbit motion caused by the tight-focusing effect, leading to the singularity of the spot. This physical mechanism is well studied and the theoretical model for revealing the dependence of different incident polarization on the conversion dynamics is presented. Our approach paves a way for efficient generation and multifunctional applications, ranging from high-numerical-aperture devices to compact nanophotonic platforms for spin-dependent structured beams.

Metalens, a prominent application of two-dimensional metasurfaces, has demonstrated powerful abilities even beyond traditional optical lenses. By manipulating the phase distribution of metalens composed of appropriately arranged nanoscale building blocks, the wavefront of incident wave can be controlled based on Huygens principle, thus achieving the desired reflected and transmitted wave for many different purposes. Metalenses will lead a revolution in optical imaging due to its flat nature and compact size, multispectral acquisition and even off-axis focusing. Here, we review the recent progress of metalenses presenting excellent properties, with a focus on the imaging application using these metalenses. We firstly discuss the mechanism for achieving metalenses with high efficiency, large numerical aperture, controlling the chromatic dispersion or monochromatic aberrations and large area fabrication. Then, we review several important imaging applications including wide-band focusing imaging, polarization dependent imaging, light field imaging and some other significant imaging systems in different areas. Finally, we make a conclusion with an outlook on the future development and challenges of this developing research field.

Metalenses with non-trivial performance, abundant applications, and tremendous potential, have emerged as a flat optical element or configuration in recent years. The increasing concerns about how to integrate more functions into a single metalens have become a hot topic. Here, based on a genetic algorithm, we demonstrate several metalenses with more than two optical functions depending on the wavelength of light. We first design three arbitrary chromatic dispersive metalenses, whose focal planes can be determined at will at different wavelengths. Then, a metalens-based color router is presented, which is able to guide and focus the light with four wavelengths to different positions. Furthermore, we exhibit a tri-functional structured light generator to produce focused beam, focused orbital angular momentum beam, and the Bessel beam at three wavelengths, respectively. Our results may have potential applications in dispersion manipulation, optical micro-manipulation, and subwavelength resolution spectral imaging.

The bookstore is an integral part of campus public service, and it is an essential place for reading, learning and spending for teachers and students. Provided the current management and development problems faced by old campus bookstores, this article takes the old campus bookstore in the Huangjiahu campus of Wuhan University of Science and Technology as a research case while uses space syntax theory, Depthmap software, and axis models to analyzes and evaluate accessibility, and then optimize campus old location and layout of bookstores. Simultaneously, by using the analytic hierarchy process, the simulated bookstore sites of selection in the campus are tested at the target level, decision level and plan level. This article aims to propose optimization methods for the management and development of old campus bookstores from the perspective of spatial location selection through qualitative quantification and provide constructive references for similar research.

Optical tweezers (OTs) and optical spanners (OSs) are powerful tools of optical manipulation, which are responsible for particle trapping and rotation, respectively. Conventionally, the OT and OS are built using bulky three-dimensional devices, such as microscope objectives and spatial light modulators. Recently, metasurfaces are proposed for setting up them on a microscale platform, which greatly miniaturizes the systems. However, the realization of both OT and OS with one identical metasurface is posing a challenge. Here, we offer a metasurface-based solution to integrate the OT and OS. Using the prevailing approach based on geometric and dynamic phases, we show that it is possible to construct an output field, which promises a high-numerical-aperture focal spot, accompanied with a coaxial vortex. Optical trapping and rotation are numerically demonstrated by estimating the mechanical effects on a particle probe. Moreover, we demonstrate an on-demand control of the OT-to-OS distance and the topological charge possessed by the OS. By revealing the OT–OS metasurfaces, our results may empower advanced applications in on-chip particle manipulation.

Two organic–inorganic iodobismuthates, C5H6NBiI4 ([py][BiI4]) and C6H8NBiI4 ([mepy][BiI4]), have been prepared with their structures revealed by single-crystal X-ray diffraction. One-dimensional BiI4− anionic chains built by edge-sharing BiI6 octahedra were found in both materials; short I⋯I, I⋯C contacts and hydrogen bonding give rise to three-dimensional intermolecular interactions. Both compounds are semiconductors, with band gaps of around 2.0 eV, and the contribution from the organic moieties to the conduction band minimum has been derived by density functional theory. Solid-state optical and electrochemical studies performed on powders and thin films were carried out, and their stabilities under an ambient environment have been demonstrated. Their use as the absorber layer in printable mesoscopic solar cells without any hole transport material has led to efficiencies up to 0.9%, showing a promising new approach towards the development of lead-free third-generation photovoltaic materials.

To meet the requirement of high molar extinction coefficient, broad absorption spectrum, and photo/thermal stability for sensitizers of quasi-solid-state dye-sensitized solar cells (Qs-DSSCs) with reduced film thickness, a novel D-A-π-A configuration organic sensitizer IQ22 was specifically designed, in which the conjugation bridge of cyclopentadithiophene (CPDT) unit was incorporated to widen the light response and enhance molar coefficients for increasing the short-circuit current density (JSC), and the octane chain on CPDT was targeted for suppressing the charge recombination and improving the open-circuit voltage (VOC). As a result, the Qs-DSSC based on IQ22 exhibits very promising conversion efficiency as high as 8.76%, with a JSC of 18.19 mA cm–2, a VOC of 715 mV, and a fill factor (FF) of 0.67 under AM 1.5 illumination (100 mW cm–2), standing out in the Qs-DSSCs utilizing metal-free organic sensitizers.

Metasurfaces are 2D metamaterials composed of subwavelength nanoantennas according to specific design. They have been utilized to precisely manipulate various parameters of light fields, such as phase, polarization, amplitude, etc., showing promising functionalities. Among all meta-devices, the metalens can be considered as the most basic and important application, given its significant advantage in integration and miniaturization compared with traditional lenses. However, the resonant dispersion of each nanoantenna in a metalens and the intrinsic chromatic dispersion of planar devices and optical materials result in a large chromatic aberration in metalenses that severely reduces the quality of their focusing and imaging. Consequently, how to effectively suppress or manipulate the chromatic aberration of metalenses has attracted worldwide attention in the last few years, leading to variety of excellent achievements promoting the development of this field. Herein, recent progress in chromatic dispersion control based on metalenses is reviewed.

Distributed polarization coupling detection can be used for force sensing of polarization-maintaining fiber (PMF). In this paper, finite element analysis (FEA) is adopted to simulate the distributed polarization coupling force sensing of PMF. The initial thermal stress birefringence produced by the drawing process of PMF is simulated. In addition, the polarization coupling strength of PMF under transverse forces is analyzed. Also, the position of the dynamic force coupling point in a distributed white light interference (WLI) system is demodulated. The experimental results from a WLI system are in agreement with the FEA results. FEA is an effective numerical analysis method which can be used in the entire process of PMF production, force analysis, and sensing demodulation.

The chromatic aberration of metasurfaces limits their application. How to cancel or utilize the large chromatic dispersion of metasurfaces becomes an important issue. Here, we design Si-based metasurfaces to realize flexible chromatic dispersion manipulation in mid-infrared region. We demonstrate the broadband achromatic metalens and achromatic gradient metasurface to cancel the chromatic aberration over a continuous bandwidth (8–12 μm). In contrast, the metalens and gradient metasurface with enhanced chromatic dispersion have also been realized, where the focal length and deflection angle with different wavelengths vary more significantly than the conventional devices designed with geometric phase. These demonstrations indicate promising potential applications.

Recently, enormous research passion has been devoted to enhance the power conversion efficiency (PCE) of porphyrin sensitizers for dye-sensitized solar cells (DSSCs), but the major stumbling block is the absorption defect in the visible-light region. To address this challenge, high-performance DSSCs are reported based on a new donor-π-acceptor sensitizer FW-1, 7H-dibenzo[c,g]carbazole-substituted and fused zinc porphyrin, co-sensitized with a benzotriazole-containing dye (WS-5) in iodine and cobalt redox systems, and high PCEs of 10.21 and 10.42 %, respectively, were obtained. An unprecedented breakthrough was obtained by making one sensitizer suitable for several electrolyte systems because of its appropriate molecular orbitals and co-sensitizer.

Supercapacitors are well-known as promising energy storage devices capable of bridging the gap between conventional electrolytic capacitors and batteries to deliver both high power and energy densities for applications in electric vehicles and a smart energy grid. However, many reported instances of high-capacitance pseudocapacitors employ strong Faradaic reactions that hinder fast charge–discharge cycles and long-term stability, limiting their commercial viability. In this study, we utilise an economical and solution-processable procedure to fabricate a Cs3Bi2I9-based symmetric supercapacitor employing both electric double layer capacitance and pseudocapacitance with an aqueous NaClO4 electrolyte to deliver an outstanding device areal capacitance of 2.4 F cm−2 and specific capacitance of 280 F g−1. The Cs3Bi2I9 device achieves an excellent 88% capacitance retention after 5000 charge–discharge cycles, proving its long-term cycle stability and promise as a practical supercapacitor. We characterise the time-dependent charge storage mechanisms through cyclic voltammetry and electrochemical impedance spectroscopy to find that electrostatic charge accumulation predominates at high potentials (0.3–0.6 V) whereas weak, Faradaic charge adsorption and pore penetration bolster charge storage at lower potentials (0.0–0.2 V).

Hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) is the main cause of cancer mortality worldwide. Its poor prognosis is mainly ascribed to high recurrence rate. Identifying novel prognostic biomarkers and therapeutic targets would be vital for HCC management. Long noncoding RNA (lncRNA) is a class of RNA with various roles in tumorigenesis. The aim of this study was to investigate the clinical significance and functions of lncRNA-small nucleolar RNA host gene 1 (SNHG1) in HCC. In this study, we found SNHG1 was upregulated in HCC tissues in comparison with adjacent liver tissues in both publicly available microarray data and our own cohort. High SNHG1 expression was correlated with large tumor size, poor differentiation, and aggressive BCLC stage. Kaplan-Meier survival analysis demonstrated that high SNHG1 expression predicts poor prognosis of HCC patients. Gain-of-function and loss-of function experiments showed that SNHG1 promotes HCC cells proliferation, cell cycle progression, and inhibits HCC cells apoptosis. Further experiments revealed that SNHG1 promotes HCC cells proliferation through inhibiting p53 and p53-target genes expression. Collectively, our results demonstrated the clinical prognostic significance and roles of SNHG1 in HCC, and suggested that SNHG1 may be considered as a prognostic biomarker and therapeutic target for HCC.
