Given that eco-innovations and the associated renewal of regional economic structures are pivotal in addressing environmental challenges, regional research is increasingly focusing on their spatio-temporal dynamics. While green technological and industrial path developments in specific regions have received considerable attention, little effort has been made to derive general patterns of environmental inventive activities across regions. Drawing on unique data capturing both green incumbent and green start-up activities in the 401 German NUTS-3 regions over the period 1997–2018, this paper sheds light on how eco-innovation activities unfold in different regional contexts. For this purpose, we introduce sequence analysis methods into the research toolkit of research on regional development. These novel methods allow us to understand to what extent regions engage in eco-innovation activities, how these activities change over time and to what extent similar or unique eco-innovation trajectories (co)evolve. Based on this empirical approach, we distinguish different types of regional eco-innovation trajectories and find a strong persistence and path dependency in green regional development. This paper argues that the joint relation between long-term orientation, environmental quality and innovation plays a key role in explaining the economic and the environmental dimension of sustainability. In our model multiple equilibria of economic development and environmental quality can arise due to a trade-off between the demand for innovation that promotes sustainability, and the ephemeral pleasure from polluting manufacturing that impedes it. Additional to traditional policies such as aid and technology transfers, policies that target behavioral changes through environmental protection may provide a double-dividend of economic and environmental sustainability through an environment-patience-innovation channel. As a new engine of economic growth, marine economy has gradually attracted the high attention of countries around the world. At the same time, digital technology is becoming a crucial propeller to empower almost all perspectives of economic sustainable development. This research delineates the exploration of the distinctive regional attributes pertinent to the sustainable development of the marine economy and its interrelation with digital technology in China. Utilizing data spanning from 2013 to 2021 across China's eleven coastal areas, this paper adopts the entropy method to develop comprehensive index systems of both marine economy sustainable development and digital technology to evaluate regional their spatiotemporal characteristics, interrelations, and potential mechanisms based on the panel fixed effects model and Dagum Gini coefficient. The results show that both the level of digital technology and green development in marine economy exhibit a steady upward trend with significant regional differences and hierarchical phenomenon. Notably, regional development disparities within the tripartite major marine economic zones are discernible, with intra- and inter-regional variances being markedly pronounced. Further analysis affirm a substantial linkage between digital technology and the sustainable development of the marine economy, positing technological innovation as a plausible conduit. Our findings advocate for the augmentation of digital technology application through technological innovation, as a strategy to foster the sustainable development of the marine economy while ensuring regional equilibrium. The National Sustainable Development Agenda Innovation Demonstration Zones (NSDAIDZs) aim to spearhead green development through scientific and technological innovation, showcasing sustainable development to other regions in China and offering valuable insights for countries worldwide. Taking Chengde City, which is one of the cities in the second batch of NSDAIDZs, as a case study, we examine the quantitative impact of technological innovation on green development. Additionally, it investigates the threshold effect of Research and development investments (R&D investments) on the relationship between technological innovation and green development. The results indicate that: (1) technological innovation has a positive promoting effect on green development, with a 1.01% increase in green development for every one unit increase in technological innovation; (2) The positive effect of technological innovation on green development becomes fully realized only when R&D investments and the upgrading of industrial structure surpass a specific threshold value. We contribute to the existing research on the connection between technological innovation and green development in innovation demonstration zones. It also provides empirical insights to foster a mutually beneficial relationship between R&D investments, industrial structure upgrading, and technological innovation, ultimately maximizing the promoting role of technological innovation in green development. Green development is an important component of China's new development concept. Pilot Free Trade Zones (PFTZs), as "experimental fields" for promoting reform, deepening opening-up, and raising the level of an open economy, are important open areas for China to promote green development. However, existing related research is not extensive. This article takes PFTZs as quasi-natural experiments, with the Yangtze River Economic Belt (YREB) as the research area. Based on urban panel data from 2006 to 2020, using multi-period differences-in-differences and spatial differences-in-differences models, it explores the impact effects of PFTZs on urban green development and their potential mechanisms. The research findings indicate: (1) Overall, PFTZs significantly promote urban green development, with variations in impact effects due to different batches and locations of establishment. (2) Mechanism tests show that PFTZs mainly promote urban green development by stimulating technological innovation, industrial upgrading, and reducing government intervention. (3) From the perspective of spatial spillover effects, the establishment of PFTZs not only promotes the green development process in the host cities but also has a promoting effect on the green development of surrounding cities. Green innovation possesses dual externalities of "innovation" and "environmental protection", and enhancing energy efficiency serves as a crucial means to promote high-quality economic development. Building upon the energy rebound effect, we use the balanced panel data of cities at prefecture level and above in China from 2008 to 2018 to explore the impact of urban green innovation on total factor energy efficiency (TFEE). The findings of this study indicate that, firstly, the impact of green innovation on TFEE exhibits a positive U-shaped pattern, characterized by initial suppression followed by subsequent promotion. This conclusion remains robust after undergoing a series of rigorous robustness tests. Second, high-quality green innovation is found to reach the turning point more quickly, implying that substantial green innovation can cross the turning point in smaller quantities. Thirdly, on the whole, in comparison to non-resource-based cities, resource-based cities are capable of reaching the turning point at an earlier stage. Finally, the new energy demonstration cities have not yet reached the turning point, while the non-new energy demonstration cities have crossed the turning point. This study contributes novel insights into the relationship between green innovation and TFEE, which holds significant implications for the formulation and implementation of sustainable development policies. Scientific and technological innovation and the sustainable development of new urbanization are the key factors to promote national economic growth, and have a very important role in promoting regional development and international competitiveness. Based on the panel data of 16 cities in Chengdu-Chongqing dual-city economic circle from 2015 to 2022, this paper uses entropy weight method to determine the weight of each index and constructs a coupling coordination model to explore the sustainable development of scientific and technological innovation and new urbanization, the Panel Vector Autoregression (PVAR) model was used to further verify the interaction between the two. The empirical results show that the coupling coordination degree of scientific and technological innovation and new urbanization in Chengdu-Chongqing economic circle is increasing year by year. There is a balanced relationship between scientific and technological innovation and new urbanization, and the two are two-way Granger causality. Therefore, the conclusion puts forward the practical enlightenment of increasing investment in scientific and technological innovation, guiding enterprises to carry out scientific and technological innovation to feedback new urbanization and accelerate the construction of new urbanization, and actively integrating with urban development. Fragile ecosystems that are affected by erosion from high pollution environmental loads pose a serious threat to human health and well-being. The evaluation of regional environmental loads has become a major issue for eco-environmental conservation and management. As a key region in central China, Hubei Province relies on ecosystems and the environment, which offer an important foundation for sustainable development and continuous improvements in social productivity. For this study, seven influencing factors were selected, and a correlation degree model was applied to assess Hubei Province's environmental loads during the period from 1995-2019. The results show that the overall environmental loads exhibit a fluctuating decreasing trend in response to economic growth and development actions. Moreover, as eco-environmental pollution problems have been addressed and improved over time, the ecosystem operating status has been gradually optimized. Finally, the paper concludes with a proposal of specific measures designed to mitigate Hubei Province's ecological loading from the perspectives of industrial structure, public awareness and technological innovation. Against the background of increasingly severe environmental problems, green development has gained widespread attention, and green innovation has thus become crucial for enterprises. This study used 2007–2019 data from listed A-share companies in China to evaluate the effect of senior executives' overseas experience on corporate green innovation. The results showed that senior executives' overseas experience could promote green innovation in companies. This positive effect was more significant for private enterprises and high-tech enterprises, especially in eastern China. The CEO pay regulation have a significant negative moderating effect on this positive effect. This study enriches upper echelons theory and provides theoretical support for government agencies to accelerate innovative green development strategies. Based on the perspective of digital finance and technological innovation, this paper analyzes its application in economic development, green economy, and sustainable development. With the continuous development of technological economy, methods such as artificial intelligence, Internet of Things, big data, and cloud computing become increasingly mature. Economic development is inseparable from the empowerment of technology. In this paper, firstly, we introduce the basic concepts and main forms of digital finance and technological economy and list the cutting-edge technologies including blockchain, VR, sharing economy, and other modes. Then, we analyze the application trend of technology economy. Finally, we analyze the examples of digital finance and technological innovation in detail, including tourism economy, digital marketing, sharing economy, smart city, digital healthcare, and personalized education, three hot topics of technology intersection and integration. The purpose of this paper is to analyze the factors influencing the adoption of environmental innovations towards a circular economy (CE) by the EU firms, with special focus on technological capabilities and external support. A multivariate probit model is specified to allow the distinction between three types of eco‐innovative practices: Reduce, Recycle, and Redesign technological processes. Using a novel taxonomy based upon the distinction between narrowing, closing, and slowing loops in the use of resources, we find that financial and technological capabilities are essential drivers for all types of CE actions in the European firms. Similar findings are found for the public funding support but only when the firms are recycling (closing resource loops) and redesigning (slowing resource loops). Knowledge from private companies (pecuniary mode) is relevant to Reduce and Recycle strategies. These two eco‐innovative practices are also shown in firms with a wide external knowledge network. Results also show that there is an inverted U‐shaped relation between the diversity of collaboration and the circular Redesign of products. Organizational change research to date has tended to proliferate on a conceptualization of change as a deliberate process driven by rational and formal strategic planning and fuelled by the expansion of exploitative resources. This conceptualization entails that change is essentially a process of reproduction in that it occurs along existing (incremental and cumulative) trajectories. Prompted by the need to manage increasingly complex and uncertain environments and foster progress towards sustainable development, the question of what are the exploratory forces that stimulate the capacity of business organizations to engage in discontinuous shifts towards new (flexible and creative) trajectories, without excessively disrupting existing ones, has comparatively been neglected. This paper contributes to address gaps in existing research by exploring how organizational change in response to complexity is framed in the literature on business model innovation. Three core categories of constraints to change are identified: relational flaws, functional flaws and the lack of moral motives; and three interacting forces that can be harnessed to overcome these constraints are suggested: sociability, agility and moral inclusivity. New tools and innovative marketing technologies are emerging in the process of globalization and digitalization of society. The aim of this paper is to review and evaluate the prospects of Internet technologies as tools for analyzing consumers of the tourism market and segmentation of destinations according to specialized types of tourism. The paper uses scientific research methods - analysis, synthesis, systems approach and graphical approach. The possibility of using Ads Manager to collect information and as a communication channel with potential consumers of services is considered. In order to be able to analyze current trends and initially respond to customer requests and wishes, every year more and more analytical systems with complex algorithms appear, a clear example of which was the Google Trends system. It is determined that such information collection technologies are promising. It is confirmed that the pace of innovation is accelerating under the double pressure of changes in tourist behaviour and large-scale technological mutations. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

This paper tries to investigate the future development tendency of five typical industries in China and find out whether there exists a different innovation strategy preference between Chinese firms of low- and high-knowledge density industry in the background of low-carbon sustainable development. First, this paper finds that the innovation driven-based trend of industrial development is further accelerated in China. Firms in industries with high knowledge and technology density, such as specialized-supplier, scale-intensive, and science-based industries, are more likely to choose exploratory innovation strategy than exploitative innovation strategy. Firms in industries with low knowledge and technology density like service- and supplier-dominated industries are more likely to choose the exploitative innovation strategy. Second, results indicate that exploratory innovation can bring higher technological innovation performance than exploitative innovation. And the effect of the ambidextrous strategy is better than the single exploitative strategy in industries with high knowledge and technology density like specialized-supplier, scale-intensive, and science-based industries. Third, this paper suggests that innovation strategy preference plays a mediating role between industry type and technology innovation and a moderating effect of knowledge management capacity between innovation strategy and firms' technology innovation. Innovation is believed to be a key driver of societal and economic well-being. In many cases, it has also led to more sustainable lifestyles and a more efficient use of natural resources. But despite the relevance of innovation as a tool to support sustainable development, there is a need for research that analyses current trends in order to guide future efforts. The present paper addresses this research need. It examines existing methods and tools for fostering social innovation in matters related to sustainable development, within the framework of the SDGs. By means of an online survey undertaken among sustainability and innovation experts in a sample of industrialised and developing nations, this study has identified some of the means via which social innovation is being pursued, along with its applications and limitations. A number of case studies showing examples of sustainable innovation have been mapped to demonstrate its usefulness. A causal loop diagram, which links the factors associated with social innovation within the context of the UN Sustainable Development Goals, is also presented, offering a greater understanding of their interconnections. The paper concludes by outlining some measures that may help to take better advantage of the many opportunities offered by social innovation that put the principles of sustainable development into practice. ackground: The authors' motivation was the growing popularity and interest in both aspects as well as the attempt to identify the relationship between the intelligent factory and other models and concepts. This paper was developed to assess the state-of-the-art in the Smart Factory concept, and in particular its analysis in the context of the concept of sustainable development and green growth policy. The aim of the study was to identify a research gap as a lack of publications linking the concept of a Smart Factory with such management concepts as: lean or agile, as well as green growth policy and sustainable development. Methods: In the literature review, publications from the Web of Science and Scopus databases were analyzed. The identification of the gap was possible due to the analysis of the occurrence of the key concepts in the scientific papers which were selected by the authors. During the research, a sheet was created. It was the database of articles meeting the established criteria. Results and conclusions: There are no articles which cover the Smart Factory topic relating to lean or agile management at the same time. The systematic literature review and the analysis show that other authors rarely see lean and agile as a chance considering the Smart Factory and they do not combine these concepts. On the basis of the review it is impossible to state if the combination is possible and what the relations are. However, this topic is interesting and worth further analyses. This should be considered as a research gap. According to authors, there is a chance or even a need to use a lean and agile approach in production, resources and processes management. Purpose The purpose of this paper is to define and measure the outputs of a specific kind of innovation system, namely a sustainability-oriented innovation system (SoIS) for India, Russia, Mexico, and Turkey, with a view to compare and draw best practises for other emerging economies.Design/methodology/approach In a mixed methods design, the research work combines qualitative assessments based on support mechanisms with quantitative analyses based on the outputs of papers and patents in a set of 25 main keywords and related patent codes.Findings The SoIS for the four countries are defined based on 40 support mechanisms in the six main activities or functional dynamics of innovation systems. In an 11-year timeframe between 2003 and 2014, the output analyses consisted of 42,812 papers in the Scopus database and 3,483 patents in the World Intellectual Property Organization PatentScope database. Best practices were further identified and used to make a set of five key recommendations toward activating SoIS.Practical implications The synergy of each functional dynamic is necessary to maximize the outputs of SoIS and transform knowledge into societal benefit for sustainable development. Best practises include dedicated research initiatives in sustainability priorities.Originality/value The paper bridges a gap in developing and applying a method to identify, compare, and measure the performance of SoIS. Recent years have seen a surge in international interest in the connections between tourism, technological development, and climate change. This research looks at how increased innovation and tourism might help the economies of the Group of Seven to grow sustainably. Multiple panel unit root tests confirmed the unit root properties of the variables, and the cross-sectional dependency of the panel data from 2000 to 2020 was analyzed. Pedroni and Kao's tests reveal a co-integration link between the variables. Full-modified OLS and dynamic OLS studies show that innovation, as measured by patents and scholarly papers, is associated with economic growth and reduced pollution. In order to estimate the variables, this research makes use of the augmented mean group (AMG) and CCEMG. These findings demonstrate tourism's enormous positive effect on lowering pollution levels and growing economies, two key indicators of sustainable progress. According to the study's findings, asylum seekers did not help boost national economies or participate in national environmental improvement initiatives. Evidence suggests that primary enrollment levels promote sustainable development by reducing environmental degradation and fostering economic growth. The findings suggest that the G7 economies would benefit from increased investment in innovation, tourism infrastructure, and technical higher education. Governments are increasingly utilising research and innovation (R&I) policy to foster economic and societal change. Yet, the empirical correlation between these policies and socio-technical transformations remains under-explored. The report investigates this relationship by comparing the Recovery and Resilience Plans (RRPs) of Austria, Finland and Sweden, initiated under the NextGenerationEU framework post Covid-19. The report finds significant disparities in the content, process and transformative value of the RRPs among these countries. The differences in the content of the national RRPs, and the ability and willingness to seize the opportunity presented by the RRPs to drive transformation, are explained by existing national policy contexts and frameworks. Surprisingly, the role of R&I policy in the RRPs is less important than expected, despite its emphasised importance in literature and political rhetoric. In the context of sustainability and carbon neutrality, green innovation has become a focus of China's manufacturing enterprises. However, how a new chief executive officer (CEO) reacts to this situation is less discussed. This paper relies on agency conflicts, employing upper echelons theory and institutional literature to examine the effects of CEO turnover on green innovation. By using a sample of 1,915 listed manufacturing firms in China, we find that CEO turnover leads to greater green innovation quantity but not lower innovation quality. This result does not verify the greenwashing perspective and shows that CEO turnover is a promoter of green innovation. In addition, we observed that formal and informal factors (represented by environmental regulation and media coverage) have different moderating impacts on the quality and quantity of green innovation. This paper seeks to elucidate the inter and intrarelationships between a selected set of OECD green growth indicators (GGI). In addition to the selected GGI, the analysis includes the Human Development Index (HDI) and its sub-indicators. The novelty of the analysis comes from the incorporation of these established indicators, which have been utilised and developed to reflect human well-being and prosperity for decades. Production-based CO2 intensity and emission change are significantly correlated to average length of schooling across the 36 countries that were members of the OECD in the year 2019. Longer years spent in school on average can facilitate the green transition of countries. The correlations among intra-GGI also suggest where OECD countries are lagging in terms of green transition. For example, renewable energy supply share in energy and air transport-related CO2 per capita are positively correlated in the countries. This indicates that countries with a successful path toward green energy are not paying much attention to their high level of CO2 emissions caused by aviation. In the past decade, Human Resource professionals have faced an increasing challenge in dealing with issues related to intergenerational divide in the workplace, as four different cohorts coexist. This divide is influenced by a variety of factors such as increased life expectancy, rapidly evolving technologies, the era of social networks, declining demographics, and many others. Moreover, the turbulences in the world over the last few years, such as the Global pandemic, have only highlighted existing problems and presented additional challenges. Motivating employees is inherently a complex issue, and dealing with generational differences becomes even more so. Due to that, organizations, their HR professionals, and managers are confronted with the question of whether it is possible to create a single motivational system for employees of all generations, or whether a tailor-made approach is needed. Even though it is nearly impossible to answer the mentioned question unequivocally, the goal, while writing this article, was at least to move towards the point of better understanding. After analysing multiple studies carried out by various scholars, as well as research papers, not only generational differences were touched upon, but also similarities in the context of motivation. But any changes for companies should be reasoned and made on the basis of analytical approach. Big data usually could help in this situation without spending time and money on expensive research activities. Modeling is based on few months' daily data with application of regression analysis and the least squares method. New technologies or development policies are introduced to support reducing Environmental Impact (EI) associated with product system, while EI associated with it is mostly formulated as a function of resources used and emissions imposed under some assumptions including the behaviour of its producers/users. However, interactions of a product system with its surroundings may violate some of those assumptions. The users/producers of a product system may react to a labelled sustainable technology/production policy such that leading to increasing the actual total EI associated with product system and its surroundings systems, higher than the expected EI. This unexpected outcome is called emerging behaviour or rebound effect. A product system interacts with various systems in its lifecycle, upstream before and downstream after usage stage. This paper introduces a structured approach to study the total EI imposed by orchestrating systems engineering, Lifecycle impact assessment, Object Oriented, and Finite-State Machine to model the complex structure of a product system interacting with its surroundings during its lifecycle. This paper aims to propose an approach that can provide insights about possible EI imposed due to introducing a new technology or development policy and analysing the emerging behaviours in downstream and upstream of lifecycle using yet beyond traditional lifecycle impact assessment approach. This insight can support decision making and mitigate the risk that movements toward EI reduction have opposite outcomes. This increases awareness about possible emerging behaviours and allows preparing for them, for example, by developing complementary policies to assure meeting the full potential benefit of sustainable development approaches. As the climate change risks' effects on social development increase, how to deal with these challenges has become extremely urgent, and it is necessary for companies to adapt to the changing circumstances. This paper estimates the impact of climate policy uncertainty on corporate innovation using unbalanced panel data with 2,449 listed companies from 2009 to 2020. The findings show a significant positive correlation between climate policy uncertainty and corporate innovation investment. Specially, two possible mechanisms are explored. Government environmental regulations force companies to produce cleanly. Optimistic market expectations encourage firms to shift to a green development model. Further, the renewable energy industry and state-owned enterprises' powers of innovation are more robust. An entrepreneurial approach is being highlighted by an increasing number of recent studies. The relationship between green entrepreneurial orientation (GEO) and environmental performance (EP) has been studied in the past, and it includes a number of apparatuses. The research inconsistent findings are likely caused by the absence of the mediating and moderating effects of green competitive advantage (GCA) and green innovation (GI). This study investigates how GEO influences EP Johannesburg municipality in the Gauteng province: the role of GCA and GI. The data was collected form 424 respondents across the Johannesburg municipality. The data was analysed using SmartPLS 4.0. The empirical findings of this study show that there is a significant positive relationship between GEO and the EP of SMEs. The study further shows that the relationship between GEO and EP is partially mediated by GCA and the relationship is also moderated by GI at an average weight. This paper fills a gap in the literature by exploring external business variables mediating and moderating the relationship between GEO and EP and contributes to the discussion on the contradictory results regarding the relationship between GEO and EP. The study suggests some recommendations on how the managers of SMEs can improve GEO. Government subsidies are important to the improvement of innovation level and sustainable development of biopharmaceutical firms. This paper empirically analyses the impact of government R&D and non-R&D subsidies on the innovation output of biopharmaceutical firms. We establish static, and dynamic panel mediation effect models using 2013–2019 data from China's listed biopharmaceutical companies. Additionally, we further explore the mediating role of R&D investment between R&D subsidies and innovation output. The findings show that, first, R&D subsidies contribute to the innovation output of biopharmaceutical firms, while the effect of non-R&D subsidies is insignificant. Second, the study of the mechanism shows that R&D subsidies can significantly promote firms' innovation output through R&D investment in the static mediating model; but interestingly, the R&D subsidies fail to promote innovation output in the dynamic mediating model through R&D investment, perhaps due to the sustainable impact of innovation. Based on the above results, this paper provides suggestions and insights for the formulation of different types of subsidy policies and the improvement of the innovation level of biopharmaceutical firms. The main goal of the project is to create an interactive exhibition, innovative and technological in its approach, that aims to create awareness and promote the knowledge of the Sustainable Development Goals of the Agenda ONU 2030 - in particular, on the value of social and environmental sustainability. 178 Countries adopted a common agenda to preserve our planet for the first time in 1992, during the Rio de Janeiro Summit. From that moment, the concept of sustainability has changed forever and has been changing ever since. In this paper, after understanding the state of the art in the field of the interactive exhibition, it is going to be explained how the methodology is applied in order to evolve from a desk and field analysis to a concept definition. These key points will then help define the concept in the shape of an operative strategy with methodological guidelines and a structured solution. Intersectionality is increasingly suggested as an innovative framework with the potential to advance the understanding and the action towards contrasting inequalities, by highlighting processes of stigmatisation and by encouraging a critical reflection to move beyond singular categories. The contribution explore the relation between the intersectional approach and design cultures and practices by presenting the main outcomes of Track 2 "Intersectional Design for an Accessible and Empowering World" in the frame of the 8th International Forum of Design as a Process. The contributions collected in this frame represent a wealth of practices, methods and applications that show how the theoretical contribution linked to the topic of intersectionality can be applied to the co-creation of innovation in design-driven practices in diversified geographies. Unlike previous studies mainly focused on the economic impact of green innovation, this paper explores its social returns, denoted by the stakeholder engagement, given stakeholders can affect or are affected by the firm's low‐carbon transition. Drawing on the complementary view and the substitute view, our empirical results from China over the sample period of 2012 to 2018 found that more green innovation would crowd in stakeholder‐related activities, especially for the welfare improvement of customers and suppliers. However, better stakeholder relations do not bring positive economic returns given the weak social pressures and uncertain rewards for being socially responsible in emerging countries. By doing so, our study expands the theoretical knowledge about the social impact of green innovation, thus offering a practical guidance for firms to simultaneously manage their environmental performance, social performance and economic performance in China and, potentially, in other emerging countries which also pursue environmental transition and better stakeholder management. Eco‐innovation has turned into the hotspot of numerous enterprises and governments to gain sustainable development. This study examines how enterprises acquire green knowledge in interorganizational cooperative eco‐innovations, exploring the influence of different collaborative modes and the direct and moderating roles of specific investments. In accordance with interorganizational interaction level, the widely used collaborative modes can be attributed to low‐ (e.g., commissioned research and development [R&D]), medium‐, and high‐interaction modes (e.g., joint R&D and co‐construction of R&D entities). Results from a survey of 172 Chinese firms operating in the new energy vehicle industrial chain support that both specific investments and collaborative eco‐innovation have positive effects on green knowledge acquisition. Furthermore, the positive effect of collaborative eco‐innovation is stronger for high‐interaction collaboration modes than that for low‐interaction collaboration modes. Specific investments also play a moderate role in the link of collaborative eco‐innovation and green knowledge acquisition; similarly, the positive moderating effect is stronger for high‐interaction collaboration modes than that for low‐interaction collaboration modes. These findings suggest that when managers formulate the environmental policy, they should encourage collaboration, interorganizational interactions, and specific investments to acquire green knowledge. This paper mainly contributes to open eco‐innovation literature by revealing the mechanisms and the boundary conditions under which collaborative mode could effectively promote green knowledge acquisition. This paper examines the effects of environmental innovation on CO2 emissions as well as the moderating role of environmental governance in this relationship. Based on a sample of companies listed on the London Stock Exchange for the period from 2016 to 2020, the findings show that environmental innovation reduces CO2 emissions including Scope 1 and Scope 2 CO2 emissions. Likewise, our findings are associative of a moderating effect of environmental governance on the environmental innovation‐CO2 emissions nexus. We argue that environmental innovation along with better environmental governance leads to a reduction in CO2 emissions. Our results hold for subsamples of firms with a strong/low environmental governance and ESG performance. Our findings offer important implications for companies and policymakers towards adopting more environmental technologies along with enhancing environmental governance to reduce CO2 emissions. The debate on innovations that contributes to the decoupling of economic growth and environmental degradation or fosters the transition from the brown to the green economy is becoming increasingly relevant in the academic and business worlds, fuelling a research stream that is proving very interesting for its economic, environmental and social implications. Although the debate on the adoption of environmental innovations is well underway, the discussion on eco‐innovation in the context of small‐ and medium‐sized enterprises (SMEs) is at a less developed stage and deserves more attention, especially given the relevance of these companies in the economic system of several countries. Thus, this study proposes a systematic literature review of the determinants of eco‐innovation in SMEs and explores the relationships among them by starting from the criticalities highlighted in the five literature reviews of determinants of eco‐innovations in SMEs that have been recently published. The first step of the research concerns a detailed description of the selection process of the articles under consideration and of their characteristics. In the second step, 14 main categories of determinants are identified. The pursuit of a green transformation agenda in China is an important aspect of achieving sustainable development. The role played by green financial development efficiency (GFDE) in this pursuit cannot be overlooked. This paper explored the impact of GFDE on China's green transformation agenda and its contributions toward sustainable development. The study adopts a systematic approach to examine the relationship between GFDE and green transformation, utilizing relevant data and literature. The study aligns with previous research in the field that highlights the importance of green finance in reducing carbon emissions and promoting sustainable development in China. It also adds to the existing literature by specifically focusing on the role of green financial development efficiency in the pursuit of a green transformation agenda in China. The study found a significant improvement in GFDE over the period of 2010 to 2020 in promoting green transformation in China. Both systems generalized method of moments and fixed-effect models revealed that trade openness, foreign investments, technological innovation, and government budget positively influenced GFDE while energy consumption and economic policy uncertainty had a significant adverse effect on GFDE. The results of this study inform policymakers and stakeholders of the importance of green finance in promoting sustainable development. The study intimated that the financial sector should provide support for green technologies and businesses by offering range of green products such as green bonds, funds, and loans. Based on panel data from 30 provinces in China from 2008 to 2017, this paper constructs a quantile regression econometric model to analyze whether China's environmental regulation has an impact on export trade and to verify whether the Porter hypothesis has been valid in China in recent years. The results show that in the short term, environmental regulations have a restraining effect on export trade, while in the long run, due to the existence of innovation efficiency, environmental regulations will change from having a restraining effect to a promoting effect on export trade. Strict environmental regulations will reduce the production cost of Chinese products, further improve the export competitiveness of Chinese enterprises, and promote export trade. The empirical results verify the conclusion that the Porter hypothesis is confirmed in China. The following three suggestions are proposed for China's exports to promote the win–win of China's green development and export trade: promote the realization of international and domestic double circulation, avoid becoming "pollution shelters" and support technological innovation in environmental protection industries. As sustainable development includes environmental protection and that is conditional on sustainable development, an institution's concerns in this regard must be considered as one of the priorities that will set development strategies and programs and will implement them in practice so that environmental protection be permanently taken into account. This paper aimed to highlight the concept of circular economy which refers to the harmonization of sustainable development needs of long-term humanity. Global environmental problems will require the development of new technologies. How will green technology-related public policy affect this process? By exploiting an economic assessing model of green technical innovation efficiency, this paper examines the impact of two different environmental policies (environmental regulation and government subsidy) and their interaction on green technical innovation. The analysis was conducted by collecting innovation-related data on 30 provinces in China over the period 2006–2016. It was found that there are dramatic regional differences in green innovation efficiency in China. The average efficiency in the eastern region is about 0.8, followed by the western region, the central region and the north-eastern region, with 0.4, 0.2 and 0.2, respectively. During the sample period, there was a statistically significant effect of the coupling of the two policy instruments on the innovative efficiency of green technology of China, which is − 0.01. Regulatory policies have a remarkable incentive influence on the performance of green innovation in the central region (0.5) but a restraining effect on the eastern region (− 0.9). R&D subsidies play an essential role in inducing green technology only in the central region (0.2). The paper concludes that both regulative policy and governmental subsidies have failed to achieve the goal of promoting green innovation development in China. These two figures show the average regional efficiency of the two types of innovation with or without environment-related factors using innovation-related data on a panel of 30 provinces in China over the period 2006–2016. In order to adhere to the concept of sustainable development, firms are increasingly expected to develop innovations that reconcile economic, environmental, and social goals (i.e., sustainable innovations). However, achieving this goal is not straightforward, and although several studies have attempted to improve our understanding of sustainable innovation, a systematization of extant findings is lacking. Therefore, this paper conducts a literature review with the objective of organizing previous research regarding sustainable innovation. A systematic approach is adopted, identifying 69 relevant articles. These articles are organized according to three key perspectives: internal managerial, external relational, and performance evaluation. The results demonstrate that the first perspective, incorporating diverse managerial aspects, is the most considered, whereas the second and third perspectives remain underdeveloped. This paper addresses a gap in the Participatory Design (PD) literature, wherein more research on the long-term impact of design projects is warranted. This paper reflects on a 10-year study that intertwined ethnography and 2 PD projects in a community of older learners. Although the goal of our study was to design new digital technologies, the process of designing them presented us with opportunities that gave rise to new non-digital practices, which turned out to be the legacy and most significant outcomes of the PD projects. This result invited us to review the trajectory that led to these outcomes. Our analysis shows that the most important legacy aspect of the projects arose from unexpected forms of user—driven participation that we allowed to co-exist together with those practices more related to the design goals of the PD projects. Drawing upon our results, this paper posits that engagement with PD participants that unfolds over an extended period of time is instrumental in facilitating the development of participation, understanding more deeply long-lasting project outcomes, and legitimising forms of participation that are not directly related to project/design goals. Coupling innovations in everyday social and technological practices to close energy poverty delivers local sustainable development. Although case studies on the linkages between energy access and sustainable development had been far-reaching, we know very little about their interactions in everyday practices, such as cooking. A focus on access to renewable energy for everyday activities as cooking has substantial implications for the energy justice principles of equity, accessibility, and affordability. Energy justice underlines the necessity for all people to have access to energy services fairly. At the same time, one should ensure that these energy systems do not inflict damage upon the present and future generations. This paper used a Grounded Theory approach to show how an energy transition in everyday practices such as cooking can deliver just, local, sustainable development while emerging as a sociotechnical innovation in rural Thailand. This paper examines sustainable development, which employs an integrated approach to tackle environmental, social, and economic challenges. It provides a theoretical underpinning by examining sustainable development's inception, fundamental tenets, and conceptual structures. This study highlights the interdependence of social equity, economic prosperity, and environmental conservation, emphasizing the need for a comprehensive approach. Quantitative methodology is utilized in this study, and the dependent variable is sustainable development. Financial risk, green growth, technological innovation, renewable energy, financial inclusion, and soft infrastructure are all independent variables. The analysis is predicated on secondary data from the Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development and World Development Indicators databases spanning 2004 to 2019. An entropy-weighted method used for the green growth index is a metric that enhances the precision of variable indicators. Cointegration, correlation, VIF, cross-sectional dependency, and stationarity tests are among the diagnostic tests that inform the selection of methods for the panel data set. It is determined that fully modified ordinary least squares is the suitable technique. The findings suggest statistically significant positive correlations among greenhouse gases, financial inclusion, and soft infrastructure. Conversely, significant negative correlations exist between financial risk, green growth, renewable energy, and technological innovation. An estimated 55% long-run variance is present. The study's key finding is that financial risk has an adverse effect on sustainable development, while an impactful relationship where increased green growth is linked to decreased GHG emissions. This association is notably significant. Results show that renewable energy has a negative coefficient and significant negative impact on greenhouse gases, showing an active relation to enhancing sustainable development. In contrast, financial inclusion has a significant positive effect on sustainable development. The implications imply that providing incentives to institutions engaged in alternative energy, precisely renewable sources, could positively impact the environment. Government policies and funding regulations oriented toward sustainable development are indispensable for environmental sustainability. Government policies and incentives are pivotal in advancing an environmentally conscious and sustainable future. To tackle the multifaceted environmental challenges and bolster environmental law enforcement in China, environmental courts have proliferated across many cities since 2007. However, their actual effects on economic growth, a central concern for governments at all levels, have yet to be thoroughly investigated. Leveraging the panel data of 230 cities from 2007-2016 and taking the establishment of environment courts as a quasi-natural experiment, this paper uses the difference-in-differences (DID) approach to examine the effects of building environmental courts on green economic growth at the prefectural level. We find that first, the effect is positive and significant; second, on possible channel for the boosting effect of environment court is through increasing technological innovation; third, the effect of court on green growth is more significant after two to three years. The upgrade of industrial structure is one type of momentum for improving urban ecological efficiency, and exploring the nexus between them can help implement the concept of green development. Using data from 284 cities in China between 2004 and 2019, this research employs a series of econometric models to examine how improving industrial structure contributes to the growth of urban ecological efficiency. The research results reveal that urban ecological efficiency can be significantly improved by industrial structure upgrade, while ecological efficiency is inhibited by low-quality GDP and financial development models and insignificantly decreased by industrial structure rationalization. In addition, industrial structure upgrading has failed to play a mediating role in promoting eco-efficiency through technological innovation and the reduction of pollutant emission intensity. Moreover, officials' turnover plays a negative moderating influence on the role of industrial upgrading in increasing ecological efficiency, while environmental regulation plays the opposite role. This study further conducts triple heterogeneity tests including city size, resource endowment, and regional heterogeneity, which provide a feasible way for further implementation of relevant policies. China's environmental governance exhibits a significant imbalance with its economic development. To enhance the "green" and sustainable practices of enterprises, employing environmental, social, and governance (ESG) principles is imperative. The literature examining the correlation between ESG and green innovation (GI) lacks detailed clarity and obscures the different effects of each dimension. Inefficient resource allocation may also result from ignoring the distinct implementation costs associated with each dimension of ESG. Such problems eventually hinder the guidance of corporate practices. Therefore, the promoting or inhibiting effects stemming from each of these dimensions warrant further study. In this paper, we use data from A‐share listed companies in China for the years 2004 to 2020 to investigate the mechanism that links the E, S, and G dimensions of ESG with GI from an externality perspective. We prove a linear or U‐shaped relationship between the E or S dimension and GI, and we explore the mediating effect of financing constraints on these relationships. We compare these dimensions under a unified theoretical framework to clarify their differences in externality and internality. This study's results highlight the importance for enterprises to emphasise environmental issues and social recognition, instead of just corporate operations, to achieve sustainable development. High-technology industries have gained substantial recognition as pivotal drivers of economic growth and technological advancement in modern society. The imperative of sustainable development in high-tech industries cannot be overemphasized, as it plays a crucial role in enabling long-term growth, fostering innovation, and assuming environmental responsibility. This article presents a study on sustainable development in high-tech industries using Boundary Shell theory. The study investigates the role of the stable and sustainable entropy criterion for the Boundary Shell system of high-tech industries from an entropy balance perspective. It analyzes the upper and lower limits of the Boundary Shell support force. Additionally, it improves the traditional boundary system ratio model to comprehensively and objectively evaluate the sustainable development of high-tech industries. The results illustrate that the Boundary Shell of industrial innovation is stronger than that of external dependency, with a reversed ranking of internal evaluation factor strengths compared to the traditional model. This research integrates reaction-diffusion equations theory with entropy balance equations theory to address sustainability issues in the high-tech industry. We further analyze the sustainable development of the high-tech industry through a Boundary Shell theory perspective to advance sustainability in high-tech industries. As part of the burgeoning research on green innovation (GI) and its influence on competitive advantage (CA), this paper examines the moderating effect of research and development (R&D) on this nexus. Our framework identifies five critical capabilities that contribute to CA, namely, firm image, labor costs, product differentiation, product quality, and market share. Using a novel bias‐correction methodology, we examined the Spanish Technological Innovation Panel (PITEC in Spanish) database from 2003 to 2016 to determine whether GI practices foster CA. Treatment‐effects analyses, including propensity score matching and fuzzy difference‐in‐differences (DiD), demonstrated that R&D expenditures have a positive moderating effect on CA when controlling for the covariates GI practices, firm age, and firm size. This research advances our understanding of the interplay between GI practices, R&D investments, and CA and, as such, has implications for decision makers aiming to create sustainable CA through GI.
