For the past few years, sweat analysis for health monitoring has attracted increasing attention benefiting from wearable technology. In related research, the sensitive detection of uric acid (UA) in sweat with complex composition based on surface-enhanced Raman spectroscopy (SERS) for the diagnosis of gout is still a significant challenge. Herein, we report a visualized and intelligent wearable sweat platform for SERS detection of UA in sweat. In this wearable platform, the spiral channel consisted of colorimetric paper with Ag nanowires (AgNWs) that could capture sweat for SERS measurement. With the help of photos from a smartphone, the pH value and volume of sweat could be quantified intelligently based on the image recognition technique. To diagnose gout, SERS spectra of human sweat with UA are collected in this wearable intelligent platform and analyzed by artificial intelligence (AI) algorithms. The results indicate that the artificial neural network (ANN) algorithm exhibits good identification of gout with high accuracy at 97%. Our work demonstrates that SERS-AI in a wearable intelligent sweat platform could be a feasible strategy for diagnosis of gout, which expands research on sweat analysis for comfortable and noninvasive health monitoring. Eye health has become a global health concern and attracted broad attention. Over the years, researchers have proposed many state‐of‐the‐art convolutional neural networks (CNNs) to assist ophthalmologists in diagnosing ocular diseases efficiently and precisely. However, most existing methods were dedicated to constructing sophisticated CNNs, inevitably ignoring the trade‐off between performance and model complexity. To alleviate this paradox, this paper proposes a lightweight yet efficient network architecture, mixed‐decomposed convolutional network (MDNet), to recognise ocular diseases. In MDNet, we introduce a novel mixed‐decomposed depthwise convolution method, which takes advantage of depthwise convolution and depthwise dilated convolution operations to capture low‐resolution and high‐resolution patterns by using fewer computations and fewer parameters. We conduct extensive experiments on the clinical anterior segment optical coherence tomography (AS‐OCT), LAG, University of California San Diego, and CIFAR‐100 datasets. The results show our MDNet achieves a better trade‐off between the performance and model complexity than efficient CNNs including MobileNets and MixNets. Specifically, our MDNet outperforms MobileNets by 2.5% of accuracy by using 22% fewer parameters and 30% fewer computations on the AS‐OCT dataset. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

This paper examines the specifics of studying the dynamics of the behavior of the host and the parasitoid in two dynamic systems. The host model HPM is an extension to a 2D system, where an arctan function acts as an activation function. It was chosen because it can be used in artificial neural networks of intelligence. Thus, the modeling process leads to the following representation of the essence of this model: the population dynamics in the main plane occur over discrete time intervals and by several formulae. These equations were originally intended to describe the interaction between the host and the parasitoid. The model took the derivatives of a sigmoid in arctan function to show the slope of a sigmoid in any given pair was done by tangents and normalized the output to one during training. Lastly, we have a stability analysis of the system: to comma and an R locus for the fixed points by the Jacobian matrix eigenvalues of the model have been given, so the type behavior of this model is described. Also, domestication is the chaos for this model: a 2D controlled low can stabilize a given system. We presented a new concept of applying the HPM system as the activation function in AI binary medical image classification: SPECT Heart data. HPM system outperforms the traditional sigmoid function extensively which can improve the accuracy and quality of image classification within and outside the applicability spectrum. Breast cancer is one of the most common causes of death in women. Early signs of breast cancer can be an abnormality depicted on breast images like breast ultrasonography. Unfortunately, ultrasound images contain a lot of noise, which greatly increases the difficulty for doctors to interpret them. In recent years, computer-aided diagnosis (CAD) has been widely used in medical images, reducing the workload of doctors and the probability of misdiagnosis. However, it still faces the following challenges in clinical practice: one is the lack of interpretability, and another is that the accuracy is not high enough. In this paper, we propose a classification model of breast ultrasound images that leverages tumor boundaries as prior knowledge and strengthens the model to guide classification. Furthermore, we employ the advantages of convolutional neural network (CNN) to extract local features and Transformer to extract global features to achieve information balance and complementarity between the two neural network models which increase the recognition performance of the model. Additionally, an explanation method is used to generate visual results, thereby improving the poor interpretability of deep learning models. Finally, we evaluate the model on the BUSI dataset and compare it with other CNN and Transformer models. Object detection and image classification are among the most important areas to which scientific research is directed, which are commonly used in various applications based on computer vision. The development of low-cost embedded devices with powerful processing is leading to a trend in their use in computer vision, which provides reduced access time, reliability, and data security. That's why Tiny Machine Learning (TinyML) technology appeared, which is field that specifically explores the application of machine learning on highly limited edge devices. Deep learning techniques are increasingly employed in data-intensive and time-sensitive IoT applications. Deploying Deep Neural Network (DNN) models on microcontrollers (MCUs) is challenging due to limited resources such as RAM. Recent advancements in the field of TinyML hold the potential to introduce a novel category of peripheral applications. TinyML enables the development of new applications and services by eliminating the reliance on cloud computing, which consumes power and poses risks to data security and privacy. TinyML currently regarded as a promising artificial intelligence (AI( alternative that specifically targets technologies and applications for devices with very low profiles. Deep learning methods are leveraged in various computer science and artificial intelligence areas, including image classification. Convolutional neural network (CNN) is one of the most widely used deep neural networks for which, several highly effective architectures for image classification have been presented. In this paper, an improved version of the recently introduced CondenseNet is provided as a new network architecture. On the other hand, due to the necessity of reducing the dependence on labeled data in the training process of neural networks, a self-supervised learning method is also proposed for labeling unlabeled images. The results of the experiments show the proper performance of the proposed self-supervised CondenseNet method compared to the basic version of CondenseNet. The recognition of steel microstructure images plays a crucial role in the metallographic analysis process. Although some progress has been made through the application of artificial intelligence algorithms, several challenges remain. First, existing algorithms exhibit weak nonlinear feature extraction capabilities and noticeable limitations. Second, they overlook the intrinsic noise and redundant interference present in microscopic images. To address these issues, this paper investigates the automatic recognition of metallographic tissues by leveraging residual structures in deep neural networks. An enhanced residual network model based on transfer learning is proposed, which utilizes the pre-trained weights from the ImageNet dataset to facilitate learning with small sample data. This network offers higher classification accuracy and higher F1 scores. In addition, a deep residual shrinkage network model based on an attention mechanism is proposed. This model incorporates an attention sub-network into the original residual module and employs a soft threshold function to eliminate redundant features, including noise. The proposed algorithms are evaluated against various convolutional neural networks using 20 types of metallographic test sets. The experimental results showed that both methods have high accuracy rates of 95% and 94.44%, respectively, and F1 scores of 0.9464 and 0.9419. While maintaining the complexity of the model, there has been a significant improvement in accuracy, and the models exhibit strong generalization capabilities. Efficient water supply and timely detection of drought stress in crops to increase yields is an important task considering that agriculture is the primary consumer of water globally. This is particularly significant for plants such as sunflowers, which are an important source of quality edible oils, essential for human nutrition. Traditional detection methods are labor-intensive, time-consuming, and rely on advanced sensor technologies. We introduce an innovative approach based on neural networks and transfer learning for drought stress detection using a novel dataset including 209 non-invasive rhizotron images and 385 images of manually cleaned sections of sunflowers, subjected to normal watering or water stress. We used five neural network models: VGG16, VGG19, InceptionV3, DenseNet, and MobileNet, pre-trained on the ImageNet dataset, whose performance was compared to select the most efficient architecture. Accordingly, the most efficient model, MobileNet, was further refined using different data augmentation mechanisms. The introduction of targeted data augmentation and the use of grayscale images proved to be effective, demonstrating improved results, with an F1 score and an accuracy of 0.95. This approach encourages advances in water stress detection, highlighting the value of artificial intelligence in improving crop health monitoring and management for more resilient agricultural practices. Deep Neural Networks (DNNs) are integral to various aspects of modern life, enhancing work efficiency. Nonetheless, their susceptibility to diverse attack methods, including backdoor attacks, raises security concerns. We aim to investigate backdoor attack methods for image categorization tasks, to promote the development of DNN towards higher security. Research on backdoor attacks currently faces significant challenges due to the distinct and abnormal data patterns of malicious samples, and the meticulous data screening by developers, hindering practical attack implementation. To overcome these challenges, this study proposes a Gaussian Noise-Targeted Universal Adversarial Perturbation (GN-TUAP) algorithm. This approach restricts the direction of perturbations and normalizes abnormal pixel values, ensuring that perturbations progress as much as possible in a direction perpendicular to the decision hyperplane in linear problems. This limits anomalies within the perturbations improves their visual stealthiness, and makes them more challenging for defense methods to detect. To verify the effectiveness, stealthiness, and robustness of GN-TUAP, we proposed a comprehensive threat model. Based on this model, extensive experiments were conducted using the CIFAR-10, CIFAR-100, GTSRB, and MNIST datasets, comparing our method with existing state-of-the-art attack methods. We also tested our perturbation triggers using various defense methods and further experimented on the robustness of the triggers against noise filtering techniques. The experimental outcomes demonstrate that backdoor attacks leveraging perturbations generated via our algorithm exhibit cross-model attack effectiveness and superior stealthiness. The camera traps have revolutionized the image and video capture in ecology and are often used to monitor and record animal presence. With miniaturization of low power electronic devices, better battery technologies, and software advancements, it has become possible to use the edge devices, such as Raspberry Pi as camera traps that can not only capture images and videos, but can also enable sophisticated image processing, and off-site communications. These developments can help to provide near real-time insights and reduce the manual processing of images. The on-board image classification and visualization is facilitated by the advancements in the Deep Neural Networks (DNN), transfer learning approaches, and software libraries. This paper provides an investigation of image classification with transfer learning approaches using pre-trained DNN models, and visualizations with Explainable Artificial Intelligence (XAI) techniques on Raspberry Pi Zero (RPi-Z) edge device. The MobileNetV2 model was used for image classification on the Florida-Part1 dataset obtaining the results for precision, recall, and F1-score as 0.95, 0.96, and 0.95 respectively. We also compared the model performance of MobileNetV2, EfficientNetV2B0, and MobileViT models for classification on the Extinction dataset with the best results for precision, recall, and F1-score as 0.97, 0.96, and 0.96 respectively, obtained with the EfficientNetV2B0 model. Two XAI techniques, Gradient-weighted-Class Activation Mapping (Grad-CAM) and Occlusion Sensitivity were used for visualization through heatmaps, to highlight the relative importance of the image areas contributing to the DNN model's prediction, that can also help to understand the model's performance and bias. With the continuous development of wireless communication and artificial intelligence technology, Internet of Things (IoT) technology has made great progress. Deep learning methods are currently used in IoT technology, but deep neural networks (DNNs) are notoriously susceptible to adversarial examples, and subtle pixel changes to images can result in incorrect recognition results from DNNs. In the real‐world application, the patches generated by the recent physical attack methods are larger or less realistic and easily detectable. To address this problem, a Generative Adversarial Network based on Visual attention model and Style transfer network (GAN‐VS) is proposed, which reduces the patch area and makes the patch more natural and less noticeable. A visual attention model combined with generative adversarial network is introduced to detect the critical regions of image recognition, and only generate patches within the critical regions to reduce patch area and improve attack efficiency. For any type of seed patch, an adversarial patch can be generated with a high degree of stylistic and content similarity to the attacked image by generative adversarial network and style transfer network. Electronic Electronic messages, i.e. e-mails, are a communication tool frequently used by individuals or organizations. While e-mail is extremely practical to use, it is necessary to consider its vulnerabilities. Spam e-mails are unsolicited messages created to promote a product or service, often sent frequently. It is very important to classify incoming e-mails in order to protect against malware that can be transmitted via e-mail and to reduce possible unwanted consequences. Spam email classification is the process of identifying and distinguishing spam emails from legitimate emails. This classification can be done through various methods such as keyword filtering, machine learning algorithms and image recognition. The goal of spam email classification is to prevent unwanted and potentially harmful emails from reaching the user's inbox. In this study, Random Forest (RF), Logistic Regression (LR), Naive Bayes (NB), Support Vector Machine (SVM) and Artificial Neural Network (ANN) algorithms are used to classify spam emails and the results are compared. Algorithms with different approaches were used to determine the best solution for the problem. 5558 spam and non-spam e-mails were analyzed and the performance of the algorithms was reported in terms of accuracy, precision, sensitivity and F1-Score metrics. The most successful result was obtained with the RF algorithm with an accuracy of 98.83%. In this study, high success was achieved by classifying spam emails with machine learning algorithms. Facial beauty prediction (FBP) is a leading research subject in the field of artificial intelligence (AI), in which computers make facial beauty judgments and predictions similar to those of humans. At present, the methods are mainly based on deep neural networks. However, there still exist some problems such as insufficient label information and overfitting. Multi-task learning uses label information from multiple databases, which increases the utilization of label information and enhances the feature extraction ability of the network. Attentional feature fusion (AFF) combines semantic information and introduces an attention mechanism to reduce the risk of overfitting. In this study, the multi-task learning of an adaptive sharing policy combined with AFF is presented based on the adaptive sharing (AdaShare) network in FBP. First, an adaptive sharing policy is added to multi-task learning with ResNet18 as the backbone network. Second, the AFF is introduced at the short skip connections of the network. The proposed method improves the accuracy of FBP by solving the problems of insufficient label information and overfitting issues. The experimental results based on the large-scale Asia facial beauty database (LSAFBD) and SCUT-FBP5500 databases show that the proposed method outperforms the single-database single-task baseline and can be applied extensively in image classification and other fields.
