This study examined the prospective associations among the trajectories of maternal depressive symptoms, maternal sensitivity, and child executive function (EF) across early and middle childhood, and tested the mediating role of maternal sensitivity in the links between change in maternal depressive symptoms and the growth of child EF. Participants included 1,364 children and mothers from the National Institute of Child Health and Human Development (NICHD) Study of Early Child Care and Youth Development (NICHD SECCYD). We found that maternal depressive symptoms (from 6 months to Grade 5) and sensitivity (from 36 months to Grade 5) decreased, whereas child EF (planning skills; from Grade 1 to 5) increased over time. We also found several direct associations: (a) lower maternal depressive symptoms at 36 months predicted higher sensitivity at 54 months; (b) higher sensitivity at 54 months and a faster decrease in sensitivity from 36 months to Grade 5 predicted higher child EF in Grade 1; and (c) higher sensitivity at 54 months predicted greater growth of EF from Grade 1 to 5. In addition, two mediation effects were found as follows: Lower levels of maternal depressive symptoms at 36 months predicted both higher levels of child EF in Grade 1 and greater growth of EF from Grade 1 to 5 through higher levels of maternal sensitivity at 54 months. The results suggest that early maternal depressive symptoms may have long-term effects on the growth of EF, especially planning skills, during middle childhood, and that one important pathway that maternal depressive symptoms affect child EF outcomes through maternal sensitivity. Purpose. There have been many studies in the operative management of pyogenic spondylodiscitis with foreign materials. However, it still remains an issue of debate on whether the allografts may be used in pyogenic spondylodiscitis. This study sought to evaluate the safety and effectiveness of PEEK cages and the cadaveric allograft in transforaminal lumbar interbody fusion (TLIF) for treating lumbar pyogenic spondylodiscitis. Methods. From January 2012 to December 2019, 56 patients underwent surgery for lumbar pyogenic spondylodiscitis. The posterior debridement of all patients and their fusion with allografts, local bone grafts, and bone chip cages were performed before posterior pedicle screw fusion. An assessment of the residual pain, the grade of neurological injury, and the resolution of infection was conducted on 39 patients. The clinical outcome was evaluated using a visual analog scale (VAS) and the Oswestry Disability Index (ODI), and neurological outcomes were appraised based on Frankel grades. The radiological outcomes were evaluated via focal lordosis, lumbar lordosis, and the state of the fusion. Results. Staphylococcus aureus and Staphylococcus epidermidis were the most common causative organisms. The mean preoperative focal lordosis was −1.2° (−11.4° to 5.7°), and the mean postoperative focal lordosis increased to 10.3° (4.3°–17.2°). At the final follow-up, there were five cases with subsidence of the cage, no case of recurrence, and no case with cage and screw loosening or migration. The mean preoperative VAS and ODI scores were 8.9 and 74.6%, respectively, and improvements in VAS and ODI were 6.6 ± 2.2 and 50.4 ± 21.3 % , respectively. The Frankel grade D was found in 10 patients and grade C in 7. Following the final follow-up, only one patient improved from Frankel grade C to grade D while the others recovered completely. Conclusion. The PEEK cage and cadaveric allograft combined with local bone grafts is a safe and effective choice for intervertebral fusion and restoring sagittal alignment without increased incidence of relapse for treating lumbar pyogenic spondylodiscitis.

Falling film evaporation technology is widely used in the treatment of salt-containing wastewater in coal chemical industry. However, there is still a lack of research on the inlet method of vertical falling film evaporation tubes. In this paper, the heat and mass transfer processes of saline wastewater under vertical and tangential inlets were investigated using numerical simulations. On this basis, the differences in flow and heat transfer processes between saline wastewater and pure water under tangential inlet were investigated. The results showed that the flow velocity of saline wastewater with a falling film evaporation tube in a tangential inlet mode was larger. Meanwhile, the turbulence in this way was more intense and the fluid temperature in the vertical tube was higher. Saline wastewater has higher temperature and smaller liquid volume fraction than pure water liquid membrane in the range of 193–1,000 mm from the inlet. The use of tangential inlet method to treat salt-containing wastewater has higher evaporation efficiency and is a very effective way to guide the improvement of heat transfer efficiency.

BACKGROUND: The incidence rate for migraine is 12% worldwide, and recurrence is common, which seriously affects the physical and mental health of patients. OBJECTIVE: To observe the clinical effect of Shallow Puncture and More Twirling method of acupuncture in treating migraine and its impact on serum 5-HT and β-EP. METHODS: A total of 76 patients with migraine were randomized into a control group and acupuncture group with 38 cases in each. In the control group, patients were orally administered flunarizine hydrochloride before sleep, 2 capsules once daily for 4 weeks. In the acupuncture group, Shallow Puncture and More Twirling method was adopted for the acupoints of Sizhukong (SJ 23), Toulinqi (GB 15) Shuaigu (GB 8), Xuanlu (GB 5), Fengchi (GB 20), Waiguan (SJ 5), Zulinqi (GB 41). Patients were given acupuncture 3 times per week for 4 weeks. Then, the total VAS (Visual Analogue Scale) scores, composite score of migraine, serum level of 5-HT and β-EP, and the clinical efficacy differences were observed before and after treatment and the side-effects were recorded among the two groups. RESULTS: The total VAS scores and composite score of migraine were significantly reduced among both groups after the treatment (P< 0.05), and the serum level of 5-HT and β-EP was significantly improved (P< 0.05). Compared with control group, the acupuncture group reported lower results in VAS score and migraine composite score (P< 0.05), and higher results in serum 5-HT and β-EP level (P< 0.05). The acupuncture group with shallow puncture and more twirling method showed a total effective rate of 86.5%, which is higher than the control group (78.4%). The difference is statistically significant (P< 0.05). CONCLUSION: Shallow Puncture and More Twirling method was superior to flunarizine hydrochloride in the treatment of clinical symptoms of migraine. Acupuncture also increases the serum level of 5-HT and β-EP in migraine.

In recent years, edible composite films have attracted more attention instead of plastic packaging in the field of food packaging. Combined with clove essential oil (CO), the edible composite film based on sodium alginate (SA) and Aloe vera gel (AG) was developed. The aim of this study was to explore the effect of SA, AG, and CO on the barrier and mechanical properties of the composite films and the impact of the edible composite film on the freshness of blueberry fruits. Response surface methodology (RSM) based on single factor experiments were used to get the optimum formula with the best property. The results showed that the optimal formula was SA 15.6 gL-1, AG 90 gL-1, and CO 10 gL-1, SA, AG, and CO had significant effect on the characteristics of the films, also, the crossed-linking action of SA and AG was further confirmed by characterization, while CO significantly influenced barrier and mechanical property and improved the antibacterial activity of the film. The composite film kept great hardness, less weight loss, more soluble solid, and more vitamin C of blueberries, proving the bacteriostatic activity of AG and CO. The results suggest that the edible composite film has an enormous potential in extending the shelf-life of blueberries with this formula.

Purpose In the era of mobile internet, the social Q&A community has built a large-scale and complex knowledge label network through its internal knowledge units, and the scale and structure of the network have changed over time. By analysing the structural characteristics and evolution rules of knowledge label networks, the main purpose of this study is to understand the internal mechanisms of the replacement of old and new knowledge and the expansion of knowledge element boundaries, so as to explore the realization path of knowledge management in the new era from the perspective of complex networks. Design/methodology/approach This paper uses distributed crawlers to capture 419,349 samples from the Zhihu platform. Each sample contains 33 characteristic dimensions, and the natural year is used as the sliding window to divide the whole. In this study, the global knowledge label network and 11 local knowledge label networks are first constructed. Then, the degree distribution analysis and central node exploration of the knowledge label network are carried out using the complex network method. Finally, the average shortest path and average clustering coefficient of the network are analysed by the time series method, and the ARIMA model is used to predict the evolution of the correlation coefficient. Findings The research results show that the dissimilation degree of the degree distribution of the knowledge label network has gradually decreased from 2011 to 2021, and the attention of users in the knowledge community has shown a trend of distraction and diversification over time. With the expansion of the scale of the knowledge label network and the transformation to an information network, the network sparsity is becoming more and more obvious, and the knowledge granularity of the Q&A community is being refined and diversified. The prediction of the correlation coefficient of the knowledge label network by the ARIMA model shows that the connection between the labels is lacking diversity and the opinion strengthening phenomenon tends to strengthen, which is more likely to form the “echo chamber effect”, resulting in mutual isolation and even opposition between different circles. The Q&A community is about to enter a mature stage, and the corresponding status of each label has been finalized. The future development trend of label networks will be reflected in the substitution between labels, and the specific structure will not change significantly. Originality/value The Q&A community model is the trend in Web 2.0 community development. This study proves the effectiveness of complex networks and time series prediction methods in knowledge label network mining in the Q&A community.

To comprehensively assess osteoporosis in the lumbar spine, a compositional MR imaging technique is proposed to quantify proton fractions for all the water components as well as fat in lumbar vertebrae measured by a combination of a 3D short repetition time adiabatic inversion recovery prepared ultrashort echo time (STAIR-UTE) MRI and IDEAL-IQ.A total of 182 participants underwent MRI, quantitative CT, and DXA. Lumbar collagen-bound water proton fraction (CBWPF), free water proton fraction (FWPF), total water proton fraction (TWPF), bone mineral density (BMD), and T-score were calculated in three vertebrae (L2-L4) for each subject. The correlations of the CBWPF, FWPF, and TWPF with BMD and T-score were investigated respectively. A comprehensive diagnostic model combining all the water components and clinical characteristics was established. The performances of all the water components and the comprehensive diagnostic model to discriminate between normal, osteopenia, and osteoporosis cohorts were also evaluated using receiver operator characteristic (ROC).The CBWPF showed strong correlations with BMD (r = 0.85, p0.001) and T-score (r = 0.72, p0.001), while the FWPF and TWPF showed moderate correlations with BMD (r = 0.65 and 0.68, p0.001) and T-score (r = 0.47 and 0.49, p0.001). The high area under the curve values obtained from ROC analysis demonstrated that CBWPF, FWPF, and TWPF have the potential to differentiate the normal, osteopenia, and osteoporosis cohorts. At the same time, the comprehensive diagnostic model shows the best performance.The compositional MRI technique, which quantifies CBWPF, FWPF, and TWPF in trabecular bone, is promising in the assessment of bone quality.• Compositional MR imaging technique is able to quantify proton fractions for all the water components (i.e., collagen-bound water proton fraction (CBWPF), free water proton fraction (FWPF), and total water proton fraction (TWPF)) in the human lumbar spine. • The biomarkers derived from the compositional MR imaging technique showed moderate to high correlations with bone mineral density (BMD) and T-score and showed good performance in distinguishing people with different bone mass. • The comprehensive diagnostic model incorporating CBWPF, FWPF, TWPF, and clinical characteristics showed the highest clinical diagnostic capability for the assessment of osteoporosis.

The emergence of new online media has promoted the communication of public cultural information, and systematic evaluation of its communication effectiveness has become an increasingly important research topic. This article aims to enrich and improve the evaluation index system for the effect of public cultural network communication and provide suggestions for improving the effect of public cultural network communication and constructing a good communication ecology. Based on factors such as propagation force, guiding force, and influence, this article crawled 78,140 pieces multi-source heterogeneous of nine Altmetrics index data from Sina Weibo, Baidu, Sogou, Bilibili, and other platforms, constructs the evaluation index system of public culture network communication effect under the background of new media, and quantifies and analyzes the network communication effect of red public culture in Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei. On this basis, the time-series evolution of communication effect is modeled and analyzed, and the law of communication is found systematically. The study finds that the communicating effect of red public culture varies significantly and has a large room for improvement overall; the communicating effect improves steadily with seasonal changes, and the communicating effect in summer and autumn is better than the other two seasons; the Autoregressive Integrated Moving Average (1,1,1) model can better present the dynamic changes of cultural communication system after the first-order difference of the time-series data. This article innovatively embeds the Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei red culture in the public cultural construction system and research system, and a comprehensive communication effect evaluation index system is constructed to measure the effect of public culture network communication under the background of new media and analyze its dynamic evolution.

Magnetic particle imaging (MPI) is a radiation-free vessel- and target-imaging modality that can sensitively detect nanoparticles. A static magnetic gradient field, referred to as a selection field, is required in MPI to provide a field-free region (FFR) for spatial encoding. The image resolution of MPI is closely related to the size of the FFR, which is determined by the selection field gradient amplitude. Because of the limitations of existing gradient coil hardware, the image resolution of MPI cannot satisfy the clinical requirements of human in vivo imaging. Pulsed excitation has been confirmed to improve the image resolution of MPI by breaking down the 'relaxation wall.' This work proposes the use of a pulsed waveform magnetic gradient from magnetic resonance imaging to further improve the image resolution of MPI. Through alignment of the gradient direction along the field-free line (FFL), each location on the FFL is able to have a unique excitation field strength that generates a specific relaxation-induced decay signal. Through excitation of nanoparticles on the FFL with many gradient profiles, a high-resolution, one-dimensional (1D) image can be reconstructed on the FFL. For larger magnetic nanoparticles, simulation results revealed that a pulsed excitation field with a greater flat portion generates a 1D bar pattern phantom image with a higher correlation and spatial resolution. With parallel FFL and gradient coil movements, high-resolution, two-dimensional (2D) Shepp-Logan phantom and brain vessel maps were reconstructed through repetition of the spatially resolved measurement of magnetic nanoparticles on the FFL.

The mechanism of high-fat diet (HFD)-induced decrease in erectile function has not been elucidated, and in previous studies, spectrin alpha, erythrocytic 1 (SPTA1) is a cytoskeletal protein that regulates cellular function, which belongs to a family of proteins that can affect cell and tissue growth and development by regulating YAP, an effector on the Hippo signaling pathway, but its particular role has not been elucidated.To explore the role of SPTA1 in the abnormality of erectile function induced by HFD.We analyzed the penile tissues of mice on normal diet and HFD by transcriptomics and screened for differentially expressed genes, further identified closely related target genes in rat penile tissues, and verified target gene expression in in vitro construction of high-glucose (HG)-treated corpus cavernosum endothelial cells (CCECs) and corpus cavernosum smooth muscle cells (CCSMCs) models. The distribution of target genes in various cell populations in penile tissues was retrieved by single-cell sequencing Male Health Atlas database. Moreover, interfering with target genes was further applied to explore the mechanisms involved in erectile function decline.Transcriptomic analysis screened out down-regulated differential gene SPTA1; Western blot and immunohistochemistry results showed that SPTA1 expression significantly decreased in the penile tissues of Sprague-Dawley (SD) rats in the HFD group. Immunofluorescence staining showed a positive expression of CD31 and VWF in CCECs and a positive expression of α-SMA in CCSMCs. The expression level of SPTA1 protein significantly decreased in the HG group of CCECs and CCSMCs. The expression of SPTA1 mRNA significantly decreased in CCSMCs while significantly increased in CCECs. SPTA1 may have various expression patterns and biological functions in different cell populations. Real-time quantitative PCR results showed that the siSPTA1 transfected in CCSMCs had a significant interference effect compared with the control siNC. Transfection of siSPTA1 into CCSMCs resulted in the significant down-regulation of mRNA and protein expression of eNOS, and significant up-regulation of YAP, Caspase-1, GSDMD, GSDMD-N IL-18, and IL-1β protein expression levels. The expression level of CCSMCs contractile-type protein α-SMA was significantly down-regulated.The down-regulation of SPTA1 in SD rats fed with HFD may induce cell pyroptosis and lead to the decrease of erectile function by activating the Hippo pathway; these findings may provide new therapeutic targets for improving erectile function.

MOF-based materials are a class of efficient precursors for the preparation of heteroatom-doped porous carbon materials that have been widely applied as anode materials for Na-ion batteries. Thereinto, sulfur is often introduced to increase defects and act as an active species to directly react with sodium ions. Although the sulfur introduction and high surface area can synergistically improve capacity and rate capability, the initial Coulombic efficiency (ICE) and electrical conductivity of carbon material are inevitably reduced. Therefore, balancing sodium storage capacity and ICE is still the bottleneck faced by adsorbent carbon materials. Here, sulfur-encapsulated microporous carbon material with nitrogen, sulfur dual-doping (NSPC) is synthesized by postprocessing, achieving the reduced specific surface area by encapsulating sulfur in micropores, and the increased active sites by edge sulfur doping. The synergy between encapsulation and sulfur doping effectively balances specific capacity, rate capability, and ICE. The NSPC material exhibits capacities of 591.5 and 244.2 mAh g

Most existing methods for image inpainting focus on learning the intra-image priors from the known regions of the current input image to infer the content of the corrupted regions in the same image. While such methods perform well on images with small corrupted regions, it is challenging for these methods to deal with images with large corrupted area due to two potential limitations: 1) such methods tend to overfit each single training pair of images relying solely on the intra-image prior knowledge learned from the limited known area; 2) the inter-image prior knowledge about the general distribution patterns of visual semantics, which can be transferred across images sharing similar semantics, is not exploited. In this paper, we propose the Generative Memory-Guided Semantic Reasoning Model (GM-SRM), which not only learns the intra-image priors from the known regions, but also distills the inter-image reasoning priors to infer the content of the corrupted regions. In particular, the proposed GM-SRM first pre-learns a generative memory from the whole training data to capture the semantic distribution patterns in a global view. Then the learned memory are leveraged to retrieve the matching inter-image priors for the current corrupted image to perform semantic reasoning during image inpainting. While the intra-image priors are used for guaranteeing the pixel-level content consistency, the inter-image priors are favorable for performing high-level semantic reasoning, which is particularly effective for inferring semantic content for large corrupted area. Extensive experiments on Paris Street View, CelebA-HQ, and Places2 benchmarks demonstrate that our GM-SRM outperforms the state-of-the-art methods for image inpainting in terms of both the visual quality and quantitative metrics., Comment: 13 pages, 10 figures

Background. Hepatic encephalopathy (HE) is a neurological and psychiatric syndrome. Recent evidence suggests that HE is not only a disease of the liver and brain but is also related to the gut. Small intestinal bacterial overgrowth (SIBO) is well known to be associated with cirrhosis, but the relationship between SIBO and HE is unclear. We conducted this comprehensive systematic review and meta-analysis to determine the association between SIBO and HE in cirrhotic patients. Methods. We conducted a comprehensive literature search of all studies on the association of SIBO and HE in cirrhotic patients using the PubMed and Embase electronic databases. Studies were screened, and relevant data were extracted and analysed. We calculated the number of cases of SIBO in patients with HE and controls. We then compared the prevalence of SIBO between the two groups to calculate the odds ratios (ORs) and 95% confidence intervals (CIs). Funnel plots were constructed to identify potential publication bias. Results. Six studies with 414 participants (219 HE patients and 195 controls) met the inclusion criteria. The prevalence of SIBO in cirrhotic patients with HE was significantly higher than that in those without HE. The combined OR was 4.43 (95% CI 1.73-11.32, P = 0.002 ). The heterogeneity was moderate ( I 2 = 66 %), and the funnel plot suggested no significant publication bias. Subgroup analysis showed that the OR was 1.95 (95% CI 0.63–6.09) in studies using the lactulose breath test (LBT) and 7.60 (95% CI 3.50–16.50) in studies using the glucose breath test (GBT). The prevalence of SIBO in cirrhotic patients was also related to the severity of liver disease. Conclusions. Our meta-analysis identified a strong association between SIBO and HE, and the risk of SIBO was 4.43 times higher among cirrhotic patients with HE than among those without HE. SIBO could be a predisposing factor for the development of HE in cirrhotic patients. Therefore, the importance of SIBO should be emphasized in patients with HE.

Background. Obese type 2 diabetes mellitus (obese T2DM) is one of the prime diseases that endangers human health. Clinical studies have confirmed the ability of the Huanglian Huazhuo capsule to treat obese T2DM; however, its mechanism of action is still unclear. In this study, effects and mechanisms of the Huanglian Huazhuo capsule in obese T2DM were systematically investigated using network pharmacology and molecular docking techniques. Methods. The active ingredients and targets of the Huanglian Huazhuo capsule were extracted from Traditional Chinese Medicine Systems Pharmacology Database and Analysis Platform (TCMSP). Obese T2DM diabetes-related targets were retrieved from a geographic dataset combined with a gene card database. A protein-protein interaction (PPI) network was constructed to screen core targets. The Gene Ontology (GO) and Kyoto Encyclopedia of Genes and Genomes (KEGG) pathway enrichment analyses were conducted using Database for Annotation Visualization and Integrated Discovery (DAVID). Interactions between potential targets and active compounds were assessed using molecular docking. Molecular docking was performed on the best core protein complexes obtained using molecular docking. Results. A total of 89 and 108 active ingredients and targets, respectively, were identified. Seven core targets were obtained using a topological analysis of the PPI network. The GO and KEGG pathway enrichment analyses showed that the effects of the Huanglian Huazhuo capsules were mediated by inflammation, lipid response, oxidative stress-related genes, and HIF-1 and IL-17 signaling pathways. Good binding ability was observed between the active compounds and screened targets using molecular docking. Conclusions. The active ingredients, potential targets, and pathways of the Huanglian Huazhuo capsule for the treatment of obese T2DM were successfully predicted, providing a new strategy for further investigation of its molecular mechanisms. In addition, the potential active ingredients provide a reliable source for drug screening in obese T2DM.
