The study deals with the analysis of monoclonal immunoglobulins (paraproteins, M-components) in sera and urine of 52 patients with malignant monoclonal gammapathies. Toe examination included detection of paraproteins and immunochemical identification of their class, light chain type, kappa/lambda ratio, and subclass in the cases with bi- and triclonal variants. The observed distribution of isotypes and light chain types among paraproteins was different from that of normal serum immunoglobulins and that reported in literature. The results are discussed in the light of the current view of the problem of molecular phenomena in malignant monoclonal gammapathies and of their clinical significance.
