To collect permeability data and establish its database of fertilizer nutrients and water vapor through different polymer membranes for the development of polymer-coated fertilizer, the permeabilities of N-, P-, and K-nutrient from saturated aqueous of urea, NaH2PO4 and KCl solution and the permeability of water vapor through the membranes of poly lactic acid (PLA), its blends with polystyrene (PS), and its composites with humic acid (HA) particles were determined experimentally at the temperatures of 288, 298, and 308 K, respectively. The effects of the addition of PS and HA particles, temperature, and coating thickness on the permeability of fertilizer nutrient and water vapor were investigated. It was found that the addition of PS and HA increased the permeability for both the fertilizer nutrients and water vapor. The increase in temperature raised the permeability of N-, P-, and K-nutrient while decrease the permeability of water vapor in the range studied.

Silybin, the main component of silymarin, has been widely used as a hepatoprotective agent for a variety of acute and chronic liver diseases. However, its poor aqueous solubility lead to poor oral absorption and low bioavailability, which strongly limit its applications. The amorphous calcium phosphate (ACP) nanosphere and hydroxyapatite (HAP) nanorod have been prepared and used for the investigation of the silybin loading and release. The results indicate that both ACP nanosphere and HAP nanorod have relatively high silybin-loading capacities which reach to 900 and 825 mg g −1 . Moreover, the as-prepared silybin delivery systems exhibit sustained drug release performance in simulated gastric fluid and simulated intestinal fluid.

Zinc is an essential trace element for human growth and development. In this work, zinc-chelating peptides from rapeseed protein hydrolysates produced with alcalase were investigated by affinity chromatography with immobilized zinc and Sephadex G-25 gel filtration. Four small peptides, namely, Ala-Arg, Asn-Ser-Met (NSM), Gly-Lys-Arg, and Glu-Pro-Ser-His, were obtained and identified by reversed-phase high-performance liquid chromatography and electrospray ionization mass spectrometry. The zinc-chelating ability of the four peptides was further validated by inductively coupled plasma atomic emission spectrometry (ICP-AES). NSM was found to exhibit the highest zinc-chelating rate, which was better than that of reduced glutathione. We speculated that the Asn residue at the amino-terminus might facilitate this zinc-chelating ability. Therefore, utilizing small peptides from rapeseed protein as novel carriers for zinc supplement was feasible.

A method to forecast the stability of open pit slope by using the Bayes discriminant analysis theory is presented in this paper. The Bayes discriminant analysis theory was introduced firstly. Then considering the mining circumstances and geological conditions of open pit slope, six factors reflecting the stability of open pit slope, including the magnitude of unit weight, angle of internal friction, cohesion, slope angle, slope hight and pore pressure ratio, were selected to establish a BDA model. 33 samples of open pit slope were used as the training and forecasting samples. The prior probability of each collectivity was obtained according to the ratio of training samples and re-substitution method was also introduced to verify the stability of model. Compared with the support vector machine (SVM) method, the results show that this Bayes discriminant analysis model has excellent performance, high prediction accuracy and can be used in practical engineering.

For a large-scale, complicated and continuous industrial process, such as a rotary cement kiln, it is usually effective to combine automatic control and production guidance. Furthermore, modern techniques of multimedia and expert systems fully optimize human efforts under the guidance of the expert system. A real-time expert production guidance system using multimedia in the cement industry is described in this paper. The fuzzy data processing, knowledge base, database, self-learning mechanism, and sets of operation rules in the system are discussed. The system has been in successful operation in a cement company in China.
