The article discusses the complexities of implementing the automatic import of Open Access journal articles with a publication grant into institutional repositories, and asks whether publisher dashboards provided to academic institutions as part of contract agreements on the management of incoming verification requests are a useful tool to deal with the issue. SCHOLARLY publishing ,CHINESE people ,AUTHOR-publisher relations ,DRAGONS ,REPUTATION ,EMPLOYEE misconduct - Abstract
One of the most dramatic changes in global publishing in the last decade has been the emergence of China. China now has more researchers than the United States, outspends the United States and European Union in research and publishes more scientific papers each year than any other nation in the world. The quality of these papers is also increasing, with more appearing in top‐ranked journals and gaining more citations overall. Despite this success, China has gained an unenviable reputation for research misconduct and geopolitical issues threaten its continuation. Given the impact of China's growing presence on editors, publishers and non‐Chinese authors seeking to publish in the same journals, it is important to understand the reasons, directions and outcomes of these changes, their effect on Chinese scholars and local Chinese journals, and where they might be leading. In this review paper I explore the rise of Chinese scholarship, its influence on global publishing and on Chinese scholars, and how the Chinese government is responding to its new role in global academic publishing. Introduction: At each stage of the research development cycle for a specific discipline or sub discipline, taking into account the global nature of the knowledge dissemination process and the dynamics of change, researchers ask themselves questions about potential areas of research, the degree of intensity of research conducted so far, leading research centers and scientists in a given research field. Bibliometric is a tool that allows to answer the above questions. The bibliometric analysis allows us to discover the current state of a research field, identify the principal authors, articles, and topics, and propose future research lines to develop it further. Aim of the paper: The aims of the article is to present the results of bibliometric analysis of scientific research on issues of energy cluster, published between 1914 and 2022 in the Web of Science Core Collection and Scopus database. Materials and methods: The articles were analyzed quantitatively, and by word and author co-occurrence. The author also showed in the paper among other things: documents per years by sources, documents by country or territory, the most popular publishers, document types or years with the highest number of published papers on energy clusters. Keywords analysis of bibliometric data indexed in this two databases is the main research method applied to conduct the study. The method of systematic literature review is used to outline the theoretical background of the study. Results and conclusions: This study shows that interest in energy clusters has been growing steadily over the years in many scientific fields. Conducted bibliometric analysis has shown that the greatest interest, where energy clusters gain importance, are scientific articles (almost 80%), in which the Journal of Chemical Physics has a clear advantage. The analysis in the future should be expanded to include additional indicators. Therefore, the presented analysis is preliminary and should be the subject of further research. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

6. Standardizing terminology for text recycling in research writing.

Because research in science, engineering and medical fields advances incrementally, researchers routinely write papers that build directly on their prior work. While each new research article is expected to make a novel contribution, researchers often need to repeat some material—method details, background and so on—from their previous articles, a practice called 'text recycling'. While increasing awareness of text recycling has led to the proliferation of policies, journal editorials and scholarly articles addressing the practice, these documents tend to employ inconsistent terminology—using different terms to name the same key ideas and, even more problematic, using the same terms with different meanings. These inconsistencies make it difficult for readers to know precisely how the ideas or expectations articulated in one document relate to those of others. This paper first clarifies the problems with current terminology, showing how key terms are used inconsistently across publisher policies for authors, guidelines for editors and textbooks on research ethics. It then offers a new taxonomy of text‐recycling practices with terms designed to align with the acceptability of these practices in common research writing and publishing contexts. Background: Proctor and colleagues' 2011 paper proposed a taxonomy of eight implementation outcomes and challenged the field to address a research agenda focused on conceptualization, measurement, and theory building. Ten years later, this paper maps the field's progress in implementation outcomes research. This scoping review describes how each implementation outcome has been studied, research designs and methods used, and the contexts and settings represented in the current literature. We also describe the role of implementation outcomes in relation to implementation strategies and other outcomes. Methods: Arksey and O'Malley's framework for conducting scoping reviews guided our methods. Using forward citation tracing, we identified all literature citing the 2011 paper. We conducted our search in the Web of Science (WOS) database and added citation alerts sent to the first author from the publisher for a 6-month period coinciding with the WOS citation search. This produced 1346 titles and abstracts. Initial abstract screening yielded 480 manuscripts, and full-text review yielded 400 manuscripts that met inclusion criteria (empirical assessment of at least one implementation outcome). Results: Slightly more than half (52.1%) of included manuscripts examined acceptability. Fidelity (39.3%), feasibility (38.6%), adoption (26.5%), and appropriateness (21.8%) were also commonly examined. Penetration (16.0%), sustainability (15.8%), and cost (7.8%) were less frequently examined. Thirty-two manuscripts examined implementation outcomes not included in the original taxonomy. Most studies took place in healthcare (45.8%) or behavioral health (22.5%) organizations. Two-thirds used observational designs. We found little evidence of progress in testing the relationships between implementation strategies and implementation outcomes, leaving us ill-prepared to know how to achieve implementation success. Moreover, few studies tested the impact of implementation outcomes on other important outcome types, such as service systems and improved individual or population health. Conclusions: Our review presents a comprehensive snapshot of the research questions being addressed by existing implementation outcomes literature and reveals the need for rigorous, analytic research and tests of strategies for attaining implementation outcomes in the next 10 years of outcomes research. Authors’ moral rights throughout history have been protected in various degrees across the globe: French law honors authors’ rights to their particular individual creative expression as supreme and perpetual; German law considers an author’s moral rights and economic rights in equal measure; in Australia, moral rights, though only recently codified, are not transferrable as they can be in the UK if waived. While the overarching Berne Convention for the Protection of Literary and Artistic Works promises to protect the personality and reputation of authors, the literary landscape is now more diverse, with crossplatform entertainment streams expanding subsidiary rights opportunities in ways not anticipated even a decade ago. This paper explores how publishers and authors are currently navigating the publishing process post contract negotiations. Do authors defer to having their work manipulated to increase exposure or sales? Are publishers and editors successful negotiators and mediators of multiple uses of creative content and the authors who are inextricably tied to the work? Ultimately, where are the lines drawn when considering moral rights and opportunities in a converged literary landscape?. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

This article provides an overview of the current state of scientific publications in India and globally. It highlights the increase in the number of journals and articles due to specific publication requirements for faculty members, PhD scholars, and dental professionals in India. The article discusses the revenue generation methods for publishers, including subscription fees, article sales, and advertising, and the ongoing debate about their role in improving research quality. It also explores the open access movement, which aims to provide free access to journal articles but requires authors to pay publication fees. The issue of predatory publishers, who exploit the academic publishing system for financial gain, is addressed, along with concerns about the shifting focus from scientists to publishers and journals with commercial interests. The article notes the significant increase in the number of journals worldwide and in India, as well as India's improved ranking in global scientific publications. However, it also raises concerns about the pressure to publish leading to unethical practices such as plagiarism and fake research data. The article suggests reducing the emphasis on publication and exploring alternative methods for assessing researchers and educators. It also highlights the unreliability of the journal impact factor as an indicator of quality and emphasizes the need for awareness about predatory journals and avoiding those that charge excessive fees. MANUSCRIPTS ,AUTHOR-publisher relations ,CUSTOMER satisfaction ,BOOK industry ,CHILDREN'S literature - Abstract
In recent years, customer experience and satisfaction have become more critical than ever before. Companies focus on these two elements to retain and acquire customers in a highly competitive environment. The relationship between authors and publishers has always been complex, with dynamics deeply rooted in the social and cultural environment. At the same time, the success of their collaboration significantly impacts the local creative and sociocultural landscape. It is essential to understand the factors that determine author satisfaction and ease of collaboration, both generally and industry-specific, to support the growth and development of the book sector. This paper analyzes the collaborative dynamics between authors and publishers using the Customer Satisfaction (CSAT) and Customer Effort Score (CES) metrics based on a survey of 133 authors from various literary fields and geographic areas in Romania. The research findings provide insight into the key drivers behind authors' satisfaction and ease of collaboration with publishers. Moreover, we suggest practical recommendations from authors to publishers that can improve their collaborative processes, enhancing positive experiences for authors and potentially improving the overall quality of published works. This study's insights shall benefit authors, publishing houses, various organizations operating in the publishing field, policymakers, and regulatory bodies. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

The article tries to highlight the evolution and conceptual framework of institutional repositories and their impact on the academic and scholarly circles in terms of better visibility, wider audience and earlier communication of research. The characteristics associated with the institutional repositories are also highlighted, which makes them stand out from the crowd in the family of open access scholarly platforms. The study is based on the examination and evaluation of the articles published across various peer-reviewed journals showcasing numerous dimensions of institutional repositories, ranging from their evolution to open scholarly acceptance. A preliminary search on institutional repositories was carried through two well-renowned indexing/abstracting databases of peer-reviewed literature, Clarivate Analytic's, Web of Science and Elsevier's Scopus. Search terms like institutional repositories, institutional research output, open access repositories, green open access, open access, open access publishing, open access initiatives, digital libraries, directory of open access repositories, open DOAR and scholarly communication were run across the databases for article retrieval, and the relevant studies were extracted accordingly. To make the study more comprehensive and current, the studies citing the retrieved articles were also consulted. The study reveals that the benefits associated with institutional repositories are manifold. They recounter users with the information which was otherwise unavailable due to the reasons ranging from the non-availability of supplementary information (like unpublished reports and working papers, multimedia and audiovisual items, learning objects, other special item types, bibliographic references, datasets, lecture notes and so forth) to the paywall/subscription models adopted by commercial channels of scholarly communication. Furthermore, the social, research and technological factors tend to be the main motivating factors for their wider acceptance by the scholarly community at global, national, organizational, and individual levels. They enhance the preservation of institutional research output with increased viewership and prestige apart from achieving a potential research impact. They, in a real sense, have abrogated the unilateral assault orchestrated by the commercial publishers on the author community by democratizing their scholarly voices via open and barrierless scholarly platforms. They are the future of the academic output of an institution/author as they perform successfully within the constitutional boundaries of scholarly and academic publishing, thus safeguarding the rights and claims of every academic actor. Given the importance of institutional repositories for a more democratic, barrierless and impactful information communication, they are for sure going beyond various scholarly circles by breaking the traditional and rigid walls of scholarly endeavours. The study presents a useful overview of the progression of the institutional repositories, their intended purpose and how they serve to fill the gaps in scholarly publishing and meet the needs of the wider academic community. The article summarizes in one place a concise overview of the use and impact of institutional repositories. The study is also an eye-opener for scholars interested in the research in the field of institutional repositories. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

ARTICLE processing charges (Open access publishing) ,AUTHOR-publisher relations ,OPEN access publishing - Abstract
Some open access (OA) publishers charge authors fees to make their articles freely available online. This paper reviews literature on article processing charges (APCs) that has been published since 2000. Despite praise for diamond OA journals, which charge no fees, most OA articles are published by commercial publishers that charge APCs. Publishers fix APCs depending on the reputation assigned to journals by peers. Evidence shows a relationship between high impact metrics and higher, faster rising APCs. Authors express reluctance about APCs, although this varies by discipline depending on previous experience of paying publication fees and the availability of research grants to cover them. Authors rely on a mix of research grants, library funds and personal assets to pay the charges. Two major concerns have been raised in relation to APCs: the inability of poorly funded authors to publish research and their impact on journal quality. Waivers have not solved the first issue. Research shows little extension of waiver use, unintended side effects on co‐author networks and concerns regarding criteria to qualify for them. Bibliometric studies concur that journals that charge APCs have a similar citation impact to journals that rely on other income sources. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Currently, there is no standard for the citation of food composition data. This leads to the questions: how are food and nutrient data cited in research papers, and are they presented in a way that allows studies to be reproduced? To answer these questions, we performed a review of the literature and quantified the accuracy and completeness of data citations from publications (January to December 2020) in the top 5 nutrition journals as ranked by the Scimago Journal Rankings. We then performed a review of citation guidelines currently in place in other disciplines. Similar to the requirement of completing the Preferred Reporting Items for Systematic Reviews and Meta-Analyses checklist for systematic reviews, we have developed a comprehensive data citation checklist, the Comprehensive Food Data Citation (CFDC) checklist. The CFDC checklist was developed through a benchmarking assessment against established data citation standards. Its purpose is to establish a standardized, best-practice approach for reporting food composition data. The CFDC checklist has been designed to cater to both publishers and authors, ensuring consistency and accuracy in food composition data reporting. The CFDC checklist is also available as an interactive citation generator to facilitate the adoption of consistent and comprehensive citation of food composition data and is available at https://www.nutrientinstitute.org/cfdc. Despite general agreement that accurate data citation is paramount, this is the first citation standard specifically developed to capture food composition data. Because food composition data are the foundation of nutrition research, our proposed guidelines aim to provide the field with a much-needed foundation for acknowledging and sharing data in a way that fosters reproducibility. The concept of #ownvoices writing has gained traction in contemporary publishing as both a genre of reader interest and a focus for debates about authors' rights to write cross-culturally. This paper examines tensions the #ownvoices movement reveals between the commissioning, publishing, and critical reception of a book, using debate about Craig Silvey's Honeybee, an Australian novel focalized through a young trans protagonist but written by a straight male author. Drawing on the theory of recognition, it analyzes author and publisher media interviews, social media, and literary reviews in mainstream publications, which are given context through with selected interviews with Australian publishers. Misrepresentation and appropriation are concerns for many readers, while judgements about aesthetic quality vary. Structures within the book industries limit the economic representation of diverse creators which, in turn, has implications for the diversity of experience represented in young adult fiction and its literary quality. With increasing cases of fraud in submission, peer review, and publication processes, some by authors with fake identities and who use concocted emails, including the use of web-based emails, editors and publishers are looking for ways to try and stem the tide of fraud. In some journals, editors and publishers mistakenly believe that this might be possible by implementing a policy that mandates submitting authors to have an institutional email. However, this may be discriminatory at various levels, the most obvious of which is unfairness, i.e., no right to "entry" to a journal based exclusively on the type of email used, even more so when the submitting author is not fake. Such policies might, very ironically, even violate stated journal or publisher policies on discrimination and inclusivity. Editors and publishers that employ such tactics, as a way to attempt to reduce fraudulent submissions, need to rethink this potentially discriminatory strategy. In a publishing world that is becoming increasingly litigious, it would not be surprising if legal action would one day be taken against a journal or publisher by a valid author using a web-based email such as @gmail.com, @yahoo.com, or @163.com, but who may have been unfairly barred entry to that journal based on such a policy. Two real case examples are provided, Tumor Biology, a struggling journal published by IOS Press, and Journal of Business Ethics, a journal published by Springer Nature. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

From the mid nineteenth into the mid twentieth centuries a significant number of British people spent their careers in India administering what was regarded as the most important territory of the British Empire. During this period, an extensive body of literature on Indian wildlife was published both in Britain and in India itself. This paper surveys the authors and the publishers of this literature and suggests that the material was shaped by the differing interests of readers in the two countries. The emergence of a community of enthusiastic naturalists among the British expatriates is contrasted with the promotion of India as an exotic location for readers in Britain itself. The role of hunting narratives in providing information for the study of natural history is explored, along with growing concerns about the need for conservation. The complexity of the relationships between expatriate British naturalists and the local populations is used to throw light on how the situation changed in the decades leading to independence. In conclusion, the publications of the Bombay Natural History Society are used to illustrate these developments [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Pacta sunt servanda is the important Roman principle that "equalises" the binding effects of contracts and law. The right to withdraw loosens the sanctity of the contract, bringing some legal uncertainty to the contractual relationship. The right to withdraw based on the change of ones' mind concerning a transaction is a unilateral act of will, provided both by Albanian Contract Law and the Albanian Law on Author's Rights. This paper will point out the Albanian legal conditions according to which the withdrawal can be rightly exercised, highlighting the differences between the right to withdraw from commercial contracts and the author's moral right to withdraw from copyright contracts. The integration of electronic publishing into effective publication for the purposes of botanical nomenclature in 2012 revolutionized the landscape of resources containing nomenclatural acts and novelties. The ephemeral status of the initial PDFs with or without preliminary pagination, which is replaced by PDFs with continuous pagination, indicates that they are unlikely to be preserved by publishers or authors, and to be available for the purposes of retrospective registration, either bibliographic or nomenclatural. 30.3 considers electronic publication to be effective with a different pagination in online early publication (before inclusion in an issue) than in its later, final form, when the final page numbers have been added. This paper shows how Plan S arises and works, the impact it can have on the subscriptions of the scientific and academic journals of the National Autonomous University of Mexico (UNAM), as well as the first approaches of some publishers who see in this University and Latin America an opportunity to implement this new publication model. The way of publishing has changed due to the use of technologies that have brought with it the emergence of the Open Access (OA) movement derived from the Budapest Open Access initiative proposed by the Open Society Institute in 2001. Plan S is an initiative that arises in 2018 to accelerate the transition to Open Access, which will allow research results to have greater visibility and citation. Plan S includes transformative agreements that can be established between publishers and libraries, since it is intended to change the payment for subscription to journals for the Read and Publish model, where the publisher receives a payment to read and a payment to publish in a single contract, while under the Publish & Read model the editor only receives payment for the publication of articles by authors from an institution and the reading of journals is included at no additional cost, precisely at this point, the library plays a relevant role among the initiative and its academic community. Therefore, we agree that Plan S, the cOAlition S initiative and the transformative agreements are a great support for open access publishing, since they directly lower the costs of the Article Processing Charges (APC) and offer researchers various options for publish their findings or advances. AUTHOR-publisher relations , *ELECTRONIC publications , *ELECTRONIC journals , *FRIENDSHIP , *DECISION making - Abstract
Scientific publications, specifically journal papers, are facing increasing challenges in a number of ways for both authors and publishers, and one of them is the friendliness of the format requirements by different journals even under the same editorial management system of the same publisher. At our most recent editors' meeting of this journal, decision were made and agreed upon for the following three items: 1) requirements on the physical form and style of manuscript will be relaxed immediately on the presentation of Results and Discussion, so that either combined or separation of them into 2 different sections are accepted for further processing; 2) citations of references in text will not be mandatorily to any specific one, so citations using Harvard or Chicago styles will be both acceptable from now on; and 3) a new category of publication will be started for a testing on experimental stage as Fast-track results. With all these new changes, it is hoped that publication will be less time consuming for authors so that precious time can be used in research than formatting or re-formatting the style for a submission. NEW product development ,LITERATURE reviews ,EVIDENCE gaps ,TECHNOLOGICAL innovations ,AUTHOR-publisher relations ,MARKET volatility - Abstract
Purpose: The market's intense competition, the unpredictability of customer demands and technological advancements are compelling organizations to adopt new approaches, such as agile new product development (ANPD), which enables the introduction of new products to the market in a short span. The existing ANPD literature review articles are lacking in portraying recent developments, potential fields of adoption and the significance of ANPD in organizational development. The primary goal of this article is to investigate emerging aspects, current trends and conduct a meta-analysis using a systematic review of 177 ANPD articles published in peer-reviewed journals between 1998 and 2020. Design/methodology/approach: The articles were categorized based on their year of publication, publishers, journals, authors, countries, universities, most cited articles, etc. The authors attempted to identify top journals, authors, most cited articles, enablers, barriers, performance metrics, etc. in the ANPD domain through the presented study. Findings: The major themes of research articles, gaps and future trends are identified to assist academicians and ANPD practitioners. This study will benefit ANPD professionals by providing them with information on available literature and current ANPD trends. Originality/value: Through meta-analysis, this study is one of the unique attempt to categorize ANPD articles to identify research gaps and highlight future research trends. A distinguishing feature of the presented study is the identification of active journals, publishers and authors, as well as enablers, barriers and performance metrics. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
