The aims of this study are (a) to examine how adults from four countries (Australia, China, Pakistan, United States) view the relationships between science and religion and (b) to determine whether individuals with different views about these relationships have different attitudes toward current crises facing the world (COVID-19 and climate change).

This preregistration is being written after the structural analyses in the first part of the sample have been completed but before any of the analyses listed in the "Behaviors Toward God VALIDITY PREREGISTRATION" have been conducted.

This study will focus on responses to two events: a major positive event and a major negative event from one’s own life, which will be counterbalanced. We will use this study to pilot measures, examine gratitude to God predictors, and compare relief and radiance responses. This will be a lengthy study (at least one hour) including many background and situation-specific measures and an in-depth assessment of gratitude and gratitude to God, along with associated emotions and behaviors. Some experimental elements are also piloted here. See Tables 1 through 3 for more details.

The purpose of this preregistration is to confirm the structure of items on the RSS-14 (using ESEM and CFA) and to examine the predictive validity and stability of the RSS-14 subscales.

This is a short addendum to the original preregistration (see Preregistration_PTG_WB_Resources.docx; https://osf.io/kprfh/?view_only=ecc3920170624357bfa1b02deb167479). The purpose of the addendum is to plan follow-up analyses testing hypotheses about the relationships between perceptions of posttraumatic growth and resources (psychological, social, spiritual) over time.

When believers in God are under stress, they may respond with various behaviors toward God. People may turn away from God or reject God (Disengagement/Exit), or they might pray to God or draw close to God (Approach). People might also protest or complain to God (Protest), or they may push down or suppress negative feelings toward God (Suppression). The structure of the items included in scales measuring these constructs (items appear in the Variables section of this preregistration) has not been evaluated using Exploratory Structural Equation Modeling (ESEM) or in the current data set. The purpose of this preregistration is to examine the structure of items assessing behaviors toward God using ESEM and CFA.

Purpose of this preregistration: To preregister a broad analytic plan and some specific hypotheses related to an ongoing study on gratitude and gratitude to God among undergraduates (Gratitude to God: Base Study; https://osf.io/693qz/). This preregistration does NOT cover the whole base study dataset. Instead, it has a specific, practical aim: A new survey and preregistration are now being designed for a spinoff project, Gratitude to God: A CloudResearch study. The plan is to select a subset of measures from the much longer (2-hour) base study among undergraduates for the much more tightly focused (circa 20-minute) version to be given to U.S. adults via CloudResearch.

This preregistration gives an overview of predictions and measures relevant to political polarization, as part of the same dataset from this main OSF project on the 2020 election. This preregistration is being done so that the new hypotheses can be uploaded.

In the present study, we aim to take a step in progressing toward a greater understanding of gratitude to God (GTG) by exploring the role of GTG in adaptation to adverse events. Specifically, we will examine the potential affective underpinnings of GTG in the context of a negative event, and we will test whether GTG in response to the negative event predicts higher levels of spiritual growth (i.e., increased closeness to God). We will also conduct parallel analyses for a positive event to determine whether GTG functions uniquely across events of different valence.

The current project will conduct an experimental investigation into whether manipulating the desire to believe in God changes in beliefs in God, perceived experiences with God, and conscious wanting to believe in God.

This study assesses opinions about psychedelic use among U.S. adults, with an emphasis on interfaces with supernatural, spiritual, and religious beliefs.
