Se describen a los micro-papers como formatos novedosos e incipientes para la difusión del conocimiento científico, tanto en revistas científicas como a través de otros métodos nativos del Internet (repositorios, blogs, etcétera). Planteamos la importancia de la utilización de este formato reducido de comunicación de la ciencia para transmitir ciertos tipos de hallazgos, pues presenta una condensación de la información básica en un documento breve, de fácil lectura y con amplia audiencia, sin perder la calidad propia de los trabajos científicos revisados. Para ello, se realiza un estudio descriptivo de carácter exploratorio por medio de una revisión bibliográfica que ahonda en su uso actual y experiencias previas. Concluimos que su viabilidad para la difusión de contenidos científicos concretos busca la agilidad, sin que ello implique la pérdida de la calidad en la difusión científica.

A descriptive annotated bibliography is presented of recent selected publications dealing with the reported health benefits and risks of fish and seafood consumption; fish and seafood including farmed and wild-caught finfish, crustaceans, mollusks, and seaweeds. The bibliography is presented in four parts, namely (1) review papers dealing with both the health benefits and risks of fish and seafood consumption, (2) specific papers dealing with health benefits related to: antioxidants; bone health; brain and mental health; cancer prevention; diabetes prevention; elderly and senior adults; fermentation; heart health and hypertension; immune response and allergies; infant and child health; lipids, fatty acids and sterols; minerals and trace elements; obesity and overweight reduction; polysaccharides; pregnancy and gestational health; proteins, peptides and amino acids; and vitamins and bioactive compounds; (3) specific papers dealing with health risks related to: algal blooms and shellfish biotoxins; antibiotics use and residues; cancer risks; chemicals; chronic kidney disease; microbial quality and safety; microplastics; minerals and heavy metals; parasites and pathogens; pesticides and persistent organic pollutants; public perception and media; seafood allergy; and smoking risks; and (4) supporting papers dealing with consumption advisories and dietary guidelines; improved decontamination and processing methods; and fish, food and nutrient security. A total of 552 papers are presented together with their annotated summaries. On the basis of the papers presented in this review, it is believed that the higher nutritional value and health benefits derived from increased fish and seafood consumption far out-way the potential negative risks to human health, and as such fish and seafood represent a valuable and much healthier alternative than processed fast-foods and many terrestrial animal food products in the global fight against heart disease and related health ailments. Identifying factors that associate with more cited or higher quality research may be useful to improve science or to support research evaluation. This article reviews evidence for the existence of such factors in article text and metadata. It also reviews studies attempting to estimate article quality or predict long‐term citation counts using statistical regression or machine learning for journal articles or conference papers. Although the primary focus is on document‐level evidence, the related task of estimating the average quality scores of entire departments from bibliometric information is also considered. The review lists a huge range of factors that associate with higher quality or more cited research in some contexts (fields, years, journals) but the strength and direction of association often depends on the set of papers examined, with little systematic pattern and rarely any cause‐and‐effect evidence. The strongest patterns found include the near universal usefulness of journal citation rates, author numbers, reference properties, and international collaboration in predicting (or associating with) higher citation counts, and the greater usefulness of citation‐related information for predicting article quality in the medical, health and physical sciences than in engineering, social sciences, arts, and humanities. This paper investigates retracted articles indexed in the Scientific Electronic Library Online (SciELO) Brazil, using bibliometric techniques to identify the characteristics of these retractions and relevant citation trends. All records of retracted articles from the first record in October 2004 to April 2022 were included. Sixty-seven retractions and 870 citations pre- and post-retraction were analyzed. Results indicate a change of scenario that began in 2015, with recurrences of retracted articles allegedly produced by paper mills. The prevalence of retractions derived from professional misconduct in health research and the frequency of post-retraction citations in health sciences raise concerns in the chain of stakeholders, public health, and scientific development. Institutional discovery environments now serve as central resource databases for researchers in the academic environment. Over the last several decades, there have been numerous discovery layer research inquiries centering primarily on user satisfaction measures of discovery system effectiveness. This study focuses on the creation of a largely automated method for evaluating discovery layer quality, utilizing the bibliographic sources from student research projects. Building on past research, the current study replaces a semiautomated Excel Fuzzy Lookup Add-In process with a fully scripted R-based approach, which employs the stringdist R package and applies the Jaro-Winkler distance metric as the matching evaluator. The researchers consider the error rate incurred by relying solely on an automated matching metric. They also use Open Refine for normalization processes and package the tools together on an OSF site for other institutions to use. Since the R-based approach does not require special processing or time and can be reproduced with minimal effort, it will allow future studies and users of our method to capture larger sample sizes, boosting validity. While the assessment process has been streamlined and shows promise, there remain issues in establishing solid connections between research paper bibliographies and discovery layer use. Subsequent research will focus on creating alternatives to paper titles as search proxies that better resemble genuine information-seeking behavior and comparing undergraduate and graduate student interactions within discovery environments. This study explores the methodologies for editing scientific research articles in the field of social sciences, incorporating bibliographic research considerations. Emphasis is placed on organizing and presenting both the formal and conceptual structures of the articles in a coherent manner. While correct formal structures are essential, issues in content often persist. The articles are delineated into specific sections (abstract, keywords, introduction and materials, main topics, conclusion, discussion, conclusions, recommendations, and references), with attention to the conceptual aspects of each segment. The significance of this study lies in guiding authors through the process of crafting bibliographically researched essays and providing insights into initiating and concluding essays within the social sciences. The article employs bibliographic research and descriptive and analytical methods. The key takeaway is the importance of aligning the scientific article with the policies of the institution, maintaining a cohesive formal structure from inception to conclusion, and ensuring a conceptual coherence across all sections. Nowadays, an increasing number of crises worldwide, triggered by climate extremes, natural and human-made hazards, the coronavirus pandemic, and more, pose a high pressure on crisis, emergency, and disaster management. Spatial data and Volunteered Geographic Information (VGI) are key issues in the successful and immediate response to crises. This paper aims to explore the use of VGI in crisis management, including emergency and disaster management, based on a scoping review of existing literature in English for five years (2016–2020). Specifically, the research intends to answer Scoping Review Questions (SRQ) regarding the use of VGI in crisis, emergency, and disaster management, and the verified cases' spatial distribution, the VGI sources utilized (e.g. OpenStreetMap – OSM, Crowdsourcing, Twitter), the types of hazards (e.g. natural and human-made hazards, pandemic), the specific tasks in crisis, emergency or disaster management and VGI use in the management of actual crisis events, e.g. COVID-19 pandemic, Hurricane Katrina, etc. Eligible papers on VGI use in crisis, emergency, and disaster management are geolocated based on first-author affiliation, and as a result, a spatial bibliography is provided. Thus, the term Spatial Scoping Review is introduced. Scoping Review Questions are answered, and the results are analyzed and discussed. Finally, implementing the "VGICED Atlas", a web atlas, permits the publication of the research results to a broad audience and the visualization of the analysis with several interactive maps. Business Internationalization is a subject of great interest for small and medium enterprises from all over the world due to its extensive benefits. However, some industries are neglected in this process due to their activities, impact on the environment and lack of knowledge, so the companies that are part of those industries are not taking the risks of embarking on this journey of internationalization. This research paper highlights the importance of knowledge and enhances the reasons why small and medium enterprises (SMEs) do not internationalize, specifically the Romanian ones from the oil and gas industry. The purpose of this paper is to present the findings over an in-depth analysis of the most searched journal articles on the topic of business internationalization of SMEs from Romania in the energy sector. This literature review brings value by discussing the similarities and discrepancies between the journals and identifies the results that come from the search of the most popular keywords on this topic, coming with more arguments for authorities on the investments that need to be done for companies, and possible solutions for enhancing the chances of more SMEs to attend the global trend of internationalization. Bridget Griffen-Foley's book, "Australian Radio Listeners and Television Viewers: Historical Perspectives," explores the experiences of Australian radio and television audiences throughout the twentieth century. This research presents a systematic review and approximation, from 2018 to 2023, of how Artificial Intelligence can support decision-making processes when business managers have to resolve between multiple alternatives for the development of new businesses using Agile Frameworks; and as well, will be addressed from the genesis concepts such as VUCA, Agile Mindset, Infinite Game Theory, Agile Frameworks, Innovation, Artificial Intelligence among others with the aim of identifying research gaps in the decision-making process under changing environments. Most of the analyzed studies are focused on Infinity Games theory to better understand innovation processes linked from early stages to deployment phases of products. Furthermore, this paper analyzes AI techniques for decision-making under volatile circumstances and raises 5 research questions that from a logical and chronological perspective in development are resolved during the research. It is important to highlight that AI-related solutions are typically used to make informed decisions; however, few studies adopt AI to support the decision-making process in unstable environments. The growing popularity of the plain language movement in Poland has resulted in a number of publications devoted to the subject. They approach plain language from different perspectives; they also differ in character. In this paper, I present a list of publications devoted to plain language and a proposal for their classification. I have also applied statistical analysis to this collection. Owing to these procedures, I was able to determine the current research findings, as well as to identify areas that require further exploration. In this paper, I also put forward a proposal for a new layout of the repository of the University of Warsaw Laboratory for Effective Communication, which may become helpful both in research on plain language and in plain language didactics. Purpose: Genetic counselors (GCs) increasingly play key roles in advancing genomic medicine through innovative research. Here, we examine one large cohort of GCs' evolving contributions to the literature, with the goal of facilitating worldwide professional development for GCs through scholarly activities. Methods: Publications were cataloged by members of the Section of Genetic Counseling (Section), established at the Children's Hospital of Philadelphia and the University of Pennsylvania in 2014, including publication year, journal, impact factor, and author position. Data were organized using the "My Bibliography" tool on the National Center for Biotechnology Information website and a Research Electronic Data Capture database created to initially collect manuscripts published through 30 June 2020. A subsequent survey captured publications through 5 February 2024. Results: An amount of 52 of 120 (43%) GCs shared their curriculum vitae/papers. 992 unique publications were identified from 1986 to 2024. Since 2013, no less than 32 papers were published annually by Section members and no less than 10 GCs contributed to publications yearly. Impact factors typically averaged >5.0 per year. Areas of foci diversified considerably since 2015. Conclusions: Here, we establish that GCs indeed contribute to scholarly work as evidenced by the number of publications alone. The establishment of an academic home may have contributed, given publications increased concurrent to launching the Section, providing a model for organizing GCs at institutions nationally and internationally. Highlighting such achievements will foster the expansion of GC roles in the era of precision genomic medicine and therapy. Purpose: The purpose of this paper is to understand how users behave and evaluate how systems with users are essential for interactive information retrieval (IIR) research. User study methodology serves as a primary approach to answering IIR research questions. In addition to designing user study procedures, understanding the limitations of varying study designs and discussing solutions to the limitations is also critical for improving the methods and advancing the knowledge in IIR. Design/methodology/approach: Given this unresolved gap, we apply the faceted framework developed by Liu and Shah (2019) in systematically reviewing 131 IIR user studies recently published (2016–2021) on multiple IR and information science venues. Findings: Our study achieve three goals: (1) extracting and synthesizing the reported limitations on multiple aspects of user study (e.g. recruitment, tasks, study procedures, system interfaces, data analysis methods) under associated facets; (2) summarizing the reported solutions to the limitations; (3) clarifying the connections between types of limitations and types of solutions. Practical implications: The bibliography of user studies can be used by students and junior researchers who are new to user-centered IR studies as references for study design. Our results can facilitate the reflection and improvement on IR research methodology and serve as a checklist for evaluating customized IIR user studies in varying problem spaces. Originality/value: To our knowledge, this work is the first study that systematically reviews the study limitations and solutions reported by IIR researchers in articles and empirically examines their connections to different study components. Relevant research papers, reviews, and case reports are indexed, primarily in English, and include full source data and abstracts.

This paper examines the problem of hallucinations in four scientific articles generated by ChatGPT-4 from various sub-fields of business administration. Specifically, the aim is to check whether the references generated by ChatGPT exist and, if this is the case, whether they are correct. A first surprising result is that nearly 40 Prozent of the 174 sources referenced in the articles, whose bibliographic details were listed after the individual main chapters, were not included in the specially for each article generated bibliography. A check of the bibliographic entries revealed that between 18 % and 100 % of the sources in the individual articles could not be found with Google Scholar. Furthermore, half of the sources found were incorrect to varying degrees (wrong document type, wrong journal name, wrong page reference). On average, only a quarter of the bibliographic references were completely correct. In Web of Science, only a quarter of the sources could be verified, but most of them were correct. The above results show that ChatGPT-4 – besides ethical and legal concerns – should definitely not be used for writing scientific papers, as a large proportion of the references generated by ChatGPT (valid at the time of writing this paper) does not exist or is partially incorrect. Furthermore, it can be assumed that some of the article texts generated are also "invented" or come from unreferenced sources (plagiarism). Texts generated by ChatGPT must therefore be subject to a comprehensive review, which may not always be easy. The authors therefore agree with the recommendation of Gimpel et al. (2023) that ChatGPT should primarily be used as a supplement to writing (e. g., spell-checking, creating summaries, supporting the generation of ideas). [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Nanoparticles have been considered in many fields such as medicine and industry due to their very small size and their special physicochemical properties. Biosynthesis of nanoparticles has advantages over other methods. This paper examines the bibliography of the relationship between nanotechnology and fungi from 1985 to 2021. Data were collected from three databases consisting of Web of Science, Scopus, and Dimensions. The number and type of documents were examined and then the analysis was continued using VOSviewer and Bibliometrix-package on the documents of the Scopus database. Analysis of 1203 documents from this database showed an upward trend in the publication in recent years. The term "Fungi" was also identified as the keyword index and India as the country with the most published documents. Future research is likely to be on using modern techniques in the study of nanoparticles as well as focusing on other genera of fungi. This paper explores the relationship between nanotechnology and fungi from 1985 to 2021. Biosynthesis offers advantages in creating nanoparticles, which are tiny particles with unique properties used in many fields. Data from three databases were analysed, indicating an increasing trend in publications in recent years. Sorin Stati was a prestigious Romanian scientist whose 54-year of scientific activity included 220 papers and 130 lectures. Born in Romania, he studied at the University of Bucharest and worked from the beginning as a member of large research teams within the Romanian Academy. Single and collaborative works written up until 1972 and published in the country were exceptional, decisively changing the movement of Romanian linguistic ideas. After 1972, when he emigrated to Italy, the distinguished professor held a second doctorate and a chair at the University of Bologna. From then until his death, through his works and throughout his activity, he opened new theoretical perspectives both in the study of syntax and pragmatics, dialogue, in the analysis of the 'transfrastic' relationships, lexicology and semantics. His ability to influence these fields lies in the volumes that the international academic community offered at the age of 65, but also in the number of articles and homage volumes dedicated to Sorin Stati after 2008, the year of his death. The publication of his works continued ten years after his death. I personally owe him a large part of my linguistic thinking, being decisively influenced by his wonderful and fertile ideas during the period when I was preparing my PhD thesis. The bibliography of Sorin Stati's works, as seen above, was made up of two incomplete editions, without being unified so far with his other works. That is what we intended in this article. In addition to the previous bibliographies, we record here the understandings, respectively the reviews of his works, but also the homage articles and volumes without which, we think, a bibliography of any scientist remains incomplete. Background: Libraries provide access to databases with auto-cite features embedded into the services; however, the accuracy of these auto-cite buttons is not very high in humanities and social sciences databases. Case Presentation: This case compares two biomedical databases, Ovid MEDLINE and PubMed, to see if either is reliable enough to confidently recommend to students for use when writing papers. A total of 60 citations were assessed, 30 citations from each citation generator, based on the top 30 articles in PubMed from 2010 to 2020. Conclusions: Error rates were higher in Ovid MEDLINE than PubMed but neither database platform provided error-free references. The auto-cite tools were not reliable. Zero of the 60 citations examined were 100% correct. Librarians should continue to advise students not to rely solely upon citation generators in these biomedical databases. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Current student development theories are mostly grounded in the experiences of domestic students in North America. The increasing portion of the international students in the post-secondary student population has created a glaring gap for a unique theory of international student development. A unique theory for international student development, with a focus on their intercultural learning experiences, will serve as a necessary theoretical foundation for international student programmes and services that are offered in most hosting universities of international students as an overlay on top of general student services. Through a critical review of existing literature, this paper endeavours to develop a coherent theory of international student development that endorses a critical and post-structural approach to the key issues of intercultural identity, intercultural competence and intercultural adaptation for international students. In general, the problem of building optimal convolutional codes under a certain criteria is hard, especially when size field restrictions are applied. In this paper, we confront the challenge of constructing an optimal 2D convolutional code when communicating over an erasure channel. We propose a general construction method for these codes. The "new psychic economy" is a concept of Charles Melman, who passed away in 2022. A French psychoanalyst and one of the principal followers of Lacan, Melman's new psychic economy was his way of trying to explain the social changes of recent decades and their consequences, mainly in the field of psychoanalytic clinics. This paper is also inspired by other works, in particular those of the Belgian psychoanalyst Jean-Pierre Lebrun, a member of the Association Lacanienne Internationale, the school founded by Melman. This paper presents the outcomes of research on elementary Latin grammar textbooks called Donati – or Donatus-based grammars –, which were written/compiled or printed and also used in the upper part of the Kingdom of Hungary (roughly corresponding to present-day Slovakia) in the period between approximately the second half of the 17thcentury and the middle of the 19thcentury. The textbooks fall into two categories: 1) bilingual textbooks originally written by Johannes Rhenius, compiled and printed in Upper Hungary, as well as those that accurately reflected his bilingual concept; and 2) multilingual textbooks that only loosely followed Rhenius’ model and were compiled by Pavel Doležal (1700–1778) and modified again by Imre Dunay (1767–1838). The research aimed first at identifying all bi- and multilingual editions of the given type. In terms of methodology, this research balanced on the boundary between philology and retrospective bibliography. In addition to the primary focus, this research additionally explored areas that emerged in the context of the specific region of Upper Hungary: the changing social-historical, religious, and pedagogical environment in which these textbooks were created and to which they were adapted. The Packard Humanities Institute has released a new edition of Johann Christian Bach's operas and dramatic works, available in both printed and digital formats. The University of Iowa's Rita Benton Music Library has received a grant to digitize and preserve early recordings of Czech music. The RISM Editorial Center is seeking updates to its Series C, the Directory of Music Research Libraries. This article has two parts. It reveals some secrets hidden behind this ancestral hydroagricultural development which has been operating for more than 30 centuries. During the period 1992-2024, several missions were carried out in the foggaras oases. Investigations and surveys were carried out among the owners of the foggaras and the Ksourian population. The first results obtained show that the know-how acquired on foggaras is immense. For the first time, new notions about foggaras have been introduced into the technical bibliography. In this first part, we established two types of foggaras: volumetric and hourly. The volumetric foggara is found only in Algeria and was dug in the oases of Gourara, Touat and Tidikelt which take the shape of a crescent. Approximately 80% of the total number, the volumetric foggara of exceptional ingenuity allows the gardens to be irrigated in parallel, it is equipped with a network of triangular seguias. As for the hourly foggara, it is less present on Algerian soil, the hourly foggara contains a network of branched seguias and makes it possible to irrigate the gardens in series, i.e. in turn. The majority of these foggaras are located in the Saoura valley. Musharakah is an Islamic financing contract. This study analyzed articles on musharakah using bibliometrics and a literature review on articles from Indonesia and Malaysia. While bibliometric analysis of Islamic economics and finance has been previously conducted, it has not been carried out on musharakah in particular. The analysis began by using musharakah as the initial keyword and analyzing other keywords which are part of Islamic economics research from the specified databases. This study found that Indonesian and Malaysian scholars authored many articles on musharakah. Relatively less research on musharakah has been published in Scopus-indexed journals. The earliest articles on musharakah in Scopus-indexed journals were published in 1999. In the past 10 years, musharakah articles in Scopus-indexed journals were authored mainly by Malaysian and Indonesian academics. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

The Internet and the popularization of smartphones in the 21st century have given instantaneity to information. By these same digital means –imbued with the power to influence politics, the market, culture, and health– disinformation blossoms. Censorship, understood as the suppression of content and/or suspension of users on social media, has been used as one way to combat disinformation on the Web. This drive to sanitize digital networks carries inherent risks. In the context of ‘Infodemics,’ investment in user’s media education should be encouraged. As methodology, the phenomenon of disinformation on the Web and the efforts to curb it were researched in both scientific literature and in Brazilian legislation. To combat disinformation, the users’ education (in a sense of enabling them to filter, understand, and interpret the information that they gather) should be the main goal, as entrusting this task to third parties could bring undesirable side effects. Meanwhile, platforms, traditional media, and governments pose as ‘Guardians of the Truth.’ The social impacts of disinformation and of the efforts to suppress false content on the Web are discoursed in this paper through usage of MapReduce Text Mining. The paper concludes that disinformation takes on many connotations –from humorous appeal to manipulation–. As long as the users’ informational competence has not been developed, both the platforms as well as governments must act to minimize the undesirable effects of this phenomenon.

Proverbs and idioms are among the most important language and cultural treasures of a nation. Proverbs are concise and set phrases based on past and life experiences. Idioms are short-set phrases that contain figurative meanings. Proverbs and idioms, which are widely used in daily language, are also used in literary works. The use of proverbs and idioms in poetry enriches the meaning world of poetry. Many studies, especially dictionary studies, have been carried out to reveal the richness of Turkish at this point. Studies have been done on the identification and evaluation of proverbs and idioms in classical Turkish poetry texts based on a rich poetry tradition. In these studies, proverbs and idioms that can be identified from other poetry sources especially divans are generally discussed in terms of subject, content, style and linguistic aspects, taking into account the alphabetical order. In this study, a bibliography of studies such as papers, articles, dissertations, books and book chapters on proverbs and idioms in the field of classical Turkish poetry is presented. The general characteristics of the studies on proverbs and idioms, their statistical meanings, etc. are aimed to shed light on the following studies by making some evaluations on the points. This investigation is centered on two objectives: one is to determine whether in Tomelloso, which from 1950 onwards was characterised as being a city linked to literature, this activity is still relevant in the distribution of its spare time. The second objective is to verify whether this city is still a place from which new writers regularly emerge. In addition, this paper aims to provide a sociological explanation of this social phenomenon. Methodological triangulation was used, with qualitative exploratory interviews, surveys, and the management of the bibliography and documentary archives. It is confirmed that there is still a major link to literature in Tomelloso and that writers are still continuously emerging. Background and Objectives: Hospitals streamline treatment pathways to reduce the length of time older adults admitted for planned procedures spend in hospital. However patient perspectives have been poorly evaluated. This systematic review aimed to understand the experiences of older patients, carers, families and staff of multi‐component interventions intended to improve recovery following elective treatment. Research Design and Methods: Bibliographic databases searched in June 2021 included MEDLINE ALL, HMIC, CENTRAL, CINAHL, AMED and ProQuest Dissertations and Theses. We conducted citation searching and examined reference lists of reviews. Two reviewers independently undertook screening and data extraction, resolving disagreements through discussion. We used an adapted Wallace checklist for quality appraisal and meta‐ethnography to synthesise data. Clinician, carer and patient views were incorporated throughout the review. Results: Thirty‐five papers were included in the synthesis. Thirteen studies were conducted in the UK, with patient views the most frequently represented. We identified six overarching constructs: 'Home as preferred environment for recovery', 'Feeling safe', 'Individualisation of structured programme', 'Taking responsibility', 'Essential care at home' and 'Outcomes'. Discussion and Implications: Findings explore the support patients, families and carers need throughout hospital admission, and may inform commissioning of services to ensure patients and carers receive appropriate follow‐up support after hospital discharge. The findings may help hospital and community‐based health and social care staff provide person‐centred care based upon assessments of emotional and physical wellbeing of patients and family/carers. The idea of classicism is one of the most used categories in the world of the arts and of philosophical aesthetics. However, the variety of its uses has caused the term to present difficulties of interpretation and ambiguities to those who study classicist art or literature. This paper intends to introduce some clarity and distinctness in the discussion about the idea of classicism. To do this, we first deal with the questions that concern its historical genesis, dissociating it from the similar, but essentially different, concept of the classical. Second, we offer a characterization of its structure through a systematization of its four main senses as they are commonly used in the bibliography on the subject. Starting from an initial analysis on the nature of the speech act of invitation and its relationships with (im)politeness, this paper contrasts the perception that Spanish and English speakers have of such a speech act. The aim pursued is that of determining whether there are patterns of cultural variation –and, if this is the case, also of social variation– in this sense. The analysis combines quantitative and qualitative methodology and is based on the answers to a questionnaire by 240 informants (carefully selected according to their geographical origin, age, sex and academic training) who were shown two variants of a dialogue with a sequence invitation–justified rejection–insistence on the invitation. The results obtained confirm the expected existence of cultural differences, although only partially coincident with the profiles traditionally described in the specialized bibliography, in addition to the presence of fairly clearly defined parameters of social variation, both cross-cultural and specific to one or the other culture. “The Tale of Slawkenbergius”, also known as the “Episode of the Nose”, is one of the most recognised and quoted passages from Tristram Shandy (Sterne 1759-1767). This short story from the fourth volume of Sterne’s novel has received a great deal of attention in the specialised bibliography. However, the studies so far published analyse the story as an isolated episode and concentrate mainly on the use of irony, double entendre and puns as a means of alluding to sexual issues (Gallagher 2018; Walsh 2009). The aim of this paper is to study “The Tale of Slawkenbergius” no longer as a humorous representation of the grotesque, but as a metaliterary manifestation of Sterne’s poetics, thus relating the tale to the structure of the novel. The way in which Sterne uses the device of the “strange loop” in this passage to express his subscription to Hogarth’s aesthetics and to Hogarth’s ideas about the “lines of beauty and grace” will be determined. It will also relate the apology for the beauty of a colossal-nosed, disproportionate hero that is established in this episode to the defence of “deformed” art forms, removed from neoclassical aesthetics, that Tristram establishes throughout his narrative. To study library guides, as published on Springshare's LibGuides platform, new approaches are needed to expand the scope of the research, ensure comprehensiveness of data collection, and reduce bias for content analysis. Computational methods can be utilized to conduct a nuanced and thorough evaluation that critically assesses the resources promoted in library guides. Web-based library guides are curated by librarians to provide easy access to high-quality information and resources in a variety of formats to support the research needs of their users. Recent scholarship considers library guides as valuable resources and as de facto publications, highlighting the need for critical study. In this article, the authors present a novel model for comprehensively gathering data about a specific genre of books from individual LibGuide pages and applying computational methods to explore the resultant data. Beginning with a pre-selected list of 159 books, we programmatically queried the titles using the LibGuides Community search engine. After cleaning and filtering the resultant data, we compiled a list of 20,484 book references (of which 6,212 are unique) on 1,529 LibGuide pages. By testing against inclusion and exclusion criteria to ensure relevancy, we identified a total of 281 titles relevant to our topic. To gain insights for future study, citation analysis metrics are presented to reveal patterns of frequency, co-occurrence, and bibliographic coupling of books promoted in LibGuides. This proof-of-concept could be adopted for a variety of applications, including assessment of collections, public services, critical librarianship, and other complex questions to enable a richer and more thorough understanding of the information landscape of LibGuides. Federated Learning (FL) has emerged as a powerful paradigm for training Machine Learning (ML), particularly Deep Learning (DL) models on multiple devices or servers while maintaining data localized at owners' sites. Without centralizing data, FL holds promise for scenarios where data integrity, privacy and security and are critical. However, this decentralized training process also opens up new avenues for opponents to launch unique attacks, where it has been becoming an urgent need to understand the vulnerabilities and corresponding defense mechanisms from a learning algorithm perspective. This review paper takes a comprehensive look at malicious attacks against FL, categorizing them from new perspectives on attack origins and targets, and providing insights into their methodology and impact. In this survey, we focus on threat models targeting the learning process of FL systems. Based on the source and target of the attack, we categorize existing threat models into four types, Data to Model (D2M), Model to Data (M2D), Model to Model (M2M) and composite attacks. For each attack type, we discuss the defense strategies proposed, highlighting their effectiveness, assumptions and potential areas for improvement. Defense strategies have evolved from using a singular metric to excluding malicious clients, to employing a multifaceted approach examining client models at various phases. In this survey paper, our research indicates that the to-learn data, the learning gradients, and the learned model at different stages all can be manipulated to initiate malicious attacks that range from undermining model performance, reconstructing private local data, and to inserting backdoors. We have also seen these threat are becoming more insidious. While earlier studies typically amplified malicious gradients, recent endeavors subtly alter the least significant weights in local models to bypass defense measures. This literature review provides a holistic understanding of the current FL threat landscape and highlights the importance of developing robust, efficient, and privacy-preserving defenses to ensure the safe and trusted adoption of FL in real-world applications. Helen Sawyer Hogg was an esteemed member of the RASC. She served as the Society's President from 1957-1959 and Honorary President from 1977 to 1981. Background: Alzheimer's disease (AD) is the predominant cause of dementia on a global scale, significantly impacting the health of the elderly population. The pathogenesis of AD is closely linked to neuroinflammation. The present study employs a bibliometric analysis to examine research pertaining to neuroinflammation and AD within the last decade, with the objective of providing a comprehensive overview of the current research profile, hotspots and trends. Methods: This research conducted a comprehensive review of publications within the Science Citation Index Expanded of the Web of Science Core Collection Database spanning the years 2014 to 2024. Bibliometric analyses were performed using VOSviewer (version 1.6.19) and CiteSpace (version 6.3.R1) software to visualize data on countries, institutions, authors, journals, keywords, and references. Results: A total of 3,833 publications on neuroinflammation and AD were included from January 2014 to January 2024. Publications were mainly from the United States and China. Zetterberg, Henrik emerged as the author with the highest publication output, while Edison, Paul was identified as the most cited author. The most productive journal was Journal of Alzheimers Disease, and the most co-cited was Journal of Neuroinflammation. Research hotspot focused on microglia, mouse models, oxidative stress, and amyloid-beta through keyword analysis. Additionally, keywords such as blood-brain barrier and tau protein exhibited prolonged citation bursts from 2022 to 2024. Conclusion: This study provides a comprehensive review of the last 10 years of research on neuroinflammation and AD, including the number and impact of research findings, research hotspots, and future trends. The quantity of publications in this field is increasing, mainly in the United States and China, and there is a need to further strengthen close cooperation with different countries and institutions worldwide. Presently, research hotspots are primarily concentrated on microglia, with a focus on inhibiting their pro-inflammatory responses and promoting their anti-inflammatory functions as a potential direction for future investigations.
