Sustainability is no longer a choice but a necessity, and there is starting to be a shift in consciousness that is putting pressure on both individuals and organisations to share responsibilities and intervene. This paper will explore how the Paper and Packaging Board (P+PB) and its partner Stein IAS found the most successful strategies to educate as many consumers as possible on the best ways to recycle paper and paper-based packaging. They realised that in order to communicate with consumers effectively and economically, a traditional business-to-consumer framework would not suffice. Instead, P+PB and Stein IAS embarked on a mission to follow a B2B2C framework, focusing on engaging packaging manufacturers and their e-commerce clients to reach a broader consumer audience. They understood that they had to convince box manufacturers and e-commerce brands to join the programme, known as 'Box to Nature', which aimed to inspire consumers to recycle boxes correctly, emphasising the exponential effect of proper recycling. The strategy involved showing up where the majority of the target audience was engaged, creating a relevant and bold experience. The launch of the initiative at PACK EXPO, one of the industry's largest trade shows, was a significant step in this direction. The team found a unique, powerful and relevant way to connect with the desired audience in unexpected ways, resulting in a big success that has led to a significant increase in the number of organisations wanting to join the programme. Purpose: In this present study, electrophotographic printing is made on papers which are subjected to different recycling numbers, and this paper aims to examine the colour changes of this printing type. Design/methodology/approach: Four-colour electrophotographic printing is carried out on adhering to the INGEDE 11p standard recycled papers four times under the same conditions. Colour measurements are made by means of electrophotographic printed colour scales printed on these recycled papers. Colour measurements are made with the X-Rite eXact spectrophotometer according to the ISO 13655:2017 standard. As a result of colour measurements, colour differences (ΔL′, ΔH′, ΔC′, ΔE00) of recycled papers are determined using some formulas. Findings: According to the values obtained after four recycling, the highest ΔL′ value is found to be 4.80 yellow and the lowest 1.92 black. Again, according to the measurement results, it is determined that the highest ΔE00 is yellow colour with a value of 5.66, and lowest ΔE00 is black colour with a value of 1.98. In ΔH′, black colour is the highest value of 12.61, the lowest value with −2.05 is obtained in magenta colour. It was observed that the highest ΔC′ value is 2.98 in yellow, and the lowest value is −0.28 in black. Originality/value: In the printing industry, sometimes customers want to monitor the colour differences in the printing by taking the L′a′b′ obtained values as a result of printing from the printing houses. If the colour differences exceed the tolerance values, then they can interfere with the printing. As a result of the calculations, colour changes in electrophotographic printing are observed with many parameters. This study can be a pioneer for the studies that can be done on this subject. Amidst the intensive cola war in the Indian market, Hector Beverages Private Limited introduced ethnic drink as a competitive strategy to attract Indian consumers. This move aims to attract Indian consumers by not only offering health benefits and nutritional value but also providing a sense of connection to the past and emotional satisfaction through old memories. Paper Boat, an ethnic and nostalgic beverage brand of Hector Beverages, has disrupted the Indian beverage industry, challenging market leaders to provide innovative and nutritional drinks. The case study highlights Paper Boat's innovative value proposition and nostalgia marketing campaigns, while also examining the competitive strategies of major players in the Indian beverage industry. The focus of this research project was to assist a local business, Krispy Kreme, to improve their marketing tactics and strategies. Also, to see customer perceptions of Krispy Kreme based on prior knowledge and experience of service; our research group used research tools like Likert and demographic questions all to analyze customer's answers towards Krispy Kreme. Using Qualtrics to easily disperse a questionnaire, we were able to collect a sample of 385 usable responses from a random sample. We analyzed the data through an application known as SPSS (Statistical Package for the Social Sciences) to develop meaningful conclusions and recommendations. Approximately, 81 percent (80.73%) of respondents agree or strongly agree on recommending Krispy Kreme to a friend. This led to a recommendation that Krispy Kreme rely on the customer to expand their market by word of mouth. T-Tests showed that there was no significant difference between males and females with any of the compare data. This is a significant finding for Krispy Kreme. Regression analysis showed that overall satisfaction of Krispy Kreme is good place to eat was dependent on the company's donut quality, the variety, the idea of creating a donut, and the idea of collaboration with other companies. Another regression showed that Krispy Kreme being perceived as a good donut place to be recommend to a friend, was determined by Krispy Kreme's donut quality, the response by respondents to have more Krispy Kreme locations, the preference for Krispy Kreme's donuts rather than Dunkin donuts, and respondents buying misshapen donuts at a discount price if Krispy Kreme sold them. Recommendations included that Krispy Kreme should make more marketing efforts towards attracting more diverse customers. Krispy Kreme also needs to have more locations to improve in sales as well as convenience, for customers to enjoy the Krispy Kreme donut experience. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

This research examines how using a paper versus mobile calendar influences everyday planning and plan fulfillment behavior. Consumers are rapidly moving from paper to mobile calendars for convenience, but this research shows that doing so may lead individuals to be less successful in effectively developing and implementing their plans. In three studies, we demonstrate that compared with mobile calendar users, paper calendar users develop higher-quality plans and are more successful in plan fulfillment. We provide evidence that this happens because paper calendar users take a broader, big-picture perspective during planning, which also leads to higher-quality plan development and a greater likelihood of plan fulfillment. In order to understand consumers' perceptual cognition of Zhangpu paper-cut patterns and grasp the innovative application direction. The four design elements of paper-cut patterns were extracted by morphological analysis, and representative perceptual vocabulary were selected using Kansei engineering theory and factor analysis, then the design elements and perceptual evaluation scores of representative words are used as the input and output data of the GWO-BP neural network, respectively, to establish an intelligent model that can predict consumers' perceptual cognition of paper-cut patterns. To verify the superiority of the model, the predicted result of BP and FA-BP are compared with GWO-BP neural network. The results show that although the convergence speed of the GWO-BP model is slightly lower than that of the FA-BP model, its prediction accuracy is significantly better than other algorithms. Over the last two decades, there has been growing interest from all stakeholders (government, manufacturers, and consumers) to make packaging more sustainable. Paper is considered one of the most environmentally friendly materials available. A qualitative study investigating consumers’ expectations and opinions of sustainable paper-based packaging materials was conducted where 60 participants took part in focus group sessions organized in two stages. In the first stage, participants expressed their opinions about currently available packages in the market and their expectations about a sustainable packaging material. In the second stage of the study, they evaluated five paper-based prototype packages for two product categories (biscuits and meat). Too much plastic and over-packaging were the key issues raised for current packages. Price and quality were the main driving forces for consumers’ purchase intent. While participants were impressed by the sustainable nature of the prototypes, the design did not necessarily meet their expectations, and they were not willing to pay more for a sustainable package. The key message that emerged from the discussions was the “3Rs”—Reduce, Reuse, and Recycle”—which should be the main points to consider when designing a sustainable packaging.

This study sought to gauge to what extent companies in the production chain focus on the relationship between contextual factors and the definition of eco-innovation strategies. The methodology is based on a quantitative approach using a survey in 117 companies. The results show that, in general, the companies in the sample the correlation with proactive innovation strategies was especially strengthened for those at the beginning of the production chain, with an increase in the mean for this group. This result is not in keeping with the literature when it comes to the sample data. In the literature, companies that operate in the latter stages of the production chain ought to have a greater impact at the environmental actions, as they have more direct contact with consumers of the end product. This improved performance for companies at the beginning of the production chain could be explained by the fact that these are the most polluting companies and have become the focus of environmental legislation. Vehicle‐mounted displays are subject to some unique use‐cases and integration constraints that must be thoroughly considered during development to make the project successful, and the customer and end‐user pleased. The automotive industry follows the development of MicroLED with excitement, as it holds promise of increased robustness and brightness, as well as new display types. Technological progress has caused companies to automate processes as customers seek a product and/or service that is exclusive to their needs. Therefore, the study carries out a historical-logical analysis of academic documents on the metaverse in the business field. In this sense, it describes from the evolution to the digital transformation of the metaverse that optimises resources, provides unique buying and selling experiences, promotes brands, among others. In this way, documents in English and Spanish were reviewed and indexed in the databases Google Scholar, Scopus, Springer, and others. In conclusion, the research reflects the relevance of the metaverse as a virtual, immersive, convergent and three-dimensional world for the company-user, brands and sectors that seek added value to satisfy the market. The PC display market has evolved rapidly in recent years, with new technologies and capabilities like high dynamic range (HDR), motion blur reduction and ultra‐high variable refresh rates being introduced at a rapid rate. However, when it comes to choosing a display, consumers are often at a disadvantage. How can they better understand the capabilities of each display, and trust the specs provided by the manufacturer? For display OEMs, having consistent, measurable display performance parameters around which to qualify and promote their products is also beneficial to product development and commercialization. For the past six years, the Video Electronics Standards Association (VESA) has released multiple front‐of‐screen performance standards to help consumers and OEMs meet these needs. This paper will review the compliance test specifications for several of these standards, including the newest update to VESA's HDR standard, DisplayHDR v1.2, which will be launched in the first half of 2024. Residential owned solar panels mounted on roof-tops generated 1.4% of the U.S. electricity supply in 2022. Utilities compensate residential customers using a net metering system by which each kilowatt-hour generated by the customer reduces the customer's bill by the amount the utility charges for one kilowatt. Despite the small impact of roof-top solar on the total market, in 2022, thirty-two states conducted ninety-four proceedings investigating whether to change the net metering system. In these proceedings, utilities advocated changing the rates to discourage residential investment in solar panels. Utilities argue that net metering provides a subsidy to solar customers because the rate the utility pays is greater than the avoided cost of energy. That excess payment allows solar customers to avoid paying for the distribution network. The cost of the distribution network is shifted to non-solar customers. This article will evaluate these claims. It will show that if the social cost of carbon were in the calculation, it would generate a Kapp cost shift from solar customers to non-solar customers. The size of the Kapp cost shift is greater than the cost of distribution networks, reversing any private cost shift that utilities have estimated. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Recycling programs have significantly reduced the amount of waste sent to landfills, but recycling contamination rates have risen, reducing the environmental benefit of recycling collection. In this work, we investigate the prevalence of food-stained recyclable material contaminating recycling by evaluating disposal decisions of food-stained paper items. Consumers are more likely to contaminate recycling with food-stained items that have a low (vs. high) degree of dirtiness. We argue that consumers may dispose food-stained paper items into recycling out of a desire to avoid the anticipated negative feelings of not recycling. Consistent with this argument, we demonstrate that consumers with higher environmental values are less influenced by the degree of dirtiness of food-stained paper items and feel more negatively about not recycling food-stained paper items. We further demonstrate that disposal informational campaigns can reduce recycling contamination and increase composting by changing how consumers feel about recycling food-stained paper items. Howard Rachlin's widely influential behavioral economic approach to self‐control and related issues provides the model for this submission. The topic is overconsumption. Current human consumption levels are unsustainable. Explanations typically focus on societal factors, such as the seductive power of advertising and/or misguided tax policies. However, the effectiveness of these factors depends on the degree to which individuals are susceptible to the message: "consume more." Humans are not blank slates. This paper argues that how individuals frame their choices establishes the susceptibility to overconsume. According to economic theory, consumers frame their options as bundles, composed of different combinations of the available items and activities. This leads to maximizing. In experiments, participants tend to frame their options as "either‐or" choices. This leads to the matching law. Mathematical models of concurrent schedule choice procedures show that (1) the matching law implies overconsumption of the most preferred option and (2) that individuals will persist in preferring their favorite option even when doing so reduces overall reward rates. Given that the matching law better describes how individuals choose than does maximizing, the mathematical models of widely used choice procedures help explain why efforts to increase consumption have been more influential than efforts to control consumption. Purpose -- Even if it is often accepted that smart hotels are built on networks of technological devices, there is currently no consensus among researchers as to what level of technology is required to define a smart hotel. Based on the above-mentioned assumption that smart hotels are built on a network of technological devices, this paper aims to understand how smart hotels can be conceptualised based on customer preferences. Methodology/Design/Approach -- To achieve this goal, the paper conceptualises smart hotels as a service network in which the customer comes into contact with a variety of technological and traditional touchpoints on site. This conceptualisation allows the researcher to observe customer preferences at different touchpoints and identify the technologies that are central to the development of the customer experience. Findings -- The results show that the ideal customer journey includes both traditional and technological touchpoints and that artificial intelligence is of central importance for the development of the smart hotel concept. Originality of the research -- The methodological approach taken in this paper enables researchers and practitioners to easily visualise and identify important patterns in the customer journey, facilitating the task of identifying the most relevant touchpoints in complex service networks, such as smart hotels. Security in multi-tenant databases in cloud computing is a critical aspect, as it ensures that sensitive data is protected and isolated from other tenants. In a multi-tenant environment, multiple organizations or customers share the same infrastructure, making it challenging to ensure the security of their data. In this study, several papers have been analyzed from journals and conference papers, covering a variety of works on Security Multitenant databases in cloud computing. The articles in the literature used for the review were published between 2012 and 2022. This abstract presents a Hybrid approach for securing multi-tenant databases in cloud computing. This paper illustrates the approach which uses a combination of encryption and virtualization techniques to secure data and provide isolation between tenants. The main idea behind this approach is to balance the trade-off between security and performance, which are crucial aspects in multi-tenant environments. This approach's use of encryption ensures the security of data both in transit and at rest, and the virtualization process adds a layer of protection by isolating residents from one another. The topic of sustainability is trending upwards more and more, and it may be related to almost anything, no matter the scale. In this case, one may speak of a sustainable way of life (Hart, 1997), so an individual perspective or a sustainable supply chain or industry (Ahi and Searcy, 2013). The present paper aims at assessing the researchers interest in the sustainability of the dairy and fruit supply chains, since they are representative food groups for the majority of the population and the globalization phenomenon has dramatically changed peoples' choices of food products, some of them requesting products that are far from them without knowing the production process or the logistic chain, which makes both the choices and the supply chains unsustainable. The papers indexed in the Web of Science data base regarding "sustainable dairy" and "sustainable fruit" are bibliometric analysed and their main concepts are exposed through the Vos Viewer software, version 1.6.7.(Van Eck and Waltman, 2014). The main results show that even if the interest in these topics is on an ascending trend, the attention given by the researchers is very low. The main concepts used in the analysed papers concern the consumer requests of sustainable products, challenges towards a sustainable farming practice and food security. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

We illustrate the use of Pearl's (1995) front‐door criterion with observational data with an application in which the assumptions for point identification hold. For identification, the front‐door criterion leverages exogenous mediator variables on the causal path. After a preliminary discussion of the identification assumptions behind and the estimation framework used for the front‐door criterion, we present an empirical application. In our application, we look at the effect of deciding to share an Uber or Lyft ride on tipping by exploiting the algorithm‐driven exogenous variation in whether one actually shares a ride conditional on authorizing sharing, the full fare paid, and origin–destination fixed effects interacted with two‐hour interval fixed effects. We find that most of the observed negative relationship between choosing to share a ride and tipping is driven by customer selection into sharing rather than by sharing itself. Consumers' tolerance of the color of recycled paper was evaluated by the visual assessment of such paper by 30 Japanese university students. The assessment was performed to measure color tolerance using 266 color samples in eight conditions specifying the situation of paper as (1) 'either paper is recycled or not recycled,' (2) 'whether you will buy/use,' and (3) 'use for office paper or for workbook paper.' The responses of the subjects were sorted out quantitatively in terms of the colorimetric values of color samples and then correlated with International Organization for Standardization (ISO) brightness and CIE whiteness. Both the ISO brightness and CIE whiteness were found to be dependent on hue factors and also to be restricted for use in direct representation of the consumers' responses to paper quality. Since the consumers' evaluation of paper quality is due to visual whiteness, we propose a new equation to predict the consumers' tolerance of paper color, in which the equation contains two factors concerning the color distance from the white point and the hue impact. The new tolerance equation was confirmed to predict the consumers' tolerance successfully, particularly when the consumers are aware that the paper is recycled. © 2011 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. • Consumers perceive paper packaging as healthier than plastic packaging. • Paper packaging decreases consumption amounts, as compared to plastic packaging. • Paper packaging activates a health goal, which prompts consumers to limit their consumption of food from paper packaging. • The findings are relevant for food manufacturers, public policy makers, and consumers to enhance healthy consumer behavior. This research investigates how packaging materials bias perceived packaging healthiness and real food consumption. Across five studies and two different food product categories (healthy vs. unhealthy), the authors demonstrate that paper packaging, compared with plastic packaging, decreases consumption amounts of food products. We demonstrate that health goal activations explains this effect as paper packaging can be considered a health-related cue. The notion that packaging materials affect consumption of (un)healthy products is substantially relevant to food manufacturers, public policy makers, and consumers, especially in their efforts to enhance healthy consumer behavior. The regulation of health claims for foods by the Nutrition and Health Claims Regulation is intended, primarily, to protect consumers from unscrupulous claims by ensuring claims are accurate and substantiated with high quality scientific evidence. In this position paper, the Academy of Nutrition Sciences uniquely recognises the strengths of the transparent, rigorous scientific assessment by independent scientists of the evidence underpinning claims in Europe, an approach now independently adopted in UK. Further strengths are the separation of risk assessment from risk management, and the extensive guidance for those submitting claims. Nevertheless, four main challenges in assessing the scientific evidence and context remain: (i) defining a healthy population, (ii) undertaking efficacy trials for foods, (iii) developing clearly defined biomarkers for some trial outcomes and (iv) ensuring the composition of a food bearing a health claim is consistent with generally accepted nutrition principles. Although the Regulation aims to protect the consumer from harm, we identify some challenges from consumer research: (i) making the wording of some health claims more easily understood and (ii) understanding the implications of the misperceptions around products bearing nutrition or health claims. Recommendations are made to overcome these challenges. Further, the Academy recommends that a dialogue is developed with the relevant national bodies about Article 12(c) in the Regulation. This should further clarify the GB Guidance to avoid the current non-level playing field between health professionals and untrained 'influencers' who are not covered by this Article about the communication of authorised claims within commercial communications.
