Homoprejudiced violence is a type of aggression against an individual or a community based on their actual or perceived sexual orientation. It may be linked to risks of acquiring HIV/STI via psychosocial variables. This study explored the association between homoprejudiced violence experiences and high-risk sexual behaviors, and potential psychosocial mediators. Using cross-sectional survey data collected in China through Blued among men who have sex with men (MSM) in January 2021, this study conducted multiple mediation analyses. Standard instruments were used to collect data on depressive symptoms in the last two weeks (PHQ-9), recreational drug usage in the last three months, and ever experiencing homoprejudiced violence (12-item survey instrument). Dependent variables were having condomless anal sex and having three or more sexual partners in the last three months. Among 1828 MSM, nearly half (847, 46%) had experienced homoprejudiced violence. Twenty-three percent (427) reached a score that suggested moderate or severe depression and 35% (644) had used recreational drugs. In the last three months, 40% (731) had condomless anal sex and 34% (626) had three or more sexual partners. The indirect mediational coefficients through depression on condomless anal sex and multiple sexual partners were 0.04 (95% CI: [0.02, 0.07]) and 0.02 (95% CI: [0.001, 0.05]), respectively. The indirect mediational coefficient of homoprejudiced violence experience on multiple sexual partners through recreational drug use was 0.05 (95% CI: [0.03, 0.08]). These findings suggest that more comprehensive interventions are needed to address the syndemic of homoprejudiced violence, mental health issues, and HIV/STI-related risks.

Abstract Purpose Few studies have focused on the risk factors leading to postoperative blood transfusion after open reduction and internal fixation (ORIF) of proximal humeral fractures (PHFs) in the elderly. Therefore, we designed this study to explore potential risk factors of blood transfusion after ORIF for PHFs. We have also established a nomogram model to integrate and quantify our research results and give feedback. Methods In this study, we retrospectively analyzed the clinical data of elderly PHF patients undergoing ORIF from January 2020 to December 2021. We have established a multivariate regression model and nomograph. The prediction performance and consistency of the model were evaluated by the consistency coefficient and calibration curve, respectively. Results 162 patients met our inclusion criteria and were included in the final study. The following factors are related to the increased risk of transfusion after ORIF: time to surgery, fibrinogen levels, intraoperative blood loss, and surgical duration. Conclusions Our patient-specific transfusion risk calculator uses a robust multivariable model to predict transfusion risk.The resulting nomogram can be used as a screening tool to identify patients with high transfusion risk and provide necessary interventions for these patients (such as preoperative red blood cell mobilization, intraoperative autologous blood transfusion, etc.).

Abstract Heart failure is the final stage of several cardiovascular diseases, and the key to effectively treating heart failure is to reverse or delay ventricular remodelling. Levosimendan is a novel inotropic and vasodilator agent used in heart failure, whereas the impact of levosimendan on ventricular remodelling is still unclear. This study aims to investigate the impact of levosimendan on ventricular remodelling in patients with left ventricular systolic dysfunction. Electronic databases were searched to identify eligible studies. A total of 66 randomized controlled trials involving 7968 patients were included. ObjectiveTo provide a scientific basis for optimizing the registration and regulation， disease/medical states with a high clinical need for specific whole-nutrient foods for special medical purposes （FSMP-S） were identified.MethodsA core outcome set construction method was used in this study. A systematic review was conducted to determine the list of diseases/medical states that could be supported by FSMP-S. Then， a list of diseases/medical states with high clinical demand for FSMP-S was selected through the Delphi method and face-to-face consensus meetings， and optimization suggestions for classifying the FSMP-S were proposed.ResultsA total of 27 studies were identified， and 103 diseases/medical states with FSMP-S intervention were obtained from 5，984 papers in Chinese and English. Forty-seven physicians and dietitians from 3A hospitals participated in two rounds of Delphi surveys， after which 23 diseases/medical states were recognized as having high clinical demand for FSMP-S. The consensus meeting narrowed the scope of the FSMP-S to a high clinical need of 11 diseases/medical states. Finally， a “1+1” optimization strategy was proposed to add nutritional metabolic characteristics to the classification method for FSMP-S.ConclusionThe “1+1” strategy could optimize the classification of FSMP-S from the perspective of clinical application requirements； however， its feasibility remains undemonstrated.

In this paper, an output dynamic game model of intertwined supply chains operating in two different countries is established. The Nash equilibrium point of the model and its stable region are obtained using nonlinear dynamic principles. The complex properties of the system, such as stability, period-doubling bifurcations, and chaos, are investigated using numerical simulations. Our results suggest that the level of output and the system’s profits undergo bifurcation and chaos with an increase in the output adjustment speed. An interesting phenomenon occurs in that higher tariffs lead to the expansion of the stable range of the supply chain in the product-exporting country. The chaotic behavior of the system is sensitive to the value of the initial level of output. In supply chain competition, each supply chain firm should make suitable adjustments to the speed of output. To maintain the stability of domestic markets, excessive tariffs should be avoided. It is essential that each supply chain firm evaluates the potential impacts of different initial output values when making initial decisions. Using the method of delayed feedback control, the chaotic behavior of the system can effectively be controlled. These findings offer valuable and novel insight into inter-chain competition in supply chain networks.

Electrocatalytic alkynes semi-hydrogenation to produce alkenes with high yield and Faradaic efficiency remains technically challenging because of kinetically favorable hydrogen evolution reaction and over-hydrogenation. Here, we propose a hierarchically nanoporous Cu50Au50 alloy to improve electrocatalytic performance toward semi-hydrogenation of alkynes. Using Operando X-ray absorption spectroscopy and density functional theory calculations, we find that Au modulate the electronic structure of Cu, which could intrinsically inhibit the combination of H* to form H2 and weaken alkene adsorption, thus promoting alkyne semi-hydrogenation and hampering alkene over-hydrogenation. Finite element method simulations and experimental results unveil that hierarchically nanoporous catalysts induce a local microenvironment with abundant K+ cations by enhancing the electric field within the nanopore, accelerating water electrolysis to form more H*, thereby promoting the conversion of alkynes. As a result, the nanoporous Cu50Au50 electrocatalyst achieves highly efficient electrocatalytic semi-hydrogenation of alkynes with 94% conversion, 100% selectivity, and a 92% Faradaic efficiency over wide potential window. This work provides a general guidance of the rational design for high-performance electrocatalytic transfer semi-hydrogenation catalysts. In order to sort out the research process and hotspots of honey safety, this paper was based on the China national knowledge infrastructure (CNKI) database and the Web of Science (WOS) core collection, utilizing CiteSpace software to analyze and visualize publication trends, journals, authors, institutions, countries (regions), keywords, and other relevant information. The aforementioned databases yielded a total of 169 Chinese and 281 English literatures. The analysis revealed that the number of publications in Chinese literature on honey safety had been steadily increasing since 2011. The number of publications in English literature had displayed an oscillating upward trend since 2007, with a higher volume of publications in English literature over the past fifteen years compared to Chinese literature. ZHANG Q and GUNDUZ A were the most prolific authors in Chinese and English literature, respectively. While there were established cooperative relationships between researchers in both fields, collaborations between different groups remained relatively limited. Journal of Bee and Food Chemistry were the leading journals for publications on honey safety in English and Chinese, respectively. Both English and Chinese publishing journals primarily focused on the food industry. Yunnan Province Center for Disease Control and Prevention and Karadeniz Technical University were the research institutions with the highest publication output in Chinese and English, respectively. However, there was limited collaboration between research institutes in China. Turkey was the most influential country among the study countries (regions), followed by China, Poland, and New Zealand. During the initial stages of research, Chinese literature primarily explored topics such as "botulinum toxin" "pollen plants" "Triperygium wilfordii Hook. f." and "honey poisoning". However, after 2000, advancements in technologies such as chromatography, spectroscopy, and scanning electron microscopy led to the emergence of new keywords like "melissopalynology" and "gas chromatography". Consequently, gas chromatography, liquid chromatography, liquid-mass spectrometry, and scanning electron microscopy gained popularity as methods for detecting honey safety in research. During the early stages of research, English literature primarily delved into topics such as "pyrrolizidine alkaloids" "mad honey" "grayanotoxin" and "natural toxicants". This indicates that during this time, the primary emphasis was on studying toxic honey and natural toxins found in honey, specifically pyrrolizidine alkaloids and grayanotoxin. As technologies such as chromatography advanced, keywords like "mass spectrometry" began to emerge. It could be seen that the research in Chinese and English literature was focused on similar topics, such as toxic honey, honey poisoning, and the detection and tracing of toxic components in honey. However, there were slight differences in emphasis. In China, the main toxic nectar plants were Triperygium wilfordii Hook. f., Gelsemium elegans (Gardn. & Champ.) Benth. and Macleaya cordata (Willd.) R. Br., while the main toxic components detected in honey were triptolide and koumine. In foreign countries, honey poisoning incidents were mostly caused by grayanotoxin, pyrrolizidine alkaloids or tutin. The structural diversity of biological macromolecules in different environments contributes complexity to enzymological processes vital for cellular functions. Fluorescence resonance energy transfer and electron microscopy are used to investigate the enzymatic reaction of T4 DNA ligase catalyzing the ligation of nicked DNA. The data show that both the ligase–AMP complex and the ligase–AMP–DNA complex can have four conformations. This finding suggests the parallel occurrence of four ligation reaction pathways, each characterized by specific conformations of the ligase–AMP complex that persist in the ligase–AMP–DNA complex. Notably, these complexes have DNA bending angles of ≈0°, 20°, 60°, or 100°. The mechanism of parallel reactions challenges the conventional notion of simple sequential reaction steps occurring among multiple conformations. The results provide insights into the dynamic conformational changes and the versatile attributes of T4 DNA ligase and suggest that the parallel multiple reaction pathways may correspond to diverse T4 DNA ligase functions. Factor-dependent termination uses molecular motors to remodel transcription machineries, but the associated mechanisms, especially in eukaryotes, are poorly understood. Here we use single-molecule fluorescence assays to characterize in real time the composition and the catalytic states of Saccharomyces cerevisiae transcription termination complexes remodeled by Sen1 helicase. We confirm that Sen1 takes the RNA transcript as its substrate and translocates along it by hydrolyzing multiple ATPs to form an intermediate with a stalled RNA polymerase II (Pol II) transcription elongation complex (TEC). We show that this intermediate dissociates upon hydrolysis of a single ATP leading to dissociation of Sen1 and RNA, after which Sen1 remains bound to the RNA. We find that Pol II ends up in a variety of states: dissociating from the DNA substrate, which is facilitated by transcription bubble rewinding, being retained to the DNA substrate, or diffusing along the DNA substrate. Our results provide a complete quantitative framework for understanding the mechanism of Sen1-dependent transcription termination in eukaryotes. Background: Cerebral infarct associated with varicella-zoster virus (VZV) has been reported in the literature, while isolated central dizziness due to lateral medullary infarct (LMI) following VZV infection is rarely reported. Case report: We report the case of a 65-year-old man who presented to the neurology department because of herpes zoster on the right trigeminal nerve distribution. At 12 hours after admission, he developed transient vertigo along with nausea and unsteady walking and left-sided spontaneous horizontal nystagmus, gaze-evoked nystagmus, and upbeat nystagmus. The other usual signs of LMI including Horner syndrome, dysarthria, swallowing difficulty, and hemibody sensory change were absent. Video head impulse indicated decreased head impulse gain of the vestibulo-ocular reflex for the bilateral horizontal, anterior, and posterior semicircular canals with abnormal saccade waves. Suppression head impulse paradigm showed few downward saccades reflecting anti-compensatory saccades after the end of the head impulse back to the head-fixed target and decreased vestibulo-ocular reflex gain values of bilateral semicircular canals. Brain magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) showed a small infarct in the far dorsolateral portion of the left rostral medulla. The cerebrospinal fluid was positive for VZV DNA. Conclusions: In patients with VZV infection who develop dizziness, the possibility of cerebral infarct should be considered. Patients with facial herpes zoster and neurological symptoms always be screened for stroke using MRI and lumbar puncture should be performed and acyclovir administered empirically. The Chungtien schizothoracin (Ptychobarbus chungtienensis), an endangered fish species endemic to the Zhongdian Plateau, remains underexplored in terms of transcriptomic sequencing. This investigation used tissues from five distinct organs (heart, liver, spleen, kidney, and brain) of the Chungtien schizothoracin for PacBio Iso-seq and RNA-seq analyses, yielding a repertoire of 16,598 full-length transcripts spanning lengths from 363 bp to 7,157 bp. Gene family clustering and phylogenetic analysis encompassed a comprehensive set of 13 fish species, all of which were cyprinids, including the zebrafish and the examined species Ptychobarbus chungtienensis. Moreover, the identification of long non-coding RNAs (lncRNAs) and coding sequences was accomplished across all five tissues. Comprehensive analyses of gene expression profiles and differentially expressed genes among the above five tissues were performed. In summary, the obtained full-length transcripts and detailed gene expression profiles of the Chungtien schizothoracin tissues furnish crucial expression data and genetic sequences, laying the groundwork for future investigations and fostering a holistic comprehension of the adaptive mechanisms inherent in the Chungtien schizothoracin under various conditions. Perovskite single crystals have attracted tremendous attention owing to their excellent optoelectronic properties and stability compared to typical multicrystal structures. However, the growth of high‐quality perovskite single crystals (PSCs) generally relies on temperature gradients or the introduction of additives to promote crystal growth. In this study, a vacuum evaporation crystallization technique is developed that allows PSCs to be grown under extremely stable conditions at constant temperature and without requiring additives to promote crystal growth. The new method enables the growth of PSCs of unprecedented quality, that is, MAPbBr3 single crystals that exhibit an ultranarrow full width at half maximum of 0.00701°, which surpasses that of all previously reported values. In addition, the MAPbBr3 single crystals deliver exceptional optoelectronic performance, including a long carrier lifetime of 1006 ns, an ultralow trap‐state density of 3.67 × 109 cm−3, and an ultrahigh carrier mobility of 185.86 cm2 V−1 s−1. Amphichorda has been previously accepted as a member of the Cordycipitaceae and currently it is considered a member of the Bionectriaceae. The substrates of Amphichorda were complex and varied, being mainly animal faeces. This study reports two new species of Amphichorda from Yunnan Province in south-western China. Based on the five-gene (nrSSU, nrLSU, tef‐1α , rpb1 and rpb2) sequence and ITS data phylogenetic analysis, two new species, namely A. excrementa and A. kunmingensis, are proposed and a detailed description of the new species is provided. Amphichorda excrementa and A. kunmingensis were isolated from animal faeces in the park. Background: A gut-microbial metabolite, trimethylamine N-oxide (TMAO), has been associated with type 2 diabetes mellitus (T2DM). Few previous prospective studies have addressed associations between the changes in TMAO and T2DM incidence. Methods: Data were derived from a longitudinal cohort conducted from 2019 to 2021 in rural areas of Fuxin County, Liaoning Province, China, and 1515 diabetes-free participants aged above 35 years were included. The concentrations of serum TMAO and its precursors were measured at two time points, namely in 2019 and 2021. TMAO and TMAO changes (ΔTMAO) were separately tested in a logistic regression model. For further examination, the odds ratios (ORs) for T2DM were calculated according to a combination of TMAO levels and ΔTMAO levels. Results: During a median follow-up of 1.85 years, 81 incident cases of T2DM (5.35%) were identified. Baseline TMAO levels exhibited a nonlinear relationship, first decreasing and then increasing, and only at the highest quartile was it associated with the risk of T2DM. The OR for T2DM in the highest quartile of serum TMAO was 3.35 (95%CI: 1.55–7.26, p = 0.002), compared with the lowest quartile. As for its precursors, only choline level was associated with T2DM risk and the OR for T2DM in the Q3 and Q4 of serum choline was 3.37 (95%CI: 1.41–8.05, p = 0.006) and 4.72 (95%CI: 1.47–15.13, p = 0.009), respectively. When considering both baseline TMAO levels and ΔTMAO over time, participants with sustained high TMAO levels demonstrated a significantly increased risk of T2DM, with a multivariable-adjusted OR of 8.68 (95%CI: 1.97, 38.34). Conclusion: Both initial serum TMAO levels and long-term serum TMAO changes were collectively and significantly associated with the occurrence of subsequent T2DM events. Interventions aimed at normalizing TMAO levels, such as adopting a healthy dietary pattern, may be particularly beneficial in T2DM prevention. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Double perovskite materials have gradually become widely studied due to their potential applications in solar cells and other optoelectronic devices. We take Cs2NaFeCl6 as an example to investigate the carrier mobility with respect to the acoustic phonon and the optical phonon scattering mechanisms. By considering the deformation potential, carrier effective mass, and bulk modulus, the longitudinal acoustic (LA) phonon-determined mobilities for electrons and holes in Cs2NaFeCl6 are found to be μe = 2886.08 cm2 v−1 s−1 and μh = 39.09 cm2 v−1 s−1, respectively. The optical scattering mechanism involves calculating the Fröhlich coupling constant, dielectric constant, and polaron mass to determine the multiple polar optical (PO) phonon-scattering-determined mobilities, resulting in μe = 279.25 cm2 v−1 s−1 and μh = 21.29 cm2 v−1 s−1, respectively. By combining both interactions, the total electron mobility and hole mobility are determined to be 254.61 cm2 v−1 s−1 and 13.78 cm2 v−1 s−1, respectively. The findings suggest that the polarization of both electrons and ions, small coupling constant, and bulk modulus in Cs2NaFeCl6's lattice make PO scattering a significant contribution to carrier mobility in this specific double perovskite, highlighting the importance of considering this in enhancing the optoelectronic properties of Cs2NaFeCl6 and other double perovskites. Sugarcane brown rust (SCBR), caused by Puccinia melanocephala, is a destructive fungal disease that has extensively spread in the sugarcane-cultivating regions across the world. Early monitoring plays an important role in predicting the P. melanocephala epidemic and managing SCBR. However, accurately identifying SCBR based on symptoms and urediniospore morphology at the initial stage is a challenge. Further, it is tedious, time-consuming, labor-intensive, and requires expensive equipment to detect P. melanocephala using PCR-based methods. Loop-mediated isothermal amplification (LAMP) technology is renowned for its speed, simplicity, and low equipment requirements for specifically and sensitively identifying many pathogens. Therefore, in this study, a novel and highly sensitive LAMP assay was developed for the specific detection of P. melanocephala in sugarcane. Here, the internal transcribed spacer (ITS) sequence of P. melanocephala was selected as the target gene for LAMP primer design. Based on the color change of SYBR Green I and gel electrophoresis, specific LAMP primers were screened. Further, the optimal reaction conditions for the LAMP assay were determined at 63 °C for 60 min. The LAMP assay showed a high degree of specificity for the detection of P. melanocephala in sugarcane, with no cross-reactivity with other fungal pathogens. The established LAMP protocol was highly sensitive and can be used to detect as low as 1 pg/μL of P. melanocephala plasmid DNA, which is comparable to that of nested PCR and ~100 times more sensitive than conventional PCR. In terms of biomarkers, levosimendan significantly reduced the level of brain natriuretic peptide [SMD = −1.08, 95% CI (−1.60, −0.56), P < 0.0001], N‐terminal pro‐brain natriuretic peptide [SMD = −0.99, 95% CI (−1.41, −0.56), P < 0.00001], and interleukin‐6 [SMD = −0.61, 95% CI (−0.86, −0.35), P < 0.00001]. Meanwhile, levosimendan may increase the incidence of hypotension [risk ratio (RR) = 1.24, 95% CI (1.12, 1.39), P < 0.0001], hypokalaemia [RR = 1.57, 95% CI (1.08, 2.28), P = 0.02], headache [RR = 1.89, 95% CI (1.50, 2.39), P < 0.00001], atrial fibrillation [RR = 1.31, 95% CI (1.12, 1.52), P = 0.0005], and premature ventricular complexes [RR = 1.86, 95% CI (1.27, 2.72), P = 0.001]. In addition, levosimendan reduced all‐cause mortality [RR = 0.83, 95% CI (0.74, 0.94), P = 0.002]. In conclusion, our study found that levosimendan might reverse ventricular remodelling when applied in patients with left ventricular systolic dysfunction, especially in patients undergoing cardiac surgery, decompensated heart failure, and septic shock. Micro‐Doppler effect is a vital feature of a target that reflects its oscillatory motions apart from bulk motion and provides an important evidence for target recognition with radars. However, establishing the micro‐Doppler database poses a great challenge, since plenty of experiments are required to get the micro‐Doppler signatures of different targets for the purpose of analyses and interpretations with radars, which are dramatically limited by high cost and time‐consuming. Aiming to overcome these limits, a low‐cost and powerful simulation platform of the micro‐Doppler effects is proposed based on time‐domain digital coding metasurface (TDCM).
