Limited studies are available concerning on the earlier identification of AKI with sepsis. The aim of the study was to identify the risk factors of AKI early which depended on the timing onset and progression of AKI and investigate the effects of timing onset and progression of AKI on clinical outcomes. Patients who developed sepsis during their first 48-h admission to ICU were included. The primary outcome was major adverse kidney events (MAKE) consisted of all-cause mortality, RRT-dependence, or an inability to recover to 1.5 times of the baseline creatinine value up to 30 days. We determined MAKE and in-hospital mortality by multivariable logistic regression and explored the risk factors of early persistent-AKI. C statistics were used to evaluate model fit. 58.7% sepsis patients developed AKI. According to the timing onset and progression of AKI, Early transient-AKI, early persistent-AKI, late transient-AKI, late persistent-AKI were identified. Clinical outcomes were quite different among subgroups. Early persistent-AKI had 3.0-fold (OR 3.04, 95% CI 1.61 − 4.62) risk of MAKE and 2.6-fold (OR 2.60, 95%CI 1.72 − 3.76) risk of in-hospital mortality increased compared with the late transients-AKI. Older age, underweight, obese, faster heart rate, lower MAP, platelet, hematocrit, pH and energy intake during the first 24 h on ICU admission could well predict the early persistent-AKI in patients with sepsis. Four AKI subphenotypes were identified based on the timing onset and progression of AKI. Early persistent-AKI showed higher risk of major adverse kidney events and in-hospital mortality. Nano-silica (SiO2) has been widely used to fill rubbers (crosslinked) and usual polyolefin elastomers (POEs). SiO2 filled POE with crystalline structure can also be crosslinked. Crystallization, structure, and mechanical properties of crosslinked POE/SiO2 composites can be affected by SiO2. In this paper, crosslinked POE/SiO2 composites were obtained through two different methods: dynamic crosslinking in molten state and static crosslinking. For the non-crosslinked and static crosslinked composites, SiO2 had a more significant effect on the nucleation in non-crosslinked POE than in static crosslinked POE. For the dynamic crosslinked composite, SiO2 and crosslinking points hindered the mobility of POE chains and suppressed the POE crystallization, resulting in smaller and fewer crystals. Dynamic mechanical analysis showed that the SiO2 and POE were compatible, as evidenced by the lower tan(δ) value in SiO2-filled samples. The latter was more consistent with the higher tensile strength and elongation at break for the non-crosslinked and static crosslinked composites than for the non-filled samples. However, the dynamic crosslinked composite exhibited the worst elongation at break, resulting from the lowest number of crystals and shortened molecular chains due to the shearing that occurred during crosslinking process. The SiO2 had no observable effect on the permanent deformation of samples.

Background We aimed to assess the association of atrial fibrillation (AF) on outcomes in a post hoc analysis of the ENCHANTED (Enhanced Control of Hypertension and Thrombolysis Stroke Study) and how this association is modified by baseline imaging features. Methods Inverse probability of treatment weight was used to remove baseline imbalances between those with and without AF. The primary outcome was the modified Rankin Scale (mRS) scores at 90 days. Secondary outcomes were symptomatic intracerebral haemorrhage (sICH), early neurological deterioration or death within 24 h, and death at 90 days. The logistic regression model was used to determine the associations. Results Of the 3285 patients included in this analysis, 636 (19%) had AF at baseline. Compared with non-AF, AF was not significantly associated with an unfavourable shift of mRS (odds ratio 1.09; 95% confidence interval, 0.96–1.24), but with sICH (2.82; 1.78-4.48; IST-3 criteria), early neurological deterioration or death within 24 h (1.31; 1.01-1.70), and death (1.42; 1.12-1.79). Among patients with acute ischaemic signs (presence, extent, swelling and attenuation of acute lesions), AF was associated with the increased risk of all the poor outcomes (all P Conclusions We found AF increased risk of sICH, early neurological deterioration or death and death, but not unfavourable functional recovery at day 90 after thrombolysis in patients with AIS. The presence of acute ischaemic brain imaging signs at stroke presentation could be used to improve risk stratification in the presence of AF. The present study adopts the priming word-judging paradigm to investigate whether the critical period will influence radical and lexical tone awareness during the bilinguals' Chinese character recognition. Two types of bilinguals (simultaneous and sequential bilinguals) will be recruited as participants in the present study. The different features between these two types of participants are used to test the influence of the critical period. Through a Chinese character decision task experiment, we hypothesis that the critical period will influence the semantic radical and lexical tone awareness while processing the Chinese characters of bilinguals. In addition, this study will provide some advice to learning Chinese characters in second language acquisition.

We propose a new test for structural changes in large dimensional factor models via a discrete Fourier transform (DFT) approach. If structural changes occur, the conventional principal component analysis fails to estimate common factors and factor loadings consistently. The estimated residuals will contain information about structural changes. Therefore, we can compare the DFT of the estimated residuals with the null (zero) spectrum implied by no structural change. The proposed test is powerful against both smooth structural changes and abrupt structural breaks with a possibly unknown number of breaks and unknown break dates in factor loadings. It can detect a class of local alternatives at the parametric rate. As a result, the test is asymptotically more efficient than the existing tests in the factor model literature. And our test is also robust to serial and cross-sectional dependence of unknown form without having to estimate any long-run variance-covariance matrix. Moreover, it is easy to implement and tuning parameter-free. Monte Carlo studies demonstrate its reasonable size and excellent power in detecting various forms of structural changes in factor loadings. In an application to the U.S. macroeconomic data, we find significant and robust evidence of time-varying factor loadings.

Introducing rotational degree of control into conventional optical tweezers promises unprecedented possibilities in physics, optical manipulation, and life science. However, previous rotational schemes have largely relied upon the intrinsic properties of microsphere anisotropy—such as birefringence or amorphous shape—which involves sophisticated fabrication processes and is limited in their application range. In this study, we demonstrated the first experimental realization of orbiting a homogeneous microsphere by exploiting angular momentum in a transversely rotating optical trap. The high level of rotational control allows us to explore orbital-translational coupling and realize an ultra-stable micro-gyroscope of considerable value. The dynamics of orbital levitated particle was theoretically characterized using a simple model. Our proposed method provided a novel way to qualitatively characterize optical trap features. In the future, the approach could pave the way for investigating rotational opto-mechanics, rotational ground state cooling, and the study of ultra-sensitive angular measurement.

In this study, titanate nanotubes (TNTs) were prepared through the hydrothermal method and then modified with γ-aminopropyltriethoxysilane (KH550) to obtain KTNTs with good dispersion properties. A KTNT–waterborne polyurethane (WPU) composite coating was prepared by blending KTNTs with WPU. Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy was used to characterize TNT compositions before and after modification. Thermogravimetric analysis and electrochemical impedance spectroscopy were used to test the thermal stability and corrosion resistance of the composite coating. The results showed that KH550 was successfully connected to the TNT surface. This improved the thermal stability and corrosion resistance of the KTNT–WPU coatings. The fastest thermal decomposition rate for the 0.5% KTNT composite coating was 2%/min lower than that of the pure WPU coating. At the same time, the impedance of the composite coating could reach 7.58 × 107 Ω cm2, the corrosion current density was 3.20 × 10−9 A/cm2 and the corrosion inhibition rate reached 99.87%. The composite coating had an effective corrosion protection time of 120 h, and the protective effect of the coating weakened when the immersion time exceeded 360 h.

Image denoising is a fundamental problem in computer vision and multimedia computation. Non-local filters are effective for image denoising. But existing deep learning methods that use non-local computation structures are mostly designed for high-level tasks, and global self-attention is usually adopted. For the task of image denoising, they have high computational complexity and have a lot of redundant computation of uncorrelated pixels. To solve this problem and combine the marvelous advantages of non-local filter and deep learning, we propose a Convolutional Unbiased Regional (CUR) transformer. Based on the prior that, for each pixel, its similar pixels are usually spatially close, our insights are that (1) we partition the image into non-overlapped windows and perform regional self-attention to reduce the search range of each pixel, and (2) we encourage pixels across different windows to communicate with each other. Based on our insights, the CUR transformer is cascaded by a series of convolutional regional self-attention (CRSA) blocks with U-style short connections. In each CRSA block, we use convolutional layers to extract the query, key, and value features, namely Q , K , and V , of the input feature. Then, we partition the Q , K , and V features into local non-overlapped windows and perform regional self-attention within each window to obtain the output feature of this CRSA block. Among different CRSA blocks, we perform the unbiased window partition by changing the partition positions of the windows. Experimental results show that the CUR transformer outperforms the state-of-the-art methods significantly on four low-level vision tasks, including real and synthetic image denoising, JPEG compression artifact reduction, and low-light image enhancement.

Gastric cancer is the sixth highest incidence rate in the world. Although treatment has made progress, the prospect of gastric cancer patients is bleak. Difficulties and future prospects of immunotherapy in cancer treatment. Adaptive cell therapy, cancer vaccines, gene therapy, and monoclonal antibody therapy have all been used in gastric cancer with some initial success. PTTGs (pituitary tumor-transforming genes) have been proven to be closely related to the prognosis of many malignant tumors. However, the prognosis and immune cell infiltration of gastric adenocarcinoma (STAD) remain unclear. We retrieved multiple databases to understand the possible activity of PTTGs and their expression in gastric cancer, as well as their relationship with clinical data, overall survival rate, first progression, and survival rate after progression. PTTGs are overexpressed in STAD tumor tissues. Many clinical variables are closely related to PTTGs. In addition, PTTG was associated with overall survival independent of disease. In addition, the expression of PTTG1/2 was positively correlated with the molecular status of the immune checkpoint and negatively correlated with the infiltration of various immune cells. Data research shows that PTTG and STAD are closely related. This paved the way for future research, revealed the complex pathophysiology of gastric cancer, and introduced an effective new treatment.

Objective: To explore the clinicopathological features of solitary fibrous tumors (SFTs) of the lung. Methods: We collected the clinical data of 52 patients with SFTs of the lung confirmed by pathology, and summarized the clinical, radiological, and morphological features, the immunophenotypes, and the prognosis of SFTs. Results: Fifty-two cases of SFTs of the lung were enrolled in this study, including 51 cases of borderline and 1 case of malignancy, 22 males and 30 females. The average onset age was 52.7 years. The lower lobe of the left lung was the preferred site of SFTs, accounting for 30.77% (16/52). Chest CT showed regular and well-demarcated soft tissue density mass, and the tumor size of most cases (46/52, 88.46%) was 1–10 cm. Morphological features: The distribution of tumor cells showed sparse and dense areas. Tumor cells were spindle-shaped, in whorls or hemangiopericytoma-like conformation. Atypia, mitotic figures, and necrosis were found. Immunohistochemistry showed positive expression of CD34, STAT6, Vimentin, BCL2, and CD99. Ki-67 was ≤ 5% in borderline SFTs and >20% in a malignant SFT. Conclusions: Solitary fibrous tumors of the lung occur more frequently in middle-aged and elderly people, and there is no significant difference in gender. The lower lobe of the left lung is the preferred site of SFTs. The size of most SFTs is 1–10 cm. Chest CT shows morphologically regular and well-demarcated soft tissue density mass. Pathologically, SFTs of the lung are mostly borderline and occasionally malignant. Immunohistochemistry shows the positive expression of CD34, STAT6, Vimentin, BCL2, and CD99.

Integration of non-noble transition metal oxides with graphene is known to construct high-activity electrocatalysts for oxygen evolution reduction (OER). In order to avoid the complexity of traditional synthesis process, a facile electrochemical method is elaborately designed to engineer efficient WO3- x/graphene (photo-)electrocatalyst for OER by a two-electrode electrolysis system, where graphite cathode is exfoliated into graphene and tungsten wire anode evolves into VO-rich WO3- x profiting from formed reductive electrolyte solution. Among as-prepared samples, WO3- x/G-2 shows the best electrocatalytic performance for OER with an overpotential of 320 mV (without iR compensation) at 10 mA/cm2, superior to commercial RuO2 (341 mV). With introduction of light illumination, the activity of WO3- x/G-2 is greatly enhanced and its overpotential decreases to 290 mV, benefiting from additional reaction path produced by photocurrent effect and extra active sites generated by photogenerated carriers (h+). Characterization results indicate that both VO-rich WO3- x and graphene contribute to the efficient OER performance. The activity of WO3- x for OER is decided by the synergistic effect between VO concentration and particle size. The graphene could not only disperse WO3- x nanoparticles, but also improve the holistic conductivity and promote electron transmission. This work supports a novel method for engineering WO3- x/graphene composite for highly efficient (photo-)electrocatalytic performance for OER.
