Nelarabine is a purine nucleoside analogue prodrug approved for the treatment of relapsed and refractory T-cell acute lymphoblastic leukemia (R/R T-ALL) and lymphoblastic lymphoma (T-LBL). Although effective in R/R T-ALL, significant neurotoxicity is dose-limiting and such neurotoxicity associated with nucleoside analogues can be related to dosing schedule.The authors conducted a phase 1 study to evaluate the pharmacokinetics and toxicity of nelarabine administered as a continuous infusion (CI) for 5 days (120 hours), rather than the standard, short-infusion approach.Twenty-nine patients with R/R T-ALL/LBL or T-cell prolymphocytic leukemia (T-PLL) were treated, with escalating doses of nelarabine from 100 to 800 mg/mPreliminary evaluation of continuous infusion schedule of nelarabine suggests that the safety profile is acceptable for this patient population, with clinical activity observed even at low doses and could broaden the use of nelarabine both as single agent and in combinations by potentially mitigating the risk of central nervous system toxicities.

To establish the factor structure of the Emotion Regulation Questionnaire for Children and Adolescents (ERQ-CA) in Chinese and American adolescent samples; to assess measurement invariance of the ERQ-CA in Chinese and American adolescent samples and latent means across early adolescents from two diverse cultural settings. The ERQ-CA was administered to 1221 Chinese adolescents (49.3% males) and 1148 American adolescents (50.1% males), and multi-group confirmatory factor analysis was performed to evaluate measurement invariance.(1) Multi-group confirmatory factor analysis of the ERQ-CA demonstrated full configural invariance, full metric invariance, partial scalar invariance, and partial strict invariance. (2) The latent variable mean comparisons revealed significant differences between the two samples; specifically, Chinese adolescents’ mean scores on the latent variables of cognitive reappraisal (CR) and expressive suppression (ES) were significantly higher than American adolescents’ scores. The findings demonstrated that the ERQ-CA displays appropriate measurement invariance across Chinese and America adolescents and that Chinese adolescents reported higher scores on CR and ES.

Esophageal squamous cell carcinoma (ESCC) is one of the most fatal malignancies worldwide. Recently, our group identified purine-rich element binding protein alpha (PURα), a single-stranded DNA/RNA-binding protein, to be significantly associated with the progression of ESCC. Additional immunofluorescence staining demonstrated that PURα forms cytoplasmic stress granules to suppress mRNA translation initiation. The expression level of cytoplasmic PURα in ESCC tumor tissues was significantly higher than that in adjacent epithelia and correlated with a worse patient survival rate by immunohistochemistry. Functionally, PURα strongly preferred to bind to UG-/U-rich motifs and mRNA 3´UTR by CLIP-seq analysis. Moreover, PURα knockout significantly increased the protein level of insulin-like growth factor binding protein 3 (IGFBP3). In addition, it was further demonstrated that PURα-interacting proteins are remarkably associated with translation initiation factors and ribosome-related proteins and that PURα regulates protein expression by interacting with translation initiation factors, such as PABPC1, eIF3B and eIF3F, in an RNA-independent manner, while the interaction with ribosome-related proteins is significantly dependent on RNA. Specifically, PURα was shown to interact with the mRNA 3´UTR of IGFBP3 and inhibit its expression by suppressing mRNA translation initiation. Together, this study identifies cytoplasmic PURα as a modulator of IGFBP3, which could be a promising therapeutic target for ESCC treatment.

The purpose of the present study was to identify the patterns of Internet addiction in early adolescents and their associated protective factors in order to prevent and/or ameliorate internet addiction as early as possible. A 2-year longitudinal study was conducted among 621 Chinese early adolescents. Latent class and latent transition analyses were used to identify classes of the development of internet addiction. Three latent classes were identified, including a “Non-Internet Addiction Group” (43%), “Low Internet Addiction Group” (43%) and “High Internet Addiction Group” (14%). A Latent Transition Analysis of Adolescents in the Non-Internet Addiction Group and Low Internet Addiction Group demonstrated relative stability in class membership, whereas adolescents in the High Internet Addiction Group tended to change to the Low Internet Addiction Group. Results of multinomial logistic regression and latent transition analyses revealed that low impulsivity, high family care, and high student engagement in school all contributed to membership in the latent classes of internet use and transitions. Implications of these results for prevention and intervention and for future research are discussed.

Data interaction scenarios involving multiple parties in network communities have problems of trust, data security, and reliability of the parties, and secure multiparty computation(SMPC) can effectively solve these problems. To address the security and fairness issues of SMPC, this study considers that semi-honest participants can lead to deviations in the security and fairness of the protocol, and combines information entropy and mutual information to present an n-round information exchange protocol in which each participant broadcasts a relevant information value in each round without revealing other information. The uncertainty of the correct outcome value is blurred by the interaction information in each round, and each participant is not sure of the correct outcome value until the end of the protocol, which effectively prevents malicious behavior and ensures the correct execution of the protocol. Security and fairness analysis shows that our protocol guarantees the security and relative fairness of the output obtained by the participants after completing the protocol.

The HIV-1 fusion peptide has been identified as a site for elicitation of broadly neutralizing antibodies, with prior studies demonstrating that priming with fusion peptide-based immunogens and boosting with soluble envelope (Env) trimers can elicit cross-clade HIV-1-neutralizing responses. To improve the neutralizing breadth and potency of fusion peptide-directed responses, we evaluated vaccine regimens that incorporated diverse fusion peptide-conjugates and Env trimers with variation in fusion peptide length and sequence.

ObjectiveTo evaluate safety and efficacy of dietary polyphenols in the treatment of rheumatoid arthritis (RA).MethodsCNKI, Pubmed, Cochrane library, Embase were searched to collect randomized controlled trials (RCTs) of dietary polyphenols in the treatment of RA. The databases were searched from the time of their establishment to November 8nd, 2022. After 2 reviewers independently screened the literature, extracted data, and assessed the risk of bias of the included studies, Meta-analysis was performed using RevMan5.4 software.ResultsA total of 49 records (47 RCTs) were finally included, involving 3852 participants and 15 types of dietary polyphenols (Cinnamon extract, Cranberry extract, Crocus sativus L. extract, Curcumin, Garlic extract, Ginger extract, Hesperidin, Olive oil, Pomegranate extract, Puerarin, Quercetin, Resveratrol, Sesamin, Tea polyphenols, Total glucosides of paeony). Pomegranate extract, Resveratrol, Garlic extract, Puerarin, Hesperidin, Ginger extract, Cinnamon extract, Sesamin only involve in 1 RCT. Cranberry extract, Crocus sativus L. extract, Olive oil, Quercetin, Tea polyphenols involve in 2 RCTs. Total glucosides of paeony and Curcumin involve in more than 3 RCTs. These RCTs showed that these dietary polyphenols could improve disease activity score for 28 joints (DAS28), inflammation levels or oxidative stress levels in RA. The addition of dietary polyphenols did not increase adverse events.ConclusionDietary polyphenols may improve DAS28, reduce C-reactive protein (CRP) and erythrocyte sedimentation rate (ESR), and improve oxidative stress, etc. However, more RCTs are needed to verify or modify the efficacy and safety of dietary polyphenols.Systematic review registrationhttps://www.crd.york.ac.uk/prospero/, identifier CRD42022315645.

Stroke is the most common cause of human death and functional disability, resulting in more than 5 million deaths worldwide each year. Bone marrow mesenchymal stem cells (BMSCs) are a kind of stem cell that are able to self-renew and differentiate into many types of tissues. Therefore, BMSCs have the potential to replace damaged neurons and promote the reconstruction of nerve conduction pathways and connective tissue. However, it remains unknown whether transplanted BMSCs promote angiogenesis or improve the tissue microenvironment directly or indirectly through paracrine interactions. This study aimed to determine the therapeutic effect of BMSCs on ischemic stroke with hypertension in a rodent model and to explore the possible mechanisms underlying any benefits.Middle cerebral artery occlusion was used to establish the experimental stroke model. The area of cerebral infarction, expression of vascular endothelial growth factor (VEGF) and glial cell line-derived neurotrophic factor (GDNF), and increment of astrocyte were measured by TTC staining, western blot, real-time quantitative polymerase chain reaction (RT-qPCR) and immunocytochemistry. The results showed a smaller area of cerebral infarction and improved neurological function scores in animals treated with BMSCs compared to controls. The results of RT-qPCR and western blot assays showed higher expression of VEGF and GDNF in BMSC-treated animals compared with controls. Our study also showed that one round of BMSCs transplantation significantly promoted the proliferation of subventricular zone and cortical cells, especially astrocytes, on the ischemic side following cerebral ischemia.Above findings support that BMSCs have therapeutic effects for ischemic stroke complicated with hypertension, which may occur via up-regulated expression of VEGF and GDNF and reduction of neuronal apoptosis, thereby promoting the recovery of nerve function.

Intrusion detection is a critical component of network security. However, intrusion detection cannot play a very good role in the face of APT and 0 day. It needs to combine intrusion prevention, deception defense, and other technologies to ensure network security. Intrusion prediction is an important part of intrusion prevention and deception defense. Only by predicting the next possible attack can we prevent the corresponding intrusion or cheat adversary more efficiently. However, the current research on intrusion prediction has not received much attention. Most of the existing intrusion prediction research focuses on the prediction of security situation, specific security events, system calls, etc., having limitation in applicability and sequence dependency. In order to supplement this part of research, this paper reports the prediction of network penetration intrusion sequence for the first time. By introducing the ATT&CK framework, this paper builds a dictionary for the penetration intrusion types and builds three different seq2seq models. The experiment runs on the public and generated sequence data based on real APT events and adversary groups resulting that the model can predict future penetration intrusion sequence with an accuracy of up to 0.90.

With the increase of the housing population, it is very important for renters to find credible housing information through rental platforms. However, due to the imperfection of relevant laws and insufficient supervision of the housing rental market, problems have emerged one after another. In this article, we propose a housing rental scheme based on redactable blockchain, introducing a trusted third party to verify the homeowner rental listings, and fundamentally preventing false listings from flowing into the housing rental market. Specifically, a trusted third party similar to the housing authority will issue a verifiable claim for the homeowners listing, and then the accounting node of the consortium blockchain will publish the verified listing information on the blockchain so as tenants to make inquiries according to their needs. At the same time, we use the new chameleon hash to build a redactable blockchain. After the homeowner proposes to change the housing price or housing information, the content of the historical block is modified as required. Thus, to a certain extent, the changes in housing prices can be monitored to curb chaos in the housing rental market.

Background: The optimal body mass index (BMI) for cardiovascular disease (CVD) prevention in older adults remains uncertain. We aimed to evaluate the relationship between BMI and CVD mortality and identify the nadirs for CVD mortality in older (≥65 years) and younger ( Methods: We used data from the 1997 to 2018 National Health Interview Survey, linked to the National Death Index (NDI). We included adults aged 18 years and older with BMI and NDI follow-up data available. We used Cox regression to estimate hazard ratios (HRs) and 95% confidence intervals (CI) for the association between BMI and CVD mortality. Fully adjusted models were stratified by age and controlled for baseline age, sex, race, income, education, marital status, diabetes, cancer, general health, physical activity, smoking, and alcohol status. Results: Among 490,037 adults, the mean(±SD) age was 47(18) years; 55% were female. During a median follow-up period of 11 years, 19,194 CVD deaths occurred. The associations between BMI and CVD mortality were J-shaped in adults aged ≥ 65 years and < 65 years. The CVD mortality was minimized at a BMI of 26 kg/m 2 in adults aged ≥ 65 years and 22 kg/m 2 in those aged < 65 years. In adults aged ≥ 65 years, being overweight was associated with a lower risk of CVD mortality (HR 0.93, [95% CI, 0.89-0.96]); having level I obesity (0.90 [0.94-1.05]) and level II obesity (1.06 [0.97-1.16]) did not increase the risk of CVD mortality; and level III obesity was associated with increased risk of CVD mortality in comparison with individuals who had a normal BMI ( Figure ). In individuals aged < 65 years, being overweight, level I, II, and III obesity were associated with a progressively higher risk of CVD mortality. Conclusion: Overweight and level I obesity seem to be protective against CVD mortality in older adults. This obesity paradox suggests that the optimal BMI might be sensitive to age. Thus, weight management should be individualized.

Background As a common tumor with high incidence, osteosarcoma possesses extremely poor prognosis and high mortality. Improving the survival of osteosarcoma patients is still a great challenge due to the precipice of advancement in treatment. This study aims to develop a multifunctional nanoplatform based on the synergistic effect of NIR-II photothermal therapy (PTT) and gene therapy for efficient treatment of osteosarcoma. Methods In this study, a combination strategy of gene therapy and photothermal therapy (PTT) is developed for efficient treatment of osteosarcoma. Two-dimensional (2D) FePS3 nanosheets are synthesized and functionalized by poly-L-lysine-PEG-folic acid (PPF) to fabricate a multifunctional nanoplatform (FePS@PPF) for further loading microRNAs inhibitor, miR-19a inhibitor (anti-miR-19a). Results The photothermal conversion efficiency of FePS@PPF is up to 47.1% under irradiation by 1064 nm laser. In vitro study shows that anti-miR-19a can be efficiently internalized into osteosarcoma cells through the protection and delivery of FePS@PPF nanao carrier, which induces up-regulation of PTEN gene and down-regulation p-AKT gene. After intravenous injection, the FePS@PPF nanoplatform specifically accumulates to tumor site of osteosarcoma-bearing mice. The in vitro and in vivo investigations reveal that the combined PTT-gene therapy displays most significant tumor ablation compared with monotherapy. More importantly, the good biodegradability promotes FePS@PPF to be cleared from body avoiding potential toxicity of long-term retention. Conclusion Our work not only develops a combined strategy of NIR-II PTT and gene therapy mediated by anti-miR-19a/FePS@PPF but also provides insights into the design and applications of other nanotherapeutic platforms.

In oral squamous cell carcinoma (OSCC), a highly aggressive and frequently lethal malignancy, the role and action mechanism of the microtubule regulatory protein CDK5RAP2 have not been fully understood. Here, we show that CDK5RAP2 is highly expressed in OSCC and its expression correlates with clinical stage and lymph node metastasis of the disease. The expression of CDK5RAP2 is regulated by the Wnt signaling pathway. Depletion of CDK5RAP2 inhibits the tumorigenesis and migration of OSCC cells and alters the OSCC cancer stem (-like) cell (CSC) signature. Notably, suppression of CDK5RAP2 expression disrupts spindle orientation during mitosis. Collectively, these results identify CDK5RAP2 as a potential CSC marker and reveal a mechanism that controls the CSC population in OSCC.

Accurate information concerning crown profile is critical in analyzing biological processes and providing a more accurate estimate of carbon balance, which is conducive to sustainable forest management and planning. The similarities between the types of data addressed with LSTM algorithms and crown profile data make a compelling argument for the integration of deep learning into the crown profile modeling. Thus, the aim was to study the application of deep learning method LSTM and its variant algorithms in the crown profile modeling, using the crown profile database from Pinus yunnanensis secondary forests in Yunnan province, in southwest China. Furthermore, the SHAP (SHapley Additive exPlanations) was used to interpret the predictions of ensemble or deep learning models. The results showed that LSTM’s variant algorithms was competitive with traditional Vanila LSTM, but substantially outperformed ensemble learning model LightGBM. Specifically, the proposed Hybrid LSTM-LightGBM and Integrated LSTM-LightGBM have achieved a best forecasting performance on training set and testing set respectively. Furthermore, the feature importance analysis of LightGBM and Vanila LSTM presented that there were more factors that contribute significantly to Vanila LSTM model compared to LightGBM model. This phenomenon can explain why deep learning outperforms ensemble learning when there are more interrelated features.

Background: Although various new biomaterials have enriched the methods for periodontal regeneration, their efficacy is still controversial, and the regeneration of damaged support tissue in the periodontium remains challenging. Laponite (LAP) nanosilicate is a layered two-dimensionalnanoscale, ultrathin nanomaterial with a unique structure and brilliant biocompatibility and bioactivity. Incorporation of LAP nanosilicate into polycaprolactone (PCL/LAP) provided cumulative effects on osteogenesis, angiogenesis and osteoclastogenesis during bone regeneration. Methods:This study aimed to investigate the effects of nanosilicate-incorporated PCL (PCL/LAP) nanofibrous membranes on periodontal ligament cells (PDLCs) in vitro and periodontal regeneration in vivo. A PCL/LAP nanofibrous membrane was fabricated by an electrospinning method. The morphology and mechanical property of PCL/LAP nanofibrous membrane were characterized by scanning electron microscopy (SEM), energy dispersive spectrum of X-ray (EDS) and tensile test. The proliferationand osteogenic differentiation of PDLCs on the PCL/LAP nanofibrous membrane were determined. A PDLCs and macrophage coculturesystem was used to explore the immunomodulatory effects of the PCL/LAP nanofibrous membrane. PCL/LAP nanofibrous membrane was implanted into rat calvarial and periodontal defects, and the regenerative potential was evaluated by microcomputed topography (micro-CT) and histological analysis. Results: The PCL/LAP nanofibrous membrane showed good biocompatibility and bioactivity. It enhanced the proliferation and osteogenic differentiation of PDLCs. The PCL/LAP nanofibrous membrane also stimulated anti-inflammatory and pro-remodeling N2 neutrophil formation, regulated inflammatory responses and induced M2 macrophage polarization by orchestrating the immunomodulatory effects of PDLCs. The PCL/LAP nanofibrous membrane promoted rat calvarial defect repair and periodontal regeneration in vivo. Conclusions: LAP nanosilicate-incorporated PCL membrane is capable of mediating osteogenesis and immunomodulation of PDLCs in vitro and acceleratingperiodontal regeneration in vivo. It could be a promising biomaterial for periodontal regeneration therapy.

The mitochondrial genome of Camellia nitidissima was sequenced by Illumina and Pacbio sequencing. The results of sequences showed that a total length was 949,915 bp, and the GC content was 45.7% in assembled mitochondrial genome of C. nitidissima. 71 unigenes had been found, including 36 coding proteins and 35 non-coding proteins. Subsequently, the phylogenetic tree was built on 24 plants with the maximum-likelihood method, which had high bootstrap value and fited to the angiosperm phylogeny group classification (APG IV). The study’s findings unravel the taxonomic status of C. nitidissima and benefit the evolution study.

Metconazole (MEZ) is widely used in prevention and control of fruit and vegetable diseases. Here, a simple and reliable gas chromatography–tandem mass spectrometry (GC-MS/MS) method, using modified QuEChERS (“quick, easy, cheap, effective, rugged and safe”) extraction method, was developed for determining the dissipation and residue of MEZ in grapes and soil, and the dietary risk of MEZ residues in grapes was evaluated for Chinese people. The average recoveries of MEZ in two matrices were 80.72–100.36% with relative standard deviations of 1.56–6.16%. The same limits of detection and quantification in grapes and soil were 0.0006 mg/kg and 0.002 mg/kg, respectively. Under field conditions, the half-life of MEZ dissipation in grapes ranged from 11.75 to 20.39 days. The final residues of MEZ in grapes and soil ranged from 0.002 mg/kg to 0.19 mg/kg at pre-harvest intervals of 7, 14 and 21 days. The whole dietary risk assessment indicated acute hazard index and hazard quotient to be less than 1, implying the risk of MEZ was acceptable. This is the first study conducted on the dissipation, residue analysis and risk assessment of MEZ in grapes, thus providing reference for the detection and risk assessment of MEZ in other agricultural products.

As the technical support of the industrial Internet of Things, blockchain technology has been widely used in energy trading, data transactions, and Internet of Vehicles. However, most of the existing energy trading models only address the transaction security and transaction privacy issues that arise in the energy trading process, ignoring the fairness of resource allocation and transaction equity in the trading process. In order to tackle those problems, an energy trading scheme called HO-TRAD is proposed in this paper to improve the efficiency of model trading while ensuring the fairness of energy trading. We propose a new trading strategy in the HO-TRAD energy trading scheme that guarantees fairness in the allocation of trading resources by introducing an entity’s active reputation value. Use smart contracts to achieve transparency and ensure fairness in the transaction process. Based on the identity verification foundation of the consortium chain, the scheme enhances the existing PBFT consensus algorithm and improves the efficiency of model transactions. The experimental simulation indicates that the scheme requires less transaction time and has higher transaction fairness and security.

Flavonoids are natural polyphenolic compounds with a diverse array of biological activities and health-promoting effects. Recent studies have found that 4,4′-dimethoxychalcone (DMC) promoted longevity via autophagy; however, its targets are currently unknown. Herein, we employed an unbiased thermal proteome profiling (TPP) method and identified multiple targets of DMC, including ALDH1A3, ALDH2, and PTGES2. We further determined the dissociation constant (Kd) of DMC and ALDH1A3 to be 2.8 μM using microscale thermophoresis (MST) analysis, which indicated that DMC inhibited ALDH1A3 activity and aggravated cellular oxidative stress. DMC treatment significantly increased cellular reactive oxygen species (ROS) production and inhibited cancer cell growth. Quantitative proteomic analysis showed that DMC upregulated proteins associated with stress-responses and downregulated proteins associated with cell cycle progression, and this was confirmed using cell cycle analysis. Taken together, we showed that TPP is an effective tool with which to identify flavonoid targets and set a precedent for deciphering flavonoid function in the future. We have demonstrated that DMC inhibited cell proliferation via ROS-induced cell cycle arrest and is an anti-proliferative agent in cancer treatment.

Globally, commercialized plum cultivars are mostly diploid Chinese plums (Prunus salicina Lindl.), also known as Japanese plums, and are one of the most abundant and variable fruit tree species. To advance Prunus genomic research, we present a chromosome-scale P. salicina genome assembly, constructed using an integrated strategy that combines Illumina, Oxford Nanopore, and high-throughput chromosome conformation capture (Hi-C) sequencing. The high-quality genome assembly consists of a 318.6 Mb sequence (contig N50 length of 2.3 Mb) with eight pseudochromosomes. The expansion of the P. salicina genome is led by recent segmental duplications (SDs) and a long terminal repeat (LTR) burst of ~0.2 Mya. This resulted in the significant expansion of gene families associated with flavonoid metabolism and plant resistance, which impacted fruit flavor and increased species adaptability. Population structure and domestication history suggest that Chinese plum may have been originated from South China and provides a domestication route with accompanying genomic variations. Selection sweep and genetic diversity analysis enabled the identification of several critical genes associated with flowering time, stress tolerance, and flavonoid metabolism, demonstrating the essential roles of related pathways during domestication. Furthermore, we reconstructed and exploited flavonoid-anthocyanin metabolism using multi-omics analysis in Chinese plum and proposed a complete metabolic pathway. Collectively, our results will facilitate further candidate gene discovery for important agronomic traits in Chinese plum and provide insights into future functional genomic studies and DNA-informed breeding.

Source location privacy (SLP) protection is an emerging research topic in wireless sensor networks (WSNs). Because the source location represents the valuable information of the target being monitored and tracked, it is of great practical significance to achieve a high degree of privacy of the source location. Although many studies based on phantom nodes have alleviates the protection of source location privacy to some extent. It is urgent to solve the problems such as complicate the ac path between nodes, improve the centralized distribution of Phantom nodes near the source nodes and reduce the network communication overhead. In this paper, PSSPR routing is proposed as a visable approach to address SLP issues. We use the coordinates of the center node V to divide sector-domain, which act as important role in generating a new phantom nodes. The phantom nodes perform specified routing policies to ensure that they can choose various locations. In addition, the directed random route can ensure that data packets avoid the visible range when they move to the sink node hop by hop. Thus, the source location is protected. Theoretical analysis and simulation experiments show that this protocol achieves higher security of source node location with less communication overhead.

Regulating non-apoptotic cell death of cancer cells provides a promising strategy to overcome apoptosis resistance during cancer treatment. Lipids are essential components to exacerbate several non-apoptotic cell death pathways. In the present study, unsaturated fatty acid (UFA) liposomes prepared with linoleic acid, oleic acid, or α-linolenic acid have the potential to affect lipid metabolism. Notably, UFA liposomes markedly increased cellular reactive oxygen species (ROS) and down-regulated the expression of glutathione peroxidase 4 (GPX4) in tumor cells, resulting in lipid peroxidation, which in turn caused rapid membrane rupture and induced non-apoptotic cell death of tumor cells. Concomitantly, UFA liposomes induced ROS-mediated tumor-associated macrophages toward a tumoricidal phenotype to reverse the immunosuppressive tumor microenvironment. Consequently, UFA liposomes substantially inhibited tumor growth in a melanoma model by promoting lipid peroxidation, inducing non-apoptotic cell death of tumor cells, and increasing infiltration of anti-tumor immune cells at tumor sites. Therefore, UFA liposomes regulate GXP4 to exacerbate lipid peroxidation and provide a versatile liposome platform for enhancing anti-tumor therapy which could be readily extended to the delivery of anticancer agents.

BACKGROUND Smoking is a leading cause of premature death globally. Quitting smoking reduces the risk of all-cause mortality by 11%-34%. Smartphone app–based smoking cessation (SASC) interventions have been developed and are widely used. However, the evidence for the effectiveness of smartphone-based interventions for smoking cessation is currently equivocal. OBJECTIVE The purpose of this study was to synthesize the evidence for the effectiveness of smartphone app–based interventions for smoking cessation. METHODS We conducted a systematic review and meta-analysis of the effectiveness of smartphone interventions for smoking cessation based on the Cochrane methodology. An electronic literature search was performed using the Cochrane Library, Web of Science, PubMed, Embase, PsycINFO, China National Knowledge Infrastructure, and Wanfang databases to identify published papers in English or Chinese (there was no time limit regarding the publication date). The outcome was the smoking abstinence rate, which was either a 7-day point prevalence abstinence rate or a continuous abstinence rate. RESULTS A total of 9 randomized controlled trials involving 12,967 adults were selected for the final analysis. The selected studies from 6 countries (the United States, Spain, France, Switzerland, Canada, and Japan) were included in the meta-analysis between 2018 and 2022. Pooled effect sizes (across all follow-up time points) revealed no difference between the smartphone app group and the comparators (standard care, SMS text messaging intervention, web-based intervention, smoking cessation counseling, or apps as placebos without real function; odds ratio [OR] 1.25, 95% CI 0.99-1.56, P=.06, I2=73.6%). Based on the subanalyses, 6 trials comparing smartphone app interventions to comparator interventions reported no significant differences in effectiveness (OR 1.03, 95% CI 0.85-1.26, P=.74, I2=57.1%). However, the 3 trials that evaluated the combination of smartphone interventions combined with pharmacotherapy compared to pharmacotherapy alone found higher smoking abstinence rates in the combined intervention (OR 1.79, 95% CI 1.38-2.33, P=.74, I2=7.4%). All SASC interventions with higher levels of adherence were significantly more effective (OR 1.48, 95% CI 1.20-1.84, PI2=24.5%). CONCLUSIONS This systematic review and meta-analysis did not support the effectiveness of delivering smartphone-based interventions alone to achieve higher smoking abstinence rates. However, the efficacy of smartphone-based interventions increased when combined with pharmacotherapy-based smoking cessation approaches. Multi-cloud computing provides services by used different clouds simultaneously multi-signature can be used as the interactive technology between multi-cloud and users. However, the limited resources of some terminal devices make multi-signature, which based on bilinear map, is not suitable for multi-cloud computing environment. In addition, the signers are disclosure in multi-signature so there is the risk of attack. To solve this issues, this paper proposes a certificateless designated verifier multi-signature scheme based on multivariable public key cryptography (MPKC). Firstly, the formalized definition and security model of the proposed scheme are given. Secondly, it is proved that the proposed scheme is against adaptive chosen-message attacks. Finally, the analysis shows that the proposed scheme is more efficiency and suitable for multi-cloud. Moreover, the proposed scheme can hidding signature source to achieve privacy protection.

Secure comparison protocol is an important branch of secure multi-party computation(SMPC), which compares the size of input data without disclosing any information between participants. The development of cloud computing provides an application platform for SMPC, but it also brings new challenges. In cloud computing with SMPC, clients need to process their own data and submit the processed data to a cloud server, which then performs the computation. In this process, not only the clients need to maintain an honest state at all times, but sensitive data on the cloud server side may also be exposed. In this paper, zero-knowledge proof and homomorphic encryption techniques are used to improve Damgård-Geisler-KrØigaard(DGK) comparison protocol. The improved secure comparison protocol can not only safely calculate private data, but also be applicable to malicious participant model. Finally, the security analysis shows that the proposed scheme not only ensures the privacy security of participants, but also ensures the data fairness of comparison protocols.

Background: Home blood pressure (BP) monitoring is an effective strategy to diagnose and manage BP. However, uncertainty regarding patients’ ability to accurately measure their BP contributes to treatment inertia. Thus, we compared BP measurements with the Omron 9210T device obtained by clinicians and community-dwelling adults, after training. Methods: This cross-sectional study was conducted in a simulated home environment at an academic center in Maryland. After a 5-minute rest period, a trained clinician measured participants’ BP, twice at a 1-minute interval. Participants then ambulated at their usual pace for two minutes followed by a 5-minute rest. During the second rest period, the participant viewed a 3-minute video on how to measure their BP. They obtained two measurements at a 1-minute interval. Results: We included 90 adults with a mean age of 55 (±13.9) years, 58% were female, 88% were Black, 39% had annual income > 30 kg/m 2 . About half (52%) had a home BP monitor. There were no significant differences between clinician- and participant-obtained systolic BP (mean difference [MD]: -1.22, 95% confidence interval [CI]: -2.98-0.54, p = 0.173) or diastolic BP (MD: -0.62, 95% CI: -1.35-0.12, p = 0.094). There was no difference in between the large or extra-large cuff sizes. All participants demonstrated satisfactory self-measured BP skills after the training. Conclusions: Community-dwelling adults can accurately measure BP after a brief training. Integration of BP training into patient encounters may result in reliable home BP measurements, and use of home BP measures may potentially reduce clinical inertia.

Two-dimensional covalent organic framework (COF) has distinctive properties that offer potential opportunities for developing advanced electrode materials. In this work, a core-shell material composed of TAPB-DMTP-COF (TAPB, 1,3,5-tris(4-aminophenyl)benzene; DMTP, 2,5-dimethoxyterephaldehyde) core and conducting polymer shell, TAPB-DMTP-COF@PANI, was synthesized solvothermally using a polymerization method. The structural characteristics of the prepared composite were revealed by X-ray diffraction patterns (XRD), fourier transform infrared spectra (FTIR), X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS), transmission electron microscopy (TEM). The electrochemical analyses were verified by subsequent monitoring of trace levels of acetaminophen. This resultant composite not only facilitated acetaminophen to interact with absorption sites by π-π stacking effect and hydrogen bonding but also overcame the poor conductivity of COF. Under the optimal conditions, a low limit of detection of 0.032 μmol/L and wide linear range of 0.10−500 μmol/L were obtained. The electrochemical platform was almost unaffected by other interfering substances, and successfully applied for the practical detection of acetaminophen in commercial tablet, human blood serum and urine. The enhanced performance makes this COF based core-shell composite a promising material in electrochemical sensor.

Hypertrophic scar is a serious skin disorder, which reduces the patient's quality of life. 5-aminolevulinic acid (5-ALA)-mediated photodynamic therapy has been used to treat patients with hypertrophic scar. However, the poor skin retention of 5-ALA limited the therapeutic effect. In this study, we constructed the 5-ALA-hyaluronic acid (HA) complex to potentially prolong the skin retention of 5-ALA for improving the therapeutic efficacy. HA is a polysaccharide with viscoelasticity and the carboxyl groups could conjugate with amino groups of 5-ALA via electrostatic interaction. The protoporphyrin IX (PpIX) assay revealed that 5-ALA-HA complexes markedly enhanced the skin retention, resulting in increased generation and accumulation of endogenous photosensitizer PpIX. Furthermore, 5-ALA-HA complexes allowed PpIX to be maintained at a high level for 12 h, much longer than the 3 h of 5-ALA alone. And then, the accumulative PpIX induced by 5-ALA-HA in human hypertrophic scar fibroblasts (HSF) was triggered by laser irradiation to produce sufficient reactive oxygen species, leading to efficient necrosis and apoptosis of HSF. In vivo therapeutic efficacy study indicated that 5-ALA-HA effectively reduced the appearance and scar thickness, and the scar elevation index with 5-ALA-HA treatment was significantly lower than other groups, suggesting that the 5-ALA-HA-treated scar became flattened and was closely matched to the unwounded tissues. Moreover, 5-ALA-HA treatment markedly downregulated the gene expression levels of α-SMA and TGF-β1, demonstrating attenuated the scar formation and growth. Therefore, the 5-ALA-HA complex enhancing skin retention and PpIX accumulation at the lesion site provide a promising therapeutic strategy for hypertrophic scar.
