The article examines the basic themes around which science fiction stories for children seem to be written in the U.S. This article involves an interplay between two theses. One, which suggests that adult science fiction plays upon those human values and satisfactions which may be closely related to those which motivate practicing scientists. The second thesis and the primary one developed in this paper, suggests that children's science fiction may be similarly related to whatever satisfactions keep young people interested in science.

This article focuses on sociology in the English novel. Any endeavour to set forth in a few pages the sociological significance of the novel must of necessity yield results of a very meagre and imperfect kind. The title chosen for this paper seemed at first glance to fix a reasonable limit to the subject, whereas in point of fact it implies the throwing of a net over the whole field of modern fiction. It features the similarities of technique and also the in content, there are certain similarities that merit academic exercise. The similarities in the two works of literature mentioned befits a comparative stylistic and technical analysis. There are also dissimilarities and contrasts discussed in content and the plot of the two stories.

The present paper is a study of certain literary reflections of social attitudes and practices relevant to divorce in contemporary United States. The fact that love, marriage, divorce, and domestic life in general have long been subjects for extensive treatment by novelists makes this topic worthy of investigation. A comparative analysis is made of 25 divorce novels with specific reference to the congruence of fictional and objective studies of divorce. The previous conception of a divorce novel has been adhered to as one in which important characters have been divorced, obtain a divorce, or go as far as court proceedings even though they fail to obtain a divorce, or a novel which closes with a declared intention to obtain a legal divorce. This conception of a divorce novel eliminates a large number of novels which deal with temporary alienation of spouses, domestic crises, and separations, either legal or informal. It is believed that the specific action or intent to obtain a legal divorce differentiates these novels from others which treat domestic discord.

The article discusses the effect of advertising on the sale of fiction books. The author points out that historically, advertising novels did affect the sales directly, and that in a bulk of cases, non-advertised books from unknown authors have outsold highly publicized books. A study is presented to determine the cause of this phenomenon, using sales and advertising data from the publishers' lists between 1933 and 1938. It was found that it is possible to predict, with good probability, the sale of particular books and early advertising. However, it is impossible to predict the range in which books will sell between 10,000 and 1 million copies.

According to the author, most of the major propositions about science fiction set forth by experts in various fields has nothing really new to say on the subject except poet Rosalie Moore who suggests that science fiction is a revolt against the distrust of fantasy in "mainstream" American prose fiction.
