The basic characteristic and comparison of the community-led local development tools: Local Agenda 21, used in public administration generally, and of the LEADER method, used within Local Action Groups (LAGs), is presented in this paper. It analyses their application in the Czech Republic. It discusses the potential synergistic effects of the application of these tools in two rural locations - the areas of two towns (Chrudim and Litomerice), which are leaders in the application of Local Agenda 21 in the Czech Republic. Both towns are members of LAGs - LAG Chrudimsko and LAG Ceske Stredohori. This combination of Local Agenda 21 and LEADER method are mutually supportive. The conclusion discusses recommendations for the improvement of community-led development. V tomto příspěvku je uvedena základní charakteristika a srovnání nástrojů komunitně vedeného místního rozvoje: Místní Agenda 21, používané ve veřejné správě obecně, a metody LEADER, používané v rámci Místních akčních skupin (MAS). Analyzuje jejich aplikaci v České republice. Pojednává o potenciálních synergických efektech aplikace těchto nástrojů ve dvou venkovských lokalitách - oblastech dvou měst (Chrudim a Litoměřice), které jsou lídry v aplikaci Místní Agendy 21 v ČR. Obě města jsou členy MAS - MAS Chrudimsko a MAS České Středohoří. Tato kombinace místní Agendy 21 a metody LEADER přináší vzájemnou podporu. Závěr pojednává o doporučeních pro zlepšení komunitně vedeného rozvoje.

Pozadí výzkumu: Voda je vzácný přírodní zdroj nezbytný pro život a také mnoho ekonomických aktivit. Nedostatek pitné vody je problémem, který je řešen na národní i mezinárodní úrovni. Celosvětová poptávka po vodě stále roste, ale množství a kvalita vodních zdrojů v mnoha regionech klesá. Nedávné průzkumy populace České republiky ukazují, že nejzávažnějšími globálními problémy jsou akumulace odpadu, znečištění vody, nedostatek pitné vody a znečištění ovzduší. Průměrné teploty v Evropě stále rostou v důsledku změny klimatu a očekává se, že v mnoha oblastech bude voda stále vzácnější. Přiměřená dodávka kvalitní vody je předpokladem hospodářského a sociálního rozvoje, a proto je třeba se naučit šetřit vodou a lépe spravovat dostupné zdroje v této oblasti. Účel článku: Účelem této studie bylo zjistit, do jaké míry byly v České republice od roku 2014 do roku 2018 hodnoceny environmentální problémy - zejména problém nedostatku pitné vody - a zda motivace strachu z nedostatku pitné vody. ochrana vody. Metody: Byla provedena regionální analýza dostupnosti vody v České republice a možných příčin nedostatku vody. Scarcity of drinking water is a problem that is ad-dressed at national and international levels. Global water demand continues to rise, but the quantity and quality of water resources is declining in many regions. Recent surveys of the population of the Czech Republic show that the most serious global problems are waste accumulation, water pollution, lack of drinking water and air pollution. Average temperatures continue to rise across Europe due to climate change and water is expected to become increasingly scarce in many areas. An adequate supply of good-quality water is a pre-requisite for economic and social development, and thus it is necessary to learn to save water and better manage our available resources in this area. Purpose of the article: The purpose of this study was to investigate to what degree environmental problems - especially the issue of drinking water scarcity - have been evaluated in the Czech Republic from 2014 to 2018 and whether the fear of a lack of drinking water has motivated water conservation. Methods: A regional analysis of water availability in the Czech Republic and the possible causes of water scarcity has been carried out. Subsequently, selected socio-economic factors that could have an impact on the assessment of drinking water scarcity are analyzed using Gamma and Kendall's Tau and logistic regression. The analyzed time period is from 2014 to 2018. Microdata was taken from the Centre for Research of Public Opinion, and selected regional-level statistics from the Czech Statistical Office have been added to this data to supplement it. Findings & Value added: The perception of drinking water shortages is not only influenced by indicators representing the volume and price of water in each region, but can also be determined by other socio-economic factors such as income, gender, age and education.

The paper is focused on the area of introducing new technologies and the consequent impact on a more efficient functioning of a company, with an emphasis on reducing labour costs. A case study has been created for a company that replaced its employees with technology to reduce the dependence of its performance on the staff. Our aim was to quantify the impact of this managerial decision on the company,as well as to quantify the negative impact on the state budget. With this decision, the company will not only reduce its dependence on its staff, but also its labour costs by 88.14% while the performance will remain the same. It can be assumed that this will also have a significant impact on the sustainability of public finances,as the state will suffer a loss of income in the case of personal income tax as well as social/health insurance; the mandatory expenditure may also increase, such as in the case of paying social benefits to the unemployed. In view of the sustainability of public finances, the paper proposes recommendations that could address this negative impact.

Wellbeing is a popular key term in professional and non-professional literature. Due to the widespread use of this term, it is possible to find different approaches to evaluating the level of wellbeing employees in an organization. The reason is also the frequent connection of wellbeing with job satisfaction or employee performance. Although experts do not always agree on the impact of specific human resource management approaches on employee wellbeing, there are many practical approaches to influencing wellbeing. The problem, however, is to determine the level of well-being workers themselves, as well as the different views of managers and employees themselves. Using a questionnaire survey in the organizational environment in the Czech Republic, the approach to wellbeing according to managers and employees was examined. Subsequently, the survey serves to clarify the differences in the perceived level of wellbeing according to the relevant groups.

During the 20th century, population growth and changes in the business environment also led to a change in mobility requirements. Gradually, there was an increase in transport performance in the area of passenger and freight transport. These trends are also characteristic of the 21st century, when it is also possible to talk about the fundamental development of modern information and communication technologies. The sustainable and green city logistics deals with all transport (passenger and freight) and includes material and goods flows and movements of people inside and outside the city and agglomeration with respect to the sustainability pillars. This article deals with the possibilities of supplying Lidl Česká republika v.o.s. (hereinafter Lidl) stores in Prague agglomeration from the planned logistic centre in Buštěhrad. Two scenarios are tested in terms of total carbon dioxide emissions produced: standard way of distributing goods to stores (scenario A) and sustainable and green way of distributing goods to stores (scenario B). The scientific methods and approaches are used in this article, there are: scenario analysis, vehicle routing problem with pickup and delivery with time windows and carbon dioxide emissions calculation approaches. Během 20. století vedl populační růst a změny v podnikatelském prostředí také ke změně požadavků na mobilitu. Postupně došlo k nárůstu přepravních výkonů v oblasti osobní a nákladní dopravy. Tyto trendy jsou charakteristické i pro 21. století, kdy je možné hovořit také o zásadním vývoji moderních informačních a komunikačních technologií. Udržitelná a zelená městská logistika se zabývá veškerou dopravou (osobní i nákladní) a zahrnuje toky materiálu a zboží a pohyby lidí uvnitř i vně města a aglomerace s ohledem na pilíře udržitelnosti. Tento článek se zabývá možnostmi zásobování společnosti Lidl Česká republika v.o.s. (dále jen Lidl), který obchoduje v pražské aglomeraci, z plánovaného logistického centra v Buštěhradě. Testovány jsou dva scénáře z hlediska celkových vyprodukovaných emisí oxidu uhličitého: standardní způsob distribuce zboží do obchodů (scénář A) a udržitelný a zelený způsob distribuce zboží do obchodů (scénář B). V tomto článku jsou použity následující vědecké metody a přístupy: analýza scénářů, problém okružních jízd se současným svozem a rozvozem a časovými okny a přístupy k výpočtu emisí oxidu uhličitého.

Teoretická štúdia vychádza z toho, že súčasnou výzvou pre subjekty v ekonomike sa stala udržateľnosť. Medzi kroky vedúce k transformácii ekonomickej teórie a následne k transformácii ekonomiky na udržateľnú, patrí vývoj nových trendov v ekonomickom myslení a rovnako aj nových iniciatív v ekonomike v znamení udržateľnosti. Na ich vzniku a rozvoji sa podieľajú ekogramotné subjekty. V štúdii je poodhalený teoretický rámec pre ekogramotnosť a zdôraznený jej význam pre udržateľnosť a rozvoj nových trendov ekonomického myslenia i ekonomických iniciatív v znamení udržateľnosti. Ekogramotnosť je prezentovaná ako nová vízia reality, ale aj ako atribút alebo kompetencia, ktorá je založená na porozumení skutočnej hodnoty prírodných entít a životného prostredia. Predpokladá vedomé úsilie subjektov v ekonomike minimalizovať negatívne účinky, ktoré sprevádzajú rozvoj ekonomiky, na prírodu a životné prostredie. Vzhľadom na prípravu budúcich odborníkov pre oblasť ekonomiky je zdôraznená ekogramotnosť ako dôležitý nástroj vzdelávania pre udržateľný rozvoj. Aj rozvoj nových trendov ekonomického myslenia a iniciatív v znamení udržateľnosti sa realizuje vďaka ekogramotným subjektom, a tak vzdelávanie zamerané na ekogramotnosť je vyzdvihnuté najmä v tých vzdelávacích inštitúciách, ktoré pripravujú odborníkov pre ekonomickú sféru.

Trvalá udržitelnost je velmi diskutovaným tématem po celém světě, souvisí nejen s množstvím odpadů a emisí spotřebovaných a vytvořených při výrobě stavebních materiálů, ale i s životností konstrukcí. Pro stavební konstrukce většinou platí, že pokud se podaří zachytit poruchu na počátku jejího vzniku, jsou náklady na její odstranění daleko nižší než po letech nekontrolované degradace. Lokalizovat poruchu včas, často znamená, detekovat ji dříve, než je viditelná pouhým okem. Klíčovým prostředkem ke zjištění skrytých defektů by mohly být metody nedestruktivního testování. Cílem příspěvku je tedy ověřit možnosti využití elektroakustických metod pro diagnostiku poruch železobetonu, a současně je cílem vyšetřování jádrových vývrtů odebraných z konstrukce dle nového vydání normy ČSN EN 13791. Sustainability is a much discussed topic around the world, related not only to the amount of waste and emissions consumed and generated in the production of building materials, but also to the life of structures. For building structures, it is usually true that if a fault can be detected at the beginning of its occurrence, the cost of its removal is much lower than after years of uncontrolled degradation. Locating a fault in time often means detecting it before it is visible to the naked eye. Non-destructive testing methods could be a key means of detecting hidden defects. The aim of the paper is to verify the possibilities of using electroacoustic methods for diagnostics failures of reinforced concrete, and at the same time the goal is to investigate core boreholes taken from the structure according to the new edition of the ČSN EN 13791 standard.

Model Code 2020 with the focus to sustainability stated to be one of main aspiration goals, which will have implications for subsidiary performance requirements critical to structural design, integrate life cycle perspective, reliability and performance based concepts and end-of-service-life issues. Evidently the combined impact of the service life and relevant safety level of structures on the economical and environmental aspects desire full consideration of engineers and stakeholders. Consideration is also given to energy and raw material costs, as well as to environmental impact throughout the life cycle – e.g. due to emissions. Does it pay to be green? This question is by no means new or surprising; but what is really puzzling is that dedicated research efforts have failed to provide consistent evidence on this issue. Therefore, the ‘business case’ for sustainability is controversial, despite the fact that companies are more and more under pressure to standardize and expand their voluntary ethical practices. The research design serves the purpose of answering some of these questions: 77 large industrial European companies were included in a highly-relevant new dataset, containing aggregated greenhouse gas emission figures, as well as universally-accepted financial performance indicators. On these balanced panel data we conducted several types of analyses, tailored to capture the sign and strength of the relationship between environmental and financial performance. We also introduced an innovative measure of responsible governance, as an interaction term between board-level innovations and the level of independent assurance. Our results are mixed, largely dependent on different model specifications and the several procedures to obtain robust standard errors. As expected, there is no definitive conclusion on the aforementioned relationship. Responsible governance seems to have an insignificant contribution to real sustainability performance, as well as to the economic welfare of the firm. Overall, we support the results to be found in the prior literature, in that CSR attributes – here including emission reduction efforts – will bear higher costs, but also higher revenues, resulting in a neutral relationship between CSR activity and firm financial performance. Owing to the uniqueness of the database in use and to the complexity of the econometric analysis, our findings are another proof of the controversy surrounding the relationship between firm financial and environmental performance.

This paper investigates the influence of research and development (R&D) cooperation on the creation of spillover effects for sustainable firms in the chemical industry. We explore the evidence for the origin of knowledge spillovers derived from cooperation amongst firms and universities and R&D organizations as well as to test the influence of internal/external financial support on these effects. The results confirm that when firms acquire knowledge from internal sources, this leads to increased innovation and sustainable performance. We have proved that internal expenditure results in increased internal knowledge spillovers. These findings may be specific for Central and Eastern (CEE) transition countries, indicating their efforts to build path-dependent structures based on knowledge institutions and businesses as well as knowledge networks. However, this study also provides a more “global” contribution to the knowledge spillover effect theory. It shows that a firm’s cooperation both with universities and with other firms promotes different types of knowledge spillovers and can affect diverse modes of sustainable activities in innovation. Tento článek zkoumá vliv spolupráce výzkumu a vývoje (R & D) na vytváření efektů přelévání pro firmy v chemickém průmyslu. Zkoumáme důkazy o původu šíření znalostí odvozené ze spolupráce mezi firmami a univerzitami a výzkumnými a vývojovými organizacemi, jakož i o testujeme vliv interní, resp. externí finanční podpory na tyto efekty. Výsledky potvrzují, že pokud firmy získávají znalosti z vnitřních zdrojů, vede to ke zvýšení tvorby inovací a udržitelného výkonu. Dokázali jsme, že vnitřní výdaje vedou ke zvýšení generování interních znalostí. Tato zjištění mohou být specifická pro střední a východní země střední a východní Evropy (CEE) a uvádějí jejich úsilí o vybudování struktur závislých na cestách založených na znalostních institucích a firmách a znalostních sítích. Tato studie však také poskytuje "globální" příspěvek k teorii efektu šíření znalostí. Ukazuje se, že spolupráce firmy s univerzitami i s jinými firmami podporuje různé druhy šíření znalostí a může ovlivnit různé způsoby udržitelných aktivit v oblasti inovací.

Nové přístupy k městskému urbanismu a úsilí o zachování industriálních areálů jsou založeny na konceptu komplexity a obyvatelnosti prostředí. Tyto přístupy kromě vlivu designu a struktury na život těchto oblastí objevují také ve zcela novém kontextu možnosti místních komunit a vytvářejí prostor pro jejich další vývoj více udržitelným způsobem. Výzkum je orientován na podporu nového využití a ochrany industriálního dědictví, jsou vybrány příklady adaptací průmyslového dědictví v Plzeňském regionu a hodnocen jejich potenciál pro další kreativní využití. Many aspects of urban design and new approaches to preserving industrial sites are based on the concept of liveability. These approaches recognise that design and structure can be very influential in the life of these areas but they also create novel contexts for a local community to develop in a more sustainable way. The purpose of this contribution is to highlight opportunities in the field of adaptive reuse of industrial heritage, examples of adaptive reuses of industrial architecture in Plzen and their potentials for the future development as creative incubators are discussed.

The paper focuses on sustainable housing development (physical structures) and sustainable housing (the activities and social ties related to living in buildings). Although developed societies perceive help in ensuring decent housing as their obvious duty, there are currently up to 3 million people in Europe alone who lack such housing. The offer of quality affordable housing is still insufficient.
