Developing highly efficient heterogeneous catalysts for organic synthesis is of great importance in modern synthetic chemistry. In this work, Co (or Ni)-containing mesoporous zeolite ETS-10 (Co-METS-10 and Ni-METS-10) with both metal and strong basic sites were synthesized and applied for the direct oxidative coupling of alkenes with benzaldehydes to synthesize α,β-epoxy ketones. Co (or Ni)-METS-10 catalysts show high activity and product selectivity, as compared to metal-free mesoporous zeolite ETS-10 (METS-10). This feature is attributed to the fact that the highly dispersed Co (or Ni) species could facilitate the tert-butyl hydroperoxide transformation into more alkyloxy and alkylperoxy radicals, which triggers the alkenes undergoing radical addition with aldehyde and alkylperoxy to form β-peroxy ketones. Meanwhile, the basic sites on Co (or Ni)-METS-10 catalysts benefit the formation of α,β-epoxy ketone from β-peroxy ketone.

Recovering 3D human body shape and pose from 2D images is a challenging task due to high complexity and flexibility of human body, and relatively less 3D labeled data. Previous methods addressing these issues typically rely on predicting intermediate results such as body part segmentation, 2D/3D joints, silhouette mask to decompose the problem into multiple sub-tasks in order to utilize more 2D labels. Most previous works incorporated parametric body shape model in their methods and predict parameters in low-dimensional space to represent human body. In this paper, we propose to directly regress the 3D human mesh from a single color image using Convolutional Neural Network(CNN). We use an efficient representation of 3D human shape and pose which can be predicted through an encoder-decoder neural network. The proposed method achieves state-of-the-art performance on several 3D human body datasets including Human3.6M, SURREAL and UP-3D with even faster running speed., Comment: 10 pages, 6 figures

The asymptotic behaviour of solutions of three-dimensional nonlinear elastodynamics in a thin shell is considered, as the thickness $h$ of the shell tends to zero. Given the appropriate scalings of the applied force and of the initial data in terms of $h,$ it's verified that three-dimensional solutions of the nonlinear elastodynamic equations converge to solutions of the time-dependent von K��rm��n equations or dynamic linear equations for shell of arbitrary geometry.

Development of highly active heterogeneous catalysts is an effective strategy for modern organic synthesis chemistry. In this work, acidic mesoporous zeolite ZSM-5 (HZSM-5-M), acidic-free mesoporous zeolite TS-1 (TS-1-M), and basic ETS-10 zeolite supported metal Cu catalysts were prepared to investigate their catalytic performances in the hydroxysulfurization of styrenes with diaryl disulfides. The effect of pore size and acidities of the supports, as well as the Cu species electronic properties of the catalysts on reaction activity were investigated. The results show that Cu+ and Cu2+ binded on HZSM-5-M show the highest activity and product selectivity for the desired β-hydroxysulfides compounds.

This work is aimed at designing an optical nano-antenna structure to enhance the optical absorption in 1.0−1.7 μm and improve the performance of InP-based InGaAs sensors. We report comprehensive analysis of an optical nano-antenna structure of metallic ball array for surface plasmon enhancement of near-infrared photodetection. The enhancement capability of metallic ball array on InP substrate with periodicity in the range of 600−1200 nm and diameters in the range 100−300nm has been studied by theoretical modeling with a finite-difference time-domain(FDTD) method. Our simulation results show that the highest transmission efficiency is achieved when the diameter of the ball is around and the optimized periodicity of the ball array is around 800nm. After comparing the transmission spectra of the arrays made of different metals, silver is found to be the best. Because of the speciality of SPP modes, the enhancement relative to wavelengths near 1.1μm is obviously weaker than that near longer wavelengths. Coating a SiO2 film about 500nm over the arrays is found to be an effective solution to achieve higher transmission efficiency around 1.1μm.

Soft robots always have adequate active flexibility, adaptability and redundancy degree of freedom, which could arbitrarily change the shape and size to adapt environment. The paper proposed a novel long-arm biomimetic robot with multi-cavity and multi-segment coupled structure. The long-arm biomimetic robot's bending equation and static model were built based on moment equilibrium at the end of each segment. The approximate numerical solution was acquired for each moment of the basal and tail segment. Prototype of the long-arm biomimetic robot was designed and fabricated for experiment. On the developed experimental testbed, bending experiment was executed. The experimental result verified the established bending model with similar data curve.
