Summary: As the growing weight stigma literature has developed, one critically relevant and vulnerable population has received little consideration—pregnant and postpartum women. Because weight fluctuations are inherent to this life phase, and rates of prepregnancy overweight and obesity are already high, this gap is problematic. More recently, however, there has been a rising interest in pregnancy‐related weight stigma and its consequences. This paper therefore sought to (a) review the emerging research on pregnancy‐related weight stigma phenomenology and (b) integrate this existing evidence to present a novel theoretical framework for studying pregnancy‐related weight stigma. The Weight gain, Obesity, Maternal‐child Biobehavioral pathways, and Stigma (WOMBS) Framework proposes psychophysiological mechanisms linking pregnancy‐related weight stigmatization to increased risk of weight gain and, in turn, downstream childhood obesity risk. This WOMBS Framework highlights pregnant and postpartum women as a theoretically unique at‐risk population for whom this social stigma engages maternal physiology and transfers obesity risk to the child via social and physiological mechanisms. The WOMBS Framework provides a novel and useful tool to guide the emerging pregnancy‐related weight stigma research and, ultimately, support stigma‐reduction efforts in this critical context. Guthrie and Buchwald (1991) proposed an adhoc procedure for assessing the statistical significance of waveform difference potentials that may arise in a variety of psychophysiology research contexts. In our paper, an alternative method is presented and demonstrated that has fewer underlying assumptions than does the Guthrie-Buchwald test and may, therefore, produce better results in some situations. In particular, the test proposed here (a) is distribution free, (1,) requires no assumption of an underlying correlation structure (e.g., first order autoregressive), (c) requires no estimate of the population autocorrelation coefficient, (d) is exact, (e) produces p values for any number of subjects and time points, and (1) is highly intuitive as well as theoretically justifiable. This procedure may be used to carry out multiple comparisons with exact specification of experiment wise error, however, this test is based on permutation principles and may require large amounts of computer time for its implementation. Some recent papers have been devoted to simultaneous analysis of RT and P300 latency effects with S-R compatibility. This, indeed, can be particularly fruitful since it may provide some insight into response choice, a crucial stage of information processing taking place between stimulus analysis and response production. Apparent contradictions have arisen between these studies because of the different kinds of S-R compatibilities involved. A method for quantifying physiological changes in the pelvis during sexual response is presented. The basis of the system is an anal probe which simultaneously measures changes in blood volume and muscle tension in men and women. An LED-transistor photoplethysmograph and pressure transducer were chosen because their physical and electrical properties avoid several of the vulnerabilities encountered in other techniques for quantifying sexual response. The probe configuration minimizes motion artifact, permits comparison of the same sampling site across sessions and subjects, and quantifies the interaction between blood volume and varying contact pressure. Electrical signals are fed directly to a strip-chart recorder and a dedicated real-time computer system. Automatic analog-to-digital conversion of the original data avoids errors in manual extraction of analog data, maximizes precision in data analysis, and permits digital plotting to simulate higher or lower chart paper speeds.
