CULTURE ,MYTHOLOGY ,BENGALI language ,AESTHETICS - Abstract
Both history and myth are perceptive creations of human imagination. History often retains the source of mythological narratives. Similarly, the narratives of myth represent history, tradition, culture and, of course, the knowledge of a particular language, region, and country; therefore, akin to history, myth can be considered a source of knowledge as well as a systematic form of art- narrative technique and an essential element in the formulation of native knowledge system. Jibanananda Das, in his writings, rewrites regional history and myths that show the cultural affinities and cognizant values of Bengal and India in general. With this perception, based on historical and mythological significance, representing identical values, Das's poems "I have Seen the Face of Bengal" (1934), "The Chariot of History" (1946), and "Banalata Sen" (1935) are the most authentic manifestation of mythological as well as historical values of Bengali people. At the same time, Das's prose fiction and mythological references provide precise historical documentation, such as Sutirtha (1948), representing the contemporary Partition crisis. The quintessential mythological narratives in each poem of Das and the references to the contemporary historical contexts in his prose fiction provide readers with magnificent sources of knowledge and perspectives to internalise the self-history narrative, culture, and tradition (of Bengal). This research paper aims to study Das's re-interpretation of history and myth in his selected poems and a novel, adding a new path to look into the existing mythological sense and historical discourse in academia. The study also intends to explore Das's re-interpretation of history and myth as a distinctive literary technique. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

HISTORICAL analysis ,CULTURE ,AFRICAN history - Abstract
This paper reviews the author’s evolving research experience in Asante from the late 1960s to the present. It situates and discusses his ever deepening involvement with Asante individuals over the intervening decades, and traces the ways in which some of these interlocutors played a vital role in expanding his knowledge of Asante history and culture. The argument is made that sustained personal interaction over time with both place and people is the fundamental key to the recuperation and understanding of the Asante past, and indeed of African history more generally. It is further argued that current academic conditions, and notably the lack of research time and funding, militate against the kind of deep investigation described in this autobiographical paper. One consequence is that research into and publishing on Africa’s past sometimes now tends towards the superficial, with the publication of work that is short on new information and its analysis in specifically historical and cultural terms, and long on “theorizing” about and “positioning” within the present concerns of the academy and its personnel. - Abstract
The issue of collective memory, which is an integral component of modern memory studies, is considered in the paper. Memory, as the author notes, is a way for people to construct their past, which belongs to history. The concept of "collective memory", proposed by the French historian and sociologist Maurice Halbwachs at the beginning of the last century, opened the prospect of overcoming the absolutization of psychologism in historical research, and also defines the scientific sense of the meaning of collective historical trauma. The ideas of the French scientist regarding the presence of memory in the oral tradition and methods of analyzing forms of oral communication are studied. The sense of using the concept of "frame", which is a combination of spatio-temporal and social representations mediated by place, form, name, reasoning, and language, is revealed. In this context, the main idea of the scientist is the assertion that memories of the past are determined by social frameworks. The variability and transformation of social frameworks in connection with the entry of a person into many groups is emphasized in the paper. Group memory is the memory of people who live now and can discuss memories of their past. Examining Christianity as an example showed how gradually the collective memory of a group of believers, which coincided with the collective memory of society as a whole, was completely transformed under the influence of new and the latest social challenges. The role of tradition in the historical process is considered in the context of collective memory. Therefore, the paper suggests that society is able to act productively if its institutions rely on collective ideas and collective memory. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

In recent past, the Subaltern Studies have been emerged as an interesting subject on the horizon of historical knowledge. This research paper, too, is focused on the subaltern history and culture of a Pakistani ethnic tribe known as Marts. Majority of the Marwats' population is rural having an enriched intangible heritage of indigenous histories and cultures. This heritage is fading along with the death of older indigenous generations and their younger generations are not only ignorant of it but also less interested in it. They consider it as a backward and useless discourse of history. They feel shy of it whenever they come across it incidentally, despite the fact that their present is deeply rooted within their past. Hence, this research paper is an attempt to preserve the history and culture of Marwat tribe in the pages of history as precisely as possible for the forthcoming generations of Pakistan. Fashion revolves in circle, reflecting historical, cultural, political, economical and social life of a nation as noted by Ogunduyile. It hence, satisfies the apparel accessory wants and needs of the people at a given period of time, thereby reflecting man's environment, and stands as a means of non-verbal communication in revealing the culture and history of a people. Thus, it is innovative and reflects popular values of the society and changes when such values change. However, Nigeria as a country is not an exception to this norm. Although, desirable and inevitable the Nigeria modern fashion may be, the pace and degree of changes in contemporary Nigeria fashion necessitated by the influx of foreign cultures has continued to put traditional Nigerian hand-woven fabrics such as Akwa-Ocha, Aso-Oke, and Akwete among others in an adverse situation since designers use less of these fabrics for modern dress styles. The paper discusses Modern Nigerian Fashion as it has kept revolving and changing since the 1960s till date. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

This paper aims to define the way Egyptians perceived the boundaries of their land and reassesses the impact of Egyptian colonialism during the Ramesside period (c. 1292–1069 BCE). During this era, expansive wars, diplomatic action and land administration/governance reforms led Egypt to control a large part of modern Israel, Palestine, Lebanon and Syria. To refer to this period, historians often use the terms Egyptian "empire" and Egyptian "imperialism", extending terminology coined in the 19th century to describe modern cases of political dominance to Late Bronze Age Egypt. Furthermore, traditional scholarship also presents Egypt's borders in such a way that Egypt appears as a solid territory with fixed borders, despite evidence pointing to a different model of geographical division. Seeking to explore whether the use of modern terms on ancient Egypt may be an anachronism, this paper reviews the scholarship on (a) Egyptian records documenting conquests and (b) contextual archaeological evidence from the southern Near East itself. This review highlights differences between modern and ancient conceptions of land domination. Finally, Egyptian border-related terms are used in a strictly local symbolic cultural context but not in the one of international diplomacy. As for Egypt's boundary, it was mostly formed as a buffer zone rather than a borderline. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

The purpose of this paper is to investigate the link between culture, history, government policies and the development of economic institutions. Specifically, the paper discusses the impact that history and culture, including the influence of Confucianism, have played in shaping the economic institutions of South Korea and the People's Republic of China. Research results indicate that culture, history and government policies all played a role in shaping the organizational structure of these two East Asian nations. However, China's economic landscape is dominated by small and medium-sized, family-oriented firms, particularly in the rural parts of the country. The South Korean economic landscape, on the other hand, is dominated by large conglomerate firms called Chaebols which are also dominated by one family. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

This paper explores students' behavioral, cognitive and emotional engagement with the subject, with a focus on the students' experiences. Findings revealed an enthusiasm and understanding from most students, but particularly refugee students. The culture in the classroom was also studied, showing that there were pockets of antisemitism in its contemporary form present in the classroom, impacting student learning. This paper explores the links between these findings, the implications and suggestions of what this means for current practice. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Purpose: Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander People with a disability continue to experience barriers to service engagement such as mistrust of government services, lack of culturally appropriate support, marginalisation and disempowerment. This meta-synthesis reviews current literature regarding these experiences to explain why services are underutilised. Methods: The meta-synthesis was conducted using a meta-ethnographic approach to synthesise existing studies into new interpretive knowledge. The approach was supported by a search using the Preferred Reporting Items for Systematic Reviews and Meta-Analyses (PRISMA). Results: Ten original research papers utilising a qualitative methodology were extracted. Synthesis of the articles revealed four concepts that were developed into a conceptual model. These include:1) History Matters; 2) Cultural Understanding of Disability Care; 3) Limitations to Current Service Provision; and 4) Delivery of Effective Services. Conclusions: Disability services do not adequately consider the cultural needs of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander People or communicate in a culturally appropriate manner. There are expectations that Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander People acknowledge their disability in alignment with western definitions of disability in order to access services. More work is needed to align disability services with culturally appropriate support to provide better health outcomes. Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people with a disability continue to experience barriers to service engagement which must be addressed. An essential gap that must be filled in providing disability services to Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people is the acknowledgment of culture as a resolute influence on all client interactions with providers. A cultural model of disability may better align with the experiences of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people than current medical and social models used in healthcare. Disability services need to align better with culturally appropriate support to provide better health outcomes for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

MAGIC realism (Literature) ,MODERN literature ,CHINESE people ,NARRATION ,READING interests - Abstract
Abstract Contemporary fiction has incorporated magical realism, which is seen as an aesthetic category with a literary entry into the epistemological insight that governs our outlook. It is the depiction of the real and magical worlds using true incidents, unreducible materials, contrasting ideas of time and space, as well as myths exclusive to a particular cultural group. This study applies Magical Realism Narration Techniques, described by W. B. Faris, to three short stories: i.e., "The Paper Menagerie", "The Literomancer" and "Good Hunting" by Ken Liu. The study examines how these strategies are used by Ken Liu to convey various themes in his short stories. According to research, W.B. Faris' framework for magical realism narration is useful for analyzing the genre. Prejudice and colonialism are common themes in Ken Liu's writing. Moreover, he tries to evoke magic out of cultural elements and traditional characters which provokes reader's interest in the rich culture of Chinese people and develops the stories interest. Summary: World Health Organization defines obesity as abnormal or excess adipose tissue accumulation. Nowadays, this condition is a serious threat to the public health in most countries around the world. Obesity adversely affects physical, mental, and in most cultures, social well‐being. However, throughout the ages—from ancient times to the 21st century—this condition has been subject to various interpretations. As a matter of fact, obesity has not always been regarded as a disease. For many decades, excessive body weight has been considered rather a symbol of health. It was a marker of wealth and prosperity, as well as a sign of high social status. The centuries that passed on the development of science and medicine have gradually changed its face, but significant progress in understanding the causes and consequences of obesity has been made in the last 30 years. This paper presents the historical outline of obesity and its treatment from ancient times to the present—from its affirmation to the epidemic in the late 20th and 21st century. Our research aims to show the influence of the spread of Islamic culture in the Fojnica region during the Ottoman rule in 1463 - 1878 on the urban development and change in the appearance of its settlements, raising its status within the Ottoman state, and on improving the quality and enriching every aspect of life. Individual and local community. The analysis of the Islamic culture of the Fojnica region with all its components, as a whole, is for the first time in historiography unified in this paper. This work contributed to more detailed research of the Fojnica region through Ottoman documents such as defter, regesta, travelogue, etc. The sources for this area have not yet been sufficiently explored. It should be especially noted that we were deprived of details for the 18th century because the Fojnica sigils were burned in the Oriental Institute during the last war in Bosnia and Herzegovina from 1992 to 1995. That is why we used the works of Bosnian-Herzegovinian authors based on sources from the archives in Sarajevo and Istanbul, where there is a large number of unpublished materials. In addition, we also carried out field research on the basis of which we confirm that much of the legacy of Islamic culture from the Ottoman period in the Fojnica region has not been explored. We have stated a part of it in this paper. We hope that this work will encourage further research into the Islamic culture deeply rooted in the Fojnica region.

NATIONALISM ,POSTCOLONIALISM ,FILM festivals - Abstract
It strikes one as quite an amazing coincidence that the year India’s famed blockbuster Lagaan turned twenty, the Indian cricket team re-created a historic Lagaan-moment against Australia at Brisbane. Ashutosh Gowarikar’s Lagaan (2001) which won the Audience Award at the 2001 Locarno Film Festival and had the rare distinction of being nominated in the Best Foreign Film Category for the 2001 Academy Awards, explored a subject that straightaway won over the Indian heart – a heroic anti-colonial revolt enacted on the terrain of that much- loved Indian sport, cricket. Weaving fact with fiction, myth with history, and picturesque song-dance sequences with a gripping theme, the movie went on to become not just a commercial blockbuster but also garnered sincere academic and critical praise from several quarters that appreciated the film for its postcolonial activism, its subaltern politics, and its attempt at re-discovering a forgotten history in the chapter of Indian cricket. What, however, makes for Lagaan’s lasting value in the cultural history of Hindi cinema is, one feels, its attempt at recasting the national past through an inclusive model of nationalism. Set in the princely state of Awadh in the year 1893, the sub-title of the film ‘Once upon a time in India’, clearly indicates a narrative desire to script in public memory an ideal, even if perhaps imagined, pre-colonial past where irrational social divisions were humanely and non-violently conquered and an inclusive community and national culture shaped through mutual need and respect. The proposed paper shall attempt to explore this angle of Lagaan’s engagement with inclusive nationalism, its successes, failures and its unforgettable impact on Indian society and cinema. Comparative law holds the promise of improving knowledge. Looking at other legal systems enables a nuanced understanding of the rules of one's own country. While comparative law traditionally starts with a concrete issue, the purpose of this paper is to explore why concepts of justice often differ widely from country to country. The following article compares three major economic powerhouses: the United States, the People's Republic of China and the Federal Republic of Germany. It will discuss the differences between a liberal and a social market economy, as well as the role of the constitution in society. The outline concludes by looking at the question of when different concepts of justice might converge. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

HUMAN skin color ,AFRICANS ,DECOLONIZATION - Abstract
With the public frenzy over Thabo Mbeki's speech, "I am an African" that was delivered in 1996, South Africa has since become a subject of debate as to who is an African and what constitutes as African. This has been going on for almost two decades and a half now. Mbeki's speech appears to have evoked solemn questions relating to the issues of identity and culture. Subsequent to that speech, the South African public began to question what it meant to be African. The central point of enquiry was: what makes one an African? Is it the color of their skin? Their citizenship? Or is one merely an African because others regard him or her as such? These and many other questions arise when one touches upon the subject of Africans. These perplexing questions, however, are not only unique to the South African context; they apply, to some extent, to the general continent of Africa. With talks and debates about African renaissance, decoloniality, and indigenization, the question of African identity and culture resurfaces. Here, the discussion hubs around the issue of African persona and what it means to be authentically African. By means of document analysis, this paper critically employs a philosophical approach in order to grapple with the subject of identity and culture. This is done through a systematic discussion of the following facets: (a) history, (b) identity, and (c) culture. These three facets are therefore critically engaged in order to establish what constitute an African and what can be characterized as an African identity. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

In this paper we review the impact of DSM-III and its successors on the field of autism—both in terms of clinical work and research. We summarize the events leading up to the inclusion of autism as a "new" official diagnostic category in DSM-III, the subsequent revisions of the DSM, and the impact of the official recognition of autism on research. We discuss the uses of categorical vs. dimensional approaches and the continuing tensions around broad vs. narrow views of autism. This paper explores the relationship between historical research and the field of global mental health. It identifies a gap in the current literature, and argues that an in-depth historical approach is critical for understanding and overcoming current challenges and controversies in global mental health. The authors propose that a thick historical analysis has the capacity to broaden and diversify the discussion about the core concepts in global mental health (such as illness, suffering, care or culture), and to nuance our understanding of the field’s development and impact in specific political and social contexts. The paper analyzes how a systematic historical approach is crucial for understanding colonial and post-colonial power relations embedded in the field of global mental health, and encourages researchers and practitioners to view history as a source of imagination, and of alternative ideas and initiatives in mental health that go beyond existing psychiatric frames of representations, and towards truly radical and egalitarian projects and relations. This exercise in alternative historical imagination does not need to interfere with nor disrupt the urgency of mental health practice today; on the contrary, it is meant to improve the effectiveness of interventions. It can provide practitioners with a new and enriched language to resolve long-standing clinical dilemmas (e.g. related to patient adherence or limited success of certain cultural adaptations), which could not be properly addressed previously

This paper briefly introduces the general attitudes that some of the most prominent Serbian writers formulated about war and trauma, as well as national and supranational self-understanding. In the second part of the paper, on the examples of contemporary novels, the author deals with the circular-evocative paradigm as one of the magistral choices in the literary treatment of the personal and/or collective war traumas. It is based on repetitive recognition of past events and their meanings in the present situations as a kind of collectively understandable, circular identity pattern.

The history and culture of the Caribbean are inextricably linked to landscape. Memories of Caribbean history as a kind of Caribbean consciousness is developed through discourse in which "imagined geographies" deplore a sense of a connect between regional and temporal space, with a sense of the sublimity of the cultures. The context of landscape in Caribbean discourse created an aesthetic that initiated a seamless unity between society, history and culture. The vision of the New World as perpetually tied to historical times is the concern of Derek Walcott and other Caribbean writers. The idea that the landscape has mythical presence, historical associations and elemental connotations which became part of the Caribbean consciousness, and the bases for the definition of the Caribbean man is the idea captured by Derek Walcott, Kamau Brathwaite, etc. Landscape in this work connotes the cultural, psychological and socio-political and historical elements. This affirmative vision of the landscape imbued with history; the sense of that feeling for the land, and a responsiveness to its history can be a meaningful way of rooting oneself, and of acquiring an identity. Derek Walcott comes to terms with this issue of history and memory of the ancestral past in Caribbean historiography. This sense of history in the Caribbean world-view of Walcott's poetic universe emphasizes exploration of the self and landscape, especially in his earliest collection - juvenilia - of 25 Poems (1948). This visionary inquest in Derek Walcott's select poems is what this paper sets to interrogate. This study adopts the Eco-critical theory in the analysis of the studied poems. This theory establishes the relationship between the environment and man and the connect between the socio-cultural in a literary text. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

The history of humanity does not move chaotically and aimlessly, but it has purpose and can define things regardless of what attitude we have, it can be positive or negative. In this matter, religion gives us opportunities for a more realistic approach with a contemporary method of dealing with problems related to culture and civilizations. Precisely, the issue of culture and civilization is presented to us as a very sensitive and relevant topic not only at local but also global levels. Modern man is faced with cultural challenges that constantly accompany him. Concretely, September 11, 2001 was the beginning of a new chapter of the clash of cultural concepts and showed threatening tones for the peace and security of the world. The inter-religious and inter-civilizational dialogue presents the intention and tendencies to overcome the clashing and conflicting paradigms for the establishment of peace in the world. People should communicate with each other and respect each other regardless of their religion. Religion is one of the most powerful, deeply felt and influential forces in human society. It gives life to interpersonal relationships, having an impact in various fields, whether in the family, society, politics and economy. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

This paper surveys some of the challenges facing Serbia in reconstructing elements of its national identity following the break-up of Yugoslavia in the 1990s. Unlike most of the other republics that comprised the federation, Serbia fought to maintain the Yugoslav federation, and so to that extent was the least nationalist of the republics at the beginning of the 1990s. However, as Yugoslavia disintegrated in that decade, Serbia was forced to reconstruct its identity in ways that reflected the unprecedented circumstances it was confronting. This paper explores elements of the ongoing process of Serbia’s identity-reconstruction since the 1990s, focussing on notions of hybridised national identity, the influence of historical tropes, and the tensions between cultural homogeneity and the subversive effects of globalisation on this identity. What emerges from this study is that contemporary Serbian national identity has consequently become a dynamic and evolving construct, and is continually being redefined as it responds to internal tensions and external pressures.

• Introduces the concept of "fossil mentalities" and "fossil imaginaries" as analytical toolkits. • Combines the history of mentalities with the Bourdieusian concept of habitus. • Illustrates the role of mentalities in the historical transition from wood to coal. • Highlights the importance of historical and sociological research on energy transitions • Provides key dimensions for transformations in mentalities for future energy transitions With the concept of "fossil mentalities" and "fossil imaginaries" we introduce an analytical toolkit for historically informed and socially differentiated research on the interactions between pre-fossil, fossil, and post-fossil energy regimes on the one hand and societal patterns of perception, feelings, and action on the other. The paper starts by combining arguments from the history of mentalities and sociological analyzes of relational social structures and habitus to develop a historically informed conception of mentalities and social imaginaries. We then provide a short review of existing literature on the mutual relations and influences of fossil resources and mentalities, focusing on carbon culture and fossil imaginaries. The main section draws together historical literature on the transformation to the widespread use of fossil resources in the 18th to 20th century to analyze the extent to which modern mentalities were based on fossil resources, but conversely also enable the use of fossil resources. Revisiting debates on the societal transformation from pre-fossil, cyclical societies to fossil, extractive societies based on linear flows and the associated shifts in mentalities thus complements previous sociological and historical research on energy transitions. Based on this analysis, we develop a set of key dimensions that are central to research on the relationship between energy transformations and mentalities – including the current transformations towards post-fossil futures. - Abstract
This study adopts STEAM practices integrating architecture, arts, culture, and history into mathematics education in a museum learning environment. A workshop was conducted with five in-service mathematics teachers in an Egyptian museum, utilizing digital technologies such as GeoGebra, Augmented Reality, and 3D Printing to model, visualize and connect the museum collections to their teaching practices. Teachers' modelled artefacts were qualitatively analysed for their artistic, cultural and historical connections. Findings indicate that participants followed the design expected outcomes of these STEAM practices by implementing a transdisciplinary approach towards mathematically modelling the museum objects while connecting to their mathematical, cultural, historical, and artistic relations. Participants' reflections showed positive changes in their attitudes towards considering the museum learning environment for mathematics teaching during the implementation of these STEAM practices. Furthermore, such STEAM practices allowed participants to explore and connect disciplines through interacting with museum collections from artistic, cultural, historical, mathematical, and technological perspectives. The second part of the paper deals with the testimonial-representative paradigm as a choice based on the personal expression of unique experiences of traumatic events as a frame for contemporary concrete understanding and a kind of cathartic solution to identity contradictions. The outcome shows that both paradigms could also be productive in articulating adequate identity politics and/or principle understandings of identity problems only if they consider each other as balancing possibilities.

The research intends to investigate Iran-Pakistan economic and political links since 1947 and the issues/differences that affected the relations between them. Both Pakistan Iran have a long standing historical, cultural and religious ties. Persian literature and language have had a great impact on Sub-Continent's cultural and educational milieu. During the reign of Mohammad Reza Shah, the relations between Pakistan and Iran were friendly but after the Islamic revolution of 1979 Pakistan tilted towards Saudi Arabia for its own interests. The ideological dimensions of foreign policy of both the countries also marred the friendly relations. Iran has some apprehensions that border violations and subversions carried out inside Iran are with the connivance of US. The paper has mainly adopted qualitative methods. The study recommends that Pakistan can increase trade and diplomatic relations with Iran to take advantage of resource rich country. The minor differences between the two countries can also be tackled through trade and diplomacy. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

In this reflexive essay, I raise issues about power dynamics between interviewers and interviewees based on my experiences conducting research interviews in South Korea. I focus on the sociocultural contexts that drive social agents' behaviors in the interview process, which in Korean Confucian contexts include respect for adults and educational fervor. A particular configuration of authority relationships was evident in each scenario, showing how sociocultural contexts underlie the complicated power dynamics of interview situations, which can be further complicated by topics that require participants to share their intellectual notions. Based on my interview experiences, I argue that acknowledging these social contexts and their impacts on power relations will serve to strengthen the depth of engagement in interviews and therefore the quality and potential impact of qualitative interview research. During COVID-19, many museums closed their physical structures and transitioned their exhibits to online platforms for public digital access. As museums reopen, there remains a need for some visitors to attend exhibits and cultural events with minimal risk. This article examines an innovative hybrid platform for museum digital access--personal telerobots to co-explore museums alongside community members. The way it works is as follows: a community member remains at home and remotely logs into the museum robot. A friend/family member is physically at the museum, and once the robot is embodied by the remote user, they can walk around the museum together, talk with each other, interact with artifacts, and experience the exhibits together. Ultimately, the robot user and the visitor can both be immersed in the venue, separate yet together at the same time. This article examines the use of online community events and personal robots in a Mexican-American history, art, and culture museum for cultural exhibits and how these technologies may facilitate the way community members learn, interact, and explore museum artifacts. It also explores the need for best practices on the use of online communities and personal robot technology in museums. This work contributes observations, reflections, and curatorial considerations on both forms of digital media for inclusive museum practices. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

This study aims to investigate the representation of culture in the textbooks of English grade IX and grade X by Punjab Textbook Board (TBB). It also observes the extent to which these books have tried to promote cultural nativization and globalization. For this study, the researchers have used the model by Byram & Morgan (1994). The analysis of the textbooks reveals that the authors have not just focused on Islam and national culture but also on national history and international elements. However, the authors have included the major personalities in the textbooks who are considered as Islamic or national heroes. National culture, personalities, history, geography, and cultural heritage are promoted. International cultures are also given minor focus in a few chapters. The researchers have tried to explain both national and international aspects separately so that readers can compare cultural perspectives from one another to improvise the idea of globalization in the 21st century. The findings show that grade IX textbook focuses on national items and grade X textbook focuses on international items. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
