Background: Nurses are consistently present throughout the rehabilitation of older patients but are apprehensive about performing goal-centred care in the multidisci plinary team. Objectives: The aim of this review was to explore working interventions on setting goals and working with goals designed for nurses in geriatric rehabilitation, and to describe their distinctive features. Methods: We performed a scoping review. We searched MEDLINE and CINAHL through August 4, 2021. Search terms related to the following themes: nurses, reha bilitation, geriatric, goal and method. We used snowballing to find additional. From the selected studies, we systematically extracted data on means, materials and the nursing role and summarized them in a narrative synthesis, using intervention com ponent analysis. Results: The study includes 13 articles, describing 11 interventions which were devel oped for six different aims: improving multidisciplinary team care; increasing patient centredness; improving disease management by patients; improving the psychological, and emotional rehabilitation; increasing the nursing involvement in rehabilitation; or helping patients to achieve goals. The interventions appeal to four aspects of the nurs ing profession: assessing self-care skills incorporating patient's preferences; setting goals with patients, taking into account personal needs and what is medically advis able; linking the needs of the patient with multidisciplinary professional treatment and vice versa; and thus, playing an intermediate role and supporting goal achievement. Conclusions: The interventions show that in goal-centred care, the nurse might play an important unifying role between patients and the multidisciplinary team. With the support of nurses, the patient may become more aware of the rehabilitation process and transfer of ownership of treatment goals from the multidisciplinary team to the patient might be achieved. Not many interventions were found meant to support thenursing role. This may indicate a blind spot in the rehabilitation community to the ad ditional value of its contribution.

What is known on the subject?: Frontline forensic mental health staff often face challenges when providing recovery-orientated care, as they must balance between caring for the forensic psychiatric patient and at the same time ensuring safety and security for all other patients and staff at the ward. Research shows that balancing between care and custody in everyday clinical practice is possible, but more practical nursing studies showing ways of balancing power relations are needed to guide clinical practice. Online video games are increasingly recognized as promising new tools to promote social relations, establish competencies and re-articulate power relations in therapeutic environments. What the paper adds to existing knowledge?: This paper provides insights into how using online video gaming interventions may influence the establishment of social power relations of staff and forensic psychiatric patients. It adds to existing research by providing a conceptual way to study and understand how mental health nurses may balance between care and custody, delivering care to accommodate patients' needs without compromising safety and security at the ward. This study answers a call in current research by providing qualified knowledge regarding the use of online video gaming to build and sustain therapeutic relations in mental health care. What are the implications for practice?: Our paper suggests that balancing between care and custody is possible by using online video gaming interventions in forensic psychiatry. It moreover provides practice-close knowledge that may inspire and guide clinical mental health nurses to further develop online video gaming interventions in mental health care for the benefit of their patients. Abstract: Introduction In recovery-oriented care, forensic psychiatric nurses must engage in care relationships with forensic psychiatric patients (FPs) whilst focussing on ward security. Online video games (OVGs) may provide a platform for negotiating power and social relations. Studies showing how OVG interventions may influence power balances in forensic psychiatric care are needed to guide clinical practice. Aim Our aim was to study how power relations were articulated between FPs and staff in an OVG intervention in a Danish forensic psychiatric ward. Method Data consist of three months of observational data and interviews with three staff members and six patients. We used sociologist Pierre Bourdieu's framework of field, power and capital to analyze data. Results The OVG intervention consisted of two power fields, “in-game” and “over-game.” In-game concerned the practice of gaming. Over-game described the organization of the gaming intervention. Specific logics, skills and symbolic capitals drove power in each field. Discussion Power in-game was open to FPs and staff, leading to symmetric power relations. Power over-game was open to staff only, resulting in asymmetrical power relations. Implications for practice Online video game interventions may facilitate power balancing in forensic psychiatry. These insights may guide the development of new OVG interventions for patients and nurses in mental health care.

This article presents a story, told in firs person by a young service user, about his falling in love with a nurse during his stay in the therapeutic residential facility. Marco talks to have managed the event in an atypical way, involving the entire team and his fellow patients. It was not a supervision - as happens in most cases - but an "intervision" (Bianchi et al.2009), which is a situation in which a group of professionals of different types working within the same mental health context, meet to respond to the request of a colleague to overcome a moment of impasse. It therefore involves already available resources rather than external experts. The story is relevant because it allows us to understand the potential effectiveness of such a strategy, where the client's point of view is assumed and the entire team together with the group of clients takes charge.

Home support for patients receiving in-home palliative and end-of-life care (PELC) is greatly dependent on the daily presence of caregivers and their involvement in care delivery. However, the needs of caregivers throughout the care trajectory of a loved one receiving in-home PELC are still relatively unknown. Objectives and methodology: This descriptive qualitative study focuses on the role of caregivers who have cared for a person receiving in-home PELC with the goal of describing their needs throughout the care trajectory. As part of this process, 20 caregivers took part in semi-directed interviews. Results and discussion: This study sheds light on the multiple needs of caregivers of loved ones receiving in-home PELC. These informational, emotional, and psychosocial needs show that caregivers experience changes in their relationship with their loved one. Spiritual needs were expressed through the meaning ascribed to the home support experience. And the practical needs expressed by participants highlight the importance of round-the-clock access to PELC services and the essential importance of nursing support. Conclusion: The needs of caregivers of loved ones receiving in-home PELC are not being met to a satisfactory degree. It is important to consider these needs in the care trajectory, alongside the needs of the patients themselves, in order to improve the support experience leading up to the bereavement period. Old age represents a social group that is undergoing continuous expansion. The aging population will be prone to chronic diseases and falls, which is a marker of frailty and a public health problem. This study aims to examine the relationship between living conditions and the prevalence of the risk of falls in older adults within the community. As an observational cross-sectional study, intentional sampling was carried out on residents of the metropolitan area over 75 years of age. The socio-demographic data of the subjects and their history of falls were collected. Additionally, the subjects were evaluated on the risk of falling, basic activities of daily living, such as walking and balance, fragility, and their fear of falling. The statistical analyses used were based on the Shapiro–Wilk test for normality, statistics of central tendency with description, mean (M) and dispersion, standard deviation (SD), bivariate contingency tables for studying the relationships between the variables, and the analysis of Pearson’s relational statistics (χ2). The comparisons of means were resolved by parametric or non-parametric routes. We obtained the following results: 1. The socio-demographic profile of our sample consisted of adults over 75 years of age, the majority of whom were overweight or obese women living in an urban area, specifically in an apartment, and receiving care; 2. Older people in the studied community had mild dependency and frailty, and were also at severe risk of falls; 3. The prevalence of falls was higher in women than in men in this study. Through these results, we confirmed the relationship between living conditions and the prevalence of risk of falls in older adults within the community.

La patología dual es la confluencia en un mismo individuo que presenta un trastorno psiquiátrico y un trastorno por adicciones. El paciente dual se caracteriza por su dificultad de manejo y la falta de adherencia a los tratamientos aumentando así las recaídas y rehospitalizaciones. Objetivo: conocer el papel de la enfermera en la intervención del paciente con patología dual. Metodología: revisión de la literatura mediante la búsqueda en diferentes bases de datos Pubmed, Dialnet, Scielo y Redalyc así como herramientas de búsqueda como: Elsevier y Google académico y páginas web oficiales. Resultados: se ha recogido información sobre las características comunes en el perfil del paciente dual como ser hombre, joven, sin pareja, bajo nivel cultural y educativo, desempleado, conductas violentas, fracaso terapéutico, más comorbilidades médicas, exclusión social, escaso apoyo familiar y falta de conciencia de enfermedad. En los factores que inciden en la adherencia al tratamiento estarían el estado anímico, los deseos de consumo, la presión externa del entorno, la falta de confianza con los profesionales y el tratamiento, así como los fracasos anteriores. Las intervenciones más adecuadas han sido las mixtas (conductuales y educativas), la entrevista motivacional y la psicoeducación. Conclusiones: para realizar un buen abordaje integral se debe tener en cuenta el perfil completo, esto incluye el perfil clínico y sociodemográfico. El tratamiento por excelencia, es un tratamiento integral. Conocer los factores que actuaran de forma protectora y factores de riesgo. La enfermera desarrolla un papel muy importante dentro del equipo multidisciplinar con herramientas básicas como la observación y la comunicación. Dual pathology is the confluence in the same individual of a psychiatric disorder and an addiction disorder. The dual patient is characterised by difficulty of management and lack of adherence to treatment, thus increasing relapses and re-hospitalisations. Objective: to find out the role of the nurse in the intervention of the patient with dual pathology. Methodology: review of the literature by searching different databases such as Pubmed, Dialnet, Scielo and Redalyc as well as search tools such as: Elsevier and Google academic and official websites. Results: information has been collected on the common characteristics of the dual patient profile, such as being male, young, without a partner, low cultural and educational level, unemployed, violent behaviour, therapeutic failure, more medical comorbidities, social exclusion, little family support and lack of awareness of the disease. Factors affecting adherence to treatment include mood, cravings, external pressure from the environment, lack of trust in professionals and treatment, and previous failures. The most appropriate interventions have been mixed interventions (behavioural and educational), motivational interviewing and psychoeducation. Conclusions: for a good comprehensive approach, the complete profile must be taken into account, including the clinical and socio-demographic profile. Almost a quarter of children in Kingdom of Saudi Arabia (KSA) are diagnosed with asthma, and it is the third most common reason for hospital admissions, representing a major public health challenge. This article review is a chapter from PhD thesis that identified the perspective of health professional and patients about the nursing role during pediatric asthma management based Burawoy’s extended case method. A qualitative paradigm was deemed to be most appropriate to fully grasp the meanings that the participants attach to the phenomenon of childhood asthma management. Then, this review described a a new Nursing Role Development Model as a way of conceptualising the nursing role generally, in order to recognize the importance of multi-level environments as well as interactions between the levels as key factors influencing development which may applied to the field in Saudi Arabia. The impact of the clinical nurse specialist enhances patient care and promotes professional nursing practice. This article provides a review of the asthma management and its challenges, a description of multifactor such as professional power, policy, culture and gender roles on stakeholders’ perceptions of nurses in general and asthma nurse specialists in particular, and a discussion of opportunities and potential threats to future growth of the clinical nurse specialist role.

RESUMEN: La demencia afecta a alrededor de un billon de personas al ano, teniendo un gran impacto sobre la familia y la economia. Esta enfermedad se caracteriza por un deterioro cognitivo progresivo, cuya causa mas frecuente es la Enfermedad de Alzheimer. Como principal factor de riesgo se considera la edad, aunque hay otros factores que contribuyen a su aparicion. Esta revision muestra la necesidad de crear un equipo multidisciplinario con un rol relevante para el personal de enfermeria en relacion al cuidado y terapia del paciente. Desde el punto de vista del tratamiento, las intervenciones no farmacologicas se consideran, en algunos casos, como la primera de eleccion que aplica estrategias multidisciplinares centradas en la persona. RESUMEN: El parto es una experiencia significativa, única y trascendental en la vida de toda mujer gestante. La idealización del parto culmina con el deseo de un nacimiento sin complicaciones, y se basa, a su vez, en el sentimiento de control y pertenencia mediante la toma de decisiones activa. El dolor de parto conforma un elemento clave dentro del proceso de parto, y se define como uno de los dolores más intensos que va a experimentar una mujer a lo largo de su vida. Toda mujer tiene el derecho de elegir entre aliviar este dolor o no, y el cómo hacerlo. Para ello, disponemos tanto de métodos analgésicos farmacológicos (epidural u óxido nitroso), como de técnicas alternativas y/o complementarias (libre movilidad, hidroterapia, musicoterapia o el uso de pelotas de parto, entre otras). Es imprescindible conocer y manejar todos los métodos accesibles, donde el papel enfermero es fundamental para alcanzar así una experiencia de parto positiva. The idealization of childbirth culminates in the desire for an uncomplicated birth, and is based, in turn, on the feeling of control and belonging through active decision-making. Labor pain is a key element in the delivery process, and it is defined as one of the most intense pain that a woman will experience throughout her life. Every woman has the right to choose between alleviating this pain or not, and how to do it. For this, we have both pharmacological analgesic methods (epidural or nitrous oxide), as well as alternative and / or complementary techniques (free mobility, hydrotherapy, music therapy or the use of birthing balls, among others). It is essential to know and handle all accessible methods, where the nursing role is essential in order to achieve a positive birth experience. All information related to pain management options should be provided at each stage of the process, along with their contraindications, benefits, and disadvantages. WHAT IS KNOWN ON THE SUBJECT?: Only a small number of adolescents with suicidal behaviour receives any follow-up treatment. The implementation of recurrent behaviour prevention strategies is crucial in the period following suicide attempts and should take into account adolescents' opinions to be effective and congruent. WHAT DOES THIS PAPER ADD TO EXISTING KNOWLEDGE?: This paper shows that the 33 adolescent participants in the study identified the following protective factors of recurrent suicidal behaviour: family, friends and other trusted persons, as well as the self and newly learned strategies. The adolescents described their family as a constant presence and reported wishing that their parents maintain their current family support. Psychological support, health professionals and occupational activities are what the adolescents value most about hospitalization, and some criticisms are related to the environment, activities and health professionals. The adolescents also emphasize the need to maintain contact with the nurses after hospital discharge and make suggestions for service improvement related to the environment and the interventions implemented. WHAT ARE THE IMPLICATIONS FOR PRACTICE?: Knowing the protective factors of recurrent suicidal behaviours, perception of the impact of the intervention, the expectation of future support and healthcare follow-up is crucial for adapting suicide prevention strategies to be put in place by health services for better quality care delivery. The results obtained allow us to define as specific implications the implementation of psychoeducational intervention directed at the adolescent's family with suicidal behaviour during hospitalization and the definition of strategies for maintaining contact and follow-up with the adolescent after discharge. This study emphasizes the need to reinforce training in suicidology for all health professionals for the improvement of clinical practice. Abstract INTRODUCTION: The prevention of recurrent suicidal behaviours in adolescents should consider their perceptions, needs and expectations. Aim/question To identify the protective factors of recurrent suicidal behaviours in adolescents; To describe the family and the expectations for future involvement; To know the most important aspects of hospitalization and discuss expectations of nursing care follow-up after hospital discharge. Method A descriptive, qualitative and exploratory study was carried out in a sample of 33 adolescents with suicidal behaviours. Data were collected through semi-structured interviews, and the data processing used the content analysis technique. Results Findings arising from data allowed identifying the protective factors: family, friends and other trusted persons. During the hospitalization, the adolescents reinforce the knowledge about themselves and the newly learnt coping strategies. Psychological support and health professionals are what they value most about hospitalization and emphasize the need to maintain contact with the nurses after discharge. Discussion Knowing the needs and expectations of adolescents with suicidal behaviour will make nursing psychotherapeutic interventions more effective and congruent in this vulnerable group. Implications for practice Ensuring psychoeducational intervention to the families of adolescents with suicidal behaviour and continuity of care after discharge, and reinforcing the training in suicidology for all health professionals.

The article reviews the development of oncology nurses’ role, training, education, practice, and service provision in Hong Kong, highlighting milestones over the past two decades and providing directions for future training, practice, and research. There was an expansion of the diversity of roles and practice from the 2000s onward, reflecting the importance of contribution by nurses to clinical practice and service for cancer patients. These areas include advanced roles and competence development, advanced training, service delivery model, cross-cluster collaboration, quality improvement initiatives, and new nurse clinic model. Recognizing the challenges and the opportunities, it helps to identify the future work with newer and more advanced practice foci as well as training initiatives in advanced practice being developed to meet the increased needs of increasing service load and populations in need of ongoing access to oncology care. The role and the continuous efforts of the clinical, academic, and professional bodies to meet this goal will be crucial and strategic in the future.

Aim: To assess the feasibility of a nursing educational intervention for inpatient stroke rehabilitation and its acceptability from the nursing staff's perspective.Background: There is currently a lack of interventions that integrate the diversity of nurses' role and functions in stroke rehabilitation and explore their effect on patient outcomes.Design: We used a convergent, parallel, mixed-method design with data interviews and questionnaires.Methods: Data collection was undertaken between February - July 2016. Data from questionnaires (N = 31) were analysed using descriptive statistics. The interviews (N = 10) were analysed using deductive content analysis.Results: There was a high level of satisfaction with the educational programme in terms of its acceptability and feasibility. The qualitative findings disclosed the nursing staff's experiences with the educational programme. Mixed-methods analysis showed confirmatory results that were convergent and expanded. Only minor adjustments are required before an effect study can be conducted.

ResumenIntroducciónLa globalización trae consigo importantes desafíos como los riesgos de importar productos y hábitos nocivos para la salud, resultado del floreciente comercio internacional, y oportunidades para el sector salud como la posibilidad de adquirir nuevos conocimientos y tecnologías para combatir problemas de salud que antes no se podían controlar. Estas últimas han propiciado los procesos de transición demográfica y epidemiológica, que se caracterizan por un aumento progresivo de la población adulta mayor con la consecuente carga de morbilidad asociada a enfermedades crónicas y degenerativas. However, these technologies have also promoted a demographic transition characterized by an increase of the elder populations, and thus a morbidity burden associated with chronic and degenerative illnesses. Therefore, it has been necessary to develop new assistance modalities, such as home care, in order to better respond to the needs and characteristics of these populations.Objectiveto describe the development of the home care dedicated to the elder populations in Chile, making an emphasis on home hospitalization and the nursing professional role, as a response to the demographic and epidemiologic changes resulting from the globalization process.Developmentthe growth of the elder populations demands that nursing professionals augment their communication skills within the patient-family binomial, intervene in favor of the care provider care, promote care skills in the care provider, potentiate the practices of health promotion at home, and develop assisting roles linked to management, education, and research.Conclusionshome care should be potentiated for these special populations in order to prevent the bad consequences of traditional hospitalizations and also to promote their own self-care practices.

ObjectivePatients suffering from advanced disease face different care transitions. The transition from acute to palliative care is challenging and may lead to the discontinuity of care. Family caregivers become important sources of information, as patients begin to experience difficulties in coping with emotional transition events. The Care Transition Measure was developed to evaluate care transitions as experienced by the elderly. It has never been used in palliative care. The aim of this study was to test the validity and reliability of a modified version of the Palliative Care Transition Measure, specifically the Palliative Care Transition Measure for Caregivers (PCTM-C).MethodThe study included two main phases. Phase I focused on the construction of a modified version of the Palliative Care Transition Measure through two focus groups and by computing the content validity index. Phase II focused on testing the psychometric properties of the PCTM-C on 272 family caregivers through confirmatory factor analysis.ResultThe content validity index for each of the items was higher than 0.80, whereas that for the scale was 0.95. The model tested with confirmatory factor analysis fitted the data well and confirmed that the transition measures referred to communication, integrated care and a trusting-relationship, and therefore the core dimensions of continuity according to existing conceptual models. The internal consistency was high (Cronbach's alpha = 0.94).Significance of resultsThe PCTM-C proved to be a suitable measure of the quality of such transitions. It may be used in clinical practice as a continuity quality indicator and has the potential to guide interventions to enhance family caregivers’ experience of care continuity.

Trabajo fin de grado en Enfermería, Introducción: La obesidad y el sobrepeso infantil es actualmente uno de los problemas con mayor gravedad a nivel mundial en el siglo XXI. Hoy en día se considera una pandemia debido a su incremento. Objetivo: Revisar la evidencia disponible sobre cuáles son los factores de riesgo que favorecen la obesidad infantil durante la etapa escolar y las intervenciones más efectivas. Metodología: Revisión narrativa. Se emplearon las siguientes bases de datos: Pubmed, Cinahl, Cuiden, Scielo, Cochrane Plus y Psycoinfo. Se recuperaron los artículos en español e inglés en los últimos 5 años, a partir de los criterios de inclusión y exclusión. Resultados: La obesidad infantil está influida por diversos factores de riesgo, por lo que se considera de origen multifactorial. La dieta no saludable, el sedentarismo, la inactividad física, el desarrollo de las nuevas tecnologías y la influencia de la publicidad son algunos de estos factores. Respecto a las consecuencias de la obesidad infantil se pueden encontrar a corto plazo como bajo rendimiento escolar y consecuencias psicoemocionales, entre otras, como consecuencias a largo plazo, diabetes mellitus II, enfermedades cardiovasculares, e incluso la muerte prematura. Se identifica que el profesional de salud más apto para abordar el problema de la obesidad infantil es la enfermera, por su perspectiva holística y crítica que posee para afrontar esta enfermedad. Conclusiones: Actualmente, el abordaje más adecuado está basado en intervenciones integrales, combinando actividad física, educación y nutrición., Introduction: nowadays childhood obesity is one of the most serious problems worldwide in the twenty-first century. These days it is considered a pandemic due to its increase. Objective: to look over the available evidence about the risk factors that promote childhood obesity during scholar period and the most effective interventions. Methodology: narrative review. The following database were used: Pubmed, Cinahl, Cuiden, Scielo, Cochrane Plus and Psycoinfo. Articles in English and Spanish from the last five years were recovered, according to inclusion and exclusion standards. Results: childhood obesity is influenced by different risk factors, which is why it is considered an illness with a multifactorial origin. An unhealthy diet, a sedentary lifestyle, physical inactivity, the development of new technologies and the influence of advertisings are some of these factors. Regarding to the consequences of childhood obesity, among the short-term consequences can be found low scholar performance or psycho-emotional consequences; and among the long-term consequences can be mentioned diabetes mellitus II, cardiovascular diseases or even premature death. The nurse is identified as the most suitable health professional to approach the issue of child obesity, due to her holistic and critical perspective to face this disease. Conclusions: Currently, the most suitable approach is based on comprehensive interventions, combining physical activity and education with healthier nutrition.

El dolor crónico es un importante problema de salud pública ya que afecta aproximadamente a un 25% de la población española. El dolor crónico está infradiagnosticado debido a su importante componente subjetivo. Provoca un gran impacto personal, social y económico deteriorando la calidad de vida de la persona que lo padece. Por esta razón, es muy importante realizar una buena valoración. A lo largo de la historia se ha intentado aliviar el dolor, llegando en la actualidad a las unidades de dolor. Estas unidades surgen para aliviar y tratar el dolor a través de nuevas técnicas y fármacos. Deben de estar formadas por un equipo multidisciplinar para que el alivio del dolor sea eficaz. Los profesiones de enfermería juegan un papel muy importante en estas unidades ya que son quienes están en mayor contacto con los pacientes, sus familiares y entorno, lo que les proporciona las herramientas necesarias para abordarlo de forma integral. A lo largo de los historia, la enfermería ha evolucionado en nuestro país, hasta la actualidad, consiguiendo un salto muy valioso en el terreno académico, con la creación de la titulación del Grado en enfermería, y por consiguiente la creación de una formación post-grado pertinente. Esta evolución no ha sido la única, también ha evolucionado en el ámbito laboral, creando profesionales de enfermería con una cualificación excelente para el desarrollo de un trabajo autónomo, basado en la mejor evidencia científica. Todo esto nos hace reflexionar sobre ¿Qué percepción tiene la población sobre la enfermería?. La imagen de la enfermería siempre ha estado asignada a creencias y estereotipos, marcados por el pasado de la profesión. Esta imagen se queda muy alejada de la realidad de la profesión. Asimismo esto nos crea otra reflexión: ¿Quién/qué es el culpable de la transmisión de esta imagen?. Diferentes factores puede ser los consecuentes de la trasmisión de esta imagen, desde los diferentes medios de comunicación, las series de televisión, las películas…, hasta los propios profesionales de la enfermería. Todos estos factores se han identificado como los responsables de la trasmisión de dicha imagen, fomentar o estableciendo creencias sobre esta imagen. Grado en Enfermería

La enfermería desde sus orígenes estuvo ligada a la sociedad en que se encontraba. En España desde su profesionalización sufrió avances y retrocesos, padeciendo un periodo de estancamiento durante la Guerra Civil y posterior Dictadura. Para los practicantes y, especialmente, las enfermeras que trabajaban en esa época, su principal ocupación era hacer tareas auxiliares para la profesión médica. Pero en los años 50, con la aparición del título de Ayudante Técnico Sanitario, donde se unificaron los Títulos de Practicante, Matrona y Enfermera, la profesión comenzó a evolucionar, aunque los cambios fueron más teóricos que prácticos. Entre 1975 y 1986 la sociedad española sufrió muchos cambios que afectaron intensamente a la profesión. La enfermería se hizo universitaria y se desarrolló una reforma del sistema sanitario con la implantación de la Atención Primaria. El nuevo modelo de atención llevó a las enfermeras a tener su consulta en el centro de salud y unas actividades profesionales propias de las que era responsable. Pasó de ser un recurso del médico a ser una profesión indispensable en la atención a la comunidad y a trabajar en equipo. Grado en Enfermería

Hoy en día, la parada cardiorrespiratoria extrahospitalaria (PCREH) continúa siendo en gran parte de países civilizados, la principal causa de mortalidad. Numerosos estudios aseguran que para salvar una vida es determinante la realización de maniobras de reanimación cardiopulmonar básica (RCPB) por parte de testigos en el menor tiempo posible. Los buenos resultados que se obtienen tras la realización de una reanimación cardiopulmonar básica precoz han despertado el interés en promover la enseñanza de la reanimación cardiopulmonar desde la etapa escolar. La escuela es el mejor lugar para iniciar un programa reglado de formación en RCP debido a que hasta los 15 años la educación es obligatoria para todos los ciudadanos en nuestro país. El profesional de Enfermería se convierte en la figura de referencia para llevar a cabo este tipo de programas de salud puesto que tiene la formación académica y clínica necesaria para coordinar este tipo de actividades. Pese a que en nuestro país, la figura de la Enfermera Escolar no está generalizada, sí se percibe como una necesidad por toda la comunidad. Grado en Enfermería

El intestino grueso es un órgano con forma de tubo, de aproximadamente un metro y medio de largo, que forma parte del sistema digestivo. Consta de varias partes llamadas ciego (con su apéndice vermiforme); colon, en donde ponemos diferenciar colon ascendente, transverso, descendente y sigmoide; recto y ano. Sus paredes están cubiertas por un epitelio simple cilíndrico, que no presenta pliegues ni vellosidades y, que forma numerosas glándulas mucosas tubulares llamadas criptas de Lierberkühn, en donde encontramos enterocitos, células caliciformes y células enteroendocrinas. Esto le confiere la capacidad de reabsorber agua y electrolitos del proceso digestivo y de secretar moco para favorecer el tránsito de los desechos semisólidos no digeridos. Múltiples son las patologías que nos podemos encontrar en el intestino grueso, pero nos hemos centrado en las Enfermedades Inflamatorias Intestinales (EII), como son la Enfermedad de Crohn, la Colitis Ulcerosa y las Colitis Indeterminadas. Comentamos el impacto emocional que las EII tienen en el paciente, así como, la importancia del papel de la enfermería en el manejo y afrontamiento de la enfermedad y su adhesión al tratamiento. En las últimas cinco décadas, la profesión de Enfermería en España ha sufrido una notable trasformación, gracias al progreso de la disciplina en el marco universitario, que también se ha visto reflejado en la praxis profesional. La implantación de los nuevos estudios de Grado y la posibilidad de alcanzar el pleno desarrollo académico, nos sitúan en un camino ilusionante ya que por primera vez en la historia, estamos en disposición de ahondar en nuestro propio cuerpo de conocimiento y asentar el rol autónomo. Sin embargo, somos conscientes de que aún existen algunas cuestiones ligadas a una cultura del pasado fuertemente arraigadas, que siguen suponiendo un lastre en el avance efectivo hacia la independencia profesional. Estas observaciones justifican la elaboración de este trabajo, cuyo objetivo es analizar el rol autónomo de la Enfermería mediante dos enfoques. En el primero, se ha llevado a cabo una revisión bibliográfica en publicaciones tanto en español como en inglés, en los últimos cinco años, y en el segundo, una reflexión personal centrada en la correlación existente entre la parte teórica impartida en la Escuela y las prácticas clínicas desarrolladas en los distintos Practicum de la formación de Grado. El riesgo de la asistencia sanitaria en general, especialmente motivada por los errores en la medicación, es un grave problema que conlleva gran repercusión asistencial, económica y humana, que está siendo abordado prioritariamente por las Administraciones Sanitarias de todos los países desarrollados. En este sentido los gestores de riesgo están adoptando actitudes más preventivas y anticipativas en este particular campo que necesitan de la colaboración de todos los profesionales sanitarios. La seguridad clínica es un componente esencial de la calidad asistencial, habida cuenta de la complejidad tanto de la práctica clínica como de su organización. Una práctica clínica segura exige tres grandes objetivos: identificar procedimientos diagnósticos y terapéuticos seguros y eficaces, asegurar que se aplican a quien los necesita y realizarlos correctamente y sin errores. El personal de enfermería representa el componente más amplio en el equipo de salud y se encuentra en íntima y directa relación con la administración de medicamentos por lo que las intervenciones enfermeras derivadas de la misma y las vigilancias posteriores de valoración, evaluación y la monitorización de los pacientes son un mecanismo muy importante en la detección de los errores clínicos subsiguientes y la prevención de eventos adversos. Con esta monografía se pretende concienciar de la existencia del error en la medicación (EM) y de la importancia de definir estrategias efectivas para evitar o minimizar los efectos del mismo en las personas receptoras de nuestros cuidados enfermeros. Metodología: Estudio de carácter descriptivo llevado a cabo mediante una revisión bibliográfica exhaustiva que abarca el periodo establecido entre los años 2000-2010, ampliándose este espacio en dos excepciones justificadas, para ello se han utilizado distintas fuentes de información, tanto primarias como secundarias. La búsqueda bibliográfica se estableció en cinco fases, a través de las cuales se consultaron cinco bases de datos, dos catálogos bibliotecarios y seis revistas de enfermería española con alto factor de impacto. Asimismo, se establecieron indicadores bibliométricos para realizar un posterior análisis de los artículos. Resultados y discusión: Es importante señalar la gran cantidad de bibliografía existente vinculada con el tema, ya que el total de números de revistas analizados ha sido de 638, de los cuales se han seleccionado para el estudio 82 artículos, además de una serie de publicaciones relacionadas con la materia de este trabajo. A través del análisis del contexto social, legal y formativo de la bibliografía se evidencia el cambio producido en el rol enfermero modificando su orientación hacia la administración de cuidados integrales al individuo, ampliando sus funciones al ámbito asistencial, docente, de gestión e investigador y empleando una metodología científica basada en los conocimientos de la propia disciplina. Sin embargo, se refleja que no se ha conseguido un desarrollo efectivo del rol profesional y estas modificaciones son más visibles en el plano docente que en el asistencial. Conclusiones: Se ha demostrado que el rol enfermero ha sufrido cambios significativos desde la puesta en marcha de los estudios universitarios aunque no ha logrado la consistencia deseada con el desarrollo de su formación. Es imprescindible reflexionar en profundidad a cerca de los motivos que prolongan esta situación y adoptar las medidas necesarias para asumir plenamente el rol autónomo. Grado en Enfermería

Fazem, ainda, uma abordagem dos programas assistenciais e suas relações com a atuação do enfermeiro no controle da infecção hospitalar. The authors describe the problem of hospital infections and the nurse's role in their control. They emphasize the nurse's activities concerning the planning and developing of a program to prevent and control such infections. Caring program and their association with the nurse's role to control the hospital infections are also pointed out.

Objectives The purpose of this study was to examine the role of the nurse with families of critically ill patients as perceived by family members and whether meeting family expectations impact family satisfaction. Methods A descriptive design was conducted with 29 family members from a 19-bed intensive care unit. Nonparametric statistics, known for their appropriateness for small samples, were used to examine the research questions. Results Overall, the expectations that family members held regarding nurses’ roles with families were not different from their perceptions of what nurses actually did (P = .087). Family members were more satisfied with care when nurses’ performance either met or exceeded their expectations (P = .046). Conclusion Nurses did well with regard to meeting family members’ expectations. Variations in expectations among family members reflect their diversity and highlight the importance of assessing family needs on a case-by-case basis.

El joc es converteix en un problema de salut quan la persona perd el control de la seva conducta, anteposant-ho a les seves obligacions socials i familiars. Diversos estudis sobre el joc demostren que és una conducta iniciada en l'adolescència. La prevenció en salut es mostra fonamental en aquesta etapa del desenvolupament del jove, moment en el qual s'estableixen patrons de conducta. El propòsit d'aquest treball és realitzar un programa de prevenció orientat a evitar el joc patològic en adolescents. Els seus objectius són: Prevenir conductes que deriven en joc patològic per a adolescents; reduir o limitar les hores de joc, fomentant conductes i activitats alternatives; i fomentar la integració i participació del jove al programa com a mitjà d'assimilació dels conceptes exposats i mantenir la seva atenció en el curs del programa. Aquest programa es basa en el model Precedeix i en la teoria Cognitiu-Social de Bandura. Està dirigit a joves de tots dos sexes, escolaritzats a Terrassa, d'entre 15 i 17 anys. Les variables d'interès són edat, sexe; edat, professió i situació social dels seus pares; entorn social, accés a internet. No es considerarà si el jove ha tingut problemes similars precedents. Constarà de sis sessions de 1h. en les quals s'explicaran les conseqüències del joc patològic i la forma d'adquisició d'aquesta conducta, la relació conductual del jove entorn del joc, els factors de risc i protecció que envolten al joc, i es fomentarà l'autoconcienciación del jove referent a la seva conducta, tenint també en compte el seu entorn social. Es realitzarà una sessió final evaluativa d'anàlisi de funcionament i avaluació del programa tant per part del jove com del ponent. Els resultats esperats de la implementació del programa són: Un millor control i coneixement del joc, reducció del temps de joc i el reconeixement de patrons de conducta inadequats per part del jove. Diversos estudios sobre el juego demuestran que es una conducta iniciada en la adolescencia. La prevención en salud se muestra fundamental en esta etapa del desarrollo del joven, momento en el que se establecen patrones de conducta. El propósito de este trabajo es realizar un programa de prevención orientado a evitar el juego patológico en adolescentes. Sus objetivos son: Prevenir conductas que derivan en juego patológico para adolescentes; reducir o limitar las horas de juego, fomentando conductas y actividades alternativas; y fomentar la integración y participación del joven en el programa como medio de asimilación de los conceptos expuestos y mantener su atención en el curso del programa. Este programa se basa en el modelo Precede y en la teoría Cognitivo-Social de Bandura. Está dirigido a jóvenes de ambos sexos, escolarizados en Terrassa, de entre 15 y 17 años. Las variables de interés son edad, sexo; edad, profesión y situación social de sus padres; entorno social, acceso a internet. No se considerará si el joven ha tenido problemas similares precedentes. Constará de seis sesiones de 1h. en las que se explicarán las consecuencias del juego patológico y la forma de adquisición de esta conducta, la relación conductual del joven entorno al juego, los factores de riesgo y protección que rodean al juego, y se fomentará la autoconcienciación del joven al respecto de su conducta, teniendo también en cuenta su entorno social. Se realizará una sesión final evaluativa de análisis de funcionamiento y evaluación del programa tanto por parte del joven como del ponente. Los resultados esperados de la implementación del programa son: Un mejor control y conocimiento del juego, reducción del tiempo de juego y el reconocimiento de patrones de conducta inadecuados por parte del joven.
