Severe erosion wear is found on valve spools, which threatens the safety and reliability of these units. The use of the plasma beam spraying surfacing method can significantly improve the corrosion resistance and sealing performance of hydraulic valve spools, reduce material waste, and reduce maintenance costs. The effects of the co-addition of CeO2 and SiC particles on the morphology, surface cracks, microstructure, precipitated phases, and wear property of plasma-beam-sprayed Fe55-based coatings on 1025 steel were investigated using OM, EDS, ultra-deep field microscopy, and a wet sand rubber wheel friction tester, respectively. The dendrite exhibited a directional growth pattern perpendicular to the substrate and the transitional states of the microstructure with the co-addition of CeO2 and SiC particles. CeO2 or SiC reduced the liquid phase diffusion coefficient DL of Cr and C and resulted in a decrease in the G/R ratio. The dendrites changed into equiaxed grains. The main phase composition of the Fe55 welding layer was Cr7C3, γ-Fe. The martensite in the surfacing layer and the carbides formed Cr7C3, which can improve the hardness of the surfacing layer. The grain boundaries consisted mainly of a reticular eutectic structure. The uniform distribution of the Cr7C3 hard phase in the Fe55+1.5 wt% SiC+0.01 wt% CeO2 resulted in a uniformly worn surface. The sub-wear mechanisms during the friction process were micro-ploughing and micro-cutting. The hardness and toughness of Fe55+1.5 wt% SiC+0.01 wt% CeO2 were well-matched, avoiding excessive micro-cutting and microplastic deformation. A low content of CeO2 could lead to the formation of equiaxed grain and effectively improve the uniformity of the microstructure. The wear-resistant layer of Fe55+1.5 wt% SiC+0.01 wt% CeO2 can effectively improve the service life and long-term sealing performance of the valve spools. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Metal nanoparticles are widely used in catalysis. Loading metal nanoparticles into polymer brushes has aroused wide attention, but regulation of catalytic performance still needs to be improved. The novel diblock polymer brushes, polystyrene@sodium polystyrene sulfonate-b-poly (N-isopropylacrylamide) (PSV@PSS-b-PNIPA) and PSV@PNIPA-b-PSS with reversed block sequence, were prepared by surface initiated photoiniferter-mediated polymerization (SI-PIMP) and used as nanoreactors to load silver nanoparticles (AgNPs). The block sequence caused the difference of conformation and further affected the catalytic performance. PSV@PNIPA-b-PSS@Ag was found to be able to control the amount of AgNPs exposed to external reactant of 4-nitrophenol at different temperatures to achieve regulation of the reaction rate due to the hydrogen bonds and further physical crosslinking between PNIPA and PSS. In this study, an Al2O33D/5083 Al composite was fabricated by infiltrating a molten 5083 Al alloy into a three-dimensional alumina reticulated porosity ceramics skeleton preform (Al2O33D) using a pressureless infiltration method. The corrosion resistance of 5083 Al alloy and Al2O33D/5083 Al in NaCl solution were compared via electrochemical impedance spectroscopy (EIS), dynamic polarization potential (PDP), and neutral salt spray (NSS) tests. The microstructure of the two materials were investigated by 3D X-ray microscope and scanning electron microscopy aiming at understanding the corrosion mechanisms. Results show that an Al2O33D/5083 Al composite consists of interpenetrating structure of 3D-continuous matrices of continuous networks 5083 Al alloy and Al2O33D phase. A large area of strong interfaces of 5083 Al and Al2O33D exist in the Al2O33D/5083 Al composite. The corrosion development process can be divided into the initial period, the development period, and the stability period. Al2O33D used as reinforcement in Al2O33D/5083 Al composite improves the corrosion resistance of Al2O33D/5083 Al composite via electrochemistry tests. Thus, the corrosion resistance of Al2O33D/5083 Al is higher than that of 5083 Al alloy. The NSS test results indicate that the corrosion resistance of Al2O33D/5083 Al was lower than that of 5083 Al alloy during the initial period, higher than that of 5083 Al alloy during the development period, and there was no obvious difference in corrosion resistance during the stability period. It is considered that the elements in 5083 Al alloy infiltrated into the Al2O33D/5083 Al composite are segregated, and the uniform distribution of the segregated elements leads to galvanic corrosion during the corrosion initial period. Simple Summary: Mitigating the possible adverse environmental impacts caused by transgene flow from genetically engineered crops to their wild/weedy relatives is an ideal strategy for resolving biosafety problems. To explore a transgene mitigation system in rice, we edited the seed-shattering genes (SH4 and qSH1) of a weedy rice line with strong seed shattering. The results showed substantially reduced seed shattering in the gene-edited weedy rice lines. The single gene-edited weedy rice lines displayed an inconsistent reduction in seed size-related traits. Reduced seed shattering was closely linked with a lack of abscission layers and reduced abscisic acid (ABA). In addition, most examined genes that were closely associated with ABA biosynthesis, ABA signaling transduction, and cell wall hydrolysis were downregulated in the gene-edited weedy rice lines. These findings can assist in exploring the underlying mechanisms of reduced seed shattering in weedy rice plants, in addition to practical applications for mitigating environmental impacts caused by transgene flow and for controlling the infestation of weedy rice. Mitigating the function of acquired transgenes in crop wild/weedy relatives can provide an ideal strategy to reduce the possible undesired environmental impacts of pollen-mediated transgene flow from genetically engineered (GE) crops. To explore a transgene mitigation system in rice, we edited the seed-shattering genes, SH4 and qSH1, using a weedy rice line ("C9") that originally had strong seed shattering. We also analyzed seed size-related traits, the total genomic transcriptomic data, and RT-qPCR expression of the SH4 or qSH1 gene-edited and SH4/qSH1 gene-edited weedy rice lines. Substantially reduced seed shattering was observed in all gene-edited weedy rice lines. The single gene-edited weedy rice lines, either the SH4 or qSH1 gene, did not show a consistent reduction in their seed size-related traits. In addition, reduced seed shattering was closely linked with the weakness and absence of abscission layers and reduced abscisic acid (ABA). Additionally, the genes closely associated with ABA biosynthesis and signaling transduction, as well as cell-wall hydrolysis, were downregulated in all gene-edited weedy rice lines. The regulation of high sea fishing would not be successful without cooperation among the states in the current international society, without a world government. However, the ongoing quest for cooperation in the field of fishery governance focuses too much on the unilateral responsibility of a state to cooperate with a RFMO, overlooking the responsibility of state parties of an RFMO or the state seeking to regulate IUU fishing. This essay reveals that the equitable consideration of fishery governance is sometimes prejudiced in the name of conservation. Fishery governance involves food security, employment, free trade, and the environment. An ideal regime of high sea fishing is expected to balance the conflicting values and bring an end to the fragmentation of international law. The systemic interpretation approach, which is based on Article 31, paragraph 3(c) of the Vienna Convention on the Law of Treaties, contributes to a fairer governance of high sea fishing. Such an approach revives the obligation of the state to cooperate in the fishery sector by referring to external legal sources, including human rights laws, WTO laws, and environmental laws. The relationship between clutch thermodynamic characteristics and contact states of friction components is explored numerically and experimentally. The clutch thermodynamic numerical model is developed with consideration of the contact state and oil film between friction pairs. The clutch bench test is conducted to verify the variation of the clutch thermodynamic characteristics from the uniform contact (UCS) to the intermittent contact (ICS). The results show that the oil film decreases gradually with increasing temperature; the lubrication state finally changes from hydrodynamic lubrication to dry friction, where the friction coefficient shows an increasing trend before a decrease. Thus, the friction torque in UCS gradually increases after the applied pressure stabilizes. When the contact state changes to ICS, the contact pressure increases suddenly and the oil film decreases rapidly in the local contact area, bringing about a sharp increase in friction torque; subsequently, the circumferential and radial temperature differences of friction components expand dramatically. However, if the contact zone is already in the dry friction state, friction torque declines directly, resulting in clutch failure. Identifying disease-related miRNAs can improve the understanding of complex diseases. However, experimentally finding the association between miRNAs and diseases is expensive in terms of time and resources. The computational screening of reliable miRNA–disease associations has thus become a necessary tool to guide biological experiments. "Similar miRNAs will be associated with the same disease" is the assumption on which most current miRNA–disease association prediction methods rely; however, biased prior knowledge, and incomplete and inaccurate miRNA similarity data and disease similarity data limit the performance of the model. Here, we propose heuristic learning based on graph neural networks to predict microRNA–disease associations (HLGNN-MDA). We learn the local graph topology features of the predicted miRNA–disease node pairs using graph neural networks. In particular, our improvements to the graph convolution layer of the graph neural network enable it to learn information among homogeneous nodes and among heterogeneous nodes. We illustrate the performance of HLGNN-MDA by performing tenfold cross-validation against excellent baseline models. The results show that we have promising performance in multiple metrics. We also focus on the role of the improvements to the graph convolution layer in the model. The case studies are supported by evidence on breast cancer, hepatocellular carcinoma and renal cell carcinoma. Simple Summary: Urothelial carcinoma (UC) of the bladder is the most common malignancy in dialysis patients in Taiwan compared with renal cell carcinoma in Western countries. Radical cystectomy is the standard of care for localized muscle-invasive bladder cancer (MIBC), as well as for selected patients with high-risk non-MIBC. Despite improvements in anesthetic competency, surgical techniques, and postoperative care, dialysis patients undergoing radical cystectomy are at a higher risk of perioperative morbidity and mortality than non-dialysis patients. Due to the relative rarity of the condition, published data on predictors of outcome in ESRD patients undergoing radical cystectomy are scant. Our study revealed that accurate reporting of complications is necessary for preoperative counseling, identifying modifiable risk factors, and planning risk mitigation strategies. High comorbidity and low-volume surgeons were interrelated as notable risk factors for major complications. In addition to tumor-related factors, male sex, older age, and major complications significantly influence survival. Background: We investigated the use of a standardized reporting system to study perioperative complications and oncologic outcomes after radical cystectomy in end-stage renal disease (ESRD) patients with bladder cancer. Methods: We reviewed retrospective outcomes in 141 ESRD patients with bladder cancer who underwent radical cystectomy between 2004 and 2015. Complications were graded using the Clavien–Dindo classification system with 0–2 classified as "No Major Complications" and Clavien 3–5 as "Major Complications". Low-volume surgeons were classified as those performing fewer than nine cases during the study. Fisher's exact test along with the chi-squared test, two-tailed t tests, logistic regression, and the Cox proportional hazard model were used to evaluate all clinically meaningful covariates. Results: Ninety-nine (99, 70.2%) patients had no major complications, and forty-two (29.8%) patients had major complications. Patients in the major complications group were older, had a higher Charlson comorbidity index (CCI), and had a longer hospitalization duration than those in the no major complications group (all, p < 0.05). Major complications were also more common when the procedure was performed by low-volume surgeons (p = 0.003). In multivariate logistic regression models, CCI ≥ 5 (p = 0.006) and low-volume surgeon (p = 0.004) were independent predictors of major complications. According to multivariate analysis with the Cox hazards regression, male sex, age > 70 years, CCI ≥ 5, bladder cancer stage ≥ 3, lymphovascular invasion, and experiencing major complications were significant poor prognostic factors for overall survival (all, p < 0.05). Cancer-related anorexia/cachexia is known to be associated with worsened quality of life and survival; however, limited treatment options exist. Although megestrol acetate (MA) is often used off-label to stimulate appetite and improve anorexia/cachexia in patients with advanced cancers, the benefits are controversial. The present meta-analysis aimed to better elucidate the clinical benefits of MA in patients with cancer-related anorexia/cachexia. A systematic search of PubMed, EMBASE, OVID Medline, Clinicaltrials.gov, and Google Scholar databases found 23 clinical trials examining the use of MA in cancer-related anorexia. The available randomized, controlled trials were appraised using Version 2 of the Cochrane risk-of-bias tool (RoB 2) and they had moderate-to-high risk of bias. A total of eight studies provided sufficient data on weight change for meta-analysis. The studies were divided into high-dose treatment (>320 mg/day) and low-dose treatment (≤320 mg/day). The overall pooled mean change in weight among cancer patients treated with MA, regardless of dosage was 0.75 kg (95% CI = −1.64 to 3.15, τ2 = 9.35, I2 = 96%). Patients who received high-dose MA tended to have weight loss rather than weight gain. There were insufficient studies to perform a meta-analysis for the change in tricep skinfold, midarm circumference, or quality of life measures. MA was generally well-tolerated, except for a clear thromboembolic risk, especially with higher doses. The reduction of friction-induced noise is a crucial research area for enhancing vehicle comfort, and this paper proposes a method based on circular pit texture to achieve this goal. We conducted a long-term sliding friction test using a pin-on-disc friction and a wear test bench to verify the validity of this method. To compare the friction noise of different surfaces, texture units with varying line densities were machined on the surface of friction disk samples. The resulting friction-wear and noise characteristics of the samples were analyzed in conjunction with the microscopic morphology of the worn surfaces. The results indicate that surfaces with textures can delay the onset of squeal noise, and the pattern of its development differs from that of smooth surfaces. The noise reduction effect is most evident due to the proper distribution of textures that can form furrow-like wear marks at the wear interface. Activated sericite was prepared by thermal modification, acid activation and sodium modification, and it was characterized by X-ray diffraction (XRD) analysis, differential scanning calorimetry (DSC), N2 adsorption test, thermo-gravimetric analysis (TGA), nuclear magnetic resonance (NMR), and scanning electron microscope (SEM). The results indicated that the crystallinity of raw sericite decreased after thermal modification; the pores with sizes between 5 nm to 10 nm of thermal-modified sericite have collapsed and the surface area increased after thermal modification. The dissolving-out amount of Al3+ reached ca. 31 mg/g in the optimal processing conditions during acid activation; cation exchange capacity (CEC) of acid-treated sericite increased to 56.37 mmol/100 g meq/g after sodium modification compared with that of raw sericite (7.42 mmol/100 g). Development of accurate data-driven quality prediction models for industrial blast furnaces encounters several challenges mainly because the collected data are nonlinear, non-Gaussian, and uneven distributed. A just-in-time correntropy-based local soft sensing approach is presented to predict the silicon content in this work. Without cumbersome efforts for outlier detection, a correntropy support vector regression (CSVR) modeling framework is proposed to deal with the soft sensor development and outlier detection simultaneously. Moreover, with a continuous updating database and a clustering strategy, a just-in-time CSVR (JCSVR) method is developed. Consequently, more accurate prediction and efficient implementations of JCSVR can be achieved. This paper aims to develop a multisensor data fusion technology-based smart home system by integrating wearable intelligent technology, artificial intelligence, and sensor fusion technology. We have developed the following three systems to create an intelligent smart home environment: (1) a wearable motion sensing device to be placed on residents’ wrists and its corresponding 3D gesture recognition algorithm to implement a convenient automated household appliance control system; (2) a wearable motion sensing device mounted on a resident’s feet and its indoor positioning algorithm to realize an effective indoor pedestrian navigation system for smart energy management; (3) a multisensor circuit module and an intelligent fire detection and alarm algorithm to realize a home safety and fire detection system. In addition, an intelligent monitoring interface is developed to provide in real-time information about the smart home system, such as environmental temperatures, CO concentrations, communicative environmental alarms, household appliance status, human motion signals, and the results of gesture recognition and indoor positioning. Furthermore, an experimental testbed for validating the effectiveness and feasibility of the smart home system was built and verified experimentally. The results showed that the 3D gesture recognition algorithm could achieve recognition rates for automated household appliance control of 92.0%, 94.8%, 95.3%, and 87.7% by the 2-fold cross-validation, 5-fold cross-validation, 10-fold cross-validation, and leave-one-subject-out cross-validation strategies. For indoor positioning and smart energy management, the distance accuracy and positioning accuracy were around 0.22% and 3.36% of the total traveled distance in the indoor environment. A procedure has been developed for synthesis of 2-alkenyl-2H-indazoles starting from 2-(2-carbonylmethyl)-2H-indazoles, which are prepared by gallium/aluminium- and aluminium-mediated, direct, regioselective alkylation of indazoles with -bromocarbonyl compounds. The structure of 3-(2H-indazol-2-yl)-2H-chromen-2-one was proven by X-ray crystallography. Simple Summary: As one of the most malignant cancers, the mechanisms underlying the occurrence and development of hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) are complex, and the development of effective treatment strategies has been difficult. Extracellular vesicles (EVs) participate in HCC development in various ways. This review summarizes the latest research on EVs related to Wnt signaling in HCC and expounds on the underlying mechanisms, providing a reference for novel HCC treatment strategies. As the primary type of liver cancer, hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) causes a large number of deaths every year. Despite extensive research conducted on this disease, the prognosis of HCC remains unclear. Recently, research has largely focused on extracellular vesicles (EVs), and they have been found to participate in various ways in the development of various diseases, including HCC, such as by regulating cell signaling pathways. However, recent studies have reported the mechanisms underlying the regulation of Wnt signaling by EVs in HCC, primarily focusing on the regulation of the canonical pathways. This review summarizes the current literature on the regulation of Wnt signaling by EVs in HCC and their underlying mechanisms. In addition, we also present future research directions in this field. Pestiviruses, which include economically important animal pathogens such as bovine viral diarrhea virus and classical swine fever virus, possess three envelope glycoproteins, namely Erns, E1, and E2. This article discusses the structures and functions of these glycoproteins and their effects on viral pathogenicity in cells in culture and in animal hosts. E2 is the most important structural protein as it interacts with cell surface receptors that determine cell tropism and induces neutralizing antibody and cytotoxic T-lymphocyte responses. All three glycoproteins are involved in virus attachment and entry into target cells. E1-E2 heterodimers are essential for viral entry and infectivity. Erns is unique because it possesses intrinsic ribonuclease (RNase) activity that can inhibit the production of type I interferons and assist in the development of persistent infections. These glycoproteins are localized to the virion surface; however, variations in amino acids and antigenic structures, disulfide bond formation, glycosylation, and RNase activity can ultimately affect the virulence of pestiviruses in animals. Along with mutations that are driven by selection pressure, antigenic differences in glycoproteins influence the efficacy of vaccines and determine the appropriateness of the vaccines that are currently being used in the field. The spline teeth fracture of separator plates in wet multi-plate clutches compromises driving safety and the vehicle's lifespan. Tooth fracture is mainly caused by stress concentration at the tooth root and uneven circumferential load distribution. This paper considers parameters such as torque, teeth count, tooth profile, and misalignment errors, establishing the corresponding finite element (FE) model to analyze the impact of the above-mentioned parameters on the strength of the separator plates. Analysis under even and biased load circumstances demonstrated that an optimum tooth count and profile can significantly increase the strength of the separator plates, offering advice for the optimized design of wet multi-plate clutch separator plates. Interface problems and the destruction of the continuity of the oxide film in the Al matrix usually reduce the corrosion resistance of the material. In this paper, the corrosion resistance of Al matrix composites (AMCs) was improved by introducing the silicon carbide skeletons (SiC3D) obtained with polymer replica technology. SiC3D/6061Al was fabricated by infiltrating molten 6061Al alloy in the oxidized SiC3D using the low-pressure casting method. The corrosion resistance performances of 6061Al and SiC3D/6061Al in NaCl solution were studied by electrochemical, neutral salt spray corrosion (NSS), and salt leaching (SL) tests. Results show corrosion resistance of SiC3D/6061Al is higher than that of 6061Al alloys by open circuit potential (OCP), potentio-dynamic polarization (PDP), and electrochemical impedance spectroscopy (EIS) tests. However, NSS and SL tests show the corrosion resistance of SiC3D/6061Al is lower than that of 6061Al alloy. The reason is a corrosion resistant and anti-oxidation network macrostructure with large interface recombination, few concentrated interfaces, and a small specific area that formed in SiC3D/6061Al. To investigate postoperative complications and oncologic outcomes of prophylactic nephroureterectomy and/or cystectomy in dialysis patients with urothelial carcinoma (UC), we retrospectively reviewed the records of dialysis patients with UC and a final status of complete urinary tract extirpation (CUTE, i.e., the removal of both kidneys, ureters, and bladder) between January 2004 and December 2015. Patients undergoing dialysis after initial radical nephroureterectomy and/or cystectomy were excluded. Eighty-four and 27 dialysis patients, undergoing one-stage and multi-stage CUTE, were enrolled in this study, respectively. Demographic, medical, perioperative, and pathologic features were collected to determine variables associated with oncologic outcomes. Although there was no significant difference in mortality between the 2 groups (p = 0.333), all 5 (4.5%) patients with Clavien–Dindo grade 5 complications were from the one-stage CUTE group. On multivariate logistic regression analysis, advanced age (p = 0.042) and high Charlson comorbidity index (CCI) (p = 0.000) were related to postoperative major complications. Compared with multi-stage CUTE, one-stage CUTE had no overall, cancer-specific, and recurrence-free survival benefits (all p > 0.05). According to multivariate analysis with Cox regression, age > 70 years (HR 2.70, 95% CI 1.2–6.12; p = 0.017), CCI ≥ 5 (HR 2.16, 95% CI 1.01–4.63; p = 0.048), and bladder cancer stage ≥ 3 (HR 12.4, 95% CI 1.82–84.7; p = 0.010) were independent, unfavorable prognostic factors for the overall survival. One-stage CUTE is not associated with superior oncologic outcomes, and all perioperative mortalities in our series occurred in the one-stage CUTE group. Classical swine fever virus (CSFV) shares high structural and antigenic homology with bovine viral diarrhea virus (BVDV) and border disease virus (BDV). Because all three viruses can infect swine and elicit cross-reactive antibodies, it is necessary to differentiate among them with regard to serological diagnosis of classical swine fever. To understand the mechanism of cross-reactivity, it is important to define common or specific epitopes of these viruses. For this purpose, epitope mapping of six monoclonal antibodies (mAbs) was performed using recombinant expressed antigenic domains of CSFV and BDV E2 proteins. One CSFV-specific conformational epitope and one CSFV and BDV common epitope within domain B/C of E2 were identified. Site-directed mutagenesis confirmed that residues G725 and V738/I738 of the CSFV-specific epitope and P709/L709 and E713 of the second epitope are important for mAbs binding. Infection of CSFV in porcine cells was significantly reduced after pre-incubation of the cells with the domain B/C of E2 or after pre-incubation of CSFV with the mAbs detecting domain B/C. 3D structural modeling suggested that both epitopes are exposed on the surface of E2. The precise localization of the infrasound source is important for infrasound event monitoring. The localization of infrasound sources is influenced by the atmospheric propagation environment and infrasound measurement equipment in the large-scale global distribution of infrasound arrays. A distributed infrasound source localization method based on sparse Bayesian learning (SBL) and Bayesian information fusion is proposed to reduce the localization error. First, the arrival azimuth of the infrasound source is obtained based on the SBL algorithm. Then, the infrasound source localization result is obtained by the Bayesian information fusion algorithm. The localization error of the infrasound source can be reduced by this infrasound source method, which incorporates the uncertainty of the infrasound propagation environment and infrasound measurement equipment into the infrasound source localization results. The effectiveness of the proposed algorithm was validated using rocket motor explosion data from the Utah Test and Training Range (UTTR). Although psychological factors are known to affect bladder and bowel control, the occurrence of functional urinary disorders in patients with psychiatric disorders has not been well-studied or described. A higher prevalence of functional lower urinary tract disorders have also been reported amongst patients with obsessive-compulsive (OC) disorders. A systematic literature search of PubMed, EMBASE, OVID Medline, PsycINFO, Clinical Trials Register of the Cochrane Collaboration Depression, Anxiety and Neurosis Group (CCDANTR), Clinicaltrials.gov and Google Scholar databases found five observational studies on the topic. Unfortunately, as only one study had a (healthy) control group, a meta-analytic approach was not possible. Overall, patients with OC symptoms appeared to have increased occurrence of functional urinary symptoms, e.g., overactive bladder, increase in urgency, frequency, incontinence and enuresis. This was even more common amongst patients with Pediatric Autoimmune Neuropsychiatric Disorder Associated with Streptococcal Infections (PANDAS) or Pediatric Acute-onset Neuropsychiatric Syndrome (PANS) as opposed to patients with OCD alone. Several biological and behavioural mechanisms and treatment approaches were discussed. However, as the current evidence base was significantly limited and had moderate to serious risk of bias, no strong inferences could be drawn. In the present work, the effects of aging treatment on the microstructures of a TC18 alloy are studied. The influence of aging treatment on the tensile properties and failure mechanisms is systematically analyzed. It is found that the size and morphology of the primary α (αp) phases are insensitive to aging temperature and time. Furthermore, the aging temperature and time dramatically influence the precipitation of the secondary α (αs) phases. Massive αs phases precipitate and gradually coarsen, and finally weave together by increasing the aging temperature or extending the aging time. The variations in αp and αs phases induced by aging parameters also affect the mechanical properties. Both yield strength (YS) and ultimate tensile strength (UTS) first increase and then decrease by increasing the aging temperature and time, while ductility first decreases and then increases. There is an excellent balance between the strengths and ductility. When the aging temperature is changed from 450 to 550 °C, YS varies from 1238.6 to 1381.6 MPa, UTS varies from 1363.2 to 1516.8 MPa, and the moderate elongation ranges from 9.0% to 10.3%. These results reveal that the thickness of αs phases is responsible for material strengths, while the content of α phases can enhance material ductility. The ductile characteristics of the alloy with coarser αs phases are more obvious than those with thinner αs phases. Therefore, the aging treatment is helpful for the precipitation and homogeneous distribution of αs phases, which are essential for balancing the strengths and ductility of the studied Ti alloy. This paper proposes a novel hybrid equalizer circuit (HEC) for a battery management system (BMS) to implement the passive HEC (P-HEC), active HEC (A-HEC), or active/passive (AP-HEC) with the same equalizer circuit architecture. The advantages of an HEC are that it is simple, cost-effective, highly energy efficient, and fail safe. The P-HEC can further use a cooling fan or heater instead of a conventional resistor as a power dissipation element to convert the energy of the waste heat generated by the resistor to adjust the battery temperature. Even if the P-HEC uses the resistor to consume energy as in conventional methods, the P-HEC still dramatically improves the component lifetime and reliability of the BMS because the waste heat generated by the equalizer resistor is outside of the BMS board. Three significant advantages of an A-HEC are its (1) low cost, (2) small volume, and (3) higher energy efficiency than the conventional active equalizer circuits (AECs). In the HEC design, the MOSFETs of the switch array do not need high-speed switching to transfer energy as conventional AECs with DC/DC converter architecture because the A-HEC uses an isolated battery charger to charge the string cell. Therefore, the switch array is equal to a cell selector with a simple ON/OFF function. Water is one of the most precious resources. However, industrial development has made water pollution a critical problem today and thus water quality monitoring and surface cleaning are essential for water resource protection. In this study, we have used the sensor fusion technology as a basis to develop a multi-function unmanned surface vehicle (MF-USV) for obstacle avoidance, water-quality monitoring, and water surface cleaning. The MF-USV comprises a USV control unit, a locomotion module, a positioning module, an obstacle avoidance module, a water quality monitoring system, a water surface cleaning system, a communication module, a power module, and a remote human–machine interface. We equip the MF-USV with the following functions: (1) autonomous obstacle detection, avoidance, and navigation positioning, (2) water quality monitoring, sampling, and positioning, (3) water surface detection and cleaning, and (4) remote navigation control and real-time information display. The experimental results verified that when the floating garbage located in the visual angle ranged from −30° to 30° on the front of the MF-USV and the distances between the floating garbage and the MF-USV were 40 and 70 cm, the success rates of floating garbage detection are all 100%. When the distance between the floating garbage and the MF-USV was 130 cm and the floating garbage was located on the left side (15°~30°), left front side (0°~15°), front side (0°), right front side (0°~15°), and the right side (15°~30°), the success rates of the floating garbage collection were 70%, 92%, 95%, 95%, and 75%, respectively. Finally, the experimental results also verified that the applications of the MF-USV and relevant algorithms to obstacle avoidance, water quality monitoring, and water surface cleaning were effective. Beamforming technology is an essential method in acoustic imaging or reconstruction, which has been widely used in sound source localization and noise reduction. The beamforming algorithm can be described as all microphones in a plane simultaneously recording the source signal. The source position is then localized by maximizing the result of the beamformer. Evidence has shown that the accuracy of the sound source localization in a 2D plane can be improved by the non-synchronous measurements of moving the microphone array. In this paper, non-synchronous measurements are applied to 3D beamforming, in which the measurement array envelops the 3D sound source space to improve the resolution of the 3D space. The entire radiated object is covered better by a virtualized large or high-density microphone array, and the range of beamforming frequency is also expanded. The 3D imaging results are achieved in different ways: the conventional beamforming with a planar array, the non-synchronous measurements with orthogonal moving arrays, and the non-synchronous measurements with non-orthogonal moving arrays. The imaging results of the non-synchronous measurements are compared with the synchronous measurements and analyzed in detail. The number of microphones required for measurement is reduced compared with the synchronous measurement. The non-synchronous measurements with non-orthogonal moving arrays also have a good resolution in 3D source localization. The proposed approach is validated with a simulation and experiment. Conductive hydrogel, with electroconductive properties and high water content in a three-dimensional structure is prepared by incorporating conductive polymers, conductive nanoparticles, or other conductive elements, into hydrogel systems through various strategies. Conductive hydrogel has recently attracted extensive attention in the biomedical field. Using different conductivity strategies, conductive hydrogel can have adjustable physical and biochemical properties that suit different biomedical needs. The conductive hydrogel can serve as a scaffold with high swelling and stimulus responsiveness to support cell growth in vitro and to facilitate wound healing, drug delivery and tissue regeneration in vivo. Conductive hydrogel can also be used to detect biomolecules in the form of biosensors. In this review, we summarize the current design strategies of conductive hydrogel developed for applications in the biomedical field as well as the perspective approach for integration with biofabrication technologies. Some drugs can be used to treat multiple diseases, suggesting potential patterns in drug treatment. Determination of drug treatment patterns can improve our understanding of the mechanisms of drug action, enabling drug repurposing. A drug can be associated with a multilayer tissue-specific protein–protein interaction (TSPPI) network for the diseases it is used to treat. Proteins usually interact with other proteins to achieve functions that cause diseases. Hence, studying drug treatment patterns is similar to studying common module structures in multilayer TSPPI networks. Therefore, we propose a network-based model to study the treatment patterns of drugs. The method was designated SDTP (studying drug treatment pattern) and was based on drug effects and a multilayer network model. To demonstrate the application of the SDTP method, we focused on analysis of trichostatin A (TSA) in leukemia, breast cancer, and prostate cancer. We constructed a TSPPI multilayer network and obtained candidate drug-target modules from the network. Gene ontology analysis provided insights into the significance of the drug-target modules and co-expression networks. Finally, two modules were obtained as potential treatment patterns for TSA. Through analysis of the significance, composition, and functions of the selected drug-target modules, we validated the feasibility and rationality of our proposed SDTP method for identifying drug treatment patterns. In summary, our novel approach used a multilayer network model to overcome the shortcomings of single-layer networks and combined the network with information on drug activity. Based on the discovered drug treatment patterns, we can predict the potential diseases that the drug can treat. (1) In order to improve the properties of antifriction and wear resistance of polyimide (PI) composite under high temperature conditions, (2) 3-Aminopropyltriethoxysilane (APTES) and Lanthanum (La) salt modifications were employed to manufacture poly-p-phenylenebenzobisoxazole (PBO)/PI composites with different interface properties. The representative ambient temperatures of 130 and 260 °C were chosen to study the friction and wear behavior of composites with different interface properties. (3) Results revealed that while both modification methods can improve the chemical activity of the surface of PBO fibers, the La salt modification is more effective. The friction coefficient of all composites decreases with the increase of sliding velocity and load at two temperatures, and the specific wear rate is increases. Contrary to the situation in the 130 °C environment, the wear resistance of the unmodified composite in the 260 °C environment is greatly affected by the sliding velocity and load, while the modified composites are less affected. Under the same test parameters, the PBO–La/PI composite has the lowest specific wear rate and friction coefficient, and (4) La salt modification is a more effective approach to improve the properties of antifriction and wear resistance of PI composite than APTES modification in high ambient temperatures. Copper-based friction material (CFM) and paper-based friction material (PFM) are the two most commonly used clutch friction materials. The friction and wear characteristics of these two kinds of friction materials under dry conditions were investigated by the pin-on-disc test over a broad range of applied loads, rotating speeds and ambient temperatures. Before experiments, the running-in test was conducted to stabilize the coefficient of friction (COF) and wear amount of the test samples. After experiments, the metallographic micrographs of the tested samples were presented to investigate the wear mechanisms. Experimental results showed that both the COF and wear depth of the CFM are much greater than these of PFM. The COF of CFM decreases with the increase of applied load, and changes slightly with the variation of rotating speed, whereas it increases first and then decreases with the increase of ambient temperature. However, the COF of PFM decreases dramatically with the increase of the rotating speed and ambient temperature, while it remains stable at first and then decreases slowly as the applied load increases. Additionally, under such three working conditions, the wear depth of CFM changes linearly, while the wear depth of PFM varies greatly. (1) In order to improve the interface bonding state between poly(p-phenylene benzobisoxazole) (PBO) fibers and a polyimide (PI) polymer matrix, as well as its effectiveness under elevated temperature, rare earth solution (RES) and coupling agent were employed toward PBO fibers as surface modifiers in this article, respectively. (2) The surface characteristics of the PBO fibers before and after modifications were characterized and analyzed by X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS) and Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy (FT-IR). The effects of the surface treatment of the PBO fibers on the flexural properties and friction and wear behaviors of the polyimide polymer matrix composites reinforced by PBO fibers (PBO/PI) were studied under normal and elevated temperature, and the morphologies of the bending fracture and the worn surface were observed through scanning electronic microscopy (SEM). (3) The results revealed that the RES modification was superior to the coupling agent modification regarding increasing the surface activity of the PBO fibers. (4) The PBO/PI composite treated by RES had higher flexural properties and more excellent anti-friction and wear resistance than the pretreated and coupling agent-treated composites under both normal and elevated temperatures. Nitroxyl (HNO) plays a critical role in many physiological processes which includes vasorelaxation in heart failure, neuroregulation, and myocardial contractility. Powerful imaging tools are required to obtain information for understanding the mechanisms involved in these in vivo processes. In order to develop a rapid and high sensitive probe for HNO detection in living cells and the zebrafish model organism, 2-((2-(benzothiazole-2yl)benzylidene) amino)benzoic acid (AbTCA) as a ligand, and its corresponding copper(II) complex Cu(II)-AbTCA were synthesized. The reaction results of Cu(II)-AbTCA with Angeli's salt showed that Cu(II)-AbTCA could detect HNO quantitatively in a range of 40–360 µM with a detection limit of 9.05 µM. Furthermore, Cu(II)-AbTCA is more selective towards HNO over other biological species including thiols, reactive nitrogen, and reactive oxygen species. Importantly, Cu(II)-AbTCA was successfully applied to detect HNO in living cells and zebrafish. Understanding the infiltration and solidification processes of liquid 5083Al alloy into Al2O3 three-dimensional reticulated porous ceramic (Al2O3(3D) RPC) is essential for optimizing the microstructure and properties of Al2O3(3D)/5083Al interpenetrating phase composites (IPCs) prepared by low-pressure infiltration process (LPIP). This study employs ProCAST software to simulate the infiltration and solidification processes of liquid 5083Al with pouring velocities (PV) of 0.4 m/s infiltrating into Al2O3(3D) RPC preforms with varying porosities at different pouring temperatures (PT) to prepare Al2O3(3D)/5083Al IPCs using LPIP. The results demonstrate that pore diameter of Al2O3(3D) RPC preforms and PT of liquid 5083Al significantly influence the of the infiltration. Solidification process analysis reveals that the Al2O3(3D) RPC preform with smaller pore diameters allows the lower pouring velocity of 5083Al to solidify faster compared to the preform with larger pore diameters. Al2O3(3D)/5083Al IPCs were prepared successfully from Al2O3(3D) RPC porosity of 15 PPI with liquid 5083Al at PV 0.4 m/s and PT 800 °C using LPIP, resulting in nearly fully dense composites, where both Al2O3(3D) RPCs and 5083Al interpenetrate throughout the microstructure. The infiltration and solidification defects were reduced under air pressure of 0.3 MPa (corresponding to PV of 0.4 m/s) during LPIP. Finite volume method simulations are in good agreement with experimental data, validating the suitability of the simplified model for Al2O3(3D) RPCs in the infiltration simulation. The stiffnesses of embankments and culverts differ in the transition sections of high-speed railways (HSRs) due to their different supporting conditions. The dynamic irregularity caused by the different stiffnesses makes this transition area the weakest part of high-speed railways. Graded crushed stone combined with 5% cement is typically used to fill the subgrade in these transition areas. Thus, three different particle size ratios of crushed stone were matched and tested regarding the construction parameters to explore the most suitable materials to fill the roadbed in a transition section. Then, field dynamic tests were carried out on the culvert–embankment–culvert transition area where trains run at speeds of 5–360 km/h. A time-domain analysis of the test data was performed to obtain the laws of variation that cause the dynamic characteristics to change with the railway line and roadbed layer and the changes induced by a train's running speed, operating direction, and axle weight. The results indicate that (i) it is feasible to fill transition section roadbeds with well-graded crushed stone combined with 5% cement with optimal water contents; (ii) extreme dynamic responses in some special sections are observed, suggesting the value of taking special measures at the transition section. For example, the sections 14.5 m and 30 m from the 679 culvert and the bed layer should be specially stabilized; (iii) the train's axle load and driving direction show a great effect on corresponding sections and layers but present a small effect on the sections and layers nearby; and (iv) 260 km/h is a critical speed. The plant architecture of higher plants is regulated through environmental and genetic factors, as well as phytohormones. Phytohormones play a critical role in regulating shoot branching. We determined the branching phenotype of D16 and N99-6, the content of strigolactones, the genetic expression level, and the interaction between auxin and strigolactones. We found that the branching development of the two soybean varieties under shading was significantly slower than that under normal light. The average branch length of N99-6 decreased by 40.9% after shading; however, the branch length of D16 was not significantly affected. Meanwhile, the branch formation rate in D16 was significantly higher than in N99-6. In addition, after shading treatment, the content of strigolactones in D16 and N99-6 axillary buds increased significantly, and the expression of phytochrome genes, PhyA and PhyB, showed opposite changes. However, strigolactone synthesis gene GmMAX4 and signal transduction gene GmMAX2 expression levels of D16 were lower than those of N99-6 after 24 h of shading. In addition, the application of strigolactone inhibitor TIS108 and auxin inhibitor NPA to soybean had no significant effect on the branch phenotype. The expression of the GmMAX2 gene was significantly up-regulated after the external application of the auxin analog, and the expression of auxin transporter gene GmPINI was significantly down-regulated after external application of the strigolactone analog under shade. Macroscopic properties of sandstone are commonly attributed to the degradation of its microstructure during heating treatment processes. However, few previous studies have focused on comprehensive observations on how the microstructure of sandstone changes with temperature. In this study, a kind of sandstone containing quartz, albite, calcite, and laumontite (little), was collected from Linyi (Shandong Province, China) to observe the microstructure degradation changes with temperature by X-ray diffraction (XRD), Scanning electron microscopy (SEM) and thermo-gravimetric analyses (TGA). Firstly, 10 groups of sandstone samples were heated from 25 °C to 900 °C. Then, some core micro-parameters including lattice constant, full width at half maximum (FWHM), micro-strain, dislocation density, TGA curve changes and failure characteristic of the mineral were analyzed comprehensively. Finally, the underlying mechanism causing the microscopic thermal damage at different temperature intervals was also discussed. The results showed that: (1) quartz, the framework component of this sandstone, underwent an α- to β-phase change over the temperature range from 400 °C to 600 °C. This phenomenon caused the lattice constant, micro-strain, dislocation density and TGA curve to decrease sharply during this interval, leading to the microstructure deterioration of sandstone; (2) calcite underwent a decomposition reaction between 600 °C and 800 °C, and resulted in the XRD pattern peak, lattice constant, micro-strain and TGA curve dropping continuously. It destroyed further the internal microstructure of sandstone and produced numerous inter-granular cracks around quartz crystals; (3) further examination found that the decomposition reactions of minerals presented non-synchronized characteristics due to the different sensitivities of minerals to temperature, which led to thermal stress, thermal fracturing of minerals, and thermal reactions happening in different temperature intervals. Facile synthesis of carbon materials with high heteroatom content, large specific surface area (SSA) and hierarchical porous structure is critical for energy storage applications. In this study, nitrogen and oxygen co-doped clews of carbon nanobelts (NCNBs) with hierarchical porous structures are successfully prepared by a carbonization and subsequent activation by using ladder polymer of hydroquinone and formaldehyde (LPHF) as the precursor and ammonia as the activating agent. The hierarchical porous structures and ultra-high SSA (up to 2994 m2 g−1) can effectively facilitate the exchange and transportation of electrons and ions. Moreover, suitable heteroatom content is believed to modify the wettability of the carbon material. The as-prepared activated NCNBs-60 (the NCNBs activated by ammonia at 950 °C for 60 min) possess a high capacitance of 282 F g−1 at the current density of 0.25 A g−1, NCNBs-45 (the NCNBs are activated by ammonia at 950 °C for 45 min) and show an excellent capacity retention of 50.2% when the current density increase from 0.25 to 150 A g−1. Moreover, the NCNBs-45 electrode exhibits superior electrochemical stability with 96.2% capacity retention after 10,000 cycles at 5.0 A g−1. We present a straightforward approach to develop a high-detectivity silicon (Si) sub-bandgap near-infrared (NIR) photodetector (PD) based on textured Si/Au nanoparticle (NP) Schottky junctions coated with graphene film. This is a photovoltaic-type PD that operates at 0 V bias. The texturing of Si is to trap light for NIR absorption enhancement, and Schottky junctions facilitate sub-bandgap NIR absorption and internal photoemission. Both Au NPs and the texturing of Si were made in self-organized processes. Graphene offers additional pathways for hot electron transport and to increase photocurrent. Under 1319 nm illumination at room temperature, a responsivity of 3.9 mA/W and detectivity of 7.2 × 1010 cm × (Hz)1/2/W were obtained. Additionally, at −60 °C, the detectivity increased to 1.5 × 1011 cm × (Hz)1/2/W, with the dark current density reduced and responsivity unchanged. Evidence theory is widely used to deal with the fusion of uncertain information, but the fusion of conflicting evidence remains an open question. To solve the problem of conflicting evidence fusion in single target recognition, we proposed a novel evidence combination method based on an improved pignistic probability function. Firstly, the improved pignistic probability function could redistribute the probability of multi-subset proposition according to the weight of single subset propositions in a basic probability assignment (BPA), which reduces the computational complexity and information loss in the conversion process. The combination of the Manhattan distance and evidence angle measurements is proposed to extract evidence certainty and obtain mutual support information between each piece of evidence; then, entropy is used to calculate the uncertainty of the evidence and the weighted average method is used to correct and update the original evidence. Finally, the Dempster combination rule is used to fuse the updated evidence. Verified by the analysis results of single-subset proposition and multi-subset proposition highly conflicting evidence examples, compared to the Jousselme distance method, the Lance distance and reliability entropy combination method, and the Jousselme distance and uncertainty measure combination method, our approach achieved better convergence and the average accuracy was improved by 0.51% and 2.43%. Steel fiber-reinforced ultra-high-performance concrete (UHPC) is becoming an important type of concrete reinforcement. After mixing with the reinforced steel fibers, the UHPC has perfect flex resistance, shear strength, crack resistance, shock resistance, and anti-seepage. In this study, the influence of straight, corrugated, and hooked brass-coated steel fibers (BCSFs) on the microstructure, mechanical properties, and crack expansion mechanism of ultra-high-performance concrete (UHPC) with varying content of 1–6 wt.% under different curing times were investigated. Field emission scanning electron microscopy and energy dispersive X-ray spectrometry were employed to characterize the microstructure of the BCSF-reinforced UHPC mix specimens. X-ray computed tomography was employed to determine the porosity of the BCSF-reinforced UHPC mix specimens. The obtained results indicate the flexural strength and compressive strength of BCSF-reinforced UHPC mix specimens are enhanced, along with increasing the content of BCSFs reinforcement with different shapes (straight, corrugated, and hooked). The embedded BCSFs play a major role in the adhesive property and stress transfer of the BCSFs–UHPC matrix interface. Different from many studies, the flexural strength of mix UHPC with straight BCSFs is higher than those with corrugated and hooked BCSFs. However, the compressive strength of UHPC with corrugated BCSFs is higher than those with straight and hooked BCSFs. The flexural strength of mix UHPC with 6 wt.% straight BCSFs at 28 days reaches the maximum value of 26.2 MPa, and the compressive strength of UHPC with 6 wt.% corrugated BCSFs at 28 days reaches the maximum value of 142.3 MPa. With the increase in straight BCSF content from 1 wt.% to 6 wt.%, the porosity in mix UHPC reduces gradually from 18.4% to 8.3%. The length of average crack spacing is dependent on the straight BCSF content. With the increase in straight BCSF content from 1 wt.% to 6 wt.%, the average crack length reduces gradually from 34.2 mm to 12.1 mm, and the average crack width reduces gradually from 0.78 mm to less than 0.1 mm. During crack extension, part of the energy in the UHPC mixture specimen with the 6 wt.% BCSF content flows into the crack tip region converted into the work dissipated during the bridging process. The crack propagation resistance of the UHPC mixture with straight BCSFs was improved compared with those with corrugated and hooked BCSFs. The bond strength between the BCSFs and UHPC matrix was enhanced by using vibrational mixing, and the brass film coated on the BCSFs contributes to increase the flexural and compressive strength of the UHPC mixture. Gut microbiota play a key role in health maintenance and disease pathogenesis in animals. Dietary phytochemicals are crucial factors shaping gut bacteria. Here, we investigated the function and mechanism of a phytogenic formulation, EUBIO-BPSG (BP), in laying hens. We found that BP dose-dependently improved health and egg production in 54-week-old hens. Furthermore, BP was correlated with increased fecal Lactobacillus, decreased Escherichia coli and Salmonella enterica, and reduced antibiotic resistance (AR) and antibiotic resistance genes (ARG) in chicken stools. The 16S rDNA data showed that BP increased seven genera of probiotics and reduced 13 genera of pathogens in chicken feces. In vitro co-culture experiments showed that BP at 4 µg/mL and above promoted growth of L. reuteri while large 100- and 200-fold higher doses suppressed growth of E. coli and S. enterica, respectively. Mechanistic studies indicated that L. reuteri and its supernatants antagonized growth of E. coli and S. enterica but not vice-versa. Five short-chain fatty acids and derivatives (SCFA) produced from L. reuteri directly killed both pathogens via membrane destruction. Furthermore, BP inhibited conjugation and recombination of ARG via interference with conjugation machinery and integrase activity in E. coli. Collectively, this work suggests that BP promotes host health and reproductive performance in laying hens through regulation of gut microbiota through increasing probiotics and decreasing pathogens and spreading ARG. Simple Summary: Classical swine fever is a highly dangerous pathogen affecting domestic pigs. Vaccination with the modified live vaccine is critical for preventing and controlling classical swine fever. However, many factors, such as maternally derived antibodies via colostrum, could interfere with live vaccine efficacy, leading to incomplete protection in commercial herds. In this study, we investigated the transmission of classical swine fever virus in experimental piglets with various post-vaccination immune statuses. A specific-pathogen-free piglet infected with classical swine fever virus served as the viral donor and primary invader, and was cohabited with piglets with maternally derived antibodies that had or had not undergone vaccination. According to the results, most of the piglets with maternally derived antibodies that were vaccinated were fully protected from contact transmission from the viral donor and blocked viral transmission to the third party (those piglets secondarily exposed through cohabitation). Cell-mediated immunity, represented by specific interferon-γ-secreting cells, served as the key to the viral clearance and recovery. Contrarily, the unvaccinated piglets with low levels of maternally derived antibodies had accelerated classical swine fever virus infection following viral invasion. In conclusion, vaccination still induces solid immunity in commercial herds under maternally derived antibody interference and can block viral transmission in herds. Classical swine fever (CSF) is a systemic hemorrhagic disease affecting domestic pigs and wild boars. The modified live vaccine (MLV) induces quick and solid protection against CSF virus (CSFV) infection. Maternally derived antibodies (MDAs) via colostrum could interfere with the MLV's efficacy, leading to incomplete protection against CSFV infection for pigs. This study investigated CSFV transmission among experimental piglets with various post-MLV immune statuses. Nineteen piglets, 18 with MDAs and 1 specific-pathogen-free piglet infected with CSFV that served as the CSFV donor, were cohabited with piglets that had or had not been administered the MLV. Five-sixths of the piglets with MDAs that had been administered one dose of MLV were fully protected from contact transmission from the CSFV donor and did not transmit CSFV to the piglets secondarily exposed through cohabitation. Cell-mediated immunity, represented by the anti-CSFV-specific interferon-γ-secreting cells, was key to viral clearance and recovery. After cohabitation with a CSFV donor, the unvaccinated piglets with low MDA levels exhibited CSFV infection and spread CSFV to other piglets through contact; those with high MDA levels recovered but acted as asymptomatic carriers. In conventional position sensorless permanent magnet (PM) machine drives, the rotor position is obtained from the phase-locked loop (PLL) with the regulation of spatial signal in estimated back electromotive force (EMF) voltages. Due to the sinusoidal distribution of back-EMF voltages, a small-signal approximation is assumed in the PLL in order to estimate the position. That is, the estimated position is almost equal to the actual position per sample instant. However, at high speed when the ratio of sampling frequency, fsample, over the rotor operating frequency, fe, is low, this approximation might not be valid during the speed and load transient. To overcome this limitation, a position estimation is proposed specifically for the high-speed operation of a PM machine drive. A discrete-time EMF voltage estimator is developed to obtain the machine spatial signal. In addition, an arctangent calculation is cascaded to the PLL in order to remove this small-signal approximation for better sensorless drive performance. By using the discrete-time EMF estimation and modified PLL, the drive is able to maintain the speed closed-loop at 36 krpm with only 4.2 sampling points per electrical cycle on a PM machine, according to experimental results. Background: Concurrent acute cholecystitis and acute cholangitis is a unique clinical situation. We tried to investigate the optimal timing of cholecystectomy after adequate biliary drainage under this condition. Methods: From January 2012 to November 2017, we retrospectively screened all in-hospitalized patients undergoing endoscopic retrograde cholangiopancreatography (ERCP) and then identified patients with concurrent acute cholecystitis and acute cholangitis from the cohort. The selected patients were stratified into two groups: one-stage intervention (OSI) group (intended laparoscopic cholecystectomy at the same hospitalization) vs. two-stage intervention (TSI) group (interval intended laparoscopic cholecystectomy). Interrogated outcomes included recurrent biliary events, length of hospitalization, and surgical outcomes. Results: There were 147 patients ultimately enrolled for analysis (OSI vs. TSI, 96 vs. 51). Regarding surgical outcomes, there was no significant difference between the OSI group and TSI group, including intraoperative blood transfusion (1.0% vs. 2.0%, p = 1.000), conversion to open procedure (3.1% vs. 7.8%, p = 0.236), postoperative complication (6.3% vs. 11.8%, p = 0.342), operation time (118.0 min vs. 125.8 min, p = 0.869), and postoperative days until discharge (3.37 days vs. 4.02 days, p = 0.643). In the RBE analysis, the OSI group presented a significantly lower incidence of overall RBE (5.2% vs. 41.2%, p < 0.001) than the TSI group. Conclusions: Patients with an initial diagnosis of concurrent acute cholecystitis and cholangitis undergoing cholecystectomy after ERCP drainage during the same hospitalization period may receive some benefit in terms of clinical outcomes. Cavity-enhanced electro-optic comb generators (CEEOCGs) can provide optical frequency combs with excellent stability and configurability. The existing methods for CEEOCGs spectrum characterization, however, are based on approximations and have suffered from either iterative calculations or limited applicable conditions. In this paper, we show a spectrum characterization method by accumulating the optical electrical field with respect to the count of the round-trip propagation inside of CEEOCGs. The identity transformation and complete analysis of the intracavity phase delay were conducted to eliminate approximations and be applicable to arbitrary conditions, respectively. The calculation efficiency was improved by the noniterative matrix operations. Setting the maximum propagation count as 1000, the spectrum of the center ±300 comb modes can be characterized with merely the truncation error of floating-point numbers within 1.2 s. More importantly, the effects of all CEEOCG parameters were comprehensively characterized for the first time. Accordingly, not only the exact working condition of CEEOCG can be identified for further optimization, but also the power of each comb mode can be predicted accurately and efficiently for applications in optical communications and waveform synthesis. This study tried to clarify the antagonistic effect of the lipopeptides secreted by Bacillus amyloliquefaciens strain BPD1 (Ba-BPD1) against Pyricularia oryzae Cavara (PO). To determine the major antifungal lipopeptides effective against PO, single and dual cultures were carried out in solid-state media. The matrix-assisted laser desorption/ionization-time of flight imaging mass spectrometry (MALDI-TOF IMS) was used to identify the most effective lipopeptide in situ. Meanwhile, the morphology of pathogen fungi treated with lipopeptides was observed via the SEM. Of the three lipopeptide families, surfactin, iturin, and fengycin, the last was identified as the most effective for inhibiting mycelium growth and conidial germination of PO. The conidia and hyphae of fengycin-treated PO were shown to become deformed and tumorous under exposure. This study provides insights into the antagonistic effect of Ba-BPD1 against fungal phytopathogens. Such insights are helpful in the development of reagents for biological control applications. Backlight power-saving algorithms can reduce the power consumption of the display by adjusting the frame pixels with optimal clipping points under some tradeoff criteria. However, the computation for the selected clipping points can be complex. In this paper, a novel algorithm is created to reduce the computation time of the state-of-the-art backlight power-saving algorithms. If the current frame is similar to the previous frame, it is unnecessary to execute the backlight power-saving algorithm for the optimal clipping points, and the derived clipping point from the previous frame can be used for the current frame automatically. In this paper, the motion vector information was used as the measurement of the similarity between adjacent frames, where the generation of the motion vector information requires no extra complexity since it is generated to reconstruct the decoded frame pixels before the display. The experiments showed that the proposed work can reduce the running time of the state-of-the-art methods by 25.21% to 64.22%, while the performances are maintained; the differences with the state-of-the-art methods in PSNR are only 0.02~1.91 dB, and those in power are only −0.001~0.008 W. The MYH9 (Myosin heavy chain 9), an architecture component of the actomyosin cytoskeleton, has been reported to be dysregulated in several types of cancers. However, how this molecule contributes to cancer development is still obscure. This study deciphered the molecular function of MYH9 in head and neck cancer (HNC). Cellular methods included clonogenic survival, wound-healing migration, and Matrigel invasion assays. Molecular techniques included RT-qPCR, western blot, luciferase reporter assays, and flow cytometry. Clinical association studies were undertaken by TCGA data mining, Spearman correlation, and Kaplan-Meier survival analysis. We found that MYH9 was overexpressed in tumors and associated with poor prognosis in HNC patients. MYH9 promoted cell motility along with the modulation of the extracellular matrix (fibronectin, ITGA6, fascin, vimentin, MMPs). Also, MYH9 contributed to radioresistance and was related to the expression of anti-apoptotic and DNA repairing molecules (XIAP, MCL1, BCL2L1, ATM, RAD50, and NBN). Mechanically, MYH9 suppressed cellular ROS levels, which were achieved by activating the pan-MAPK signaling molecules (Erk, p38, and JNK), the induction of Nrf2 transcriptional activity, and the up-regulation of antioxidant enzymes (GCLC, GCLM, GPX2). The antioxidant enzyme GCLC was further demonstrated to facilitate cell invasion and radioresistance in HNC cells. Thus, MYH9 exerts malignant functions in HNC by regulating cellular ROS levels via activating the MAPK-Nrf2-GCLC signaling pathway. As MYH9 contributes to radioresistance and metastasis, this molecule may serve as a prognostic biomarker for clinical application. CuInP2S6 (CIPS) is a novel two-dimensional (2D) van der Waals (vdW) ferroelectric layered material with a Curie temperature of TC~315 K, making it promising for great potential applications in electronic and photoelectric devices. Herein, the ferroelectric and electric properties of CIPS at different thicknesses are carefully evaluated by scanning probe microscopy techniques. Some defects in some local regions due to Cu deficiency lead to a CuInP2S6–In4/3P2S6 (CIPS–IPS) paraelectric phase coexisting with the CIPS ferroelectric phase. An electrochemical strain microscopy (ESM) study reveals that the relaxation times corresponding to the Cu ions and the IPS ionospheres are not the same, with a significant difference in their response to DC voltage, related to the rectification effect of the ferroelectric tunnel junction (FTJ). The electric properties of the FTJ indicate Cu+ ion migration and propose that the current flow and device performance are dynamically controlled by an interfacial Schottky barrier. The addition of the ferroelectricity of CIPS opens up applications in memories and sensors, actuators, and even spin-orbit devices based on 2D vdW heterostructures. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
